Rumor: Konami is Working on Remasters and Remakes of Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill

Take this with a big grain of salt, but rumor has it that Konami is working on remasters and remakes of their Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill IPs — possibly bringing back their most famous video game franchises and rereleasing them for modern consoles and systems.

According to a post by VGC, Konami is restructuring its gaming brand after almost a decade of focusing on their panchiko gaming division. Reports suggest that they are looking to bring back their popular franchises — starting with a new Castlevania game that will be developed internally in Konami Japan. The company is also looking to outsource and work with Chinese game studio Virtuous on a remake of Metal Gear Solid. This of course will be done without the involvement of  Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima — who left Konami in 2015 following completion of his last project with the company in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Lastly, multiple Silent Hill games are also reportedly in development with various studios. The last attempt to revive the franchise was when Hideo Kojima teamed up with director Guillermo del Toro for Silent Hills. Unfortunately that project was cancelled as well following Kojima’s departure, and fans can only imagine what the game could have been like.

A few months ago, we reported that Konami teamed up with The Medium studio Bloober Team for a project, which is rumored to be a Silent Hill game and could lead credence to this new report.

Battlefield 2042 to Use Easy-Anti Cheat; “Positive Play” Initiative Announced

With the open beta tests for Battlefield 2042 kicking off next week, many anticipated players have been wondering what the studios’ plans would be to combat cheaters. Well DICE has finally given us an answer, confirming that Battlefield 2042 will indeed be using easy-anti cheat.

Will Battlefield 2042 Have Anti-Cheat?

As announced in an official blog post, DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will launch with some anti-cheat measuring tools. They will be using Easy-Anti Cheat (EAC,) which has been featured in past EA titles such as Apex Legends and Star Wars: Squadron. Here’s what the studio has to say:

Ensuring Fair Play for anyone that steps onto the Battlefield is something we take seriously at DICE. In short, that means we don’t tolerate cheating, and we have teams dedicated to preventing, identifying, and sanctioning cheaters.

In Battlefield 2042 our first approach to ensuring Fair Play is that we’ll use Easy-Anti Cheat (EAC) as our anti-cheat tool of choice. EAC already has a proven track record in identifying  cheaters, such as within Apex Legends and STAR WARS™: Squadrons. It is also proven to be effective in ensuring your privacy, and security.

Another change for Battlefield 2042 is that due to cross-play functionality, when a cheater is sanctioned it will cause them to be instantly disconnected mid-match and permanently banned across all platforms. As before, we still have the ability to apply IP and hardware bans if necessary. To keep our community a fair place, we have a no tolerance rule in place. There are no warnings and no suspensions when it comes to cheating. If you don’t play by the rules, you’re out. Any actions made on your account can be appealed via EA Help.

Lastly, ensuring Fair Play and combating modern cheating solutions is an ongoing commitment that doesn’t end at launch. While not always visible to you as a player, this means that post launch we’ll continue to invest in developing internal capabilities and technologies that augment 3rd party anti-cheat solutions, provide multiple layers of defense, and ensure our games are fair and fun for everyone.

Easy Anti-Cheat will be in place for both the Open Beta from October 6th to October 10th, and for the full release of Battlefield 2042 this November.

Furthermore, with consoles now being able to support mouse & keyboards, DICE did also confirm that Battlefield 2042 would not support those input devices on consoles, at least for now. They note that they will be exploring some options, along with how it may affect cross-play though have nothing definite to share whether it will come or not.

While sticking to the subject of keeping it’s community safe, DICE has also revealed a set of guidelines to help promote “positive play.” Breaking some of these may result in account restrictions, and/or permeant removal from their services entirely without warning.

Battlefield Community Charter

  • Treat Others As They Would Like To Be Treated – Squad up and play the objective, together. We won’t tolerate players who negatively disrupt or engage in harmful behavior towards others.
  • Keep Things Fair – Be on the right side of the fight. If you see players breaking the rules, report them.
  • Share Appropriate Content – Don’t fight dirty. Make sure whatever content you’re sharing is appropriate for Battlefield players.
  • Keep Things Honorable – Protect your squad. Keep it legal in Battlefield, and do not participate or encourage in dangerous or illegal activities.
  • Respect others on the Battlefield –It costs nothing to treat your fellow players with dignity. Cooperate with your squad and show new players the ropes by providing helpful pointers.
  • Fight cleanly – Don’t harass, threaten, bully, spam, or do anything else to another player that is unwanted. Treat everyone with the same level of respect you’d like them to treat you with.
  • Report violations of protocol – See someone harassing or impersonating another player or partaking in hateful conduct? Or do you feel unsafe while playing a match? Use the in-game report function, or let us know via EA Help.
  • Report feedback – Do you have feedback about a particular feature or issue you’ve run into during your time with Battlefield 2042? Let us know through our Battlefield forums.
  • Don’t cheat – Don’t do it. Don’t even think about doing it. Cheating includes using exploits, undocumented features, design errors, bugs or other problems that unfairly give you the leg up on your opponent. Fair play is an essential part to maintaining the enjoyability of the Battlefield experience – don’t be the person who ruins everyone’s day.
  • Don’t be a nuisance – Actively annoying players by spamming chat with distracting messages or blocking other players’ access points to the objective is just as bad as cheating.
  • What’s yours is yours. Protect it. – Do not trade or sell your EA account to any players, and do not buy an EA account from other players.  It’s against our rules and may be actioned. To keep your account safe, we recommend you turn on Login Verification.
  • Learn the rules of engagement – Battlefield has a variety of modes with different objectives and rules. Take the time to learn and understand the requirements of each mode, either by learning from the in-game tutorials, other Battlefield 2042 players, or EA Help.
  • Protect your squad. Keep it legal in Battlefield and do not participate in or encourage dangerous or illegal activities. This includes:
    • Blackmail
    • Doxxing
    • Drug use
    • Extorting
    • Fraud
    • Gambling
    • Making personal or terrorist threats
    • Swatting
    • Soliciting minors for sexual imagery or favors

Outside of the anti-cheat and anti-toxicity stuff, EA has also rolled out quick tutorials on some of the game’s new mechanics! Check out how to use to use the Plus weapon attachment system, and more right here.

Battlefield 2042 Plus System, How to Revive, and How to Call in Vehicles Explained

Regardless if you’re new to the Battlefield franchise or not, there are a few things in Battlefield 2042 that’s new. DICE is aware of ths, and has whipped up quick tutorials on the Battlefield 2042 Plus system for gun attachments, how to revive, and how the call-in system works for calling in vehicles.

Battlefield 2042 Plus System:

Hold down the appropriate button/key for your preferred platform (see below) to see what attachments are available on your current weapon. Each arm of the menu grants access to a different category of attachment to select from, releasing the button instantly equips the selection. This allows you to experiment with these attachments to find what best meets your needs in a particular firefight or just fits your overall playstyle better.

For PC: Hold down the “T” key, left click to select, then release the “T” key to equip
For Xbox press and hold LB, use the directional buttons to select, then release LB to equip.
For PlayStation press and hold L1, use the directional buttons to select, then release L1 to equip.

Battlefield 2042 How to Call-In a Vehicle:

On PC press the “B” button to bring up the call-in tablet. Choose from troop movers to combat vehicles and use the left mouse button to select the right choice for your particular situation. Once you’ve decided, move your mouse again to choose the location for delivery. Then one more click and you’re all set.

For Xbox press and hold the “RB” button and follow the steps above.
For PlayStation press and hold the “R1” button and follow the steps above.

Battlefield 2042 How to Heal & Revive:

battlefield 2042

Medic crates are boxes you can use to help heal your teammates. Throw them on the ground and when an injured teammate moves close they gain hp over a short duration. Please be aware that there is a cooldown after healing takes place so you won’t be able to use another medic crate immediately. Same note here regarding avoiding further damage during the healing period.

Finally, the Specialist Maria Falck has a syrette pistol allowing her to heal herself. She can also shoot friendly targets to heal them at range. If she misses the target a syringe will land on the ground which can be used by either friend or foe and receive the healing effect. However, if the syrette hits an enemy target directly they’ll take damage.

The Battlefield 2042 beta begins next week, and you can check the full schedule here.

Sony: We’re Not Buying Studios Just to Get Bigger, Explains Acquisition Ideology

Earlier today, Sony announced that Bluepoint Games is now part of the PlayStation family. While this won’t be the last studio acquisition by Sony, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst explained that the company isn’t just absorbing studios to get bigger, and even explained their ideology behind it.

They need to be quality-oriented. We’re not buying teams to just be bigger. We’re only buying teams because we feel that together, we’re going to make something that is going to be even better than if we did it separate from one another.

We are open always to building new relationships or bringing people in-house, but only if we adhere to the quality-first mentality and the right kind of innovative content, new experiences, diverse experiences. Because all of these teams, they share a lot, but they’re also very different from one another, and that’s what I really like

This is definitely the right mindset by Hulst, as the different first-party studios owned by Sony has arguably built the most diverse video game franchises in the industry.

Report: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition Spotted on Korean Ratings Board

Fans of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto games may be getting their nostalgia fix real soon, as it seems that the rumored Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remasted is indeed real! Spotted by Nibel a listing for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has appeared on the Korea based Game Rating and Administration Committee database.

Here’s an image in case the listing gets pulled:

Per the report by Kotaku before, this compilation will house Grand Theft Auto III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas — games that were released previously on the PS2.

While we’ll just have to wait and see whether Rockstar Games will make this official, this adds fuel to the rumor that surfaced before where it mentioned that the rumored GTA Remastered Trilogy was going to be made using the Unreal Engine, and set for a holiday release. It seems the trilogy has an official name now, though no exact release date just yet.

Obviously, treat this with a gran of salt for now, but given how many games were outed by ratings board that turned out to be legit, we suspect we’ll be playing this Grand Theft Auto compilation soon.

Sony has acquired another major player in the world of games, as PlayStation adds Bluepoint Games to the PlayStation Studios family — making things official after months of teases and rumors circulating that they were eyeing the Demon’s Souls remake developer.

Making the announcement via social media, Hermen Hulst of PlayStation Studios officially welcomed Bluepoint Games to their growing family of developers.

In an official statement released by the company, Bluepoint expressed their excitement to join the PlayStation Family as well as state they are happy to share similar goals with the brand.

Austin, Texas has been home base for Bluepoint from when we first founded the studio back in 2006 and we’re now a team of close to 70 super-talented creatives and growing. While the studio has certainly grown over the past 15 years, our cultural beliefs have remained the same- to always push the envelope and create the highest-quality games possible all while having fun doing it.  The focus on culture has been instrumental to our success and we’re excited that PlayStation Studios shares a similar culture and vision.

Having worked on remasters and HD collections for popular video game titles such as God of War, Metal Gear Solid, and Uncharted, Bluepoint joining forces with PlayStation can only mean bigger and better opportunities for fans and gamers alike. Now that things are official after an accidental reveal showed they were joining PlayStation family, we can expect more exciting things to come soon!

King of Fighters 15 Tokyo Game Show Trailers Spotlight Isla and K’

There’s plenty to look forward to in the next installment of SNK’s long running King of Fighters series, and we have new trailers available today. The new King of Fighters 15 Tokyo Game Show trailers are here, and they spotlight two fighters joining the playable roster in Isla and K’!

Premiering in the special KOF 15 special program segment for the Tokyo Game Show, here’s the brand new character Isla and her gameplay trailer!

In an interview with Kotaku on the creation of the character, King of Fighters 14 creative director Eisuke Ogura described that designing Isla came about when they were planning the story for KOF 15 — a female street fighter who serves as a rival to Shun’ei, the new lead protagonist of the current storyline of the series.

“Isla’s not very much into actual fighting like, you know, how you would beat somebody or kick somebody. Mostly, she relies on those two hands that you can see in the trailer. Her fighting style is more like dancing. It’s more special and unusual. You could describe it as very abnormal.”

It’s those floating hands that add an air of mystery about this unusual female fighter, and we’ll find out what role she plays in KOF 15 when the game launches next year.

Also making his return to the King of Fighters circle is another fan favorite — the hero of the NESTS saga himself, K’!

There’s also plenty of gameplay and exhibition matches that were featured on the Tokyo Game Show KOF 15 special program segment, and you can check the replay below!

The King of Fighters 15 is scheduled for release for PC and consoles on February 14. You can check out more details including the in-game HUD and main visuals here.
