Sony Plans to Bring More PlayStation Games to PC

Looks like PlayStation is allowing more of its content to be available for the PC master race, as Sony plans to bring more PlayStation games to PC!

According a report by Famitsu, the company recently acquired Nixxes Software — with the intent of bringing their established IPs to the PC platform and making it available for its users. This has been confirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, who spoke about the potential of bringing their games to PC.

“We are also happy with our efforts to provide our IP to PCs, although it is still in its infancy, and we look forward to working with Nixxes to help with that,”

While PlayStation has been proud of keeping their first-party titles such as Uncharted and The Last of Us close to the chest, allowing these games to be ported outside of a Sony console would be added revenue and provide more opportunities for the company to explore — especially with live-action adaptations of those Naughty Dog games coming to film and television respectively. In fact, Days Gone recently got a PC release — and while that game is enhanced for the platform it will not support ray tracing or DLSS as we covered in our report here.

  • Fixed a bug where Skeletal Mages’ Cold and Lightning Projectiles could not deal a Critical Hit.
  • Fixed a bug where item quantity modifiers did not affect drops for some items such as Crescent Splinters, Sacred Blossoms, and Expedition Artifacts.
  • Fixed a bug where Medved, Feller of Heroes could deal damage after death.
  • Fixed a bug where Excavated Chests in Expeditions could spawn underneath naturally occurring Chests, causing the Excavated Chests to be inaccessible.
  • Fixed a bug where Expedition encounters could be empty in areas such as The Ancient Pyramid, or Vaal Pyramid Maps.
  • Fixed a bug where completing the Upgrade a Modifier Level crafting offer from Rog would not grant credit towards the Broker Deals with Rog Challenge.
  • Fixed a bug where monsters had 0% maximum spell block, they now have 75% maximum spell block.
  • Fixed a bug where Helena’s available items in Act 7 would not refresh after you levelled up.
  • Fixed a bug where you could not purchase partial stacks of currency from vendors with Shift-Click.
  • Fixed a bug where online item filters could fail to load.
  • Fixed an instance crash related to Summon Reaper.

There’s also a hotfix rolled out today as well.

3.15.0d Hotfix:

  • Fixed a bug in Expedition where Tujen, The Haggler would accept an offer but not give you the item until confirmed a second time.

Don’t forget, Expeditions are live now on both consoles and PC.

Splitgate Servers Maintenance Triggered for July 28 (Update)

While the servers just kicked off yesterday, 1047 Games is taking the Splitgate servers down for some maintenance today, July 28! This was announced by the studio, and apologized for the abrupt downtime as well.

Splitgate Servers Maintenance Status – July 28:

Update: 1047 Games has announced that the servers will be offline for the rest of the day, and into tomorrow! Once we hear more news, we’ll either update this post (if it’s within the day), or get a new post up.

https://twitter.com/Splitgate/status/1420498254744100865

Here’s the message from the studio:

We’re taking servers offline at 1:15 pm PT for maintenance.

We’re sorry about the short notice and long waits. We’re letting you know as soon as we can but we need to get critical bug fixes in for further improved stability/capacity.

We will keep you posted with our progress

I know this is far from ideal. This is why we extended our beta, and we are working our absolute hardest. Money doesn’t solve the problem over night, but we are working hard to hire fast and ramp up the new hires

There is no current timetable on how long the maintenance period is, but we’ll update everyone once we know more.

Obviously, this isn’t an ideal situation for the small studio to constantly have to take their servers down. But that said, at least they are very communicative about it, and are resolving to mitigate it ASAP.

Keep an eye out on this post, as we’ll be updating it throughout the day as 1047 Games makes announcements and updates.

Check out the latest changes made to the game in the patch released yesterday.

Securing $100 million from Crossfire studio Smilegate, the newly minted studio is concentrating their efforts on a brand new game — which will be an original action adventure title that’s story driven and yet to be announced.

That’s No Moon will be based on Los Angeles and San Diego, with the figureheads and leaders of the group revealed by gameindustry.biz

  • Michael Mumbauer (CEO, former head of PlayStation’s Visual Arts Group)

  • Tina Kowalewski (chief strategy officer, current EVP and board member of Giant Squid and former director of product development at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio)

  • Nick Kononelos (COO, former senior development director at EA)

  • Barry Genova (CTO, formerly foundation engineering lead at Bungie)

  • George Allison (CFO, former head of finance for the Global Services Division at PlayStation)

While the company is made up of ex-Naughty Dog members, their former company is also busy opening up new job positions for their standalone multiplayer game – which you can read about here.

Battlefield 2042 Rent a Server Won’t Be Available at Launch, All Content in Battle Passes to Be Available in BF Portal

If you’re one of the many Battlefield veterans that enjoy those 24/7 Operation Metro servers, or just want your own server to fool around in with buddies, there’s good and bad news for you when it comes to Battlefield 2042 Rent a Servers (RSP).

In a video interview with Battlefield Nation, Ripple Effect Studios Senior Design Director Justin Wiebe answered a few questions about the game, and it’s new mode Battlefield Portal. When asked about the possibly of a Battlefield 2042 rent a server being available, Wiebe confirmed that it won’t be available at launch, and that it’ll be like the “community games” feature from Battlefield V where servers are hosted for free, though there needs to be at least one active player in it or it will shut down.

We when we launch the servers that people are gonna deploy, (they) are gonna be free for everyone, so regardless if you wanna say it’s just, you and w me against a whole bunch of AI, or if you wanna run a 128-player server, it’s absolutely free. Everybody can run one server at a time, basically so it means you can’t run a whole bunch of servers simultaneously. you can run one server, and that server is going to persist so as long as there’s even one player playing on that server. It will continue to run when that last player leaves, then the server will spin down, and then you know you know as the host you can choose to rerun that server the next time you log into the game, and deploy it again…it’s exactly like Battlefield V.

We also understand that there are some who are really big fans of the server rental program. That is something we’ve been actively talking about, but there’s no commitment to something like that at this time. We do understand that it is important to some of our community members, and so we’re actively taking a look at it

In the same interview, Wiebe confirmed that all content in the BF2042 Battle Passes will make its way onto Battlefield Portal as well!

We’ve got these seasonal Battle Pass that’s going to be launched, you know, with 2042, and so all of the content that is dropped in each season is also going to be made available inside of the (Battlefield Portal) Builder. So there’s going to be a constant flow of new toys — let’s call them that — that players are going to get to build with.

Hopefully, a proper rent a server program for BF2042 is in the cards, as we here at MP1st are already looking to launch an official MP1st server of our own.

PS5 Surpasses 10M Units Sold, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Sells Over 1M Copies in a Month

It seems Sony’s momentum with the PS4 is snowballing into the PS5! In a press release, Sony has announced that the PS5 has now surpassed over 10 million units sold worldwide! This makes the console the fastest selling system in Sony Interactive Entertainment history!

In addition to the hardware sales, Sony has also shared data from some of its recently released titles including Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart!

SIE also achieved additional milestones across its portfolio of PlayStation Studios games, including:

  • lMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales from Insomniac Games has sold more than 6.5 million copies* since releasing on November 12, 2020
  • lMLB® The Show™ 21 from San Diego Studio is the fastest-selling title in franchise history with more than 2 million copies* sold across all platforms. The game has reached more than 4 million players since releasing on April 16, 2021
  • lReturnal from Housemarque, a new IP that launched to critical acclaim, has sold more than 560,000 copies* since releasing on April 30, 2021
  • lRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart from Insomniac Games has sold more than 1.1 million copies* since releasing on June 11, 2021

Here’s what Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan had to say about the milestones:

I can’t express enough the deep gratitude we feel for our passionate community of PlayStation fans who have embraced PS5, and the world-class development and publishing partners who bring such incredible gaming experiences to our platforms. While PS5 has reached more households faster than any of our previous consoles, we still have a lot of work ahead of us as demand for PS5 continues to outstrip supply. I want gamers to know that while we continue to face unique challenges throughout the world that affect our industry and many others, improving inventory levels remains a top priority for SIE.

Given how it’s still significantly hard to buy a PS5, I’d say that this number would even be higher if Sony could manufacture more units.

In other PlayStation news, Sony has once again updated the trademark for PlayStation Home — suggesting something is happening with the online social platform!

Halo Infinite Technical Preview Invites Are Going Out

Halo insiders, better check those emails as 343 Industries has begun sending out invites to the Halo Infinite Technical Preview for this weekend.

While Halo Infinite isn’t due to release until this Holiday season, Microsoft and 343 Industries have decided to give some lucky players a taste at the game’s mulitplayer mode during this weekend flight testing. Users who correctly filled out their Halo Insider profile may be in for a surprise, as the studio has begun rolling out flight testing invites.

Halo Infinite Technical Preview

Furthermore, 343 Industries announced on Twitter today that they would be streaming a first look at the Halo Infinite Technical Preview tomorrow and would detail exactly what players would have access to.

What We Know About Halo Infinite Technical Preview

This weekend will be the first time ever that the public will be able to get their hands on Halo Infinite, and while there are more details to come ahead of the test, 343 Industries did give us a bit of information as to what players can expect.

This technical preview is intentionally focused on these specific areas to help us gather some scale data as we bring these new experiences to Halo for the first time. As we look further ahead, we plan for future flights to expand into more content including traditional PVP Arena and Big Team Battle.

With this and our higher-level feedback goals noted up above, we land on the following specific focal points. With this in mind, the focus areas for our technical preview are:

  • Arena gameplay vs. Bots
  • Arena Maps
  • Academy’s Weapon Drills

Battlefield Portal to Feature Weapon Balance Settings “Historical” and “Official”

With Battlefield 2042’s Battlefield Portal featuring maps, vehicles and weapons from past Battlefield games such as Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 3, and Bad Company 2, some gamers might be wondering how the old weapons would stand a chance against the newer rifles and armaments of Battlefield 2042. As it turns out there are two settings in place for this.

Speaking in a video interview with YouTuber JackFrags, Ripple Effect Studios Creative Director Thomas Anderson confirmed that there will be two weapon settings in Battlefield Portal — one for “official,” and another one for “historical.”

Thomas Anderson: We have two different tweaks for the weapons. We have that’s the “official” setting that is balanced against the 2042 weapons. Whether it’s a Thompson gun or whatever ttype thing is, right? These can stand against the offering that we have in 2042. And thern we have, we call this “Historical” tweaks. Let’s just say that it wasn’t easier to be an infantry in those days versus what it is today. Our historical tweaks are trying to recapture the feeling of that era. So if you want to create a very symmetrical game mode, you can have the historical tweaks of (BF) 1942 aside the modern tweaks of 2042. But it’s up to you if you want to set the official thing, or if you want the historical setting.

That makes e a ton of sense given a player using a BF1942 rifle would get destroyed by someone using anything from BF2042.

Battlefield 2042 is set to shoot out this October 22 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The Sims 4 Update 1.45 Jogs Out for Bug Fixes – July 27

Maxis has released The Sims 4 update 1.45 patch for today, July 27, and this brings a host of gameplay fixes and bug fixes to the game! Check out the official patch notes below.

The Sims 4 Update 1.45 Patch Notes:

PC:  1.77.146.1030 / Mac: 1.77.131.1230

Console: Version 1.45

Bug Fixes

Before telling you about the bug fixes we made in this update, I wanted to mention that in the last patch notes there was a slight mistake when referring to the improvements for Gallery and downloading a lot made with the bb.moveobjects cheat. For players, it actually means that you don’t need to manually activate the cheat prior to placing a lot from the Gallery for the objects to be exactly where the creator put them. Sorry for the confusion!

Oh! And if you are worried about Trophies and/or Achievements, this improvement doesn’t hinder either.

Consoles

  • For Simmers on PlayStation, Cottage Living now appears among the Expansion Packs in the “Packs” section of the Main Menu. We also reinstated Cats & Dogs there as it had wandered off as well.
  • For Simmers on Xbox, Cottage Living now shows its price on its information page from the Main Menu. Cats & Dogs and My First Pet Stuff have also returned and now take you to the bundle page on the Microsoft Store instead of a page saying it was Unavailable.

The Sims 4

  • Actors, Decorators, and Freelancers all… Sims in Gig-based careers once again can accept Gigs from the Career panel to earn those precious Simoleons. Make it werrrrk!
  • Zoomers Food Delivery has trained their delivery Zoomers (or is it Zoomies? Think about it!) to ACTUALLY deliver the food Sims have ordered. We apologize for all those missed meals.

Cats & Dogs

  • Pets in pre-existing households now are back with their households. Their absence just was not right – Pets are as much part of the Household as the Ghosts… just sayin’.

Island Living

  • New Mermaids no longer lose their tails and Hydration bar when swimming. For Mermaids made between the previous update and this one, you can restore their “Mermaidness” by eating Mermadic Kelp to become human and eating it again to become a Mermaid. You can also use the cheat “traits.equip_trait trait_OccultMermaid_TYAE” as a workaround as well.

Don’t forget, the Cottage Living expansion is out, and you can check out what’s in it here.

Report: Guilty Gear Strive Next DLC Fighters Revealed via Datamining

It appears that the next two fighters coming to Arc System Works latest chapter in the Guilty Gear franchise may have been revealed, as a recent data mine reveals the Guilty Gear Strive next DLC characters are Slayer and Baiken — two well known fan favorites in the series!

According to a tweet by Lean_Buscaglia, the entries of voices of two characters who have yet to be announced in Strive have been datamined — and it points to both Slayer and Baiken!

https://twitter.com/Lean_Buscaglia_/status/1419945021239959553

For those unfamiliar with who these characters are, here are their entries from the Guilty Gear characters wiki, including a little bit of what Baiken’s role in Strive will be.

Slayer is an ancient vampire who founded the Assassins Guild, he comes out of hiding when the Guild dives into chaos after Zato’s disappearance. Cultured and debonair, Slayer enjoys haiku and spends his time with his wife Sharon, another immortal. He also has a personal connection with Gabriel, the president of Zepp, but seems to be acquainted with all of the movers and shakers of the Guilty Gear universe. He has the apparent motive of either observing the cast, or warning them of being targeted by the Post-War Administration Bureau. He personally knows “That Man”/Asuka and that character seems to hold him in high regard since he apologizes to Slayer.

Baiken is among the few people born of Japanese descent. When she was young, her family was attacked by the Gears, a race of magical bioweapons that plunged the world into a hundred-year war known as the Crusades. After watching the death of her parents and losing her right arm and left eye, she swore revenge on the Gears creator, “That Man”. For this end, she trained herself in the use of the katana. She has many hidden surprise weapons within the sleeve of her severed arm: a Japanese mace, a fireworks cannon, a bladed fan, a rope dart, a hook, a claw, and a spear. As of Xrd, she wears an eyepatch goggle on her scarred eye and was brought by May to visit Kum Haehyun. In Strive, it turns out that Baiken’s actual target who she referred as “That Man” is not Asuka R. Kreutz, but his former teacher, Happy Chaos.

While all this still has yet to be confirmed or announced by Arc System Works, the first DLC character for Guilty Gear Strive in Goldlewis Dickinson as well as update 1.07 for the game have arrived and you can read about it here. We previously reported on the Season 1 DLC roster being datamined, as well as the roadmap for the season here.

Guilty Gear Strive is now available for PC, PS4, and PS5.
