Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC and New Personalization Packs Now Live on Xbox

Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ third multiplayer expansion titled Invasion is now appearing on Xbox Live’s Games Marketplace.

You’ll be able to download the add-on on Xbox One and Xbox 360 for $14.99 as a standalone purchase, or at no additional cost for Call of Duty: Ghosts Season Pass holders.

Two new personalization packs have also been added to the in-game store for Xbox users. You’ll find the new Resistance Squad pack for $3.99 and the Flags of the World pack for $1.99. The former introduces new American-themed skins for your soldier while the latter offers up new worldly camoflage and customization options for your weapon.

Check out all the Invasion DLC details below and be sure to click on the map titles to be taken to their individual preview pages featuring a ton of gameplay footage.

Departed

Bo1YYzfIEAA5zfm

“Departed” is a medium-sized map set in a rural Mexican town during the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. The colorfully decorated streets, vendor carts and storefronts provide ample cover for run-and-gunners, and players that complete the map’s unique Field Order will unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. Armed with dual-wielding pistols, the Death Mariachi settles scores, with each kill turning enemy players into another member of the band, and a temporary squad mate.

Pharaoh

Bo1YY0HIMAIQlMn

“Pharaoh” is the abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace. Players will have to be on the lookout for collapsing monuments and urns full of flesh-eating scarabs, among other surprises in this multi-level map. Inside the palace, gamers will battle through multiple chambers ideal for close-quarters combat and short-range weapons, all under the watchful eye of Anubis, the half-jackal/half-human, protector of the dead, who will handsomely reward players who unlock this map’s Field Order.

Mutiny

Bo1YY3mIYAAKjbY

Invasion’s third map, “Mutiny,” transports players to a remote Caribbean island harboring an eerie pirate hideout complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells. Speed and stealth are a must as players navigate the narrow and intertwining pathways. However, let ye be warned that gamers taking up positions on the pirate ship moored in the center of the map will become vulnerable to enemy fire from the numerous flanking routes created by the map’s horseshoe shaped dock. Players that unlock “Mutiny’s” Field Order will find themselves escorted by two ethereal ghost pirates, who will happily send enemy combatants down to Davey Jones’ locker on their behalf.

Favela

Bo1YY3EIQAAx9BW

Invasion’s fourth multiplayer map is a refreshed version of the fan-favorite map from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2, “Favela.” Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change. Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, with ramshackle scaffolding creating varied pathways between structures, and enemy snipers taking advantage of the long sightlines. Players who complete the Field Order in “Favela” will be able to call in heavy air support from a nearby Y-8 Gunship to bring the rain with a 105mm cannon, a 40mm auto-cannon and a 25mm cannon.

Extinction Episode 3: Awakening

Anchoring the Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC Pack is the next installment in the game’s Extinction mode episodic narrative, “Episode 3: Awakening.” In Awakening, the team descends into the perilous alien underworld to strike at the subterranean fortress of the Ancestors – the mysterious puppet-masters behind the Cryptid invasion. Armed with a range of new hi-tech weapons and equipment, the team must penetrate a series of defensive barriers to reach the Ark and unlock the secrets of the Ancestors’ psychic powers. As the final battle draws closer, the fate of the Earth and the future of the human race hang in the balance.

Destiny is the “Same Game” On Current and Next Gen Consoles, Says Bungie Producer

Despite the ambitious open-world project that Bungie’s shared-world shooter Destiny appears to be, the studio remains hopeful that players will be as pleasantly surprised with the less powerful previous generation version of the game as they are with its launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

There’s little doubt that Destiny will look drastically different on next-gen than it will on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but Bungie producer Pete Parsons promises it’s the same game regardless of platform choice. They key lies in the studio’s “ambitious technologies” hosted on their server infrastructure.

Hopefully players will be pleasantly surprised by how appealing it is on [last generation hardware]”, Parsons recently told Game Master. “It’s the same game, that was hugely important to us. Part of some of the really big, ambitious technologies set up for this… all of this lives on one set of servers. There’s one world that we’re building, and that is extended out to multiple platforms.”

He went on to describe some of the advantages the studio is taking with next-gen hardware, specifically with the PlayStation 4’s lightbar on the DualShock 4 controller.

“We’re taking advantage of the cool things Sony’s doing with the [PS4] platform. The Share feature’s great – I love that thing,” Parsons added. “We’re also doing some cool lightbar stuff that’s extremely subtle. If you didn’t look for it you wouldn’t see it: when your health’s low it’s pulsing red, when your super’s ready it’s flashing yellow, when you go into Hive areas it’s pale green. A lot of people aren’t going to notice it but it makes the experience richer, and when the fans notice that stuff we love it.”

On what console are you picking up Destiny when it launches this September 9?

Visceral to Include Battlefield YouTubers and Competitive Players in Hardline Development Process

Various Battlefield personalities within the competitive and YouTube communities are making clear their involvement in the development process of Visceral Games’ upcoming cops vs. criminals shooter, Battlefield Hardline.

Allegedly, they’re calling it EA’s “Game Changer” program, which, judging by tweets from participants, aims to utilize feedback from some of Battlefield’s most hardcore audience members to better shape the game as it marches closer to launch this Fall.

According to reports, it appears that a handful of these individuals took part in a recent play test of sorts at EA’s headquarters where they got some hands-on time with the game and supplied Visceral developers with valuable feedback.

Obviously, no one is giving out specifics as to what they saw or played, but you can get some insight by simply checking out some of the Twitter feeds we’ve included below:

I more than likely missed a few, but that should give you the gist of things.

It was recently confirmed that Visceral is, in fact, leading development on both multiplayer and single player for Battlefield Hardline, with collaboration from Battlefield veteran studio, Digital Illusions CE.

It’s cool to see EA get some of Battlefield’s most respected community members involved in the game’s development, and it’s likely also a way to make good with gamers still shaken up over Battlefield 4’s troubled launch.

Do you think this approach from EA will have a positive impact on final release?

Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC “Favela” Map Preview

One of the most iconic Call of Duty maps of all time is getting a next-gen make over in Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC, launching on Xbox Live this June 3.

Favela, a fan-favorite map that starred in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, appears to have been largely left untouched when it comes to layout and theme. Though, you’ll notice a few improvements and differences that you can check out in the official video preview above.

“Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change,” writes developer Infinity Ward in their previous Invasion DLC announcement. “Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, with ramshackle scaffolding creating varied pathways between structures, and enemy snipers taking advantage of the long sightlines.”

Reminiscent of the AC130 Killstreak from previous games, players who complete the map-specific Field Order reward will get access to the Y-8 Gunship to rain down fire on enemies with 104mm, 40mm, and 25mm cannons.

You can watch previous Invasion DLC map previews below as well:

Happy to see the return of Favela?

Update 1

Hitting you with a bit of nostalgia, here’s the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer reveal trailer, which you’ll find plays out almost exactly similar to the Call of Duty: Ghosts Favela trailer above and even highlights a similar game mode; Capture the Flag.

Open World Shooter From Crytek and Deep Silver, Homefront: The Revolution Arrives 2015, Catch the First Trailer

Today, developer Crytek UK and publisher Deep Silver unveil Homefront: The Revolution, sequel to Kaos Studios’ shooter Homefront, coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Mac, and Linux, in 2015.

Four years following the events of the original, a guerrilla band of rebels are forming in the “Badlands” of Philedelphia to overthrow its North Korean dictatorship.

Crytek calls it an open world shooter that reacts to your actions as you trigger the new revolution. Once again, players will face advanced tech and weaponry, using home brew weapons of their own.

More is to come during the game’s world premier at E3 2014, but here are the first details, courtesy of VG247.

  • Explore a living, breathing open world – experience true open world gameplay in a first person shooter, brought to life with astonishing CRYENGINE-powered visuals
  • Wage Guerrilla Warfare – this is no linear shooter; learn the art of guerrilla warfare and use ambush, infiltration and hit and run tactics against your foe in thrilling un-scripted firefights
  • Build the Resistance – recruit revolutionaries to the cause, establish bases and safehouses, capture and customise a deadly arsenal, and build improvised, homebrew weapons for your Guerrilla Tool Kit
  • Ignite the Revolution – from oppressed citizen to revolutionary leader, an epic single-player campaign tells the story of the second War of Independence. The dynamic, evolving world responds to your actions as an oppressed nation rises up in defiance against the occupation
  • Online Co-OP – take the battle online, form a Resistance Cell with your friends and earn your reputation as Heroes of the Revolution

Interestingly, the key points make no mention of multiplayer – only an online co-op mode of sorts. If you recall, the original had quite a focus on competitive multiplayer that played similar to EA’s Battlefield games and Activision’s Call of Duty games. Check out the trailer above and stay tuned for details from Homefront: The Revolution’s E3 debut.

Watch the Mortal Kombat X Trailer, Confirms X-Rays Moves And Interactable Items Return [Updated]

Today is the day Mortal Kombat fans have been waiting for. Marking the the end of Ed Boon’s month-long cryptic countdown to today’s announcement, today, NetherRealm Studios unveils Mortal Kombat X.

Check out the official first trailer accompanied by new music from Pittsburgh rapper, Wiz Khalifa.

From the looks of the unveiling, one of the newest features in Mortal Kombat 9 will be making its way to its successor. This is, of course, is the X-ray special move that you can see Scorpion performing on one of his long-time nemesis, the original Sub-Zero:

U3PkRSs

R8bCBOP

We also see moments during the brawl where Sub-Zero uses items around him to try to get the edge on Scorpion, such as ripping off a tree branch and turning it into a frozen mace, which confirms interact-able items from Injustice: Gods Among Us will be featured in Mortal Kombat X.

Later in the video, we also see Sub-Zero using his surroundings once more to perform an offensive move in hopes to stun Scorpion:

He later picks up a frozen sword:

Aside from the above, not much information on the game was given out. However, the end of the video confirms the recent Amazon listings for Mortal Kombat X, noting that the game will be released sometime in 2015. Though, if were to go by NetherRealm Studios’ past releases, it should be some time in the month of April. The trailer’s source code also suggests a cross-gen release.

Expect more news on Mortal Kombat X during E3 2014, according to a recent interview with Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise.

What’s your take on next-gen Mortal Kombat? Excited for its return?

Update

Check out the game’s key art featuring Scorpion:

MortalKombatX_KeyArt_Crop-670x437The official press release also mentions new characters and game modes. “Mortal Kombat has always been about over-the-top, visceral fighting and with Mortal Kombat X we wanted to utilize the power of new-gen consoles to give players our most intense game yet,” it reads. “The team has worked hard to make sure Mortal Kombat X delivers everything fans expect along with new characters, new game modes and an all new graphics engine.”

Update 2

According to the game’s description on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel, Mortal Kombat X will include the ability to choose from various variations of each character. This will impact both strategy and fighting style.

They also mention that the game will be a fully-connected gameplay experience as players are launched into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy. From the looks of it, it’ll be a battle between each realm. Your character will change depending on which realm you are a part of.

Battlefield Hardline – GM Confirms Visceral as Lead on Multiplayer and Single Player “With Collaboration From DICE”

Following some of the slight confusion surrounding the teams involved in Battlefield Hardline‘s production, Visceral general manager Steve Papoutsis confirms exactly who is developing what in EA’s recently unveiled Fall shooter.

Earlier reports suggested Battlefield 4 developer DICE was leading multiplayer production on Hardline, while Dead Space developer Visceral Games was pinned as the lead on the game’s single player experience.

As Patpoutsis has cleared up in a recent tweet, Visceral is, in fact, leading the development process for both Hardline’s multiplayer and single player, but not without some assistance from DICE and their expertise with the franchise.

This will be the first time that the entire multiplayer component of a shooter carrying the name “Battlefield” will not ship as the direct product of DICE’s work, though their influence will likely show. The news isn’t too surprising either, considering the amount of work DICE currently has cut out for them, including Star Wars: Battlefront and Mirror’s Edge 2.

Battlefield Hardline is scheduled to launch this Fall on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC with the first official details to come during EA’s media briefing on June 9 at E3 2014.

You can read up on some of the first leaked details of the Cops vs. Criminals-themed shooter right here.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Wii U Listing Spotted on Official E3 Page

Activision’s most ‘advanced’ Call of Duty yet may be making an appearance on Nintendo’s next-gen console along with Sony and Microsoft’s platforms, including the PC, this Fall, according to an official E3 2014 page.

Details on Activision’s E3 2014 booth spotted on this page list Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for the Wii U, among other platforms.

CODAW_WiiU

Thus far, publisher Activision has yet to officially list the Wii U as a platform that you’ll be able to play Advanced Warfare on, but it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, considering both Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ appearances on the console previously.

Any hesitation in announcing the game’s arrival on the Wii U may have to do with the likelihood of a developer other than Sledgehammer handling Advanced Warfare’s production on the console, as is the case with both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game this year. Wii U versions of the previous two iterations of Call of Duty were also announced following the game’s initial unveiling.

Stay tuned for details!

How many Wii U players out there that would love to see Advanced Warfare come to your platform?

Call of Duty eSports Teams Were ‘Blown Away’ By Early Preview of Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty eSports teams are already getting their hands on Sledgehammer Games’ upcoming Call of Duty title and are expressing their early opinions on social media.

According to tweets from known eSports personality, Matt “Nadeshot” Haag of OpTic Gaming, he, along with other members of the eSports community, presumably, were recently invited to preview Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, likely at Sledgehammer Game’s studio in Foster City, California. Naturally, details of the event remain secret, but Haag’s public reaction to what he saw appears overwhelmingly positive thus far.

“Visited @SHGames to preview #AdvancedWarfare and I was blown away,” he wrote. “It’s going to be an amazing year for CoD eSports. Can’t wait for 11-4-14!”

Haag, who recently offered up his brutal opinions on developer Infinity Ward and Call of Duty: Ghosts, calling it the “worst Call of Duty in the franchise,” also mentioned his new found excitement for team at Sledgehammer.

“I can honestly say that @SHGames is now one my favorite game developers after yesterday’s trip,” he added. “Such an unbelievable experience.”

The way things are unfolding, it sounds like Call of Duty’s competitive community has a solid launch to look forward to this November 4. Last April, Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey was seen on Twitter explaining that “The competitive scene is v.important to @SHGames,” adding that he and the team “Can’t wait to talk eSports!”

While the casual crowd may not appear all too excited for an eSports-focused Call of Duty title, a shooter with a strong competitive scene tends to mean good things for gameplay and balance. Either way, it’s nice to hear such positive reactions to some of the early samples these gamers are getting of Advanced Warfare.

Thanks, Sora26

Mortal Kombat 10 Listed For 2015 Release, According To Amazon

Mortal Kombat fans wait patiently for tomorrow’s Mortal Kombat-related announcement from NetherRealm Studios, expecting news of Mortal Kombat 10, as alluded to by the cryptic tweets and announcement hints from Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon.

A day early, it appears that some details for “Mortal Kombat X” have leaked ahead of time, including available platforms and launch time frame. This listing was recently spotted on Amazon UK:

AByoxSb

It shouldn’t be too surprising to see a Mortal Kombat X release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 alongside their successors, considering NetherRealm Studios has been showing much interest in the fighting game community lately, as they still include Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us as a part of their big tournaments.

What is surprising is seeing a PC version of Mortal Kombat X slated for release alongside consoles, as Mortal Kombat 9 took two years to be released on the PC.

Additionally, the 2015 release date also contradicts the release date spotted by Games.it whom reported that Australian retailer Oz Shop Games listed Mortal Kombat X for November 22 of this year. Oz Shop Games responded with the following:

The only thing for certain at this time is that we’ll find out “Who’s Next?” tomorrow at 8:00 AM CST, according to Boon. Excited for Mortal Kombat X?

Mortal Kombat 10 May Include Kinect Features On Xbox One

With the news a few weeks ago that Microsoft will ship a Kinectless Xbox One bundle starting June 9, the decision has left many to wonder if developers would continue to invest in features that take advantage of the Kinect sensor in future games.

That brings us to an interesting tweet from the co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Ed Boon, who is seemingly gauging interest for the device and perhaps its integration with his upcoming Mortal Kombat title.

Depending on general feedback, it appears that NetherRealm Studios may be willing to add Kinect functionality for the Xbox One version of Mortal Kombat 10, which is looking more and more like it is set to be officially unveiled this Monday, June 2 at 8:00 AM CST.

For more news regarding Mortal Kombat 10, which is all but officially konfirmed at the moment, stay tuned to MP1st.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC “Mutiny” Map Preview

Leading up to its June 3 launch on Xbox Live, Call of Duty: Ghosts developer Infinity Ward is previewing yet another new multiplayer map from the game’s upcoming Invasion DLC.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Double XP Now Live, Reinforce Game Mode Enters Public Playlists

Announced earlier this week, Call of Duty: Ghosts’ latest double XP weekend event is now live across all platforms, meaning you can rank up twice as fast in Ghosts’ multiplayer, and that’s always a good thing.

As is normally the case, it’s likely developer Infinity Ward’s intention to celebrate the upcoming launch of Ghosts’ Invasion DLC this June 3 on Xbox Live, which you can learn more about right here. You’ll notice that the iconic Favela map is returning, which has us pretty excited.

Also noteworthy is that the new game mode Reinforce, previously a private playlist game mode only, is now available to play in public playlists.

Infinity Ward describes it as a “round-based game mode that takes elements from Domination and Search and Rescue.”

“There are three objective markers for teams to capture and respawns are disabled,” the studio writes. “If a team captures a point, they are ‘reinforced’ and all dead teammates are allowed back into the round. There are multiple ways to win a round: Wipe out the entire enemy team, control two objective points when the time limit runs out, or capture all three flags for an instant victory. The first team to win four rounds wins the match.”

So, soak up some double XP and check out the new game mode. Tell us what you think about it in the comments.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – Meet Wolf And Saint, Wilhelm’s Action Skill

Ever wanted to know what it would feel like if you could have Roland’s turret and Gaige’s Deathtrap abilities at the same time? If so, meet Wolf and Saint who happen to be Wilhelm The Enforcer’s new action skill in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!

When activated, Wilhelm sends both Surveyor bots out into the fray. However, they’re both very different from one another as Saint, the more defensive Surveyor bot, will stay by your side to constantly heal you and comes equip with that pesky shield that Surveyor bots deploy in Borderlands 2.

Wolf, the other Surveyor bot that Wilhelm deploys alongside Saint, is much more aggressive. In fact, Wolf will actually seek out targets and engage them on its own much like Gaige’s action skill, Deathtrap.

Since deploying Wolf and Saint is Wilhelm’s action skill, we can expect some type of upgrades for them, depending on what skill tree we decide to out points into. According to the Hunter Killer skill tree for Wilhelm, we can expect the following skills to boosts our robotic helpers:

Unfortunately, the new video from IGN doesn’t go over all of his skills in the Hunter Killer skill tree, but we do know his middle skill tree is called Cyber Commando. This is likely where Wilhelm probably gets augmented with more robotic parts the further you go down that tree.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel arrives this Fall for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
