Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Is the “First Step of a Franchise” Says Don’t Nod, But Sequel Not Guaranteed

If you played Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden to completion, you might have noticed that the game’s multiple endings — while have their conclusions — leaves the game open for a sequel. Now, the big question here is: are we getting a Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden sequel?

This was the very question we asked Don’t Nod in our exclusive interview, and while the studio didn’t confirm a second chapter is in the cards, their answer didn’t shoot the idea down, either.

MP1st: Is the studio planning a sequel? Maybe a DLC to expand on the story or ending? Or is Banishers more of a one-off thing?

Stéphane Beauverger, Narrative Director: We always consider our games as the first step of a franchise. As a Narrative director, it is part of my job to think ahead about future possible games taking place in the same universe. But such decisions are not made only by creative teams, more teams are included in the process!

While Don’t Nod’s Beauverger’s answer doesn’t guarantee a sequel is in development, it is part of their thought process, so don’t be surprise if one is in the works.

Of course, with the game’s multiple endings (there are four which you can read about here), Don’t Nod has to choose which one is canon to the story, though that’s also something we asked the studio in our chat.

In the same interview, Don’t Nod mentioned why they’re not warm to the idea of adding New Game+ to Banishers, and how it will reap “small” benefits.

If you’ve yet to play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, you might want to remedy that, as it’s a solid open-world action game. Check out our review here where I state, “Prepare yourself for the first surprise hit of the year, and if the game’s quality is any indication, this looks like the start of a new franchise.”

XDefiant Tech Issues Causing Delay Explained by Dev

While XDefiant had a successful open beta that saw the game feature-complete (for the most part), fans of the game (this writer included) was surprised to see the game get delayed multiple times to the point that now don’t even have a release window to look forward to.

The dev team was communicative in the delays, but never fully explained why the upcoming free-to-play game — which played like it was ready for release — got pushed back so many times and as to why. As it turns out, there are very specific issues concerning the servers and other technical stuff that prevented the game from being shipped in time. This has now been explained by XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin, who goes into a little bit more detail as to what issues they are tackling currently.

This was communicated by Rubin over on Twitter/X, where a fan asked the same questions a lot of players who tried the beta had as well.

Rubin also chimed in on another gamer who mentioned that the game should have been released in October with the dev team adding improvements to the game post-release.

Continuing with the technical talk, Rubin mentions that if they launched XDefiant without a proper party system and the present netcode they had, the game would be DOA (Dead on Arrival).

With Rubin’s explanation that the netcode is being rebuilt, we now understand why it’s taking so long. And nope, the rumor that it’s due to execs pushing for the game to be more like Call of Duty is not true and has been debunked by Rubin himself.

XDefiant has no release date, but we’re hoping that it’ll be soon. Expect news about it to be available this week, and once we know more, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it.

XDefiant Rumor of Being Pushed to Be More Like Call of Duty as Cause for Delay Debunked, Update on Game Status Out Soon

While we haven’t heard from Ubisoft regarding XDefiant for quite some time now, a recent rumor mentioned that the delays were caused by Ubisoft execs forcing the game to be more like Call of Duty and for the dev team to add more features.

This “report” has been debunked by XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin, who went on Twitter to state that the delays have nothing to do with new features, and instead is all about the tech issues.

In addition to that, it seems we should be getting some official news regarding the shooter this coming week! Rubin has made this announcement just now, and even confirmed that the delays are due to major technical issues, and not just the dev team trying to fix every last bug in the game.

For readability, we’ve compiled Rubin’s tweet chain below.

“We have an update coming soon. (probably this coming week) I know we’ve been silent because to be honest there isn’t much to talk about. I know people just want to see the game ship and so do we.

I can’t wait to ship just so we don’t have to talk about ship dates anymore and we can talk about more important stuff like gameplay balancing or new content/modes/maps, etc.

Just to be clear we are not just sitting around with the game fixing every last little bug. Nobody launches perfect bug-free games. We do our best but it’s just not realistic to think that. We had major technical issues that we found right before we launched that had to be fixed.

And that’s what the team has been working on. And they are not just minor bug fixes but major infrastructure and full system overhauls. The game remains the same that you played already which we have strived to make as fun as possible which we feel confident about.

So aside from questions about launch which I can’t talk about, I’m happy to chat about most anything else related to the game.

For instance, I can confirm that no push has been made to put SBMM into the game. Our Unranked playlists will still have no SBMM and you will get the variety of gameplay that you see when there isn’t SBMM.”

In other XDefiant news, a recent datamine seems to have unearthed what Season 1 of the free-to-play shooter will bring to gamers. Not only that, but we also ran an opinion piece on why we think XDefiant’s delay is doing more than what Ubisoft thinks.

Report: Overwatch 2 PvE Content Canceled, Blizzard to “Double Down” on PvP

It seems that PvE (player vs. environment) is dead in Overwatch 2, as a new report claims that past story PvE sold so low that Blizzard Entertainment has now decided to cancel all future PvE plans to focus more on PvP (player vs player).

According to a new newsletter by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, sources have contacted him to confirm that all future PvE content for Overwatch 2 has essentially been canceled, as Blizzard has no plans to finish them.

Last year, Overwatch 2 received a paid pack of three PvE story missions that sold poorly, according to people familiar with the business, which was a major reason for the cratering bonuses. In January, as part of a company-wide reduction in its work force, the majority of the team behind Overwatch 2’s PvE was laid off.

Overwatch 2 developers were informed that the company does not plan to finish any of the remaining planned PvE content and will instead double down on competitive player vs. player gameplay, according to the people familiar.

Though many in the Overwatch community could have told you they saw this coming, it’s still disappointing for those hoping to see more content from it. If true, the question then begs, what does Blizzard plan on doing with the current stuff available? Will they issue refunds to those who purchased in, in the form of in-game currency or something else? Will they forever be stuck on the menu or pushed back and slowly forgotten?

Who knows, but we fully expect to see a statement from the studio soon if this is true.

Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Release Date Revealed; Pushed Back So People Can Enjoy Elden Ring DLC

Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail expansion release date has officially been announced, and while it is coming soon, according to game director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, the release could have been sooner, but Elden Ring got in the way.

As announced during the Final Fantasy 14 panel at PAX East, Yoshi-P confirmed that Dawntrail, Final Fantasy 14’s next expansion, will officially be released on July 2, 2024. Many will probably notice that this comes a little over a week after Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release. That’s not by coincidence either, as Yoshi-P jokingly stated while on stage that they wanted players (including himself) to be able to experience the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC before Dawntrail’s release.

Sure, Yoshi-P jokes about it, but considering the massive success of Elden Ring, releasing after the DLC is a wise choice to avoid potential overshadowing. Either way, I know for sure I’ll be enjoying both when they drop, and it seems that June and July are starting to become quite the busy month of gaming.

In addition to the release date, the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail – Collector’s Edition and pre-order bonuses have also been revealed!

• Journey westward towards Tural, and to the city of Tuliyollal
• Explore new areas, including the mountainous Urqopacha and the forest of Yak T’el
• New Allied Tribes, including the diminutive Pelupelu who wear distinctive masks and inhabit Urqopacha
• Level Cap increase from 90 to 100
• Multiple New Jobs
• Core Battle Content including FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Hunts and Sidequests
• New Dungeons
• New Threats, including Valigarmanda
• Duty Support Update
• New Gear and Recipes
• Expansive New Lifestyle Content
• New Variant Dungeons, Alliance Raid, 8-Player Raid and Ultimate Raid
• PvP Update
• Ongoing Content Updates, including a Blue Mage Update, Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures, New Plans for Deep Dungeons and a Gold Saucer Update
• First graphical update for both character and world visuals
…and more!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mod Already Makes Microtransactions Obsolete on PC

To the absolute surprise of no one, mods have already been starting to release for Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 just a mere day after its release, which renders the whole microtransaction debacle on the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 quite irrelevant.

While I did write yesterday about all the misinformation going around about the microtransactions in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and about how nothing is locked behind a paywall, it seems that modders were already hard at work at breaking the game, testing out what can be broken and such. One of those mods is centered around items that Capcom is selling for real-life money.

Dubbed the “Fast Travel Pack,” this mod adds nearly unlimited items to the first shop you encounter in the game, Melve. The items in question are tied to rare resource items you can get free in the game, though they are limited in number. They’re also items being sold for real money on storefronts that everyone is currently upset over.

These include Elite & Explorer Camp Kit, Wakestones, Rift Crystals, and Farrystones, with the first shop having 999 of each available to purchase with in-game currency (not real money). You’ll still need to get gold, so unless you cheat, this mod doesn’t break as much as you might think; it just makes things more accessible and easier.

The mod is currently available on Nexusmods, though it warns players that all mods should be uninstalled first, then you should buy what you want and then uninstall it afterward.

Of course, using mods may come with the potential risk of being banned from Dragon’s Dogma 2 online. To be fair, the online is mostly for recruiting pawns created by other players, with a large batch still being available offline. So you wouldn’t lose much, as there is no PvP (player vs. player) combat or any cooperative play.

Another mod, “Early n’ Cheap Art of Metamorphosis,” is also available on Nexusmods. This mod gives you unlimited access to modify your character as you please.

With these mods, you’ll never ever have to worry about running out of the items above, or get tempted to purchase any microtransactions.

Enotria: The Last Song Xbox Version Not Cancelled, Studio Clarifies in Apology Letter

Just a few days ago, developer Jyamma Games announced the release date for Enotria: The Last Song (a new souls-like based on Italian folklore) for Aug. 21, and oddly enough, it’s only set to appear on PS5 and PC, which is something that didn’t go over well with the Xbox community.

Threads on Reddit and even Twitter have sparked discussion about the studio and the game.

Xbox Version of Enotria Last Song has been suspended
byu/Informal_Jelly_8430 inXboxSeriesX

The furor didn’t go unnoticed by the studio, as Jyamma Games has now issued a direct statement confirming that the Enotria: The Last Song Xbox version is not cancelled, and will be worked on once the PS5 and PC versions are released.

In a press release, Jyamma Games CEO Giacomo Greco released a statement explaining why they are releasing the PS5 and PC versions first.

“We are well aware that the news of the lack of presence on Xbox on day one is causing a lot of discussion on this issue and we want to clarify with this official statement some aspects of the matter. We have been discussing the release on all platforms at the same time for a long time, I am sorry to have communicated it only now, but it is a choice that has just been made few days ago, (the proof is by the fact that even FGS did not know), only after I was officially informed about that, making the release on all platforms would lead to a decrease in the overall quality of the product and a further delay of the same. I want you to know that the delay caused by the launch on the same date of one of our competitors gave us the opportunity to take more time to further improve the product, this led to raising the bar and , as CEO, i’m responsible for the final quality of the product. Having said that, I would never have allowed our game to come out discreetly on all platforms, I prefer the game to be perfect on 2 platforms rather than discreet on 3. When we release the game, we’ll also be working on the Xbox version, as well as the DLC, so we can also give the game to Microsoft users. The choice fell on ps5 rather than on Xbox simply because we have a relationship with our partners in Asia (SEGA) with whom we have agreements that we want to respect for them as a matter of respect. As you may all know, the Asian market is for a large part dominated by the PlayStation, so the PS5 was the logical choice. I want to point out, however, some things, Jyamma Games is an independent software house that has never been funded by anyone, including Microsoft, some accusations that have been made by some users are at the limit of the legal complaint about this issue.

I hope that now everything is clearer and that the Xbox community is not offended for a choice that was forced to make”

Well, there you have it, Xbox gamers! Enotria for Xbox is still coming, but you’ll just have to wait a bit longer for it.

Set for release this Aug. 21, you can read about Enotria: The Last Song’s features, game length and more here.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Doesn’t Lock Any Features Behind a Paywall, But Microtransactions Are Still Rubbish

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently under a lot of scrutiny, as it launched with an onslaught of microtransactions for a title that is otherwise mostly a single-player game. While there have been some reasonable criticisms over it, there has also been quite a lot of misinformation, with many claiming that Capcom is locking gameplay mechanics behind those microtransactions. Let’s clear the air of that.

You Can Buy Character Editing Items, Resources, and Fast Travel Mechanics, But None of These Are Locked Behind Paying

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has officially launched, though not without problems. The PC and console versions all appear to be suffering from performance issues and several other technical issues, though what has recently blown up across social platforms is the fact that Capcom has without warning, released a large collection of microtransactions for the game.

Understandably, players aren’t happy, with many online reviewers even admitting to feeling blindsided by Capcom’s action despite the publisher actually telling us of their microtransaction plans well ahead of release. I mentioned this in my review of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and I wasn’t happy about seeing them do it, though, in the end, it didn’t play much of a role in my experience with the game, disabled or not. I’ll talk more about this later, as I agree with the majority that this is one of the dumbest things to see in a single-player game.

First, I wanted to talk about the misinformation spreading about these sold items and the fact that Capcom greedily locked gameplay mechanics behind the microtransactions. This is untrue, as everything you can buy is earnable in-game.

This isn’t just the case of what some GaaS (Games as a Service) titles do, where things are earnable, but it’s purposely made to be a grind. No, within the first few hours of the game, Rift Crystals, camping kits, Wake Stones, and even the character editors can all be earned with little to no effort in a short time. Some items are limited in numbers per playthrough, like those character editors, and some rare traversal items, like the Portcrystals, but they are completely free and in the game. You can get about three of them fairly early, too, by completing a few questlines. But before that, fast traveling did exist via Ox cart: granted, they can be interrupted if an enemy attacks them during travel, but they do function as fast travel if that doesn’t happen, and that’s meant to be used in the early portions of the game, with the capital having a free dedicated PortCrystal, with one other far area, and the rest unlocking later in the story progression, and of course the quantity versions of them that can be found.

Don’t get me wrong, Capcom selling Portcrystal, one of the rarest items in the game, is scummy (again, I’ll talk more on this later), but it doesn’t lock fast travel behind a paywall. It’s (the fast traveling system), in my opinion, a poor design choice, something carried forward from the last games, much like the single save system, but none of that is being locked by a paywall.

Granted, the director did say they disliked fast travel and all they had to do it make it fun, only for Capcom to sell the items to make it more accessible, which is absolute bonkers.

Everyone is taking the word of a few user reviews as fact when the reality is that things are being blown out of proportion to how they are in-game.

In some ways, the microtransactions remind me of how players called Helldivers 2 a pay-to-win experience. Yeah, that’s a GaaS title, so microtransactions are expected, but because players saw weapons and such included in the War Bonds, they assumed that it was a pay-to-win experience (despite no PvP). The microtransactions, which revolved around currency, were solely for unlocking the War Bond earlier instead of grinding for resources, but the work to unlock those weapons still had to be put in.

The microtransactions in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are solely for unlocking things earlier than intended. Granted, this doesn’t excuse them in any way, which does bring us to the real problem. Why are they even in the game to begin with?

Capcom Has a Massive Microtransaction Problem That Needs to Stop

I understand that making these video games costs a lot, and publishers will always look for any means to recoup and make extra money. I get that; it’s the way of business, and anyone following Capcom knows they have been doing this for a long time. The first Dragon’s Dogma and even Dark Arisen had loads of them (no more), and those came out over 12 years ago.

Since then, Capcom has been adding microtransactions into their single-player games. Some of the Devil May Cry games had them, some of the Resident Evil games had them, and any online game by Capcom has them. Heck, even Mega Man X Remake for the iOS had them. For the publisher, this has already become their norm a long time ago.

I’m not saying we should roll over and accept it, but the reality is that those saying that they are doing this for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and thinking it will become normal have already ignored that it has become normal.

The weird thing is that most of these single-player games from Capcom that have microtransactions are pretty “invaluable,” as the items themselves aren’t even that big of a thing. Look at Mega Man X for iOS and what was offered for sale.

Outside the BGM pack, none of these are locked behind paying, and anyone who has played this game knows just how easy these are all to get.

Let’s look at some of their other games.

There’s some stuff in there, like the costumes, but most of these are completely free and take no time to earn.

This normalization people are worried about Capcom doing has been normal for a very long time now.

But here’s the problem: why do any of these even exist in the first place? It’s one thing if your game is super grindy, but in most of these cases, all of this stuff is easy to come by. It’s the same for Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is why I’m not bothered that you can pay and buy these things, as they’re just thrown to you. I’m bothered by the fact that Capcom would take something with so much insignificance and try to put a price value on it, making it seem like they’re more valuable than they are.

It’s like me going outside, picking some dirt from my driveway, and selling it off. Who in the right mind would pay for something like that? There are probably people out there, but you can see how ridiculously dumb that is, that it’s almost exploitive.

They could have really locked stuff, like exclusive costumes and gear, behind a paywall, something we’ve seen with Street Fighter 6, so this is better than the alternative, but at the end of the day, I just can’t see a reason why they would even do this. There’s almost no time saved with the microtransactions in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and they add way less value to the game than they’re worth; in a few hours, you’ll have earned more than most of what you get from those packs, only to find out how little you’ll end up using them.

What’s the point, Capcom? I’m right there with players who say they have no place in these games. This is almost like selling cheat codes that give you more resources, and it’s dumb. I’m not saying to come up with something else (that’ll likely be garbage); don’t do it. The backlash, user reviews, and refund rate clearly show that this isn’t done for anyone. I can’t tell you if this will be a massive hit on sales, but I can say this isn’t doing the game any favor.

Gamers are tired of seeing this stuff in their single-player games; no matter how optional they are and how redundant these games end up making them, they have no place in these games to begin with.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is still a fantastic game, and I don’t think the number of microtransactions that came out suddenly changed that. I played through it without them, and I don’t see why I would ever need to purchase them now. Everything offered is right there in the game, and they’re not even saving you that much time. Take the prison key.

Imagine spending money on a key to escape the prison in Dragon’s Dogma 2 when there’s a wall that you can punch in your cell and leave the prison in less than 10 seconds. That’s not a joke; Capcom is selling a prison key so you can break out of prison and take longer to do it versus the alternative.

I’m not saying make this microtransaction worthwhile because, again, don’t do it. But the publisher’s greed is obvious, as they hope to reel uneducated players into buying these things.

They think their markets of players don’t see through it, but we do, and we’re getting tired of seeing it.

Battlefield 2042 Season 7 Feedback on Weapon Visual Recoil, Win Rates for Haven Map Revealed

Just a few days ago, DICE released the Season 7 patch for Battlefield 2042 that not only brought in new weapons and a new map, but quite a number of changes as well, which includes weapon visual recoil. Not a fan of that? You’re not the only one, and DICE has chimed in on the Battlefield 2042 Season 7 feedback.

Battlefield 2042 Season 7 Feedback:

Here’s what the studio announced over on Twitter/X via the official Battlefield Direct account where the win rates for the new map, Haven, were also revealed.

Visual Weapon Recoil

We continue to treat this as a high priority and are working towards placing some of these fixes that you’re reporting in either the upcoming Hotfix (April 2nd) or within the next Game Update.

Thank you for the continued feedback regarding Visual Weapon Recoil, keep highlighting it to us as we continue to work towards improving this for you.

Image

Win Rates for Haven CQ

We’re constantly assessing a lot of data and feedback
to ensure you have a great round of Conquest.

At Midnight UTC today, we’ll be making a change to the Ticket Count on Haven CQ from 900 to 1300.

While we’re seeing positive signs that the win rates are quite equal for both teams on this map.

We are seeing feedback that it is often difficult for each team to take and control objectives throughout a match, with the start of the round being the most crucial part.

This is an area of improvement, as having the ability to fight back in Conquest is extremely important to the intrinsic nature of that mode.

With an increase in tickets, we anticipate that each team will still have an equal chance at winning.

However, it should also lead to more opportunities to gather your squad and work towards a fight-back moment.

We’ll follow up next week with any further alterations or signs of improvement to this data and your feedback.

Of course, these aren’t the only issues from the Season 7 patch, as DICE has acknowledged others as well.

If there’s a new patch for the changes in weapon visual recoil, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passage of Ferocity Your third match win grants a bonus win. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Mercy Forgives one loss per run. Forgives a second loss if you have not yet been flawless this week. 1500 Glimmer

Final Fantasy 16 “The Rising Tide” DLC Releases April 18; Quality of Life Features Incoming

Remember seven months ago when Square Enix confirmed that two paid DLC expansions are incoming for Final Fantasy 16? While we already got Echoes of the Fallen last December, we now know the title of the other one, and it’s Final Fantasy 16’s “The Rising Tide” DLC.

This was revealed by Square Enix during the PAX East 2024 livestream, where it also mentions that Final Fantasy 16  The Rising Tide DLC will be released this April 18, 2024 for $19.99! There will also be a discounted Expansion Pass containing both The Rising Tide and Echoes of the Fallen for just $24.99.

In addition to the DLC, everyone will also get a slew of quality-of-life improvements in an upcoming title update.

Some of the confirmed improvements in the title update dubbed version 1.30 are:

  • Return to a quest giver immediately with new “Quick Complete” function
  • Icons update for important character quests
  • New Skill Set feature allows you to save up to 5 unique Feat and Ability sets
  • Abilities and Accessories adjusted to make easier to use
  • New controller type allows for customizable button layouts

Chances are, this quality-of-life improvements will be released the same day as the DLC, as is the case with these kind of things.

While we are getting new DLC for the game, don’t expect a direct sequel for it, as the dev team has already disbanded.

If you’ve yet to play FF16 (FFXVI), I suggest you remedy that, as it’s one heck of an RPG. Our review can be read in full here where we state, “Those looking for the series’ return to glory, rejoice! Final Fantasy XVI is that game, and this is one fantasy you’ll want to make sure you’re a part of.”

Thanks, RPGMoogle!

Capcom Addresses Dragon’s Dogma 2 PC Concerns: Starting a New Game, MTX and More

While Dragon’s Dogma 2 seems to be another top-tier release by Capcom in terms of gameplay, it seems the PC version of the action-RPG has quite a bit of issues tied to it. It’s gotten a bit much, as Capcom has addressed the Dragon’s Dogma 2 PC concerns.

According to Capcom, they have received “numerous comments” from the community about the following topic:

Crashes and bug fixes
We are investigating/fixing critical problems such as crashes and freezing.
We will be addressing crashes and bug fixes starting from those with the highest priority in patches in the near future.

The option of starting a new game
We are looking at adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players that are already playing to restart the game. We will announce more details as soon as we can.

Paid DLC
All the items listed below can be obtained in-game or as paid DLC items.
Art of Metamorphosis – Character Editor
Ambivalent Rift Incense – Change Pawn Inclinations
Portcrystal – Warp Location Marker
Wakestone – Restore the dead to life!
500 Rift Crystals / 1500 Rift Crystals / 2500 Rift Crystals – Points to Spend Beyond the Rift
Makeshift Gaol Key – Escape from gaol!
Harpysnare Smoke Beacons – Harpy Lure Item

Regarding Frame Rate
A large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and calculating the impact of their physical presence in various areas. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate. We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future.

Capcom apologizes for the inconvenience these issues have caused. Based on the wording, expect a patch to drop soon-ish.

As for starting a new game on PC, it can be done, and we have a guide to do just that here.

While there are issues with the game, it’s not enough to detract from the overall experience, as our review talks about it glowingly and mentions, “Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an instant classic, the ultimate RPG adventure that fans have been dreaming about, making that long wait well worth it.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC or Baldur’s Gate 4 Not Happening; Larian Moving on From D&D

After the massive success of Baldur’s Gate 3, one might assume that a sequel would be in development as we speak. Well, people probably assumed wrong, as not only are we NOT getting any Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC, but don’t expect a direct sequel (Baldur’s Gate 4) to be released by Larian Studios.

At a Game Developers Conference (GDC) panel, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke mentioned that the studio has no plan s to release any expansions or DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3, or to even make a sequel for it. Not only that, but Vincke also mentioned that they are moving away from the D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) media property entirely to do something new.

This is quite surprising given how successful Baldur’s Gate 3 has become for Larian. If you’re one of the many that assumed Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC was on the way, well, this just dashed your hopes.

While no post-release story DLC is incoming, Larian Studios has been very busy releasing patch after patch for the hit RPG. This is not only to fix bugs, but to even add in new features, and in some cases, to add a better closure to the game’s final act.

No word yet on just what Larian Studios’ next project is, but don’t be surprised if it’s another entry in their Divinity series of RPGs.

As for the Baldur’s Gate franchise, it’s entirely in Wizards of the Coast’s hands right now. It’s unknown whether Hasbro (parent company of Wizards of the Coast) will look for another developer to takeover for Baldur’s Gate 4. If so, they have very, very big shoes to fill.

If you still haven’t played it yet, go read our review to understand why it has gotten so many accolades. Our reviewer was so in awe playing it and mentioned, “you can only purchase a single game for a couple of years because budget is tight, Baldur’s Gate 3 should be the one. The amount of content and the sheer quality in display almost makes it feel like a steal, a game that grows on you and eats the hours away, invading your dreams and making you count the time until you return to it.”

Dragon’s Dogma 2 – How to Delete Your Game Save and Back It Up to Start a New Game

Despite what many are saying online, you can, in fact, delete your Dragon’s Dogma 2 game save, back it up, and restore it whenever you like, though it’s a bit of a hassle. So we’ll walk you through the process, showing exactly how you can delete and back up your save in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

With Dragon’s Dogma 2 now officially released, many are noticing that the game only supports one save file, with no means of deleting it from in-game. Sadly, there really isn’t an option to do that from within the game, but every platform does have a method to back up the save file, while also allowing you to start a new game whenever. Here’s how.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 How to Delete Your Game Save and Back It Up (PC):

First and foremost, Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not store your saved data online in any capacity on any platform. Whatever other players have said, this simply isn’t true. However, if you are playing on Steam and you have tried to delete your save, only to come back and see it still there, then chances are you have cloud backup enabled, and Steam is forcing that save to load every time.

So you are going to want to turn that off ASAP, which Steam has detailed for individual games and for all games.

Individual games:
  • From the Steam Library, right-click on any game and select
    Properties…
  • Under the General tab, the Cloud Synchronization setting can be toggled.
All games:
  • From the Steam client Settings window, navigate to the
    Cloud tab.
  • Cloud can be enabled or disabled using the toggle next to
Enable Steam Cloud Sync for applications that support it

Once this is done, you can move on to manually backing up and deleting your saved data. To do this, navigate to the following directory on your computer.

  • YOUR DRIVE WHERE STEAM IS INSTALLED\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YOUR USER ID\2054970\remote\win64_save

You’ll see a set of files in this folder. Back these up by copying and pasting them anywhere on your PC. I would put them inside a dedicated folder and name that folder to whatever you want, such as a certain character build. That way, you know exactly what the file is.

Now, you can delete the files from the Steam directory above, boot into Dragon’s Dogma, and start a fresh save. If you want to restore your old save, copy the save files you backed up into that directory while deleting the others.

It’s a bit of a hassle, I know, but for those spreading the information that you can’t back up or delete it, this is completely untrue. It just takes a little bit of work.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 How to Delete Your Game Save and Back It Up (Consoles):

For console players, you’ll be slightly restrictive in what you can do with your game save. Xbox will automatically back up your game save, while PlayStation requires PlayStation Plus. You can manually upload the save on the PS5, or let the auto upload kick in. The downside here is that you can’t have multiple saves backed up. So, if you replace your new save with the one stored online, you lose that save forever. If you back up your stored save with a new one, you will also lose that old one forever. PC players are unaffected by that, as they can make as many backups as they want.

As for deleting Dragon’s Dogma 2 saved data, here’s how for each platform.

Xbox Series X|S

  1. On Home, select My games & apps.
  2. Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, then select Manage game & add-ons.
  3. Select the Saved data box, then choose the item you want to delete.

PS5

  1. Go to settings
  2. Go to Saved Data and Game/App Settings
  3. Select Saved Data (PS5) and the Upload or Delete from Console Storage.
  4. Navigate to Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you have PS Plus you can upload it, otherwise select the delete option if you want to start a new game.

Again, Capcom does not store your saved data on their servers. I have been using this method flawlessly for the last two weeks during my review of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and I even tested it during the official launch and had no problems backing up the save, deleting it, starting a new game, and then restoring the old one. We’ve had other staff members test this themselves, too. You can delete your saved data on any platform, though only a PC allows you to easily back up as much as you want.

I do agree, and it was noted in our review that the save system should be better than this and even allow more than one saved data. Hopefully, Capcom will listen to that feedback and put a better system in place because it’s not a good one.
