Modern Warfare 3: What Carries Over From MW2 Explained

Just a few weeks ago, Activision confirmed that a lot of the items in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will carry over to Modern Warfare 3 when it ships later this year. If you have questions about that, Activision has answers! Here’s an explanation of what carries over from MW2 to MW3.

Activision is calling this transition as “Carry Forward” and has published a full FAQ about it, which you can read about below.

Modern Warfare 3 Carryover Items From Modern Warfare 2 Explained:

What is “Carry Forward”?

The term “Carry Forward” simply refers to content currently available to players in Modern Warfare II and the current version of Call of Duty: Warzone (such as weapons and cosmetic content, including Bundles, Operators, and other rewards and unlocks from the game), and how much of it will be accessible in Modern Warfare III.

What will carry forward from MW2 to MW3?

Content previously described — weapons and cosmetic content, examples of which are shown in the above image — that has been previously unlocked or is currently available to players in MWII, will carry forward between MWII and MWIII.

Now for the caveats:

  • A small amount of content may be unavailable if gameplay offerings are different in Modern Warfare III. For example, if MWIII doesn’t have the Tactical Amphibious Vehicle, or a specific piece of Tactical or Lethal Equipment in any game modes, any Skins you’ve unlocked for these items in MWII won’t be in MWIII. In addition, Wartracks (music) will not carry forward from MWII to MWIII.
  • This blog does not reference the impressive amount of planned MWIII-specific weapons and cosmetic content; this is simply explaining the MWII content available in MWIII.
  • There will be no “Carry Back” (from MWIII to MWII).

Modern Warfare 3 Carry Forward FAQ

Warzone-Related Questions

1. Does Carry Forward also apply to Call of Duty: Warzone (MWII)?

Yes.

You should expect Modern Warfare III content to be integrated into Call of Duty: Warzone at the start of Modern Warfare III Season 01, including all the Modern Warfare II content specified in this blog, where applicable. Content is additive, so none of the previously described MWII Carry Forward content acquired in Call of Duty: Warzone will be taken away.

2. Is Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III Content accessible in Call of Duty Warzone Mobile?

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will include shared progression across Modern Warfare II, the current iteration of Call of Duty: Warzone, and Modern Warfare III as one of its key features. We intend to make all Operators, Weapons, Blueprints, and cosmetic equipment accessible, as well as integrating Player Level, Battle Pass access, and Weapon progression among these games. We’ll have more details to share on this as we near the worldwide launch of Warzone Mobile.

Operator-Related Questions

3. How does Carry Forward work regarding any Operators I may have acquired?

For Modern Warfare II players, all unlocked Operators and Operator Skins will carry forward into Modern Warfare III. This essentially means that every Operator a MWII player has unlocked, obtained via challenge, or purchased (including the PlayStation® Exclusive Oni Operator), will be available in MWIII.

For MWIII players who do not own MWII, MWII Base Operators will not be available.

Note: “Base Operator” means the Operator with their default Skin, which may require a challenge to unlock.

Note: Unless otherwise specified, “Modern Warfare II” content also applies to content you’ve obtained during the second iteration of Call of Duty: Warzone that launched with Season 01 of Modern Warfare II.

Example: The Operator Nova (shown above in Base Skin) can be unlocked only after completing the Modern Warfare II“Violence and Timing” Campaign mission.

  • A MWII player will not be able to access this Base Operator until the unlock prerequisite is completed. Then the Operator is unlocked for both games.
  • A MWIII-only player will not be able to access this Base Operator.
  • A Store Bundle released in MWII that includes Nova would be accessible in both games. Players would have access to only that specific Bundle Skin, not the Base (default) Skin. This is currently the case in MWII, so no changes are planned there.
  • A Store Bundle released in MWIII that includes Nova would be accessible only in MWIII.

4. What happens to MWII Operators who are no longer available as a Store Bundle or who are obtained due to a timed exclusive window (e.g., a Season Operator)?

For Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III players, timed-exclusive MWII Operators and/or Skins are not available if they haven’t been unlocked or purchased. This mainly relates to Battle Pass Operators and Skins, as well as BlackCell Operators and Skins.

Example 1: The Operator Valeria (shown above) was included in the Season 03 Battle Pass. If players didn’t obtain her then, they will be unable to obtain her Base Skin now.

  • However, if a future Store Bundle is released in MWII that includes Valeria, it would be accessible in both games. Players would only have access to that specific Bundle Skin, not the limited-time (default) Base Skin that was a timed exclusive in the Season 03 Battle Pass.
  • If a future Store Bundle is released in MWIII that includes Valeria, it would be accessible in MWIII only.

Example 2: The Operator Io (shown above) was included in the Season 04 BlackCell offering. If players didn’t obtain her then, they will be unable to obtain her Base Skin now.

5. Does all cosmetic Operator Skin content carry forward?

Yes.

Store Bundle Skins for all MWII Operators will carry forward.

Example: When available, the Inkblot Nova Bundle (already available in MWII) can be purchased by either a MWII player or a MWIII player (in their respective Stores), and the “Enigma” Nova Skin (shown above) can be obtained.

However, as detailed in Question 3, players will only have access to this specific Skin and not Nova’s Base (default) Skin by purchasing the Bundle.

Bundle content created for MWIII will only be available for MWIII. See Question 17 (below) to view how current content is confirmed to be available in both games, in the current MWII Store.

6. What happens to Operators who exist in both MWII and MWIII? For example, assuming Captain Price appears in both games, are “MWII Price” and “MWIII Price” two separate Operators?

No.

If Captain Price appears in both games, he is regarded as the same character and is selected in the same Operator menu screen, with any MWII and MWIII Skins and other content available in this selection menu.

Weapons and Gunsmith-Related Questions

7. Do all weapons in Modern Warfare II and their Blueprints carry forward to Modern Warfare III?

Yes.

All Modern Warfare II weapons will be available for Modern Warfare III players, although each weapon’s associated unlock challenge must be completed before it becomes accessible in MWIII. Any Blueprints also carry forward, and certain MWII Blueprints available via Store Bundles will also be available to purchase in MWIII.

Some Base MWII weapons were available for a limited time during MWII’s Seasons of content, and are initially inaccessible to MWIII owners, unless the specific Weapon Unlock Challenge for that weapon has been completed.

To reiterate: If you haven’t played MWII and pick up MWIII, the full complement of MWII weapons will be available, but only after the associated weapon challenges in MWIII are completed.

Therefore, Modern Warfare III players should expect the following Base weaponry accessible in the Gunsmith, at launch:

  • An extensive and impressive number of Modern Warfare III–specific Base weapons (not revealed yet).
  • The Base weapons available at the launch of Modern Warfare II at the level you progressed them to in MWII. If you do not own MWII, the same MWII Base weapons will be available in MWIII, ready to be unlocked via a challenge, and leveled up.
  • Any Base weapons unlocked during a MWII Season, Event, or other unlock challenge (e.g., the Tonfa Base Melee weapon, available only as part of the Vondel Event in Season 04).

Example 1: The Base M13B Assault Rifle (above) is available to obtain only during DMZ, after defeating the Chemist boss character (or defeating another player carrying the Base M13B) and exfilling with the weapon. If obtained in this manner, the Base M13B becomes available to use (and level up) in MWII and MWIII.

Example 2: The Blueprint M13B Assault Rifle “Naughty” (above) is available to obtain only via the Store Bundle “Tracer Pack: Klaus Operator.” If purchased in MWII, the Blueprint (but not the Base) M13B becomes available to use (and level up) in MWII and MWIII.

8. Do all attachments in Modern Warfare II also carry forward? Can I use MWII attachments on Modern Warfare III weapons?

Yes.

All Modern Warfare II attachments will be available in Modern Warfare III and can also be used on MWIII weapons, assuming they are attachable to the weapon in question.

9. Will Modern Warfare II Weapon Camos, including Mastery Camos and those awarded for completing Events, be carried forward?

Yes.

All Weapon Camos will carry forward into Modern Warfare III. Limited-time Event Camos that were available only during a certain period are accessible if you unlocked them in Modern Warfare II at that time.

Example 1: A MWII player has an M4 with “Orion” Mastery Camo unlocked (above). They can equip the weapon, and the Camo, and any other unlocked Camos in MWIII. Note you can’t equip the “Orion” Camo to a MWIII weapon (see Question 10).

Example 2: A MWII player has the universal Camo “Dark Bones” (above) that was earned during the MWII Season 03 Reloaded Camo Event. They can equip this Camo to any MWII weapon, providing they unlocked it during the time of the Event. Note that “universal Camo” now means “universal to MWII weapons” (see Question 10).

10. Can a player use a Modern Warfare II Camo on a Modern Warfare III weapon? Can a player use a MWIII Camo on a MWII weapon? What about “completionist” Camos?

No.

Modern Warfare II Camos cannot be equipped on Modern Warfare III weapons, and vice versa. However, you can equip a previously locked MWII Camo onto a MWII weapon in MWIII if you fulfill the unlock criteria in MWIII.

Note: MWIII is set to include its own expansive set of Camos, including completionist Camos (separate from the MWII Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion, above). These MWIII Camos cannot be earned for MWII weapons.

11. Can a player level up a Modern Warfare II weapon in both games?

Yes.

Weapon progression will continuously update between games.

Example 1: Leveling up the M4 (shown above) in Modern Warfare III will also level up the weapon in Modern Warfare II (and vice versa). This includes unlocking all the weapon attachments (if applicable) as well as Camos and mastery Camos.

  • Note that Rank and Prestige XP would be awarded in the game in which you are leveling up your weapon (either MWII or MWIII, but not both).

Example 2: If a MWII player has a set of weapons still requiring Weapon XP (WXP) to level up (to unlock attachments and/or Camos), this can be done in either MWII or MWIII. However, regular Player Rank and Prestige XP (unrelated to WXP) would be awarded to the specific game in question.

12. If a Tactical or Lethal Weapon has a Skin (like the “Wumpa Grenade” from “Tracer Pack: Crash Bandicoot”), do they carry forward?

Yes, provided the tactical or lethal is accessible and available for use in MWIII.

13. Is there a reason to purchase Modern Warfare II if all the weapons are available in Modern Warfare III?

Yes.

You would be able to have some or all of your Modern Warfare II weaponry arsenal fully leveled up and unlocked, along with their associated Camos, ready for Modern Warfare III launch, providing you put in the appropriate time to unlock and level up this content in MWII, prior to – or even after – playing MWIII.

Cosmetics-Related Questions

14. Do Weapon Charms (including Weapon Mastery Charms), Weapon Stickers (including Decals), Emblems, and Loading Screens all carry forward?

Yes.

15. What about Vehicle Skins, Wartracks, and Calling Cards?

Generally, yes.

Caveat: Some MWII vehicles, and Wartracks will not be available to use in Modern Warfare III.

Note: Challenges within MWII (e.g., Seasonal Prestige Challenges allowing Calling Cards to be unlocked) can be unlocked only in MWII, but unlocked Calling Cards (including those you go back and unlock in MWII) will carry forward.

16. Are there any Modern Warfare II cosmetics that won’t be supported in Modern Warfare III?

Generally, no, aside from the following caveats:

Some vehicle Skins may not be available (see Question 15).

Wartracks will not carry forward.

Some Tactical and Lethal equipment may not be available depending on the removing of those items in MWIII, to be replaced with MWIII-only equipment.

Exact Tactical and Lethal equipment within MWIII will be revealed at a later date.

Otherwise, all this Modern Warfare II cosmetics will be usable in Modern Warfare III. However, as with Operators and Weapons, any cosmetic item with a limited time unlock won’t be available unless it was unlocked in MWII at the appropriate time.

Other Questions

17. How do I know whether a Modern Warfare II Store Bundle features content that can be used in Modern Warfare III?

Due to the labelling denoting that the content is usable in both games. This labelling is scheduled to be visible in the MWII store starting on August 16.

Example: A MWII player decides to purchase the Call of Duty League Midseason Pack. When inspecting the items within the Bundle, there is a label below the item carousel (as shown above) confirming that all the items will also be usable in Modern Warfare III.

18. In general, what happens if I purchase Modern Warfare III first, and then purchase Modern Warfare II? Will the MWII content still be shared?

Generally, yes.

If you own both games, you’ll have both sets of content, no matter when you purchase. Weapon progression will continuously update between games (see Question 11), and if an Operator is unlocked in Modern Warfare II (via a Campaign, Multiplayer, or a Special Ops Challenge), that (Base) Operator will then become available to use in Modern Warfare III as well.

19. Does all Carry Forward content work in a “Carry Back” capacity? For example, can I use unlocked Modern Warfare III content in Modern Warfare II?

No.

There is no “carry back” from Modern Warfare III to Modern Warfare II. No MWIII content will be playable in MWII.

Don’t forget, the official reveal of Modern Warfare 3 is happening this August 17. Go check the Makarov reveal trailer released today to see the villain introduced again.

Lies of P Has Gone Gold Ahead of September 19 Release

Neowiz is making quite some waves with the approaching launch of Lies of P, the Souls-like that grabs the eternal story of Pinocchio and gives it a dark, grim twist. This is definitely not the same puppet that Geppetto made and we all know and love, and it is coming to take on countless monsters by means of swords and special abilities. Lies of P has gone gold, which means that it is on its final stretch before launch day, slated to September 19.

The announcement was made over Twitter, and this finally puts the minds of many players at ease since June, when the Lies of P demo was downloaded over a million times in three days.

Even if Lies of P is yet to be released, this hasn’t stopped developer Neowiz from showing the confidence it has in the game. A Lies of P and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty collaboration was already announced, and it should benefit both games, but no details on this “mutual collaboration” were released so far.

In case you’re truly inclined to get Lies of P in a more substantial version, you should check the Digital Deluxe Edition contents right now. This apparent mix of Bloodborne and Dark Souls is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Modern Warfare 3 Makarov Reveal Trailer Reintroduces the Baddie, Reveal Set for Aug. 17

Activision has released the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 “Makarov” reveal trailer, and this one features actual actors. For those unfamiliar, Vladimir Makarov was introduced in the original Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, and is considered the primary villain of the game’s story.

Check out the trailer to see Makarov in real life complete with tattoos and all.

Here’s a brief background of Vladimir Makarov (via Call of Duty fandom):

Vladimir Makarov (Russian: Владимир Макаров, and also referenced as Vladimir R. Makarov in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Vladimir A. Makarov in Modern Warfare 3) is the main antagonist of the Modern Warfare franchise known for his ruthless tactics. He’s the leader of an Ultranationalist terrorist cell and Imran Zakhaev’s protégé.[3] Makarov was the unseen overarching antagonist in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the secondary antagonist of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the main antagonist of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. As well, he appeared as a customization option in Call of Duty: Ghosts. He was the grand mastermind behind World War 3 and the cause of the entire series’ events, always pulling the strings from behind the lines as the puppet master.

Of course, with the remakes, we’re uncertain whether Sledgehammer Games will be changing anything in the game’s campaign story. We’ll know for sure what happens when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 fires out this November 10.

As for what’s new, Activision has confirmed that the MW3 worldwide reveal is set for Aug. 17, which is the same date we reported on last week.

PS5 Sales Exceed 41.7 Million Units

It’s been a couple of weeks since we know that the PS5 has exceeded 40 million in unit sales, but we did not have an exact figure. However, thanks to the recent Sony financial earnings call, we have a specific figure to quote. As of June 30, 2023, Sony’s PS5 sales have surpassed 41.7 million units.

In the last three months (ending June 30), Sony has sold a total of 3.3 million PS5s, which is up 0.9 million from the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Here are some other important key PlayStation figures revealed by Sony in its financial result:

  • As of June 30, there are 108 million active monthly users on the PlayStation Network, this is up 5 million from the same period of the previous fiscal year.
  • PS5 and PS4 software sold a combined 56.5 million units during the same three-month timeframe, which is up 9.3 million from the software sold during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
  • PS5 and PS4 software sold a combined 6.6 million PlayStation first-party titles, which is roughly the same amount of first-party software sold during the same period of the previous year.
  • 72% of the combined software sales were digital, down 7% from last year.

Last week, Nintendo also published their financial results in which they revealed that the Nintendo Switch is nearing 130 million units in sales.

With Spider-Man 2 just around the corner and the PS5 promotional campaign, it seems like Sony will sell a ton of PS5 in the upcoming financial quarter.

  • [Maegu, Woosa] To ensure smooth progress through the Awakening questlines, a temporary measure has been put in place to prevent the accidental disposal of the Canon Foxtail Fans and the Canon Soul Tome.
    • Adventurers who have previously discarded these items will find them restored and placed in their first inventory slot.
  • During the “”Energy and Energy”” Tale of Imoogi vignette quest, if you move to the directed location while riding a mount, the quest may not proceed smoothly.

As a temporary measure, the quest will be immediately completed upon accepting it.
    • We would like to inform you that if you start your adventure in the Morning Light or engage in battles with Sangoon in the Black Shrine, the battle with Sangoon will proceed normally.

Current Known Issues

  • Some world boss notifications displayed on the bottom right of the screen have times different from their actual spawn times.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Update 1.14 for Version 1.130 Slashes Out This Aug. 9

Team Ninja has released Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty update 1.14 (PS5 version 1.014), and this is for “Crouching Dragons’ Fierce Rumble.” Team Ninja has tagged this as patch 1.30, and players can also expect balance adjustments and feature improvements as part of the title update. Read on for the Wo Long new update patch notes for August 9.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Update 1.14 Patch Notes | Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Update 1.014 Patch Notes | Wo Long Update 1.130 Patch Notes:

All Platforms

Additional Features
  • Added the new sub battlefield “Crouching Dragons’ Fierce Rumble.”
    • This is an end-game mission in which the player fights multiple bosses in a series of battles.
    • It will become accessible via Other in the Travel menu after clearing the sub battlefield “Crouching Dragons’ Battle Royale.”
    • In this battlefield, Morale Points lost upon death cannot be redeemed when rechallenging the enemy.
    • This battlefield will not affect the conditions for acquiring the trophies/achievements “Battle-Hardened” and “Hunting the Great Deer,” the ratio of Battlefields Conquered, or any titles related to conquering battlefields.
  • Added a Training Ground function in the Hidden Village of Mt. Tianzhushan.
    • This is an area in which players can freely engage in battle with certain enemies and test their skills.
    • After applying the update, players can access the Training Ground by speaking with the Taoist located on the right upon first entering the hidden village.

  • Added a function so that if any tampering with values for equipment special effects is detected, the game will forcibly change such values to legitimate ranges.
Adjustments
  • Made upward adjustments to the probability of items with the highest rarity appearing in each difficulty level.
  • Made upward adjustments (dependent upon the difficulty level) to the range of rarities of equipment in the lottery, such as items dropped after enemies are defeated and items and treasure chests located on each battlefield.
    • For example, upon defeating bosses and leaders on the “Path of the Soaring Dragon,” dropped items are guaranteed to have a rarity of at least 4★.
  • Made changes so that upon playing a battlefield for the second time and onward, equipment received as a clear reward will be a random item rather than a fixed item.
    • The equipment will be selected via lottery from certain categories and ranges of rarities specifically set for each battlefield.

  • Made adjustments so that item drop tables for players who join Recruit sessions will be equivalent to those in the highest difficulty level reached by the player, regardless of the difficulty of the battlefield they are recruited to.
    • For example, if a player who has reached the difficulty level “Path of the Soaring Dragon” accepts recruitment for “Path of the Crouching Dragon,” enemies will drop 6★ equipment for that player.
  • Made upward adjustments to the effectiveness of Talent’s Blessing (which grants bonuses to the drop rate) during Recruit sessions.
  • Made upward adjustments to the amount of accolades that can be acquired upon accepting recruitment under either of the following situations:
    • If players who have reached the “Path of the Rising Dragon” conquer battlefields on the “Path of the Crouching Dragon.”
    • If players who have reached the “Path of the Soaring Dragon” conquer battlefields on the “Path of the Crouching Dragon” or “Path of the Rising Dragon.”
  • Made upward adjustments to the amount of accolades that can be acquired upon accepting recruitment and conquering battlefields with a recommended level of 101 or higher.
  • Made adjustments so that players will be invincible until their attack sequence ends when performing Fatal Strikes.
  • Made changes so that the game will pause when players acquire Hidden Tomes.
  • Made changes so that the battlefields “Crouching Dragons’ Battle Royale” and “Crouching Dragons’ Fierce Rumble” will now be categorized as Optional Battlefields in the Travel menu.
  • Made changes to the default values of the following fields in settings:
    • Switch Locked-on Target after Deflecting within the game settings
    • Switch Locked-on Target after Deflecting a Critical Blow within the game settings
    • Horizontal Rotation Speed for the Lock-on Camera in the Camera settings
    • Vertical Rotation Speed for the Lock-on Camera in the Camera settings
    • These values will not be changed for system data that has already been saved.
Major Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug in which performing a follow-up attack after deflecting an enemy’s Critical Blow and disrupting their Spirit would immediately end the enemy’s Spirit Disruption.
  • Fixed a bug in which depleting an enemy’s Spirit to the lower limits under certain conditions would immediately end the enemy’s Spirit Disruption.
  • Fixed a bug in which depleting Zhuyan’s Spirit to the lower limits with certain attacks would immediately end the demon’s Spirit Disruption.
  • Fixed a bug in which depleting Fengxi’s Spirit to the lower limits just as the demon’s hardened parts were destroyed would immediately end the demon’s Spirit Disruption.
  • Fixed a bug in which depleting the boss Demonized Liu Bei’s Spirit to the lower limits while he was downed from mid-air would immediately end his Spirit Disruption.
  • Fixed a bug that would allow the player to launch a one-sided attack against the boss Zhang Liao under certain conditions.
  • Fixed a bug in which players who had equipped the Divine Beast Yinglong and whose HP fell to 0 under certain conditions would lose half of their Genuine Qi upon revival.
  • Fixed a bug which caused incorrect parts of Bingcan to glow, a visual effect shown on enemies whose Morale Rank is significantly higher than the player’s.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the game to crash when repeatedly defeating Bronze Soldiers in the main battlefield “Decisive Battle of Guandu.”
  • Fixed a bug in which players would be hit with enemy attacks while interacting with Battle Flags in the sub battlefield “An Everlasting Regret.”
  • Fixed a bug in which having the warriors Dian Wei and Xu Chu (add-on content) as companions would allow players to obtain the trophy/achievement “Great Gatherings.”
  • Made revisions so that if players were somehow unable to acquire the trophies/achievements “The Sage Pauses when Guests Call” and “Pots and Potions” despite fulfilling the conditions, they will be acquired upon conquering any battlefield.
  • Fixed a bug in which the “!” icon for storehouse items would fail to disappear in certain situations.
  • Fixed a visual bug in which Premium Special Effects appeared to have an incorrect rank value on the Special Effect Details screen.
  • Fixed a bug in which Required Genuine Qi was not displayed in the Level Up menu in certain situations.
  • Fixed a bug that would occur when taking projectiles/throwing weapons out of the storehouse, in which the actual number of items taken out was incorrect if the special effect Ammo Held Max was in effect.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause some of the projectiles in the player’s possession to be lost when the Remove/Equip Gear display in Character Creation was toggled while the special effect Ammo Held Max was in effect.
  • Fixed a bug in which the special effect “Genuine Qi Obtention” would not function as intended upon defeating an enemy in certain situations.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes make it possible for players to receive gestures as accolade rewards more than once.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes prevent the player’s required accolades amount from increasing after they had received the accolade rewards Rank 9 Steel, Rank 9 Leather, Cold-Forged Steel, and Jiao Leather.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when participating in battlefields as a guest in Recruit sessions, in which the gauge above the head of players who received aid would sometimes be distorted.
  • Fixed a bug in which some enemies would sometimes be submerged in the ground during multiplayer sessions.
  • Fixed a bug in which subtitles would sometimes remain on the screen while the credits were rolling.
  • Fixed other minor bugs.

PlayStation®5/PlayStation®4 Versions

Major Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes prevent players from obtaining trophies even when accessing Battle Flags after data was retained via Manage Cross Save.

Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/Microsoft Store Versions

Additional Features
  • Made changes so that blocked players will no longer be displayed in the search results when matching on the same platform or across different platforms.

Steam®/Microsoft Store Versions

Major Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause lagging when playing the game on PCs equipped with 12th or 13th Generation Intel CPUs.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the game to crash upon startup in certain environments when the resolution scaling type was set to AMD FSR 2 with a screen resolution of 3840×2160 and HDR enabled.
  • Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the frame rate to drop considerably during the battle with Demonized Dian Wei when running the game at 120FPS.
  • Fixed other minor bugs.

Take-Two Expecting “Significant Inflection Point” and “Record Levels” of Performance in Fiscal 2025, Suggests GTA6 Will Be Released in Timeframe

It looks like Grand Theft Auto fans have something to look forward to if Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick’s recent statements are to be understood, as it implies (heavily) that GTA6 could be on its way out soon-ish.

Speaking about the publisher’s quarterly financials report, Zelnick states, “We remain confident that we are positioning our business for a significant inflection point in fiscal 2025, which we believe will include new record levels of operating performance.”

What could trigger “record levels” of operating performance? There’s no new Red Dead game announced, but GTA6 has been confirmed to be in development and would be the kind of game that would set record levels of, well, anything.

For those unaware, fiscal year 2025 runs from April 2024 to March 2025, which suggests GTA6 will be released during that timeframe. Of course, this is just speculation on our end, but it is an educated guess given the info (and statement) that we have.

Do you think we’ll see Grand Theft Auto 6 be released during that timeframe?

Overwatch 2: Invasion Hero Balancing and Player Progression Details Revealed

Game Director of Overwatch 2, Aaron Keller has provided some insight on how Overwatch 2: Invasion hero balancing and player progression will work once it launches on August 10. Nearly half of the heroes in Overwatch 2 will get balance changes with Invasion, and we have received details on some of the larger ones.

Keller notes that Blizzard learned a lesson with the Lifeweaver season where the new Overwatch 2 hero was interesting, but not strong enough, and says that the developers do not want to repeat that. To tackle this, Invasion will feature a new hero that is exciting and impactful on day one.

The hero will not be “overpowered” but will be balanced in a way where people play her because she brings value and not only because she’s new. Blizzard claims that they will be watching the feedback on the upcoming hero very closely, listening to player feedback, and will make early changes if required.

Other than that, the developers are making a change to the way they calculate damage against armor. Armor damage reduction is now additive with other sources of damage reduction, and respects the cap of 50%. It used to be multiplicative with damage reduction from abilities, creating situations where certain heroes were much more difficult to damage than intended since they were bypassing the damage reduction cap. This shouldn’t be a big change and will mostly affect Ramattra and Orisa.

Now, on to the balance, one of the themes for balance changes in Overwatch 2: Invasion is reacting to some of the game’s recent tweaks. These include:

Cassidy:

  • Cassidy’s Magnetic Grenade’s maximum range will shorten quite a bit with a 1.5-second max travel time.
  • Cassidy will also get a health buff and some changes to his damage falloff.

Torbjorn:

  • His primary fire will be getting a faster fire rate.
  • Speeding up his weapon swap so that he’s more effective at keeping his turret up.

Soldier 76:

  • Reducing the damage on his Helix Rocket and slightly increasing the cost of his Ult.

Orisa:

  • Her Fortify ability will now grant 125 bonus health
  • The start of her damage falloff will be slightly extended.

Lifeweaver:

  • Giving his Ult more impact.
  • Giving himself more survivability.
  • Part of Tree of Life’s healing will now be converted into Overhealth, up to a maximum of 100 health per player.
  • Added survivability by converting some of his health to shields and upping the amount of healing done by Rejuvenating Dash.

Kiriko:

  • Protection Suzu will now heal slightly less, but when it cleanses a negative effect, it will do an additional burst of healing.
  • The slight knockback on Suzu is also being removed.

Mercy:

  • Reduction in damage boost, from 30% to 25%.

There are a few other notable mentions. Sombra has a few small changes coming next season, but in Season 7, she’ll debut her larger rework – complete with a new ability! Ramattra and Doomfist’s blocks will now reduce stuck damage and we’re making changes to Bastion’s kit to help him feel more fluid and increase the potential for his Tactical Grenade.

In addition, Overwatch 2’s community manager, Craig, had this to say about the Overwatch 2: Invasion player progression update:

Right now, there are lifetime challenges for each of the heroes, and completing those challenges unlocks player icons. These lifetime challenges and player icons will be integrated into the new player progression system when Overwatch 2: Invasion launches, but any current progress on these lifetime challenges will not transfer over into the new player progression system.

You will keep any previously earned rewards from completing the lifetime challenges moving into the new system. You can still complete the hero lifetime challenges until the end of season five.

You will keep any previously earned rewards from completing the lifetime challenges moving into the new system. You can still complete the hero lifetime challenges until the end of season five.

More details about the upcoming balancing changes in Overwatch 2: Invasion will be revealed once the patch notes go live. Stay tuned to MP1st as we will be posting the patch notes once they are available.

EA Shutting Down Servers for Crysis 3, Dead Space 2, Dante’s Inferno, FIFA 21 Later This Year

If you’re somehow still playing Crysis 3 multiplayer on your PS3 or Xbox 360, that’s about to change soon, as EA has added that game and more which will  have its servers shutdown later this year.

The games below are part of the EA-published titles which will have its online component non-functional before 2023 is done. Just this March, EA announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 1, BC2, Battlefield 1943 are all having its servers shutdown.

Here are the newly added games in EA’s list (sorted alphabetically) which will have their servers shutdown within the year.

  • Crysis 3 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One (backwards compatibility), Steam and EA App (September 7, 2023)
  • Dead Space 2 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (December 8, 2023)
  • Dante’s Inferno on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360 (December 8, 2023)
  • FIFA 18 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (November 6, 2023)
  • FIFA 19 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (November 6, 2023)
  • FIFA 20 for Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (November 6, 2023)
  • FIFA 21 for Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5

Possibly the most worrying here is FIFA 21, as it’s relatively new, though one can argue that sports games lose almost all their online players once a new iteration is out. Plus, EA is pushing out its FIFA replacement in EA Sports FC 24, so there’s that as well.

Mind, given that online games require servers (which, in turn, cost money) for companies to run, it’s just a matter of time when servers are shutdown.

While there’s no Crysis 3 multiplayer available in the remaster, there is a new Crysis game in development, which you can read about here. As for Dead Space 2, there’s been no announcement of a remake for it yet, but given how successful the first Dead Space remake has been, we’d be very surprised if a DS2 remake isn’t already in development (especially since EA seems to be surveying gamers about their interest in remakes).

Thanks, Pure Xbox!
