MultiVersus Open Beta Shutting Down June 25, Full Launch Set for 2024; Offline Play to Remain Available

Free-to-play platform fighting game MultiVersus’ open beta is shutting down on June 25 this year, with it set to return for a full launch in early 2024. The game will feature new content, modes, and other features when it relaunches next year.

A recent tweet by the official MultiVersus Twitter account shared an announcement video on the open beta closure.

Interestingly enough, players who have downloaded the game before the open beta shuts down will have access to its offline features, including the training mode (otherwise known as The Lab) and local play. This will allow players to either practice their favorite characters while waiting for launch or enjoy the game with friends locally. It is worth mentioning, however, that MultiVersus will only be available for download until April 4, not on June 25 when the servers actually shut down, so you’ll only have around a week to save a copy of the game onto your device.

Despite receiving quite a bit of buzz when it was first announced, MultiVersus has dropped in both concurrent player count and viewership on livestreaming services such as Twitch. SteamDB lists a peak concurrent player count of over 153,000 following the game’s Steam release, yet less than a thousand players as of two weeks ago.

If you’re looking to play MultiVersus while the servers are down, you’re going to want to download a copy on your preferred device. Click here if you want to read the official FAQ regarding MultiVersus’ open beta shutdown and eventual launch.

Diablo 4 Beta Hands-On Impressions – A Return to Sanctuary

With the Diablo 4 beta already in its second and final week, many players have gotten the chance to witness the horrors of Sanctuary once more, this time in a quest to take down the Mother of Sanctuary herself, Lilith. Despite only having access to Act 1 and various other limitations (such as the level cap being 25), you get to do a lot in the beta, especially considering the fact that it’s only set to run for two weekends.

But was Diablo 4 just as good as players made it out to be, or did it fail to meet the ever-growing expectations of Diablo, ARPG, and Blizzard fans alike? Here’s our beta preview for Diablo 4 and our first impressions after giving the game an honest go at it.

Back to the Grind

Like many other ARPGs, Diablo 4’s gameplay revolves around a core loop: take down enemies, loot gear, improve your loadout, and repeat. It’s a simple, yet addicting system, rewarding players with gear that either improves their current build or entices them to try out a new one. In truth, it’s difficult to comment on Diablo 4’s gameplay at the moment, given the fact that games such as Diablo 4 are more heavily reliant on their endgame activities than anything else. Sure, the leveling process is important, but with players just barely able to unlock their Ultimate Skills at level 25, you really can’t get a feel for what a finalized, optimized build plays like until the full game releases this June.

As such, let’s talk more about combat encounter design in Diablo 4, particularly when it comes to boss fights. I played both Barbarian and Druid during the beta weekends, mostly on Barbarian, and the simple truth is that unless you managed to nab an insanely good Legendary that can serve as the core of your build, some of the bosses can be pretty difficult to beat on melee classes. There are bosses that can move around quickly throughout the arena, shove players away from them and deal massive damage, or simply prevent you from getting on top of them with DoT puddles. This results in a somewhat frustrating experience for players who are so used to just hacking away at enemies non-stop.

When playing through the main quests, I did have to respec my character twice in order to take down a couple of the bosses. I ran a Whirlwind build for my Barbarian, which is great when doing dungeons, but not so much against individual bosses. Thankfully, it was very affordable to respec during the beta, so I didn’t mind it that much, but it felt a bit disappointing nonetheless. I find it difficult to recommend playing through the story for the first time with a melee class or build unless you really want to because of this.

In terms of class design, I’d say that Blizzard did a pretty solid job at defining various playstyles for each class. For Barbarian, you could go for a Berserking build, a Whirlwind-focused build, or a Bleeding build, to name a few. And you aren’t pigeonholed into sticking with the obvious playstyles, either, giving you a bit of flexibility with your loadout. Some builds will do certain things better than others, with some better at dungeon clearing and others better at boss DPS, but that’s just how the cookie crumbles with ARPGs.

A Darker, More Detailed Sanctuary

Diablo 4 takes the visual quality of the Diablo series to the next level with impressive character models and textures. Its in-game cutscenes are realistic and allow your characters to be part of them, which really adds to Diablo 4’s overall immersion. It can be a bit jarring to see your character from different angles after being so used to the isometric view during gameplay, but when equipping transmog, swapping gear, or inspecting other players, the character models really show off their improvements over Diablo 3.

While Early Access and Open Beta only allowed players to access the Fractured Peaks region, there was quite a bit of variety among the zones that you could explore. Snow-filled mountains, damp caves, and stony cliffs litter the area, and even with lower graphic settings, they look stunning. The dungeons are also just as detailed, with churches, basements, mines, and much more, making even the most tiresome of grinds a visual treat at the very least.

And then there are the demons. Diablo 4’s enemies range from the goat-like khazra and undead revenants to the more classic succubi and Pit Lords. With so many of them appearing on your screen at once, it can be easy to miss the details found in these models. Bosses, on the other hand, are much more in-your-face, as they unleash attacks and spells that look just as powerful and imposing as they do. Of course, the bosses during beta were only up to level 30, so one can only imagine what awaits players in endgame.

An “Open”-World ARPG Experience

Diablo 4 has done away with the usual zone-based maps that we’re used to in other ARPG titles. Instead of leaving one area and entering another with a loading screen as a transition, moving around the Fractured Peaks is seamless—or at least, that’s what it’s supposed to look like from the surface. In truth, players are still leaving one zone and entering the next one, but by using some clever coding, your character will seamlessly move like both areas are connected.

That is, of course, if the system works as intended. During both Early Access and Open Beta weekends, I often found my character rubberbanding during transitions, and when my connection to the servers wasn’t great, it would take seconds before I could actually move into the next zone. This is something that Blizzard will hopefully address come launch.

A Rough Start

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that during the beta, players ran into a multitude of bugs and issues that made playing through the beta weekends a bit of a challenge. Aside from the long login queue times, with wait times usually reaching an hour or more during peak hours, players were plagued with various connection issues, ranging from fluctuating ping, to rubberbanding as mentioned earlier, to sudden disconnections while playing. In the worst of cases, you’d disconnect entirely and have to log in again, forcing you to sit in the queue for another hour or so. Performance issues are also common across lower-end PCs despite the somewhat mild PC requirements, given modern video game standards.

To their credit, Blizzard is aware of the issues and posted a list of known issues during the Early Access beta. While some of these issues are still present in the game, there are still a few months before the game fully comes out. By then, Blizzard will have (hopefully) ironed out the kinks.

Final Thoughts

Diablo 4’s an ARPG, so it’s not a game that everyone can pick up right away and enjoy. But for those who enjoy grinding hours of content and improving your character’s gear as much as possible, Diablo 4 seems to be a solid entry in the Diablo series, as long as Blizzard is able to address the various issues that plague the beta at the moment.

MP1st was given access to Diablo 4’s Early Access and Open Beta weekends. Diablo 4 is set to launch on June 6, 2023 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Report: Resident Evil 4 DLC Featuring Ada Wong Unearthed in Datamine

While the Resident Evil 4 remake has received high praise from players and publishers alike, there were some features in the original game that didn’t make the cut, such as the Separate Ways mode featuring Ada Wong that you unlocked after completing the main story. A Resident Evil 4 remake DLC featuring Ada Wong may be arriving in the future, however, according to a recent datamine.

Game files of RE4’s remake have revealed a folder by the name of “_anotherorder.” Another Order is the Japanese name of the Separate Ways mode, which suggests that a DLC may be available in the remake at some point in the future. The datamined folders also reveal a file name for the Mercenaries DLC that was announced last month.

While the folder itself doesn’t outright confirm the existence of a DLC featuring Ada Wong, it’s a definite possibility. A recent interview with the game’s developers did reveal that Ada Wong would play a bigger role in the remake, so a DLC isn’t out of the question.

Same as with any datamine, nothing here is confirmed unless confirmed by Capcom. However, most datamines do ring out to be true, so don’t be surprised to hear about this once we’ve gotten The Mercenaries mode free DLC set for release on April 7.

Apex Legends Patch 1.000.034 Preload for Sun Squad Collection Now Live

The Apex Legends patch 1.000.034 preload is now live on PlayStation platforms, and this is to bring the Sun Squad Collection event that’s launching this March 28! Players can expect new items to earn, as well as new tweaks! Thankfully, Respawn has released the Apex Legends 1.000.034 patch notes ahead of its release.

Apex Legends Patch 1.000.034 Patch Notes:

Time to catch and fire some rays in the Sun Squad Collection Event

See if you handle the heat in a new limited-time mode Heatwave and check out Ash’s “Strongest Link” Heirloom

Sun’s out? Guns out in the Sun Squad Collection event featuring a brand new limited-time mode that turns up the heat on Battle Royale, 24 limited-time cosmetics including Legendary skins for Fuse, Mirage, and more, and the debut of Ash’s “Strongest Link” Heirloom.

NEW LIMITED-TIME MODE: HEATWAVE

HEATWAVE is a new limited-time mode that turns up the heat on the Apex Games. All the usual rules of Trio’s apply, but you’ll want to look out for Heatwaves that periodically happen throughout the match. When the heats on, you’ll need to avoid taking damage from the sun by taking cover indoors or under objects. If you’re caught out in the open, only sliding cools you down if you want to avoid Heatwave damage on the move. Lastly, Heatshields have increased in size and protect you in a large area from the sun for those moments when you’re caught outdoors and need to beat the heat quickly. Take care when using Heatshields though, they will be destroyed quickly when deployed outside the Ring.

Keep an eye out for Care Packages. Perhaps there lies another way to mitigate the effects of the sun and look cool while doing it. But you’ll need to jump into the mode on March 28th to find out more.

SUN SQUAD COLLECTION EVENT ITEMS

Unlock 24 explosive limited-time cosmetics, with Legendary skins for Ash, Mirage, Fuse, and more!

All 24 items will be available in exchange for Apex Coins or Crafting Metals and in Sun Squad Collection Event Apex Packs for the entire duration of the event.

If you unlock them all before the event ends, you’ll automatically receive Ash’s “Strongest Link” Heirloom!

REWARD TRACKER

You can earn up to 1,600 points per day and challenges refresh daily. All these challenges also stack with your Battle Pass so you can complete multiple challenges at once.

Report: Ubisoft Backs Out of E3 2023, Holding Ubisoft Forward Live Event on June 12 Instead

The woes of what was once gaming’s biggest expo event are not yet over. After promising to attend earlier, Ubisoft has now backed out of E3 2023, leaving the event with no confirmed major companies in attendance when the date is drawing precariously close.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) for the first time since 2019 this summer, kicking off its Digital Week on June 11. However, despite a change of hosts and significant marketing efforts, the event has been unable to count gaming giants Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo among its promised attendees. Back in February, Ubisoft promised to attend and bring a “strong line-up” of games to Los Angeles, but it appears the French company too no longer sees a reason to come to the event. Instead, it will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12 in the city to showcase its offerings for this year. Here’s the official statement:

E3 has fostered unforgettable moments across the industry throughout the years. While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction, and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on 12th June in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon.

Salt on ReedPop’s wound is the fact that before Ubisoft, Microsoft essentially did the same thing: it confirmed a physical no-show at E3 2023 while still bringing a digital showcase to the event, and is also holding its own event in the same timeframe in Los Angeles.

Crime Boss: Rockay City Launch Trailer Shoots Out Ahead of March 28 Release Date

Crime Boss: Rockay City, the star-studded heist game by Ingame Studios and 505 games, is coming to PC tomorrow, and a new trailer has been released ahead of release. The Crime Boss: Rockay City launch trailer features a little bit of everything, including cutscene footage, gameplay, and more.

You can find the trailer below:

The trailer highlights the game’s cast, featuring Michael Madsen, Chuck Norris, and Kim Basinger, among other well-known actors. Players will also get a feel for the game’s over-the-top storytelling, particularly when it comes to Chuck Norris’ character as The Sherrif.

Crime Boss: Rockay City was originally announced during The Game Awards last year. It’s been a few months since then, and we’ve gotten raw gameplay footage as well as a bit of information from a recent financial report. With the game just a day away from launch, it won’t be long before players get to perform heists across Rockay City and beyond.

Here’s a list of features from the official Epic Games Store page:

Rockay City. A thriving metropolis with excitement buzzing from the sandy bay to the towering skyscrapers. But beyond the glamour, there is a fierce turf war raging on…
After the demise of the previous crime boss, there’s an open vacancy for a new King of Rockay City – but it isn’t just you who is fighting for the throne. Choose your crew based on their skills and expertise, and execute daring missions with the hopes of walking away with the cash, the turf and, ultimately, the crown.

Make Sure You’re Connected
Rockay City doesn’t just look and feel like the 90s, you’ll find a few familiar faces there too. From the charismatic Travis Baker (Michael Madsen) and his team of planners and handlers (Michael Rooker, Kim Basinger, Danny Glover and Damion Poitier), to rival gang bosses (Danny Trejo and Vanilla Ice) and the righteous Sheriff Norris (Chuck Norris): it’s not what you know, but who you know.

Keep Your Friends Close
Stealing everything from cash and drugs, through to priceless artifacts is more fun with accomplices. Jump into the PVE co-op multiplayer and take on thrilling hits and heists with up to four players. Fail and you leave empty handed, but succeed and you’ll find yourself richly rewarded.

And Your Enemies Closer
Play as Baker in the single player campaign as he builds his empire using strategy, cunning and a little fire power to carry out heists and take territory from rival gangs. Winning the turf war won’t be easy though – between Dollar Dragon, Hielo and Khan trying to take the city for themselves, and Sheriff Norris aiming to stop you all in your tracks, this roguelike campaign will reward and punish in equal measure.

The Best Revenge is Massive Success
These aren’t just nameless thugs – these are real people, with real big problems. Explore how Cracker, Jupiter, Wiz and the gang ended up in Rockay City and help them pull off different jobs to get back on top. Each story is made up of multiple missions, which allows you to fully experience their life of crime.

Crime Boss: Rockay City is set to release tomorrow on March 28, with the new trailer mentioning the game coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

Final Fantasy 14 Stormblood Expansion Free to Claim for Starter Edition Owners Until May 8

Final Fantasy 14, the fantasy MMORPG title from Square Enix, is offering one of the game’s major expansions in Stormblood as free-to-claim for owners of the game’s Starter Edition. Final Fantasy 14’s Stormblood promotion is set to run until May 8, so those interested in claiming Stormblood for free will have over a month to do so.

The free expansion deal was announced via the official Final Fantasy 14 Twitter page:

There are a couple of things worth noting regarding the promotion. For starters, the deal is only available to those who’ve purchased the Starter Edition of Final Fantasy 14. Players who are still on the game’s free trial will be unable to claim this expansion. Aside from this, only existing purchasers of the Starter’s Edition seem to be eligible, so you won’t be able to claim Stormblood if you bought the game now.

While not a whole lot of players may be eligible for the promotion, given the fact that many players already own the DLCs all the way to Endwalker, it’s still a neat bonus to have for those who are starting to dip their feet into FF14. The Starter Edition only gives access to A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, and adding Stormblood on top of that will give Starter Edition players even more content to try out at no extra cost.

Watch 8 Minutes of New UFL Gameplay, Complete With Slide Tackles & Rainbow Flicks

Strikerz Inc. has released a new UFL gameplay video from its alpha stage, showcasing the soccer sim’s visuals and gameplay experience through the second half of a 1-0 match. While still in need of polishing and adjustments, the title shows significant promise and even features flair and skill moves, such as the famous rainbow flick.

Watch the eight-minute-long gameplay video below:

As a newcomer in the soccer sim industry, UFL (built in Unreal Engine 4) aims to compete with EA Sports’ FIFA and Konami’s eFootball titles. The gameplay footage above is taken from the January 2023 alpha build of the game, and shows off the second half of a 1-0 match.

Soccer sim fans will immediately notice that UFL’s overall game pace is slower than FIFA, but shot speed appears to be comparably faster. These choices lend themselves to a smoother, arguably more tactical game outside the box, but relatively quicker finishes inside the box and consequently more impactful counter attacks. Passes, air balls, and crosses all appear to be more linear and driven than one would expect in FIFA. The game incorporates fan-favorite tricks and skill moves, such as the rainbow flick which is performed a few times throughout the course of the video.

While not yet the experience offered in other, more famous games in the genre, UFL holds value as a respectable soccer sim in and of itself. The developers also acknowledge (and display amusing examples of) the glitches present in the game in its current stage of development, and promise that the title will significantly improve in the coming months, especially once the new animation system has been fully implemented.

UFL will shoot out on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One sometime later in 2023.

Resident Evil 4 Village Fight Can Be Skipped by a Simple Trick

Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake is full of surprises, with secrets and hidden gems that players can encounter throughout the story. One such secret involves a way to skip past the Resident Evil 4 village fight in Chapter 1 of the story almost instantly with just one gunshot.

To skip the village fight in Resident Evil 4, all players have to do is shoot the tower bell found at the edge of the map. You can only shoot it from a certain angle, so here’s a video showing you where to go in order to hit the bell:

It’s generally recommended to use scoped weapons as this will make it easier for you to land your bullets. Handguns and weapons with a shorter range such as shotguns are not very reliable for this, so you may not be able to skip through the fight during your first playthrough of the game.

This interaction was discovered by Tactical_Banter on Reddit, who shared it on r/residentevil. While some players originally didn’t believe in the claim, it turned out that the trick was, in fact, legitimate, and many players now see this secret interaction being useful for Professional mode runs or speedrun attempts.

Xbox Game Pass $1 Introductory Offer Axed by Microsoft

For years, Microsoft has been offering an Xbox Game Pass $1 introductory offer, used to bring in new subscribers to familiarize them with Xbox’s greatest gaming offering for a single dollar before asking them to pay full price. Now, the company has officially winded up that offer, revealing that it still plans to explore other marketing strategies for new subscribers going forward.

The $1 introductory offer for the Ultimate and PC tiers of Xbox Game Pass let users enjoy over 400 games and even Xbox Cloud Gaming with the former for an incomparably low cost for the first month, and has likely been a major reason for the service’s growth in the last few years. Now that it has been officially terminated, Microsoft intends to promote the service to new users in different ways:

We have stopped our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.

Any new “marketing promotions” are fairly likely to be focused around the Friends & Family Game Pass plan that Microsoft has been slowly rolling out throughout the world, currently with the notable exceptions of the U.K. and the U.S. The $1 introductory offer will probably remain a thing of the past, though, considering the company’s admission that Xbox Game Pass “cannibalizes” video game sales.

Toxic Crusader Hands-On Preview: ’90’s Nostalgic Toxicity

Gamers who have been watching cartoons since the ’90s, you might remember the Toxic Crusaders; an animated series loosely based on the Toxic Avenger film. At PAX East 2023, Retroware announced a brand new side-scrolling beat-em-up, and as it turns out, the game was playable as well! Let’s be honest, not many people in 2023 are going to remember the 13-episode Toxic Crusaders cartoon from the early ’90s, but I am old enough to have seen it, and thanks to the nostalgia and success of last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenger, the timing seems perfect for more games like this to hit the market.

Cleaning Up!

About Toxic Crusaders; I’m not going to pretend to know everything about the history of Troma Entertainment; going all the way back to the cult classic Toxic Avenger, the entire Tromaville universe has built a massive following, and Toxic Crusaders seems like the perfect franchise for a game like this.

Since I live near Boston and have been to every PAX East, this was one of the games I was pretty excited to get my hands on, and as it would happen, they had what I consider to be the premium location on the floor at the bottom of the main escalators and their display was awesome. They even had two people dressed up as Toie and Yvonne that you could have pictures taken with. I’ve seen a lot of great booths over the years, and this was one of the best I can remember.

The game has seven playable characters: Toxie, Junkyard, No-Zone, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko. I ended up playing as Junkyard, and my friend Chris played Toxie. Two characters were greyed out, so I assume they weren’t ready or maybe locked for progression. Possibly even being saved up for a surprise reveal too.

Kicking Dirt Around

I don’t think you need to know much about the franchise to enjoy this game and appreciate it for what it is. It’s not reinventing the wheel by any means, but like TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge (Read the MP1st’s review of it here), it is all about leaning into the nostalgia of growing up in arcades. It is an absolute button masher full of bright, vibrant colors that leans into the campiness the whole Troma Universe has created.

The demo I got to play was longer than I expected, and lasted approximately 15-20 minutes. The game features up to four-player co-op, and my friend Chris and I had one other people join us in the fun. People were able to drop in and out on the fly. I started the session by myself, then Chris joined in, then a third person who played for a bit and dropped out, only to have a fourth person join back in. They picked No-Zone and then Yvonne to go with Toxie and Junkyard. In the end, we fought a big Godzilla-looking boss and saved the streets of Tromaville.

It’s pretty safe to say you know what you’re getting here if you’ve played any classic arcade game like X-Men, The Simpsons, Altered Beast, and of course, those lovable Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Retroware did a great job capturing that old-school arcade vibe, and based on my short playtime with it, So far, I think Toxic Crusader is in good hands. Being at a PAX East like this one, where the big guns all sat out, hopefully, means a huge opportunity for studios like Retroware to have more eyes on their games, as these indie titles often end up being the big standouts, which Toxic Crusader definitely is.

You can currently Wishlist the game on Steam, though no actual release date is available at this time. It seems like, as of now, that is the only platform the game will be available on, but I do hope it makes its way to consoles at some point. since these types of games are perfect for couch co-op gaming.

Final Fantasy 16 Quality & Performance Graphics Modes on PS5 Detailed

During the PAX East 2023 panel for the game, producer Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) revealed that Final Fantasy 16 will have both quality and performance graphics modes on PS5. The “Graphics” quality mode targets 30fps at 4K (2160p) resolution, while the “Frame Rate” performance mode targets 60fps at 1440p (2K).

Yoshi-P dove deep into the world of Final Fantasy 16 for fans at PAX East 2023, with support from Localization Director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox. Besides its combat systems, general gameplay, and portions of the story, the producer also revealed the technical marvels the title has been able to achieve on the PS5. With incredibly short loading times made possible by the console’s hardware power, Final Fantasy 16 may well be set to become the PS5’s “killer app” three years into the console’s launch.

However, Final Fantasy 16 also takes care to cater to gamers who seek a smoother gameplay experience at the expense of quality. The game includes a 4K-at-30fps “Graphics” mode as well as a 1440p-at-60fps “Frame Rate” performance mode, and players will be able to switch between these modes at any point during gameplay.

new final fantasy 16 gameplay

The PAX East showcase, visually breathtaking as it was, employed the Frame Rate mode to better show off gameplay, which all but guarantees that the Graphics mode will provide an even more impressive visual experience when gamers get their hands on the title later this year.

Final Fantasy 16 is set for a June 22, 2023 launch on the PS5.

New Final Fantasy 16 Gameplay Spotlights Eikon vs Eikon Boss Fights, Exploration, and More

Quite a bit of Final Fantasy 16 gameplay footage was shown at a recent panel held at PAX East 2023, and this included gameplay footage of Eikon boss fights, exploration, and more. The panel was hosted by FF16 producer Naoki Yoshida and Localization Director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox.

Here’s a video showcasing all the gameplay footage that was presented at the PAX East panel:

During the panel, Yoshida himself played Final Fantasy 16 in front of the live audience, showcasing various elements of the game, including its fast travel system, load times, and various areas that you can explore throughout Valisthea. Fast travel and loading times for FF16 happened in a matter of seconds. “It’s just short enough that we don’t have to put a ‘Now Loading’ symbol on the screen,” said Yoshida, who was translated by Fox. Yoshida’s brief gameplay session at PAX East also included some combat footage using the Timely accessories, gameplay-assisting items that can be used as needed to ease the difficulty for players who aren’t used to action RPGs. He also briefly explored one of the small settlements found in-game as well as The Hideaway, an area where Clive can regroup, restock, and upgrade his items between quests.

Toward the end of the presentation, Yoshida showcased a brief gameplay trailer of the game’s Eikon vs Eikon battles, one of the game’s main highlights. We’ve already seen footage of the Ifrit vs Garuda boss fight from a preview last month, but this new trailer highlights even more Eikon battles.

The trailer reveals that players gain more moves as Ifrit as the story progresses. Aside from this, it also reveals that players will, at some point, get to pilot the Pheonix Eikon, and even fight another Eikon of Fire. This raises quite a few questions, but we’ll have to wait until the game’s release to find out the context behind these scenes.

Final Fantasy 16 is set to come out on June 22, 2023 on PS5, with Yoshida and Fox stating that they “don’t expect any delays” for the game.
