Battlefield 2042 PS4 and PS5 Pre-Load Now Live, Here’s Much Space You Need

While the Battlefield 2042 pre-load for Xbox gamers went live on November 6, PlayStation gamers can pre-load the game client now as well! Yes, the Battlefield 2042 PS4 and PS5 pre-load is now live, and here’s how much disk space you’ll need for each platform in order to download it to be ready at launch.

Battlefield 2042 PS4 and PS5 Pre-Load Sizes:

PS4 File Size: 42.77GB

PS5 File Size: 43.29GB

Oddly enough, the PS5 file is bigger, which is usually not the case given the platform’s enhanced compression tech. Don’t forget, these file sizes do NOT contain the day-one patch yet, so expect to add a bit more to that.

Battlefield 2042 is officially launching this November 19, though it will be playable in early access this November 12. Stay tuned here on MP1st for more BF2042 news this week.

Thanks, PlayStationGameSize!

Improvements

  • Added a new Le Bre North (Invasion) mission to the Invasion of Normandy campaign.
  • Added a new Al Jabal Farm North (Invasion) mission to the Battle of Tunisia campaign.

Squads and AI-soldiers

  • Improved accuracy of AI-soldiers when attacking enemy armored vehicles with grenades: now the grenades will not fly over the target.
  • Fixed an error that caused AI-soldiers to refuse to leave the shelter and follow the order “to take places in the vehicles” or to get into the vehicles together with their commander.
  • The AI-soldiers now have a better way to overcome difficult obstacles: they can jump on the obstacles and climb over them.
  • AI-soldiers now interact with trenches even better: they will more often choose them for shelter and movement instead of bypassing them.
  • The distance at which AI-soldiers prefer to engage in close combat has been reduced from 3 meters to 1.
  • You can now order soldiers to mine the target in Destruction mode. Aim at the target to mine and press the “Squad Context Order” button. You can also give an order by selecting a specific squad member.

Weaponry and equipment

  • Replaced the Bren Mk I model with an authentic one.
  • Added new equipment and uniforms to some British and Italian soldiers.

Graphics and Interface

  • Marked vehicles are now highlighted with their unique icons: car, boat, motorcycle, anti aircraft gun, anti-tank gun and tank. Allied equipment is also displayed with icons on the minicard.

  • Fixed a bug that caused the commander’s machine gun interface to remain on when returning to the combat compartment when the commander was out of the hatch.
  • Fixed incorrect display of rate of fire of PTRD 41 – now the actual rate of fire is limited by the reload rate.

New Map: Wanted

Chaac’s stomping grounds, and the city where he came back from the dead, reborn as his new self.  A local hero, Chaac’s “Grave” is always adorned by marigolds – but especially at a time of unrest.

Located in an arid region of the state of Yucatán, Mexico, the people want justice, and freedom from a despot.

The corrupt Governor, in an attempt to maintain his tyrannical grip has made a deal with Jackal to suppress the unruly populace.  The resulting conflict has left the government’s building and the surrounding heart of the city a mess.

Rogue Company arrives to fight back against Jackal, fight corruption and learn about something far greater.

Rogues

  • Delayed health regeneration of all rogues by 2s.
  • Ronin
    • Ronin’s model has received some visual updates
  • Saint
    • Now has lifeline instead of tracker rounds
    • Helping hand has been replaced with Stalker
  • Talon
    • Radar dart will now reveal enemies within its radius

Weapons

  • Arbitrator
    • Increased the base and upgraded fire rates.
    • Now has nonlinear damage per pellet
    • Hipfire accuracy reduced
      • This should actually help you do damage more consistently via a wider spread
    • Increased damage falloff value at first and second falloff ranges
    • Increased damage range by 1 meter
  • SKL6
    • Now has nonlinear damage per pellet
    • Decreased Range by 1 meter
    • Reduced headshot damage from 125 to 110.
    • Reduced bodyshot damage from 88 to 75.
  • S12 Tactical
    • Now has nonlinear damage per pellet
    • Headshot damage reduced from 96 to 75
    • Bodyshot damage reduced from 70 to 60
  • Striker 8×10
    • Now has nonlinear damage per pellet
    • Headshot damage reduced from 80/88 to 64/72
    • Bodyshot damage reduced from 72/80 to 52/60
  • LR15
    • Reverted scope zoom change

We received a mixed bag of feedback on the scope changes. Some of you liked it, some of you didn’t, some of you were indifferent. As a result, we’ve decided to revert this change for the time being until we can eventually implement a toggle zoom on this weapon.

  • Devotion
    • Base Fire Rate increased
    • Upgraded Fire Rate increased

The devotion is a hard weapon to use, but has strong upsides if you can land a single headshot on your target. With the fire rate being as slow as it is, it is very punishing to miss shots at all. We feel there’s some room to increase the fire rate to make it a more viable choice even if you only land bodyshots or miss a shot.

  • Assault Rifles
    • Class wide range reduction of 2m 10%)
    • Max damage falloff range reduced by 2m
  • Submachine Guns
    • Class wide range reduction of 1m (10%)
    • Max damage falloff range reduced by 1m

ARs and SMGs are most definitely the dominant force in Rogue Company and have been for some time. The goal of these changes is for these two weapon types to be less competitive with DMRs at long range, without changing damage values & time to kill

Gadgets

  • C4
    • Level 2 Upgrade now increases damage from 150 to 175.
  • Frag
    • Level 2 Upgrade increased radius from 3m to 3.25.
    • Level 2 Upgrade outer damage increased from 40 to 50.
  • Semtex Grenade:
    • Level 2 upgrade now increases base damage from 100 to 125.
  • APS
    • 2nd upgrade now increases the amount of projectiles that can be neutralized by 1 for a total of 2.

That’s about it for the patch.

Gameplay updates explained
  • Dashdancing in the previous patch we attempted to bridge a gap between having to start up a run from standstill & going into an initial boost out of dashdance. Now the properties have been retooled to allow a dash to receive an initial boost at all times, provided speed is low enough to warrant it, while still requiring some degree of initial commitment to reach max speed. Consequently, this makes dashdancing no longer have a designated cap on when a dash attack can start, simply reach maxspeed to do so
  • Hurtboxes didn’t have the level of accuracy to character models that we were satisfied with, so now every single character has hurtboxes that fully encompass their models. Combined with the alterations to the z-axis calculations that allows hitbox/hurtbox visuals to not be locked to the z-axis, players will now have the ability to see with complete certainty where a character is positioned in 3D space
  • There were some inaccuracies in how the landing lag floors were handled across characters, with some having the ability to recover from an aerial far sooner than others under the same minimum landlag conditions. This interaction was not intended, and has been uniformly addressed across the entire cast
  • There were several moves across the cast that didn’t have the block direction reflect the move’s activated direction. This has since been addressed & every move should now be blockable by holding against the direction of initiation.

That’s about it for the patch.

  • Improved the effect of hot air on the ground in the Battle of Tunisia campaign locations.
  • Minor improvement of water reflection.
  • Added gamma for all platforms and video modes. Gamma correction is now applied in real time.

  • 500 lb ANM-64A Bomb – changed explosive type from TNT to Comp B, also changed explosive quantity from 121.1 kg to 124.2 kg (source: TM 9-1325-200, Bombs and Bomb Components (1966))
  • Fixed a bug that caused the commander’s machine gun interface to remain on when returning to the combat compartment when the commander was out of the hatch.
  • Fixed incorrect display of rate of fire of PTRD 41 – now the actual rate of fire is limited by the reload rate.

PS5 Hack Takes Significant Step As Debug Settings and Root Keys Appear Online

At the time of this writing, Sony’s newest console, the PlayStation 5, is barely a year old. Common sense would dictate that as a console at the forefront of major technologies and innovations, it would take a couple of years at the very least before it inevitably gets hacked and jailbroken. However, it would appear that timeframe may have just moved up by a significant margin, as the PS5 hack scene has seen a major development over the past couple of days, with its debut settings and root keys apparently being uncovered by a major hacking group.

The PS5 hack developments come from the group called fail0verflow, best known for their work on the PlayStation 3 hack back in 2011. The group was also responsible for hacking the PlayStation 4, as well as running Linux and other custom firmware (CFW) on the Nintendo Switch. In their latest venture, they revealed that they have managed to get root keys for the PS5, announcing more on Twitter.

Translation: We got all (symmetric) ps5 root keys. They can all be obtained from software – including per-console root key, if you look hard enough!

ps5 hack

In addition to fail0verflow, known homebrewer theflow0 also shared a screenshot of Twitter showing that he has managed to gain access to the console’s debug settings which should only be visible to developers.

Does this mean that we are closer to seeing a PS5 jailbreak in the near future? Well, not exactly, as fail0verflow has not given any sorts of ETA on when it will happen; if it even does. Expect Sony to also come at this hard, and their actions may very well lead to this particular exploit not seeing the light of day.

What do you think? Are you interested to see a PS5 jailbreak sooner rather than later? Let us know in the comments below!

Report: COD Vanguard Aim Down Sight Spread (Bloom) Confirmed, Here’s Why ADS Shots Miss

Call of Duty Vanguard enjoyed its release last week, and for the most part its launch was received like any other COD launch. However, there appears to be a mechanic going around which few players know about, one that could heavily impact their gameplay and what kinds of attachments they should be going for. According to a report from known Call of Duty statistician TrueGameData, ADS (aim down sight) spread or COD Vanguard bloom is very much a real thing, and there are several guns in the game which are heavily affected by it.

As shown in his original video, the ADS spread (bloom) is especially noticeable on assault rifles as well as submachine guns. However, since TrueGameData works solely on pure stats, it may be hard to visualize the actual spread in-game. For that particular scenario, you can also check out TheXclusiveAce‘s video, which covers the actual spread with screenshots to show how big it is.

COD Vanguard ADS Spread comparison

As weird as these spreads are in this game, fortunately there is a way to reduce them. According to TrueGameData, ADS spread can be reduced with the Accuracy stat; piling it onto your weapon of choice will tighten the spread, resulting in more accurate shots as you aim down the sights. That said, it is also interesting to note that if you want to make use of other stats, picking a weapon with less base significant spread should do the trick.

What do you think? Does ADS spread (bloom) have a place in COD Vanguard? Let us know in the comments below!

Thanks, TrueGameData and TheXclusiveAce !

Horizon Forbidden West New Enemy Types Revealed

Guerilla Games is pushing the world of Horizon and the creatures they’ve created to its limits, as the Horizon Forbidden West enemy types were revealed in the latest information drop. In addition, the studio revealed that metal beasts are much deadlier and challenging to face, providing the main heroine Aloy with lethal opponents to overcome in the sequel!

According to Principal Machine Designer Blake Politeski, adding new kinds of machines in Horizon Forbidden West was a new challenge he was willing to take after designing the ones that appeared in Horizon Zero Dawn — most of which will be returning in the sequel.

“It was interesting to figure out what type of machines would live in different ecological zones, and how they would interact with each other, their environment, and of course humans. Machines are the so-called caretakers of this world, so how they perform their roles and what the player can do to use these behaviors to their advantage was always interesting to consider.”

So far, the returning enemy types that have been mentioned or confirmed to appear in the game are the following:

  • Watcher
  • Ravager
  • Glinthawk
  • Snapmaw
  • Thunderjaw

Some of the metal beasts Aloy will encounter will be:

  • Clawstrider
  • Tremortusk
  • Sunwing
  • Burrower
  • Shellsnapper

Check the metal beasts in action in this compiled .gif!

With 25 different enemy machine types set to appear in Horizon Forbidden West, players can expect to meet new types of metal beasts such as flying creatures like the Stormbird and the large mammoth like creature known as the Tremortusk. Other machines such as the Clawstrider can be used to help Aloy get through her journey as creatures she can ride on, while exploiting the weakness of creatures like the Sunwing will come in handy.

In fact, Aloy’s new abilities will serve her well in getting through these metal beasts and the new terrain in Horizon Forbidden West, and you can read about that here.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker Release Date Revealed With Launch Trailer

Square Enix has officially dated the fourth major expansion for their long-running MMO, as the Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker release date has been revealed alongside an official launch trailer. Head down below to check out the launch trailer, as well as other details for the expansion that is set to come this December 7.

The new release date for Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker was revealed in the game’s latest broadcast, where producer and director Naoki Yoshida also offered his apologies for the delay:

“We sincerely apologize for postponing the release at the last minute on this occasion. FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker is both the latest expansion pack for the game and the one that will conclude the Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga spanning 11 years since the launch of the original FFXIV.

“We will of course deliver a new adventure in FFXIV to follow on from Endwalker but, with the various struggles we experienced from the failure of the original FFXIV leading up to where we are now, I just couldn’t contain my desire to perfect Endwalker to the best of my ability. As a result, the time we spent on quality improvement exceeded our expectations and we ended up using our time allotted for debugging. On the other hand, as stability is crucial for an online game, I have taken the decision to postpone the release of the expansion pack for two weeks in order to resecure the time for debugging that would arise as we wrap up development.

“Once more, I’d like to convey my deepest apologies to all of our Warriors of Light and partners for the inconvenience this has caused. We will continue to do our utmost to bring you the best adventure in Endwalker and to expand the game experience through further updates that will follow, in order to restore your trust step by step.”

Here are the features coming with this newest expansion, as detailed by Yoshida during the game’s live broadcast:

  • Crafter and Gatherer Updates – New crafting and gathering actions will be added along with adjustments for existing actions. Additionally, Studium Deliveries, which are similar to Crystarium Deliveries, will be added for Disciples of the Hand and Land to experience, with extra quests available upon completing all of the new questlines.
  • New Role Quests – Players can look forward to a new series of role quests for tank, healer, melee DPS, physical ranged DPS, and magical ranged DPS. Players who complete all five role questlines can look forward to extra quests in a future patch update.
  • New Raids – Yoshida offered a first look at the Pandæmonium raid during the broadcast. Normal and Savage difficulties will be available for players to challenge in the forthcoming 6.01 and 6.05 patch updates respectively.
  • New Treasure Hunt Dungeon – A new treasure hunt dungeon, The Excitatron 6000, will arrive with Patch 6.05 and offer new chances at rare treasure and spoils.
  • New Housing Area – The Ishgardian housing area, Empyreum, will be available to visit beginning at the launch of Endwalker, with plots becoming available for purchase with the release of Patch 6.1.
  • Expansive System Updates – New Allagan tomestones, crafter and gatherer scrips, updates to the achievement UI, and more will also be added with the upcoming patch updates.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker will also allow for Early Access play on December 3 alongside the official release date on December 7.

Returnal Update 2.000.003 Shoots Out This November 8

Housemarque has released the Returnal update 2.000.003 patch this November 8. This is an unannounced title update, and given the recent deployment of patch 2.0, don’t expect any new features or content in this patch outside of fixes.

Returnal Update 2.000.003 Patch Notes:

Currently, Housemarque has not revealed what’s included in today’s title update. We are monitoring the official Discord channel of the studio, and will update the post if we hear anything back. For reference, a patch was released last week that was for minor bug fixes, that the studio didn’t even announce given how insignificant it was in terms of gameplay-related changes (there were none).

There is a glitch regarding DLC suits, which might have been part of today’s fixes. Here’s a screenshot of the message posted by Returnal player Jay Kay:

Jay Kay: Cool that’s been reported to Housemarque. From my experience there seems to be an issue with the second DLC suit, I’d be interested in seeing if anyone else wants to try and see if they have the same issue. The suspend point worked fine all the way through until I suspended the game after entering the second part of the stage at which point it seems to think that I just finished act 1.

Once Housemarque acknowledges the patch, we’ll be sure to update the post. If you spot anything gameplay-related changed or fixed, let us know down in the comments what you spot.
