PSA: Far Cry 6 Beta Email Phising Scam Out in the Wild, Here’s What It Looks Like (Update)

While Ubisoft has not given Far Cry 6 a concrete release date just yet, it seems some people are using the game to scam people by emailing them “beta access.” Note that this Far Cry 6 beta email phishing scam is kind of obvious, but we thought it still bears sharing as to alert people that it is out there.

Here’s a screenshot of the email circulating online which some of us on staff have received.:

Apparently, clicking the link will give the sender access to your screen, and can record anything you do. Mind, it seems some thought has been put into this, as the email address is “info@farcry6.us” which anyone who has gotten a press release from Ubisoft can easily tell is a fake.

Nonetheless, let people know that this is going around, and let’s hope no one gets victimized. We’ve reached out to Ubisoft to let them know that this is happening, too.

Update:

Ubisoft has confirmed to MP1st via email that they are aware of this phising email scam floating around.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Crimson Heist Reveal Trailer Features Flores

Ubisoft has today released the Rainbow Six Siege Operation Crimson Heist reveal trailer which features Flores, the new attacker coming in the next major update. Don’t expect any gameplay however, as this is just a teaser of what’s to come.

Over on Ubisoft’s site, a letter mentioning Flores was posted as well.

“Hey Harry,

Gridlock here. Ash was busy, so she asked me to update you on specialist Santiago “Flores” Lucero’s progress. She must’ve noticed that we often have lunch together, along with Dokkaebi. What can I say? He loves tech and mechanics, so the three of us have a lot in common.

He’s excited about the resources we offer, and he spends a good bit of time up in Mira’s business. I doubt she appreciates having him looking over her shoulder, but with time she’ll realize he can be an asset for her. He’s always made his own tools and weapons, and he’s got a different perspective from hers.

Flores doesn’t talk much about growing up in Buenos Aires, but he has heaps to say about the crime lords he used to steal from, both there and in Los Angeles. They’re grand tales of heroism, and I’m inclined to believe them. Ash made it very clear that he’s not just a master thief, but a professional with convictions. I doubt she would have helped him get out of Argentina if she didn’t respect him.

In general, I’d say he’s a good mate. A bit awkward, but he listens when others speak, which is more than I can say for a lot of people. Every night he calls home to talk to his husband, but he’s very private about their relationship (with me at least). He cares about people in general, but his marriage is on another level. Even when he takes off his ring, it never leaves his person.

I’m glad Ash got him on board. I’m sure she had her own reasons, but I don’t think that matters in the grand scheme of things. What does matter is the expertise Flores brings, his perspective, and the shiny little explosive invention he brought along. I’m excited to see him in action, I have a feeling a lot of people will be surprised.

— Tori “Gridlock” Fairous”

Don’t forget, the full reveal for Flores will be happening this Sunday, February 21. MP1st will have the important details for you then.

Outriders Demo Release Times Revealed, SE Account Gives Free Emote, “No Plans” for Cross-Progression

Multiplayer fans, a new player is entering the ring! People Can Fly’s Outriders is set to hit store shelves this April, but the Outriders demo will be available next week! For those looking to try before they buy, the Outriders demo release times have been revealed, along with a slew of other info.

The Outriders demo is set to launch this Feb. 25, and will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, GeForce Now. Here’s the exact times for when it’ll be out:

People Can Fly posted an FAQ, and also held an impromptu Q&A session on Twitter for the demo where a ton of info was shared and confirmed! For starters, there won’t be a pre-load feature available, and that progress from the demo (they made it clear it’s a demo and not a beta) will carry over to the final game (provided you buy it, of course). Check out the info-filled FAQ below.

  • This will be a Demo, NOT a Beta.
  • It is entirely free. No purchase or pre-order required.
    • The demo is available in Germany on PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Steam). To download the demo for free on PlayStation you need a PS+ subscription. If you do not have PS+ in Germany, the demo is also available but you will have to undergo the usual age verification process.
  • The Demo will release at these SINGLE GLOBAL RELEASE times: Twitter Link
  • The demo will be available on the following Platforms:
    • PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (Steam & streaming with NVIDIA GeForce NOW)
  • The download size for the demo will be:
    • PC: Minimum 24GB (possibly more after decompression)
    • Consoles: Minimum 22GB (possibly more after decompression)
  • Pre-loading is not currently planned to be available.
  • Crossplay will be available in the demo, but it will be in beta form and will need to be manually enabled via your settings.
  • Our Discord (Discord.gg/Outriders) has been set up with plenty of Looking-For-Group voice channels in case you’re looking to party up with any other players in particular.
  • There is no time limit, either for playing or for accessing it prior to launch. The demo is also planned to remain live beyond launch.
  • The demo includes the game’s prologue & opening chapter. This means that gear & enemies that you come across will be the early game variants. The further you get in the full Outriders story, the more twisted, exotic and powerful both gear & enemies will become
  • The demo runs up until the showdown with Gauss, the first rival Altered who may be even more dangerous than you.
    • Some side missions unlock after defeating Gauss so you will be able to go back and explore the world.
  • The demo includes all 4 classes and 6 character slots.
    • This means you can try out every class without needing to delete any characters.
  • Your Character levels are capped to Level 7
    • This will allow you to earn your classes 4th ability and be able to to mix and match your active skills in the demo.
    • This will also allow you to earn 2 skill points that you can apply to your skill tree.
  • You can progress up to World Tier 5.
    • World Tiers are our dynamic difficulty system. At level 5, your chance for higher rarity gear is increased, but the drop chance for Legendary Gear is still extremely low.
  • Resources will be capped at a certain (generous) amount in order to safeguard balancing for when you go into the main game.
    • Resources are mainly used within our extensive crafting system but can also be traded for better gear from the armorers in the game. The crafting system unlocks in the full game once you’re at a point beyond the demo content, but you can save your resources for use with that system.
  • You will be able to transfer your progress if you play the main game on the same platform account (Platforms are PlayStation / Xbox / Steam).
    • Progress will not transfer between the Demo on Steam and the Full Game on the Epic Store.
  • The demo will not include any trophies or achievements, but your in-game accolades will transfer along with your regular progress.
  • You are free to stream any part of the the Demo. No restrictions.
    • Please note that there is a trailer that plays at the end of the demo. As this trailer contains licensed music, we would recommend caution when streaming this section.

Answering user questions on Reddit, Square Enix Community Manager thearcan confirmed that a Square Enix (SE) account is required in order to try the demo, and that it will even give you a free emote for logging in.

As for cross-progression, there are “no plans” at this time. This was confirmed by the studio in answering a fan question:

It seems that most of the questions aimed at the demo also applies to the final game, which makes this FAQ a treasure trove of info.

Outriders is riding out on April 1 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 starts Feb. 25! Got that? Good. Now read on for the new modes, weapons and maps! Check out the Season 2 gameplay trailer below too. For Zombies fans who are looking for somtehing new, Treyarch has also outlined the Outbreak experience!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlnvEKOzDZM&feature=youtu.be

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Download and Timing:

For Season Two, Black Ops Cold War will receive a rolling update on February 23 scheduled between 9PM and 11PM PT, and Warzone will receive a rolling update on February 24 between 9PM and 11PM PT.

Along with kicking off a new season of content, these updates will also include quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes to the current Black Ops Cold War and Warzone games. For more information on the content of these updates, consult Treyarch’s Game Intel blogs for Black Ops Cold War patch notes, and Raven Software’s Twitter and forthcoming blog for Warzone patch notes.

Note that the Black Ops Cold War download is not necessary if you are only playing Warzone, and vice versa.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 2 Calendar

Prepare for six new weapons to make their way into the game and it includes the crossbow! Note that not every weapon will be available the moment Season 2 starts, as some will be released in the mid-season update.

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 New Weapons:

FARA 83: Assault Rifle (Launch Week)

This fully-automatic assault rifle is a heavyweight among its peers, as it claims one of the fastest fire rates in its class and outstanding effective range for solid damage. In the hands of a capable Operator, the FARA 83 can be a true force in crushing the opposition.

Obtain the FARA 83 for free to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 15 of the Season Two Battle Pass, just by playing the game.

LC10: SMG (Launch Week)

A well-rounded full auto submachine gun, the LC10 grants CQB Operators the ability to stretch fights out into the mid-range on a smaller, agile weapon platform thanks to its solid accuracy and extended effective damage range. Although its damage per shot is on the lower end of the SMG spectrum, its above-average fire rate and lower recoil can prove to be a deadly combination.

Obtain the LC10 for free to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 31 of the Season Two Battle Pass, just by playing the game.

Machete: Special (In Season)

Manufactured from a durable steel blade, the Machete is a broad foot-long blade tempered to maximum toughness in order to withstand chipping and breaking. It is widely used in tropical countries as both a weapon and an agricultural tool, and is the preferred melee weapon of choice for Naga in stealth and close-quarters engagements.

E-Tool: Melee (In Season)

Put your enemy six feet under with the E-Tool, a military style tri-fold shovel typically used to dig a defensive fighting position. Recently modernized for the wars of the late 20th century, the E-Tool is considered standard issue for soldiers around the world for its utility. But as a Secondary Weapon, is just as effective as an ancillary weapon in extreme close quarters.

R1 Shadowhunter: Special (In Season)

This crossbow’s simple and lightweight design allows for great handling and quieter eliminations. If an Operator doesn’t prefer its iron sights, they can still shoot accurately from the hip in close quarters or opt to attach one of several Optics. Happy hunting.

ZRG 20mm: Sniper (In Season)

Built for sharpshooters who need power to eliminate targets at extremely long ranges, this bolt-action sniper rifle boasts a faster bullet velocity than any other weapon in its class, as well as the ability to eliminate Operators with a single shot to the head, chest, or shoulders in exchange for a slower fire rate. Its reload speeds are among the fastest in the category, allowing snipers to quickly change out magazines when faced with multiple hostile forces.

Obtain the Machete, E-Tool, R1 Shadowhunter, and ZRG 20mm to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone during Season Two in one of two ways: Complete a related Challenge to obtain the free base weapon or purchase a bundle with a Blueprint version when it appears in the Store.

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 New Maps:

Apocalypse (6v6) (Launch Week)

Welcome to the Lao jungle cartel base in the heart of the Golden Triangle: Apocalypse. As Perseus forces are rumored to be hiding key intel in their stronghold in Laos, the CIA’s finest approach the village ready to extract any evidence they can on the Nova 6 supply line… and Adler’s whereabouts.

This small-to-medium sized map is built for aggressive Operators, funneling action under stilted buildings and through the temple fortress. Give chase to the enemy through the buildings and temple, making sure not to be too distracted from the glint of gold being loaded into the trucks on the main road.

Golova (Multi-Team) (In-Season)

Golova appears to be a traditional Russian village located within the picturesque Ural Plains, but beneath its surface, it holds a dark secret embedded by its designer and creator, Nikita Dragovich.

A testing ground for the expansion of the Numbers Program, Golova features plenty of close-quarter combat opportunities throughout the town, from a massive church to its rows of houses and industrial park. The stair-stepped terrain on which the town was built still provides some long-range firefight opportunities but encourages tighter, CQB play around its objective areas.

Mansion (2v2, 3v3) (In-Season)

The action in Gunfight and Face Off is about to heat up with this mid-season addition to the map pool.

Set in Havana, Cuba at the Hefe Mansion (last seen in the Campaign’s “End of the Line” mission), this small map takes place across both courtyards: an eastern one with two palm trees and a gazebo, and a western one with a statue sitting atop a non-functional fountain. These open courtyards contrast to a center wrapped room with a small side hallway and an exposed balcony that can serve as a risky power position.

Expect action to be head-on and frenetic, especially when the overtime zone comes into play at the dead center of the main hall.

Miami Strike (6v6) (In Season)

Rise and shine, Miami… because soon, it will be time to infiltrate Ocean Park Drive during the day.

With the sun glistening off the colorful murals of Miami’s South Beach neighborhood, Miami Strike will focus the action into a smaller daytime rendition of the original map. Whether it’s a white-knuckle game of TDM or a tense Hardpoint battle, the heat is always on in the streets of Miami.

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 New Multiplayer Modes:

Gun Game (Free-For-All) (Launch Week)

The fan-favorite party game mode is back in Black Ops Cold War! In this Free-for-All mode, Operators are tested on their gunfighting proficiency with no Custom Loadouts, Perks, Equipment, Field Upgrades, or Scorestreaks. Instead, each Operator must progress through a pre-determined set of 20 weapons, starting with a pistol and ending with the Knife. Operators can sabotage their enemies by either eliminating them with a melee attack or Finishing Move, which will set them back one level in their weapon set. The first player to kill an enemy with each weapon wins the match.

Stockpile (6v6) (In Season)

Stockpile mixes Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint together for a fast-paced, slay-heavy objective game mode. In Stockpile, Operators must eliminate enemies and collect their dog tags. But unlike Kill Confirmed, these dog tags won’t count towards their teams score until they are stockpiled at deposit sites that rotate around the map throughout the match.

Operators can carry multiple dog tags at a time and attempt to deposit them for a massive boost in score and XP, but if they’re killed, all of their dog tags will scatter for anyone to pick up. The first team to collect and deposit a set number of dog tags wins the match.

Hardpoint (Multi-Team) (In Season)

Get the squad together and prepare for the biggest version of Hardpoint ever created in Call of Duty. Taking place across the largest maps in Black Ops Cold War, this hectic new squad-based Hardpoint mode tasks 10 squads of four with capturing and defending Hardpoint hills around the map that rotate every 120 seconds. The first squad to reach 500 seconds of total objective time wins the match.

 New Scorestreak and Vehicles:

Scorestreak: Death Machine (Launch Week)

First seen in the original Black Ops, the Death Machine is a handheld minigun with high damage rounds that suppress enemies in the line of fire. Its raw damage output also allows it to tear through low-flying or grounded enemy Scorestreaks, as well as vehicles.

As of Season Two, the Death Machine will also be added into Zombies as an additional Support weapon in Outbreak, “Firebase Z,” and “Die Maschine.”

Vehicle: Sedan (Launch Week)

Within Outbreak, Operators can find an old, yet surprisingly reliable Eastern Bloc sedan to help them survive. Featuring enough room for the whole squad, this new vehicle is great for getting to the next objective quickly or performing a drive-by (or a ramming charge) on the undead hordes.

Vehicle: Light Truck (Launch Week)

Another new vehicle that appears in Outbreak, this four-passenger off-road military vehicle delivers plenty of pep for a light utility truck. The lack of windows or a roof leaves plenty of room for Operators to fire out at the undead, or parachute in for an epic escape.

New Prestige Levels and Season Challenges for Season 2:

Just like at the start of Season One, your Season Level will reset to 1 at the beginning of Season Two, and your progress will resume from the highest Prestige Level you achieved previously. This season offers four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, as well as a new Weapon Blueprint, as follows:

•               Level 50: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, Weapon Blueprint, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

•               Level 100: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

•               Level 150: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

•               Level 190: All Season Challenges Available

•               Level 200: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, Battle Pass Tier Skip, Master Prestige Calling Card

•               Level 250-1,000: New Prestige Key every 50 levels

This means you can earn four new Prestiges during Season Two if you reached Prestige Master – now 11 in total – and you can always catch up to the latest available Prestige if you didn’t reach it during the previous season, as well.

Season Challenges (Launch Week)

A fresh set of 20 Multiplayer Challenges (across Black Ops Cold War and Warzone) and 20 Zombies Challenges are ready to be unlocked and conquered during Season Two.

At Season Level 1 and every 10 Season Levels after, a new Multiplayer and Zombies Challenge will be available for completion. Each objective has a large XP reward and a unique Calling Card to earn, and completing the whole set of Multiplayer or Zombies Challenges rewards a 10,000 XP boost and an animated Master Calling Card.

Remember: once a Season Challenge is unlocked during this season, you can continue to earn progress toward it in future seasons. That includes any Season Challenges unlocked during Season One, so be sure to unlock them now before the start of Season Two.

New Call of Duty Warzone Season 2 Content:

New Points of Interest

Across Verdansk, there are a number of points of interest to either discover or more fully explore, all advancing Warzone’s story while offering new places to scavenge and scrap for survival.

Last sighted off the coast of Rebirth Island, recent intel suggests that the cargo tanker Vodianoy has gone missing at sea. However, recent visuals have identified a vessel matching the description heading toward the Port of Verdansk. Operators within the vicinity are recommended to exercise extreme caution, as the ship is carrying unknown cargo, and its crew are not able to be contacted.

Meanwhile, within Verdansk, something major is beginning to rumble deep underground.

Although other reports on these new locales are still classified, we’d advise to explore these areas at your own risk.

New Game Mode: Exfiltration (In Season)

It’s about time that the exfil chopper arrives before the Circle Collapse fully closes in. During an Exfiltration Battle Royale, a portable radio crackles into life, coming online somewhere in Verdansk. The Operator who secures this radio and holds onto it for a sufficient period of time automatically wins the game for them (or their squad, in non-Solo modes). To ensure their exfil isn’t by the book, anyone holding the radio is marked on the Tac Map as if they were under a Most Wanted Contract (also known as an HVT or High Value Target) with all Operators also receiving intel on how much longer the current radio holder has until they win. Other than this new win condition, the same Battle Royale rules apply. Expect a circle collapse and a winner to be determined by last Operator or squad standing, should nobody receive an early exfil with the radio.

New Game Mode: Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme (Launch Week)

Resurgence just received some reinforcements.

The high-octane, respawn-enabled Resurgence mode on Rebirth Island will be taken to the extreme during Season Two, upping the max player count in the limited-time Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme mode. Up to 90 players can drop onto Rebirth Island for an incredibly frenetic fight for supremacy, as they look to eliminate every last member of enemy squads to prevent them from getting a second, third, or even forth chance at revenge.

Just like Resurgence, squad members can spawn back in if their Rebirth Countdown hits zero and at least one of their allies is still alive, and specific Caches around the map will refresh their items frequently to ensure there is no shortage of firepower around the island.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies Season 2 Content:

New Zombies Experience: Outbreak (Launch Week)

The next chapter of the Dark Aether story takes the agents of Requiem deep into the heart of Russia, where they’ll fight to survive their greatest challenges yet. Welcome to Outbreak: an entirely new, large-scale Zombies experience unlike any other!

As Requiem continues to fall behind in the arms race against Omega Group, various regions in the Ural Mountains have recently become Dark Aether outbreak sites. With new opportunities to research the Dark Aether and advance Requiem’s agenda, it’s up to you and three fellow agents to complete the deadly experiments that few have survived.

Continuing the Dark Aether story, Outbreak takes place across massive play spaces throughout the Ural Mountains, packed with new enemies, team objectives, player rewards, and intel to discover on foot, in vehicles, or by jump pads. Whether its hunting down elite enemies using a satellite tracker, escorting a Rover that detects dimensional portals, or holding out against zombies in a confined Dark Aether zone, agents of Requiem will need to complete these investigations before they can Exfil… or risk entering a Dark Aether portal to a new region for even more rewards.

In the coming days, expect more information on this large-scale Zombies experience from Treyarch, as well as several guides breaking down Outbreak, from the basics to tips on specific objectives.

New Field Upgrade: Frenzied Guard

Add an additional layer of strategy to your Zombies Loadout with Frenzied Guard, a brand-new Field Upgrade perfect for agents who love to be the center of attention.

Upon activation, all enemies will immediately target the Frenzied Guard user for a brief period, during which time only Armor will take damage. This can be a game-changer when fellow Operators are surrounded by the undead masses, as they will turn their attention away from those in peril and towards the armored savior.

Use Aethrium Crystals to upgrade Frenzied Guard with powerful modifiers, such as having it repair all Armor upon activation, increasing its duration to 15 seconds, and even slowing all normal enemies to walk speed while its active.

New Ammo Mod: Shatter Blast

Ready to bring the boom?

The Pack-a-Punch machine and Elemental Pop will now include the Shatter Blast Ammo Mod, which makes all bullets deal explosive damage. Each bullet also has a chance to explode dealing additional explosive damage and destroying any impacted armor.

Intended to help destroy Heavy Zombies, this fantastic mod comes with plenty of explosive upgrades through the Skills menu, including having all explosives deal damage to nearby enemies, knock down normal enemies, or double their size for an even bigger bang.

Two New Skills Tiers

With the help of two new Aetherium Crystal types – Refined and Flawless Aetherium Crystals – agents of Requiem will be able to upgrade all Skills to Tier IV and V.

Prepare to chase those high rounds in traditional round-based Zombies or complete multiple Outbreak investigations in a single run to get a chance at earning these new Crystals, which will further improve your Weapon Classes, Field Upgrades, Perks, and Ammo Mods.

These meta-changing upgrades are powerful enough to deserve their own explanation around the launch of Season Two, so stay tuned.

Whew! That’s a lot of info to take in! If you want to see the new Operators too, check ’em out here.

Overwatch Update 3.06 February 18 Now Live and It’s for Hero Updates

While Blizzard Entertainment released a rather weird patch last week that only affected characters in Experimental, the studio has released the Overwatch update 3.06 February 18 patch, and this is mostly for hero tweaks amd a few gemeral fixes.

Overwatch Update 3.06 February 18 Patch Notes:

HERO UPDATES

ORISA

This will make Fortify more reliable at preventing large bursts of incoming damage and make it more consistent as a defensive ability.

Fortify
  • Prevents critical headshot damage while effect is active

REAPER

Reaper’s shotguns have a high damage potential but require close range or large targets to fully utilize. We’re smoothing this out by extending the range at which he can consistently deal damage while lowering the maximum damage of each shot.

Hellfire Shotguns
  • Spread reduced from 8 to 6
  • Damage per projectile reduced from 7 to 5.5

WINSTON

With this change Winston will be slightly more resilient against shotguns, beams, and weapons with a high rate of fire.

  • Base Armor/Health has been redistributed from 100/400 to 150/350

WRECKING BALL

For how often it can occur, Wrecking Ball’s knockback is too strong. We’re reducing the distance it moves enemy players to bring it more in line with other low cooldown knockback abilities.

Grappling Claw
  • Knockback strength reduced 25%

BUG FIXES

General
  • Fixed a bug that caused player ragdoll models to fall through the terrain when skipping the kill camera
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Bounty Hunter game mode to collapse too early
Maps

Junkertown

  • Fixed a bug that allowed Tracer to escape map geometry in a specific location

That’s about it for this patch. Once we get news for the next event for the game or the next title update, we’ll let our readers know.

Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer Debuts Online. Get Over Here!

It’s time to let out that familiar battle cry and shout to the heavens a legendary tournament’s name, as Warner Bros. has unleashed the first full trailer for Mortal Kombat — the new reboot film directed by Simon McQuoid and featuring an impressive cast that includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Lewis Tan, Chin Han, Jessica McNamee, and Tadanobu Asano.

Check out the outstanding trailer in all its glory below.

Based on the iconic fighting game series of the same name created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, Mortal Kombat is the newest adaptation of the original 1992 fighting game’s story — which introduces a new character named Cole Young to the MK saga and is played by actor Lewis Tan.

Here’s the press release info on the film and its overview.

Inspired by the blockbuster video game franchise, which most recently enjoyed the most successful video game launch in its history with Mortal Kombat 11, “Mortal Kombat” features MMA fighter Cole Young, a brand new character to the Mortal Kombat universe, played by Lewis Tan (“Deadpool 2,” Netflix’s “Wu Assassins”).

In the film, Cole is unaware of his heritage, and why he is being hunted by Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung’s best warrior, Sub-Zero. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Once he is brought to the temple of Lord Raiden, Cole begins his training with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano. Soon he will stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe.

If you missed it, check out Scorpion actor Hiroyuki Sanada talk about his role in the film.

Mortal Kombat will hit selected theaters and HBO Max on April 16.

Bungie to Expand Destiny Universe Into “Additional Media,” Announces Studio Expansion & First International Office

It looks like the Destiny universe will soon transcend beyond games! In a new press release by Bungie where it announced the studio’s expansion, the studio mentioned it has hired key personnel to oversee the franchise’s expansion into “additional media.”

To expand the Destiny IP and bring new stories and experiences to their highly engaged community, Bungie appointed Mark Noseworthy (Vice President, Destiny Universe) and Luke Smith (Executive Creative Director, Destiny Universe) to oversee and prepare for the expansion of the Destiny Universe into additional media. Justin Truman (General Manager, Destiny 2) takes over the successful development leadership of Destiny 2.

No word on whether this means a Destiny animated show, a Netflix series or something else.

Also announced in the same press release is that the studio is expanding! Not only will the studio have new digs in Fall 2022, but it is also opening its first international office in Amsterdam, which is also expected to open in 2022!

HQ Expansion, International Office Coming in 2022

In January, as part of its ongoing plan for sustainable growth, Bungie broke ground on an extensive expansion and redesign of its worldwide headquarters. Estimated to be complete in Fall 2022, this project will increase Bungie’s HQ footprint from 84,000 sq. ft. to more than 208,000 sq. ft. In addition to building state-of-the-art facilities to support the growth and development of their talented employees, one of the primary drivers of Bungie’s expansion is to increase the commitment to the long-term development of Destiny 2, tell new stories in the Destiny Universe, and create entirely new worlds in to-be-announced IPs. The new facility will include a reimagining of its Bellevue, WA-based studio space to support multiple project teams, including those outside of the Destiny Universe. Designed by award-winning architect NBBJ, the new HQ is centered on collaborative “neighborhoods” built to support the spirit of deeply integrated creative collaboration that defines Bungie’s success and a hybrid workforce of both remote and on-site staff.

In 2022, Bungie will open its first international office in Amsterdam. This office space represents Bungie’s developing global business and will be home to the company’s growing Publishing and Marketing divisions, ensuring Bungie’s ongoing commitment to unify and expand on their passionate player community all over the world.

It seems the house of Destiny is reaping the success of the looter shooter and we can’t wait to see what’s coming next.

Mortal Kombat Movie Star Hiroyuki Sanada Talks About Playing Scorpion

One of the most prolific Japanese Hollywood actors is bringing one of the most iconic fighting game characters to life, as Mortal Kombat movie star Hiroyuki Sanada had an interview with Entertainment Weekly  talking about playing the spear wielding undead ninja fighter of the series, Scorpion.

A motion poster depicting the actor in the full flaming ninja attire below.

https://twitter.com/MKMovie/status/1362073068651372548

Speaking about the role, the 60 year old actor admitted that he was he felt intimidated playing the role of the specter from hell formerly known as Hanzo Hisashi.

“This was my first time playing a famous game character,” the actor says. “Everyone knows his weapons and style. So, I felt a lot of pressure.”

Beginning acting at a young age, Sanada trained in martial arts actor Sonny Chiba’s Japan Action Club. Through his mentor, he established friendships with other legendary Hollywood stars like Michelle Yeoh and Jacky Chan — whom he would go on to star alongside in future films. Some of his most famous films to date are The Twilight Samurai, the original Ringu, and alongside Tom Cruise in the 2003 film The Last Samurai. Sanada would also appear in Marvel Movies — first as Shingen Yashida in The Wolverine and as the Japanese gangster Akihiko in Avengers: Endgame.

In bringing his character to life in the opening sequence where Hanzo faces off against the future Sub-Zero Bi-Han, Sanada strove to make the fight feel authentic.

“I discussed the fighting style with the choreographer and the stunt team and just jumped into rehearsal,” he says. “I tried to create an original style. Since Hanzo Hasashi is a character of Japanese descent, I tried to make authentic movements.”

Of course, the one thing everyone wanted to hear was Scorpion’s signature phrases while performing his spear move, and Sanada gleefully recounted how his colleagues reacted.

“He has two famous words, a punchline or something, that I really enjoyed,” Sanada says. Those would be “Come here!” the phrase Scorpion often shouts across the Mortal Kombat games as his piercing whip launches and hooks onto an opponent. Sometimes he substitutes “Get over here!”

“When I performed that signature move with the words in the rehearsal on set for the first time, I had a great reaction from the cast and crew,” Sanada recalls. “They said, ‘Yeah! I’ve waited for this moment.’ Then I realized how popular this move is.”

We’ll be seeing that action first hand when the MK Movie trailer debuts later. In the meantime, check out the Sub-Zero poster if you haven’t yet here.

The Mortal Kombat Movie will debut in selected theaters and HBO Max on April 18.

Following news yesterday that hit party/battle royale game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is headed to the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft has today announced that the title will be hitting Xbox platforms this summer — which shouldn’t shock anyone given the previous leak.

No official release date just yet, but Fall Guys is confirmed to be hitting the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Here’s how Joe Walsh, Lead Designer at Mediatonic described Fall Guys’ gameplay:

To the uninitiated, Fall Guys is a massively-multiplayer “bumble royale,” where eager beans compete through Rounds of escalating chaos until just one victor remains. Set in the hyper-colorful Blunderdome, you’re tasked with tackling oodles of treacherous arenas, with each qualification bringing you one step closer to the coveted Crown.

Fall Guys has been the surprise hit of 2020, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, go read our review and see why we’re suckers for the beanie family.
