Report: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Patch Frame Rate Issues Surface, Affects Multiple Platforms

Following yesterday’s (or today, depending on where you are in the world) roll out of the Season 2 patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it looks like a lot (and I mean, A LOT) of gamers are experiencing Black Ops Cold War Season 2 patch frame rate issues/drops!

The Black Ops Cold War subreddit has literally over a dozen threads about the problem, and it isn’t just for one specific platform (previously, Xbox owners got the short end of the stic on this), but it seems to affect the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5! and even PC We here at MP1st tried it out ourselves, and yes, we noticed the frame rate issues as well playing the game on PS5.

Here are some of the threads that surfaced on Reddit regarding the Black Ops Cold War frame rate issues that started with the Season 2 update:

And the list goes on! Note that these are just the threads started by players, and each thread has multiple people commenting on how they are experiencing the exact same thing!

Is there a fix for the Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Patch Frame Rate Issues?

We did find a fix though! Well a potential one for next-gen consoles.  Disabling ray tracing on next-gen consoles seem to fix this issue! That said, ray tracing is one of the main features of the next-gen version of Black Ops Cold War, so it is a bit annoying that you need to turn it off in order to play it normally. That said, this isn’t an official fix, so if it doesn’t work for you, don’t blame us.

We’ve contacted Activision and will update the post if we hear anything back.

Treyarch has issued a tweet acknowledging the situation and mentions that a patch is on the way to fix it.

Treyarch has rolled out the fix for the frame rate issue though it looks like it’s just for PlayStation plaforms for now. Details for that here.

How to Play Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak Early

Season 2 of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War isn’t set to go live until later today, however, a very simply trick allows you to start playing some of its content a bit early. Here’s how to play Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak early!

For disc-based players and digital owners be sure you have the latest Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War update 1.12 installed otherwise this method will not work as the content will not be downloaded.

Step 1: For digital owners, be sure you go online prior to verify your game license. If your console isn’t the primary system then you will have roughly 15-30 minutes of playtime before you need to verify the license again.

Step 2: Disable internet/unplug ethernet cable – In order for this trick to work you will need to be offline. This meaning you won’t be able to play Outbreak with any friends unless you LAN play. To turn off your internet on the PS5 or PS4, simply navigate to the system settings and locate Network settings. Select it, then select settings where you will see a connect to internet toggle that can be switched off. If you are hardwired via ethernet cable you can also just unplug the cable.

Step 3: Boot the game now and launch zombies. From here create your own match and then change the game mode to “Outbreak”. The game will automatically change the map.

Step 4: That’s it, you can now launch the game and enjoy the new Zombie mode!

How to Play Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak Early on Xbox

Step 1: The exact same method as PlayStation. Navigate to your console’s settings and locate Network. From here you can disable the wi-fi in order to play offline. Be sure your console is the home console in order to e able to play offline. If you need instructions for that, follow this link: How to designate a home Xbox.

Step 2: Boot the game now and launch zombies. From here create your own match and then change the game mode to “Outbreak”. The game will automatically change the map.

Step 3: That’s it, you can now launch the game and enjoy the new Zombie mode!

Unfortunately the above method does not work and as of right now there are no known ways to play the mode on PC early. We’ll be sure to update this post if anything does surface, but for now, PC players will need to wait for the official season 2 start time. 

And that’s how you can Play Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak early! Not bad, though again you’ll end up being solo. In the very least,  this method will give you a small taste at what to expect once it is live for the multiplayer experience!

While Fortnite players just got an unannounced patch released for the game last week for fixes, Epic Games has rolled out the new Fortnite update 3.06 Feb. 24 patch (it’s PS5 version 01.000.016), and this is again for a bunch of fixes. Head on below for details.

Here’s what got fixed according to Epic Games:

We’ve released a maintenance patch on Android to address the issue preventing players from purchasing the same amount of V-Bucks through the Samsung Store twice in a row. Currently available to download.

This patch also provides a fix for the “Failed to query for Tournament Rules” error. We’ll provide an update when the fix is released for all remaining platforms.

This patch is now available to download on all remaining platforms.

In addition to that, a hotfix was deployed yesterday as well! Here’s what was in it:

The Flint-Knock heads back to the vault, but something handy took its place this week.

New LTM later this week: Comeback Squads. Every life your loot gets better, but you have limited respawns!

Dirt 5 Update 3.01 Squeaks Out for Fixes

While Dirt 5 racing fans just got a big update earlier this week for the Energy Content drop and other free stuff, Codemasters has released the Dirt 5 update 3.01 patch exclusively for PlayStation platforms.

Yep, this patch is for the PS4 and PS5, and unfortunately, does not fix the crashing issue on the PS5 version.

Dying Light Update 1.32 Feb, 24 (Enhanced Edition 1.25) Brings New Content for 6th Anniversary; New Docket Code Out (Update)

Following Dying Light’s update earlier this month for the new vikings content, Techland has today released the Dying Light update 1.32 February 24 (Enhanced Edition version 1.25) patch, and this brings in new content as well, and what we presume is data for the game’s 6th anniversary celebration which was announced earlier.

Here’s what’s new per the Update History of the PS4:

* Added new weapons and blueprints
* Added new outfits
* New type of live event added
* Minor bug fixes

That “new type of live event” is something which we assume will be announced later today, and will tie in to the game’s 6th year anniversary. Once Techland releases more details, we’ll let our readers know.

Also of note, there is a new docket code that can be used for some sweet gear (thanks, Reddit)! The new code is “VALHALLA” and you can redeem it in the official dockets website. If you’re not familiar with how it works, register an account at the dockets website, link the platform where you have Dying Light available, redeem the code and that’s it! It sometimes takes a few days before the item pops up, so don’t get antsy when you don’t get it right away.

Studio Wildcard has released the Ark Surival Evolved update 2.49 Feb. 24 patch, and it includes some various fixes. Listed below are the patch notes for each platform (some changes are exclusive to that platform).

  • Can no longer ride unconscious Stego
  • Fixed various map issues related to volumes and borders
  • Ziplines will now check to see whether a character can actually fit into a space before allowing them to attach to the zipline
  • Genesis Chronicles IV (Notes 16 – 20 have been added with the TEK Federation Gloves cosmetic)

PC:

  • Fixed a client crash caused by highlighting/mousing over cryopods

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Update Now Live, Death Machine Usable Now (Update)

With Treyarch’s rolling patch deployment for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the data file s now available on all platforms! Note that while the Black Ops Cold War Season 2 update is now out, the actual new content can only be accessed by tomorrow (save for one new item that’s available now).

Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.63 Drifts Out (Update)

Polyphony Digital has released the Gran Turismo Sport update 1.63 right on time with the scheduled maintenance. This GT Sport patch clocks in at just 170MB and given Polyphony Digital has not announced anything major about it, don’t exepct any big.

Main Features Implemented

1. Penalties
– Addressed an issue where minor collisions resulted in penalties.
– Adjusted an algorithm to decrease the number of penalties issued when the internet connection environment is poor.

2. Sport Mode
– The number of regions for the Manufacturer Series has been changed from five to three. The regions now consist of the Europe/Middle East/Africa; the Americas, and Asia-Oceania. The Nations Cup will continue to be hosted in five regions. For more detail, visit Manufacturer Series Matchmaking Update Notice.

Other Improvements and Adjustments

– Recalculated the time loss for pitstops on various tracks.
– Adjusted the point of full brake application for the Logitech G923 Racing Wheel set.
– Various other issues have been addressed.

Stardew Valley Update 1.56 Released

It looks like ConcernedApe has released yet another Stardew Valley patch which makes it a new patch every week since the big 1.5 update came out. The Stardew Valley update 1.56 patch is out, and it seems to be for a few fixes once again.

Update: Notes from the PS4 logs have been added!

  • Fixed shake on stones not broken by Pickaxe.
  • Fixed random drop rate on Mummified Bat.

Original Story:

No official patch notes has been released so far, but ConcernedApe has announced the following:

Update: Switch patch for the blue floor bug and zoom/tile offset issue is in the approval process, and will be out as soon as possible. There will also be another round of patches on all consoles for a few other bugs, including the shaking stones and the mummified bat issue

No idea yet if this “another round of patches” means this patch or yet another one (certification and all that causes delays). Once we know more, we’ll update the post.

Available from Lord Saladin:

Lord Saladin oversees the Iron Banner. He appears in the tower, up the stairs to the right of the Gunsmith to bring Guardians Iron Banner based Weapons and Armor.

Faction Rewards

Turn in 20 Tokens to get an Iron Banner engram, which contains randomly rolled weapons. After you’ve finished the seasonal quest, you can also receive randomly rolled armor.

New PlayStation State of Play Set for Feb. 25, Will Include New Game Announcements

It’s been a rather busy day for PlayStation fans, as not only did we get a new PS5 VR announcement today, but Sony has announced that a new PlayStation State of Play is locked for this Thursday, Feb. 25!

Sony’s Sid Shuman (Sony Interactive Entertainment Senior Director) states that it will be roughly 30 minutes long, and will feature “new game announcements and updates on some of the third-party titles and indie titles” gamers saw in June’s PS5 showcase.

The show starts at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET/10 p.m. GMT/6 a.m. HKT. It’ll be broadcast on both YouTube, and Twitch.

Chances are, Sony will touch upon Gran Turismo 7’s delay, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see God of War Ragnarok delayed to 2022 or beyond, either.

Nightwave Arcane Helmet Clarification:
Nora Night’s latest Cred Offerings include the Arcane Scorpion Helmet Blueprint, a long retired item since Hotfix 13.2.3. This item was actually meant to be a brand new Operator cosmetic, Operator Wolf Hood, but the backend data got a little switched around. The Arcane Scorpion Helmet Blueprint will run it’s store life span, at which time the new Operator Wolf Hood will take its intended place in future rotations.

Nihil Boss Fight Rerun
Are you prepared to face Nihil once again, Tenno?

Nora Night’s Cred Offerings will provide both the Nihil Key and Oubliette required to face off against Nihil. Once you have acquired both, interact with the Oubliette Decoration to fight.

The Nihil Key grants you one fight against Nihil, at which you’ll need to acquire another Key to go again. Nora Night will offer the Nihil Key in her Cred Offerings periodically.

For those who did not originally fight Nihil during Glassmaker, using this Key route will grant you the Vitrica heavy blade. Tenno who have already acquired the Vitrica can enjoy an End of Mission Riven Mod reward!

Days Gone PC Version Announced, Out This Spring

Sony is continuing its PlayStation to PC ports, as a Days Gone PC version has been announced today!

This news first surfaced as part of an interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Jim Ryan by GQ. Fortunately, the official Bend Studio Twitter account announced this as well with a .gif that’s right on point:

Days Gone is coming to PC this spring! Yep, that’s about all the news we know so far. Chances are, the PC version will get additional ways to customize the visuals and all that.

If you haven’t played it yet, Days Gone was released in 2019, and was a surprisingly well developed action game. We gave it a good score and said the following in our review:

It’s apparent how much love and care Bend Studios has put into Days Gone to bring players into their new vision of the apocalypse. The game does have a slow burn and it’s unfortunate that some players might not see it to the end. Those that stick with Deacon St John though will experience an escalating story, gameplay elements, tension, and emotion as it all builds to an exciting conclusion. Regardless of the technically issues, Days Gone kept me absolutely captivated from start to finish. It’s THE zombie style open world game I’ve always dreamed of, and I can’t think of any better endorsement than that.

Once we know more details, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Battle Pass Trailer and Overview

With tomorrow’s release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, not only are gamers getting new content, but a new Battle Pass is also incoming as well. A new trailer and details on the Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Battle Pass are available below.

Aside from the trailer, there’s also a breakdown and overview of the Battle Pass.

Tier 0 – Instantly Unlock Naga, Skins for Park, and More

New Operator – Naga: The Laos-born ex-warlord whose supply lines made him an ally of Perseus, Naga is prepared to show off his brutality within Black Ops Cold War and Warzone after he is unlocked at Tier 0. This unlock comes with his “Viper” Operator Skin, a combat uniform he wears while tracking his eventual prey like the slithering beast whose maw inspires his bandana.

Complete Naga’s Operator Missions to receive XP rewards, cosmetic items for your player profile, and four additional Legendary skins: “Cobalt,” “Ashen Scale,” “Crimson Code,” and “Rattlesnake,” each inspired by another deadly snake that is as lethal as this ruthless Operator.

Park Operator Skin and Mission: As NATO prepares to comb through the Golden Triangle for Adler and Nova 6, Park gets herself prepared for the harsh tropical conditions with her “Survivor” Skin. This unlock also comes with an Operator Mission. Complete all four of its objectives to earn the “Autumn” skin that’s fit for the fall bloom, the “Solstice” Skin with red and white accents, an Emblem, a Calling Card, and additional XP.

Wellington Safari Watch: Chart a course for victory with this practical, yet stylish aviator timepiece, instantly unlocked at Tier 0. You’ll never lose track of time in uncharted territory thanks to this watch being synched to the real-world clock, though you may still want to keep track of those squadmates if you want to get out alive.

Seasonal XP Boost: Purchase the Season Two Battle Pass and enjoy a 10% increase in all XP earned during the season.

Unlocking this Mixtape also makes these four tracks available in the Music Player in Black Ops Cold War, so you can queue up for your next Multiplayer or League Play match with “Adrenaline” in your ears, or vibe to the classic “Damned 100AE” between high-round runs of Zombies.
  • PLUS, the “Rock Pack II” and “Pop Pack” at Tiers 72 and 94: Some things are best left to be listened to, although we know how much you want to know more, more, more about these packs. All we can say for now is that when Season Two starts, hurry to unlock these two War Track packs; they’re waiting there for you.

Tier 95 – An Ultra Reactive Weapon Blueprint

The Season Two Battle Pass marks the continued evolution of this collection of content with the “Vulture Exo,” an Ultra-rarity Reactive Weapon Blueprint.

A concept first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, this Reactive property lets Operators display their skill in real-time by evolving their weapon’s appearance with kills during a match. For example, the “Vulture Exo” pulsates a green energy across the skeleton of a bird that wraps around the entire weapon. As an Operator earns kills, this energy shifts from blue to orange and eventually red, signifying how much of a hot hand they have in the match.

Along with this Reactive property, the “Vulture Exo” also comes with five pre-configured attachments: the Hawksmoor Optic, the Bullet Velocity-doubling 19.5” Liberator Barrel, Foregrip, Spetsnaz 50 Rnd Magazine, and the KGB Skeletal Stock for better Sprint to Fire and Aim Walking Movement Speeds.

Tier 100 – A War Chest of Rewards for Battle Pass Completion:

Fit for the most fearsome Operators, the spoils of Tier 100 are truly Legendary:

“Warlord” Naga Skin and Operator Mission: This combination of a ceremonial mask and a gold-trimmed leather jacket signifies Naga’s career as a most-wanted warlord. Strike terror into your opposition with this skin, and complete the included Operator Mission to unlock two more – the red “River Wraith” and the tiger-inspired “Rare Breed” – among other rewards.

“Poison Dart” Legendary SMG Blueprint: Based on the new SMG within the Season Two Battle Pass, the “Poison Dart” Blueprint comes with five attachments that make the weapon as swift and silent as the amphibian it bases its design on. This includes the Vandal Speed Loader, which brings the weapon’s reload speeds down to just over a second.

There’s also the COD Points included in every Battle Pass! Complete this season’s Battle Pass and you’l have enough to buy the next one!

Speaking of Battle Passes, MP1st has a few surprises in store for that soon.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Delayed Indefinitely, New Studio Handling Development for the Sequel

Those into the World of Darkness series and its brand of Vampire: The Masquerade table-top games will be pretty disappointed if they’re waiting on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, as publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that they have delayed the game indefinitely and a new studio will be handling development on the sequel.

In its 2020 year-end report posted in its official website, Paradox said the game won’t make its 2021 release date — and Hardsuit Labs will no longer be leading development for the game.

At the same time as we have had a record year, the ongoing corona pandemic has, as mentioned before, had a mixed effect on our business. The inflow of new players was during the beginning of the pandemic high, which initially had a positive impact on our sales, but the increased player base also creates a long-term remaining value. At the same time, our studio organization in particular has found it difficult to maintain the usual production pace. We have therefore chosen to postpone several planned but not communicated releases to ensure the right quality, which postpones the release dates during 2021. For us, it is crucial that our games are well received by the players, so we always choose, if possible, to give our development studios the time required to achieve our quality goals.

This also affects the development of Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, where we communicated a delay during the third quarter of 2020. We have now chosen to postpone the release of the game further, and we will not be launching the game in 2021. We have also decided that Hardsuit Labs will no longer be leading the development of Bloodlines 2, and we have started a collaboration with a new studio partner to finish work on the game. This has been a difficult decision, but we are convinced that it is the right way forward to do the game justice.

We previously reported that Vampire: The Masquerade Battle Royale was announced and set for release by Sharkmob.

Destiny 2 Update 2.12 February 23 (PS5 1.007) Released for Hotfix 3.1.0.1 (Update)

While its initial release has been delayed a week, Bungie has today rolled out the Destiny 2 update 2.12 February 23 patch (on PS5 as 1.007 version) or what hte studio calls hotfix 3.1.0.1!

Destiny 2 Update 2.12 February 23 (PS5 1.007) Patch Notes for Hotfix 3.1.0.1:

ACTIVITIES 

BATTLEGROUNDS:

  • Fixed an issue where Umbral Engrams could spawn under the ground when the engram inventory is full.
  • Fixed an issue where generators could not be destroyed when fireteam members or combatants were within close proximity.
  • Fixed an issue where players were respawning in the Land Tank after disconnects and becoming trapped.

STRIKES:

  • Fixed an issue where players could not access Fallen S.A.B.E.R. in the Strikes Playlist or Direct Launch Node.

UI 

  • Fixed formatting of Seasonal Rank strings where text was overlapping.
  • Fixed and issue where players could temporarily soft-lock the game and exit vender performances in the H.E.L.M.
  • Changed XP reward icon on the Quest Details screen to match XP icon used throughout the rest of the game.

GAMEPLAY AND INVESTMENT 

EVERVERSE

  • Fixed an issue where Lucent Night ornaments disappeared from the armor’s universal ornament section after unequipping.
  • Icon for Anarchy’s Uniocracy ornament now more accurately reflects the ornament’s actual appearance.
  • Fixed an issue where the Thalia’s Reach ornament for Liar’s Handshake disappeared when unequipping it.
  • Fixed an issue where The Fourteenth Anamnesis ornament showed that it could be applied to Khepri’s Sting instead of the Helm of Saint-14.
  • Fixed an issue where Mantle of Remembrance ornament indicated it was for Aeon Swift instead of Shinobu’s Vow.
  • Fixed an issue where the Caduceus Warlock ornament showed that it could be applied to Aeon Soul instead of Ophidian Aspect.
  • Fixed an issue where the Bump and Run sparrow was missing like… most of it.
  • Fixed an issue where players were receiving more Bright Engrams than intended after reaching Season Pass rank 100.
  • Fixed an issue where Core Ritual (Gambit, Crucible, and Vanguard) Weekly Bounty Challenge would sometimes not reward Bright Dust.
    • Any players affected by this will receive all missing Bright Dust in the future. An in-game message will confirm when your Bright Dust has been delivered

COLLECTIONS

  • Fixed an issue where the War Weary shader was not appearing in Collections.
  • Fixed an where the Salvagers Salvo Seasonal Grenade Launcher could not be reclaimed from Collections.
  • Fixed an issue where the Contender’s Banner and The Next Chapter emblems were displaying the same art.
  • Fixed an issue where players could retrieve the Season of the Chosen ritual emblems from Collections without completing the steps to earn them.

MODS

  • Fixed an issue where some mods were removed if their artifact version was equipped during the Season change.

FRAGMENTS

  • Fixed an issue where Whisper of Chains was not properly granting damage reduction when near frozen enemies.

BOUNTIES, PURSUITS, CHALLENGES

  • Fixed an issue where players could continue to earn additional Hawkmoons if they didn’t pick up the quest and join others.
  • Fixed an issue where a Proving Rune’s description from the War Table is different than the actual Rune you get.
  • Reduced the number of wins required for the Legendary Glory Triumph from 50 to 5 to be aligned with the same requirement from Season of the Hunt.
  • Fixed an issue where some Weekly Challenge engrams were dropping at a higher Power than intended.
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to reset their Valor after 4 resets.
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to reset their Infamy after 1 reset.
  • Fixed an issue where players were incorrectly earning Powerful rewards after 3 Valor resets.

GENERAL  

  • Fixed an issue where audio was out of sync with the Season of the Chosen opening cinematic.
  • Fixed an issue where several vendor tooltips were incorrect.
  • Fixed a Season of the Chosen purchase information screen which had an incorrect translation in Brazilian Portuguese.

New Play at Home Initiative Announced, Ratchet & Clank PS4 Initial Free Game

Last year, the entire world was in turmoil due to the COVID-19 pandemic that’s still plaguing most countries today. To ease lockdown restrictions, Sony launced the Play at Home program that gave players free games! Sony has announced the new Play at Home initiative today, and once again, gamers are getting free stuff!

This year’s Play at Home initative starts on March 1 until June. Here’s the initial batch of free stuff gamers are getting:

Starting March 1, 2021

  • PlayStation and Insomniac Games will make Ratchet & Clank PS4 available for free download for a limited time through PlayStation Store from March 1 at 8pm PST / March 2 at 4am GMT / 5am CET to March 31, 2021 at 8pm PDT* / April 1 at 4am BST / 5am CEST. Once you redeem the game, it will be yours to keep. This 2016 PS4 action-adventure hit from Insomniac Games revisits the origin stories of these beloved PlayStation heroes and features a great mix of outrageous combat and comedy.

Starting March 25, 2021

  • Our friends at Funimation (a joint venture of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex of Japan) are kicking in a very special offer: extended access for new subscribers to Funimation or Wakanim in the countries they are available **. Funimation is an anime-focused subscription service and Wakanim is  Funimation’s European division. While there will be additional details to follow, this offer is only available to our community who sign up for and download the Funimation (in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand) or Wakanim apps (in most of Western and Northern Europe) starting on March 25 for a limited time.

According to Sony, this is just the beginning of what’s in store for this new Play at Home program, and from the looks of it, games aren’t the only thing gamers are getting.

While I live getting free games, let’s hope this is the last Play at Home program that’s necessitated by the pandemic. Let’s hope that by next year, Sony is giving out free games just because they want to, and not because we’re forced to stay inside our homes.
