Dragon Ball FighterZ SSB Vegeta Gameplay Trailer Revealed and It Hits Hard

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ, and it’s all about the Prince of all Saiyans, Vegeta. While Vegeta was one of the original announced characters for the game, this trailer focuses on his Super Saiyan Blue form.

You can check out the fast paced Dragon Ball FighterZ SSB Vegeta video below:

From the very brief video,  the game looks fantastic, which everyone knows by now. However, the game isn’t just pretty as from my short time playing it during closed beta. It was also a lot of fun to play as well.

In other Dragon Ball FighterZ news, feel free to catch up on the other recently released videos for the title that go over the abilities of Beerus, Goku Black and Hit.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to arrive on January 26 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Peripheral Maker Mad Catz Is Now Back Under New Management, New Range of Products to Be Revealed at CES

Early in 2017, peripheral maker Mad Catz announced that it was closing its doors after more than 25 years in business, due to massive company losses since it hedged its bet on Rock Band 4 — which it published and manufactured  — and it didn’t pay off.

Well, now, the company is back! Major difference though, as the new Mad Catz is under new management, and a new range of “high quality” gaming products. First off, Mad Catz headquarters is now in Hong Kong. Selena Chang, Director of Sales and Operations, had this to say, We couldn’t be more excited than to begin 2018 by announcing the return of Mad Catz to the global gaming arena. Mad Catz has been a permanent fixture in gaming for almost three decades and we firmly believe it’s best days lie ahead.”

Mad Catz’s official reveal of the company’s new product line will be at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 9 to January 12, 2018.

Some of the products set to be unveiled are a new R.A.T. mice, S.T.R.I.K.E. keyboards, F.R.E.Q. gaming headsets, and G.L.I.D.E. gaming surfaces.

Once we know more about Mad Catz’s new line of gaming hardware, we’ll let our readers know ASAP. Let’s hope they’re of better build this time.

Congrats on the rebirth, Mad Catz!

Burnout Paradise HD Remaster Coming to PS4 in Japan This March

Just last month, we reported that a Brazilian retailer listed a “Burnout Paradise HD Remaster” in its database. It’s all fine and dandy, except the actual game is not real — or hasn’t been announced just yet.

Well, it seems that bit of rumor is true, as a Burnout Paradise PS4 release is indeed coming true! According to @Renka_schedule (translated by the ever-reliable Gematsu), Burnout Paradise HD Remaster (tentative title) will race out in Japan this March 16, 2018! It’s not known whether the Xbox One or PC will also see the remastered racer.

Those unfamiliar with the game, Burnout Paradise was released in 2008 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and was an open-world racer with arcade elements (no sim stuff here, folks!), and was developed by the brilliant minds over at Criterion Games.

Will this Burnout Paradise remaster come out for North America or other territories? We’ve asked EA for a statement and will update the post if we get a response.

US Army Making a Game to Train Teachers to Respond to School Shootings

It’s an unfortunate case that mass shootings in US schools have been so rampant that now the US Army is making a game to help teachers react and respond when it happens.

The US Army is collaborating with the department of Homeland Security, and the Cole Engineering Services on the game, which is based on a soldier training simulation, but is being re-purposed for school shootings, with input from the mother of a victim of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Check out the “gameplay” video below.

According to Tamara Griffith of the Army Research Lab, “The more experience you have, the better your chances of survival. This allows you to practice, and have multiple experiences, to know what works and what doesn’t work.”

The simulation is expected to launch in spring of this year.

Let’s hope this helps teachers cope with the school shootings. Or better yet, let’s hope there’s no mass shootings in schools  — or anywhere else — at all.

Do you think this will help teachers in what to do when school shootings happen? If not, what would be a better training aid in your opinion?

Call of Duty: WWII Possible Upcoming Weapon Tweaks Revealed by Sledgehammer Games

While we already received our first-ever Call of Duty: WWII game update earlier in the week to take out the Winter Siege event, most gamers (including me), might be wondering what the next update will bring in terms of weapon balancing.

If you’re one of the many curious, then you’re in luck! Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey has gone on Reddit to talk about the potential Call of Duty: WWII nerfs and buffs! Note that these are potential buffs, and are in no way guaranteed.

Post Winter Siege Weapon Tuning Thoughts, CODWWII
byu/Mcondrey inWWII

If you can’t read the embedded Reddit post, it reads:

Hey all,

It was great playing with you throughout the Christmas / NY break and during Winter Siege event! The MP team was very active online and got an incredible amount of first hand insights. We also pulled a ton of match data to see how the community was playing across the globe.

Weapon tuning is always an active topic in the community, and here on reddit. We wanted to give you an early look at some of the considerations we’re making for a tuning change before The Resistance event goes live in a couple weeks. It’s a good chance for a dialog on this, and we’re big proponents of constructive debate. Remember, we’re looking at a massive amount data across every region, game mode, and play style. Not everyone is going to agree on every change (or lack thereof) we make, but if we all approach it with positive intent for the most balanced experience for all players, then the community wins.

Here’s what’s top of mind currently, though we haven’t committed to any of them yet so let’s talk it through:

1) Kar98k. It’s currently setup to be the second most damaging sniper (to the Springfield by a small margin), but also the quickest scoping time weapon in the class. We’re considering an ADS in time nerf.

2) FG42. Did we go too far with the last fire rate nerf? Maybe. It’s a great weapon that we want to have as viable option with other ARs and SMGs. Might need to find a median between where it was, and where it is now.

3) M1Garand. Some sentiment of it being OP is mostly coming because of the kill potential at closer ranges. The difficulty of the weapon lies in its recoil when shot rapidly down range, but you don’t really feel the recoil when firing at close range due to recoil effecting range fights, and more consistent aim assist at closer ranges. May need to adjust fire rate, pull up time, and/ or reload time.

4) STG44. I love this weapon. And it’s such an iconic WWII assault rifle. It’s pretty versatile too. But it may need a slight buff to make it competitive with the BAR, Garand, and FG42 (if we buff as noted above), and viable against some of the most used SMGs.

Again, this list isn’t meant to be totally comprehensive, nor can I promise we’ll make all of these changes. We do want to hear from you on the proposals. Just please, keep it classy and constructive.

Best, Condrey

The tl;dr version? Expect buffs to the FG-42, STG-44, and nerfs to the Garand and Kar98k. Let’s hope that whenever this does come out, that chances to sprint out times are included as well.

Don’t forget, there’s double XP going on right now for both multiplayer and Zombies mode, so hop to it! What weapon changes do you want to see in Call of Duty: WWII? Share ’em in the comments.

PUBG Has a Big Problem, As This PUBG vs Fortnite vs H1Z1 Netcode Analysis Shows

Ever wondered why PUBG seems to stutter during the initial phase of the game? Or why that stutter reappears at seemingly random points during the match? Well, Battle(Non)Sense’s netcode analysis video may be of interest to you.

Battle(Non)Sense took at look at PUBG, Fortnite Battle Royale, and H1Z1 to compare and contrast their netcode. Despite being the hit sensation that it’s become, PUBG failed to impress, with incredibly inconsistent performance.

I’ll let you watch the video for the full technical analysis, and to see how Fortnite and H1Z1 stack up.

PUBG, Fortnite or H1Z1 – which has the fastest netcode? And how does PUBG perform now after it left early access? I will also share a few more details about the differences between these games, which have an impact on their network performance.

If PUBG ever hopes to be taken seriously, or be considered “eSports ready,” the developer is going to have to make significant improvements to the game’s netcode. For now, PUBG remains a very random and inconsistent title, which may be fun and addicting, but suffers from huge connection issues.

Has PUBG‘s netcode affected your enjoyment of the game? Or is it easily ignored? Let us know.

Attention PUBG Noobs: Battle Royale Trainer Is Here to Help You “Git Gud”

A tutorial mode is something that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds sorely lacks. The only way for players to “git gud” at PUBG in-game, is to grit their teeth and grind out the deaths, until they can shoot reasonably straight.

If you’re still getting your backside handed to you on the island of Erangel and the desert of Miramar, the Battle Royale Trainer could be for you.

Developed by Trickjump Games, this PC title aims to help players learn the ropes against AI opponents and targets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHm_V_tGwr0

Battle Royale Trainer lets you practice your combat skills with a wide range of weapons, scopes and attachments against AI opponents and targets, honing your skills until you can snap-shoot, control recoil and head-shot your opponents at any distance like a pro.

Battle Royale Trainer here on Steam is available for $3.99. Let me give a word of warning, however, as Steam reviews are currently “Mixed,” with many saying this title needs more polish.

What do you make of Battle Royale Trainer? Think it’s a good idea? Let us know.

Monster Hunter: World Final Beta Revealed, New Trailer Highlights Elder Dragons & More DLC Details

Capcom is opening up Monster Hunter: World for one final beta phase. All PS4 owners are invited to try the game from January 18, through to January 22. The game will then launch on January 26, for both PS4 and Xbox One.

The beta will feature new content, so experienced players have a reason to return.

In addition to the previously released Great Jagras, Anjanath and Barroth quests, players will now be able to battle against the game’s terrifying and challenging flagship monster Nergigante.

As well as the final beta reveal, Capcom has treated us to a new trailer, which focuses on the Elder Dragons. Check it out below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N57izmKkC-Y

The steel dragon Kushala Daora is a beast with a body covered in metal plates and has the power to keep hunters at bay by generating wind storms around itself. The flame king dragon Teostra is a brutal fiend that spits blazing fire and any hunter who faces this fierce and deadly monster is in danger of being engulfed in a hellish inferno. Another monster introduced in the trailer is Dodogama, a rock-eating wyvern that possesses a unique saliva that causes rock to become explosive, a hazardous mix it will spit at its foes to warn off attackers.

And finally, Capcom has offered a tease at what players can expect post-launch content to look like. The first major update will bring the fan-favorite monster “Deviljho” to the game.

Here’s what we know about the planned Monster Hunter: World DLC:

Capcom today confirmed that there are plans for post-launch support of Monster Hunter: World with regular content updates, as well as major title updates for free. The first major title update will be coming in Spring 2018 which includes the addition of the fan-favorite monster Deviljho. Players will be able to put their hunting skills to the test against this brute. The Deviljho must feed constantly and will devour anything in its way, even feeding on the largest of monsters with its massive jowls. This wild beast really is one for only the bravest of hunters to take on!

Are you excited for this PS4 and Xbox One release? Let us know.

Call of Duty: WWII Double XP Weekend Inbound, Affects Both Multiplayer and Zombies

Merely a few days after the end of the Winter Siege event, which featured numerous double XP playlists, Call of Duty: WWII players are getting another double XP boost.

Announced on Sledgehammer Games’ official Twitter, double XP will affect both multiplayer and zombies modes. It will run from today (January 5), through January 8.

While players may have gotten used to the double XP boost, the fact that the buff affects all playlists should be refreshing. (I, too, grew tired of the rotating winter maps!)

Will you be playing Call of Duty: WWII this weekend? Let us know.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, the Hardcore Kill Confirmed mode has been made permanently playable in the Hardcore playlist, the PC Winter Bribe issue has been acknowledged by Sledgehammer, and the latest update weighed in at 1.8 GB on PS4.

Overwatch Update Hits PTR With Hero Changes, Junkrat and Mercy Nerfed

Blizzard is showing no mercy for Mercy and Junkrat. Over on the Overwatch PTR, a new patch is being tested that nerfs both heroes.

The latest changes were posted on the game’s forums by principal designer Geoff Goodman:

HERO UPDATES

Junkrat

  • Concussion Mine

Will now deal less damage to targets farther away from the explosion’s center

Developer Comments: Junkrat has been enjoying the flexibility his double-charge Concussion Mine provides, but it has now become a bit too easy to throw out huge bursts damage in a large area. With this change he can still dish out similar damage but he must now be more accurate with his tosses.

Mercy

  • Valkyrie

No longer makes Resurrect instant

No longer grants a bonus charge of Resurrect

The speed boost that Guardian Angel receives has been decreased by 50%

Duration reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds

Developer Comments: Mercy’s recent Resurrect changes have helped in allowing enemies to have more counter play in dealing with her, but she was able to use Resurrect through Valkyrie enough to largely mitigate the impact of the previous changes. Additionally, we’re toning back the amount of mobility Valkyrie provides through Guardian Angel and reducing its duration to overall reduce the power of this ability.

We will likely be iterating on these changes in the coming weeks.

Blizzard is really pushing Mercy into a tight spot, and it’ll be interesting to see where the hero ends up over the next year. Could we maybe see Resurrect swapped out for a different ability? Seems extreme, I know…

In other Overwatch news, Blizzard trolled the community  with a 10-hour livestream, and a fan made an incredible map which you have to check out.

IGN Fires Editor-in-Chief Over Alleged “Misconduct”

With Hollywood being rocked by the big Harvey Weinstein controversy regarding his sexual offenses coming to light, it seems the video game industry is following suit.  One of the oldest and biggest gaming websites, IGN, has fired its editor-in-chief Steve Butts, due to an alleged “misconduct” in the workplace.

Here’s what IGN General Manager (GM) Mitch Galbraith released to the media regarding the termination (via Kotaku):

IGN initiated an investigation into alleged misconduct involving Steve Butts. As a result of the investigation, the Company has appropriately determined to part ways with Mr. Butts.

This isn’t the first time an IGN employee has been embroiled in some form of workplace controversy, as former IGN employee Kallie Plagge accused her former co-worker Vince Ingenito of sexually harassing her and another female employee during her time with IGN. The day Plagge made the accusations public, IGN’s editorial staff had several meetings to talk about the situation.

Furthermore, during one of these meetings, someone unnamed accused Butts of harassment according to a person who was in the room. No more details was shared, but that was enough for IGN to launch a full-on investigation.

Butts, according to someone familiar to what’s happening behind the scenes, has been working from home once the investigation has started, and didn’t even come to the IGN offices throughout November and December.

You can read more about what transpired here.

Smite New Conquest Map, God and More Revealed by Hi-Rez

Paladins players aren’t the only ones who have something to look forward to in the upcoming weeks, as Hi-Rez Studios’ popular third-person MOBA, Smite, has gotten quite the content reveal as well during today’s keynote at the Hi-Rez Expo event.

The studio announced what fans of the free-to-play title can expect for the final patch of the season and beyond. Among these announcements is probably the biggest and the most anticipated reveal for Smite, which is the full reveal of the Conquest map. This is something the Georgia-based studio has been teasing for the past couple of weeks.

Aside from this much anticipated reveal, Hi-Rez Studios did not stop there in terms of adding features the playerbase have been requesting. One of the most requested gods in the game is also being added with the upcoming patch. Whom you may be asking? Well, according to the recent god reveal it’s none other than Cerberus. This name might sound familiar if you happen to know a bit of mythology, as Cerberus is the three headed hound that guards the underground.

To celebrate the release of the game’s 93rd god, Hi-Rez Studios is also launching a brand new in-game event “Hades’ Ragnorok”. While not much is known about this event, it appears will come with a set of exclusive skins for god’s such as Thor and Xing Tian.

You can check out the skins below and the first look of both the new Conquest map and Cerberus:

Hi-Rez isn’t done quite yet when it comes to content the Smite playerbase can expect this year! Hi-Rez Studios have also announced two new pantheons; Slavic and Voodoo will be added to the game sometime this year.

Aside from the new Conquest map, you can expect this new content to launch in the upcoming week for PC, with the console version of this patch releasing the week after as always.

Hawken Servers to Shutdown on PC, Console Servers to Live On

Here’s another bad news for online multiplayer fans, Hawken, the free-to-play mech game, will have its servers shut down on PC; while the Hawken servers on consoles are staying up. The entire Hawken game client has been removed from Steam this January 2, 2018, which includes regular access, DLC, and other digital content.

The official Hawken Facebook page posted a letter from the studio where they thanked fans for years of support.

Pilots,

It’s been an incredible journey since the introduction of Hawken on Steam, back in 2014. The game’s success has been largely due to your continuous support. The Hawken community has been the cornerstone of this ever-evolving franchise.

After 3 great years, we are shutting down the PC Steam servers to refocus our development efforts. The PC game will officially be removed on January 2, 2018, and all DLC and purchasable content will also be unavailable starting today.

It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience working alongside such a dedicated PC player base. Your feedback and support has been invaluable to us, and the team looks forward to creating more great games based on what we’ve learned from you.

Thank you all very much for your support!

Hawken was developed by Adhesive Games (now defunct) and Reloaded Games, and published by 505 Games. It was released on PC in December 2012, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release hitting consoles in July 2016.

If you want to play Hawken, best to do it on consoles while you still can,

Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 Gets a New Patch

Here’s something interesting for the day, Star Wars Battlefront 2 (not to be confused with EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II) has just gotten a patch! Nope, I’m not kidding!

Remember when Disney brought back 2005 Battlefront 2 from the dead back in October 2017? Well, it seems they’re doing more than that, and even fixed a few things, too. Check out the complete patch notes below.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 January 3rd Update Release Notes:

Minor bug fixes and optimized performance, the most important fixes are:

  • Lobby functionality has been improved
  • Steam usernames should now display correctly
  • Ping calculations are more accurate

If you want to play some old-school Battlefront 2, then you’re in luck! The new Battlefront 2 2005 update should auto-download on Steam once you try and log on. Will Disney deliver more for it? Is this their way of testing the waters? Or they just want Star Wars fans to have an alternative to EA’s game?

Have you tried playing Battlefront 2 2005 yet? How does it hold up?

The Nintendo Switch is now the fastest-selling console of all time in the US. This information has been revealed via press release, which states that, in its first 10 months, the Switch has sold more than 4.8 million units in the US. This surpasses the Wii, which held the previous record of 4 million sold in 10 months.

Nintendo of America’s president and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime offered the following comment:

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go … Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”

Nintendo has also revealed some interesting software statistics:

In the U.S., more than 60 percent of Nintendo Switch owners have Super Mario Odyssey, and over 55 percent own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not only are these games system-sellers, but they’re also two of the highest-rated games in history. Nintendo Switch owners also possess the fun, competitive games Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 at rates of more than 50 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

This is incredible news for Nintendo!
