One of the biggest surprises at The Game Awards for fans was the announcement of Elden Ring: Nightreign, a new online cooperative game, created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin
Let’s be honest, the trailer was a bit confusing. It wasn’t clear what the gameplay would be like, how many enemies would appear, or what the plot was about. However, Dark Souls fans quickly noticed the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3, leading to a lot of questions.
Elden Ring: Nightreign Will Include Dark Souls Enemies
In an interview with Famitsu, game director Junya Ishizaki confirmed that Nightreign will feature a small number of enemies from across the Dark Souls series. This is due to the influence of the Night King, which brings chaos into the world of Nightreign. Ishizaki explained that the inclusion of these enemies is part of the game’s theme of chaos, and the game’s setting in a parallel universe allows FromSoftware to nod to its past titles.
As for gameplay, Elden Ring: Nightreign will offer eight playable characters, each with their own abilities and stories. The game will also feature a new progression system where the world changes over three virtual days. The map will shift with new events, enemies, and points of interest each time you play. Additionally, the Spectral Hawk will help players find shortcuts and improve exploration.
In other Elden Ring: Nightreign news, the developers have confirmed that the game will not support crossplay, meaning players can only play with others on the same platform. However, cross-generation play within the same console family is supported. For example, PS4 and PS5 users will be able to play together.
In case you don’t know, Elden Ring: Nightreign will launch in 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Techland is back with another patch for Dying Light 2. This time, it’s to deal with some pesky bugs that surfaced from the Winter Tales 2024 patch released last week. Console gamers will see this as Dying Light 2 update 1.61 on PS4/XB1 and version 1.061 for PS5/XSX.
Read on for the short list off fixes straight from Techland.
Fixed an issue where some Winter Boons were not reset after death and respawns.
Fixed an issue where Santa’s airdrop gear would go missing from the inventory if the player picked it up while they were being attacked.
Fixed various text and localization issues.
Fixed an issue where the Coal Mine lacked proper visuals in its armed state.
Fixed an issue where kicking armored Infected triggered the wrong SFX.
Unless Techland has something more planned before the year is over, we’re not expecting another patch to be released this year outside of fixes. If you notice any bugs
In an effort to regain player trust following several financial setbacks and the delay of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows to 2025, Ubisoft is looking for ways to reconnect with its fanbase. Rather than focusing on new releases, the company has turned to adding achievements to some of its older games, including Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Black Flag.
Ubisoft Adds Steam Achievements to Several Older Titles
These updates aim to bring new content to long-established games. However, there is a catch: if you have already completed the game, Steam will automatically sync the achievements from your Ubisoft Connect account. But if you’re starting fresh, you won’t be able to earn all the achievements again, as the multiplayer servers for some of these games have been shut down, making it impossible to unlock related achievements.
In a related move, a rumor has surfaced that Ubisoft has reportedly asked Valve to hide or remove concurrent player count data for its games on Steam. According to the rumor, the company is unhappy that gamers, the press, and investors can easily access this data, which shows the poor performance of its titles. Ubisoft is said to want this information hidden to better manage the public perception of its games, especially with tools like SteamDB tracking simultaneous player counts.

While Capcom has already released the PS5 Pro patch for Resident Evil Village last month, a new download is available today — at least on the PS5 version. We can confirm that Resident Evil Village update 1.220 is now live on the PS5 version, and upon our checking, the PS4 version didn’t get an update.
Resident Evil Village Gets Mysterious Update 1.220
So far, Capcom has not said anything about today’s patch just yet, though we’re not surprised by this. There doesn’t seem to be any gameplay-related changes as well, or this would be rolled out across all platforms.
Most likely, this is a patch that targets PS5 Pro-related issues. We’ve reached out to Capcom and asked what this patch does, and if we get a reply, we’ll update the article to reflect the company’s answer.
RE Village isn’t the only Resident Evil game that got a surprise patch, Resident Evil 4 also got one last week just for the PS5, and Capcom didn’t clarify what was in it.
If you notice any fixes or changes, leave a comment below and let us know.

EA has released NHL 25 update 1.031 on consoles, and this is a minor patch for the hockey sim that aims to resolve desync issues, Franchise Mode bugs. While there’s no new content or features in this download, it should still be welcomed by players given thee fixes it implements.

If EA releases another patch for the game, we’ll let our readers know. There was a bigger patch for version 1.30 released earlier this month, and you can read about it here.
While we just got the huge 1.08 patch for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered last week that brought in a new transmog outfit feature and other fixes, it also brought in a bug for color blind mode. On December 16, Nixxes Software released Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered update 1.008.001 on PS5, and this is to fix that specific issue affecting the Japanese version of the game.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Update 1.008.001 Released as a Hotfix for Purple Grass Bug
According to Nixxes, “This update fixes a bug in the Japanese version of the game that caused tall grass to appear as purple when Color Blind mode is turned off.”
Not only is this bug only visible on color blind mode on, but it’s also for the Japanese version of the game. Talk about being specific, huh? That said, a bug is a bug, and thankfully, the developers are quick to address these issues, be they big or small.
Will we get another patch before the year is over? I don’t think we will, though if we do get one, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
In news about the franchise’s future, while Sony hasn’t confirmed whether we’ll see Horizon 3, the long0-rumored multiplayer spin-off project for the franchise is said to be targeting a release in 2025.
For more on Horizon, make sure to stay locked in to MP1st.
Just last week, Saber Interactive released the big Obelisk update for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, and this introduced a new Operation, gameplay balancing changes and a lot more. Unfortunately, it also brought with it bugs that affected gameplay. Today, Saber rolled out Space Marine 2 update 1.005.001, which is tagged as Hotfix 5.1 by the studio.
While a minor patch, this update fixes the perfect parry window for fencing melee weapons that got broken with the last update. There are also various bug fixes included, and of course, crash fixes, too.
Space Marine 2’s Perfect Parry Issue Is Now Fixed in Update 1.005.001 Released on Consoles, PC
Here’s the confirmed list of fixes according to Saber:
General Fixes:
Fixed a bug that caused the Perfect Parry window for Fencing melee weapons to be shorter than intended. We reverted the values to pre-patch levels.
Fixed a server-related issue that would cause a loss of control on PC.
Fixed a bug where one of the Chainsword Artificer version was dealing more damage than intended.
Fixed: “Iron Hands Steel” emblem colour was red instead of black.
Fixed a bug that caused Keyboard mappings to be reset after installing the new patch.
Fixed a bug that prevented players from being able to change controls for the Ability button (you might have to change controls one more time).
Fixed a bug where the Jump Pack ability would spend more than 1 charge in rare cases.
Fixed a bug in the Campaign mission “Skyfire” (part 2) where a script would not start properly in rare cases.
Modified: The new mechanic for Blocking weapons “Adrenaline Surge” now restores 2 armour segments instead of 1 when discharged.
Locked access to the Research Center until the Adeptus Mechanicus gives its blessings.
Restored progression for modded version of the game (warning popup will still appear and say otherwise, but progression should be saved nonetheless).
Several crash fixes.
Given the size and scope of the Obelisk update, we wouldn’t be surprised to see another patch be released for more adjustments and bug fixes.
While we just got the big Crusader Kings 3 console path #15 last week, Paradox has released a new patch for PS5 specifically, and this is to mitigate the crashing issues players have been experiencing since last week’s patch was applied. PS5 players should see this as Crusader Kings 3 update 1.031.000, and this is a small download.
Crusader Kings 3 PS5 Start Up Crashing Issues Now Fixed in Lastest Update
Here’s the latest note from the developers: “Hello everyone! We’re releasing a small hotfix today to address an issue that was causing Crusader Kings III: Console Edition to crash on startup for some PlayStation 5 players.”
Outside of that, there are no gameplay-related changes included in the patch download.
With last week’s title update, a lot of gameplay-related adjustments were implemented such as:
With this Update, we are switching the logic of the game’s autosave system from in-game months to a time-based system. On its default setting, the game will create an autosave once every 5 minutes. Pausing the game will also pause the timer. This change was made to avoid frequent autosaves interrupting the game when playing at higher game speed.
Updated logic of the profanity filter when creating custom names
Fixed an issue where controller vibration wouldn’t stop correctly
Fixed an issue with War & Peace window; it should now take active characters into consideration
Fixed an issue where hunting horns weren’t rendering correctly
Fixed an issue causing visual artifacts on older characters in Event windows
Fixed an issue where achievements would be disabled after custom character creation while playing with Ironman mode enabled
Fixed an issue where Game Rule presets were not correctly applying their settings to the game
Fixed an issue where players would not be notified that they have exceeded their save quota after creating a new save that causes them to exceed the quota
Added detailed tooltips for character personalities.
Sony has sprung a surprise sale on the PlayStation Store today, though you’ll need to have an active PlayStation Plus membership to take advantage of it. If you aren’t a member, you might want to consider it, as not only will you be able to enjoy multiplayer, but this sale has some steep discounts on new titles.
Like our other sales articles, we have the complete list of games, and our recommendations. It is important to note that the prices indicated below do not includethe discount since you’ll need to be logged in to see it, and we unfortunately can’t scrape the data like that.
PlayStation Store “Holiday Sale” Now Live for Just a Few Days Ending on December 19
Note: We have enabled a collapsible table for the games given the huge list. To see the games in each list, click on the black arrow and/or the letters (A – E, F – J, K – O, P – T, U – Z).
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (-25%, 52.49) – The latest COD. Omnimoovement not as big as Treyarch claims it to be. Loads of bugs, but gunplay is solid when it works as intended. Heavy with SBMM, so bear that in mind.
Hogwarts Legacy (-75%, $17.49) – Huge discount and at that price? Definitely a pick-up. Open-world Harry Potter game that lets you explore Hogwarts Castle. It also lets you off a ton of wizards, just like Lord Voldemort but worse, since you’re just a student in this one.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard (-40%, $41.99) – Huge sale on a newly-released RPG. Has reviewed fairly well, and said to bring back classic BioWare gameplay.
Madden NFL 25 (-60%, $27.99) – The only NFL sim available, so if you want some virtual pigskin action on, this is the game. Gets seasonal content.
EA Sports College Football 25 (-50%, $34.99) – First NCAA football game in a long, long time. Reviewed very well, and gets a lot more support than Madden.
EA Sports MVP Bundle: Madden 25 + College Football 25 (-55%, $67.49) – Two football games at a discounted price. If you can’t get enough pigskin action, this is a good deal I gather.
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Ultra Edition (-25%) – The game itself is worth the price of admission BUT the 25 percent discount for the Ultra which costs $110? Yeah, not really. If it was 25 percent off the base game price, then definitely a no-brainer.
Palworld (-25%, $22.49) – Released fairly recently on PS5. Getting a huge December update as well. Pokemon with guns? Not really, but if you want to jump on the hype train, then this is a good price.
Diablo 4 Expansion Bundle (-35%, $45.49) – Includes the base game + Vessel of Hatred expansion. Worth it for those who like Diablo-style gameplay. The DLC is sold separately and discounted as well.
Star Wars Outlaws (-35%, $45.49) – The one with the Season Pass is also on sale. Has gotten loads of updates since launch, making the experience better. Just don’t expect big bosses, lightsaber duels or anything like that. This is more of an open-world game where you’re a thief and not a Jedi.
Undisputed (-25%, $44.99) – Given we aren’t getting a Fight Night game anytime soon, then this might be the next best thing. Just got a new DLC for fighters.
Unknown 9 Awakenig (-50%, $24.99) – Was just released this October and now at 50 percent off. Received very middling reviews. I suggest checking YouTube first before deciding.
Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns Kollectio (-60%, $19,99) – Massive discount on the latest Mortal Kombat game, and the Khaos Reigns pack is also discounted. Still getting supported, so might be worth it if you want a fighting game.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (-40%, $41.99) – Fantastic follow-up to FF7 Remake. If you’ve played that, then this is an automatic buy.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake + Rebirth Twin Pack (-40%, $59.99) – If you ahven’t played FF7 Remake, this is the perfect starting off point. Awesome RPG experiences and will remind you why FF7 is one of the most revered games of all-time.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (-20%, $39.99) – Zombie game where you can use literally everything. Not sure how the remaster plays, but the original was definitely a solid zombie game. Getting support from Capcom even if it’s not a multiplayer game.
Tekken 8 (-50%, $34.99) – Fight fans might be underwhelmed by this compared to Tekken 7, but it’s still a solid fighter. Loads of support and even getting Clive Rosfield from FF16 this week!
GTA 5 (-50%, $19.99) – This is the lowest it will ever be on PSN. It has been on sale multiple times, but this is as deep as the discount goes. Might be a good time to try if you haven’t already since GTA 6 is out next year (at least that’s what Take-Two has planned).
Red Dead Redemption 2 (-67%, $19.79) – Awesome open-world game, and in my opinion, better than GTA 5. Ecen if you don’t like westerns, this one is special. Loads of Easter eggs, activities. You can meet a vampire, kill the Ku Klux Klan even.
UFC 5 (-60%, 27.99) – Latest UFC game. Only MMA game available for current-gen platforms. Gets free fighters regularly from EA.
The Crew Motorfest (-70%, $20.99) – Huge discount on the latest live service racer from Ubisoft. Still getting support though not as much as one might expect.
F1 24 (-70%, $21) – Codemasters’ latest F1 game. Getting monthly support, and is worth a pick up for F1 enthusiasts.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor (-75, %17.50) – Sequel to Respawn’s excellent Jedi series that’s getting a third and concluding entry. Loads of fun, more forgiving than the first, and way less backtracking.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (- 90%, $4) – At that price? This is definitely worth a pick up just to even try it. Fun, but expect loads of backtracking. Excellent combat, boss fights, and a Souls experience but with a Star Wars coating. Except for Cal Kestis’ running animation, which has a doodie coating on his underwear.
AC Mirage (-60%, $19.99) – Latest Assassin’s Creed game. Have not played it. I assume you pick a target, kill them, jump off high ledges, etc.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Gold Edition (-40%, $53.99) – Includes the Solar Pass and other DLC stuff. Latest entry in the racing franchise. Getting supported still.
Final Fantasy 16 (-25%, $37.49) – I find that people either like this or hate it. Personally, I dig it since the combat is fluid and combo-heavy, boss fights are a spectacle, and it will remind you of past Final Fantasy games. Worth the price of admission. The Complete Editino with the two DLCs are also on sale for $52.49.
Banishers Ghosts of New Eden (-50%, $29.99) – Underrated gem. It might look AAA, but it’s not. Combat is its weakest point but side quests, story, voice-work and whatnot are all topnotch stuff. Can’t recommend this enough. Has loads of stuff to do outside the main quest as well, so it’s not like it’s a 8-10 hour game.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (-60%, $27.99) – Ubisoft open-world but with Avatar’s license. Better than expected and still getting DLC and support.
WWE 2K24 (-67%, %23.10) – Not bad, and getting support, but be ready for that to disappear since devs are most likely already prepping release of 2K25’s version due early next year.
The Witcher 3 Complete Edition (-80%, $9.99) – If The Witcher 4 trailer got you hyped, go jump in. Even if you’re not familiar with the first two games, it’s fine. One of the best games of all-time. Has fantastic side quests, loads of weapons and armor to scavenge for. Includes the two massive expansions too. If you haven’t played this yet, I cannot recommend this enough.
GTA The Trilogy The Definitive Edition (-60%, $23.99) – Just got a patch recently. Not sure how performance is now, but three GTA games for that price? You’ll be playing this one well into 2025.
Dead Island 2 (-50%, $24.99) – Still getting consistent support, and one of the only few games Embracer released that seems to actually have made money.
RoboCop: Rogue City (-55%, $26.99) – Violent. Faithful to the movies, and a bit underrated since it didn’t come from a known developer.
Need for Speed Unbound (-90%, $6.99) – A more aracade-y take on the racing franchise. Still getting seasonal support.
Hogwarts Legacy + Quidditch Champions Bundle (-70%, $29.99) – Have not played Quidditc Champions so can’t say if the bundle is worth it. That game is still getting support up to now.
Battlefield 2042 (-92%, $5.59) – We are likely getting a new BF game next year, but at that price? Yeah, worth it to test things out especially since loads of stuff have changed since release.
Dying Light 2 (-60%, $23.99) – Zombie game from Techland and getting a ton of support. You can be sure this won’t get abandoned anytime soon, as Techland is known for supporting their games for years.
Resident Evil Village (-60%, %15.99) – The expansions are also on sale currently. Closes the chapter on Ethan Winters’ story. Very fun even if it’s in first-person. Doesn’t overstay its welcome and has that classic Resident Evil gameplay.
Resident Evil 7 biohazard (-60%, $7.99) – The scariest Resident Evil game I have ever played. Well worth it just to experience the hillbilly terror.
LEGO Harry Potter Collection (-50%, $19.99) – Includes Years 1-4 and Years 5-7. It’s that familiar LEGO gameplay but in Harry Potter’s universe.
Romancing SaGa 2 (-25%, $37.49) – Nicher game that has a solid fanbase. This is a 3D remake fo the original.
LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga (-80%, $15.99) – Star Wars in LEGO. Perfect game to play with kids and your partner that’s not a huge gamer.
System Shock – (-50%, $19.99) – Remake of the original. Reviewed fairly well, too. The original inspiration of BioShock and is considered the spiritual successor of System Shock.
Mafia Definitive Edition (-80%, $7.99) – Open-world game and heavily discounted. We are getting the latest Mafia game next year too.
Atomic Heart (-60%, $27.99) – Has that BioShock feel but not as polished or as deep. Has a new DLC incoming early next year.
Skull and Bones (-60%, $27.99) – Ubisoft’s pirate game that’s been in development limbo for a long time. Still getting support, though not sure how good this is.
Dead Space (-75%, $17.50) Much like the Resident Evil remakes, Silent Hill 2 remake, this is also an excellent remake. We really should be getting DS2 Remake. Buy this, so the chances of that happening is much higher. This deserves to be played. Fantasic story, creepy atmosphere, varied combat, and even has good bosses as well. This is a great horror game from start to finish.
Nobody Wants to Die (-40%, $14.99) – Fairly new, and is a detective game not an action title. Reminds me of Minority Report minus Tom Cruise (is that good or bad?).
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (-85%, $3) – Hard to not recommend a game that’s still being played, lets you become a murdering Jedi, and has faithful representations of AT-ATs, blaster sounds and other Star Wars stuff.
Visions of Mana (-30%, $41.99) – Latest Mana game from Square Enix. Reviewed well. If you’re looking for a new JRPG.
Resident Evil 3 (-75%, $9.99) – The weakest of the RE remakes. Main issue here is how short it is, given you can literally finish this one on sitting. Around 4-7 hours, I think.
Borderlands 3 (-90%, $5.99) – Latest mainline Borderlands game. We are getting B4 next year, so might be worth a shot to jump in. Good game to play with friends.
Back 4 Blood (-90%, $5.99) – Might be a good game to play with friends. Support has ended but servers are still up. Turtle Rock allegedly working on a sequel.
Eiyuden Chroncile: Hundred Heroes (-50%, $24.99) – Surprise hit, and still getting support somewhat.
Session Skate Sim (-75%, $12.49) If you want your skateboarding games more “serious” and less arcade-y. This is still getting support with updates and even new content.
Yakuza Like a Dragon (-50%, $9.99) – Reviewed very, very well. Super low price, so worth checking this one.
King of Fighters 15 (-70%, $8.99) – If you’re looking for an alt fighter, SNK still supporting the latest KOF.
Tactics Ogre Reborn (-50%, $24.99) – Remake of the 1995 original. Tactics-like RPG, which is more fun than it looks.
Okami HD (-75%, $4.99) – We just got Okami 2 announced, so this might be time to give this a go. Gorgeous action-adventure game developed by Clover. Very charming, colorful and has a distinct Japanese vibe to it.
The big Anniversary Sale is still active, and ends on December 20. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony either refreshes the Holiday Deals sale list or launches a new one to ring in the new year with loads of sales.
Story Update: An unnamed 2K employee has mentioned that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 is still in active development, though no further details were shared. Gearbox has yet to give us a proper reply to our inquiry about the game’s development status.
While Gearbox revealed a new Borderlands 4 trailer at The Game Awards, it seems the development of the unannounced sequel to one of its spin-offs, Tiny Tina’s Wonderands, isn’t going as smoothly. For reference, Tiny Tina generally received positive reviews, and its sales numbers “exceeded expectations,” according to Take-Two. Therefore, it was no surprise when, at the end of 2023, we learned that a sequel was already in the works, thanks to a mention in the profile of a former Gearbox employee.
Despite knowing that the fourth installment of Borderlands is closer to release than ever, we have discouraging information indicating that the sequel to its spin-off might not share the same fate.
Layoffs and a Reboot Impact Tiny Tina 2’s Fate
According to our source who has knowledge about the situation, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 was canceled in recent months. This information makes sense considering factors such as the rounds of layoffs at Lost Boys Interactive, the studio that collaborated in developing Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, which suffered cuts in January and September of this year. Additionally, in February, Kotaku reported that the sequel’s development had undergone a “soft reboot,” all amidst the sale of Gearbox to Take-Two by Embracer Group.
Other data supporting this information can be found in the profiles of Lost Boys Interactive employees, such as artist Bemin Jackson, who lists the game on his ArtStation profile as “unpublished,” which can be interpreted as a canceled project.
Another noteworthy detail is that the first mention of the game’s existence revealed it was being developed using Unreal Engine 4. This connects with another LinkedIn profile of a former Lost Boys Interactive employee who worked on two projects, one developed in Unreal Engine 5 and another project that got canceled, presumably made in Unreal Engine 4 based on the developer’s skill list. Although no further details are provided, we can speculate that this last project was Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2.
However, it’s important to note that the title in question here is listed as “AA” whereas the first Tiny Tina to our understanding was AAA.
Still, based on a few of our sources, it all points to the soft reboot not succeeding, leading to an indefinite termination of development in recent months. Of course, there is a chance the game is just in development limbo, which means it’s not technically canceled, but it’s not something we’ll see anytime soon. We’ve reached out to publisher 2K Games and will update the story if we hear back. Until then, players can look forward to Borderlands 4, which is planned for next year on PCs and consoles.
Remedy Entertainment has one more Alan Wake 2 patch for players before 2024 ends, and it’s live now on all platforms. Console gamers will see this as Alan Wake 2 update 1.200.007 (Xbox Series version 1.2.0.7, PC version 1.2.7), and this adds a new “Balanced” mode for PS5 Pro console owners. There’s also a bunch of bug fixes, which applies to all platforms.
Alan Wake 2 Update 1.200.007 Released on December 16 Delivers PS5 Pro Balanced Mode
Improvements and additions
[PS5 Pro] Added a new “Balanced” graphics mode. This mode requires compatible displays that can achieve a 120Hz refresh rate. The Balanced mode combines PS5 Pro Quality mode settings including raytracing with Performance mode resolution. This mode targets 40fps.
[PS5 Pro] Slightly adjusted visual settings of the Performance mode to achieve a more consistent framerate.
[PS5 Pro] Quality and Balanced mode: Adjusted Raytracing settings to achieve a less noisy image.
[PS5 Pro] Added an option to toggle PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) On/Off.
Fixes
[The Lake House] Fixed manuscript collectables that showed the wrong page in Saga’s Mind Place.
[The Lake House] Fixed “Welcome to the Lake House” video collectable missing audio.
Minor fixes and optimizations.
We’re expecting this to be the last patch for the game in 2024, but who knows what Remedy has planned. In other Alan Wake 2 news, the game’s total budget (marketing and development) has nearly been recouped by Remedy, which is very good news.
Let’s hope Alan Wake 3 doesn’t need to be out that long to recoup its budget, as a game this good deserves all the love from the gaming community it can get.
While Sonic Racing CrossWorld was announced at The Game Awards 2024 and Sonic X Shadow Generations passed 1.5 million copies sold, there’s still talk about Sonic Superstars, which SEGA considers a failure.
SEGA’s Expectations for Sonic Superstars Were Not Satisfied
In an interview with Eurogamer, SEGA President Shuji Utsumi didn’t hold back, calling Sonic Superstars “a disappointment,” while praising Sonic X Shadow Generations as a great game that met the company’s expectations.
“We were trying to do something creative with Sonic Frontiers. With Sonic Superstars it turned out to be a disappointment, in terms of the outcome compared to what we delivered,” Utsumi said, talking about recent Sonic releases. When it launched, SEGA suggested that Sonic Superstars didn’t sell well because Super Mario Bros. Wonder was released at the same time, and Sonic’s 2D adventure struggled to catch on.
Utsumi also spoke about SEGA’s new strategy with Sonic, “We have Sonic X Shadow Generations and the next Sonic movie, so we’re pushing things in the transmedia direction – movies and games working in harmony to make things bigger. But the core [of the experience] is the game. The game needs to be very good or else there is no transmedia effect.”
With the third Sonic movie coming soon, the next big game is Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, which has only shown a short teaser trailer so far.
A new update has been released today for Bleach Brave Souls and this is patch 16.4.0. For players who play the game on consoles, this is tagged as update version 1.71. This update comes with Guild Quest improvements, an extra wave, and bug fixes. Read on for the changes down below.
Bleach Brave Souls Update 1.71 Comes with Many Improvements
Guild Quest Improvements
In order to make Guild Quests details easier to understand, we’ve made a number of improvements, including updates to the Guild Quest screen, adjustments to the scoring format, a maximum score for each set of rules, and a display for them in records. We’ve also added the “Extra Wave.”
The scoring system has been adjusted so that scores are calculated using Damage Scores and Enemies Defeated Bonuses that differ by enemy.
Along with these changes, we have also adjusted how damage is calculated to ensure that more damage is dealt in Guild Quests.
Extra Wave
When you have cleared Wave 5 on the hardest difficulty available in the currently open Guild Quest, you’ll be able to attempt an Extra Wave. You can attempt the Extra Wave to aim for an even higher score, but conditions such as your remaining time and character Stamina carry over.
The only enemy introduced in an Extra Wave is an Extra Wave Boss. Extra Wave Bosses have an Extra Level and the first one to appear will have an Extra Level of 1. When you defeat a boss, a boss of the next Extra Level with boosted stats will appear. Defeating Extra Wave Bosses will earn you Damage Bonuses and Enemies Defeated Bonuses, further increasing your score.
If you chose not to attempt the Extra Wave when you clear Wave 5, your score at the end of Wave 5 will be your score for that Guild Quest.
Extra Wave Details
You can check the details of the Extra Wave on the Guild Quest screen.
1. Extra Wave Entry Conditions
The Extra Wave entry conditions can be confirmed here. Only the highest difficulty level of the currently open Guild Quest will be shown
2. Extra Wave Bonuses
You can receive bonuses for meeting certain conditions when attempting an Extra Wave. Characters still alive at the end of Wave 5 will receive a Healing Bonus. Characters that are on 0 Stamina when Wave 5 is cleared do not receive this bonus. The Time Bonus is a bonus that adds to the remaining time limit when Wave 5 is cleared. The time limit will not be extended beyond the limit from the start of the Guild Quest.
3. Extra Levels and Extra Wave Clearance
The details for the bosses of the Extra Wave cannot be confirmed until you have attempted the Extra Wave. If you have already attempted the Extra Wave, you’ll be able to see the details for the Extra Level of each boss you have faced. If you have already defeated the boss, CLEAR will be shown next to the boss’s Extra Level.
4. Extra Wave Boss Information
You can confirm the details of an Extra Wave Boss here. The details shown include whether or not the boss has abilities such as Poise, what kind of attacks they use, and how their stats compare to the boss one Extra Level lower.
Free Accessory Machine Notice
A small pop-up saying “Free” above the Shop button on the Home screen will indicate that a free Accessory Machine is available.
Issues Fixed
– Since the data update at 6/5 16:00, Achievements relating to Battle Power (BP) were not immediately being cleared when the target BP was reached.
– The values of a Soul Trait powered up through the Attribute Tree were not being correctly displayed on all screens. This fix will be applied to Epic Raids in a future update.
Please be aware this issue is in the display of the values only. The powered up values are being correctly added to the characters’ Soul Traits.
When a newer update is out, our readers will be informed soon.
Zenless Zone Zero update 1.4 is arriving this week, and with it comes the addition of two brand-new agents, Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumasa. While the latter will be entirely free for everyone upon login, Hoshima Miyabi, the newest Frost Anomaly Agent, will be in the update’s first available banner. But before you get ready to spend all those hard-earned Polychromes on some tapes for rolls, developers miHoYo first want you to learn all about Miyabi’s tragic back story with their newest animated short, The Path to Becoming a Hero.
Zenless Zone Zero’s Miyabi Proves That Heroes Are Born to Protect
Zenless Zone Zero fans, prepare for some potential tears as the latest animated short is live! The Path to Becoming a Hero takes us through the tragic backstory of Hoshimi Miyabi, the upcoming Agent available to earn in update 1.4.
miHoYo outdid themselves with this animated short, something even fans pointed out in the video’s comment section. It’s not only animated well, but the story that unfolds in the short minutes manages to tug at those heartstrings with just the right feel. I’m not crying, I swear, I am not crying.
Anyway, Hoshimi Miyabi will be featured in the update 1.4 first banner, and we’re sure that after seeing this short, many fans (including me) will try and roll for her. So good luck to you all!
However, if you’re someone who is waiting for another agent to pop up, at the very least, you’ll enjoy a new agent at 1.4’s release, as Asaba Harumasa will be free for everyone, along with the story content and other features and events. You can read some highlights in our Zenless Zone Zero update 1.4 preview post.
Asaba Harumasa and Hoshimi Miyabi will be available in Zenless Zone Zero starting December 18.
A gamer at heart, James has been working for MP1st for the last decade to do exactly what he loves, writing about video games and having fun doing it. Growing up in the 90's gaming has been in his DNA since the days of NES. One day he hopes to develop his own game.
As promised, developers Rebel Wolves, and Bandai Namco has finally given an update on their upcoming dark fantasy AAA single-player title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, confirming the reveal is next month! Gamers can expect it to include a CGI trailer, a look into some of the game’s pillars and concepts, and a glimpse into the gameplay.
Polish Developers Rebeal Wolves, Consisting of Ex-Witcher 3 Developers, Including Its Director Is Developing The Blood of Dawnwalker
As revealed on X by Rebel Wolves, The Blood of Dawnwalker has a reveal date, which is January 13, 2025! The studio will be hosting a Twitch stream, in which they plan on showcasing the game’s opening (CGI trailer) along with giving us plenty of details on their debut title. Though based on their wording, don’t expect a lot in terms of gameplay as they say a “tiny first glimpse” of it will be shown.
On January 13th, under the next full moon…

This announcement comes days just after The Witcher 4 reveal, which may not be a coincidence considering that Rebel Wolves consists of many veteran developers who previously worked at CD Projekt Red. This includes The Witcher 3’s game director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who is now CEO and Game Director over at Rebel Wolves. Here’s what he had to say about the project two years ago:
“For all of us here at Rebel Wolves, video games were always something we felt destined to do—something ingrained in our DNA. Personally, I couldn’t be happier to have banded together with friends who share this passion. We’re developing a video game we’d like to play in a way that games should be made. We want to evolve the cRPG genre by creating unforgettable stories and stirring deep emotions, all while working as a tightly knit team united by a shared goal and ambition. Collectively, we envision Rebel Wolves as a place where experienced game developers can reignite their passion, where they can focus on their craft and pour their love into an amazing, ambitious title. We want to stay small and agile—a place where people know and care for each other.”
As noted on the studio’s website, The Blood of Dawnwalker is being planned as a saga of games, fully developed in Unreal Engine 5. Though there’s no target release date, we do know that it’s currently planned to come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
