Battlefield 2042 Dev: “Not a Project in Trouble,” Explains More About the Dev Process

Just yesterday, a DICE developer mentioned that Battlefield V was in a “different phase” when it got delayed in comparison to Battlefield 2042’s delay. Now, another developer from EA connected to the project has spoken out about the upcoming shooter, and mentions how the game being delayed doesn’t mean the project is in trouble.

Over on Twitter, Jim Hejl commented that Battlefield 2042 just needs more time in development, and that it’s “not a project in trouble.”

Answering a fan, Hejl mentions how he’s tweaking terrain tessellation for max performance, and how there are hundreds of creators working on the game 24 hours. (Read about terrain tessellation on EA’s Frostbite engine here).

Hejl adds that it’s normal to be squeezing more performance at the tail end of a game’s development cycle, which is what they are doing with Battlefield 2042.

Continuing Hejl’s interaction with gamers, he comments on how some gamers see Battlefield 2042 as “half a game,” given it doesn’t have a single-player campaign.

Lastly, If you were annoyed at DICE being silent the entire time before the delay announcement, don’t be. Devs are not the ones incharge when it comes to sharing news, which Hejl pointed out to a gamer.

As a long-time Battlefield fan, I don’t consider Battlefield 2042 “half a game.” I’d rather have a robust, and awesome-playing multiplayer component than have it half-baked since resources are going into a single-player campaign.

Do you think BF2042 development is in trouble given the delay? Or is it more of the devs taking their time to squash as many bugs as they can, and polish it more? Don’t forget, BF2042 will be releasing on multiple platforms and generations, and we have the on-going global pandemic to deal with as well.

Battlefield 2042 will be released this November 19 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Win individual rounds within each match to gain trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the amount of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Additionally, 2 random Trials rewards will be available as guaranteed drops via the reputation track. Resetting your trials rank places new trials rewards on this track.

Once you have gone flawless, keep playing! Every win on your still-flawless card will give you a chance at bonus, additional post-match drops of the Adept weapon for that week. Once you lose a game, you will no longer get these adept drops. However, still winning on a non-flawless 7-win cards can drop bonus trials engrams, prisms, and even ascendant shards.

Additionally, if you have gone flawless that week, you can take your 7-win card and return to Saint-14 to focus one additional engram into any previously-obtained adept weapon of your choosing. This will consume your card, and further adept-level focuses can be obtained via cashing in another 7-win card, but with flawless no longer being required! If you specifically wish to farm the adept weapon for that week, however, the best method is going for additional wins while still holding onto a flawless ticket.

COD Warzone Hardware Ban Carry Overs to Vanguard

Here’s a rather interesting and awesome development for Call of Duty: Vanguard, it looks like cheaters who were hardware banned in COD Warzone have seen themselves banned in COD Vanguard, too!

This was confirmed by cheaters who posted screenshots on Discord lamenting the fact that they can’t connect to the Vanguard servers:

This is for PC (obviously). Hopefully, more cheaters in Warzone are caught, and the ban hammer smacked on them. There is absolutely no reason to cheat in online multiplayer games. Don’t be that person that wrecks the fun for everyone, alright?

Speaking of the COD Vanguard beta, you can check out our first week’s impression of it right here.

Have you encountered cheaters in the COD Vanguard beta? If so, let us know your experience down in the comments below.

Bloober Team has released The Medium update 1.003 this September 17, and this is for a Trophies fix! Head on below for the full patch notes.

The Medium Update 1.003 Patch Notes:

Here’s what’s new per the official The Medium Twitter account:

Dear #Playstation Players! Patch 1.03 is now online. The most important of the introduced changes: fix of the trophy system. Remember to update the game!

Many thanks to all those who helped and supported us with the data. We are working on further improvements!

That’s about it for this title update. If you havent played or bought The Medium yet, our review is here, where we say this for the PS5 version: “I think The Medium is an excellent entry in what is hopefully a long running series. The story, and the visual presentation behind it are just so much fun and engaging that I can’t help but want more. The added DualSense features are by far some of the best implementations we’ve seen from a third party studio. Bloober Team is quick to familiarize themselves with it.”

Visual Concepts has released the NBA 2K22 update 1.005 for next-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) this September 17. Same as the last few patches, this title update is only for the nex-gen versions of the basketball sim.

NBA 2k22 Update 1.005 Patch Notes

Update: We earlier linked to the wrong tweet by Visual Concepts regarding today’s patch. We have now amended it, and have updated the post with the correct patch notes. Apologies for any inconvenience this might have caused:

Per Visual Concepts:

GENERAL

  • Additional stability improvements in an ongoing effort to improve your user experience.
  • Fixed issues where some users were unable to progress in select MyCAREER storylines.
  • The Gatorade Private Courts reservation menu will now reliably display your friends list.
  • Fixed just prior to this patch: Users should have already noted improved responsiveness on Squad Invites and newly improved performance in Rec/Pro-Am experiences.

UPCOMING

Our next PS5/XBX patch, scheduled for next week, will bring continued stability improvements, improved loading speeds when re-entering the City, removed/reduced hitching when on vehicles on Series X consoles, removing tipping from DJ Booths when propped near Quest NPCs, and more.

At the time of writing there hasn’t been an official acknowledgment of a new NBA 2k22 update. As always we will be watchful of the community and social media accounts for any official word and will update this post once we learn anything.

Same as always, we expect Visual Concepts to update us on the patch later in the day.

If you spot anything yourselves please let us know in the comments down below. This update just comes a couple of days after the NBA 2k22 1.004 update.

NBA 2k22 is now available on PC,PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch

Apex Legends Server Issues Will Persist Through the Weekend

While Respawn Entertainment just launched the Evolution Collection Event for Apex Legends this week, it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for the game. Not only did the game run into some downtime the day of the update, but there are still on-going Apex Legends server issues that are happening now.

Apex Legends Server Issues – September 16:

According to Respawn, they are expecting the problems to require work over the weekend, which means players must be ready if they can’t connect to matches and so on.

An update on ongoing issues with @playapex stability: We’re ramping up our server capacity today and have some scheduled fixes for tomorrow. However, we believe some problems will require work through the weekend. Sincere apologies—we’re working as quickly as we can on a fix.

Hopefully, this won’t be an on-going issue this weekend, and is resolved right away. We’ll be updating this post, or report on whatever update is happening as more info becomes available.

If you’re able to play Apex Legends, or not able to connect to matches, feel free to leave a comment below to let your fellow legends know which region/area is having issues, and on what platform.

Dead Cells Update 1.27 Out for Practice Makes Perfect; Patch Notes Listed

Motion Twin has deployed the Dead Cells update 1.27 September 16 patch, which is called the “Practice Makes Perfect” title update. This includes the Training Room addition, Aspects, and loads more.

Dead Cells Update 1.27 Patch Notes | Dead Cells Practice Makes Perfect Patch Notes:

A new update has landed! This time there’s no balance changes or new weapons, instead we’re focusing on improving the ease-of-use and learning curve for everyone (particularly newcomers & occasional players), without altering the overall difficulty of the game.
All the new features are entirely optional and designed to allow you to improve your skills with no ragequits! OK maybe you’ll still have a couple…

TLDR
  • Training room – hone your skills against all the mobs and bosses you’ve seen
  • Aspects – extremely strong powers to make your run easier (but you can’t win the next Boss Cell if you beat the game)
  • World map – see the paths you can take through the island
  • When you pick up a scroll you can see the change to your overall damage for each colour
  • Multi-binding moved to Custom Mode
  • Lots of smaller quality-of-life changes

The Training Room

Before you reach Prisoner’s Quarters you’ll see an entrance to a new training room where you can practise against any enemy that you’ve already faced. The mobs will start as statues (like in Slumbering Sanctuary) and re-animate only when you press the button at the entrance of the room.

We’ve even given you presets that reflect the bestiary of each biome to make your life easier, because we’re just that kind.

You can also train against all the bosses in their own environment, except for the spoiler boss. Just go through one of the doors at the back of the main room to train against the big guns.

Weapon tubes and a training Guillain are also there to provide you with all the tools you need to train, so get cracking!

Aspects

To help players reach new biomes and discover more of the game, we’re introducing the Aspects – optional super-strong buffs equippable at the start of a run that make the game a lot easier. There are a couple of catches though: you can only equip one, and you can’t unlock a new boss cell or flawless boss achievements while an Aspect is equipped, so you still need to rise to the challenge if you want to get to the next level.

Aspects provide a specific buff, centered around a core synergy element such as fire damage or speed boosting. The update features 13 Aspects and new ones could be added in the future, if we manage to have any more ideas that is…

World map

Probably the most self-explanatory part of this update, the world map features all the biomes you’ve already discovered and displays the connections between each level, but again only the ones that you’ve seen will be displayed. You can find it in the map screen of your current biome.

Other features

– Reminder after killing the Hand of the King to use the Homonculus rune to exit the run (except in 5BC or after the first 0BC kill).

– Total damage change is now displayed when picking stats from a scroll, time to retire the calculator…

– Incentive (cell drop buff) for picking your least visited biomes. Yep, it’s time to go back to the [insert your most hated biome here].

– Return stones now teleport you outside their relative Z-door.

– A few tidbits of lore hinting at something coming in the near future, found in High Peak Castle and Undying Shores.

– Multi-binding is now properly removed from Normal Mode and available in Custom Mode.

Polyphony Digital Explains Why Gran Turismo 7 Needs to Be Online, Says It’s for Anti-Cheat Purposes

The Gran Turismo franchise has been one of the cornerstones of racing games since the first game was released on the original PlayStation, and now Polyphony Digital explains why Gran Turismo 7 needs to be online — even if you’re just playing the campaign..

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi explained why the developers decided to go for an online requirement for the sequel — in order to prevent any cheaters or mods from exploiting the game’s date.

The requirement for the online connection isn’t specific to the Cafe per se – it’s just to prevent cheating overall from people trying to modify the save data, so that’s the reason for the online connection.

And just to update on the feature itself, there’s two functions to it. One is to direct the user to the next objective meeting, and also to get them to get involved in collecting some of those cars. And the other is, when they come back with the cars they’re asked to collect, it gives a little bit of background history for the culture, and the history behind these significant cars that they have added to their collection.

Gran Turismo 7 is set to race out this March 4, 2022 on the PS4 and PS5.

New Battlefield 2042 Early Access Date Revealed, Dev Says BFV in a “Different Phase” When It Got Delayed

In case you didn’t know, DICE announced yesterday that Battlefield 2042 would be getting a delay, and it will be released on November 19 instead of its original date of October 22. With the announcement, it’s a given that the early access availability of the game has also shifted as well. DICE has confirmed that the new Battlefield 2042 Early Access for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass is now set for November 12, 2021!

This news was announced today by Adam Freeman, Lead Community Manager at DICE.

We’ve compiled the Twitter thread tweet in one spot for an easier read/

Thanks to everyone who have sent their messages of support this past 12 hours or so – it’s deeply appreciated by all of us on the team #BATTLEFIELD I’ll be helping to answer questions as we move towards November 19th. To help clarify on the below Early Access = 12th November

We’re in the process of making updates to both our websites, and with our partners on their respective storefronts. Takes a bit of time to do, so please bear with us whilst do that, and do share the date with folks who you see asking the question.

New dates for the Open Beta will be shared later this month. We likely won’t share those dates today, or tomorrow – and I’ll give you further heads up next week.

The new Battlefield 2042 early access release date of November 12, is also a month’s difference from the original which was October 15.

Now, for those worried that the delay of Battlefield 2042 will mean that it’ll just be like Battlefield V (BF5), DICE Gameplay Engineer Niels Stoelinga has announced that the studio was in a different phase when BFV was delayed, and that a lot can be done in four weeks’ time when it comes to the bug fixing phase.

A lot can be done in 4 weeks when you’re in the bug fixing phase of a project. Feature work introduces bugs, requires testing/balancing and possibly more iterations. Bugs can be fixed quite rapidly as they usually don’t introduce more work. It’s going to be good, we’re so close!

It’s a fair comparison, but we were in a different phase during BFV when it got delayed. It’s okay if you don’t believe me, just know that I’m very optimistic and I’ve worked through quite a few releases already.

While it’s easy to rag on DICE for delaying the game and all, people have to remember that we are in the middle of a pandemic, which complicates a lot of things — and yes, that involves game development. Based on what we’ve seen so far, Battlefield 2042 is in a better spot than BFV given that it doesn’t seem to feature Attrition, and other gameplay-related mechanics that weren’t exactly embraced by Battlefield fans (including this guy).
