Fortnite Update 3.31 Deployed This September 16

Epic Games just rolled out the Fortnite update 3.31 patch this September 16, which is an unannounced title update. This doesn’t bring in any new content, but rather, fixes issues regarding Creative keybids, funding progress (visual), and more. The patch is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Android devices.

This is what’s new according to Epic Games:

We have deployed a maintenance patch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Android to address stability issues, the funding progress visual issue, and the Creative keybinds resetting to default issue. This patch will be available to download before launching your game.

We will let you know when this patch is available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, v18.00 was released earlier this week! We listed down the fixes and the datamined content from it here. There’s also a new Battle Pass, and the map has changed as well, too.

God of War Ragnarok Norse Story Ending in 2 Games was Cory Barlog’s Decision, Cites 5 Years to Make One New Game

While we got our first look at God of War Ragnarok this month, it comes with some bittersweet news, as Sony Santa Monica has also mentioned how it’s the ending for Kratos’ Norse mythology saga.

In a video chat with God of War content creator Kaptain Kuba, God of War 2018 game director Cory Barlog, and God of War Ragnarok game director Eric Williams took time out to answer some pertinent questions. One of the questions asked is why the Norse saga is ending after just two games, to which Barlog admitted that it was his decision, as each game took around five years to make, and taking 15 years to tell a single story was a bit too much.

There are several reasons; I think one of the most important reasons is the first game took five years. The second game, I don’t know how long it’s going to take, but i’m just going to throw out that it’s going to take close to similar time, right, to do this and then if you think, “Wow! A third one is that same,” we’re talking like a span of close to 15 years of a single story. And I feel like that’s just too stretched out. Like, I feel like we’re asking too much to say the actual completion of that story taking that long just feels too long. And given sort of where the team was at, and where Eric was at with what he wanted to do, I was like, “look I think we can actually do this in the second story, right? Because most of what we were trying to do from the beginning was to tell something about Kratos and Atreus that the core of the the story’s engine is really the relationship between these two characters, and the complexity radiates out — like ripples in a pond, and we could make it an ocean and have those ripples just go for you know thousands of miles. But is that necessary, and is that beneficial or are we feeling like “you know what? It’s just spreading it too far apart the ripples get too far apart and you sort of lose the plot a little bit”

But being able to kind of condense it, and feel like you know that experience I had when I got the Extended Edition box set of the Lord of the Rings, and I was able to say like, “Wow! I could sit down, and have like 13 and a half hours of this experience playing them one after another back to back.” And I just thought that was fantastic — amazing! So to be able to say, “Hey, man, you could probably start God of War 2018, and then play God of War Ragnarok and feel like you’re getting the entirety of the story.” – Cory Barlog

In the same interview, Williams talked about bringing back some of the classic Kratos attack moves using the Blades of Chaos, and

Since we only got the Blades halfway into the last game, we didn’t quite get to bring it back 100, so there were so many ideas like, “Oh we should bring back the grapple, and we should bring back the the chain pull, and the what we call combo 5b where he latches guys out of the air and slams them down.”Aand O saw it so many ideas that they were like the old stuff, and it was like, “Okay, let’s go through the greatest hits of things we didn’t get to, and let’s bring those back.” – Eric Williams

Finally, Williams confirmed that even the studio knew they needed/wanted more enemy variety in God of War 2018, but due to time constraints, weren’t able to fulfill that as much as they wanted. However, from what was said, it seems we’ll be getting a lot more enemy variety in God of War Ragnarok.

God of War Ragnarok is set for release sometime in 2022 for the PS4 and PS5.

PUBG Update 1.80 Shoots Out 13.2 This September 16

PUBG Corp. has released the PUBG update 1.80 patch this September 16, and this is for update 13.2! There are new weapons, new vehicle, and other features included in today’s update.

NEW WEAPON: P90

In this update, we are adding the fan-favorite P90 SMG to Care Packages. The P90 is our first Care Package SMG since the original Tommy Gun, and as such, we made sure it is a worthy addition. It comes loaded with its own unique 5.7mm High Powered ammo, which is capable of longer-range combat, unlike our other SMGs. It also comes with a Cheek Pad, Handguard, Laser, and Silencer pre-attached and non-detachable.

It also features dual optics that allow for fast switching between close-range and medium-range combat. Use the Holographic Sight for nearby foes and Flip on the Flipsight for added magnification when they make a run for it.It comes paired with 250 rounds of 5.7mm ammo in the Care Package.

A single magazine holds up to 50 rounds which you (and your foes) can see deplete live as you’re firing due to the magazine’s translucent design. With the translucent magazine keeping you aware of the high Rate of Fire and the Laser helping you keep track of your targets, the P90 is a solid addition to your loadout.

TAEGO UPDATES

NEW VEHICLE: PORTER

Introducing the new pickup truck, Porter, exclusive on Taego! The Porter is Hyundai Motor Company’s representative commercial truck, which was first introduced in 1977. Since then it has been carrying a lot of loads based on its solid basics and excellent durability. It is the only vehicle on PUBG available with the Trunk System, a new feature to be introduced below. Porter is a truck capable of carrying large loads and up to four passengers at the same time. Get your chicken dinner with the use of Porter which can easily run on any type of terrain with the support of the permanent four-wheel system!

  • Drivetrain: All-Wheel Drive

  • Trunk System is available and the capacity is 400

NEW FEATURE: TRUNK SYSTEM

With the Trunk System, you can maximize the acquisition of items for victory on Taego. Use the compartment of the Porter to load various items and take them out when needed. If the vehicle gets blown up, all the items in the compartment will also be destroyed. If you desire to keep your items safe, make sure your vehicle is safe!

  • Any item that can be placed in your inventory and weapons, helmets, vests, backpacks can be loaded into the Trunk.
    • However, due to the weight of weapons, helmets, vests, and bags, it may not be possible to load large quantities.
  • Only available on Taego with Porter vehicles.
  • The Trunk system can be accessed with the interaction key when not onboard. When onboard, it can be accessed by opening the inventory.
  • All items in the compartment will be lost if the vehicle is destroyed.
  • The compartment of the vehicle does not belong to one person. Anyone can load and take out items.
  • Item weight depending on their types are as follows.
    • When a weapon with attachments is placed in the trunk, attachment weight is added and loaded into the trunk with attachments attached.

NEW WEAPON: BLUE ZONE GRENADE

Introducing the Blue Zone Grenade! This throwable item can be used effectively if you want to deal damage in a broader area for a certain period of time. Especially in situations where you want to lure enemies out of a building. The Blue Zone Grenade creates a round blue zone with a maximum radius of ten meters, lasting for five seconds. It maintains its full size for five seconds, then decreases and disappears over another 5 seconds.

  • The blue zone gets as big as ten meters in radius and lasts for five seconds.
  • It remains in its full size for five seconds and then shrinks and disappears for another five seconds.
  • It does not explode underwater.
    • But, when activated near water, it gives damage to players inside the water.
  • Damage: 10/second
  • If you are already in the Blue Zone and are in range of an additional Blue Zone Grenade, additional damage will be applied.
    • Blue Zone + Blue Zone Grenade = Both damages apply.
    • Blue Zone Grenade + Blue Zone Grenade = Both damages apply.

NEW WEATHER

To maximize the experience on Taego, we are adding the following weather options to Taego. They will be randomly applied.

  • Sunset
  • Overcast

BLUE ZONE REBALANCING

Based on community feedback, we decided that the first phase of the Taego Blue Zone was a bit long. Therefore, we have reduced the duration of the first phase to provide a smoother Taego play experience. Enjoy more dramatic Taego through quicker farming!

COMEBACK BR IMPROVEMENTS

Since the introduction of Comeback BR, we have received a lot of feedback about how it could get boring. Therefore, we have made the following changes to encourage fast-paced Comeback BRs.

  • Blue Zone Changes
    • Now the Bluezone will shrink even more
  • Timeline changes
    • The total time of the Comeback BR has been reduced
    • Players can return to the battlegrounds when the phase two Bluezone starts to shrink

MINI MAP IMPROVEMENTS

The Taego minimap has been updated to make it easier to identify by making the outline of the unplayable area a bit darker.

Whether you’re looking to warm up or just let off some steam in a more relaxed environment, Casual Mode is there to help!

JOIN TEAM

We have updated the Join Team feature where PUBG Friends can now join teams without invitations! The difference between this and the Team Invite feature is that this doesn’t require “accept” from the team. This significantly reduces the waiting time as players will not need to wait for the team leader and team members for match-making.

  • Join Team feature can be turned on/off from the Settings.

CPP STATUS CHECK

  • If both players have Cross Platform Play enabled, joining across platforms is available.
    • Same rules apply as Team Invites.
    • Only applies for when joining with other platforms.

CUSTOM MATCH PRESETS

When creating a Custom Match, players had to reconfigure the settings every time they created a match. Now, we have added a Custom Match Preset feature that gives players the freedom to create, name, and save settings that can be loaded as presets any time when creating a new match.

  • A maximum of 10 custom match presets can be saved.

WORLD

WORLD LOADING SPEED IMPROVEMENTS

Since the release of the Lynx AMR, low ammo capacity combined with the inability of players to access additional ammunition has limited the overall usefulness of the weapon. To make the Lynx AMR widely used in the battlegrounds, we have increased the ammo capacity.

  • Fixed an issue where the fire mode UI would remain dimmed after using a healing item.
  • Fixed the BI logo on the Custom Match result screen to an updated version.
  • Fixed the issue where the kill message system worked abnormally when reaching more than one kill.
  • Fixed the issue where the Radio Message was not aligned with Team List UI.
  • Fixed the issue where the weapon level up animation in the progress bar isn’t displayed from the second page.

  • Fixed an issue where wearing a Floptop Mask on Female Face 17 would cause a clip on the cheeks on either side of the face.
  • Fixed an issue where both wrists would clip when wearing the Skeleton Queen Leather Jacket and hambinooo’s Gloves at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where all hairstyles would clip when female characters wore the SEA Champ Training Snapback.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the wrists to become transparent and the sleeves to sag when female characters were wearing Pretty Pajama Pants and a long sleeve top at the same time.

DBZ Kakarot Update 1.75 Flies Out

Bandai Namco Entertainment & CyberConnect2 has released the (Dragon Ball Z) DBZ Kakarot update 1.75 patch, and this is an unannounced title update.

For now, Bandai Namco has not shared any details regarding the patch, and it seems the commuity has not mentioned anything about it, either. However there is one bug noticed by a redditor that we’ve posted below (this is connected to the Warrior of Hope DLC released a rew months ago).

WARNING! DO NOT BUILD A VEHICLE IN THE TRUNKS FUTURE TIMELINE!

It will replace your vehicle in your main timeline. Level 50 hover car and all its upgrades+chips are now gone because I followed Future Bulma’s advice and built a hover car.

Outside of that, the Power Awakens DLC is headed to the Switch version later this month.

Patch 2.10 for #GhostOfTsushima Director’s Cut is live. This patch fixes a bug with Samurai Armor loadouts, adds an option to acquire Silk from the NG+ merchant, and removes a Legends requirement from the Common Courtesy trophy, plus various additional bug fixes and adjustments.

If you haven’t bought the Director’s Cut version yet, there’s a few new Easter eggs referencing God of War and more PlayStation properties in the Iki Island expansion.

Electronic Arts Announce New EA Creator Network

EA seems to be shaking up its connection and how it handles content creators and streamers, as Electronic Arts dips its toes in new markets. This time around, the company is looking to creators as EA officially announce their EA Creator Network, which was previously known as the Game Changer Program.

What exactly is the EA Creator Network, you may ask? According to the official site, it’s a brand-new platform that offers a ton of exclusives for prospective content creators who want to get into the lucrative opportuinites Electronic Arts is offering. You can read a rundown of it below:

Battlefield 2042 Delayed to November 19, 2021

We haven’t heard much from DICE regarding Battlefield 2042, and it seems there’s good reason for that, as the game has been delayed! It’s still shipping this 2021, thankfully, and the new Battlefield 2042 release date is now November 19, 2021.

DICE penned a letter to fans explaining the decision.

“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”

“Your enthusiasm for the game has been very inspiring. We believe in the game we’re making, and we thank you for your patience as we put some finishing touches into the experience.”

An announcement regarding the beta will take place later this month.

It’s not surprising given the radio slience the past few weeks, but at least it’s just a month’s delay, which is understandable given the on-going pandemic and whatnot.

Apex Legends Timing Out Issue Surfaces This September 15

Splitgate Developer Secures $100 Million Funding to Stay Independent

Following the big developer livestream yesterday, 1047 Games took to Twitter to share something big with their first-person arena shooter Splitgate. The news can be considered a reassuring one if you were worried about the game being exclusive to a particular storefront, as it’s announced that 1047 Games, the developer behind Splitgate, has secured a huge $100 million funding for the game’s continued development and the studio continuing to stay independent.

As mentioned, this influx of capital should help the studio stay independent, so for many players who were worried that the game will be scooped up by Epic Games as an exclusive, you can rest easy. At the same time, the message also relays that this $100 million funding should help them hire more developers to grow the game even further, and hopefully this also applies to the planned new-gen versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.

According to Eurogamer, the companies behind the funding consists of Lightspeed Venture Partners, the lead investor, alongside New York-based global private equity and venture capital firm Insight Partners, Anthos Capital, and earlier seed round investors Galaxy Interactive, VGames, Human Capital, Lakestar, DraperDragon, and Draper University.

Heads up! Raven Software has released a COD Warzone update today September 15, and this brings a lot of weapon changes! Note that this is a server-side update, and as such, there is no download required, as players will automatically get the patch once they connect to the servers.

• Fixed an issue causing Red Door rooms to misleadingly appear open if a Player dies inside one and redeploys after winning their
Gulag match.
• Fixed an issue causing the Auto Move Forward accessibility menu option to appear twice.

Assault Rifles

  • AK-47 (BOCW)
    • Gun Kick adjusted

We are reassessing and polishing the Gun Kick of the AK-47 (BOCW) to behave more closely to other 7.62 caliber weaponry. 

  • FARA 83 (BOCW)
    • Maximum Damage decreased from 29 to 25
    • Minimum Damage decreased from 25 to 23
    • Head Multiplier increased from 1.35 to 1.56
    • Neck Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.2
    • Upper Torso Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.1

The FARA 83 (BOCW) is forgiving in addition to sporting a relatively fast and consistent Time-to-Kill at both of its Damage Ranges – which we feel is exacerbated by how easy it is to control. We are shifting some of the FARA 83’s (BOCW) power into Locational Multipliers and aligning its TTK values more closely with other Weapons that require a similar level of skill.

  • Krig 6 (BOCW)
    • Recoil increased
    • Neck Multiplier decreased from 1.3 to 1.1

The Krig 6 (BOCW) has dominated the scene for some time now and has continued to do so following our latest changes. We would like to take a moment to dissect why the Krig 6 (BOCW) has been so resilient. We believe there should be Weapons for players of all skill levels. In that regard, the Krig 6 is intended to be the entry-level long-range Assault Rifle — which we believe it is. These types of Weapons can become problematic when they are so easily controlled that their fastest theoretical Time-to-Kill values can reliably become their realistic TTK values, which is rarely the case. If that were always the case, the AK-47 (BOCW) and the XM4 (BOCW) would be the best Weapons bar none. Additionally, its generous Neck Multiplier created a scenario where its TTK could be reduced consistently and easily with a single bullet. We believe these changes will more firmly place the Krig 6 (BOCW) where it belongs in the path of Warzone Weapon mastery— a first or second stepping-stone.

  • QBZ-83 (BOCW)
    • Recoil increased slightly
    • Recoil Dampening enabled

We have a vision for where we would like the easiest-to-control, long-range Weapons to lie on the Time-to-Kill spectrum. We believe we are close, but not quite there. In the wake of these Weapons changes, the long-range engagement space may be succeeded by the QBZ-83 (BOCW). We will be monitoring its performance over the coming week to ensure its performance meets our expectations.

 

Submachine Guns

  • OTs 9 (BOCW)
    • Recoil increased slightly
    • Maximum Damage decreased from 34 to 31
    • Minimum Damage increased from 20 to 21
    • Headshot Multiplier increased from 1.35 to 1.52
    • Neck Multiplier decreased from 1.35 to 1

Part of what made the OTs 9 (BOCW) a powerhouse was how easily it could achieve its reduced Time-to-Kill speeds. With a shared Headshot and Neck Multiplier, headshots were nearly twice as easy to hit, making the OTs 9 (BOCW) remarkably forgiving for a Weapon with extraordinary TTK potential. These changes will require more precision to achieve its fastest TTKs. The OTs 9 (BOCW) will still be at the top of the mobility food chain, and will remain hardly bested in close-quarters engagements given a few well-placed shots.

  • TEC-9 (BOCW)
    • Maximum Damage decreased from 26 to 24
    • Minimum Damage decreased from 24 to 22
    • Neck Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.1

The TEC-9 (BOCW), like many other Weapons, had homogenized Locational Multipliers — which is an issue that tends to put balance in a precarious spot. This could often create a Time-to-Kill dichotomy where the Weapon would either too easily achieve fast TTKs or be largely inviable. This is not a particularly interesting design space for Weapons to exist in as we feel they do not adequately reward precision. We found a 540ms TTK a tad fast for no more than Torso shots, especially given its Rate of Fire.

 

Light Machine Guns

  • Light Machine Gun Alpha (BOCW)
    • Recoil adjusted
    • Gun Kick adjusted
    • Raise Interrupt Time increased from .8 to 1 second

The Light Machine Gun Alpha (BOCW) has many desirable traits. Its Recoil, Gun Kick, and Handling were more what one might expect from a 5.56 Assault Rifle rather than a Light Machine Gun. These added LMG downsides will have players thinking twice about bringing an LMG to an AR fight.

 

Tactical Rifles

  • Tactical Rifle Charlie (BOCW)
    • Recoil decreased slightly

An overarching goal for us has been to bring all Weapons to viability. While burst Weapons may not be for everyone, we feel it is important that we support and cultivate a wide variety of playstyles and skill levels across all Warzone modes. With this reduction to Recoil and a slight boost to Rate of Fire on its barrels, we feel this burst Weapon will once again be in a viable state.

The Trickshot patch will feature 4 unique and 4 previously popular modes that rotate throughout the patch cycle. Each week there will be a different limited time mode available, from midnight Friday until 8am on Monday, EST. Here’s are some quick previews of what to expect next:

Cosmic Death

  • Jenos moves at the speed of light, or as fast as time and space will allow him. Jenos only mode with extremely increased Ultimate Charge gain rate and blazing fast movement speed.

Raumpage

  • All Raum, all chaos. Wreak havoc across the realm with all players as Raum, featuring decreased CDs across your abilities and Ultimate.

Claws Out

  • Tired of getting sniped from a mile away? Come on down to Claws Out, featuring all Kogas with claws without energy drain, alongside decreased Agility cooldown and damage.

STONE KEEP MAP UPDATE: DAY & NIGHT

Developer Commentary:
With this map rework we wanted to accomplish two main goals. 1. We wanted the color scheme and architecture design to very obviously reflect that Stone Keep is a Magistrate City. And 2. We wanted to use this rework to introduce a much more urban environment, something we’ve never really put into Paladins before. We wanted this map to feel more like a bustling medieval metropolis, and we expanded on the skybox to reinforce that. The sheer cliff drop is gone, replaced by a wide swath of additional city buildings across a broad canal.

We intended the map to feel more like a small piece of a much larger world instead of a castle sitting alone atop a hill. As for the lighting, we’ve wanted to test multiple lighting scenarios on maps for some time, and this seemed like a good place to start. Thanks to the city setting we were able to integrate many sources of artificial light into the visual design so we could continue to highlight important routes and landmarks in the dark. We’re very excited to see how both versions of this updated map are received and we hope you enjoy playing.






GENERAL UPDATES

Developer Commentary:
Some of our systems weren’t working as well as we’d hoped, so this patch we put some time into making things better. The Bounty Store should be more functional. Some unintentionally blacklisted words have been un-blacklisted. And Champion Mastery should be giving the correct rewards.

Bounty Store

  • As of our upcoming Hotfix, Daily Quests should once again award Bounty Coins (increased from previous store to 30 – normal, and 60 – hard)
  • Players will now have opportunities to earn additional Bounty Coins in the Event Pass and Trials of the Realm.
  • Keep your eyes peeled for a new Dredge skin only available via the Bounty Store!
  • In addition, we’re bringing back limited quantities, and adding Boosters as another way of spending those hard-earned coins.

Free Rewards

  • We’re increasing the number of rewards that can be claimed per day from 5 to 35 for players in regions where ads are available. We’ll continue to monitor this system and make adjustments.

Prohibited Words Blacklist

  • We’ve made some adjustments here. Players can now type Cassie without getting asterisked out!

Update on Champion Mastery Rewards

  • With regards to reports that masteries weren’t correctly awarding the expected rewards–we believe this has been fixed.
    If players are still experiencing this issue, please let us know and we’ll try to get it sorted out.
    Player account name will be useful in tracking down any further problems

BALANCE

Developer Commentary:
As Paladins continues to grow and evolve, we continue to refine the methods by which we determine which changes should be made in any given patch. This includes a strong data-driven approach mixed with valuable feedback solicited from our Assembly of Champions, our official social media channels, our Discord, and others. These changes address some of the Champions who are currently under- or over-performing, as well as Champions who are perceived to be strong or weak and would therefore benefit from seeing changes. In addition to the changes going into this update, we have other ideas and changes already on the slate for future updates, as we continue to work with you to help keep Paladins on the top of its game.

Androxus

  • Defiance
    • Reduced range 25 ➡️ 20
  • Buying Time
    • Reduced Ammo scaling 2|2 ➡️ 1|1

Developer Commentary:
While Androxus has pretty healthy statistics, there are a few aspects that are seen as not aligned with player expectation, including the visual distance of his Defiance and the amount of Ammo that can be generated with his Buying Time card.

Atlas

  • Unstable Fissure
    • Increased range 20 ➡️ 25
  • Temporal Divide
    • Reduced Cooldown penalty 65% ➡️ 55%

Developer Commentary:
The change to Temporal Divide made playing with that talent even more difficult. This shifts some of that frustration back out of that change. Additionally, Unstable Fissure is doing fairly well, but could use a slight range increase to make it more confirmable in more situations.

Cassie

  • Crossbow
    • Increased projectile speed by 5%
    • Increased projectile size by 10%

Developer Commentary:
Cassie is a Champion who rewards players who are familiar with how her weapon handles, and these changes aim to make it slightly easier to do so.

Corvus

  • Officer’s Pistol
    • Increased damage per shot 70 ➡️ 74
  • Increased maximum effective range 110 ➡️125
  • Projection
    • Increased the Cooldown reduction when choosing to not Teleport 1s ➡️ 2s

Developer Commentary:
Corvus is slightly underperforming in areas not surrounding his Healing output. As such, we’re increasing his combat effectiveness and the utility of his Projection.

Evie

  • Blink
    • Reduced the time until teleport 0.2s ➡️ 0.1s
  • Over the Moon
    • Increased damage buff 20% ➡️ 25%

Developer Commentary:
Evie is in a solid state (does Ice Block count?) but we feel that Over the Moon is underperforming slightly when compared to her other talents. Reducing the pre-fire (the time it takes before the ability activates) of Blink will be a nice quality of life change for Evie players.

Fernando

  • Aegis
    • Increased resource required to bring Shield up 15% ➡️ 20%
    • Reduced base rate of Shield resource generation by 11%
    • Increased time after taking damage before full rate of recharge begins 0.6s ➡️ 0.7s
    • NEW: Added a 1.5s delay after Shield is completely destroyed before recharge will begin

Developer Commentary:
Our statistics and player feedback align on the fact that the current iteration of Aegis is overperforming. Nerfs across the board as it relates to this talent aim to bring it more in line with other similar mechanics and his other talents.

Grover

  • Deep Roots
    • CURRENT: Crippling Throw will Root enemies hit and will Chain between nearby enemies up to 3 times.
    • NEW: Hitting an enemy with Crippling Throw will chain a lesser effect to up to 3 nearby enemies, Slowing them for 35% for 2s.

Developer Commentary:
Deep Roots allows for significant utility beyond the healing the living tree brings to the battlefield. It is frustrating to be impacted so often by this ability, especially as we have seen Grover’s playrate increase recently. This change is meant to still provide a significant utility benefit to picking Deep Roots, but help alleviate some of the frustration players are experiencing with this talent right now.

Octavia

  • Designated Sights
    • Increased damage per shot while aiming down sights 425 ➡️ 450
    • Increased maximum effective range 110 ➡️ 125
    • Slightly increased accuracy

Developer Commentary:
With her most recent changes before this update, Octavia was performing decently, but we saw a significant decline in playrate for this Champion. These changes will bring her slightly more in line with the rest of the damage cast.

Seris

  • Mortal Reach
    • Reduced the effectiveness of the Healing tick rate modification 25% ➡️ 20%

Developer Commentary:
Seris is currently able to put out a significant amount of Healing very consistently. We’re bringing that down for those who are taking Mortal Reach, and we’re keeping Seris on the list to watch for subsequent changes.

Sha Lin

  • Desert Silence
    • NEW: Reduces the Cooldown of Crippling Arrow by 1s. Crippling Arrow now Silences and Slows enemies by 15% for 2s.
  • Withdraw
    • Reduced Cooldown 12s ➡️ 11s
  • Rapid Shot
    • Reduced Cooldown 13s ➡️ 12s

Developer Commentary:
Desert Silence was underperforming when compared to his other talents, and Sha Lin needed a bit of love to bring him slightly more in line with the rest of the damage.

Skye

  • Smoke and Daggers
    • Base Healing per second 150 ➡️ 100
    • NEW: Smoke Screen no longer applies Invisibility to you

Developer Commentary:
Smoke and Dagger is overperforming, but it does provide an interesting and fun change to the way Skye plays. This change brings down its effective Healing at base, but also removes some of the utility that Skye would otherwise get in addition to the talent’s other benefits.

Strix

  • Talon Rifle
    • Reduced the time after a shot before you can shoot again 1.25s ➡️ 1.2s
  • Pistol
    • Reduced vertical and horizontal recoil by 15%
    • NEW: Now automatic — does not require individual presses for each shot

Developer Commentary:
We are confident in the change that we made to Talon Rifle in the last shift, but feel comfortable bring his refire rate slightly back up so Strix can be more in line with the rest of the damage Champions. In close-range encounters, Strix’s pistol handles pretty poorly. We don’t want to bring back the days in which his Pistol had the highest damage per second in the game, but we do feel that it could feel more effective at base.

Terminus

  • Power Siphon
    • Increased resource consumption 20%/s ➡️ 22.5%/s

Developer Commentary:
Terminus is a powerful Champion in both perception and in gameplay. Part of that is the nature of his Absorb. This change encourages players to be a little more mindful of his Siphon energy consumption and how they manage this ability.

Tyra

  • Nade Launcher
    • Reduced damage 700 ➡️ 650
  • In the Fray
    • Reduced scaling 5|5% ➡️ 4|4%

Developer Commentary:
Tyra has been performing a little more highly than we would like, and these changes are meant to bring her down more in line with the rest of the cast.

Vatu

  • Enveloping Shadows
    • Reduced effectiveness 15% ➡️ 12%

Developer Commentary:
Vatu’s Enveloping Shadows talent is overperforming when compared to his other talents, so this is meant to curtail its effectiveness in comparison.


BUG FIXES

Champions

Atlas

  • Fixed an issue where Atlas’ Unstable Fissure icon and description were missing from the in-game scoreboard if Atlas had that talent equipped.

Corvus

  • Fixed an issue where selecting the binding that activated Corvus’ Ultimate, Entropic Breach, while in the Spawn Room could lock Corvus out of using his Abyssal Reconstruction ability until he used his Ultimate in the match, outside of his Spawn Room.

Imani

  • Fixed an issue where the Swift Sear card would not function if Imani used her Inferno Cannon ability while in midair.

Pip

  • Updated the description on Pip’s Ultimate, Evil Mojo.

General

  • Fixed a height difference between opposite corners on the top section of the Capture Point on Foreman’s Rise (this issue prevented Yagorath from swapping to Planted Form on one corner but not the other).
  • Fixed an issue where the hover state on the “X” (Close) button on the “Earn Free Rewards” menu did not line up with its selectable area.
  • Fixed an issue where Gamepad players did not have a “Close” callout in the bottom left corner of their screen when inside the “Earn Free Rewards” menus.
  • Fixed an issue where Gamepad players would be unable to select the option to use a Skin Booster if they were previewing an unowned skin in Match Lobby.
  • Fixed various issues related to translation and message display errors.

New PS4 Firmware Update 9.00 Causing Issues Loading PSN Store, Connecting & More

Just a few hours ago, Sony rolled out the new PS4 firmware update 9.00, which introduced a few new features. Unfortunately, it seems to have caused issues as well.

Multiple reports on the PS4 subreddit thread have surfaced wherein gamers are having issues connecting to the PlayStation Store, connecting online, slowdown in navigating menus, and more. We’ve included some of the most complaints multiple users have experienced so far:

What’s odd here is, some users haven’t experienced any issues at all, while some can’t even connect online once they’ve applied the new PS4 firmware update. Fortunately for me, my PS4 is working just fine after the firmware update.

We’ll monitor the situation and will update if any new info surfaces. We’ve also contacted Sony, and will post an update if we get a reply.

MLB The Show 21 Update 1.16 Rolled Out for Update #16 This Sept. 15

San Diego Studio has released the MLB The Show 21 update 1.16 (PS5 version 1.016, Xbox version 1.0.0.82), and this is for game update #16! This includes fixes for Franchise mode, the UI and more.

FRANCHISE

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when pinch hitting for an out of position player in Manage Full Game
  • Removed the option to sign Free Agents in the off-season through the player search menu (this would sometimes result in the player being duplicated)

UI

  • Added a confirmation selection box when players select duplicate no-sell cards from Choice Packs
  • Fixed a bug where the player card would stay on the screen if the user pressed R2 and the Options button at the same time
  • Fixed a bug where player position would sometimes be blank on a batter walk-up presentation

MISC

  • Fixed an issue where some Xbox linked accounts would not receive game invites

There are no hitting or gameplay balance changes in this update.

NBA 2K22 Update 1.004 Shoots Out This September 15 (Update)

Visual Concepts has released the NBA 2K22 update 1.004 for next-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) this September 15. Upon checking, this doesn’t seem to be out for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch (still at version 1.02).

Update: Visual Concepts has acknowledged today’s patch, and it’s nothing more other than stability fixes:

Unfortunately, Visual Concepts has not released the patch notes for this just yet, though that should change later in the day. There are a few announcements made however regarding new challenges, etc.

The last patch released for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S was released last week, and added stability fixes, PA announcer fixes. If the PS4, Xbox One versions get patched today, we’ll let our readers know. Once Visual Concepts announces what’s in this patch, we’ll be sure to update the post.

PS4 Update 9.00 Now Available, Here’s What It Adds

To coincide with the release of the PS5 update, PlayStation has released the new PS4 update 9.00, which adds few new features.

Previously in beta, the 9.00 update is now out on the PS4. Down below you’ll find the full list of confirmed features that were added in this new update.

PS4 Update 9.00 Patch Notes

  • Ability for players to view their PS5 trophies on their PS4 profile and Trophy list.
  • Ability to view other player’s PS5 trophies on their PS4.
  • Party owners now also have the ability to disband a Party without having to remove players individually.
  • In Messages, if you’re the owner of a group, you can now delete it. Open the options menu, and then select [Delete Group]. If you delete a group, it will be deleted for all members.
  • Now when you block someone, you can choose to also leave the group that only you and they are in at the same time. You won’t leave groups that include other players.
  • When a child requests to use communication features for a game, their parent or guardian will receive a notification on the PS4 and PlayStation App.
