New PS5 Update 21.02-04.00.00.42-00.00.00.0.0 Now Out, File Size & Details Listed

As expected, Sony has rolled out the PS5 update 21.02-04.00.00.42-00.00.00.0.0 that adds M.2 SSD storage expansion support, UI/UX improvements, game base customization and lots more! Check out the full changelog/patch notes below.

PS5 Update 21.02-04.00.00.42-00.00.00.0.0 Patch Notes:

File Size: 913MB

PS5 UX Enhancements

The PS5 September Update features new UX enhancements that make it easier than ever for players to view, personalize and manage their game content and console experience:

  • Control Center customization. Players can now customize their Control Center more freely by rearranging or choosing which controls to hide or unhide at the bottom of the screen.
  • Enhanced Game Base. Players can now easily view and write messages to friends and Parties directly from Game Base in the Control Center.
  • Game Library and Home Screen updates. If you have PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game installed, they’ll now appear separately in the “Installed” tab of the Game Library and on the Home screen. Each game’s tile now also clearly indicates its platform.
  • Screen Reader controls.  Players can now pause or resume Screen Reader (Press “PS + Triangle buttons”) and have it repeat anything it reads (Press “PS  + R1 buttons”).

New Gaming and Social Experience Customizations

  • PlayStation Now resolution selector and connection test tool. PlayStation Now subscribers can choose between 720p or 1080p (depending on individual game) to accommodate their preferred video resolution for game streaming. A streaming connection test also helps them identify and troubleshoot any problems with their connection.
  • New Accolade Type: “Leader.” Following an online match, players can award others with a fourth accolade type, “Leader,” which is visible on players’ profiles.
  • Automatic capture of “personal best” videos. When players compete in challenges for a better time or a higher score and set a new personal best, a video clip of the action will automatically be recorded. Players can also share clips of their personal bests directly from the challenge card in the Control Center, or from their Media Gallery. Players have direct control over this functionality via their Captures and Broadcast settings.
  • New Trophy tracker. We’ve added a new Trophy Tracker that lets players quickly access up to five trophies per game through the Control Center.

3D Audio Support for Built-In TV Speakers

The PS5 September Update adds support for players to experience 3D audio through their built-in TV speakers. Once enabled in the Sound menu, this feature transforms standard two-channel TV speaker audio into three-dimensional sound, heightening the sense of gameplay immersion.* Players can measure the acoustics of their room using the microphone on their DualSense wireless controller to apply the 3D audio setting that’s optimized for their room.**

In addition, players with a Pulse 3D Wireless Headset now have access to equalizer settings within Sound Controls, allowing them to customize the sound profile according to their preference.

M.2 SSD Storage Expansion

Important: M.2 SSDs must meet the minimum performance and size requirements outlined on this page. Using an M.2 SSD also requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure (such as a heatsink) that meets the dimensional requirements. Please read the page linked above carefully before purchasing any M.2 SSD or cooling structure for use with PS5.

Rocket League Update 2.04 Kicks Out for 120fps Support Fix & More This Sept. 14

Psyonix Studios has rolled out the Rocket League update 2.04 September 14 patch, and this fixes the 120 frames-per-second suport on PS5, as well as removes voice chat from the game client on all platforms, and more.

Rocket League Update 2.04 Patch Notes:

CHANGES AND UPDATES

Voice Chat

  • We are temporarily removing voice chat with v2.04. As many of our players know, the current voice chat system is not up to modern standards, making it difficult to use in a fast-paced game environment. We’re also aware that some players experience performance issues when using in-game voice chat — some sort of mid-match lag or service disruption — and we do not want voice chat to hinder quality of play.
  • Earlier this summer, we said that we are working on bringing an improved, more comprehensive voice chat system to Rocket League. We are on track to bring voice chat back to the game in early 2022. We’ll share more details once we’re closer to voice chat making a siiick comeback next year.

[PlayStation 5] 120 FPS Support

  • [PlayStation 5] Fixed a bug preventing 120 FPS support on the PS5
  • Players on PS5 can now play at:
    • 4K at 120 FPS without HDR
    • 4K at 60 FPS with HDR
  • To play at 120 FPS, compatible hardware (HDMI 2.1-capable 4K/120 Hz display, HDMI 2.1 cable) is required
  • 120 FPS support also requires the appropriate video settings on your console. To change your Video Quality Settings on your PlayStation 5:
    • Go to Settings from the PlayStation 5 Home Screen
    • Select Screen and Video
    • Select Video Output
    • Set Enable 120 Hz Output to Automatic
  • HDR is disabled in Rocket League when 120 Hz is enabled. Rocket League will output at 4K at 60 FPS with HDR if Enable 120 Hz Output is set to Off. For more info, check out this PlayStation 5 4K Resolution Guide

Battlefield 2042 LCMG and Tank Customization Datamined Info Surface

While we still haven’t heard any concrete news about the Battlefield 2042 beta (or anything else for that matter), there are loads more info being unearthed via datamining, and this time, it’s about the Battlefield 2042 LCMG attachments, and tank customization.

Once again, it’s thanks to reliable Battlefield dataminer temporyal, we now have an idea of what the attachments and customization are for the LCMG.

There’s also info regarding the M1A5 and T28 tanks as well. These are from the Tech Test that happened a few months ago.

Same as with any datamined info, there is no guarantee that all the stuff listed here wll be available in the game’s final version. Some of these could be outdated items leftover in the files and whatnot. Just a little disclaimer for anyone treating this as official info.

Hades Update 1.03 Dashes Out This September 14

Supergiant Games has released the Hades update 1.03 (PS5 version 1.003) this September 14, and it’s for more fixes. This seems to be a console-only update, and doesn’t include any new features or content.

Hades Update 1.03 Patch Notes | Hades Update 1.003 Patch Notes:

This is what Supergiant Games has announced today:

Hades players on Xbox, we recently pushed an update that should address issues with achievements not always unlocking when expected. Thank you for playing! #HadesGame

That’s about it. We’ll be on the lookout if there are more changes that affect the PlayStation version of the game. If you spot anything, please let us know what you find down in the comments.

If you haven’t played Hades yet, you really, really ought to, as it’s one of our Game of the Year candidates! Our review is here, where we state, “Supergiant Games have done here is perfectly capture the roguelite experience, all while adding their own, unique twist in the mix, that not only works, but feels like a step forward for the genre as a whole. It sets a golden standard, one that hopefully others follow.”

Destroy All Humans 2 Remake Accidentally Announced by PlayStation, Here’s Our First Look

It seems someone controlling the official PlayStation Twitter has twitchy trigger fingers, as Destroy All Humans 2 remake has accidentally been announced!

Officially titled Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed, the original tweet has since been deleted, though we’re fortunate enough to grab some screenshots from the video trailer that’s still up.

Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed is being published by THQ Nordic, and is being developed by Black Forest (who also developed the first remake). No release date has been given yet, nor if the game is coming to other platforms (chances are, it’s headed to Xbox and PC, too).

The official reveal should be incoming soon, so lock in your blasters here on MP1st.

We reviewed the remake ofDestroy All Humans last year, and gave it a solid score in our review, stating, “Destroy All Humans! may not be a triple AAA killer, but it’s a great title that reminds of a time in gaming where developers took big risks. Some may view it as a game that never outgrew its time, but I’ve never been one to view games as serious if they clearly aren’t meant to be taken as such. Destroy All Humans! 2020 is a wonderful remake, one that will satisfy fans of the niche series. I highly recommend anyone wanting interested, as it will give you countless hours of mindless fun. ”

Thanks, chris_peacok1!

Here’s the announcement from Respawn Entertainment regarding this issue:

Looks like Rampart got to tinkering early

We’re currently investigating an issue causing @playapex players to not be able to load into a lobby after updating to the 10.1 patch. Updates to come as we have them.

That’s a bummer. We’ll be updating this post as more info surfaces, so check back regularly. It seems those who didn’t install today’s update can connect just fine. Hopefully, we’ll get a solution soon.

If you haven’t been keeping tabs, here are the new content coming in with today’s Evolution event:

  • Rampart Arenas Extravaganza: Rampart has slipped into the Arenas, offering modded weapons at special discounts. These marked-down modded weapons replace their base version for the match, making lower tiers of that weapon unavailable.
  • Rampart’s Town Takeover: Rampart is opening the mod shop of her dreams, Big Maude,  located near Lava City in World’s Edge. This custom shop includes a paintball course out front; inside, players can use collected materials to purchase Rampart’s Custom Modded Paintball Weapons from the new Vend-it Machines that come fully kitted at different tiers.
  • Rampart’s Heirloom and Updates: Rampart’s getting her own “Problem Solver” in the form of a brand-new Heirloom pipe wrench, complete with a gumball dispenser. Also, Sheila has gone mobile with the new update.

Destiny 2 Newest Exotic Ager’s Scepter Is Now Out, Check Out the Trailer

Destiny 2‘s Season of the Lost is a starting point for many firsts, including the new Exotics it introduces. The latest one is the first ever Exotic Stasis trace rifle called the Ager’s Scepter, and the ice-cold weapon’s Exotic Quest is now live for the game’s players.

To celebrate the release of the Ager’s Scepter, Bungie put together a short teaser on what Destiny 2 players can expect from the new trace rifle.

Below are some details on the Ager’s Scepter:

Destiny 2’s first Exotic Stasis Trace Rifle, Ager’s Scepter is now available for players to uncover in Season of the Lost. A weapon of great power locked away by Mara Sov for her brother Uldren. Guardians will need to untangle the layers of Awoken security and reach the Exotic weapon before it falls into the wrong hands.

Final blows from Ager’s Scepter create a powerful area of effect burst that slows nearby enemies. With the Catalyst, the Exotic weapon’s beam is empowered to slow and freeze targets.

Completing the Exotic Quest tied to Ager’s Scepter will also reward players the Triumph required for purchasing a special Ager’s Scepter beanie via the Bungie Rewards.

What do you think of this new Exotic? Will it be part of your arsenal? Let us know in the comments below.

Apex Legends Update 1.80 Patch Notes; Evolution Collection Now Live

Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends update 1.80 patch this September 14, and this is for the Evolution Collection Event! Not only do we have the patch notes, but we have a handy recap of everything new in case you just want to know that part.

Apex Legends Update 1.80 Patch Notes | Apex Legends Evolution Collection Patch Notes:

Recap of New Stuff:

  • Event-Limited Cosmetics: Unlock Legendary and Rare skins for Wraith, Octane, Pathfinder, Fuse, Bangalore, Rampart and Lifeline — giving us a glimpse into what our Legends could be with time and technology on their side.

BALANCE CHANGES

Rampart

  • Sheila has gone mobile!
    • Rampart will now be able to run around with Sheila out, and shoot while walking. The spin up is longer, and she only gets 1 magazine in this mode.
    • Once Sheila is out, you can put it away and pull it back out until you run out of ammo (or hit the cooldown time).
    • At any point, you can still place Sheila down for your teammates to use. Once placed, it has infinite reloads and acts just like the previous version. You cannot pick it back up.

Dev Note: A legend based solely on a defensive position is hard to get right in Apex Legends. We think Rampart has a place as the ultimate defensive Legend, but we wanted to give her a little more ability to be reactive and push with her team. As usual, we’ll be watching to see how this plays out and will adjust accordingly!

Revenant

  • VFX (similar to the pulse on Loba ult placement) added to increase visibility for when a totem is placed nearby.

Octane

  • Reduced jump pad horizontal distance by 10% – 15%.
  • Reduced the rate of Octane’s Stim regen from 1.5 to 1.0 hp/sec.

Bloodhound

  • When Bloodhound pings a clue from their passive, it will now show their teammates in quickchat how long ago the event took place

Bocek Compound Bow

  • Draw speed slightly reduced from 0.56 to 0.54
  • Arrows per brick increased from 14 to 16
  • Arrows per inventory stack increased from 28 to 32

Hemlok

  • Reduced hipfire spread
  • Hipfire resets slightly faster

Dev Notes: The Hemlok’s hipfire effectiveness was reduced a few seasons ago and since then the weapon has seen a steady decline in use. Bringing back some of that hipfire strength (but not all) should help the weapon feel more consistent in close quarters without being dominant or affecting its medium-range excellence.

Shatter Caps – Bocek Compound Bow

  • Damage per pellet increased across all draw strengths
    • Short draw damage: 4 to 6
    • Medium draw: 7 to 9
    • Full draw: 11 to 12

Shatter Caps – 30-30 Repeater

  • ADS Strafe speed increased to shotgun strafe speed while Shatter Caps are enabled
  • Charged pellet damage multiplier increased from 35% to 50%

Dev Notes: When Shatter Caps work they feel amazing, but currently it can still feel a little punishing to swap into the mode. Increasing the damage potential and improving the CQC flow of the 30-30 should help Shatters feel a little more accessible and rewarding.

L-STAR

  • Cool-off time slightly increased
  • Overheat lens replacement time slightly increased
  • Rounds before overheat reduced at base and all Energy Magazine tiers
    • Base: 22 to 20
    • White: 24 to 22
    • Blue: 26 to 24
    • Purple/Gold: 28 to 26
  • Arenas price adjustments:
    • Base: 500 to 600
    • Blue: 300 to 250
    • Purple: 400 to 350

Dev Notes: We’re nudging down the L-STAR’s core stats a bit to smooth out the power progression in what we think is a slightly more healthy top-end. We’ll keep a close eye on the L-STAR and it’s recoil as we enter the second half of Emergence. In Arenas, we’re well aware of it’s prevalence in high-level lobbies and are pricing it out of the first round. These changes essentially increase the blue cost by 50 and keep the purple price the same. If its pick rate remains unchanged, we will hotfix further adjustments.

Shotguns

  • EVA-8 and Mozambique headshot damage multiplier reduced from 1.5 to 1.25 bringing it in line with the Peacekeeper and Mastiff.

Dev Notes: The EVA-8 holds a lot of power in its speed and leniency compared to its counterparts, the PK and Mastiff. It’s got the edge with fire rate and consistency so we’re shaving off some of its spike damage to even the playing field. We’re normalizing the Mozambique as well for consistency within the shotgun class and to give the P2020 some space as the more precise early game weapon.

Triple Take

  • ADS charge time decreased from 1.0 to 0.8

QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES

  • Shortened the out-of-bounds timer from 30 seconds to 15.
    • Your timer should be reset after being respawned.
  • Swapping from Red to a Gold Shield with more health no longer requires a long press.
  • Evo Shields in deathboxes now show their health.
  • Early Leaver Warning has been improved to help people from accidentally leaving before their party is dead.
    • You now need to hold the confirm button down for a small amount of time
    • The highlighting is different colored than other prompts to catch your attention
    • Red text warning showing your leaving penalty added
  • Added character portraits to “detected” widget for recon characters.

BUG FIXES

UI

  • Fixed a bug where Streamer mode wouldn’t anonymize the names on the scoreboard in Arenas mode
  • Fixed issue for when players would randomly get un-readied while matchmaking in Ranked.
  • Fix for Ranked Arenas: longest win streak number was incorrect for some players when viewed in the Stats screen.
  • Fixed cases where players would still see Ranked icons when switching over to Arenas while inspecting personal stats.
  • Fix for cases where the player would still see the Abandon Penalty countdown when getting other messages like RECEIVED PREMIUM CURRENCY.
  • Removed the red speaker icon that would show up on the upper right corner of the screen that served no purpose.
  • Fix for when the Playlist Selector would sometimes flicker.
  • Players should no longer encounter a string issue in the Timeline when they have a “;” in their username.
  • Fixed cases where the name of killed players was not always showing up when a player died.
  • Fixed a rare bug that can cause the Observer to get stuck on the Intro Screen at the start of a match.

Fuse

  • Motherload ultimate will no longer highlight enemies far below the ring.

Seer

  • Increased the hitbox for Exhibit Ultimate to better match the model.

Loba

  • Loba can no longer glitch into Skyhook when using her tactical.
  • Fix cases for when Loba’s ultimate visualfx do not appear while aiming down sites.

Rampart

  • Fixed bug that could get players stuck under the map after dismounting from Ramparts Turret on a Trident.

Bangalore

  • Fix for the times when pinging a Prowler would trigger a voice line that mentions a removed hop-up.

Lifeline

  • Switch Only – Fix for cases where players couldn’t complete training due to her Ultimate malfunctioning,

Gibraltar

  • Fix for cases where it appeared that Gibraltar’s Ultimate caused dropped audio.

Wattson

  • Fixed a bug where Wattson would start matches with 30 fences.

Valkyrie

  • Fixed an exploit where players could get continuous missiles after exploiting Valkyrie’s passive/tactical as well as use the Vtol jets infinitely.

Sentinel

  • Fix for when players would still see “Amped” or “Revved up” from Sentinel or Rampage after swapping weapons.

Wingman

  • Fix for reactive skins, “Precision Calibur” and “Attention to Detail” where part of the skins appeared stuck in place when shooting.

World’s Edge

  • Various fixes on World’s Edge cleaning up some bad collisions, exploitable hiding spots, and areas where players could get stuck.

Firing Range

  • Fix for the mysterious fire show that could appear in Firing Range and cause a crash.

MISC

  • Fix for cases where players were able to reach farther than intended when punching an enemy player.
  • Private Match Fix – Observers should no longer get stuck on the intro screen for the duration of the match.
  • Fix for Audio fluttering that could happen when killing someone during self-revive.
  • Various fixes to improve overall game stability.
  • (PC only) You’ll no longer be able to bind forward movement to the Mouse wheel on PC. This previously enabled an exaggerated movement tech known as “Tap Strafing. See the dev note below for more context.

Also of note, the the “tap strafing” thing has been delayed to a future patch per Respawn.

Get out there and earn your rewards, legends!

Wingman

  • Fix for reactive skins, “Precision Calibur” and “Attention to Detail” where part of the skins appeared stuck in place when shooting.

PS5 September Update Out Tomorrow, and Here’s What’s Coming

Following big updates for its upcoming titles in the PlayStation Showcase, Sony now turns its attention to adding new features and enhancements to the PlayStation 5. The full PS5 September update is coming tomorrow, and below are the new features coming in this big update:

PS5 September System Software Update Patch Notes & Features:

PS5 UX Enhancements

The PS5 September Update features new UX enhancements that make it easier than ever for players to view, personalize and manage their game content and console experience:

  • Control Center customization. Players can now customize their Control Center more freely by rearranging or choosing which controls to hide or unhide at the bottom of the screen.
  • Enhanced Game Base. Players can now easily view and write messages to friends and Parties directly from Game Base in the Control Center.

ps5 september update

While viewing Game Base in full screen, players can also see how many of their friends are online, busy, or offline, as well as accept, decline or cancel multiple friend requests at once.

  • New Accolade Type: “Leader.” Following an online match, players can award others with a fourth accolade type, “Leader,” which is visible on players’ profiles.

ps5 september update

  • Automatic capture of “personal best” videos. When players compete in challenges for a better time or a higher score and set a new personal best, a video clip of the action will automatically be recorded. Players can also share clips of their personal bests directly from the challenge card in the Control Center, or from their Media Gallery. Players have direct control over this functionality via their Captures and Broadcast settings.

ps5 september update

  • New Trophy tracker. We’ve added a new Trophy Tracker that lets players quickly access up to five trophies per game through the Control Center.

ps5 september update

3D Audio Support for Built-In TV Speakers

The PS5 September Update adds support for players to experience 3D audio through their built-in TV speakers. Once enabled in the Sound menu, this feature transforms standard two-channel TV speaker audio into three-dimensional sound, heightening the sense of gameplay immersion.* Players can measure the acoustics of their room using the microphone on their DualSense wireless controller to apply the 3D audio setting that’s optimized for their room.**

3D audio via compatible headsets on PS5 has been a popular feature among fans and developers. We’re thrilled to bring this feature to life for players directly through their built-in TV speakers, in addition to the headset support that’s been available since launch.

ps5 september update

In addition, players with a Pulse 3D Wireless Headset now have access to equalizer settings within Sound Controls, allowing them to customize the sound profile according to their preference.

ps5 september update

M.2 SSD Storage Expansion

Starting tomorrow, PS5 players around the globe can expand their storage capacity with an M.2 SSD, a type of high-speed solid state drive that can be installed in the PS5 console or PS5 Digital Edition console.

Once installed in the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition console, M.2 SSD storage can be used to download, copy, and launch PS5 and PS4 games, as well as media apps. You can play PS5 and PS4 games directly from M.2 SSD storage and freely move games between storage options.

ps5 september update

Important: M.2 SSDs must meet the minimum performance and size requirements outlined on this page. Using an M.2 SSD also requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure (such as a heatsink) that meets the dimensional requirements. Please read the page linked above carefully before purchasing any M.2 SSD or cooling structure for use with PS5.

Here’s a look at how to install an M.2 SSD in your PS5 console:

PS Remote Play App and PS App Enhancements

  • PS Remote Play App over mobile networks
    • With the PS Remote Play app, players have enjoyed the ability to remotely stream and play PS4 and PS5 games, switch between games, and browse their console’s menus on any compatible device connected to their broadband network.*** Now, players using the mobile app for iOS and Android have the option of using a mobile data connection when WiFi is not available.
    • Broadband internet with at least 5Mbps is required for PS Remote Play. For the best experience, we recommend a high-speed connection with upload and download speeds of at least 15 Mbps.
    • To help manage the amount of data used through a mobile connection, players can select their preferred video quality for mobile data streaming.
    • Please note the quality and connectivity of your Remote Play experience may vary depending on your mobile carrier network and network environment.

ps5 september updateps5 september updateps5 september update

  • View Share Screen broadcasts on PS App
    • Starting next Thursday, Sept. 23, a PS App update will begin rolling out globally and give users the ability to view their friends’ Share Screen broadcasts together.
    • To start, join a party voice chat from your mobile device with a friend who’s playing on a PS5 console. Then ask your friend on PS5 to start their Share Screen broadcast. Please note, only players on PS5 can broadcast via Share Screen.
    • The Android version of the update is a phased release and may take one week until the update is available on your mobile device.

PS4 Console Enhancements

We’re also introducing some new features for PS4, including the ability for players to view their PS5 trophies on their PS4 profile and Trophy list. Players can also view other players’ PS5 trophies on PS4. On both PS4 and PS5 consoles, Party owners now also have the ability to disband a Party without having to remove players individually.

That’s about it for the PS5 September update.

Fallout 76 Update 1.57 Sneaks Out This September 14

Bethesda has rolled out the Fallout 76 update 1.57 patch this September 14, which is an unannounced title update. This has been released during today’s maintenance roll out, which should be over by the time you read this. Note that we just got the big Fallout Worlds patch last week, so don’t expect anything major outside of fixes for this patch.

Fallout 76 Update 1.57 Patch Notes:

Bethesda has not revealed what’s in the patch just yet, but it is a small download.

Per the community, here are the known issues that needs fixing ASAP:

Don’t forget, Season 5 has been extended for two weeks, as well.

Season 5 Extended Two Weeks

We’ve discovered an issue affecting Season 5 rank-ups, where players in some cases are unable to claim the rewards for ranks they purchased using Atoms. This does not affect rank-ups achieved by earning S.C.O.R.E., but we are working hard to get this fixed up as soon as possible so that all players can enjoy the rewards they’ve earned.

As a result, we have extended Season 5 by two weeks, until September 21. During the first week, rank-up purchases using Atoms will be disabled while we work to resolve the underlying issue, and you can continue to rank-up by earning S.C.O.R.E. from Daily and Weekly Challenges. During the second week, we will release our fix and re-enable rank-up purchases so that everyone has plenty of time to claim any rewards they unlocked during this two week period.

We know that many players in the community are excited to kick off Season 6, and we are too. However, we want to make sure all players can access their Season 5 rewards before we roll into the new Season. Thank you very much, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Chances are, we’ll be getting the full patch notes later today, and once we do, we’ll update the post, so stay tuned! If you notice any gameplay-related changes, or technical fixes, let us know what you find down in the comments below.
