Rumor: Call of Duty 2022 to Be a Sequel to Modern Warfare 2019

This year’s iteration of Call of Duty is yet to be released, but that fact does not seem to dissuade different insiders on theorizing the next title in the series coming in 2022. According to well-known insider Tom Henderson, Call of Duty 2022 will be a sequel to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019, which is under a codename called Project Cortez.

As with any kind of rumor or leak, take this one with a grain of salt, no matter how trusted the source may seem. That said, this Call of Duty 2022 rumor stemmed from the massive GeForce Now datamine earlier this week, which listed the said Project Cortez as one of the titles. The full list of datamined titles from the leak can be found here, and you can check out some apparent titles headed to PC like Sony’s God of War.

Publication VGC corroborated the leak, and they were the one who originally pointed out Project Cortez was in the GeForce Now leak. The publication also reported that this sequel will include a campaign involving US special forces fighting a covert war against Columbian drug cartels.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to be released on November 5, 2021 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

About Scarlet Nexus:

In the far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changed the world as we knew it. As humanity entered this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our only chance to fight the onslaught from above. Since then, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.

Featuring a dual story, begin your adventure with either Yuito Sumeragi, an energetic recruit from a prestigious political family or Kasane Randall, the mysterious scout whose power and skill has gained great notoriety among the OSF. As their different experiences interweave with each other, it is only then that you will reveal the full story and unlock all the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.

COD Vanguard Beta Impressions – World War 2 Warfare

Here we are: another year, another Call of Duty. This year, it’s Sledgehammer Games’ turn with Call of Duty: Vanguard. As is the norm every year, players are given a chance to test the game’s multiplayer out before it’s official release, and that’s just what we did with the early access beta.

First off, note that the COD Vanguard beta is not the complete version of the multiplayer mode. Lots of items are locked for higher levels, and we don’t have access to the full gamut of weapons, perks, streaks, maps, etc. In saying that, this impressions piece is for the Vanguard beta, and my initial take on the multiplayer.

Familiar Territory

Right off the bat, Vanguard feels familiar…maybe a little too much. In case you didn’t know, the game runs on the same engine as Modern Warfare 2019, and it’s pretty noticeable that it does. From the way characters are heavier compared to past Call of Duty games, to how the guns behave. If you weren’t a fan of MW2019, then there is a big possibility that you won’t dig Vanguard given the similarities.

vanguard v2 rocket

My take? I did eventually warm up to Modern Warfare 2019, though it’s far from being my favorite Call of Duty multiplayer experience. That said, the issues that I came across MW 2019 is present in Vanguard. Firing unsuppressed weapons won’t show that player’s location on the mini map unless you use the Radar perk. While you can run-‘n’-gun in Vanguard more than in Modern Warfare, it still feels like you’re being penalized for playing aggressively rather than, just sitting and peeking out windows and ledges to pick people off that are trying to run ‘n’ gun.

Another thing that’s back are doors and windows. If you hated them in Modern Warfare, well, there is a slight improvement that some parts of the environment (and windows) can be smashed. But doors themselves, though? Nope, they still present the same problems before as it did in MW 2019. They are still death traps that have another player waiting for you as you enter, and no way to turn them “off.”

Beta Issues

Given this isn’t the final build of the game, there are issues that are present that it would be odd not to mention. First off, the sound design is weird, as you can never tell where gunfire is coming from. I’ve had instances where the enemy was gunning down my teammate and I couldn’t hear their foosteps or even unsuppressed guns. I gather, enemies felt the same way as well.

Visibility is another major issue in the beta. Not only are enemies hard to discern from the environments, but Sledgehammer Games even included a haze and distortion effect when players aim down sight (ADS).

Thankfully, Sledgehammer has gone on record to state that they know about the audio and visibility issues, and will mend it.

However, one thing that might not be fixed are the game’s visuals. Simply put: Vanguard is not a pretty game. It’s not the WW2 aesthetic, but rather, how dull and washed out everything looks (on the PS5 version). This compounds the visibility problem a lot, and I have no clue if this is something Sledgehammer Games can fine tune come launch.

Pacing?

In the beta, Sledgehammer has revealed that it has labeled how each mode is played. There are Tactical, Blitz, and Standard. It’s supposed to let players choose how they want their matches. Blitz throws as many players as possible in a map (10-14 on each side by my count), and it’s sheer bedlam, as explosions, gunfire and more fill the battlefield. Tactical is more or less a slower version of Blitz, while Standard, is your typical 6v6 match.

I honestly didn’t feel any of the difference. Sure, there are more enemies in Blitz, but that’s about it. The map sizes seem to be the same, which means that in 6v6, it feels kinda empty.

There’s also a new mode introduced in Vanguard called Patrol, which plays out like Hardpoint but with a moving zone. It’s kind of nice in theory, but in actual gameplay? It misses the mark, as most players won’t cap the point given that it doesn’t add to your streak in any way, and it just tells enemies where you are.

Outside of that, you have your usual Domination, Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed modes. Of course, given how the game uses killstreaks instead of scorestreaks, except people to not go after objectives much, and just camp to get as many kills without dying. For those who played Modern Warfare, this isn’t something new, and it’s up to your own personal preference if you’re OK with it or not.

Possibly my main issue with Vanguard’s pace right now is, it’s SLOW. Throwing a frag grenade is slow, running or moving feels slow. It just feels like doing anything in the beta right now is slow, which pushes players to just not run, walk around while aiming down sights, and so on.

Incoming Fire

One thing Vanguard has over its predecessors is how much customization can go into your weapons. Primary weapons can be customized in 10 categories, which is the most in Call of Duty history if I remember correctly. The Gunsmith is ripped straight from Modern Warfare, though with Sledgehammer’s own take on a few gun attachments and perks. If you ever wanted to customize your weapon to the hilt, then this is the game for you. You don’t need to use Wild Cards, forsake perks, etc., just to fully kit your gear.

While weapon customization might be a step in the right direction, the gunplay is hit or miss. it’s not as satisfying as Modern Warfare’s, nor is it as snappy as Black Ops Cold War’s. Perhaps it’s the audio issue that’s making it fell that way? We’ll know for sure come launch.

For now, my main gripe with Vanguard is how familiar it feels, and how much it resembles Modern Warfare. I know, I know, complaining about things being too familiar in a Call of Duty game is laughable, but for franchise fans, each studio had their own identity. The moment you play a Treyarch-developed Call of Duty multiplayer game, you’ll instantly know. For Vanguard, parts of it feel like a Modern Warfare 2019 WW2 mod.

You have your basic killstreaks, perks, and whatnot, and most feel like a retread of Modern Warfare 2019. While that can be said for almost every COD game each year, there are always subtle differences that make each title’s multiplayer component stand out. For now, outside of the WW2 theme, I don’t see that in Vanguard.

War Never Changes

We have more than a month’s time before Vanguard is released, and it’s not like Sledgehammer will stop tweaking the game once it’s out. That’s the good thing since the devs can continually modify the game until it hits that sweet spot. That said, just based purely on the beta, I wasn’t blown away by Vanguard, and to be blunt, it’s the “oldest” feeling new Call of Duty game I’ve ever played so far.

Will Sledgehammer be able to tweak this in a way that can please everybody? Probably not. If you didn’t like Modern Warfare 2019, then chances are, you won’t dig Vanguard’s multiplayer all that much. As for me, while I learned to accept Modern Warfare 2019’s quirks in multiplayer, I can’t say if I’ll feel the same with Vanguard. For now, Sledgehammer Games has its work cut out for ’em, though I’m hoping that the beta feedback will be something the devs take to heart.

Jimmy Lara’s Take:

You know, it blows my mind with all the resources and all the money earned on the Call of Duty franchise, that the studios working on them still can’t figure out a good spawn system.

I’m not expecting a perfect system as that will never happen, but why is it that Call of Duty always seems to be getting progressively worse as the generations go on.

The Vanguard beta proved to me that this was going to be yet another COD game with a poor spawn system as countless times I would spawn directly in front of an enemy and die before even taking my first steps. It’s frustrating beyond all reasons, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s like that on purpose.

Again, I don’t expect a perfect system because I have played plenty of other multiplayer games where I had those instances, but they’re usually so far in between and not every other death. I just don’t get it, this is a multi-billion dollar franchise, give the players some sort of fighting chance, even if it’s a few seconds of immunity after spawning, anything will help at this point.

Then there’s the biggest issue that the last few Call of Duty games have been suffering from, visibility. Look, when someone says the visibility in Call of Duty needs to be improved, they don’t mean to make it super obvious by having characters glow like night sticks or something, it just means to make the environments more diverse coloring.

Just look at this, and try and count how many different shades of browns (I know there’s grays, but come on) there are in this picture. The answer? Too many.

Outside of that, I will say that, unlike Alex, I do really like the overall feeling of Vanguard. It has that similar weight that MW2019 brought with it, but more suited for running and gunning, which is the play style I like to lean in for Call of Duty. I think it feels just right, but there are some aspects that are slow that Alex touched upon, like grenade throwing and such.

Overall, I wasn’t too impressed by this year’s Call of Duty based on the beta. Maybe I will at release, but for me the setting of WW2 is a dull and boring one, but Sledgehammer has the opportunity to pump some renewed life into it. It’ll all depend on how much they take the feedback of its community to heart, or if it will release in a state that isn’t any better than what it is now. A lot of work is ahead of the studio.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is set for release this November 5 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

God of War Ragnarok to Have More Combat Setups for Kratos & Atreus; Will See More From Atreus’ Perspective

With 2018’s God of War moving away from the Greek mythology that it played with in the past three games and further north to the Norse lands, it makes sense that the setting will inevitably take place in the Nine Realms. However, the first game only explored six of the Nine Realms, namely Midgard, Alfheim, Helheim, Jötunheim, Niflheim, and Muspelheim, leaving three notable ones out.

The changes in the sequel, however, as confirmed by game director Eric Williams, is that God of War Ragnarok will explore all of Norse mythology’s Nine Realms, in addition to detailing how Atreus will perform in combat.

Here’s what Williams had to say about going to the Nine realms (via IGN):

“Going to all the Nine Realms, that was big for me making the old new again. Any realm you’ve been to before, because Fimbulwinter has struck, they’re changed in some way. It doesn’t mean that every realm is effected by snow, by the way. I think that’s a misnomer…Fimbulwinter is an event that changes the realms in different ways. Midgard is the cataclysmic epicenter, so it got permafrost, almost if you will.”

In case players are not aware, the three remaining Realms left to be explored will be Asgard, home of the Aesir gods; Vanaheim, home of Vanir gods; and Svartalfheim, home of the Dwarves. We know what happened when Kratos last visited the home of the gods in God of War 3, and it was not a pretty sight. It will be exciting to see how his journey will play out in these new Realms.

As for Atreus, Williams emphasized that Kratos’ son will play a larger role in the sequel gameplay-wise, as you can read in his quote below.

“The way [he and Kratos] link up, he’s grown up a little bit, so he’s got a lot more follow-ups and setups for Kratos. Creatures then obviously need to have tools to go against that, otherwise you’re going to destroy them. So creatures have new things that you’re going to need to think, ‘Oh, I might need to break them down with Atreus first, or do this with Kratos.”

In another interview (via GamesRadar), Williams talked about how Ragnarok will give us a different perspective from the last game — namely, Atreus’, and how it’s not just a kid watching adults talking.

“Last time, it was one kid with a lot of adults talking. This is like, well, there are some different perspectives. We’re gonna see it from a kid’s perspective in the world, figuring things out that they thought were black and white, or maybe much more gray, and a lot more family dynamics.”

God of War Ragnarok is releasing for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 sometime in 2022.

God of War for PC, Titanfall 3 and More Spotted on Nvidia GeForce Now Datamine

It’s not too late yet for PC gamers for a shot to play PlayStation-exclusive titles on their preferred platform, as a recent datamine points out that some heavy hitters on the Sony platform may be making their way soon to PC. According to a thread on Twitter, God of War PC may soon be a thing, in addition to Gears 6 and other big unannounced titles may be making their way soon to the platform. This information comes via a datamine of Nvidia GeForce Now. Reminder that as this is a datamine and not yet confirmed, take everything written with a grain of salt.

For those unaware, GeForce Now is Nvidia’s own cloud gaming service similar to Google Stadia and the upcoming Amazon Luna. God of War is front and center for the datamine, with the game prominently coming in for release on Steam. There are also other notable titles thrown in the mix, including the remasters of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. A Bioshock, Batman: Arkham Knight and Mirror’s Edge RTX Remasters were also uncovered, as well as a separate new Bioshock game coming in 2022. Another shrewd Twitter user listed the titles from the datamine, which you can check out below:

Deathloop Review – Dishonored on Time Crack (PS5)

Mostly recognized for their highly successful Dishonored franchise, Arkane Studios is back once more for yet another exciting new title, this time tackling the concept of time and loops with its anticipated game, Deathloop. While Bethesda has published shooters before, none are quite like this. Does Deathloop have enough variety in its gameplay to stand out? And can it be added to the list of PS5-only experiences that players need to play right now? The answer to those are a resounding “yes.” Curious? Read on for our Deathloop review.

Groundhog Day

In Deathloop, you play as a Colt, a character who has seemingly forgotten everything about himself, and for reasons unknown to him, is stuck in a time loop of having to relive the same day everyday, over and over again. If he dies, he wakes up back on the beach he started on, and if he makes it through a full day, well, he still wakes up on the beach.

Colt isn’t sure why this is happening, and despite having a complete loss of memory, he has implanted messages all over the mysterious island of Black Reef in hopes of guiding himself through this ordeal.

Unfortunately for him, he’s not the only one who knows he’s in a time loop, as antagonist Julianna is on a constant hunt for him; trying to change Colt’s mind about breaking the loop and just living out his eternal life doing the same thing everyday all while being hunted like an animal by the inhabitants of Black Reef. Yeah, no wonder he wants out despite not remembering anything.

That’s the premise of Deathloop, and anyone familiar with the roguelite genre knows that for every death had, and every step taken, the story of said game slowly begins to unveil itself. Deathloop is no exception to that rule. However, unlike many roguelikes and lites, Deathloop takes on the incredible, high praising planning system that was featured in Dishnored, and doesn’t entirely rely on being random.

Everyday, everyone spawns again, saying the same thing, and doing the exact same tasks. A tiring process to have to live through, but Colt isn’t one to follow those rules, and he has to face off against unique ability-enhanced humans called Visionaries, This begins the journey of a thousand loops in hopes of killing them all in a single day to break that loop.

This is all broken up into four different times of day across multiple stages in a single day.  At first, that doesn’t seem like much, and starting out it isn’t, as you’ll find yourselves hammering through the loops, making quick and easy progress. However there are only so many times before you realize that doing the same thing over and over again isn’t the answer, and it’s here that Deathloop truly shines, in not only it’s story, but also its robust, highly innovating gameplay.

Breaking the Loop

Deathloop, like many roguelites, embeds itself with the idea that dying, or completing a loop is critical to its overarching plot and gameplay. However, as I previously noted there isn’t a real sense of randomness due to the days being the same, outside of maybe a Visionary being in a different spot than last time.

That’s not a bad thing — far from it, because that same, incredible, free choice combat that the Dishonored series is known for is back and even more magnificent than ever before.

Depending on the way you play could alter the story and and therefore offer unique opportunities. I’m a full gun blazer myself, but if I wanted, I could go around sneaking and listening to the various NPC enemies. Doing so usually lead to side missions that will get me closer to a Visionary.

Sometimes it’s as simple as finding a hidden door, but more often than not, taking your time and exploring the vast segmented island of Black Reef leads to missions that’ll take place over multiple loops.

Deathloop

What makes this all so satisfying however is how everything ties into one another. For example: if on the first day I killed one of the Visionaries, then I could subsequently miss out on potential plot lines as that character is no longer part of the story.

However, on the other hand if I kept that Visionary alive, then I may end up missing out on other killing opportunities for other targets. There is a cause and effect play happening here, as every action does feel like it has a critical role in the story. I don’t think I’ve played a game quite like Deathloop before, at least in its massive scope.

Furthermore, while the day does reset, Colt possesses the ability to keep certain things intact. Some of these are story-related, while most are for gameplay. Weapons for example can be carried over, but not before infusing them with the games main currency. If you die, you lose that weapon completely unless it’s gone through the infusion process.

It’s the same deal with character abilities, which come in the form of slabs and are earned by killing Visionaries. Like Dishonored, players should expect to see some crazy abilities, from invisibility, teleportation, to telekinesis, and so much more. It won’t take long before you’ve become a complete master of these traits, wreaking havoc everywhere you go. I made it a priority to see just how fast I could clear a zone out without being detected. It’s just sheer fun.

With Dishonored I often found myself reseting a level just to replay it again with a different gameplay style. The same holds true here, only the loop aspect of it really helps as it allows you to continue playing over and over again, just to explore those different possibilities. You don’t need to restart because the game is going to do that for you anyway, so you might as well take the opportunity to see where those mistakes lead.

That’s a huge strength that Arkane Studio has masterfully delivered with Deathloop, and while the title does have a definite end, the journey to get to it is one that has many roads to take.

I will say, probably my only complaint I have about Deathloop is that it doesn’t do a very good job at explaining mechanics to the player. The start of the game feels like an odd one, because of how much it wanted to push us forward by telling us it’s okay to ignore exploration and just run through the campaign. It’s made clear real quick why, but the amount of tutorials and walls of text that get’s thrown in at the start did feel a bit overwhelming.

Thankfully, the game’s natural progression helped alleviate that as every loop after encouraged freedom, and exploration of all the unique mechanics.

One Loop I’ll Gladly Stay In

Deathloop, without question, is a groundbreaking masterpiece that has been beautifully crafted from the very talented developers over at Arkane Studios. Sure, you could argue that it’s basically Dishonored, but I’ve never pegged a title down for being more of what people loved.

This is the case of a studio understanding that, improving on every aspect of what they originally created, all while evolving it to newer heights. Deathloop is everything you would have hoped for (and more) from the makers of Dishonored, cementing their own studio status as one of the greats. Gamers, be excited, as while it’s been a long journey to its release, Deathloop is certainly one time loop you’ll want to experience.

Score: 10/10

Pros:

  • Core gunplay is fun, along with the arsenal of unwise weaponry. Arkane Studios sits alongside Insomniac Games for well crafted, outrageous weapons.
  • The story starts slow, but is told excellently through its loop mechanic. Everything feels like it has a reason for happening, and it pays off big ones pieces start coming together.
  • Player freedom is like no other game out there. The amount of ways to approach a situation is insane, giving gamers all the reason to go back to play.
  • All the characters, including the visionaries, feel relatable and are so much fun to observe on screen. While there aren’t any tear jerking moments, there are loads of smile inducing ones.
  • Black Reef Island is crammed with things to do and discover. Exploration is highly encouraged and pays off.

Cons:

  • Wasn’t a big fan of the multiplayer, so I didn’t touch much on it. You play as Julianna who is the main protagonist. There is some lore to be learned and fun to be had from this mode, but I would have much preferred a full singleplayer story for her side of the tale.

Shadow of the Colossus Assets, Concept Art Showcase Cut Colossi

It’s unthinkable to believe that it’s been almost 16 years since the original Shadow of the Colossus game came out for the PlayStation 2, and up to this very day it still remains as one of the most beloved titles in all of game history. With that said, it’s not far-fetched to learn that the game is still being datamined and studied to this very day, and the latest Shadow of the Colossus assets and concept art showcase more of the cut content and early storyboards for Team Ico’s opus. Check out the latest of these art assets below.

Shadow of the Colossus assets:

There are more images to be found here, but what’s most striking is the one showcasing this apparent Spider colossus. If you’re not aware, Shadow of the Colossus was supposed to have as many as 24 fights with colossi; however, technical limitations at the time stripped it down to 16. While everyone should take these images with a grain of salt, it’s worth noting that this Spider colossus is perfectly plausible given the various cut content in the game.

Project Eve Studio Shift Up CEO Gifts Entire Staff PS5s for Successful Unveiling

Last week, Sony presented its latest PlayStation Showcase where a new game titled Project Eve by Korean studio Shift Up was unveiled. It seems this announcement for the game went rather well enough that the studio’s CEO gifted the entire staff with PS5s for pulling it off.

As tweeted out by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, the lead of the company making the upcoming hack and slash action game took it upon himself to reward the staff with their own next-gen PlayStation system — all 260 workers and it looks like it’s was an early Christmas celebration for all of them!

As featured in Thursday’s PlayStation Showcase, Project Eve is described as a stylish action game that takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Here’s the synopsis of the game that accompanied the game’s first official gameplay trailer.

Project Eve is an action-adventure game that takes place in the not-too-distant future on the ruined Earth against unknown enemies. Accompany the powerful heroine Eve, join forces with comrades along the way, and take up the challenge against the tough adventure.

If you missed the action and stylish footage that debuted at the PlayStation Showcase, check out the Project Eve gameplay trailer here.

Project Eve has no release date yet and won’t be out anytime soon, but you can check out more information about this upcoming game from the PlayStation Blog.

LittleBigPlanet 3 Update 1.27 Shuffles Out for Online Services This Sept. 13

Sumo Digital has released the LittleBigPlanet 3 update 1.27 patch today, and this is to bring the online component back to players! Unfortunately, there is a downside, as LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS3, and even LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita now have their online services permanently shut down.

LittleBigPlanet 3 Update 1.27 Patch Notes:

Here’s the announcement from the developers:

Will LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS3 Be Back Online?

Based on the studio’s wording, nope. Servers are permanently shut down.

If you’re one of the people who still pay the older titles in the LittleBigPlanet franchise, this is a hard pill to swallow.

If there are gameplay-related changes included in this patch that’s not mentioned above, we’ll be sure to update the post. Feel free to leave a comment below if you spot any technical or gameplay changes.

Fortnite Update 3.30 Out for v18.00; Fixes & Datamined Content Listed (Update)

As expected, Epic Games has released the Fortnite update 3.30 patch this September 13, and this is for v18.00! On next-gen, this is tagged as update 1.000.041. Check out the confirmed list of fixes, and datamined content below.

Fortnite Update 3.30 Patch Notes | Fortnite Update v18.00 Patch Notes:

Update: Here’s the info straight from Epic Games via press release:

  • The Sideways” is a dark, monster-filled reality where gravity is very low and building is hindered. These Cubes are not only spreading corruption, but they’re also spreading portals to this mysterious world, known as “Sideways Anomalies”, and causing The Sideways to bleed into our world. With that, certain points of interest (POI) will also be altered by The Sideways in each match—these altered areas are called Sideways Zones. To fight these Sideways monsters, players should fortify themselves with Sideways weapons such as the Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun.

  • The Cubes are everywhere and with them comes corruption, which seems to be concentrated nearby the wrecked Mothership. Thankfully, some of the ship’s tech still works, so players will be able to use this to their advantage. Shadow Stones, which can be found scattered midst the rubble, will also come in handy as it will allow players to temporarily become a shadow-like apparition.

  • The Cubes are no joke, so we’re encouraging players to join the war effort and help direct it! Players will need to come together, donate Bars to construction sites for Turret Stations and decide which new weapons to develop and unvault. Speaking of weapons, the war effort’s fearless leader J.B. Chimpanski is bringing back some weapon favorites on the house including the Automatic Sniper Rifle and Harpoon Gun.

The official Trello board has not been updated yet, but once it is, we’ll update the post.

The list of fix from the Trello board:

Creative:

Players granted items are unable to switch between weapon slots when using controller input.

Description
Players using a controller will be unable to switch between different weapon slots if the Item Granter, Team Settings & Inventory, or Class Designer devices first equip any item that cannot be equipped (wood, gold, bacon, etc.)

Platform
All – Controller Input Only

Workaround
Creators should not set the Item Granter, Team Settings & Inventory, or Class Designer device to equip an item that cannot be equipped.

Fortnite v18.00 Datamined Content:

Here are some of the content dug up by reliable dataminers. We’ll be updating this post throughout the day, and will post an update if it’s finished.

COD Vanguard Smoke & Distortion Effects Obscure Your Aim, and Here’s How Bad It Is

While we’ve already talked about visibility issues in Call of Duty: Vanguard, playing the beta made me more aware of something else that’s making it hard to aim and shoot at enemies, and these are the gun smoke effects, and distortion effect.

If you’ve played the beta, aiming down sight (ADS), and then firing your weapon produces smoke to emanate from the gun’s barrel, which is what would happen in real life. However, in a video game though? Yeah, it’s not that useful. I was going to take screenshots of this, but thankfully, I didn’t have to, as YouTuber Xclusive Ace has noticed this as well, and even made a video about it.

Check out some of the haze and smoke effects that obscure your line of sight when targeting enemies:

For this second screenshot, Ace mentions that he has equipped the subsonic rounds, and the suppressor to minimize muzzle flash and whatnot.

If those smoke effects weren’t enough, it seems Sledgehammer Games has also included distortion effects when aiming down sight, too! Check out how the image seems warped in the screenshot below. Note that you can see this in the shot above as well (check the tire and how it looks warped).

The good news is: these are things Sledgehammer can tweak before launch, and the studio has already acknowledged that they are going to look into the audio and visibility issues. So there is a chance that this could even be a non-issue come November 5. That said, it is worth talking about, as it stands now, this is a big distraction especially when using LMGs at range. I’ve lost count how many times I couldn’t keep track of enemies due to the smoke effects getting in the way.

You can check out Xclusive Ace’s video about thsi below.
