Apex Legends Ranked Arenas Coming in Season 10, New Maps Takes Year & a Half to Make

Earlier today, EA held a panel called “The Future of First-Person Shooters” where DICE and Respawn Entertainment talked about Battlefield 2042, and Apex Legends. In it, Apex Legends Game Director Chad Grenier confirmed that Apex Legends ranked Arenas are coming this Season 10, along with other tidbits of new info.

The biggest news out of the show is that Arenas –which was introduced in the Legacy update — is getting a ranked mode in Season 10! For those not familiar with the mode, Arenas condenses the 20-team battle royale matches into more focused 3v3 skirmishes. You’ll be able to focus on just your enemy squad without being “third-partied,” with the goal to be the last squad standing after multiple rounds.

In the same stream, Grenier commented that each new map in Apex Legends takes the team roughly a year and a half to make given its complexities. As for the next upcoming legend, Respawn has confirmed that it will indeed be a male legend, though they didn’t want to elaborate more on it, and said that more will be revealed at EA Play this July 22.

Finally, Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella mentioned that the Titanfall and Apex Legends universe is something they have “big plans for in the future.” Does this include plans for Titanfall 3? One can hope.

Speaking of Apex Legends, the Thrillseekers event is kicking off next week! Read up about what’s coming right here.

Resident Evil 1 Remake Recreated as First-Person Shooter Using Unreal Engine 4

Fans of the Resident Evil series who always wondered how the original game would look as a shooter now have an idea, as Resident Evil 1 Remake has been recreated as a first-person shooter using the Unreal Engine 4 — making it a totally fresh and different experience for survival horror fans!

Developed by MoonGlint, check out the gameplay footage of the RE1 Remake first person shooter below.

While it’s only a portion of the game being featured that recreates the eerie mansion setting along with one lone zombie being dealt with handily by who can be assumed to be Chris Redfield, it’s a very nice looking first person shooter remake of the one and only first Resident Evil game. In fact, the 1996 survival horror original was intended to be in first person under the direction of Shinji Mikami, but technological limitations at the time forced Capcom and the production staff to settle for the third person perspective and fixed camera angle setup that became the original PlayStation release.

While this first person remake will probably never see the light of day, Residence of Evil is busy working on their own survival horror game called Vigil, while the Resident Evil franchise is still going strong with the newly released Resident Evil Village — which is getting a DLC expansion that was announced this past E3 2021 and you can read about here.

Apex Legends Down, Lobby Issues Surface (July 8)

Welp! Here we go again! Just days after Apex Legends got hacked by a “Save Titanfall” campaign, it seems Apex Legends down reports are once again surfacing this July 8! There are also lobby issues that are being experienced by players as well where they are getting kicked.

Apex Legends Down for July 8:

Multiple reports have surfaced on the game’s subreddit and more are popping up now:

Apex just kicks people out of lobbies
byu/J04K0CL inapexlegends

“server not found”
byu/muChipster inapexlegends

Fortunately, contrary to the Titanfall 2 issues console gamers are experiencing, Respawn Entertainment has commented on the situation:

We’re hoping this gets sorted out soon, and will update the post as more announcements are made by Respawn, so make sure to F5 this post from time to time.  It’s not mentioned if this is yet another DDoS (distributed denail of service) attack or something else, once we know more, we’ll let our readers know.

If you’re experiencing issues, please list down your platform and where you are, so we know who’s affected. Hopefully, all these issues are sorted before next week’s big Thrillseekers event starts.

  • Aetheric Attunement: Reduces the cooldown of your lantern ability by 10 / 15 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50%.

  • Boreal Might (Boreus gauntlets), Boreal March (Boreus boots), and Volcanic Treads (Charrogg boots) now have the Tenacious perk.

Gameplay

GAMEPLAY

  • Skarn weapons’ unique effect now grants a stackable 175 / 250 shield that lasts for 25 seconds (max 600 shields) after using your Lantern ability.
  • Valomyr weapons’ unique effect damage increased to 550 / 700.

The low-life builds with Wild Frenzy have dominated the meta for a really long time. Many players feel like this is the new standard for Dauntless. Outright removing Wild Frenzy and making other attack speed buffs conditional would have a major impact on the feel of the game. After some careful reflection, we’ve decided to increase the default attack speed on all weapons to give all players a higher baseline that matches the fast paced nature of modern Dauntless. We’ve also done a pass over all other attack speed bonuses to create a more consistent experience and added a new cap to attack speed to prevent extreme scenarios that introduce bugs.

  • Hammer and axe attack speed increased by 12%.
  • Sword, war pike, and repeaters attack speed increased by 10%.
  • Chain blades and aether strikers attack speed increased by 8%.
  • Attack speed from all other sources is now capped at +50%.

Aether Strikers

AETHER STRIKERS

  • Tempest Form attack speed bonus reduced to +15%.

Axe

AXE

  • The axe’s Vertical Ripper repeatable combo finisher attacks are now affected by attack speed perks (up to a limit of +105%).

Sword

SWORD

  • Increased Ardent Cyclone’s base damage per hit from 70 to 80.
  • Doubled the Ardent Cyclone’s bonus damage on its finisher.
  • Removed all meter gain while performing Ardent Cyclone.

Hammer

HAMMER

  • Molten Edict damage from fireball shots reduced by 33%.
  • Molten Edict damage from ground fireball reduced by 25%.

Lanterns

LANTERNS

  • Using an aether vent now reduces your lantern ability cooldown by 20%.
  • Aether wisps now reduce your lantern ability cooldown by 10%.
  • Lanterns no longer have tap abilities and have been replaced with omnicells active abilities.
  • Shrikes Zeal’s buff no longer stacks with other active Shrike lantern buffs.
  • Spiteful Onslaught now triggers on lantern hold instead of on tap.
  • Aetherdrive Tonic now increases the recharge rate of your lantern’s ability by 100% for 60 seconds.

Hunting Grounds

HUNTING GROUNDS

  • Elder and Primal Behemoths have been removed from all Hunting Grounds islands except for Paradox Breaks.
  • Paradox Breaks’ minimum level increased from 13 to 14, and the recommended level increased from 17 to 18.

The Hunting Grounds was designed to be a social experience that promotes drop-in, drop-out gameplay with other Slayers. After evaluating the data on how players engage with each other in this mode, and after listening to player feedback, we’ve decided that the danger meter wasn’t living up to our original design goals. In the end, it was causing too much friction when playing with others. This change will maintain the failure case on encounters while removing the pain points associated with other slayers going down around you.

  • The Danger Meter in the Hunting Grounds no longer increases when a Slayer is downed.
  • The Danger Meter in Hunting Grounds does not increase faster while Slayers are downed.
  • The Danger Meter in Hunting Grounds does not decrease when a Slayer is revived.
  • Raised the rate of Danger Meter increase in the Hunting Grounds.

Drask

DRASK

  • Drask’s head no longer deals damage during the tail swipe attack.

Skraev

SKRAEV

  • Reduced health on Stormclaw’s shock fences so they’re easier to destroy.

Miscellaneous

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Removed the Past and Future Talent Trees.
  • Added shiny new icons for Dauntless on consoles.
QUALITY OF LIFE

Gameplay

GAMEPLAY

  • Gruk-gruks and styxians now properly respect the territory of Behemoths, and will not engage with Slayers in melee with them. But as always, they will be waiting for their moment, lurking from the shadows…
  • Shields visual and sound effects now only play for 3 seconds when shields are applied, instead of persistently as long as you have shields.

Drask

DRASK

  • Added a new death animation.
  • Added new stagger animations.
  • Lowered the intro roar sound effect.

UI

UI

  • Players can now dye and transmog their armour during matchmaking.
  • Lucky Break menu now focuses on the last item purchased from Lady Luck after purchasing an item.
  • Menu now focuses on the closest item next to the last purchased item on the Store screen after purchasing an item.

Quests

QUESTS

  • Behemoths will not drop parts that are no longer used.
  • Dye rumours will no longer require Aetheric Crownplates and will instead require the Epic part from the target Behemoth.

Hunting Grounds

HUNTING GROUNDS

  • Added various alternate versions of out of combat music to the Hunting Grounds.

Cosmetics

COSMETICS

  • Fixed some emotes that would not be canceled when walking.

MALKARION

  • Malkarion’s lightning projectiles now have audio.

  • Fixed a bug where using Blitz and Frenzy tonics was not progressing quests.
  • Fixed a bug where Hunt Pass XP was unreliably counting towards quest and challenge objectives.

Hammer

HAMMER

  • Fixed a bug in Hammer specials that caused the ammo charge level to be incorrectly calculated.

Sword

SWORD

  • Fixed a bug where Overdrive would have a large pause during the combo’s animation.

War Pike

  • The war pike’s heavy whoosh audio now stops when dodging mid-swing.

Cosmetics

COSMETICS

  • The Beta Anniversary flare no longer displays the wrong graphic.

  • Fixed a missing unlock message when viewing gliders in the personality screen before they’ve been unlocked in the Slayer’s Path.
  • Fixed a bug where keystone Behemoth roars were not playing in the mastery screen or crafting menus.
  • The “Quests, Bounties, & Challenges” button text now fits properly inside the button in all languages.

Battlefield 2042 Will See Fan Favorite Maps Return in New Mode Confirmed

Revealed during the EA Play Future of First-Person Shooters stream, DICE has confirmed that players can expect some fan-favorite maps to return in Battlefield 2042!

This news comes from Ripple Effect Studios (formerly DICE LA) general manager, Christian Grass who briefly teased the new mode that the team is working on for Battlefield 2042.

So I can’t say that much about it, but what I can say is that one of the components in this experience that we are creating is that we are adding some of the fan favorite maps back into Battlefield 2042, but the entire experience you’ll have to wait a bit longer before we reveal

Rumors have floated before that this new mode is a “Battlefield Hub” of some sort, where previous franchise entries’ weapons, maps and more can be experienced by players. It seems to be a tall order for a mode, but it’s something players will be looking forward to for sure.

Does this mean we can expect Wake Island, Operation Metro, Operation Locker, and other maps to make an appearance? I sure hope so. While there are only seven confirmed maps available at launch, having fan-fave maps released throughout the game’s lifecyle should definitely help keep things fresh.

Enlisted Update 1.000.045 Patch Notes for July 8

Darkflow Software has released the Enlisted update 1.000.045 July 8 patch, which brings improvements to the missions, vehicles. and lots more! The complete patch notes are available below.

Enlisted Update 1.000.045 Patch Notes for July 8:

For the first time in the “Battle of Berlin” campaign an “Assault” mode mission with simultaneous capturing of two points will be added. The balance of both sides has been improved for already existing Berlin battles and additional cover has been added.

Additionally the respawn window has been improved. Selected squads will no longer be reset if the selected respawn point is no longer available.

Tankers will be delighted with many fixes to armored vehicles and the implementation of a turret control mechanism from the commander’s view. Many interesting fixes and improvements are included in the full patchnotes!

IMPROVEMENTS

Locations and missions

  • The new mission “Ministry Garden (Assault)” has been added to the “Battle of Berlin” campaign.
  • Additional cover has been added for the missions “Lehrter Bahnhof (Invasion, Conquest)” and “Ministry Garden (Invasion)”.
  • In order to improve balance the system of awarding respawn points has been adjusted when the point has been captured by an attacking team in the (Invasion) and (Assault) game modes.
  • Balance improvements for the (Invasion) missions in the “Battle of Berlin” campaign: the time required to capture some strategic points has been increased.

  • The commander position is now considered a priority and players will occupy it first. Commander optics allow for the most efficient control of the vehicle’s movement. Crew members will take their positions in the following order: driver, commander (if not occupied), gunner. If a player enters the vehicle, AI-soldiers will move from the commander position. If only two crew members remain, an AI-soldier will occupy the driver position, leaving the gunner position free and available to be swapped.
  • The display of the camouflage and coloring on the vehicle icons have been added.
  • The sight indicating the direction where the tank turret is facing is now indicated by a special marker – if the player takes the place of the tank commander.
  • T-60 – The gunner now has the ability to climb out of the hatch. The control of the cannon and turret will be disabled during this process as there is no one to control them.

Space Punks Crossplay Planned for Console Launch

While the console versions of Space Punk won’t be seeing a release till 2022, developer Flying Wild Hog Games mentioned  that Space Punks crossplay will be coming alongside the console release of the game.

In our one-on-one interview with Lead Programmer Dawid Romanowski, Dawid confirmed that the team is planning to add crossplay to Space Punks right around the time of the 2022 console launch. No further details were revealed, though we do expect that crossplay will be across every available platforms.

About Space Punks:

Space Punks is a Sci-Fi isometric shooter with nonstop action as you take on the galaxy for fame and glory.

Fly solo or team up with up to three of your favourite misfits for maximum impact as you take on over-the-top gigs. Use plunder from missions to upgrade your arsenal and become the ultimate galactic badass.

With endless rewards, ranks, and ways to play, Space Punks is the wild ride you’ll never want to hop off. Strap in – it’s time to play.

Of course, do mind that while crossplay is confirmed at this time, it doesn’t mean that this will be the case down the road, or at least at the launch of the console version. With Space Punks currently running in early access on PC, much can change over the course of the year. While we don’t expect crossplay to be cut, since there are no indications, it is possible that it might miss the launch window of the console release. Again, this is being stated due to the ever changing development cycle of a game. Once we get closer to those console releases we should have more concrete information.

Space Punks early access begins July 14 with a planned open beta launching this Winter. The full launch, which will be free-to-play is expected to launch in 2022 with the console versions.

Space Punks Is an Epic Game Store Exclusive for 1 Year, Early Access Founders Packs Detailed

Space Punks early access is now available to purchase, exclusively on the Epic Game Store.

In a media briefing that MP1st took part in, publishers Jagex revealed some details around Flying Wild Hog’s upcoming ismotetric looter shooter, Space Punks. While we’ve known for a few days now that the title would be launching in an early access phase, with the full release coming next year, what we didn’t know is where exactly it had planned to launch. Well thanks to information provided to us during the briefing, we can confirm that Space Punks is indeed an Epic Game Store exclusive.

To talk a bit about this deal, Jagex own VP of third-party and partnership, Jeff Pabst had this to say during the briefing.

“We’re delighted to announce that we’ve signed an exclusive deal with Epic Game Store for the PC launch of Space Punks, for both early access and open beta. The deal is for 12-months…we’ll be launching Space Punks on Jagex own platform when the time is right.

There are many great things about having Epic Games as our launch partner for Space Punks. Not only do we benefit from their skills and expertise in helping games reach a massive audience, it shows huge faith in a game we absolutely love and can’t wait to get it into the hands of players around the world. We believe independent studios can benefit from platforms and publishers that allow their vision become a reality, and then the player benefits and so does the wider industry.”

For those wondering, the open beta will be launching this Winter on the Epic Game Store. As we previously revealed, Space Punks early access is launching next week on July 14. There are a couple of different ways a player can participate in the early access phase of Space Punks, one by following Flying Wild Hog social media accounts for a chance to win a code, while the other is through purchase of one of the two founder packs. Details on those packs can be found below.

Knockout City Update 1.40 Patch Notes; Official 1.4 July 8 Changes

Velan Studios has released the Knockout City update 1.40 July 8 patch, or what the studio calls update 1.4! This brings changes to matchmaking, and a slew of bug fixes, and gameplay-related changes.

Knockout City Update 1.40 Patch Notes | Knockout City Update 1.4 July 8 Patch Notes:

KNOCKOUT CITY CHRONICLE #5.1 – THURSDAY, JULY 8, 2021

Hey there, brawlers! Patch 1.4 is now live! This round of fixes and features addresses several in-game issues brought forward by members of our community. Thank you all for continuing to communicate with us as we continue to work to give you the best experience! What updates can you look forward to? Read on and find out!

PATCH 1.4

Bug Fixes

  • Previously completed crew contracts should now count as progress for the “Season Reward” crew contract. Your progress should update in this contract next time you boot up the game—please let us know if you continue to experience issues!
  • Improved match loading logic to fix an issue where some players could not load into the match until after the intro cinematic
  • Fixed an issue where fake-throwing a Sniper Ball at full charge while swapping enemies would erroneously keep the full charge
  • Fixed a rare issue where a player’s Street Rank would be displayed as level 1 upon match completion
  • Fixed an issue that could make players get stuck in walls in Knockout Roundabout
  • Players are once again able to use in-game code redemptions
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the Nintendo eShop became unresponsive when trying to buy Holobux from the in-game store
  • Progress is now properly tracked for the crew contract “Special Blaster” when scoring KOs using the Bomb Ball or the Cage Ball
  • Fixed localization of the Deluxe Edition in the Epic Store
  • Cage Ball will no longer briefly become stuck to players feet after breaking out

Features

  • Hero Bonus: Now, when you join a match that is already in-progress, you will receive a 100 XP Hero Bonus for completing the match! Remember that for matches you join in-progress, a loss will NOT be counted against you in League Play or even in Contracts that may be tracking win streaks. If you win, though, it WILL count as a win for League Play or streaks! So, together with the Hero Bonus, there is no reason not to help out the team you joined and finish the match!
  • We’ve continued to make improvements to finding the best data center region to use for matchmaking. The game now sends more information about its connection to multiple regions so that our servers can be smarter about finding the best region. We’ve also increased the number of parameters that we can tweak on our servers. This lets us make improvements with a faster turnaround time as we learn more about player experiences.
  • An updated Quit Match pop-up makes sure players know that quitting a match will make them lose out on match rewards and receive a quit penalty.

For the in-depth explanation on Knockout City matchmaking, head on over here.

Apex Legends Thrillseekers Event Kicks Off Next Week With New Arena Map and Skins

All you Apex lLgends players out there, get ready as next week we’ll see the launch of a new in-game event. Here’s everything you need to know about Apex Legends Thrillseekers event.

Kicking off on July 13 and running until August 3, Apex Legends Thrillseekers Event will see a number of new rewards, including a new legendary skin, along with a new arena map. The full details can be found below, along with a short trailer.

Apex Legends Thrillseekers Event Trailer

Event highlights

  • New Arenas Map: Overflow – Overflow differs from other Arena maps by being lane focused, where each location is separated by tall, lava-filled structures. Due to the separation, players will need to stay vigilant before committing to a side or risk being flanked. This map marks the 7th map added to the ongoing three map rotation, highlighting the ever evolving eco-sphere that is Apex Legends.

  • Rewards Track – Each week of the event offers back-to-back rewards tracks. Week one gives players a chance to unlock the Rampart Wastelander Set, which includes a matching gun charm, weapon skin and a Legendary Rampart skin. Week two grants Battle Pass boosters, crafting metals and Apex packs. Week three includes the Lethal Enforcer Bangalore Skin and more.

  • Thrillseekers Cosmetics and Summer Splash Sale – Kicking off July 13, the Summer Splash Sale will run through July 27, bringing back fan-favorite skins including Youngblood and Voidwalker, in addition to running sales on Apex packs.

Full event details.

NEW ARENAS MAP: OVERFLOW

The floor is lava! Well, some of it, anyway.

Overflow differs from other Arena maps by being lane focused; where each location is separated by tall, lava-filled structures. With this separation, players cannot easily spot early decisions made by the other team and will need to stay vigilant before committing to a side or risk being flanked. While there are opportunities for long-range engagements, combat tends to favor short-to-medium ranges along either POI: Overlook or Slope.

Overlook is a long, open area with a central interior that gives a height advantage over this POI. While this area is perfect for snipers or DMRs, players may want to hold the interior to control not only this area but their flank as well. Slope, as the name implies, offers both a high ground and a unique area where players can slide down to a remote part of the map. This area can be used for sneaky flanks or defensive setups where players may not expect it.

Overflow feels pretty different from our other maps, and our hope is that it will feel rewarding for both defensive and aggressive players alike. Let us know what you think!

WEEKLY REWARDS TRACKS

Let’s talk about the good stuff: unlockables. For the three weeks of the event, we’re running back-to-back rewards tracks:

  • Week one gives you a chance to unlock the Rampart Wastelander Set, which includes a matching gun charm, weapon skin, and a Legendary Rampart skin.
  • Week two grants Battle Pass boosters, crafting metals, and Apex packs.
  • Week three includes the Lethal Enforcer Bangalore Skin, along with other goodies!

You can earn over 1,000 points per day and challenges refresh daily. There are also stretch challenges that reward four unique badges if you complete them during the event. All of these challenges also stack with your Battle Pass, so you can complete multiple at once.

There will also be three specific badges you can unlock—one each week—for reaching certain milestones in Arenas:

Week 1 Badge: Play 20 Arena Games Total

Week 2 Badge: Get 100 Knockdowns Total in Arenas

Week 3 Badge: Deal 12,000 Damage Total in Arenas

THRILLSEEKERS COSMETICS AND SUMMER SPLASH SALE

Also kicking off on 7/13 is The Summer Splash Sale. For a couple of weeks, we’re bringing back fan-favorite skins—including Youngblood and Voidwalker!—and running some enticing sales on Apex packs. Check out the store once the event begins and check back daily to see what we’ve got. The Summer Splash Sale runs until 7/27.

All these cosmetics are Event Limited. They may return in a future event or promotion.

There you have it, everything you need to know about the Apex Legends Thrillseekers event. Is there anything exciting you see here that you plan on earning, or buying next week? Let us know!

Once the title update is out for the event, we’ll have it up on the site ASAP!

PS5 Update 2.1.01-03.21.00.00-00.00.00.0.1 Released for July 8

Sony has released the PS5 update 2.1.01-03.21.00.00-00.00.00.0.1 today! It’s a small download clocking in at 900MB, and as one might expect given it’s an unannounced firmware update, there are no new client-facing features included.

PS5 Update 2.1.01-03.21.00.00-00.00.00.0.1 | PS5 Update 2.1.01-03.21 Patch Notes:

  • This system software update improves system performance.

Yep, that’s about it. But given Sony has opened up beta sign-ups for PS5 firmware updates last month, we should be getting something meatier later this year. We’re keeping an eye on the PS5 firmware page and will update the post if Sony posts anything substantial.

Don’t forget, there’s a State of Play happening later today where we’ll see Deathloop and other third-party titles showcased. Sony also launched a massive PlayStation Store sale yesterday too, which houses over 300 discounted games.

In addition to posts on Reddit, people have also vented on Twitter regarding the DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks, matchmaking issues and more:

https://twitter.com/StickyPilot/status/1412897439716048898

While Respawn Entertainment has acknowledged the Apex Legends server issues a few days ago, there hasn’t been a statement regarding today’s Titanfall 2 outage.

If Titanfall 2 is working (or down) for you, let us know where you’re located and platform down in the comments. Hopefully, this gets resolved soon. We’ll be updating the post as more news surfaces.

Don’t forget, there’s a digital panel tomorrow where DICE and Respawn will be taking the stage to talk about the “Future of First-Person Shooters.” Maybe they’ll touch on the issues regarding Apex Legends’ and TItanfall 2’s server woes there.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online Will Receive NVIDIA DLSS Support on July 13

After announcing that it will bring a number of upgrades and new content with its latest update in a few days, Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online will receive NVIDIA DLSS support on July 13!

As something that PC users will definitely be appreciative of, NVIDIA DLSS support will turn up the knob in frames per second and quality — which should spell great things for those who love their graphics and quality to be top notch.

As part of the July 13th update, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online on PC will offer NVIDIA DLSS support to all Windows users with eligible NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards. The newly supported feature boosts frame rates and generates beautiful sharp images.

While that’s certainly great news for those looking to see the game in the highest quality possible, don’t forget that it’s also about the gameplay and experience that the game has to offer — which RDR2 is after garnering rave reviews back in 2018. It’s definitely up there among the must play sandbox games that recreates the old west experience, and Red Dead Online also something to check out for those who want to venture beyond the story.

Check out the Red Dead Online Blood Money trailer and details here, as well as the Quick Draw Rewards and more info here.
