Rumor: Call of Duty 2021 Will Feature a WW2-Themed Warzone Map at Launch, Will Share Tech With Modern Warfare Engine

Call of Duty 2021, allegedly called Call of Duty: Vanguard, will skip the all-digital E3 show this year per a new report, but Warzone fans are in for some good news, as Sledgehammer Games is reportedly planning to have a World War 2-themed map at launch for Warzone!

Initially reported by (VGC), Call of Duty 2021 will be skipping E3, as it prepares for Vanguard’s launch. The release is still expected to come by late November, and it will include new vehicles and “a significant amount of content planned.”

VGC was informed that both Vanguard and Warzone will be sharing the same technology with the Modern Warfare engine.

Vanguard will feature a campaign, multiplayer and zombies modes set in the European and Pacific theatres of World War II, with its plot centring around the birth of modern allied Special Forces.

The Vanguard map, according to the same report is expected to be larger than Warzone’s Verdansk map, which is contrary to earlier rumors on how it will be smaller. Regardless though, this  should be a godsend for those getting tired of Verdansk.

Report: Battlefield 2042 Will Feature a Level Editor

With today’s Battlefield 2042 reveal, a ton of info has surfaced like the maps and modes, the game’s pre-order bonuses and more! One thing that might have escaped the eyes of players though? It looks like a Battlefield 2042 level editor (read: map editor) is in the cards, too!

Over on the game’s official Steam page, one of the features it has includes a “level editor” that for some reason, got mysteriously removed! Thankfully, a screenshot was obtained.

We’re uncertain why the mention of a level editor was pulled out, perhaps it’s for a later reveal? It’s not known yet whether this is just for the PC version of the game, or will be available for consoles too.

Given the game is launching with just seven maps, the inclusion of a map editor is huge, as the community will for sure create their own levels that will drive up the player count (even if it’s an unofficial one). The last Battlefield game to feature a map editor was Battlefield 2 for the PC, with the feature slowly phased out with the popularity of Season Passes, map packs and the like.

Here’s to hoping we’ll get to see some amazing maps from the community!

Battlefield 2042 Maps & Modes Revealed, 7 Maps Available at Launch

Not only did EA unleash the Battlefield 2024 trailer today, but a deluge of info has dropped as well! The Battlefield 2042 maps have been revealed, and there are seven in total so far! Read on for the details on each, as well as the game modes available at launch too.

Battlefield 2042 Maps & Modes:

Orbital:

Kourou, French Guiana

It’s a race against time and hostile conditions as you fight around the site of an imminent rocket launch. Watch out for both enemy fire and upcoming storms on this dynamic map.

Hourglass:

Doha, Qatar

Fight in a city lost to the desertification around it. Massive dust and sand storms are constantly rolling in, blotting out the natural light, as you battle for control of a convoy trapped in the shifting sands.

Kaleidoscope:

Songdo, South Korea

In a state-of-the art metropolis in South Korea, zipline between skyscrapers and fight among the plazas surrounding the city’s iconic data center

Manifest:

Brani Island, Singapore

Watch out for tropical tornadoes and navigate through maze-like cargo containers in this key trade location, vital to American supply lines.

Discarded:

Alang, India

Along a strategic section of India’s west coast, colossal ships stranded on the beach are being stripped for parts. Fight among the hulls of these behemoths while adapting to deadly storms.

Breakaway:

Queen Maud Land, Antarctica

Tread carefully on this dynamic map, where oil extraction has turned the freezing area to a strategic hot spot. Take advantage of destructible fuel tanks and silos that create debris fields and permanent fires when destroyed.

Renewal:

Eastern Desert, Egypt

A giant wall, built to secure rich, man-made agricultural areas, takes center stage on this intense map. Prepare for the extreme conditions, deploy, and secure the access points and massive gates in the wall.

As for the game modes, EA has released details on a few, with one mystery mode set to be revealed this July 22 at EA Play!

Game Modes (Confirmed):

CONQUEST

Battlefield’s massive, iconic sandbox mode returns – this time supporting 128 players on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®5, and PC. The maps have been specifically designed for this vast scale, with action divided into “clusters” of various kinds. Also, the action now centers around sectors consisting of several flags instead of individual control points.

BREAKTHROUGH

The return of Breakthrough sees two teams – Attackers and Defenders – battle over larger-scale sectors as the Attackers push towards the final objective. Each sector is designed to house a larger number of players, enabling more strategic choice and more flanking opportunities. Approach the capture areas from multiple locations and take advantage of more types of tactical possibilities.

HAZARD ZONE

An all-new, high-stakes, squad-based game-type for the Battlefield franchise that is a modern take on the multiplayer experience that is distinctly DICE but very different from All-Out Warfare’s Conquest or Breakthrough modes.

There is one mode still to be revealed, and it’s not mentioned whether Rush will be making a return. That said, given the state of multiplayer games these days, we’re expecting more modes and maps to be added in the coming weeks and months.

Battlefield 2042 Closed Playtest Begins in July for a Limited Amount of Battlefield Veterans, FAQ Revealed

It seems that some players may be getting the chance to play Battlefield 2042 a bit early as EA and DICE have announced a limited Battlefield 2042 closed playtest, along with other details about the game.

As spotted on the official Battlefield 2042 website, DICE and EA have outlines a technical test that they plan on running sometimes in July. Note, this playtest is not a Alpha test like the company has done with past Battlefield games as it will be done in a closed setting using a “grey box environment” of the game.

Battlefield 2042 is set to execute a closed Technical Playtest in early July where we’ll collect player feedback and intel from our Player Council, a group of Battlefield veterans we’re working with to provide insight on the game as launch approaches. This will all be done in a closed environment, under NDA.

Currently, we’re planning on showcasing the map Orbital in a 128-player Conquest experience where we’ll be mainly testing matchmaking, party/squad joining, and load times.

The Technical Playtest will give a few players their first chance to experience Battlefield 2042 and test out some of our newest features, including the handful of Specialists available: Mackay, Boris, Falck, and Casper. Testers will also try a variety of the game’s new weapons, Specialties, and vehicles, including the M5A3 and AC42 Assault Rifles, the Ranger, and the return of helicopters and jets with the F-35E Panther and MV38-Condor.

This closed Technical Playtest is intentionally running in a grey box environment to achieve our development goals around server loads, player experience, and rendering performance. The playtest will be different than those we’ve run in the past, and will be a grey box landscape for a few different reasons, like validating our back end systems and matchmaking. This playtest is designed with very specific technical goals and is not a representation of Battlefield 2042 in its current state.

Furthermore, the company has also revealed the official Battlefield 2042 FAQ page, answering some of the game’s biggest questions.

What is the purpose of the Technical Playtest?

Through player feedback and other means, we’ll focus on validating our core gameplay loop, technical performance, and stability in order to deliver a great experience for players at the launch of Battlefield 2042.

Wasteland 3 Update 1.17 June 9 Brings The Battle of Steeltown

Developer inXile Entertainment has released the Wasteland 3 update 1.17 June 9 patch, and this is for The Battle of Steeltown DLC! Check out the details below, along with more info regarding the DLC, which has been available for PC since last week.

Wasteland 3 Update 1.17 June 9 Patch Notes:

For now, nothing gameplay-related when it comes to Wasteland 3 changes have been revealed, but we have the gist when it comes to the new stuff included in the DLC!

The Battle of Steeltown launches in just a couple weeks on June 3 and we’re here with a video overview of what you can expect when you arrive. A factory complex that keeps Colorado running, and the Patriarch in power, Steeltown is an integral piece of the Wasteland 3 story. But solving problems is what the Rangers do best, and the Desert Rangers always persevere.

You should also check out the weapons and combat mechanics down below as well.

The Battle of Steeltown (live now on PC and coming June 9 to consoles) brings with it some of the most dynamic and challenging tactical combat seen yet. Thanks to ingenuity of the Steeltown workers, your squad of Rangers will be put to the test as they attempt to quell the rebellion and get Steeltown running again.

The workers of Steeltown are fighting for better working conditions, the bosses want them back to work, and they’re in a volatile stalemate as neither side is budging. The Rangers are stepping in to try to resolve the situation but are going to need to deal with trigger-happy workers. Whether you choose a non-lethal approach or not, the Steeltown workers come packing new weapons and tactics that will challenge your team’s combat prowess.

Here’s Game Director David Rogers to give you a brief overview of what you can expect.

For more on the combat mechanics, head on over here.

If there are gameplay-related changes included, we’ll update the post.

Biomutant Update 2.03 June 9 Scurries Out

Experiment 101 has just released the Biomutant update 2.03 June 9 patch today, and this is after the big 1.4 patch released earlier this week. As one might expect, there’s not a lot in this patch outside of stability fixes.

Biomutant Update 2.03 June 9 Patch Notes:

THQ Nordic has updated the 1.4 patch notes and posted the following:

Update June 8th 2021; We just released a small hotfix (1.4.1) on PlayStation to address the increasing number of stability issues after patch 1.4 on PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5.

So far, that seems to be it. We’re keeping an eye out on the game’s social media account, and if there are any new developments, we’ll be sure to update the post.

If you haven’t bought Biomutant yet, go read our review right here, where we state, “It’s clear that Experiment 101 took inspiration from many games and tried to put it all in one nice package, but in the case of Biomutant there is just too much of too little.”

Report: Battlefield 2042 Battle Pass Confirmed, Beta Early Access and Perks Outlined for “Members”

Following the Battlefield 2042 leak from Origin before today’s official reveal, it looks like more details have been revealed, and this is for the Battlefield 2042 beta! In addition to that, a Battlefield 2042 Battle Pass for the game has been confirmed which will feature Specialist!

It seems EA is tying Battlefield 2042 with a subscription service, which we assume is EA Play. The leak on Origin mentions perks being given to “members,” which include open beta early access, and even Specialists (we are unsure whether they are Specialist skins or actual Specialists).

“Members can deploy early with Access to the Open Beta, Full Ultimate Edition Game Access on October 15, Monthly Rewards and more”

Release date: October 15

Perks:

“Open Beta early access, Baku ACB-90 melee takedown knife, “Mr. Chompy” Epic Weapon Charm, \”Landfall\” Player Card Background, \”Old Guard\” Tag”

“4 New Specialists (1 per Season of the Year 1 Pass), 4 Battle Passes (1 per Season of the Year 1 Pass), 3 Epic Skin Bundles (”Blistered Earth”, ”Tempest”, and ”Cold Blood”)”

“\”Shadow Stalker\” Legendary Outfit, \”Obsidian\” Legendary Weapon Skin, \”Onyx\” Legendary Vehicle Skin”

“Official Digital Artbook and Exclusive Digital Soundtrack”

What’s a bit worrying for us here is how “4 New Specialists (1 per Season of hte Year 1 Pass)” is included in this membership, and not “Specialist skins.” According to Origin, here’s what Specialists are in the game:

“Choose your role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield’s four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable.”

We’ll have more info for Battlefield 2042 within the day, so stay tuned!

Update: The full Battlefield 2042 pre-order bonus and different editions list have been revealed, which you can read about here.

Thanks, Reddit!

Report: Origin Leaks Battlefield 2042 Release Date, Official Screens and Details Revealed (Update)

Following the leaks from the internal Battlefield 2021 trailer, it seems we now have a title for this year’s Battlefield game, and it’s Battlefield 2042! Not only that, but thanks to a leak from EA’s own Origin platform, the Battlefield 2042 release date has been revealed for October 15!

Check out the screenshots featuring modern (a bit futuristic) looking soldiers and vehicles!

Aside from that, it seems some of the earlier rumors are legit, as the game description (from Origin) mentions 128-player battles! Not only that, but Specialists are mentioned as well.

“Welcome to A World Transformed”

“U.S.A. and Russia stand at the brink of war. Proxy wars have waged for decades, generating experienced but displaced combat veterans. These Specialists use their skills to shape the future — a future worth fighting for.”

“Battlefield 2042 introduces 7 vast maps for up to 128* players. From Seoul’s cities to Egypt’s deserts, every map offers a unique experience based on the natural environment.”

“Customize weapons, gadgets and vehicles in-battle to tip the scales in your favor. Summon a robotic dog built for battle, employ a grappling hook or don your very own wingsuit.”

“Choose your role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield’s four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable.”

The official reveal trailer and details is set for later today, which you can watch on the reveal stream.

Update: The press release has gone out, and the official release date is Oct. 22!

Battlefield 2042is available now for pre-order and is set to launch on retail and digital storefronts on October 22 for $59.99 on Xbox® One, PlayStation®4, and PC, and $69.99 on Xbox® Series X and S and PlayStation®5. EA Play members get a 10-hour trial starting Oct 15, 2021.
We’ll have more details on Battlefield 2042 within the day, so stay tuned.

PS5 Update 21.01-03.20.00.04 Rolled Out for June 9, Includes Much-Needed Change for DualSense

Sony has silently pushed out the PS5 update 21.01-03.20.00.04-00.00.00.0.0 today, June 9! Don’t expect any major from this patch given it’s unannounced, and same as before, the DualSense also got an update alongside the firmware patch.

PS5 Update 21.01-03.20.00.04 Patch Notes:

The system states the firmware update is for “This system software update improves system performance” which is par for the course for unannounced patches from Sony when it comes to console updates.

However, there is one new fix regarding the DualSense controller, and that’s showing the proper battery charging indicator! Reddit user Heymodspleasehelp, posted that the battery indicator for the DualSense now shows the propercharging icon than just blinking telling the user the controller is at low battery, which was annoying I admit.

That seems to be it, but if we spot any other changes, or if Sony rolls out the complete changelog for today, we’ll update the post.

Genshin Impact Update 1.60 June 8 Out for Midsummer Island Adventure

Developer mihoYo has released the Genshin Impact update 1.60 June 8 patch, which is out now on consoles, and even mobile devices! This is for the “Midsummer Island Adventure” title update which we reported on last month.

Genshin Impact Update 1.60 June 8 Patch Notes:

Update: Offiical patch notes are now out!

〓Update Details〓

I. New Limited-Time Area (This area is only available during Version 1.6)
New Limited-Time Area
After being out of sight for quite some time, Klee shows up with a mysterious letter in her hand. According to the letter, there seem to be some uncharted islands that lie well-hidden amidst the sea…
◆ Area Unlock Criteria:
• Complete Klee’s Story Quest “Trifolium Chapter: Act I – True Treasure”
• Complete the Archon Quest “Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom”
◆ The islands will no longer be accessible after the end of Version 1.6. You will also no longer be able to open treasure chests, gather materials, or earn quest rewards on the islands, so grab the opportunity to explore away!

II. New Character
5-Star Character “Scarlet Leaves Pursue Wild Waves” Kaedehara Kazuha (Anemo)
◇ Vision: Anemo
◇ Weapon: Sword
◇ A wandering samurai from Inazuma who is currently with Liyue’s Crux Fleet. A gentle and carefree soul whose heart hides a great many burdens from the past.
◆ Kaedehara Kazuha can use his Elemental Skill, Chihayaburu, to pull opponents and objects in and take to the air before executing his unique Plunging attack, Midare Ranzan, to deal Anemo DMG and generate a wind tunnel that pulls opponents in.
Chihayaburu has a Tapping Mode and a Holding Mode. The former can be executed in mid-air, while the latter expands the skill’s AoE, increasing DMG.
Kaedehara Kazuha’s Elemental Burst, Kazuha Slash, leaves behind a field known as Autumn Whirlwind that deals Anemo DMG to opponents at set intervals.
*”Scarlet Leaves Pursue Wild Waves” Kaedehara Kazuha (Anemo) will be available in a future event wish.

III. New Equipment
▌New Weapons
Freedom-Sworn (5-Star Sword)
◇ A straight sword, azure as antediluvian song, and as keen as the oaths of freedom taken in the Land of Wind.
◆ A part of the “Millennial Movement” that wanders amidst the winds. Increases DMG by 10% when wielded. When characters trigger Elemental Reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s and can be triggered even if said character is not on the field.
When you possess two Sigils of Rebellion, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain “Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance” for 12s. “Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance” increases Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG and ATK.
Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Rebellion for 20s. Of the many effects of the “Millennial Movement,” buffs of the same type will not stack.
◆ The event-exclusive 5-star weapon Freedom-Sworn (Sword) will be available in a future event wish.
Mitternachts Waltz (4-Star Bow)
◇ A bow painted the color of transgression and nights of illusion.
◆ During this event wish, the event-exclusive 4-star weapon Mitternachts Waltz (Bow) will receive a huge drop-rate boost!
Dodoco Tales (4-Star Catalyst)
◇ A children’s book in a resplendent cover, filled with silly short stories at which one cannot help but laugh.
Even those readers who have long reached adulthood cannot help but be absorbed by the innocent, naive little adventures portrayed within.
