Destiny 2 Warlock Glitch Breaks Mayhem Game Mode, Bungie Won’t Be Fixing It Until 2018

Uh oh, it’s not going to be a very happy holiday for Destiny 2 Crucible players! The new featured game mode, Mayhem, which drastically increases ability recharge times, has been ruined.

A glitch that allows Warlocks to constantly spam their abilities, instantly killing enemies, has been discovered and shared with the community. (And yes, I understand that this post exacerbates the problem, but it’s news, and it shouldn’t be an issue to begin with!)

Fortunately, Bungie is aware of the issue. Unfortunately, the Mayhem mode won’t be getting any fixes. At least, not this year.

My advice: Avoid Mayhem entirely… Or, if you’ve got a Warlock character, go enjoy yourself! Reddit user DefenderEchoaz tells you how:

While overcharging a grenade, press [the super button]. It should cancel out your charged grenade, and throw a nova bomb. The game does not consider this a casting of nova bomb, and your super energy should remain unchanged. It appears that as long as you are charging a grenade you can throw nova bombs [infinitely].

I’m disappointed, as I was really enjoying Destiny 2 Mayhem!

In other Destiny 2 news, the first issue of the game’s webcomic is now out and available for free, and here’s what happened to the game’s most powerful weapon.

Warhammer: Vermintide Has Now Sold Over 2 Million Units

While developer Fatshark has just announced the console versions of Warhammer: Vermintide 2, it seems the indie developer made bank with the original game in the series.

In an interview with PCGamesN, Lead Designer Victor Magnuson casually mentioned that Warhammer: Vermintide sales numbers have now surpassed over two million units!

I think we have passed two million copies sold, so we have a broad sample now, and we can look at a really good segment of Steam users and see what kind of hardware they’re using, what combinations we can find, which is great

Over on SteamSpy, Vermintide is shown as having roughly 1.4 million owners. If so, then this means that the console versions account for the remaining 600,000+ units when the game was released over a year ago.

While two million unit sales might be small for some games, remember that Vermintide is made by an indie studio, and as such, have more conservative goals.

Congrats, Fatshark! Now go make Warhammer; Vermintide 2 the best rat-men killing simulator it possibly can.

Ubisoft Making World in Conflict Multiplayer Open Source

Remember when we reported that Ubisoft was giving away PC games (World in Conflict, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Watch Dogs)? Well, the publisher isn’t done doing favors for gamers just yet.

Over on the official Ubisoft forums, Community Developer “Ubi-gabelikes” has posted that the World in Conflict multiplayer open source is being shared by Ubisoft! Yep, no strings attached! Here’s the message in full.

The awesome people over at http://www.massgate.org/ took it upon themselves to maintain the online experience of the game and build a community around it, a journey that started in 2015. Their efforts and passion have inspired us to give back to you, the community, and what better time to do so. World in Conflict is currently free until December 23rd, head over to www.ubisoft.com/happyplaydays to redeem it now.

To continue the holiday celebration we are extremely excited to go one step further and share the open source for Massgate in the link below!

https://github.com/ubisoftinc/massgate
Note that this is not the game, but rather the backend that will allow you to recreate the online multiplayer.

This was also a perfect opportunity to sit down with Johan Oldbring, one of the veterans of Massive Entertainment, to talk about what working on the game was like back then, his role in it all, and how excited he is to see so many players get their hands on the game. Listen to the full podcast below!

https://soundcloud.com/ngongaming/jo…he-source-code

Have a great holiday from all of us at Ubisoft!

Ubisoft definitely did the right thing here. I mean, rather than not let the game’s multiplayer to wither and die, it’s letting the fans continue it which should no doubt rope in new players, and amass a lot of goodwill in the process.

Don’t forget to download World in Conflict and the other games since it’ll only be free until December 23, 2017!

Battlefield 1 CTE Client Now Has Turning Tides Heligoland Bight Map Available

Have access to Battlefield 1’s CTE client and are patiently awaiting for the final map of the Turning Tides DLC to be available? If so, the wait is finally over.

Starting today, those who have access to CTE client for Battlefield 1 on PC can start play testing the Heligoland Bight map ahead of its January release. Those who don’t have access to said client and would like to see what the map is all about can do so thanks to the community trailer made by The Lanky Soldier:

It should be noted that the map is in a very early state, so things like textures and lighting won’t be included.

Those on consoles wondering why the new map isn’t available, it seems that some technical bugs were  found. Unfortunately, due to the upcoming holidays the issue couldn’t be fixed in time. Though, to compensate for this issue DICE will be pushing out an update that will include the new weapon changes that will go live next month.

For more Battlefield 1 news, feel free to check out the other January Turning Tides DLC map, Zeebrugee here.

Call of Duty: WWII Skill Based Matchmaking Not in the Game According to Sledgehammer Games, YouTube Vid Says Otherwise

In case you didn’t know, Call of Duty YouTuber Drift0r held a “$1,000 COD: WWII SBMM” challenge wherein he asked the Call of Duty community for help to prove that there’s skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) in the game. Well, he has now published his report video and the results are in!

For those not familiar with skill-based matchmaking, it’s something that’s discussed each and every year a new COD game comes out. Essentially, it’s the game’s matchmaking algorithm matching players with similar skills when joining a match, which some might dig, while others don’t.

Short answer: there seems to be SBMM in COD: WWII, though Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey has vehemently denied it. According to the video below, Drift0r was helped by a uni student who helped him run up the data, and test it. He was even given data by someone at Activision which he mentions he shouldn’t have been given access to.

Drift0r claims that those who rage-quit a lot or who don’t try to win (padding stats, going after challenges) are penalized by getting worse teammates which his data evidently shows. If you have a high win-loss ratio, that should equate to tougher matches, so basically, it’s higher W/L ratio = more challenging lobbies. Also of note, it seems based on their study, connection isn’t that important when it comes to matchmaking as well (study conducted on PC, but data might show the opposite for consoles). The video is 19 minutes long but it’s definitely worth a watch to learn more about what games the game tick.

Drift0r also talked to Michael Condrey, Sledgehammer Games boss who had this to say:

We’ve been adamant from day 1 that SBMM is not in the game. And I’ve checked to make sure that is true because I know the community is really fixated on this. I wanted to make sure that if it came to prove it, you know put up or shut up, that the facts are 100% on the side of Sledge.

Lastly, Drift0r also mentioned that a pro player mentioned to him how when COD: WWII first got released, the pro players and his teammates played Hardpoint. After “smashing” a few matches, they were matched up against more difficult enemies, and even against other pro players. So take from that what you will.

The tl;dr version of this all? Drift0r’s research says there is SBMM in COD: WWII, but Sledgehammer Games denies it, which puts us at a standstill. Whatever the case, you decide on what you want to believe in.

Do you think there’s SBMM in COD: WWII? Do you even care if it has?

Original Story:

NetherRealm Studios has rolled out a new Injustice 2 update today (version 1.14) and while it’s a rather beefy 1.7GB download on the PlayStation 4, there’s no patch notes available just yet.

Checking the update history, it only mentions that it added Enchantress, and the usual “general bug fixes and stability improvements” spiel.  Unfortunately, that’s all we know for now. We’ll be sure to update the post once official patch notes are up. Mind, there is the possibility that the Enchantress was added and that’s it, so be prepared to not see any balance changes at all.

For reference, here’s the last Injustice 2 update we got last month that had a lot of gameplay fixes and character balances.

The Division Legendary Missions Solo Guides

With the release of The Division’s biggest game update, Ubisoft not only made drastic changes to the overall gameplay of the third-person open world shooter, but even to the “Legendary” missions as well.

Thanks YouTuber RODSCHER 80, you can now check out The Division Legendary mission guides! One thing that makes these videos different from other guides is that he made this one for solo players! Check out the suggested skill builds, what paths to take and more. There’s also a separate video guide for those who want a solo Tactician build, too.

Tactician Build

Those farming for exotic items or just new Agents to the game should find the vids useful. If you’ve stopped playing The Division before the update, you might want to consider giving it another go as there’s a ton of new content out now (and free!), and there’s a lot of changes made to make the transition easier for lapsed players and newcomers alike.

Apple Now Requires iOS Games to Disclose Loot Box Odds

Apple has updated its “App Store Review Guidelines” to include loot boxes. iOS games that use loot boxes are now required to disclose the odds of receiving each type of item. For example, the rarity of Legendary cards in Hearthstone.

Here’s the relevant part of the newly-updated guidelines (in bold):

3.1.1 In-App Purchase:

If you want to unlock features or functionality within your app, (by way of example: subscriptions, in-game currencies, game levels, access to premium content, or unlocking a full version), you must use in-app purchase. Apps may use in-app purchase currencies to enable customers to “tip” digital content providers in the app. Apps and their metadata may not include buttons, external links, or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms other than in-app purchase.

Any credits or in-game currencies purchased via in-app purchase may not expire, and you should make sure you have a restore mechanism for any restorable in-app purchases.

Remember to assign the correct purchasability type or your app will be rejected.

Apps should not directly or indirectly enable gifting of in-app purchase content, features, or consumable items to others.

Apps distributed via the Mac App Store may host plug-ins or extensions that are enabled with mechanisms other than the App Store.

Apps offering “loot boxes” or other mechanisms that provide randomized virtual items for purchase must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase.

That’s a big move for Apple to make, and it’ll be interesting to see if Google requires similar disclosure on its Play Store.

What do you think of this change? Happy to finally see the odds behind the loot boxes? Let us know.

Star Wars Battlefront II DLC Plans Adjusted, Developer Focusing on “More Offline Content”

Following the new The Last Jedi content, which is the current season of Star Wars Battlefront II, developer Criterion Games is apparently going to be focusing on “more offline content.” That is, content outside of the game’s online multiplayer, so more story content or arcade scenarios, or possibly something entirely separate!

Criterion isn’t being very specific, but it is interesting how the developer has shifted its focus based on community feedback:

Are you happy with this shift in focus? Or is the online multiplayer where you want to see the biggest post-launch support? Let us know.

In other Star Wars Battlefront II news, you can get a nice reward for completing the game’s new campaign DLC, and Finn and Phasma have joined the game and currently cost 0 Credits to obtain.

FPS Freek Call of Duty: WWII Edition & KontrolFreek Performance Grips Review (PS4)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPTJMBEG4sg

This is Mack, here with a couple of KontrolFreek products. We have the PS4 versions of the FPS Freek Call of Duty: WWII Edition and the KontrolFreek Performance Grips.

KontrolFreek did reach out about just the new WWII thumbstick addons, but then I went ahead and cheekily requested the grips as well, because my pad can get a little slippery with the custom red casing.

Let’s keep things moving and look at the new FPS Freeks. They come in a dark-ish red, and feature the CoD: WWII Infantry Division emblem. These are what KontrolFreek calls “high-rise thumbsticks,” which means they’re a little taller than the other varieties. I prefer them this way, as they make me feel more comfortable with my larger hands and when playing at higher sensitivities.

Design-wise, I think they look great, especially on this red PS4 pad. As for the little CoD emblem, that’s great, too, and is very grippy. Some KontrolFreek thumbstick add-ons can be a little less easy and comfortable to use, but these WWII FPS Freeks are my new favorites, beating out the Black Ops 3 variant which I always kept coming back to.

The only gripe I have, as is almost always the case with KontrolFreeks, is the standard price. With no sale on or discount applied, these come in at $18 without shipping. It’s a fair bit of money for what they are, but they feel polished, look good, and last forever. Find a style you’re happy to use for years to come, and I think it’s worth it.

Next up is the Performance Grips. I knew I was going to be impressed with these, as my controller has gotten so damn slippery over the years, that any improvement was going to be appreciated.

However, even on a brand-spanking new pad, I think these Performance Grips are worth a look. They are super easy to apply, causing no stress whatsoever, as they can be taken off and re-jiggled to fit perfectly. If I can do it, then anyone can.

Grip-wise, they’re great, and if you happen to have paddles on the rear of your pad, the Performance Grips don’t interfere at all.

Honestly, I’m super impressed. The only gripes I have are the weird rubbery smell that I, actually, kind of like, but that others may find a bit distracting for the first few days of use, then it goes away; the fact that it’s only available in black; and, again, the price, which is $15.

If the Performance Grips boast the same longevity as other KontrolFreek products, then sure, the price is worth it. However, I’ll have to wait a couple of years to give a final verdict on that.

Overall, some great stuff from KontrolFreek that I’ll be using daily for a long, long time, I’m hoping.

I encourage you to check out the KontrolFreek website for any console controller needs, including for Nintendo Switch.

The FPS Freek and Performance Grips were provided to MP1st by KontrolFreek. You can learn more about both products by visiting the KontrolFreek website

PUBG Player Count Hits 30 Million Across PC & Xbox One

You’d have to be a fool to doubt PUBG‘s dominance of the Xbox One platform. With so much hype surrounding the game, and PC players positively smitten by the experience, it would have taken a herculean effort to resist the temptation of the Xbox One version.

Though the game is in the Xbox “Game Preview” stage, and could be buggy and unstable as hell, that has stopped players picking it up.

PUBG Corp.’s CEO CH Kim has today announced that the total PUBG player count, when you combine PC and Xbox One figures, has now surpassed 30 million.

2017 has been a phenomenal year for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. With over 30 million players globally across PC platforms and the Xbox Game Preview program, we owe the success we’ve experienced this year to the community, whose passion has inspired all of us here at PUBG Corp. to make the very best game we can. We’ll continue to fine tune the Battle Royale experience and will introduce additional in-game content, including new crates, to become available in early 2018.

Wow, that is a lot of players!

Are you one of the 30 million that has picked up PUBG on PC or Xbox One? Let us know.

In other PUBG news, the Xbox One “Game Preview” version entered the UK sales charts at #4, Minkonet is providing the tech behind the new 3D replay and killcam features, and a map selection option is coming to the game at some point after launch.

Can’t get enough of Dragon Ball FighterZ and are just craving more coverage from the fighting game? Then the latest Dragon Ball FighterZ gameplay video to surface should exactly ne what you’re looking for.

While we’ve already posted a video confirming Beerus, Goku Black and Hit’s inclusion in the Dragon Ball FighterZ roster, this latest gameplay video gives our first real look at the recently announced roster additions. You can check out the 3v3 action between Freeza/Hit/Goku Black going up against the team of Goku/Beerus/Gotenks in the video provided below.

Alongside seeing these new characters in-action for the first time, we also get a glimpse of a dramatic finish. If you watched Dragon Ball Z before, the dramatic finish showcased at the end of the video will seem awfully familiar, as it was taken from the closing moments of Frieza’s and Goku’s epic battle on the planet Namek.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to be released January 26 on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Though for those who pre-order the game can get early access for the game’s open beta, you can read all the details here.

Gwent Midwinter Update Adds 100 New Cards, Watch the Trailer

There’s a new Gwent update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt spin-off card game. The Midwinter update adds 100 new cards, and there’s even a trailer for it which you can watch below! Word of caution though, the trailer is a bit spooky, which is kind of given since The Witcher has a lot of creepy baddies and monsters.

Don’t forget, Gwent is a free-to-play collectible card game developed by CD Projekt RED, and will be out of beta sometime in 2018. If you’re tired of Hearthstone or other card games, then go try Gwent.

Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 Servers Shutting Down on March 29, 2018

Do you still play Killlzone 2 or Killzone 3 multiplayer? If you plan to do it, better do it soon as the servers for both games will be shutting down in the first quarter of 2018. Guerrilla Games made the announcement today on the studio’s official website where it also confirmed that the single-player campaign will remain unaffected.

Here’s the studio’s message in full to their fans and supporters.

On March 29th, 2018, after more than six years of operation and countless battles between the ISA and the Helghast, the online servers for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will be decommissioned. The single player campaign for both games will remain accessible, but online play and related functionality will no longer work.

As we near the end of the online lifecycle for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, we’d like to express how grateful we are for all the support and feedback we’ve received from the community over the last eight years. Your enthusiasm is what drove us to hone our craft and grow as a studio. We hope you enjoyed playing Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 online as much as we did creating them.

I can’t believe it’s been six years already! If you want to up against the Helghans and experience Killzone 2 and 3’s kind of multiplayer, you still have a few months left. Speaking of Killzone 2, Guerrilla Games kinda admitted that the infamous Killzone 2 “reveal” trailer was not real.
