Is This What The New PlayStation 4 Headset Looks Like? [Updated]

Update

Our initial research didn’t show that these headsets are, in fact, the Y-300P with a Sony licensed design from Thrustmaster. Apologies for the mix up!

Original Story

It appears that the next version of the PlayStation headsets may have been accidentally revealed during a recent Order 1886 Gamescom 2014 demo.

A recent video posted by IGN shows off one of their staff members playing The Order 1886 while wearing a headset that appears to be the next edition in the line The PlayStation headsets.

ssUVrg6

The headset is most certainly one developed by Sony, though it isn’t any of the previous Pulse or the Gold Edition Headsets that they have out of the market right now. It is possible that this may be an early prototype of the rumored Sony Wireless Platinum Edition, which is said to be an improved headset over their previous ones, now with pulse features.

Mark this one up as a rumor for now, as we ourselves are unsure if this is indeed a new headset (though many are suggesting it is).

Battlefield Hardline – New Screens and Details On Gameplay Improvements at Gamescom

As Battlefield fans are getting their hands on Visceral Games’ cops and criminals shooter at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, new details are beginning to pour out of the expo, including specifics on new gameplay improvements since the Hardline’s last multiplayer beta.

On the show floor, Visceral is offering hands-on time with two brand new game modes that general manager Steve Papoutsis introduced during EA’s latest media briefing — Hotwire and Rescue. He even rolled a nifty new gameplay trailer demonstrating the intensity of Rescue’s 5v5, one-life-to-live, hostage rescue gameplay, which you can watch right here. In addition, fans get to take two brand new multiplayer maps for a spin — Grow House, a moon-lit map set inside an industrial warehouse, and Gator Hunt, set in the Florida Everglades.

In an interview with Pwn4Gamers, Visceral lead multiplayer designer Thad Sasser talked about some of the improvements the design team has made to mechanics like the Survivalist Gadget and the way Rocket launchers now work. Based on feedback, Sasser explained that the Survivalist Gadget, previously intended to grant one free revive to its user per life, will now only reverse deaths caused by explosives, including laser trip mines. In addition, the RPG gadget has been moved away from the Mechanic class and now acts as a Battle Pickup. Sasser says this allows the studio to make a bigger deal out of rocket hits, since they won’t appear as frequently. The studio decided that it also didn’t quite serve the Cops and Criminals fantasy by allowing either faction to run around with Stingers and RPGs.

According to a Reddit post by DANNYonPC, some of the new weapons include the K10 (Vector), M249, AKU, MP5, 1911, R0933, Scout Elite, and a new Revolver and DMR. New melee weapons are also present, like a golf club, hammer, and crowbar. The post also mentioned more maps that include jets and helicopters, as well as maps that cater to specific game modes. More interestingly, DANNYonPC also learned that Hardline will feature an objective-based training mode and that Visceral will launch a Community Test Environment, similar to Battlefield 4’s, after release. You can read the full post here.

Furthermore, Battlefield YouTube personality Westie tweeted this image from the show floor, showing a not-so-ferocious-looking swamp boat on the map Gator Hunt:

Lastly, some new screens captured from Battlefield Hardline’s Hotwire and Rescue game modes:

BFH BFH BFH BFH BFHBattlefield Hardline launches early 2015 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

What are your thoughts on some of the game’s latest updates? Tell us in the comments!

Battlefield Hardline X1, PS4, and PC Open Beta Planned for January, One Month Before Launch, Says Visceral Rep

New details emerging from Gamescom 2014 suggest Visceral’s cops and criminals shooter is headed towards a February launch with the game’s PlayStation, Xbox, and PC open beta taking place one month prior, in January.

Speaking to fan site and forums Symthic, a representative from the studio was able to confirm that Battlefield Hardline‘s second multiplayer beta should arrive sometime in January, one month before Battlefield Hardline’s official launch.

“Yes. There will be an open beta in January, a month before the game launches,” said the representative. Adding platform details, the rep explained that “It’s not sure yet if [Visceral] will do the beta on older generation systems like the PS3 and Xbox 360, but they’ll definitely be on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.”

Thus far, Visceral has yet to officially declare specifics on Battlefield Hardline’s launch and second multiplayer beta, other than giving the game an “early 2015” release window when the studio first announced its delayed launch.

Earlier, Visceral GM Steve Papoutsis took the stage at EA’s Gamescom presentation to unveil Battlefield Hardline’s single player for the first time, as well as two brand new multiplayer modes. Watch the 12-minute gameplay demo and Rescue multiplayer trailer here.

Keep your sights on MP1st for more incoming Battlefield Hardline details.

Enjoy Better DLNA Support And A Revamped Friends System With The New Xbox One Preview Update

The Xbox One has seen a lot of feature heavy updates since the Xbox Preview Program was launched earlier this year.

Today’s newest Preview update is no different, revamping some features and adding some new ones, which you can see in action by watching the video above. If you are participating in the Xbox Preview Program, you can download this update by going to > Settings > Console > Update Now .

Here are the patch notes for your curious eyes:

  • Parties – The Party App has been re-organized, so you can now see what activities everyone in your party is doing and tell more clearly who is playing in the same game with you.  You can also more quickly perform common actions like muting, joining, or sending game invites.  Also, Parties now have a Party Leader.  This person can change whether the party requires invitations, and she/he can remove others from the party.
  • New Friends Section – The new Friends section has been available for a few early access preview members and we’re expanding it to additional participants enrolled in the preview program. The new Friends section enables you to see at a glance what’s going on with your friends. You can stay up-to-date with your current activities, the most popular games your friends are playing, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to see who has improved their Gamerscore the most over the last 30 days. We’ll continue to roll this feature out to all participants in the coming updates.
  • Media Player – A new app will be available soon that enables you to play media files from either an attached USB device or from a network connected home media server that supports DLNA protocols. The preview version of the Media Player app will initially only support USB devices, with DLNA support coming soon. Xbox One will support more formats than Xbox 360, including support for dozens of new file formats like mpeg 2 TS, animated gifs and mkv which will be added by the end of the year. See below for additional file formats.
  • Xbox One Digital TV Tuner – Announced last week, this new hardware accessory will enter a limited preview program in Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), in advance of its retail launch beginning in October.
  • Stream TV to SmartGlass – Launching first in markets receiving the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, you will be able to stream your TV across your home network to your smartphones and tablets using the Xbox SmartGlass app. You can also pause, play and rewind as well as change channels, without interrupting gameplay on Xbox One.
  • Boot to TV – Now you will be able to set your console to boot directly to television when coming out of connected standby.
  • Live TV Miniguide – For markets where OneGuide is available, a new mini guide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. You can quickly change channels and see what’s on other channels, while still watching TV.
  • SmartGlass Updates – You can now post status messages from the Activity Feed as well as add comments and share items from both your Activity Feed and from Game Clips. Along with the new comment and share features, a personalized Activity Feed has been added to your profile. Messages have been updated to a new layout supporting a full conversation view. Additionally, we are adding the ability to record game clips directly from the Now Playing bar. Finally, if you upgrade the app directly we have introduced a What’s New page highlighting the features of each release.
  • “Xbox On” in New Markets – Adding support for additional markets to use the “Xbox On” Kinect voice command to power on consoles: Australia, Canada (French), Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil – a top used feature.
  • Country Expansion – We’re doing a lot of work on the back end to prepare for Xbox One to launch in 29 new markets in the coming weeks.
  • Multiple GameDVR Deletes – You will be able to choose multiple GameDVR clips to delete at once in the Upload app.
  • Save your Avatar Gamerpic – A new option is now available to save Avatar GamerPics to your OneDrive.
  • Settings Updates – New options help you manage your controllers and accessories. Also, Instant Sign-In is being moved to Settings, to the Sign-in, security & Passkey area.
  • Bandwidth Usage Display – Located in Network Settings under the Troubleshooting column, Bandwidth Usage will show you how much bandwidth your Xbox One is consuming over a period of time. This is useful if you want to track against bandwidth caps set by ISPs in certain markets.

Here is the list of Xbox One compatible file types:

  • 3gp audio
  • 3gp video

PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 2.00 Detailed, Over 10 Million Consoles Sold To-Date

Sony this week made some big announcements, the biggest being that the PlayStation 4 has reached an astonishing sales mark of 10 million consoles sold-to-date.

At Gamescom, Sony revealed that since the console launched 9-months ago, they have successfully sold over 10 million PS4 units to consumers, making it one of the fastest sold consoles-to-date. Since it’s launch, the PS4 has been outselling its competitor on a monthly basis with reports that it is outselling the Xbox One three-to-one in the last quarter.

Along with the announcement, Sony also delivered some details on a new firmware update, 2.00, releasing this fall for the PS4.

With it comes support for direct YouTube uploading, an improved “Whats New” section, and the biggest feature so far, Share Play. With Share Play, gamers will be able to share a 60 minute session (unlimited sessions) of a game that they have with co-op access, with any of their friends. They don’t even need to own the game to use it, as you can see in the details below.

“The best way to think about Share Play is like a ‘virtual couch’. PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game—even when they don’t own a copy of it. With this first-of-its-kind feature, you’ll be able to play games with a friend just as if you were together in the same room. Let’s say that with games… you’ll be able to invite your friend online to play against the Miami Heat for the championship as the San Antonio Spurs in NBA2K, tackle the challenging Towerfall Ascension Quest Mode together, or aide, heal, and protect you as Igniculus in Child of Light’s local co-op mode.

With Share Play, you can even jump into a game to assist a friend. For example, if there is part of a game that you can’t quite finish, you can invite a friend to take over your controls. Like handing over the controller to a friend on your couch, your screen will be shared as your friend gets through the part of the game that has been giving you trouble—can’t get past that part in The Last of Us: Remastered when you’re hanging upside down? Get a little help.”

More details are to come in the following months, and chances are it’ll be packed with a lot more features. Stay tuned for updates!

If you’re like me and have been waiting to get your first look at one of the oddest playable characters to date in the Borderlands series, Claptrap, then you won’t want to miss the latest trailer for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It features multiple glimpses of  Claptrap’s action skill, which seems to be a randomized skill. Check out the footage above, or you can catch the shots below of the skill in action: 2vbR8xF lpyfG4k Speaking of Claptrap’s mysterious action skill, there seems to be two random skills unaccounted for in the video, which grants him pirate-esque cannons and “wings” that bare a striking resemblance to the ones Lilith and Maya acquire via their skill trees: RUspvFm hkp1pr7 Interestingly, we also see Claptrap’s appearance alongside two of the original Vault Hunters from Borderlands 1, Roland and Lilith: udVNjuE Cool side note: Wilhelm holding a pretty bad-ass laser weapon featuring the American flag: e8sPqZZ And, finally, we spot a mysterious person who closely resembles Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2: IJNoGkk Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set to launch on October 14, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

League of Legends Patch 4.14 Notes

Tomorrow marks the day League of Legends receive its definitive patch.

Riot Games has decided update 4.14 is most likely the patch that will be used for the upcoming 2014 League of Legends World Championship which will take place in Korea. This time, unlike last patch, it’s rather small since all major changes have already been made, and it’s now the time to get everything perfect for the big event.

Check out the patch notes below:

Champions

General

  • Fixed a bug where Rengar would not leap from a bush he had recently flashed to.

Head of Kha’Zix

  • Rengar has now an increased vision range while in a brush with the Head of Kha’Zix

R – Thrill of the Hunt

  • Warning indicator now appears even if Rengar was in the fog of war when he is within 1250 range of the opponent.
  • Range Indicator: Range Indicator is now 1250 (up from 1000)
  • Cooldown: 150/110/70 seconds (up from 120/95/70)

Syndra

R – Unleashed Power

  • Fixed a bug where Unleashed Power’s dark speres would still deal damage to targets who had become untargetable (like Elise’s rappel, Zhonya’s Hourglass, Playful/Trickster)

Thresh

E – Flay

  • Thanks to an outstanding member of the community, Thresh’s longstanding Flay bug where he would fail to move opponents has been fixed

Xerath

R – Rite of the Arcane

  • The delay between Arcane Barrages is now fixed to 6 seconds between individual shots (now steady instead of being reduced by cooldown reduction)

Zed

R – Death Mark

  • When Zed uses his Death Mark on a target, he dashes behind them (Previously he dashed in front of them)
  • Zed now ignores unit collision while the Death Mark is active on its target

And that’s it for this update. It’s incredibly small in comparison to the last three patches, but that’s mostly because there is no room for error. Everything needs to be perfect in order for it to be used as the official 2014 League of Legends World Championship patch.

You can expect an upcoming preview about every team that will be attending the Championship next month!

Advanced Warfare’s Co-Op Mode Is Probably Round-Based, According to Sneaky Hints

It might even have something to do with Zombies, though that’s likely a bit of a stretch.

We all know that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is getting a third mode to compliment its single player and multiplayer components that is co-operative in nature. Thus far, developer Sledgehammer Games has kept rather quiet about it, aside from this blurry image.

Now, a recently discovered clue left on the controller included as a part of the just-announced Advanced Warfare Xbox One bundle is stirring the pot as speculation begins to runs wild.

Just to the right of the Advanced Warfare Xbox One controller’s right thumb-stick (above), you’ll notice a white tally marking. While it look strikingly similar to the same tally system used in World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops 2’s round-based Zombies mode, it’s more likely that it indicates Sledgehammer Games, too, will introduce a round-based co-op mode in Advanced Warfare.

Clearly, Zombies has been Treyarch’s thing ever since they introduced the game mode in World at War, while Infinity Ward, on the other hand, took the extra-terrestrial approach in Ghosts. We anticipate a different direction in Advanced Warfare’s co-op mode, but noticing some of the other borrowed ideas from Black Ops, perhaps zombies may invade Sledgehammer’s shooter after all.

There’s also this scratch mark near the left thumb-stick, but we’re not quite sure what it could signify.

What do you think? Does the Zombies-style tally marking on the controller scream Advanced Warfare Zombies to you? Are Zombies still even cool enough to make a return? What would you have instead of Zombies?

Given the history of Sledgehammer Games’ co-founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield and their work on Dead Space, we think it’d be pretty cool and pretty fitting if Necromorphs were to make an appearance in Advanced Warfare. But, we don’t suppose EA would allow that to happen any time soon.
