It looks like Denuvo has been quietly removed from yet another Capcom title, and this time, it’s none other than Resident Evil Village. The horror game originally came out last May 2021, meaning that the game was published for almost two years before Resident Evil Village’s Denuvo anti-cheat was removed.
The Denuvo anti-cheat removal was originally reported by the DSOGaming website, with SteamDB also confirming the removal in a recent update log. It’s also worth noting that Denuvo is no longer on the Steam Store page, either, so this wasn’t some sort of accident on Capcom’s part.
Denuvo, for those unaware of the software, is an anti-cheat system that’s baked into many PC games, Capcom’s included. The problem with this is that Denuvo is said to cause performance problems with the titles that run it, to the dissatisfaction of many players. It’s worth noting that Capcom has had Denuvo in quite a few of its titles, including Monster Hunter World, Devil May Cry 5, and the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, though those games no longer have the anti-cheat, either. So while it isn’t exactly a surprise that Capcom got rid of Denuvo in RE Village, it’s a welcome bit of news for players nonetheless.
If you’re now thinking about grabbing a copy of Resident Evil Village on Steam, you can find the store page here.
DICE has launched the latest Inside Battlefield podcast (#8), and with today’s episode, the studio gave an audio overview of the Battlefield 2042 “Shutdown” game mode that’s incoming with the Leviathan Rising event this week.
Battlefield 2042 Shutdown Game Mode Details and Overview:
Thanks to community member 02Alien, you can read on for the mode details if you’d rather do that than listen to it.
You can read up on the Leviathan Rising rewards, schedule and more right here. Alongside the new event, DICE has confirmed that all chat functionality will be incoming this week as well.
Some apparently leaked footage of Persona 3 and Jet Set Radio remakes has surfaced online recently, with many believing in the legitimacy of the video. Though brief, the footage captures a more modern-looking version of both games with improved visuals and animations.
According to the tweet, the leaked footage comes from a SEGA internal meeting, with the label on the top right of the video reading “footage in development.” We can see Yukari Takeba in the first clip using her Persona, Io, while the third clip showcases Beat performing a dance in front of a few police cars.
Interestingly, both games have already been speculated to receive remakes for some time. Jet Set Radio was apparently reported to be getting a remake last year (via Bloomberg). Persona 3, on the other hand, was the most-requested remake of the Persona series, tied with Persona 2, based on a poll conducted last year. Twitter user @MbKKssTBhz5 also discovered that a p3re.jp domain had been registered under the same provider as that of the Persona 5 Royal Japanese website (similarly named p5r.jp).
With both games being fairly well-received back when they were first released, the footage gives both Persona and Jet Set Radio fans something to look forward to if proven to be legitimate.
A new Mega Man series logo has been spotted in a recent merchandise announcement. The logo features a simpler, more minimal design, with a more detailed font and single color scheme featuring the iconic blue of Mega Man’s suit.
For those unfamiliar with the series, “Rockman” is the Japanese name for Mega Man, hence the logo being stylized as such. The tweet that spotted the new logo also points out that the logo is for the classic series only, with other games and game-specific merch, such as merch for Mega Man 2 and 3, keeping the original logo of the title. So while the new logo is available in some merch, it’s not present in everything Mega Man-related.
The merchandise in question was announced by GRANUP, a Japanese merch site that deals mainly with video game and anime-related merchandise. While the new logo featured in the merch doesn’t outright confirm anything (such as a new Mega Man game, for example), it’s something worth keeping an eye on should Capcom release more Mega Man-related information in the future.
Whether we’ll see more of this new logo in more merch, games, or other forms of content is something that only time will tell.
Some new footage for Dead Island 2 just got released, and this one features the first 11 minutes of the game’s story. The Dead Island 2 gameplay footage shows in-game cutscenes, combat, and a final wide shot of Los Angeles, or as it’s called in the game, HELL-A.
Here’s the full gameplay video below (Spoiler warning for those who’d rather play the story blind):
The beginning of Dead Island 2 follows Ryan, one of the game’s playable Slayer characters. He wakes up in the middle of a plane crash with a severe wound in his torso, prompting him to look for a medkit and tend to his wounds before finding other survivors. After a bit of searching across the scattered plane debris, he comes across three others who made it out of the crash, one of them being a famous actress named Emma Jaunt. As more survivors are found beneath the wreckage, Emma and the other two leave Ryan alone, forcing him to defend himself against a slew of zombies with a sledgehammer and a few other weapons. The gameplay ends with Ryan making his way deeper into the city.
Dead Island 2 crawls out this April 21 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Stay tuned for our review hitting the site soon!
Santa Monica Studio has released God of War Ragnarok update 4.01 (PS5 version 4.001), and given we just got the New Game+ patch last week, don’t expect anything from this title update outside of fixes. Read on for what’s new in the GOW Ragnarok April 10 patch notes.
God of War Ragnarok Update 4.01 Patch Notes | God of War Ragnarok Update 4.001 Patch Notes | God of War Ragnarok April 10 Patch Notes:
Size: 235MB
Update: Santa Monica has released the official patch notes.
Equipment
Fixed an issue where Darkdale Waist Guard or Risen Snow Armor could not be upgraded past Level 9 in NG+.
Quests
Fixed an issue where certain quest resources were not granted upon completion in NG+ (Lindwyrm Scales, Sovereign Coals, Essence of Hel). These resources will be granted retroactively to players who should have received them.
System
Fixed a rare case where the application would crash when loading certain save files.
Trophies
Fixed an issue where the “Ready for Commitment” trophy would not unlock when upgrading NG+ armor to Level 9 or above.
Fixed an issue where the “Dragon Slayer” trophy could not be earned during NG+ if the player did not craft the Dragon Scale armor during first playthrough on base game.
Fixed an issue where the “Phalanx” trophy could not be earned if the player crafted a Level 9+ shield prior to crafting every other type of shield.
If you receive the armor from the Lost Items Chest in the shop, you will need to restart or reload your game to get the trophy.
Santa Monica Studio has not released the official patch notes just yet, but we do know some of the issues that were brought in as part of the New Game+ patch.
Known Issue Introduced in Patch v. 04.00
We have identified certain cases with NG+ equipment not interacting with trophy unlocks appropriately:
“Dragon Slayer” trophy cannot be earned during NG+ if the player did not craft the Dragon Scale armor during their first playthrough on base game.
“Phalanx” trophy will not be earned if the player crafts a 9+ shield prior to crafting every other type of shield.
Our team is working on a fix that will retroactively unlock and display all earned trophies earned by the player once implemented.
That’s about it. Once the official patch notes are out, we’ll update the article, but we suspect that it’ll be similar to the known issues stuff we’ve included.
Update: SSM has released the official patch notes, and we’ve update the article accordingly to reflect it.

ZeniMax Media‘s QuakeCon is returning as a physical event this year to Grapevine, Texas for the first time since 2019. The event will run from August 10 through August 13 and feature an upgraded bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN party event for “four days of around-the-clock gaming.”
QuakeCon is a yearly showcase event held by ZeniMax to celebrate its subsidiary id Software’s franchises as well as IPs from its other studios. The event, traditionally held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, has only been conducted in a digital format for the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the event will once again a physical presence this year at the Gaylord Texan venue, the BYOC LAN party QuakeCon is famous for is also returning as an upgraded, continuous activity throughout the course of the event.
From Marty Stratton, id Software’s Studio Head:
QuakeCon is our favorite event of the year, and we can’t wait to finally see our incredible QuakeCon community in-person again, celebrate games, and frag all weekend with thousands of friends. For our first year back, QuakeCon 2023 is focusing on the fan favorite BYOC and the players that made QuakeCon the best gaming gathering for more than 25 years.
The event will also feature additional celebratory and socializing activities and be streamed digitally on Twitch for those unable to make it to the event in-person. Tabletop activities, BYOC community events, and QuakeCon Finals Party (for the Quake World Championships finale) will all be featuring at the event. Notably, QuakeCon 2023 will be a ticketed-only event (meaning pre-registration is mandatory for attendance) with no General Admission or exhibit hall this year.
While registration is not open yet, the ticket tiers and prices have been detailed as follows:

Check out the one-sheet that covers everything from the quest-related treasury swords puzzle, to even optional ones like the cave shrines where you can get valuable treasure to sell as a reward.
This guide should help aid speedrunners and anyone who doesn’t want to spend a long time figuring out the game’s puzzles. Of course, there are the boss fights and tougher enemies to contend with in the latter stages of the game, but that’s why the “assisted” mode is in the game, right?

Resident Evil fans have discovered that Ashley does indeed respond when players try to look up her skirt, though this time, she doesn’t scold Leon like in the original Resident Evil 4.
As we know, the Resident Evil 4 remake has introduced many new changes, as well as cut several old ones. One specifically is that Capcom ensured the remake didn’t over-sexualize Ashley like the original 2005 did, cutting out lines of dialogue and, most notably, the ability to look above her skirt to see her underwear. Regardless of how you feel about that, we do think it was a smart move by the company to change this, as gaming over a decade ago was in a weird place when it came to women’s representation.
However, despite the ongoing reports saying that Capcom cut any reference to it entirely, this has turned out to be false, as discovered by Reddit users.
With enough trial and error, players can eventually trigger an animation for Ashley where she’ll cover her skirt up. However, unlike in the original, where she scolds and calls Leon a pervert, she’ll break the fourth wall instead.
As you can see, she will now look directly at the camera rather than Leon, suggesting she knows what the players are trying to do. An obvious nod to the original, though with a twist that seems to be taking cues from the Nier series, where 2B would swat the camera away, breaking the fourth wall whenever players would attempt to do the same thing to her.
While Ashley doesn’t say the phrase, Capcom has snuck something in that’s even worse given she is directing it at the player and not Leon.

While Tekken 7 didn’t feature crossplay, fans will be glad to hear that Tekken 8 crossplay has just been confirmed by Tekken franchise boss Katsuhiro Harada along with rollback netcode too.
This was revealed by Harada over on Twitter where the Tekken 8 Game Director gamely answered fan questions. On the topic of Tekken 8 crossplay, Harada nonchalantly confirmed it alongside stating that he even proposed crossplay back when the PS4 and Xbox One generation as well.
Crossplay? Of course I will. BTW When the previous generation consoles were released, I had already proposed crossplay between the two platformers. However, at that time, they were at odds with each other over their mutual interests (and P2P security issue) & repeatedly refused. https://t.co/I8b38YfePh

In a separate tweet to a fan, Harada also confirmed that Tekken 8 rollback netcode is in as well! Furthermore, Harada explained why they didn’t make a big fuss in announcing both features.
already installed it, and it already has what you want. The reason WHY we don't make big announcements like cross-play is Cuz even if we make big announcements, people like you will only say things like, "waaaa! That's normal in this day and age." So shut up & sit the hell down. https://t.co/ZA1ZKMV9gC

If you’re unfamiliar what rollback netcode is and why it’s a big deal, here’s a brief explanation (via IGN), “To put it simply, rollback netcode helps make online fighting game matches as smooth as possible, regardless of each competing player’s internet connection, making it just as seamless as it would be if the players were playing on the same machine.” You can also watch this video explaining it in-depth and why it’s important for the fighting game community.
While Harada’s response was a bit snarky, he does have a point. If they made a big deal announcing it, people would just chew over it and state how it should be expected and whatnot. At least this way, fans got what they want and Harada doesn’t need to hear any of the backlash surrounding the features’ inclusion.
Tekken 8 is set to launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, though there’s no release date revealed just yet.
