As promised, the Bloodstained Ritual of the Night update 1.30 is now out, and it adds Aurora from Ubisoft’s Child of Light as a playable character! In additon to that, there are also bug fixes listed in the Bloodstained Ritual of the Night April 4 patch notes below.
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Update 1.30 Patch Notes | Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Update April 4 Patch Notes:
From the PS4’s update history:
— New Playable Character. Aurora from Child of Light joins the fight!
— Reload time after dying as Miriam reduced.
— Fixed instances where Miriam would take damage from spike walls while using Reflector Ray.
— Addressed issues where some text would clip or fall out of boxes in various languages.
— Engine changes
— General bug fixing
More details on the crossover:
Aurora has lost her way and awoken in a strange, dangerous new land. Armed with the Sword of Matildis and accompanied by the loyal Igniculus, she must find a way to escape. Despite the dire situation, Aurora is not alone. Johannes is on hand to help her increase her power by transmuting items found in chests throughout the game.
In addition to her sword, Aurora begins her adventure with the help of her trusted friend Igniculus and the directional Light Ray skill. Igniculus acts on his own and can temporarily slow down enemies or heal Aurora with a flash of light. The Light Ray uses MP and shines in front of Aurora. Enemies caught in the light lock on will suffer damage.
Throughout her journey, Aurora gains power by defeating enemies and absorbing Shards. The Grade of each ability can be improved by collecting more shards of the same type and, with the help of Johannes, you can level up the Rank.
After defeating certain bosses, she will grow stronger and gain additional abilities as she ages. Each stage of her progression will add to her movement abilities and unlock previously inaccessible parts of the castle.
Here’s how you’ll be able to play as Aurora:
Starting a game as Aurora is simple. From the Main Menu, find an open save slot and start a new game. After choosing the save file name, you’ll be able to choose your starting character: Miriam, Zangetsu or Aurora. (Bloodless is chosen by naming a new save BLOODLESS in all caps).
That’s about it. If there are other gameplay-related changes found, we’ll update the post.

Who would’ve thought that the little plastic pieces that would administer excruciating pain when stepped on would eventually become a pillar in the video game community? Instead of simply having a licensed video game based on major pop culture properties, we’ve seen more and more of these properties becoming “LEGO-fied.” It’s poetic that the first major property to receive this treatment, Star Wars, will now be considered arguably the greatest LEGO game ever created.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the creme de la creme of LEGO games. It’s a massive collection of all nine films, from pod-racing with little Ani in The Phantom Menance, to fighting the resurrected corpse of Emperor Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker. The Skywalker Saga is a Star Wars fan’s dream come true, jam-packed with hundreds of characters, unique puzzles, and of course, that LEGO charm. People may think The Skywalker Saga is a collection of rehashed games with a fresh coat of paint for a quick payday, but actually, The Skywalker Saga might end up being one of the best games of 2022.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go
Each episode contains huge sandbox areas for what seems like endless exploration. In the past, LEGO games were known for their strict linear progression with, perhaps, a large hub world. The Skywalker Saga takes that formula and jacks it to 11, as this is without question the largest game in the LEGO series. My total playtime was about 30-33 hours with light exploration, so you can figure each episode takes roughly three hours to complete, depending on how much you explore. Depending on how you approach the game, whether it’s by theatrical release (the correct way) or by chronological (wrong, but acceptable), you’ll only have access to the first episode of each subsequent trilogy. That means when you first boot up The Skywalker Saga, you’ll have the initial choice between Episodes 1, 4, or 7.
In each episode, there are numerous areas that you can spend an endless amount of time exploring. In A New Hope, you can scour the desert planet of Tatooine from Luke’s home and the surrounding Tusken Raider camps, to the bustling spaceport town of Mos Eisley. Not only are their hidden treasures to discover, but The Skywalker Saga offers plenty of side missions. Some of the missions can be completed with the standard characters for that specific main mission, while others require you to come back in Free Play and use previously locked characters. The game has a mission log to keep track of Minikits, Level Challenges, Side Missions, Puzzles, Trials, and Challenges throughout the galaxy. Nonetheless, The Skywalker Saga offers an almost overwhelming amount of content that will have you coming back for quite some time.
Build It Your Way
Other than collecting Minikits and Kyber Bricks for players vying for completionist status, The Skywalker Saga offers a major skills tree. The tree has various upgrades split into the following categories: Core Upgrades, Jedi, Hero, Scavenger, Scoundrel, Bounty Hunter, Villain, Dark Side, Astromech Droid, and Protocol Droid. Initially, you’ll want to unlock the majority of the Core Upgrades for things like faster building, health increase, and higher damage. These upgrades affect all characters, regardless of their class.
The class-specific upgrades only affect those types of characters, but that doesn’t mean they should be overlooked. Abilities like Distraction, located in the Astromech Droid section, can be quite handy throughout the game, as this ability projects a hologram that can distract enemies for a period of time. It’s virtually impossible to unlock all the abilities in your first playthrough, but don’t be discouraged; The Skywalker Saga is built for multiple playthroughs in Free Play, so aim for the Core Upgrades first and then sprinkle in other abilities that fit your play style.
Newfound Appreciation
Before we get ahead of ourselves, no, playing The Skywalker Saga isn’t better than watching the movies; nothing beats watching Star Wars. But playing through The Skywalker Saga gives you yet another reason to fall in love with this magical franchise. It’s without question that the original trilogy still holds up as the best trilogy of the franchise, but I’m here to say that the prequel hate ends now. Playing through the prequel trilogy gave me so much appreciation for those movies; experiencing young Anakin Skywalker’s tumultuous journey from a slave on Tatooine to the fearsome Darth Vader and seeing the fall of the Jedi Order should’ve been better received.
On the other hand, The Skywalker Saga, unknowingly, truly proves that the sequel trilogy is downright terrible. Because of the LEGO formula, only the core plot points are highlighted throughout the game. Certain things might get overlooked or there might be little funny Easter eggs, like showing a cabinet in Senator Palpatine’s office full of Sith-related items in The Phantom Menance. When it comes to the sequel trilogy, because those movies were already so convoluted and, quite frankly, didn’t make a whole lot of sense, they make even less sense in The Skywalker Saga.
Verdict
Whether you like Star Wars, LEGOs, or video games in general, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a must-play in 2022. There’s an insane amount of content, I can’t emphasize how massive this game is. The puzzles aren’t too difficult to solve, while also not being too easy; I never felt that I was wasting my time playing through a level. And even if you found yourself stuck in an area or just in need of general help with the game, there’s an orange and blue protocol droid named H1-NT that will provide you with helpful information on your journey. The Skywalker Saga also has an extensive skills tree that rivals any action RPG out there. The game mechanics work extremely well, especially when playing flying missions; it’s always a crapshoot when it comes to aerial combat, but operating an X-Wing or the Millennium Falcon in The Skywalker Saga feels amazing. From top to bottom, The Skywalker Saga is a near-perfect game that checks all the boxes for a Star Wars fan and is one of the best games of the year.

Crytrek has released the Hunt Showdown update 1.50 patch for consoles today, and this has been deployed following the game’s maintenance period. This is to fix a few nagging issues and doesn’t add new content. In addition to that, the studio has also warned about a kills exploit happening right now, and doing it can lead to a ban.
Here’s the announcement from Crytek (via Twitter):
Console Hunters,
The Servers are now back online including a Hotfix!
The Hotfix includes a fix for the turning extra strength issues reported as well as multiple other bugs.
Happy Hunting!
In addition ot that, here’s more info on the exploit happening right now, and Crytek’s warning (via Twitter):
Hunters,
We have detected an exploitable bug that rewards players with unearned kills after completing Hunt matches. We are currently working on a fix to resolve this issue, while looking into resetting and correcting the un-earned kills on players’ profile as soon as possible.
Please note, that continuing to purposefully abuse this bug will result in a temporary or permanent ban of users’ account on a case by case basis.
We’re uncertain whether this fix is a server-side fix or an actual patch. Once we know more, we’ll let our readers know.

Not all horror games need to be big budget, AAA experiences to make an impact, as long as the theme and gameplay is up to snuff. This is what developer Magic Fish Studio is counting on with In Nightmare, the latest game to come from Sony’s China Hero Project, which also brought us the fantastic FIST Forged in Shadow Torch. Is this a nightmare worth suffering through or should gamers wake up? We gather, it’s best to keep that pot of coffee filled.
A Dreamworld Full of Nightmares
In Nightmare follows the story of a young boy dealing with the breakup of his family. Traumatized by the events unfolding before him, he soon slips into a deep slumber, falling into a dream reality in hopes of escaping his current one. Unfortunately for him, this is not the good kind of dream, as he finds himself having to relive his worst memories, which have warped into hellish nightmares. He must learn to face these nightmares, or forever be stuck with reliving them over and over for all eternity.
Although it can be a bit convoluted at times, for the most part, I did enjoy the story of In Nightmare. There was a lot of relatable subjects that were tackled that made it easy to understand the character, even when there weren’t any real spoken words being heard. I liked the perspective of viewing the world from a kid’s point of view, as while certain situations are understandable as an adult, the effects they have on a child aren’t quite so. It’s a bit heartbreaking at times, especially when you explore levels and learn more about the backstory via collectible notes and such.
No Light at the End of the Tunnel
On the gameplay side of things, In Nightmare sets itself as a hide and seek type of game where you navigate through dark, dimly lit environments all while avoiding monsters that are dreamt from the boy’s imagination. It’s a very simple premise, though be that as it may, in execution, it’s a bit of a hit and miss for In Nightmare.
While I loved the diverse environment, and exploring the levels for secrets and lore, being a stealth-centric title it came off rather frustrating to play that way. Monsters all have one-hit kill attacks, which is fine, but their cone of detection can be extremely wonky at times. I have had monsters look right at me and not notice me, while other times, these monsters being completely off-screen and still somehow seeing me from afar. There are tactics such as throwing objects to distract them, which I found to be a common strategy, but a lot of times I would get caught accidentally, then have to restart certain sections. Sometimes those were midway through, sometimes they weren’t, and for the times that weren’t, I almost wanted to just give up in frustration. It felt unfair in some situations, and not the hard kind, but the kind where you feel the game was being unfair. That’s not to say that I didn’t experience parts that felt great, because there are certainly some good stealth sections. It just felt more off than it should have.
As an interesting way to mix-up the stealth gameplay, you are also provided aid by a butterfly who goes by the name of Bitki. You can control Bitki and extend your view beyond what the character can actually see, which is nice because you can spot secrets, enemies, and bosses easier. Bitki also has the ability to spot things invisible to the eye, which added a nice layer to the gameplay. However, this ability functions off a meter, which could only be filled from a consumable or specific spots. There’s also an additional ability that enhanced how far Bitki can fly away from the boy that also ran off consumables. While the game had collectibles to extend that usage, I found very early on that these were essentially useless because of how quickly they drained. They felt more of a nuisance than they did an aid; to the point that I almost didn’t bother using them unless they were tied to the narrative in some way, such as following the footprints of a spirit.
Another thing I also wanted to bring up was the stiffness of the character. It’s forgiving given the budget of In Nightmare, but I found it to be a hassle to deal with during big confrontation against monsters. One specific instance I recall is being chased by a shadow monster of some sort down a number of hallways. It required quick thinking, as there were switches that needed to be flipped in order to open up gates to continue progression. At times it felt like I was wrestling with the character, as I tried to maneuver around the environment, or it felt like I was just going too slow despite going as fast as the game allowed me to go.
This resulted in a lot of deaths. In Nightmare isn’t a hard game by any means, it just has moments that feel too unforgiving because of how precise you have to be in those movements and actions. In fact, I almost felt as if I had to result to some form of cheating, as I found that you could crouch under the gate well before it was raised high enough to do so, clipping through it.
Generally, any action that would force the character to have to be quick would result in death. I don’t think it’s so much of a learning kind of experience, but more of a cross-your-finger-and-hope-the game-doesn’t-cheat-you because-you-turned-a-little-too-late kind of thing, or didn’t follow the imaginary line that would give you enough time.
Haunted by Technical Woes
If there is one clear major issue with In Nightmare, then without a question it’s the performance. Seeing that In Nightmare isn’t exactly pushing the PS5 (least there’s no reason to believe so,) it oddly performs like some sort of slideshow. The frame-rate is really inconsistent with drops immediately noticeable moments after loading into the game world. It chugs hard just from normal movement, that at times I felt a bit uneasy — enough to want to take an extended break due to the worry of getting a headache. It really is that bad, which is a shame, because the world itself is nice to wander in. It’s an issue for sure, but in the very least, one that can be addressed in hopefully a future patch. For now, a fair warning to those day one buyers out there. Another issue that was brought to out attention is there was a save breaking bug. This has been fixed, or at least I believe it has as I have not encountered it and was able to finish In Nightmare.
Verdict
In Nightmare may provide a decent plot line with enjoyable, heartfelt moments, but outside of that, it really is a hard game to recommend to anyone. The technical issues alone are enough to say wait until an update comes out to address it, but even so, the gameplay, while does offer some enjoyable moments, proves to have more issues that only the most patient of people can really deal with. You might have some fun with it for sure, but this is one nightmare you probably don’t want to jump into, at least right away.
Score: 5.5/10
Pros:
Environments are nicely done, as are the monster designs.
Story is decent, and the topics tackled are enough to keep you invested.
Cons:
Performance issues are hard to get past, with frames dipping throughout our entire playthrough.
Gameplay, although has it’s moments, is more frustrating to deal with, especially during chase sequences.
Some mechanics, specifically those tied to Bitki felt under utilized and hinderance to the overall stealth.

In case you didn’t know, Gran Turismo 7 requires an internet connection to play the majority of its content — and yes, that includes single-player stuff. Unfortunately, that little bit came to a head two weeks ago when a new title update caused an issue that prevented the game from going online, which then resulted in it being unplayable (for the most part) for over a day.
Naturally, this didn’t sit well with gamers. Not only did the game get review bombed on Metacritic resulting in the lowest user rated PlayStation game in history, but Polyphony had to issue two apologies to gamers, and even promise freebies to try and placate gamers. The thing is, does the game really need to be always-online? We dive into that right now.
What Is the Reason for Gran Turismo 7 to Have an Always-Online Requirement?
In an interview with Eurogamer last year, series creator Kazunori Yamauch had this to say concerning why Gran Turismo 7 would require an always online connection for nearly every mode.
The requirement for the online connection isn’t specific to the Cafe per se — it’s just to prevent cheating overall from people trying to modify the save data, so that’s the reason for the online connection,
What Exactly Is This Referring To?
Some of you may be a bit confused, considering that Gran Turismo 7 is only available on PlayStation consoles and not PC where cheating would be more accessible and rampant. Well, for those of you that didn’t know, the PS4 has the capability of allowing users to transfer their game saves onto a USB flash drive. This is a feature that has somewhat always existed with PlayStation, though with the PS1 and PS2 it was through proprietary cards. With the PS4 hacked, it has lead to a number of issues for Sony, from piracy to online cheating, both of which they have continued to combat with every new firmware released. And while PlayStation, as well as leading members of the PlayStation hacking community, have kept “jailbroken” consoles at bay from accessing online features by ensuring that they can only be used offline by supporting older firmware only, that unfortunately hasn’t prevented game saves from being hacked. Specifically a popular save editing tool has always tried to stay ahead, as for every new firmware update that PlayStation release, this program has continued to work, even if it doesn’t for the moment.
Still, the program itself is limited, and by design, the developers behind it have been openly vocal about not allowing the tool to be used for online focus games. A majority of the cheats revolve around only being used during single-player, and for games with multiplayer or some form of online connectivity, they are limited as the program locks cheat functionality to solely quick codes, cheats designed by them, locking out users from potentially circumventing online features, such as gifting themselves paid currency or DLC, or being given an unfair advantage online.
However, it does go without saying that some titles have slipped through the cracks in the past. Take Nioh for example, when it got its online multiplayer component users would one-hit kill players online during PvP matches. Marvel’s Avengers, although doesn’t feature PvP, would see players join co-op matches via matchmaking and ruin the experience for others by breaking the game with overpowered characters. Souls game are notorious for seeing hacked characters during PvP, though FromSoftware has resolved this by implementing an anti-cheat system that is near fool-proof, Modified saves in Elden Ring are often met with an immediate ban if they try to go online.
Gran Turismo Sport didn’t have any cheat support, but it did have save reassigning (open to any title with a save). While not the same and a bit more complicated than other titles when it comes to reassigning, users could in ways obtain almost everything in GT Sport if they followed a correct method. Understandably that would be a bit of a concern if a user just cloned someone else’s progress onto their online file, but this does beg the question: is it really that big of a deal in the end?
Does Cheating Matter in a Racing Game, Yet Alone in a Solo Campaign?
Look, I won’t beat around the bush and say that cheating is a good thing. It’s not, and it sucks when you encounter it. Games like Call of Duty or other cross-play supported titles with PC is proof enough that cheating is absolutely horrible, having to deal with aimbot users, god mode, ect. It’s frustrating. But looking at a racer specifically, one does have to question exactly what kind of cheating is Polyphony worried about.
Well, to understand that all one has to do is look at Polyphony’s past title, Gran Turismo 5.
When the PS3 first got hacked, the means to achieve it were so open that anyone even on the latest firmware could do it if they wanted to. It was very easy, and PlayStation didn’t really have any real means to ban these users like they do today. Once the system was open, the network was compromised with console cheaters. Fast forward to the PS4 and that story is a different one as there has yet to be a way for jailbroken console to access online, at least publicly. But looking back at the PS3, it certainly was a mess.
In Gran Turismo 5 case, users would modify their vehicles stats, giving them unrealistic values. Have a look at it yourself.
Now, Polyphony tried to combat this with a few patches, but no matter what they did it seems users were still able to work around it and ruin a few online matches. However, as I noted, that was mostly due to the openness of the PS3 hack where anyone could do it. This is a far different story on the PS4 side of things, as it took many years for a newly supported firmware to support hacks, and it will take many more before we even see it achieved in the latest firmware, which by then the console will be on its last legs, and most likely on a higher, non-hackable firmware.
So the only real concern that Polyphony has is the save editing tool (thus the reason given), one that would most likely would restrict cheats to ones they’ve created given the huge online nature of Gran Turismo 7. This means that if it did support cheats, it’s likely we would only see cheats for currency. Of course that would break the economy that Polyphony intended for GT7, but that’s an issue on its own that many users have been calling them out on, especially after the recent nerf patch that is getting reversed. As it stands, you can either grind it out, or, if you were rich enough, you could just buy your way into owning every car and tuning parts. It’s an expensive — roughly $2,000-$4,000-dollar-expensive — but nonetheless removes that in-game grind. Is that really a better solution for players? I certainly don’t think so.
And going back to the whole modded cars thing, given that Gran Turismo is available on a closed platform, things like anti-cheat can be put in place. Consoles aren’t like PC where a user can just build a new program to workaround those anti-cheats deployed by developers. It’s a lot harder, especially in the PS4 case where users are limited to working with a game save file, rather than files of the game itself. Unless jailbroken, which can’t access online anyway, this isn’t like the PS3 where everything on the system was hackable. Which this brings up another point, what’s the excuse for always online for the PS5 version?
Why the Provided Reason “Falls” Apart, At Least on PS5 and Why Legit Players Suffer for the Few.
One of the big changes with the PS5 was that PlayStation actually removed the ability to export game saves for PS5 games onto a USB flash drive. Now you can still copy PS4 saves from the console to and from a USB, but when it comes to those game saves for PS5 specific games, owners only have the option to back-up via PS Cloud. See where I’m going here? It’s a non-issue on the PS5 when it comes to the idea of users modifying their game saves because they have no means to do so, at least solely from the PS5.
Now, I’m not going to pretend that it’s impossible to cheat with hacked saves on the PS5, because it is entirely possible. There may have been a reason why PlayStation was somewhat reluctant on cross-gen save, that being around cheating. Because you can modify a PS4 game save, a lot of games allow you to transfer (via in-game option) those modified saves to the PS5 version, thus bringing with it any cheats. That’s how cheats are currently being done on the PS5, which is unfortunate to see, but I’ll add that PS3 allowed developers to lock their saves from USB transferring, a possible alternative that PlayStation can offer to implement on the PS4 than just choosing to be always online.
However, it still begs the question: Is that reasoning truly a good one for owners on the PS5? A vast majority of PS5 owners out there aren’t going to download the PS4 version just so they can cheat. It will happen, but that number in the grand picture of things is minimal. You’ll have more legit players in the pool compared to the PS3 days where it was completely open. And given that the saves are stored in-game online, that kind of goes back to the whole anti-cheat of things. If cheating on the PS5 side of things was a big concern, why not implement some sort of save transferring check in-game? If it see’s hacked vehicles, or saw that currency was obtain in a way outside of the intended ones, then ban it, or modify it to reverse those modifications.
For a series that has always had offline play in it’s fullest form up until Gran Turismo Sport, and now Gran Turismo 7, I personally don’t think users should have to suffer due to the few bad apples out there. While yes, most of everyone today does have online connectivity where the whole “always online” shouldn’t be much of an issue, we saw exactly what happened when servers had to go down for an unexpected amount of time, resulting in the loss of a full day. Seeing that I’m a solo player, and never really dabbled much in the competitive online arena in a Gran Turismo game, I just don’t see a good reason why I should be at the mercy of the servers. Me playing solo races against AI bots has no true bearing on the online modes. This isn’t like Destiny where if there was offline play I could save scum and try to get different loot rolls to bring in the online modes. Nothing really tied to RNG (random number generator) in GT7 outside of the roulette tickets, and even then those aren’t all that major if someone was going to save scum them.
If the next Gran Turismo game is indeed a full exclusive for the PS5, and for whatever reason has the same excuse of why it’s always online, then that’s one excuse that doesn’t hold up. After playing GT7 and seeing how many other features are implemented with online mechanics, or how the economy of the game is all balancing on the control of Polyphony themselves, I just wonder if the modified save reason given was an excuse in its own to not let players know that they have a strict plan for earning credits, and that they wanted full control over it. It sure seems that way as the recent farming methods that were harming no one ended up hurting the players more after the changes.
The whole online thing also brings another question; Where will Gran Turismo 7 be in the next 20 years? I can go back and play any of the past Gran Turismo games, and sure some of you might say why would anyone do that, but as many fans have pointed out, some of the older Gran Turismo are “better” in some areas over the new ones. I personally feel that GT7 is a great return for the franchise (my review of GT7 says exactly that), but is it a game that will still be playable in 20-years or will it suffer the same fate of so many old online games where the servers eventually get shutdown to make way for the new? Who knows, but I, for one, hate the idea of it always being online and can’t see the provided reason as a good one to keep it that way.
