Sifu Player Count Now at More Than 500,000

Sloclap is celebrating a big milestone with the recently release Sifu player count hitting more than half a million players! Announced over on Twitter, the game has not been out a full week and it’s already on its way to becoming a huge success for the studio. Check out the celebratory announcement below.

We’re humbled that more than half a million of you have embarked on your path of vengeance so far. From everyone at @sloclap, THANK YOU #SifuGame #Sifu

In case you missed it, check out our review of Sifu here, where James wrote, “With that said, it’ll be interesting to see if Sloclap has any grand plans for Sifu as a franchise, or at least some post-launch support. Whereas Absolver, their previous title, had online backing to keep the fun going, Sifu is a single-player only game that doesn’t offer any procedural generated content that it inspires from. Nothing wrong with a single-player focused game, but having cranked over 30-hours into it and achieving the full Platinum trophy, I’m eager to see what exciting content or game the studio has next, and hopefully this isn’t the last we’ll see of Sifu.”

With regards to the sales of It Takes Two, here’s what EA had to say:

The winner of Game of the Year at the 2021 Game Awards, It Takes Two is the perfect game for couples this Valentine’s Day with its genre-bending adventure gameplay that brings players together through split-screen couch or online co-op. It Takes Two also offers players the Friend’s Pass, a two-in-one deal where one player can invite a partner to play with them for free.

It Takes Two was also our winner for MP1st’s Game of the Year, and you can check out our review for the game here, where Sean writes, “And at the end of the day, that is what stands out in It Takes Two. It’s fun. The game is effortlessly fun. While the marriage of gameplay and story wasn’t what I had hoped – I wasn’t ever really invested in May and Cody’s relationship – I was constantly having fun playing it. And for me, that is what matters most. Highly recommended.”

EA UFC 4 Update 14.00 Patch Notes for Feb. 10 Brawls Out to Add Two New Fighters

EA has released the EA UFC 4 update 14.00 patch this February 10, which comes as a surprise as it adds two new fighters. Here’s all we know about this update.

EA UFC 4 Update 14.00 Patch Notes

Major Update

  • Added new fighters, Giga Chikadze and Magomed Ankalaev

Sadly that’s all we know about this update (per PS4 log,) EA has yet to release any official patch notes. However, as far as we can tell this update adds both Giga Chikadze and Magomed Ankalaev to the roster of fighters. Outside of this? Well users over on reddit have reported buffs for Kattar, Cruz, Caceres, Lewis and Ngannou, though nothing is 100% verified. There are also reports of 60 fps support on PS5 now (backwards compatibility,) though again, unverified. If EA releases the official patch notes for today’s UFC 4 update we will be sure to update this post, but for now you might have to do some digging on your own.

In some related news, for you gamers on PlayStation, in case you haven’t heard UFC 4 is part of this February 2022 monthly offering of PlayStation Plus games! Go grab it now if you haven’t already, and with two new fighters joining the lineup it might not be a bad time to play it either.

Nintendo Piracy Case: Bowser Has Been Sentenced to Prison for 40 Months

In an update provided by Nintendo, it has been revealed that their case against one of Team-Xecuter’s leaders, Gary W. Bowser, has come to a close with the court sentencing Bowser 40 months in prison. And yes, it is ironic that his name is Bowser.

In a press release sent out by the company, Nintendo confirmed that Gary W. Bowser would be spending 40 months, or three years and four months, in prison as part of his punishment for taking part in the distribution of unauthorized hardware/software.

Today, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington imposed a 40-month sentence upon Gary W. Bowser, one of the leaders of the Team Xecuter criminal enterprise, which created and sold console-hacking software and devices used to play pirated Nintendo Switch games.

Nintendo appreciates the hard work and tireless efforts of federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies to curb illegal activities on a global scale that cause serious harm to Nintendo and the video game industry. In particular, Nintendo would like to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) of the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Computer Crime & Intellectual Property Section and the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs for their significant contribution and assistance.

Back in October, Bowser and his attorneys filed a plea agreement, which saw Bowser plead guilty on two counts of “conspiracy to circumvent technological measures and to traffic in circumvention devices.” In more layman terms, he plead guilty to the distribution of software which enabled piracy on the Nintendo Switch, despite what their marketing stated.

For some time now, Nintendo has been cracking down on piracy as they have over the years taken down a number of rom sites. Team-Xecutor is the latest to face action from them as they sellers of hardware used to exploit the Nintendo Switch.

God of War PC Review – A Worthy God Killer

God of War is officially on PC. That’s something I never thought I would ever say, yet here we are, four console generations later, and four years after the release of the highly acclaimed God of War on PS4. A masterpiece that still stands strong, now fully playable to even more gamers thanks to the help of Jetpack Interactive. PC gamers, get ready to experience the AAA quality that PlayStation gamers have had for the last few decades.

A Masterpiece Just Got Better

If you were to ask me what I thought about God of War on the PS4 back in 2018, I would tell you it’s an absolute masterpiece that to this day still feels unmatched. It was my personal Game of the Year, and as a PS4 exclusive, it was the game to showcase the sheer power of the platform. Heck, looking back today it still impresses. It’s timeless, an essential that every single gamer should play at one point in their lifetime.

And for the longest time, that place to play has always been the PlayStation ecosystem, as Sony has made great strives to build the platform identity around a plethora of exclusives. Well, that all but changed as of recently, as older PlayStation titles have made their way over (legitimately) to the open PC platform. It started off with Horizon Zero Dawn, and Days Gone, though arguably those ports weren’t exactly providing the top of the line quality that PlayStation gamers have been experiencing the past couple of decades.

So it’s fair to say that with the announcement being made last October that God of War was finally coming to PC, many PC gamers were skeptical in the company delivering a good port. Well, if you still have some skepticism about this release, you can put those to rest, as this is without question the best PlayStation to PC port thus far, improving on every aspect to deliver a sublime experience that even PC gamers may find difficult to top.

My rig isn’t exactly top of the line, but it does sit fairly above most out there, at least enough to fully utilize a RTX 3060 GPU. With my settings set to “Ultra” first, and with a resolution of 1440p, I was averaging around 50-60fps (frames-per-second). Sure, that’s right about where the original release is sitting with the 60fps patch for PS5, but in terms of overall picture and graphical enhancements, the original isn’t going to compete at the same level. That’s not to downplay the console version by any means, but naturally, the PC version has added bonuses if you have a good enough rig for it.

Nonetheless, on a performance level I was absolutely floored by how amazing it ran on my PC. For a title that was designed specifically for a closed platform, it’s astonishing how this release feels right at home on PC hardware.

Image quality is superbly crisp and clean on my 1440P monitor, with the frame-rate at a near 60fps lock. All that, running on Ultra setting and with no slowdowns whatsoever or heating issues. It’s a very optimized experience, something that console players are all too familiar with when it comes to PlayStation titles.

Other graphical improvements also include higher detailed shadows, which appear less pixelated and more smooth and natural in their appearance than the original PS4 version. Reflections have also been improved, though sadly no ray-tracing as they’re still based on space reflections.

If your using one of the Nvidia RTX line of GPU, you’ll also get full DSLL (FidelityFX for supported AMD GPUs) support that boosts frame rate while maintaining the image quality. My system was running closer to 75-90fps with this option turned on with Ultra presets, even higher on lower settings.

For the everyday PC gamers out there, this is without a question the best version to play, though I do recommend you use a controller over a mouse and keyboard setup.

Additionally, while Santa Monica and Jetpack Interactive aren’t supporting mods with an official tool release, that hasn’t slowed the community down, as there are already custom mods available. God of War looks incredible on PS4, and the official PC release even more, but community mods will go a long way. And a year from now there will be some impressive visual mods. A lot of potential there — one that PC gamers aren’t strangers to.

What’s more, when the Steam Deck finally releases, God of War will be fully playable on the go, and natively. Sure, it won’t compare to a fully decked out system, but the option of having it available on the go that makes this PC port so exciting.

Either way, what we have here is an excellent port of an already excellent experience. No compromises made just for the sake of a quick cash grab. This being the first PC port handled by Jetpack Interactive for Sony Interactive Entertainment, I say they’ve earned another chance to work on future ports.

A Tale of a Father, Risking It All for His Son

It’s been over a decade and a half since God of War made its debut on the PS2. For me, it was a game like no other with its immense level of violence, all propelled by a rage fueled, ruthless, uncaring, god killer. Kratos was a savage, an animal that only sought self pleasure and not once showed any remorse for his own actions.

Sure, he had his past brought to light, as well as some emotions outside of anger displayed in the latter God of War games, but for the most part Kratos was known as the angry bald guy. I never had an issue with that, and absolutely consider the God of War series as one of the best out there. However, Kratos’ revenge seeking story concluded with God of War 3 with a cliffhanger that left many wondering where Santa Monica would go with the franchise.

The answer to that question was a soft reboot, one that would prove to be largely risky with a payoff equally as big.

God of War 2018 was a massive departure from the series in general. It moved away from its fast paced combat to a more personal, over the shoulder hack-and-slash experience which would divide fans. However, the biggest change would be to Kratos himself, that would solve the biggest criticism out there. How do you turn a character with 15 years of history as being known as nothing as that “angry generic bald guy” to someone more relatable? By giving him a completely fresh start without ignoring anything before.

I would have been fine with Santa Monica developing a God of War game that followed the same vein as the last ones, but God of War 2018 certainly isn’t that. With the realm of Olympus destroyed, Kratos finds himself in Norse mythos. It is here that he has been able to once again fall in love, and start a new family of his own. Those brief moments of humanity that Kratos has shown previously are now fully embraced by the god killer, no longer seeking the blood of his enemies.

Where God of War (2005) opened up to Kratos being tricked into killing his own family, thus starting his path of revenge, God of War 2018 opens to Kratos coming to the acceptance of the death of his new wife and taking responsibility to his son in fulfilling her last wishes. A stark difference between the Kratos of now and the one from a decade ago.

However, despite wanting to change and be better, Kratos is haunted by ghosts of his past. Unable to forgive himself, this self portrayal prevents him from forming the fatherly bond that his son Atreus seeks, creating a dynamic between the two that is full of conflict. So much so, that the duo eventually finds themselves crossing paths with the gods living in this new realm. Having no quarrel with them, Kratos must learn to finally let go, making the story of God of War not about the lust of revenge, but the journey and the bonds that form during it.

It’s a compelling story that is highlighted by the strong writing, performed incredibly by its actors. All the characters are as much as relatable as they are believable in this newly created world. I didn’t care much for Kratos on a personality level before, and despite his past and all his flaws, I absolutely love his newly added depth. It’s revitalizing to see his transformation, and his evolution from brute to a loving father.

His son, Atreus, is the one to thank for that, as while I typically find child actors in video game to be annoying, his growing relationship with Kratos is one that left had me look deep into my own emotions.

Even the gods in this realm all are relatable, despite how little interaction you have with some. They boast power, yet there is fear in their eyes; a hint of humanity that lends vulnerability to these characters. Baldur, the main antagonist is essentially an unstoppable, unkillable machine, yet all he wants is to be able to be like everyone else. To be able to feel pain, to be at risk of potentially dying any moment, yet he is cursed by his mother to never feel pain. There is a pain that can be heard in his own voice that drives him to push others. Kratos sees a lot of himself in him, which creates a kind of connection between them, despite their differences.

Simply put, I loved it — every minute from start to finish. The story of God of War is one well worth venturing through.

A World to Play God In

The portrayal of Kratos isn’t the only drastic change that God of War 2018 brings. As noted before, the gameplay has shifted from its frenetic, fast-paced, combo-chaining combat to something that feels personal, with an over-the-shoulder camera and undeniably, slower paced combat. It’s still a hack-and-slash game, but it blends itself on the side of being geared towards an RPG.

For longtime fans of the series this may be the part where you either like it or don’t. It’s a drastic change, and on the part of Santa Monica, extremely ballsy to essentially give fans a completely different game with an established IP. It shouldn’t work, yet miraculously it does.

The combat feels familiar in a sense that you can still perform a number of combos tied to snazzy flashy attacks. However, you aren’t taking on hundreds of enemies at once, but instead a few or maybe 10 enemies (tops). To this effect, you lose the blood fest that you got from previous God of War games, but it’s replaced with combat that feels more impactful, and more adjustable to suit a player’s playstyle.

Gear, for example, have different attributes, and weapons can be upgraded with different mods. It’s not about facing off against the next boss to get a new weapon, but now about how much you can do with what you already have. This gives the general combat a RPG touch, as you can make builds that are suited for damage, defense, speed, amongs other things.

Seeing all this in the new perspective makes it all so satisfying, especially since weapon swapping returns. Going from using the Leviathan Axe, to Kratos’ own fist, there was a joy that I got from past God of War games. The axe is an incredible weapon, far different from the Blades of Chaos, but Kratos’ own fists? It’s like the brutal showdowns from God of War 3, only with every encounter. There are lots of variety and customization for the players to explore.

Speaking of exploration, God of War is no longer a linear hack-and-slash, but a semi-open world game. I had my doubts when I first heard God of War was heading in that direction, mostly because I firmly believe not every game needs to go open-world. However, Santa Monica didn’t default to making a cookie cutter world, but instead pumped out as much life into it as they could. There are a plethora of side missions available to players to complete, as well additional story content to be experienced. Not once did I ever feel like I was playing a game of repetition when diving into the side content of God of War. That enjoyment is only further enhanced as Atreus and Mimir will use the opportunity to tell stories of epic quests of the gods of this realm. I found that I learned more about characters such as Baldur, Thor, Odin, and many other than the main quest had. In short: side quests was content that offered more than just gameplay.

A God Conquering Machines

If the God of War PC port is anything to go by for the future of PlayStation titles on PC, then I say to all PC gamers out there — be excited. While PlayStation started their venture on PC to a rather rocky start with ports of Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn (both plagued with technical issues), they have certainly taken notes, delivering their best when it comes to the rerelease of God of War. This is the AAA quality that PlayStation gamers have been experiencing for over the last three decades, and now, it’s finally time for this greatness to arrive to a whole new audience of gamers.

Score: 10/10

Pros:

  • The story is an absolute masterpiece propelled by its strong writing, and incredible acting.
  • A blend of classic and RPG elements makes the combat superbly satisfying.
  • Side content well worth playing through. No cookie cutter missions here.
  • Didn’t mention music in review, but composition is spectacular.
  • Visuals are stunning, as is the performance. Very optimized
  • As a PC port, this excels every expectations. Tons of options to play around with. The best port from Sony yet, and sets a gold standard for the company.

Cons:

  • Long time fans may feel alienated by the story and gameplay changes from past God of War

Ex-Battlefield Devs Comment on Battlefield 2042 Missteps; Asks If Quality Control Was Non-Existent

By now, it’s no secret that Battlefield 2042 has failed to live up to expectations from both fans, and even EA. In addition to that, it seems even ex-Battlefield devs from DICE have spoken up about the game’s issues.

Over on Twitter, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Lead Designer David Goldfarb has made the following tweets regarding Battlefield 2042:

Given Goldfarb issued a series of tweets, we’ve collected it below for an easier read.

just watched @StodehTV breakdown of BF 2042’s issues and having not played or watched footage before:

boy I have some questions about that product

Really trying to understand why some of these design calls were made. Why are there no smaller infantry maps? Why was 128 player count a thing that didnt seemingly have any accommodation for infantry? why are whole maps shipping without any detail art?

Was no one in control of quality over there? Who thought this experience honored the BF sandbox experience and took it forward? I’m astonished that there were this many missteps even knowing the obstacles from higher up.

and for all my friends and colleagues over there – ugh.

thinking about this now: but the best thing for DICE’s next would be to make 2143 and go forward in time and reclaim their mantle of combined arms badassery that they built their legacy on alongside a really unique IP they created

In addition to Goldfarb, Jaqub Ajmal, a former Producer at DICE who has worked on Batttlefield 1942 up to Battlefield V, has also commented on some of the things Battlefield 2042 hasn’t done rather well, though to a lesser extent.

Given how these two developers worked on some of the franchise’s best (if not the best) games in the franchise in Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2, I would say they kind of know what they’re talking about, no?

While DICE tries to salvage Battlefield 2042 with a new update set to hit sometime in March, David Goldfarb is working on Metal Hellsinger under his new studio The Outsiders. As for Ajmal, he is currently working as the Community Manager for the vampire battle royale game, Bloodhunt.

CrossfireX Upcoming Fixes Will Address Aiming, ADS, and More

In case you missed it, the free-to-play first-person shooter CrossfireX, as well as its single-player campaign officially launched on Xbox today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the game had a very smooth launch, as reports from players soon flooded social media, claiming that CrossfireX is plagued with a number of issues, from broken ADS, to an insane amount of aim acceleration along with many other issues. Well, it seems the developers have taken note of this, and have released a list of CrossfireX upcoming fixes they plan on rolling out.

Over on the official CrossfireX website, developers Smilegate revealed a list of feedback that they are currently working on resolving. This includes some of the big ones such as ADS breaking during aiming,  and the aim acceleration being off and making it damn near impossible to aim.

CrossfireX Upcoming Fixes:

1. ADS with CAR-4 – sometimes the aim-down sight goes in and out while shooting. This is a bug and will be fixed.

2. Aim settings – we hear your request for options to adjust aim acceleration and sensitivity settings. We are working on adding more detailed options for the analog stick including acceleration, sensitivity, dead zone and aim assist.

3. Sliding – the issue that sliding stops when colliding with the side of an object will be fixed. Also, we will improve the experience of speed reduction while sliding.

4. Boogieman imbalance – We will adjust so as not to be able to obtain additional points while being in the Boogieman state. Also, the ability of HP auto-recovery will be removed, and the difficulty of becoming the Boogieman overall will be increased.

5. More maps – several maps will be added for both Classic and Modern modes.

Hopefully this is all addressed very soon.

While it’s never fun when a game launches with loads of issues, I will say, given that the studio has quickly published a statement of them looking into the above issues, it may be wise to wait for the first update before jumping into CrossfireX. We’ll be sure to keep you posted when that update does go live, and hopefully that’s real soon.

How Ubisoft Sets the Stage for Far Cry 7 With Far Cry 6 DLC

Far Cry fans wondering where the series goes next may not have to look far, as the latest Far Cry 6 DLC seems to be setting the stage for what may eventually be Far Cry 7.

(Note: Major spoiler warning to those who haven’t completed Far Cry 6 and its three pieces of DLC. We suggest you go play those unless you want to be spoiled)

For those out of the loop, Far Cry 6 has received a number of DLCs based on the series’ past antagonists. Those being Vaas (Far Cry 3), Pagan Min (Far Cry 4), and finally Joseph Seed (Far Cry 5). While many would normally view these DLCs as fun little side content, it would seem a growing trend amongst all three of them is the added twist that they all have survived their original deaths. This doesn’t seem to be the case of giving players more closure for them either, as each villain hints at having involvements with one another, as well as teasing their own returns.

How Far Cry 3’s Vaas Survived and Where Is He Now

In Far Cry 3, Vaas is killed after multiple stabs from the main protagonist. For many, it was a rather lackluster death due to how little we got to actually spend with him. This eventually led to speculation that the character had survived this, though no concrete evidence was to be found.

When Far Cry 6 was announced many had speculated that it was a prequel, and that dictator Anton Castillo’s son may have been Vaas. That was soon clarified, as the events of Far Cry 6 took place long after Far Cry 3, making it technically a sequel in terms of releases.

However, not all seemed lost as the ending of Far Cry 6 featured a voice exchange between Juan and an unnamed smuggler. While no faces were revealed, longtime fans instantly recognized the voice belonging to actor Michael Mando, who previously voiced Vaas in Far Cry 3.

Far cry 7 Vaas

The first DLC drop for Far Cry 6, however, confirmed that Vaas is alive and very much insane as he is shown sitting near the ocean’s shore talking to a golf ball that has been sculpted to look like Jason Brody, the protagonist of Far Cry 3. He hints that he has big things planned with the scene cutting to credits.

How Far Cry 4’s Pagan Min Survived and Where Is He Now

far cry 7 pagan min

Pagan’s fate is a bit hard to determine, but the DLC leads us to believe that he is alive, as it is shown he is getting up after being shot. If this is indeed the case, with Far Cry 4 taking place in 2018, it would align with a lot of the references in Far Cry 6. Pagan’s face is plastered all over magazines, becoming a bit of a celebrity in Far Cry 6. This leads fans to believe he is alive. As for his whereabouts, little is hinted at here though we assume he is still in Kyrat.

How Far Cry 5’s Joseph Seed Survived and Where Is He Now

Far cry 7 Joseph Seed

The answer to Seed’s survival is already given to us at the end of Far Cry 5. Unlike the other two villains, Seed is never killed off, at least not until the New Dawn spin-off where players are finally given the option to kill him. However, what does seem to be certain is that the nuke did happen in Far Cry 5. The DLC doesn’t answer the exact whereabouts of Joseph Seed, but it is assumed that he is in his bunker, waiting out until the events of New Dawn.

How do All These Villains Connect and What Does This All Mean for Far Cry 7?

Well, if it wasn’t already clear, Far Cry 7, or whatever the next Far Cry entry may be called, does in fact appear like it’s being set-up to feature a team-up of some sort between all the villains. Whether they’re all allies or not, especially considering each game features different protagonists remains to be seen, but it does look like they will play major roles in the next Far Cry game.

The DLC for Far Cry 6 essentially retcons their deaths. Vaas is old now, with Pagan Min sitting from the sidelines and having fun, and Joseph Seed

In Vaas’ situation he has been linked directly to the end of Far Cry 6 in the form of a post-credit audio scene where he makes an exchange as a smuggler with Juan Cortez, a character players should be familiar with in Far Cry 6.

Now to avoid any confusion, the events of Far Cry 3 took place in 2012, while Far Cry 6 is set in 2022. A full ten years has passed since Vaas’ supposed death, yet the ending of Far Cry 6 confirms he’s still alive. Right around this time he would be around the age of 40, which would match his old man look in the DLC to follow. How Vaas ties in with the villains of Far Cry 4 and 5 is still being looked into, but what is certain is that he is still alive, with or without the DLC.

Pagan Min, Far Cry 4’s antagonist on the other hand does appear to have some connections to at least Far Cry 5. In his Far Cry 6 DLC it is revealed that Pagan Min had pre-recorded a message for his nephew Ajay in the event that he had died. He congratulated him on his rise to power, but then in a surprise twist revealed that he didn’t unload all his wealth on gold statues and other luxurious things. No, according to Pagan himself, he has been stockpiling a vault of nuclear weapons, all pointed at America due to him being tired of them getting involved in his affairs. While he doesn’t know exactly where they are pointed, he does mention Montana as one of the guesses. See where this is going now?

fary cry 7 nuke

It is assumed that the nuclear strike that Joseph Seed warns about is directly caused by Pagan. Ajay himself with this piece of information, effectively tying the two villains together.

As for Joseph Seed, his connections to the other Far Cry 6 villains isn’t as clear-cut as the DLC revolves around canonizing that the nukes did go off. Players were hopeful that this DLC would perhaps provide an alternative, but it seems that Montana does indeed get nuked. The DLC for Seed takes place in his mind, in what we assume is the time between Far Cry 5 and Far Cry New Dawn. It explains how Joseph ended the way he was in New Dawn essentially. However, there could be more to this as the DLC concludes with yet another audio clip, with Joseph stuck in denial that his wife is dead as he leaves multiple voicemails as if everything is still alright. This is clearly the breaking point for Joseph, the one that caused him to down the path of insanity in Far Cry 5. It is very possible that this may be hinting that everything that had happened in Far Cry 5 was all in Joseph’s head. Either way, unlike the other villains Joseph was never killed off in FC5. It wasn’t until New Dawn that players had the choice to do so, but there is little to indicate which is the canon ending there.

It’s also possible that New Dawn isn’t a part of the new line of story that Ubisoft is crafting with this DLC. The nukes still go off, but the events leading into New Dawn could very well be retconned for something new. That is anyone’s guess though. However, there is also the walk away ending, the one where we don’t see the nuke go off and all the characters walk away alive. There is some evidence that this is the canon ending, as an Easter egg found in Far Cry 6 states Hurk sent Boomer the dog to live on Yara. New Dawn had a grave site for Boomer, meaning the dog had perished, but with canonizing the walk away option, that doesn’t happen as Boomer is now in Yara.

What is even more interesting however is that this all may even tie into Far Cry 1 and 2, as the Jackal (Far Cry 2) was confirmed by Ubisoft recently to be Jack Carver (Far Cry 1). This would mean that we have a major arms dealer and smuggler, who could potentially be tied to Pagan as supplying him with the muclear weapons, as well as connections to Far Cry 6 and 5.

Far Cry 7 Jackal Jack Carver

It’s all very confusing to be honest, and technically all of these games do take place in different timelines given what happens throughout them. However, what Ubisoft has effectively done with the DLC is propose that there is a timeline where the fates of these villains don’t play out like they do in the game. Granted, Vaas is alive regardless, but this does give Ubisoft the ability to bring both Pagan and Joseph back for Far Cry 7, or another spin-off, as well as The Jackal.

With the Far Cry 6 DLC so focused on tying each Far Cry game with one another, it would be a waste if Ubisoft didn’t follow through with it with a sequel that features all of Far Cry’s antagonists. They have certainly written explanations as to how they all can still be alive, and for fans, it could finally give them the proper send off for each character that they have been asking for since their conclusion.

Will Far Cry 7 feature a sinister six inspired group of villains? Or perhaps we are looking into this too much? Leave us your thoughts! Oh, and in case you haven’t already, be sure to read up on our Far Cry 6 review.

Sledgehammer Games has not released the official patch notes, and we suspect the studio won’t release it until later today or when Season 2 starts on February 14. That said, we do know the new content incoming for Vanguard multiplayer and Zombies based on the roadmap announcement by Activision.

Vanguard Multiplayer Updates:
  • Prove yourself in Ranked Play. Launching alongside the 2022 Call of Duty League season, expect to begin your Ranked journey and play like the pros.
  • Two new Multiplayer maps. Duck through the busy streets of Casablanca or partake in some ski-shooting in Gondola, two midsized maps ready to be mastered.
  • Free Perks, Killstreak, and Equipment in Battle Pass. Prepare to switch up those Loadouts and shoot for a 12-Killstreak — the Season Two Battle Pass is stocked with free Multiplayer content for all to use.
  • Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Vanguard with a themed experience with some Double XP opportunities
  • Arms Race and Vehicles. An Arms Race with Armored War Machines is bigger than infantry combat, it’spiloting Motorcycles, Squad Transport Vehicles and tanks.
Vanguard Zombies Updates:
  • Dimensions shift and the Dark Aether opens. The undead assault heats up in Egypt’s Eastern Desert, where a portal to the Dark Aether opens alongside other new arenas
  • A new Artifact gives you strength to conquer the Deceiver. Vercanna the Last joins the fight to tend to your squad’s wounds with Healing Aura… and aid against the three-faced Zaballa the Deceiver.
  • Wonder Weapons to aid with new Objective & Story Quest. Wield the Ray Gun and Decimator Shield alongside new armaments as you partake in Sacrifice and uncover the secret to defeating Kortifex.

Expect new Operator skins to be available starting today as well, other cosmetic items, which you can check out here.

Once we know the official patch notes, we’ll be sure to update the post.

FRIEND/PARTY COLOUR

Ah the old friend colour/party colour debacle. See, here’s the thing, we now know that the friend colour is broken on console, but it was ALSO only ever meant to change the colour of someone who is on your friends list. We don’t actually have a setting to change the colour of people in a party in the game at all. That said: we have heard the community though and it’s become obvious that that is something that you want, a lot, so we will be taking some time to flesh that feature out. More on that when we have made some progress!

IN CLOSING

We love Sandstorm just as much as our players and we are proud of all that we’ve accomplished so far, however we realise that there are issues still yet to be addressed and we are dedicated to continuing to fix bugs in our game. All of us here at NWI appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work to address these issues.
