COD Vanguard Playlist Update for January 20 Released

Sledgehamer Games might have delayed the release of Season 2 into mid-February, but there is a playlist update now. The COD Vanguard playlist update for January 20 is now live! Check out the details below, and nope, there are no gameplay-related adjustments for this week’s playlist update.

COD Vanguard Playlist Update for January 20:

Featured Playlists have been updated in #Vanguard!

➕ Zone Blitz
➕ Trifecta TDM (Red Star, Gavutu, Oasis)
➕ Patrol (Combat Pacing: Assault)

Ship Haus 24/7 and Champion Hill Duos/Trios remain.

For those who still haven’t gotten the game yet, go read our review here, where we state, “Vanguard comes at an awkward time for Activision, and into a sea of competition. While the campaign is decent, it’s nothing to write home about, and the Zombies experience probably should have been delayed altogether. For Call of Duty, multiplayer is where it counts though and they’ve managed to put together a solid offering this year. Kudos to the teams at Sledgehammer Games and the other COD studios for managing to do so on such a tight deadline, in the midst of a global pandemic.”

Battlefield 2042 Renewal Map Pulled From PS4, Xbox One Rotation Due to “Decreased Stability”

Following today’s Battlefield 2042 3.2 title update, it seems to have affected the game negatively on some platforms. For those on last-gen (PS4, Xbox One), DICE has announced that Battlefield 2042 Renewal map has been pulled from rotation due to issues.

Over on Twitter, the official Battlefield Direct Communications account states that the Renewal map was pulled due to “decreased stability” for PS4, Xbox One gamers playing on the map.

We’re seeing decreased stability for players on Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 when playing on Renewal

As a temporary measure, we’ve removed this map from rotations on affected platforms and will keep you updated on when we’re able to add it back in

Hopefully, this is sorted as soon as possible, and can be fixed server-side so that no patch needs to be released for it.

If you notice any other game-breaking bugs or issues that stemmed from today’s patch, leave a comment below to let us know, or send us an email (tips@mp1st.com). We’ll credit you if we do run it.

Aliens Fireteam Elite Update 1.16 Out for Various Fixes This Jan. 20

Cold Iron Studios has released the Aliens Fireteam Elite update 1.16 (PS5 version 1.016) patch this January 20, and this one is for various changes and fixes. Check out the Aliens Fireteam Elite patch notes for December 17 below.

Aliens Fireteam Elite Update 1.16 Patch Notes | Aliens Fireteam Elite Update 1.016 Patch Notes | Aliens Fireteam Elite January 20 Patch Notes:

PATCH 1.0.2.92826

We have implemented the following changes:

LOSS OF PROGRESS
  • Xbox & Game Pass:

Fixed an issue where Xbox and Game Pass players might lose progress when swapping profiles, or if they loaded into a game without first loading the title screen. If any issues do persist, please let us know via our Bug Report channel on our official Discord server.

WEAPONS & ATTACHMENTS
  • The DT-57 Medved, Type 21 Tactical Shotgun, and Type 76 Auto Shotgun now use fixed spread patterns, instead of a rotating spread pattern.
  • Priming Magazine now refreshes itself on subsequent reloads, instead of needing the duration to complete before it can be reapplied.
  • Fixed an issue with explosions that would cause them to deal the same damage to all targets. The damage dealt by explosions now properly falls off based on each target’s distance from the explosion.
  • Fixed an issue where the Extended Flash Hider and Overloaded Rounds Attachments dealt friendly damage.
  • Fixed muzzle flash visuals when using the Anti-Material Brake Attachment.
  • Fixed an issue with many automatic weapons that could cause them to have additional delay between bullets when firing them single shot/semi-automatically. Firing these weapons semi-automatically should now be much more responsive. The following guns were affected by this change: M10 Auto Pistol, Rapid Responder, M39 SMG, X43 Barrage, PPZ-49 Vol, Type 76 Auto Shotgun, M41A2 Pulse Rifle, Kramer Assault Rifle, L36 Halberd, Type 88 Heavy, EVI-81 Zvezda Plasma Rifle, and the Microburst.
  • Fixed an issue where double clicking to fire would skip the spin up time on the L59 Minigun.
  • Hardened Incendiary Sentry Guns should now correctly deal damage over time.
ANIMATION
  • Fixed an issue where using Emotes with the Phalanx Class Kit while their shield is deployed would cause the animations to clip.
  • Fixed an issue with the reload animation for the Frontier Revolver.
  • Fixed an issue where some weapons would play the reload animation twice before actually reloading.
AUDIO
  • Doc’s Anesthesiologist Perk will no longer trigger a negative beep SFX when a player was hit by Spitter acid.
  • Adjusted weapon audio to be more impactful
  • Deploying multiple turrets will no longer cause audio issues.
  • Made various audio optimizations and adjustments.
  • Added SFX for Challenge Card completion or failure in the mission end screen.
  • UI SFX will no longer be dropped as a result of audio prioritization
  • Players will no longer say ‘Rebooting’ when reviving Hoenikker.
  • The audio notification for a player joining the queue will now only play once when two or more players join at the same time
  • Intercom announcements in the hub will now be inaudible when the Sound fx volume setting is set to 0.
CAMPAIGN
  • The Only Way to be Sure: Search: AI companions should no longer run ahead by themselves at the start of the Mission.
  • Priority One: Rescue: Players should no longer get stuck when vaulting over cover into a maintenance synth.
ENEMIES
  • Fixed an issue where elite enemies would sometimes instantly die after grappling a player.
ENVIRONMENT
  • Optimized the Point Defense map.
  • Fixed minor visual issues on the terrain in the Point Defense Map.
  • Fixed an issue where elite enemies could not attack players in a specific area of the Horde Mode map.
  • Point Defense: players should no longer see an unintentional cube when interacting with defense points.
  • Made environment improvements in the “The Only Way to Be Sure” campaign.
GAME MODES
  • Addressed an issue where some players were unable to access Point Defense and Horde Mode when offline.
  • Attachments introduced in Season 2 will now also drop from Point Defense and as bonus rolls from successfully completing Challenge Cards. All 13 Season 2 Attachments are now obtainable by completing Point Defense on Intense difficulty or higher.
  • Point Defense: Players should no longer be able to trigger the cave-in before all players have loaded into the mission.
  • Point Defense: Adjusted difficulty on Extreme and Insane levels by reducing the number of Elite enemies that spawn during phases 2 and 3. Increased the health of the defense points in higher difficulties.
KITS
  • Technician: Fixed an issue where the Technician’s Flame Turret wouldn’t fire at critters through animated doorways.
  • Technician: Real-Time Resource Reclamation Perk now works properly with Ability Recharge bonuses. Additionally, the delay before it explodes on death has been reduced.
  • Gunner: Incendiary Burst Ability now visually scales with Radius increases.
  • Phalanx: Shock Pulse and Concussion Pulse Abilities now visually scale with Radius increases.
  • Doc: Suppression Station Ability now increases size correctly when combined with radius perks.
UI
  • Fixed an issue where the Egress point at the end of a Point Defense mission would show the wrong icon on the Motion Tracker.
  • Fixed an issue where Weapon Colors would not apply if a player exited the menu from the Weapon Appearance screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the Sidearm UI prompt would still show in instances where Sidearms are disabled, like when certain Challenge Cards are in use.
GENERAL
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when using the Smooth Bore Barrel Attachment with specific weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies would sometimes fall through the floor.
  • Firing weapons while on the Endeavor should no longer track toward Lifetime Stats.

Hitman 3 Update 1.09 Patch Notes; Kicks Off Year 2 This Jan. 20

IO Interactive has released the Hitman 3 update 1.09 (PS5: 1.009) January 20 patch, which brings Year 2 content and more! For the new content and patch notes, head on below.

Hitman 3 Update 1.09 Patch Notes | Hitman 3 Update 1.009 Patch Notes | Hitman 3 Year 2 Patch Notes:

HITMAN 3 Year 2 starts today, with the release of the Year 2 Patch (3.100)! This update will prepare the game for the arrival of new content, which was recently revealed in our HITMAN 3 Year 2 blog post, as well as bring improvements and bug fixes.

Year 2 will launch with a brand new game mode: Elusive Target Arcade, support for PC VR, and welcomes new players to the World of Assassination through Steam and Game Pass releases. Read on for more practical information on all of that, as well as the full list of fixes for this patch.

HITMAN 3 – Year 2 Patch Overview

HITMAN 3 will be updated to version 3.100 on all platforms; PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia and Switch. You can check the current game version that you are playing, by looking at the bottom of the Options menu.

Patch Release Time: Thursday 20th January 2022, 1pm UTC aka 2pm CET
Patch size: Between 2GB and 3.5 GB on all platforms.

HITMAN Trilogy / Game Pass Release Time: Thursday 20th January 2022, 1pm UTC aka 2pm CET
(Please be aware that the H3 servers will be in maintenance when HM Trilogy launches)

Steam Release Time: Thursday 20th January 2022, 6pm UTC aka 7pm CET
(The Steam release is set to 7pm CET to enable us to coordinate the release with Valve in Seattle.)

Maintenance: We will take the HITMAN 3 servers offline one hour before the release of the patch in preparation of the release. Once the patch is available, players will be able to download and install it. The game servers for each platform will come back online once they’ve been checked and verified. Updates will be posted to the official @IOInteractive Twitter account.

Cloud: Stadia and Switch players do not need to download or install the patch. They will get access to the latest version when they launch the game after the above time.

HITMAN 3 – Year 2 Patch New Content

Elusive Target Arcade

Elusive Target Arcade is a brand new game mode that takes the Elusive Target concept to the next level, mixes up the formula and introduces new challenges and unlockable rewards – all whilst keeping the essence of what makes Elusive Targets exciting and interesting to play.

On January 20, our launch batch of 3 Arcade Contracts will be added to HITMAN 3, one for each game in the trilogy. Across the launch batch of Arcade Contracts, you’ll be able to revisit 11 different ETs across 10 locations. The three contracts will be permanently available via the Arcade, whether you succeed or not. If you succeed in all missions of a given Arcade Contract, you’ll be able to ‘reset’ the contract and immediately play from the start. Failure at any point is met with a 12-hour lockout. Read more about Elusive Target Arcade in our Year 2 Reveal blog post.

Elusive Target Arcade will also bring new rewards to the table and the first one available is the Krugermeier 2-2 Dark. Complete any one of the Arcade Contracts in the launch batch to add it to your inventory.

HITMAN VR on PC

HITMAN VR arrives for HITMAN 3 on PC and all supported PC platforms: Epic Games Store, Steam and Windows PC (Microsoft Store). Plus, we’re supporting the entire World of Assassination trilogy. If you can access HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 within HITMAN 3 (Standard, Deluxe or Trilogy) on your PC, you can play it all in VR. Read more about it in our Year 2 Reveal Blog.

For details about supported hardware and minimum specs, see our PC VR Player Support Page.

HITMAN 3 on Steam

At 7pm CET on January 20, we’ll manually be pressing the buttons to release HITMAN 3 Standard Edition, HITMAN 3 Deluxe Edition and HITMAN Trilogy on the Steam Store. This will allow us to coordinate the release at a time that fits with IOI in Copenhagen and Valve in Seattle. There won’t be any ‘coming soon’ page before this time, so we’ll be going from 0-100 once those buttons are pressed. The expected download size for HITMAN 3 is 65GB.

We’re releasing with support for Steam Achievements and Trading Cards – plus we’ll be including the Trinity Pack (the HITMAN 3 pre-order bonus) for free with all editions of HITMAN 3 mentioned above for the first 30 days.

If you’ve already played HITMAN 2 on Steam, the locations that you can access in that game will automatically be converted into an ‘Access Pass’ for HITMAN 3. These will be applied to your account and the locations should be available and ready to play from the first time you launch the game. Plus, you’ll be able to carryover progress from HITMAN 2 on Steam into HITMAN 3, but this process is not automatic. More details about progression carryover is on our Progression Carryover Player Support page.

HITMAN Trilogy

HITMAN Trilogy brings together the World of Assassination trilogy into a single package as a way for new players to get started in Agent 47’s universe. HITMAN Trilogy will be available digitally, starting at 2pm CET on January 20 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Epic Games Store, Steam (7pm CET), Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. More details are on our HITMAN Trilogy Player Support Page.

HITMAN Trilogy is available digitally on January 20 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Epic Games Store, Steam, Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.

HITMAN 3 RESOLVED ISSUES (Year 2 Patch: 3.100)

PS5hhhhhhhh
We’ve resolved an issue where audio could abruptly cut out or become muted during gameplay. This issue was especially prominent on PlayStation 5.

Xbox Access
We’ve resolved an issue where some Xbox players could intermittently lose access to content. After an investigation, we’ve identified that players who owned a lot of different Hitman content on the same console were most likely to be affected.

Improved Stability
We’ve made back-end changes to ensure a smoother online experience and reduce the number of ‘disconnection’ issues encountered by players.

Epic Achievements
We’ve added support for Epic Achievements and Avatars. More details can be found on the Epic Games Blog.

Windows PC Support
In addition to Epic Games Store and Steam, HITMAN 3 and HITMAN Trilogy are now available on Windows PC (Microsoft). Players on this platform (including PC Game Pass players) will have access to their existing HITMAN 3 progression that was earned playing HITMAN 3 on any Xbox console. That progression will also be synchronised between Xbox consoles and the Windows PC (Microsoft) versions of the game. Also, any Contracts created on this PC platform will be shared with Xbox console players and vice versa. These features are possible because Xbox Live is the central service that brings the two platforms together.

Shoulder Swap Controller
We’ve implemented a permanent fix for the ‘Shoulder Swap’ option, so that it’s now available when playing in Offline Mode with a controller.

Target Down Dialogue
We’ve implemented richer NPC dialogue that triggers when certain NPCs discover a target or VIP has been pacified, eliminated, or otherwise hurt. They will refer to them by name in several ways, such as when reporting their knowledge to a guard.

Lens Flare Reduction
We’ve resolved a handful of issues that could result in an excessively strong lens flare when certain light sources met reflective surfaces.

2 Easy 2 Silent
We’ve tweaked the unlock conditions for the ‘Silent Assassin’ trophy so that it unlocks more consistently according to the requirements.

Challenge Display
We’ve fixed an issue that could cause the menu UI to incorrectly display the mission that a challenge could be completed on. Now, the game will be more accurate when displaying what mission is best suited to complete a given challenge.

Glass Smash
We’ve resolved an issue where several glass panes were missing SFX when being smashed.

HUD Flash
We’ve resolved an issue where some HUD icons and messages would repeatedly flash during gameplay, depending on specific player actions.

We Use This To Fix
We’ve resolved an issue where the Versatile Assassin challenge on ‘The Author’ (H1 Patient Zero campaign mission) did not unlock, despite completing all the requirements. To ensure that the challenges are completed and tracked accurately, we recommend players complete all objectives and end the mission.

Dubai: Deadly Elevator
We’ve resolved an issue where NPCs that were attacked and thrown down an elevator shaft in Dubai would be pacified rather than killed. Now, only death awaits.

Dartmoor: Outdoors, Indoors
We’ve resolved an issue where 47 could see through a specific wall from outside the mansion in Dartmoor.

Chongqing: You’re Dead to Me
We’ve made changes to several areas in the Chongqing, so that any NPCs that find themselves outside of the playable area are classified as ‘killed’ and the bodies are ‘hidden’.

Chongqing: Table, No Table
We’ve tweaked the properties of an ‘invisible table’ in the Gluttony Gobble Escalation. Basically, it’s gone.

Mendoza: No Soup For You
We’ve resolved an issue where Agent 47 would be unable to move without being spotted, when starting as the Asado Chef.

Mendoza: Overly Persistent Prompt
We’ve removed a ‘prompt’ icon from near one of the persistent shortcuts in Mendoza.

Mendoza: Rich Harvest
We’ve made the Rich Harvest trophy/achievement slightly easier to unlock by not requiring the completion of a ‘hidden’ mission story on Mendoza. This should remove confusion amongst players who appeared to have fulfilled the requirements but did not receive the trophy/achievement.

Mendoza: Diana Dialogue
We’ve resolved an issue that could cause Diana’s dialogue not to trigger at the start of the Mendoza campaign mission.

Bangkok: Unusual Identity
We’ve resolved several issues where NPC names and images did not match up with the actual NPC in Bangkok.

Credit Where It’s Due, 3.100
We’ve updated the in-game credits where needed to reflect work done since the last patch, including new members of the team that have joined.

That’s about it for this major patch.

Sony Expects Microsoft to “Ensure Activision Games Are Multiplatform”

The whole gaming industry is still reeling in from the massive announcement of Activision Blizzard’s purchase by Microsoft, and we are now beginning to see what other major publishers think of this historic deal. Sony and PlayStation, Microsoft’s longstanding competitor in the gaming space, have released a statement expecting the Xbox company to “ensure Activision games are multiplatform,” which should clue in people of Sony’s current deals with Activision’s Call of Duty franchise.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the PlayStation publisher issued a statement on the massive gaming deal, and it says volumes despite being quite brief:

“We expect that Microsoft will abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure Activision games are multiplatform,” a Sony spokesperson states.

This statement seems fair, and Microsoft will most likely honor these “contractual agreements.” Deathloop, a Bethesda title, was part of an exclusive deal to release it first on PlayStation consoles, and despite Microsoft’s purchase of the publisher, they have honored this exclusivity. It’s highly likely that Sony has exclusive deals with Activision’s Call of Duty series as well.

All of that said, there’s no telling what will happen once those “contractual agreements” end. As proven by both Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield, these Microsoft acquisitions were made in order to secure exclusives, and it should not be a surprise to many if Call of Duty in two years or so will be exclusive to both PC and Xbox.

In case you missed it, here is a list of all the known IPs acquired by Microsoft after its historic purchase of Activision Blizzard.

Rainbow Six Extraction Easter Egg References the Megalodon

Ubisoft’s new game is releasing today, and even though it has not yen been a full day out someone has already managed to find a Rainbow Six Extraction Easter Egg for those gamers who enjoy these references. Spotted by a YouTuber named DANNYonPC, the Easter Egg appears to reference the mighty Megalodon, the extinct prehistoric shark that is the bane of divers and other seafaring adventurers in monster horror movies. Check out the video showing the Rainbow Six Extraction Easter Egg below.

As shown in the video, the location for the Easter Egg seems to be located in the Liberty Island waiting room. A figure sitting out in a boat in the middle of a body of water can be shot several times, after which a a rather janky animation of the Megalodon reveals itself swallowing both the boat and the figure sitting in it.

Check out our review of Rainbow Six Extraction here, where Sean wrote, “Ultimately, Rainbow Six Extraction is two conflicting games; a realistic shooter that clashes with fantastical (and dull) science fiction game and they just don’t go together. It’s clear the intention is to dole out progress slowly in hopes of players continuing to replay missions over and over to unlock more operators, maps and content. But for that to be viable the game has to be fun. And Rainbow Six Extraction just doesn’t offer anywhere close to the addictive fun (or fun at all) something like this needs to have in order to thrive. I haven’t hated a game this much in a long, long time.”
