The anime adaptation of Ryo Hazuki’s story and his quest to avenge his father’s death finally gets a release date. Shenmue: The Animation has a new trailer, as well as a set premier date of February 5!
Here’s the beautifully animated teaser of the anime series that adapts the events of the first two games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pldV6eZdHWo
First released in Japan for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999, Shenmue is an action-adventure game created and directed by legendary video game designer Yu Suzuki. Originally conceived as a Virtua Fighter RPG title, the game instead spun-off into its own title and is set in the late 1980’s — chronicling the story of a young teenage martial artist named Ryo Hazuki. Witnessing his father’s murder at the hands of a mysterious Triad enforcer named Lan Di, Ryo embarks on a quest to avenge his dad and find out why he was killed. The first game covers the first chapter of the story and is set in Ryo’s hometown of Yokosuka, Japan. Shenmue 2 and 3 sees Ryo travelling to Hong Kong and China to continue his quest and discover more about his destiny.
The first Shenmue: The Animation teaser was released in New York Comic Con a few months back. The series will consist of 13 episodes, and will start airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami block this February 5.

Nintendo has begun rolling out the Nintendo Switch 13.2.1 System Update, though don’t expect anything major as this appears to be centered around stability.
Nintendo Switch 13.2.1 System Update Patch Notes
General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
While this update doesn’t bring anything new for users, chances are, Nintendo released this in hopes of combating potential system hacks that have been made available on the previous firmware. With Pokémon Legends: Arceus releasing in a little over a short week, the company is likely trying to limit potential piracy.
If there is anything hidden in this update, we’ll be sure to update this post, though that is very unlikely.

For those of you that own a Nintendo Switch, we’re here to be the bearer of bad news. as the Dying Light 2 Nintendo Switch release date has been delayed with no definite new date yet.
Techland has announced this latest development via an official press release. It will not be released on February 4, 2022 alongside the other consoles and PC versions. Bear in mind the Nintendo Switch version is played via the cloud so no downloading is required.
You can read a small statement from Techland concerning the delay of Dying Light 2 on Nintendo Switch.
“Techland today announces that the Nintendo Switch™ version of Dying Light 2 Stay Human (Cloud Version), previously planned for release on February 4, 2022, has been moved to a later date. Techland aims to deliver the game to the Nintendo Switch family within six months from the original date. All other platform releases remain the same and are locked for February 4, 2022.”
The main reason for the game’s delay is to make sure that the Switch version is polished upon release. Techland reiterated that “quality matters”, and that it was important for Nintendo Switch players to be patient for the game’s release.
As noted in the statement, Dying Light 2 Stay Human is still releasing on all other platform February 4.
Those looking for new content for Ghostrunner, you’ll have to wait a wee bit longer, as the Ghostrunner: Project_Hel DLC has been delayed to March 3 ! The developers are asking for more time to make some improvements while making sure their team is safe.
Announced on the official Twitter of the game, Slipgate Ironworks and One More Level explain why they made the decision to delay the DLC.
The global release of the Project_Hel DLC will be delayed to March 3rd. We appreciate your understanding and want all our fans to know that we will use this bonus time to make even more worthwhile improvements while ensuring the health & safety of our team and global partners. pic.twitter.com/NAf4Zvbo6K
First released on October 2020, Ghostrunner is a cyberpunk action game that sees players taking control of a blade fighter who seeks revenge and has to cut his way through enemies and obstacles to get it. The upcoming new DLC will allow gamers to take control of Hel — a boss character who is on her own mission as detailed from the game’s Steam page.
Initially planned as a smaller DLC, Project_Hel has grown into a full-blown Ghostrunner experience. Take control of Hel, one of the original games’ bosses, as she descends Dharma Tower on a bloody quest of her own. Designed to appeal to new players and veterans, she’s more combat-oriented and can survive an additional attack compared to the Ghostrunner.
Ghostrunner’s last update saw a new level for the game added, and you can see the details of that here.
In case you didn’t know, a new Halo Infinite patch dropped today that’s supposed to fix Big Team Battle (BTB) matchmaking issues and other stuff. Unfortunately, it seems the patch didn’t take! According to 343 Industries, the Halo Infinite BTB matchmaking issues are still persisting even after the patch, so if you’re still experiencing it, now you know why.
This was revealed by Halo Community Director Brian Jarrad over on Twitter:
Well, damn… today's BTB hotfix does not appear to be the outcome we expected. There are minor improvements, but overall matchmaking issues are still occurring. Thanks to the folks who have been working hard and we're sorry this didn't quite get the job done. Work continues. https://t.co/lKiFibBDtT
Well, damn… today’s BTB hotfix does not appear to be the outcome we expected. There are minor improvements, but overall matchmaking issues are still occurring. Thanks to the folks who have been working hard and we’re sorry this didn’t quite get the job done. Work continues.
As you can see, 343 is still working on it, and players should get a hotfix or something at some point soon. Once a new patch or server-side update is out for this, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
While Halo Infinite multiplayer is free to download on the Xbox Store, the single-player campaign is quite a romp as well. Our review gave it a solid 8.5/10 and said, “All in all, Halo Infinite is a worthy entry to this legendary franchise. That is an achievement by itself. But what I really appreciated is the fact that 343 took risks. These risks are things that could have completely soured the experience and turned away even the most diehard fans of the franchise. In the end though, those risks paid off. Infinite is in my opinion, 343’s best Halo title yet, and I couldn’t be more excited to see where it goes from here.”
Big Ant Studios is continuing their solid support fo Cricket 22, as a new title update is out on all platforms! The Cricket 22 update 1.20 (PS5 version 1.000.020) patch includes gameplay-related changes and are listed in the patch notes below.
343 Industries has rolled out a new Halo Infinite update for January 19, and true to their word, this includes improvements to Big Team Battle matchmaking, and more! Check out the complete Halo Infinite January 19 hotfix patch notes below.
Halo Infinite Update for January 19 Patch Notes | Halo Infinite January 19 Hotfix Patch Notes:

All players who sign into Halo Infinite between 10am PT on January 19th and 10am PT on February 16th, 2022 will receive 5 Double XP Boosts and 5 Challenge Swaps. These items will automatically be added to your inventory when you launch the game.
Minor physics improvement to the Oddball to mitigate exploits.
KNOWN CAMPAIGN ISSUES
Working with the developers, we have compiled a list of known issues. A few of the highest impact issues are:
When you purchase Halo Infinite Campaign in-game, there may be a delay of several minutes while the purchase is processed before you can play.
Equipment upgrades cannot be purchased in the Upgrades menu while using the Linear Navigation accessibility feature.
Fast travelling while dead may cause an endless load screen.
Workaround: Close Halo Infinite and reload the save game on the main menu.
It’s official, the Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone Season 2 update has been delayed to February 14, with the studios having revealed that they are needing more time to work on updates and polish things up for its players.
In a tweet posted by the official Call of Duty account, the team has thanked gamers for their patience and understanding and confirmed that the new Call of Duty Vanguard & Warzone Season 2 update release date to be February 14.
The Vanguard and Warzone team were pretty transparent on their reasons for the delay, as detailed in the latest status report post on the Call of Duty blog.
To date, we’ve deployed a number of updates, but more needs to be done. For this reason, we have decided to reschedule the start of Season Two across Warzone Pacific and Vanguard to February 14. We will use this additional development time to deliver updates, including optimizations to gameplay, game balancing (including weapon and equipment balancing), to fix game stability and bugs, and to ensure an overall level of polish to improve the experience for players across Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.
Previously Activision acknowledged the many issues and comments Vanguard and Warzone players had, and you can read what statement they released to the community here.
Rick and Morty character Mr. Meeseeks is set to get a Rainbow Six Siege skin, and players can customize their appearance to look like this character soon this January 20. The popular character from the Adult Swim series will be immortalized in the Ubisoft shooter via a new cosmetic, and you can check out more details below.
Ubisoft teased the addition of Mr. Meeseeks straight from the Rick and Morty franchise to Rainbow Six Siege via Twitter.
“Hi, I'm Mr. Meeseeks, Look at me!". Rainbow Six Siege and Rick & Morty teamed up again! Put on your favorite bundle and complete your mission. Available January 20th! pic.twitter.com/vzEBixJ9pC
First appearing in the episode “Meeseeks and Destroy” from the first season of Rick and Morty, a Meeseeks is typically a servant creature whose are somewhat like genies that grant their summoners a wish. As listed in the Rick and Morty fandom wiki, they are created to serve a single purpose.
Mr. Meeseeks is a blue humanoid character from the show Rick & Morty that poofs into existence upon pressing the button on the Meeseeks Box. Meeseeks are not born fumbling for meaning. They are created to serve a singular purpose to which they will go to any lengths to fulfill. Existence is pain to a Meeseeks.
As Rainbow Six Siege continues to add more content for its player base for Year 7, the game’s creative director recently vacated the position. The new director also penned a message to the community which you can read here.

This update brings several balance changes that allow smart movement and well placed attacks to better contest the aerial presence that some of the large weapons command. We have also increased the reliability of follow-up attacks for several underperforming Weapons. Some niche Signatures have also received improvements to allow them to be used in a wider array of situations, while some heavily used Signatures have received adjustments to their risk or reward to better match their overall utility.
Axe
The Axe’s largest light attacks can retreat too quickly after an attack, so we have decreased the amount of acceleration allowed during the Neutral Air and Down Air. The Down Light’s Recover time has been slightly increased to similarly emphasize the commitment of such a large attack.
Axe Down Light: Increased Recover time from 14 Fixed/9 Variable to 14 Fixed/11 Variable.
Axe Neutral Air: Decreased allowed acceleration during the attack.
Axe Down Air: Decreased allowed acceleration during the attack.
Hammer
Given the strong aerial threat the Hammer poses, we have decreased the amount of acceleration allowed during the Neutral Air to make it easier to contest or punish on miss. The Down Air now has a shorter Hit Window and greater Recover time on miss, opening wider avenues of escape and retaliation against this attack. The Time to Hit for the Hammer Recovery has been increased to make this attack easier to contest or escape from during off-stage scenarios.
Hammer Neutral Air: Decreased allowed acceleration during the attack.
Hammer Down Air: Decreased Hit Window from 13 to 11; Increased Recover time on miss from 3 Fixed/18 Variable to 4 Fixed/18 Variable.
Hammer Recovery: Increased Time to Hit from 10 to 12.
Katars
The Katar Neutral Air now has less Recover time on hit and greater Stun, granting more time for reliable follow-up attacks on hit. We have also slightly decreased the Recover time on miss for the Down Air’s ground collision, as this attack was slightly too punishable for its small range.
Katar Neutral Air: Decreased Recover time on hit from 1 Fixed/17 Variable to 0 Fixed/14 Variable; Increased Stun from a range of 23~16 to a range of 24~17.
Katar Down Air: Decreased Recover time on miss for the ground collision from 7 Fixed/10 Variable to 6 Fixed/10 Variable.
Orb
We have reduced the Damage of the Orb’s Neutral Air attack to reduce its overall rate of damage during aerial fights, as this attack is often used as a setup tool for stronger follow-up attacks.
Orb Neutral Air: Decreased Damage from 14 to 12.
Rocket Lance
The Rocket Lance Side Light now has a new version of setup location logic. This logic is more strict about where it leaves the target, allowing previous low damage follow-up situations to be done across a larger health range, while also preventing situations where the target is sent too far to attack at high damage ranges. We have also slightly increased the Neutral Air’s threat area for more reliable hits with the front and middle of this attack.
Lance Side Light: Changed to stricter setup location logic that also gradually changes setup location based on the target’s damage, similar to Gauntlets Down Light; Force changed from 30 Fixed/6 Variable to 55 Fixed/0 Variable.
Lance Neutral Air: Slightly increased threat area during the beginning and middle of the attack.
Scythe
We have slightly reduced the Hit Window of the Scythe’s Neutral Air attack to allow for more reliable escapes back to stage against this powerful aerial attack.
Scythe Neutral Air: Decreased Hit Window from 6 to 5.
Ada
Ada’s Neutral Blasters now has significantly less Recover time and greater Force to better match its relatively high demand of accuracy.
Ada Neutral Blasters: Decreased Recover time from 25 to 20; Increased Force from 60 Fixed/51 Variable to 60 Fixed/53 Variable.
Gnash
We have increased the Recover time of Gnash’s Neutral Spear and Neutral Hammer to better match their overall threat coverage and built in movement that can be difficult to punish.
Gnash Neutral Spear: Increased total Recover time from 22 to 24.
Gnash Neutral Hammer: Increased total Recover time from 15 to 17.
Mordex
Mordex Side Gauntlets and Down Gauntlets have had their force reduced to bring their knockout potential more in line with their respective threat coverage and utility.
Mordex Side Gauntlets: Decreased Force from 70 Fixed/52 Variable to 64 Fixed/50 Variable.
Mordex Down Gauntlets: Decreased Force of the forward version from 60 Fixed/49 Variable to 55 Fixed/44 Variable; Decreased Force of the neutral version from 60 Fixed/50 Variable to 55 Fixed/48 Variable.
Munin
Munin’s Side Bow now has greater Recover time to better fit its built-in movement and overall threat coverage. We have also reduced the Force of the Side Bow, Down Bow, and Down Scythe Signatures as they were scoring knockouts too early in most situations.
Munin Side Bow: Increased total Recover time from 12 to 14; Decreased Force of the wall and aerial bursts from 55 Fixed/43 Variable to 50 Fixed/41 Variable; Decreased Force of the ground version from 62 Fixed/51 Variable to 60 Fixed/50 Variable.
Munin Down Bow: Decreased Force from 60 Fixed/53 Variable to 58 Fixed/51 Variable.
Munin Down Scythe: Decreased Force of the grounded version from 65 Fixed/51 Variable to 60 Fixed/50 Variable; Decreased Force of the aerial version from 55 Fixed/45 Variable to 50 Fixed/42 Variable.
Petra
We have increased the Minimum Charge time of Petra’s Side Gauntlets to provide a wider opening for player’s to contest or dodge this attack.
Petra Side Gauntlets: Increased Minimum Charge time from 13 to 15.
Queen Nai
The Recover time of Queen Nai’s Neutral Katars has been significantly reduced to be more in line with other similar Signatures and to better serve as an anti-air attack.
Queen Nai Neutral Katars: Decreased total Recover time from 36 to 24.
Sir Roland
Sir Roland’s Side Rocket Lance now gains more momentum from movement, increasing its maximum threat range to be more in line with other similar attacks.
Sir Roland Side Rocket Lance: Increased momentum from movement such as a dash.
Ulgrim
Ulgrim’s Neutral Rocket Lance now has more consistently vertical knockback, allowing for slightly earlier knockouts in most situations. It also has slightly less forward movement before the attack and a shorter Minimum Charge time, allowing this Signature to more reliably strike opponents that are near the user.
Ulgrim Neutral Lance: The angle of knockback is now more vertical and more consistent; Slightly decreased forward movement during the Time to Hit; Decreased Minimum Charge time from 11 to 10.
Ulgrim Down Lance: Decreased total Recover time on miss from 25 to 22.

Just a few days ago, a Battlefield Portal dev admitted that it’s taking the studio (Ripple Effect Studios) “too long” to fix the nagging XP issues in the mode. Well, that’s about to change tomorrow! As part of the Battlefield 2042 patch out on January 20, BF Portal XP changes and more are incoming as well.
Over on Twitter, Ripple Effect announced some of the key changes incoming via a series of tweets. We’ve compiled those tweets for an easier read or you can read the Twitter tweet chain here.
Battlefield 2042 Upcoming BF Portal XP Changes:
Alongside Update 3.2 we’re making further improvements and adjustments to how you earn XP when playing in #Battlefield Portal
Alongside Update 3.2 we’re making further improvements and adjustments to how you earn XP when playing in #Battlefield Portal
Here’s a new thread with all the details
Tomorrow we’re increasing the per minute XP cap across all Battlefield Portal modes to 300
Obtaining XP usually comes in bursts, and our intent for this change is to reduce the frequency of XP bursts being capped during gameplay
We’re also changing how you’ll progress Mastery and Weekly Missions between created experience types
What you can earn in each experience will now be determined by which modifiers you use, and whether the Rules Editor, Damage/Health modifiers, or AI are enabled
Further improvements are planned for a future update, such as a UI indicator showing if a created mode will have Progression restrictions. We’ll let you know when they’re ready to go 👍
These changes go live tomorrow with Update 3.2 and Update Notes will be available later today
That seems to be a step in the right direction, but would it hurt Ripple Effect and DICE to just remove the cap completely and maybe think of another way to combat XP boosting?
Once the update notes for tomorrow’s patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
