Report: WWE 2K22 Release Date and Pre-Order Details Revealed

Even though more info about WWE 2K22 is set to be revealed later this week, some exciting new details have already been leaked. This includes the  reported WWE 2K22 release date as well as pre-order details too.

Over on Twitter, gaming journalist, Mike Straw, has shared more detailed cover for WWE 2K22 (which we reported on previously would feature Rey Mysterio). This includes not only the front cover, but the back cover for the game too.

For those of you buying the Deluxe Edition of the game, you can get early access on March 8, 2022. As for everyone else, the standard release date for the game is March 11, 2022. Much like other WWE video games in the past, there will be a bonus for those people that pre-order the game. If you pre-order, you get access to the “Undertaker Immortal Pack,” which is essentially three versions of The Undertaker that you can play as.

The cover also reveals that the game will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It does not look like a PC or Nintendo Switch version of the game will be up at launch. Same as with any unofficial news, treat this one with a grain of salt for now, as 2K Games has not officially announced it. That said, we do think it’ll be announced soon, and don’t be surprised if it is March 11.

In other WWE 2K22 news, Chyna’s social media people are pushing for the deceased wrestler’s inclusion in the roster! Read more about that here.

Update (1/20/21): As one might expect, the release date is indeed March 11, 2022! Check out the tweet below for a new trailer!

OlliOlli World Hands-On Preview – Shred On!

After nearly seven years passing since the last OlliOlli, Roll7 is finally back with yet another exciting sequel to the superbly fun skateboarding franchise. MP1st managed to get some early hands-on time with the follow up, and OlliOlli World maintains the same great gameplay you’ve all grown to enjoy, set in a whole new charismatic world filled with delightful charming characters. This is OlliOlli at its best.

It’s been a while since I’ve last played an OlliOlli game, so my motor skills weren’t exactly up to par with what they used to be. Thankfully, developers Roll7 understood this, as well as the high level of difficulty previous OlliOlli had, and therefore had accessibility in mind when it came to developing OlliOlli World. In every region available, players will find a number of tutorials that are crafted to teach the players to ease themselves into the controls.

It is perhaps the most accessible OlliOlli game out there, and while fans will no doubt feel right at home, they may be surprised to learn that there are some newer mechanics here and there. However, despite OlliOlli World being more accessible, veterans shouldn’t take that as an indication that the series is suddenly easier — far from it, as while most players will probably be able to make their way through, especially with the help of the checkpoint system, it’s the mastering of these stages and available move sets that will truly prove to be challenging.

Every stage in the OlliOlli World has the ultimate goal of making it to the end. At first, they start out short and easy, but as you progress and learn they quickly ramp up their difficulty. It is no longer is about going down a steep slope as fast as you can, but about how well you can chain tricks into one another to gain momentum to push through a variety of obstacles. Go too slow and you risk not making a jump, or go too fast and you overshoot it and crash into some sharp pointy objects.

You might breeze through the early stages, but be prepared to be restarting a level over and over again, just so you can try and earn that extra cosmetic reward from the unique challenges each stage has. And as tedious as that may sound, there is no better feeling than the satisfaction of performing these insane feats.

As far as what’s new to the franchise, if it wasn’t already clear from all the trailers, OlliOlli is sporting a whole new art direction shedding away its 2D pixel art for hand-drawn 2.5D. The results? Absolutely gorgeous. It is a beautiful blend of what I can only describe as a hybrid between Jet Set Radio and work done by Pendleton Ward (Misadventures of Flapjack, Adventure Time.) I mean, look at the background here and tell me you don’t get that same vibe. I just can’t help but fall in love with it.

While the art design brings a new level of charm and characteristic to the world of OlliOlli, it isn’t just for show. As mentioned, the visuals are now in 2.5D, meaning that while gameplay takes place mostly in a two dimensional plane, the environments and characters themselves are fully rendered in 3D.

Not only does this allow the world of OlliOlli to come to life, but it also serves as a way to further enhance the gameplay. In latter stages, players will come across alternative routes that are tucked away in the background. Specific zones are marked with arrows, indicating that players can shift between the different planes. While that certainly isn’t new to 2.5D games, the way Roll7 uses these different planes to their advantage is nothing short of astonishing. I loved the high speed thrills the originals provided, but OlliOlli World takes things to the next level.

Half-pipes will use this effect as well as they serve as ways to pivot back and forth between the background and foreground. At one point we even had a level where we had to race against a bear riding down a river. The way Roll7 intertwined the river itself through the level, crossing through sections that you would soar through. It’s great, and shows that Roll7 knows how to utilize the space they have.

And finally the music. It wouldn’t be an OlliOlli game if it didn’t mean a stellar soundtrack accompanied the incredibly fun gameplay. OlliOlli World holds no notes behind on that front as the soundtrack is as soothing, as exciting as it has ever been. Playing a really difficult level, spending hours hitting a wall because I can’t properly time my jump. It’s infuriating, but the music just has this vibrant assortment that I can’t help but feel an instant forgiveness that makes me want to keep going. Some samples for your delight.

All in all, OlliOlli World is looking to be one of those surprise hits out of nowhere, and despite February being crammed with major AAA releases, I highly recommend you don’t sleep on this one. There is little, if anything at all to dislike about OlliOlli. Roll7 pulls all their strength and crafting what I can only describe as a love letter to the OlliOlli franchise.

OlliOlli World releases on February 8 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Crossfire: Legion Hands-On Preview – Shaking Up the Barracks

Bit of a disclaimer here that I think must be said: I am not a hardcore RTS fan. My most memorable memory with the genre is playing StarCraft. However, with that being said, Crossfire Legion is a blast to play. Thanks to Koch Media, I was able to play a preview build of Crossfire Legion. I should note that the build only allowed for AI matches and because of that, that is what the preview will be based on.

Crossfire Legion is the typical RTS but with a Crossfire military spin on it. You have specific buildings that grant you higher populations to amass your army, upgrading specific units and of course, the buildings to create your army. Crossfire Legion seems to have nailed the perfect blend of various units, from ground to air and even one particular unit called Herald can create a temporary shield around nearby units. One of the things I found was nice that is offered in this game is if on-screen your units are getting attacked, it shows a red bar to the exact direction of where the attack is coming from. It is a nice little touch to keep you on your toes when attempting to wipe out the enemy. I am hoping as a Big Game Hunter fan from the StarCraft days that this mode can make its way to Crossfire Legion. If you are as much of a fan as I am, be sure to let the developers know that is something you would want in this game.

You have the option to pick from two factions so far and each faction has a commander that brings special abilities to the table. The first faction to dive into is The Global Risk Faction that features Cardinal as your commander. The special abilities he brings to the table are Fire at Will which launches an artillery barrage into the target area and Rally which grants a temporary rate of fire bonus and heals friendly units in a target area. The second faction is The Black List Faction with Phoenix as your commander. His special abilities are Ghost Core which deploys an outpost that provides a passive healing field to all nearby units. The last ability is Recall which teleports units in the target area to the Ghost Core Outpost and causes them to enter stealth mode.

If you think that with your years of RTS experience, you can just drop right in, you would be mistaken. Crossfire Legion offering its own flair brings in unique abilities as well for units that can be activated. I highly recommend going into an AI match to get yourself acquainted before trying to defeat people from around the world in matchmaking. I wasn’t able to choose the AI difficulty during my time with Crossfire Legion but the average match time was around 30 minutes. Just so you can have a ballpark on how long matches will take against the AI. Of course, the more experience you get with Crossfire Legion, the quicker matches will become.

Graphics has never been a concern for RTS games, at least in my opinion. Crossfire Legion does look as good as it needs to be. I was playing in 4K on Ultra settings during my time with the preview build and the details were crisp and nothing seemed to be amiss that would ruin the RTS experience. All of the callouts are well throughout and have a strong military presence that pulls you in for the next move you want to make. Selecting your units to move or attack is as easy as can be for any RTS. Can’t also forget the unit spawn points for buildings, that is always a time saver and a blessing to have in Crossfire Legion. With any RTS, memorizing the hotkeys is a surefire way to get your units out the fastest. Thankfully, the hotkeys are properly throughout in Crossfire Legion, not spread out all over the keyboard.

Overall, Crossfire Legion is shaping up to be a great RTS experience and is now available for Steam Early Access. As I mentioned above, be sure to let the developers know what you want in this game, one of the perks of it being Early Access is that it will be changing to become an even greater RTS title. More factions, commanders, and abilities are set to be revealed in the nearby future.

Crossfire: Legion is now available via Steam Early Access, and you can check more of it here.

The Cuphead Show Netflix Trailer Revealed; Release Date Set for February 18

One of the most beloved run and gun action games is getting an animated series and fans finally have their first look at it. The Cuphead Show gets its long awaited trailer, and this beautifully animated show comes to Netflix this February 18!

Check out the trailer to the upcoming new series based on Studio MDHR’s critically acclaimed game Cuphead!

Featuring the voice talents of Tru Valentino as Cuphead, Frank Todaro as his brother Mugman, and Luke Millington-Drake as The Devil, The Cuphead Show aims to bring to life the wonderful 1930’s cartoon inspired world of the game while also expanding on the story and misadventures of the young sibling duo!

If you’ve never played the game at all, here’s the overview of the plot from the game’s Steam page.

Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.

While we’re all waiting for The Cuphead Show to come out next month, Cuphead fans also have The Delicious Last Course DLC to look forward to this June, and you can read the details on that here.

Here Are All The Known IPs Microsoft Will Get From the Activision Purchase

Microsoft shocked the world of gaming today with the announcement of their acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and it is truly a big one. With the deal costing roughly $70 billion, it’s nearly 10 times the amount of their previous acquisition of Bethesda. That said, if you’re having trouble visualizing it in your head, here are the IPs Microsoft stands to get from this historical purchase.

The list was compiled over on Twitter, and it includes quite a number of IPs:

  • Blur
  • Caesar
  • Call of Duty
  • Candy Crush
  • Crush Bandicoot
  • Diablo
  • DJ Hero
  • Empire Earth
  • Gabriel Knight
  • Geometry Wars
  • Guitar Hero
  • Gun
  • Hearthstone
  • Heroes of the Storm
  • Hexen
  • Interstate 76
  • King’s Quest
  • Laura Bow Mysteries
  • The Lost Vikings
  • Overwatch
  • Phantasmagoria
  • Pitfall
  • Police Quest
  • Prototype
  • Quest for Glory
  • Singularity
  • Skylanders
  • Soldier of Fortune
  • Space Quest
  • Spyro the Dragon
  • Starcraft
  • Tenchu
  • TimeShift
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
  • True Crime
  • World of Warcraft
  • Zork

As you can see, it’s quite the list. However, outside of its big moneymakers like Call of Duty, Candy Crush, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft, Activision Blizzard has a ton of old IPs that are now severely underutilized. Here’s hoping that outside of those big moneymakers, Microsoft makes something of these older Activision Blizzard IPs; heaven knows we all need another Prototype game.

Shadow Warrior 3 Release Date Revealed; Coming This March 1

As revealed in its new PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store pages, the Shadow Warrior 3 release date is set for March 1, with the game releasing on PC and consoles. Check out more details on the release below.

Here’s an overview of the game via its official store page:

Fallen corporate shogun Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embark on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison. Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again. All it will take is the mask of a dead god, a dragon’s egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to hold off the impending cataclysm.

Key features

  • Bring a Katana to a Gunfight – Conduct a symphony of death with each encounter by mixing overwhelming firepower with devastatingly precise katana strikes as you dash in and around the demonic hordes.
  • Fancy Footwork – Flow between nimble movement techniques including air dashes, wall running, double jumps, and the fancy new grappling hook busts your combat and movement options wide open in every battle.
  • Execute Then Annihilate – Execute spectacular finishing moves to claim a piece of your conquered foe and unleash its powers back on the horde in a burst of unstoppable fury and powerful magic.
  • Dynamic Combat Arenas – Each environment is lined with hazardous structures and devices that can be activated to add another layer of creative choice to the offensive strategy.
  • Neo Feudal Japan – Trek across a mythic Asian land infused with the magic and technology of ancient samurai, now overrun by the demonic yokai from Japanese folklore.
  • Funny Business – Brace for expertly delivered one-liners from Lo Wang, pointed banter with Zilla, and an intense thrillride of absurd predicaments on the way to turning doomsday into a new day.

In case you missed it, the Shadow Warrior 3 release date has been very recently delayed to this year. Here’s hoping no more delays will happen in the coming months.

Shadow Warrior 3 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam this March 1.

Microsoft to Acquire Activision Blizzard for a Reported $68.7 Billion

A huge gaming deal set to break records is somewhere over the horizon, as Microsoft is near completion of its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the publisher behind the Call of Duty and Warcraft series. The official announcement comes minutes after several insiders leaked the deal, and it would appear that Microsoft has now confirmed it via an official blog post.

Here’s the announcement via the official post:

With three billion people actively playing games today and fueled by a new generation steeped in the joys of interactive entertainment, gaming is now the largest and fastest-growing form of entertainment. Today, Microsoft Corp. announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard Inc., a leader in game development and interactive entertainment content publisher. This acquisition will accelerate the growth in Microsoft’s gaming business across mobile, PC, console and cloud and will provide building blocks for the metaverse.

According to Dina Bass of Bloomberg, the deal is $68.7 billion; that is nearly 10 times the amount paid in Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, a huge number that is set to break records in terms of studio acquisitions.

As part of the terms of the acquisition, the official press release states that Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard’s current CEO, will still remain in his position:

Bobby Kotick will continue to serve as CEO of Activision Blizzard, and he and his team will maintain their focus on driving efforts to further strengthen the company’s culture and accelerate business growth. Once the deal closes, the Activision Blizzard business will report to Phil Spencer, CEO, Microsoft Gaming.

Microsoft has been hot on the heels of studio acquisitions lately, although this is certainly a surprise; just recently, after the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against some of the company’s higher-ups, Xbox’s Phil Spencer has stated that they are evaluating their relationship with Activision Blizzard. This acquisition is certainly a re-evaluation, but it remains to be seen if this one holds up.

It also begs the question of what will happen to the Call of Duty partnership with Sony. It’s no secret that the franchise has released multiple exclusive content on the PlayStation platform; how will this affect the partnership?

  • In rare situations when the ball was far from the ball carrier’s feet, a requested Pass or Shot could take too long to occur.
  • The defending player could unintentionally decelerate when chasing after an air ball.

  • In some situations, the CPU AI team would not attempt to win the ball back.
  • The CPU AI team could sometimes take too long to perform a free kick.
  • When the ball was received via chest following a lobbed pass, it could bounce high enough in the air to cause unintentional player switching.
  • Addressed potential stability issues that could occur during Penalty Shootouts.
