JAGUAR FALLS – VISUAL UPDATE

Developer Commentary:

The underlying design and architecture are basically the same as the original but the materials, rocks and vegetation are much improved. We’ve added metallic gold through the map to add a feeling of opulence and ancient wealth. We’ve also added a new Jaguar statue to the map at the head of the waterfall along the back wall of the map. It’s large, imposing and should serve as a landmark from quite a distance. All the water and waterfalls in the map have also been updated to use the textures and material treatments used for water in Bazaar and beyond. This includes an updated waterfall material created for this map by our VFX lead. As for lighting, we’ve tried to make the tree canopy atop the buildings much denser, which has resulted in deeper shadows throughout Jaguar Falls, giving the map a more tropical, jungle-like feel. Torchlights and dappled sunlight have been added or enhanced to keep the level readable for gameplay while retaining the moody atmosphere. We hope you enjoy this updated take on one of our classic maps!

LIMITED TIME MODES

Play Paladins in new and exciting ways with a variety of Limited Time Modes (LTMs)! The Shadows patch will feature 8 unique modes that rotate throughout the patch cycle. Each week there will be two limited time modes available, one on Tuesday & Wednesday, and another on Saturday & Sunday. Here’s a quick preview on what to expect:

Hide & Seek

  • Who shot first? Everyone plays this Team Deathmatch as Strix with unlimited Stealth charge, increased damage & movement speed, and reduced cooldown.

Knockaround

  • Try and stay grounded as Ash or Bomb King on Throne. Normal abilities and inhands deal reduced damage, but cooldowns are reduced and knockbacks have 50% increased effectiveness.

Developer Commentary: This is the first in a multi-step plan over the next year for players to engage with Paladins in new ways. For now, we’ve created resources that allow us to continue creating unique LTMs for our players without a large amount of developer overhead, and in the future we will be exploring the following:

  • Continued development of LTM resources (expect more than these initial 8!).
  • Updating our Custom Game modes and exposing some of these features to players. We want to create a toolbox so you all can create your own custom games with friends, blending custom game modifiers and in-house rules.
  • Larger investment LTMs that significantly change how you engage with Paladins (i.e. Dragon’s Call).
  • Investigating* old game modes such as Dragon’s Call and Payload as LTMs.

Developer Commentary: I would like to set some clear expectations with you all – we cannot promise a return of these modes at this time, there are only plans to investigate the work required to bring them back. We are aware that many players have fond memories of Payload, but it only accounted for a small percentage of matches when it was removed years ago. We want to make sure we are spending our resources on the best things for Paladins as a whole, so If an excessive amount of work is required, we may choose to focus those resources on other items in this list.

RANKED UPDATES

Developer Commentary: We are pushing back the next Ranked Split to the following patch. This will be a large mid-season balance update that will see Talent reworks, ability & card balance, and Item Store changes.

Matchmaking Updates (AOC)

Normal Wait 240s ➡️ 480s

  • This is the time the matchmaker takes to try and find an ideal match for players. It looks for players of similar ranks, and tries to find a balanced match between player MMRs.

Overtime: 90s ➡️ 300s

  • After the normal wait time, the matchmaker extends its boundaries to allow players of a wider skill gap into a match. This helps ensure players at multiple standard deviations away from the top of the bell curve can still get matches depending on their server and time of day.

Developer Commentary: We believe these updates to Ranked queue times should reduce the number of unbalanced matches players run into, especially at higher ranks. On average, all players will be in the ranked queue for longer periods of time, with higher ranks likely seeing the largest increase.

Ranked Map Rotation (AOC)

We are making some updates to the Ranked map rotation. Previously, we had 10 Active maps in rotation with 4 reserved maps. Moving forward, there will be 12 Active Maps in rotation with 2 reserved.

Active Maps

  • Splitstone Quarry
  • Stone Keep
  • Jaguar Falls
  • Warder’s Gate
  • Frozen Guard
  • Ascension Peak
  • Timber Mill
  • Serpent Beach
  • +Brightmarsh
  • +Bazaar
  • +Fish Market
  • +Shattered Desert

Reserved Maps

  • -Ice Mines
  • -Frog Isle

BALANCE

Champions

Androxus

  • Quick Draw (AOC)
    • Increase your maximum Ammo by {1|1}.
    • NEW: Hitting a player with Revolver Heals you for {scale=15|15}.

Furia

  • Talents
    • Exterminate
      • Reduced additional Damage 100% ➡️ 75%

Grohk

  • Abilities
    • Healing Totem
      • Cooldowns now occur simultaneously

Developer Note: Previously, Grohk could use both charges of Healing Totem one right after the other, but only one charge’s Cooldown would be ticking down at a time, with the second Cooldown waiting to start until the first finishes. Now, each charge of Healing Totem will start its Cooldown immediately on use, rather than waiting for the previous one to finish.

Previously:
0:00 – Grohk uses a Healing Totem charge
0:02 – Grohk uses a second Healing Totem charge
0:10 – Grohk Gets his first Healing Totem charge back
0:20 – Grohk Gets his second Healing Totem charge back

Now:
0:00 – Grohk uses a Healing Totem charge
0:02 – Grohk uses a second Healing Totem charge
0:10 – Grohk gets his first Healing Totem charge back
0:12 – Grohk gets his second Healing Totem charge back

Grover

  • Abilities
    • Whirlwind
      • Activating Whirlwind will now expend 20% ultimate charge instantly, and then drain the remaining over its duration. Players will retain any remaining ultimate charge if they die, or cancel the ability before it finishes.
      • 100% Ultimate charge is still required for activation.
  • Talents
    • Deep Roots (AOC)
      • Reduced maximum bounces 5 ➡️ 3

Kinessa

  • Cards
    • True Grit (AOC)
      • Hitting an enemy with a fully-charged Sniper Mode shot Heals you for {100|100} ➡️ {50|50}.

Lex

  • Cards
    • The Hunted (AOC)
      • You gain {10|10}% ➡️ {5|5}% Lifesteal against your Retribution target.

Octavia

  • Marksman Rifle
    • Using Designated Sights
      • Reduced Damage 500 ➡️ 425
      • Reduced bullet spread and recoil
      • Reduced damage falloff at extended ranges
  • Hipfire
    • Increased Damage 200 ➡️ 250
    • Increased Accuracy 89%➡️ 94%
    • Increased damage falloff

Tiberius

  • Abilities
    • Heavy Blade (AOC)
      • Reduced Slow 50% ➡️ 30%
      • Reduced Slow duration 3s ➡️ 2s

Zhin

  • Talents
    • Guillotine
      • Reduced Damage 25% ➡️ 20%
      • Removed Ultimate charge rate increase.

mceclip1.png

Taking down these dangerous foes will immediately change the way you play the game. Beat them down and they’ll drop one of two tokens: one which instantly increases the mission’s threat level and another which adds a rules modifier to your current mission. Survive the mission with tokens in tow and you’ll earn the Raid Captain’s Bounty, a special reward at the end of the mission. Seek out these Raid Captains and add a new level of challenge to your missions (and more importantly, reap the rewards)!

Anniversary Event (May 26 – June 8)

mceclip2.png

We’re celebrating the first anniversary of the Minecraft Dungeons launch with a special Anniversary Event! Join in-game from May 26 to June 8. Complete the seasonal trials to collect special rewards, including a new melee weapon, ranged weapon, armor, and even a cape.

Two seasonal trials will appear each day on the Mission Select screen. Completion of a trial will grant one of the limited pieces of gear, so you’ll have to play multiple days to collect them all. Complete seven (7) of these trials during the event to unlock a cape for use in Minecraft Dungeons!

The seasonal trials and rewards will only be available until June 8 and cannot be earned after the event has ended so jump in and celebrate on May 26!

Hunt Showdown Update 1.27 May 26 Fires Out for Update 1.5.2

The Hunt Showdown update 1.27 May 26 patch is now live, and this is what Crytek also calls patch 1.5.2! There’s a round of fixes, gameplay adjustments, and more. Check out the complete patch notes below.

Hunt Showdown Update 1.27 May 26 (1.5.2) Patch Notes:

Audio

  • Hunters will now make noise when damaged by poison effects such as clouds (poison bolts etc) and the Hive swarms.

AI

  • “Doctor Grunts” will now drop unusable medkits if they are damaged by explosives or fire. This is to bring it more in line with Scrapbeak (explosive custom ammo has been excluded and will not cause this effect).
  • The weapons held by Scrapbeak now have the correct sounds and damage types applied.

Gunplay

Bolt action logic

  • We have made some changes to the reload logic tied to some of our Bolt-action Weapons. Weapons like the Lebel and Mosin would usually lose a bullet when reloading (if you do not have the Bulletgrubber trait). Now, you will no longer lose the bullet if you reload right before the bolt has been cycled. This means that that you will be able to reload without losing this extra bullet if you do not have Bulletgrubber, as long as the reload is performed immediately after a shot has been taken.

Hunter control scheme improvements

  • We have made some slight changes to the “Hunter” control scheme in the hope to improve the overall smoothness of the setup. These improvements will help to reduce the chances of performing unwanted melee attacks when you intend to shoot. As long as the aim button is held, your hunter will not attempt to perform a melee attack.

Weapon Balance

  • Crown & King Auto-5 balance pass:
    • Increased sway when aiming down sights.
    • Slightly reduced rate of fire (but not too much to reduce its semi-auto feel).
  • Flechette Ammo:
    • Can now one-hit-kill (OHK) if enough pellets connect with the head (9m for long/medium barrel shotguns, 8m for small barrel).
    • While this range might feel quite far, in practice this will only really be effective with a precise headshot in close quarters.
  • Dum-Dum ammo (Nitro Express):
    • Increased the OHK range for the “Nitro express” Dum-Dum with upper torso shots (extended kill range of 15m).
    • The same downsides towards AI still apply so this change is aimed at the ammo type for the Nitro to be less flexible and more tailored to Hunting players.
  • Consistency pass to all medium and short barrel shotguns:
    • Adjustments made to make these weapons more reliable and less prone to encounter odd RNG behaviour at longer ranges.
    • Changes do not apply to the Romero Handcannon and Romero Hatchet.
  • Slugs ammo:
    • Slightly reduced the damage dealt to the lower torso from Slug rounds. (originally added in the first test server update but was not added to the patch notes when first posted)

Developer note:
The adjustments made to shotguns (excluding those mentioned above) are aimed at making them more consistent and reliable to use. These changes have also resulted in a slight increase to the effective range, but overall, they should behave more in line with expectations. There will still be a noticeable difference between the small/medium and large barrel shotguns (large barrel remain unchanged with this update), with the large still representing the upper end of shotgun performance, this change just means the smaller cousins will not be left behind in terms of usefulness.

Sparks LLR – Animation update:

  • We have updated the animations of the Sparks LRR family of rifle to be more in line with their real-life counterparts. This change is based on some recent feedback from a weapons expert reaction video created by Gamespot. (Thanks for the tips folks, we really appreciate it!)

Hunter

Anti-camera wiggle:

  • The camera rotation speed can now be limited during a selection if hold interactions such as reviving or looting hunters.
  • This limit effect will only apply if the rotational input is consistently and unrealistically high.
  • Infrequent and quick turns for orientation will NOT have this effect applied (general movement will not be impacted by this change).

Anti-crouch Spam:

  • Hunters will now briefly suffer a movement speed penalty if they crouch too many times in a very short space of time.
  • Spacing the crouches to every other second will not trigger this penalty.

Meta

2nd Wave of Custom Ammo

Added additional Custom Ammo types to the following weapons and weapon families:

  • Caldwell Rival 78 – Penny Shot Custom Ammo.
  • Specter 1882 – Penny Shot Custom Ammo.
  • Caldwell Conversion Uppercut – Added Explosive Custom Ammo.
  • Winfield 1887 Terminus – Slug Custom Ammo.
  • Crown & King Auto-5 – Slug Custom Ammo.
    • When firing slugs, the Auto-5 produces noticeably stronger recoil between shots to balance this out against other weapons and ammo types.
  • Sparks LRR – Added Full Metal Jacket Custom Ammo

Weapons

  • Added Winfield Centennial Sniper variant for $298

Legendary Weapons

  • Added the Legendary Mosin Nagant M1891 “Bears Tooth”
  • This is the winner of the 3 Year Anniversary Weapon Skin Contest
  • Added for 0 Blood Bonds (just claim it in the store!)

Price Changes

  • Increased the price of the Slugs custom ammo to $200 (previously $150)
  • Winfield 1876 Centennial price reduced to $277 (previously $338)

Stats Changes

  • The stats tied to Explosive and Slugs custom ammo have been updated to be more representative of how the weapons work (no changes have been made to the weapons themselves).

UI

  • “Hold” interactions will now display text under the progress circle to indicate which action you are performing:
    • “Healing” while using Health Stations or the First Aid Kit
    • “Healing Teammate” while using the First Aid Kit on a teammate
    • “Reviving Teammate”
    • “Investigating Clue” or “Closing Rift”
    • “Stopping Bleeding” or “Stopping Burning” or both while stopping status effects
    • “Looting Hunter”
    • “Acquiring Trait”
    • “Cleaning Weapon”
  • New “server” notification icons have been added to better communicate issues that may come up – such as server performance issues, packet loss, increased latency etc.
    • For detailed explanations of what each icon means can be found in the game manual.
    • Two new options have been added in the “Performance Stats” settings, one allowing to hide all warnings, and the other to display even more information

  • Improvements made to the HUD visuals for better readability:
    • Ammo count display have moved and realigned with the right side of the health bar.
    • Indicators (crouching, talking, out of breath) icons have been updated and moved to the left side of the health bar.
    • The Dark Sight Boost icon has been repositioned to the left side of the screen, fixing several overlapping issues in the process.
  • The scrollbar visuals in the menus have been updated for better readability.
  • The unnecessary “sell all” button have been removed from the store and the roster screens.
  • A pop-up will appear to notify of automatically claimed rewards of the daily challenges.

Performance & Stability

  • Fixed several occurrences of client and game server crashes.

Hunt Showdown Update 1.27 May 26 Released for Patch 1.5.2

    • “Stopping Bleeding” or “Stopping Burning” or both while stopping status effects

    • “Acquiring Trait”

  • Some inconsistencies may be experienced in terms of sensitivity while using gunslinger mode. Melee and weapon turn speeds are slightly different.
  • Quickplay: Looting a new tool can replace and already existing empty tool, rather than taking up the next available slot.
  • In some cases, Meatheads might be missing leeches and will not react to players.
  • Concertina wire can damage players through walls.
  • In some cases, you may encounter desyncs between the client and server when walking on edges/slopes.
  • Lootable weapons sometimes drop to close to each other making it difficult to loot the correct one.
  • In some cases, it is not possible to charge a melee attack instantly after swapping between weapons/tools.
  • Death from bleeding damage caused by AI can show as killing yourself in the damage history on the death screen.
  • The Crown and King rate of fire stat only changes when slugs are equipped, this is incorrect and the RoF has changed on the weapon overall.
  • Centennial sniper heavy attack can be interrupted with ADS too early which results in the scope taking too long to appear.
  • Performing multiple specific actions at once can result in players unintentionally standing when in a crouched position.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Update 1.27 May 26 Flies Out, Servers Down

Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 update 1.27 May 26 patch, though players shouldn’t expect any major additions. The Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 servers are down currently as well, which we’re assuming is for maintenance.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Update 1.27 May 26 Patch Notes:

For now, it looks like the patch notes (via the PS4 update history) are “adjustments and improvements” to the game, without going into specifics. We’re hoping that later on in the day, we’ll know for sure what the changes are, and will update the post if we spot anything.

As for the servers, Bandai Namco has not commented on how long the outage is out, but given it has coincided with the patch roll out, we’re hoping it won’t be long. We’ll also update the post once servers are up and stable once again.

If you spot any gameplay-related changes, let us know what you find down in the comments.

Earlier this year, Bandai Namco released new DLC for the game.

Sonic The Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Announcements by Sega Coming on May 27

Fans of the way past cool hedgehog Sonic will want to stay tuned for some news in the next few days, as Sonic The Hedgehog 30th Anniversary announcements are being teased by Sega, and it’s all coming on May 27!

As revealed on the official Sonic Twitter page, Sega is prepping up a first look at upcoming projects, partnerships, and events for the series!

As one of the most recognizable video game characters ever made, Sonic The Hedgehog first made his debut in his own eponymous title — which was released for the Sega Genesis in 1991. Sega requested for a character mascot to compete with Nintendo’s own Mario, and the result was a blue hedgehog who could run really fast and dedicated himself to freeing his friends who were turned into robots by the evil scientist Dr. Ivo Robotnik. The game would become a critical and financial success, spawning numerous sequels, spin-offs, and even a live-action theatrical film that was released in early 2020 with Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and Jim Carrey as Robotnik. A sequel to that movie is currently in post-production, and is scheduled for release on April next year.

Speaking of Sonic The Hedgehog 2, check out the set photos featuring the first look at Knuckles here.

Be sure to catch the Sonic The Hedgehog 30th Anniversary announcements soon!

Destiny 2 Update 2.21 May 25 Deployed for Update 3.2.0.2

Update 2.21 is out for Destiny 2, and this is also what Bungie calls update 3.2.0.2 for the game! The Destiny 2 update 2.21 May 25 patch, and this brings a host of fixes to investment, gameplay and more.

Destiny 2 Update 2.21 May 25 (3.2.0.2) Patch Notes:

Gameplay and Investment

Armor

  • Fixed an issue where Recovery-focused Umbral Engrams would sometimes not award armor with a sufficiently high Recovery stat.
  • Fixed issues where some Common, Uncommon, and Rare armors would provide stat bonuses when used as ornaments as a part of Armor Synthesis.
  • Energy Accelerant mod:
    • No longer increases damage against players.
    • No longer increases the base damage of Symmetry, Telesto, Black Talon, and Deathbringer.
      • Telesto has also received another sternly worded lecture.
  • Sundering Blast no longer causes Overload champions to exit their stun state when damaged by the explosion created by the mod.
  • Fixed an issue where Star-Eater Scales was erroneously applying its damage bonus to weapons and grenades instead of only Supers as intended.
    • Increased the maximum number of stacks required for the full damage bonus from four stacks to eight stacks.
  • Fixed an issue where players could spawn too many noble seekers with Boots of the Assembler by stepping in and out of a Rift.
    • When Warlocks wearing Boots of the Assembler are extending the duration of a Rift, class ability regeneration pauses.
    • Design note: The reason for this change was both to prevent game crashes caused by too many rifts being placed in a single activity, and to restore some of the advantage to running Sanguine Alchemy over Boots of the Assembler.

Weapons

  • Fixed an issue where the catalyst for Cryosthesia 77K was incorrectly accruing progress from energy weapon kills.
  • Fixed an issue where the catalyst Triumph for Cryosthesia 77K was being displayed in the wrong weapon category.
  • Fixed an issue where Cryosthesia 77K could fire multiple freeze shots without losing the charged shot buff.
  • Fixed an issue where existing drops of THE SWARM with Unrelenting switched to Bottomless Grief.
    • This fix only works in cases where players didn’t select the Bottomless Grief node.

Accessories

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Vie for Glory Sparrow from taking shaders.

Power and Progression

  • Fixed an issue where the reward for completing the weekly Vendor Challenge on the Splicer Servitor did not reward Pinnacle gear as advertised.
    • Upon completion, the weekly Vendor Challenge should now reward a Pinnacle piece of Seasonal gear.
  • Fixed an issue where completing Presage as a weekly Activity Challenge was not rewarding Pinnacle gear.

UI/UX

  • Fixed an issue where the Armor Synthesis ornament creation tutorial does not show up for Titan characters when reaching the armor ornament creation step.

General

  • Players will no longer be able to claim the 150 Synthstrand from Ada-1 during the NUX quest if their inventory is full.
    • This will prevent players from losing the material and they will need to clear out inventory space to claim their Synthstrand.

Report: Battlefield 2021 Reveal Trailer Teaser Leaks

Following purported Battlefield 2021 screenshots and audio leak from the reveal trailer, it looks like the Battlefield 2021 reveal trailer has leaked — or at least, a teaser or part of it!

In the unofficial Battlefield 6 subreddit, a user by the name of PhantomXMT has posted what appears to be part of the teaser trailer complete with audio! It’s only 11 seconds in length, but you can watch it below.

Battlefield Trailer leak Tease by ENERGY⚡

Same with all rumors, treat this one with a grain of salt. That said, this is the first time we’ve seen it in motion and with audio, too, and I have to admit, it’s exciting! That said, even if this is legit leaked footage, don’t be surprised if EA and DICE have a surprise up their sleeves when they official reveal the game’s official title and reveal trailer, especially given EA’s recent statement about it.

Don’t forget, the official Battlefield 2021 reveal is set for this June, which is just a few days away!

Outriders Update 1.08 May 25 Fires Out for Damage Mitigation Issues

People Can Fly has released the Outriders update 1.08 May 25 patch, which is the latest major update to the game. As one might expect, there are loads of fixes, and most of all, touches on the damage mitigation issues that has been troubling players for quite some time now.

Outriders Update 1.08 May 25 Patch Notes:

  • Fixed a bug that was causing armour values to not be calculated properly under certain circumstances, leading players to take unintended increased damage.
  • Changed the damage behaviour of Brood Mother enemies to prevent them from one-hit killing players in under certain circumstances.
  • Addressed an issue that could cause players to be unable to sign-in under certain circumstances.
  • Added telemetry to better track and diagnose any outstanding sign-in issues.
  • Fixes for crashes.
  • Other minor bug fixes.

Important note: There is a known outstanding issue where the “Damage Blocked” stat on an Expeditions results screen can occasionally appear inconsistently or abnormally low. This appears to be a purely cosmetic issue with the results summary screen, NOT an issue with damage mitigation overall or during gameplay.

I’m also planning to kick off an updated known/investigated issues thread later this week, so please do keep an eye out for that.

In the meantime, please do use this thread to report any outstanding issues that you (continue to) encounter in the game after installing today’s patch (Tuesday, May 25). I will make sure to include consistent issues affecting multiple players in my follow-up news update this week.

In particular, I would be keen to hear whether you (continue to) encounter any mods, skills or gear items consistently not working as intended. If you are able to provide details and reproduction steps for these things not working properly, it would greatly help us investigate them.
