Own a PS5 Disc Version? You May Want to Install Offline for Faster Installation (Error CE-107863-5)

If you own a PS5 that takes physical discs, you may want to know that being connected online may slow down installation, as the system adds any updates to the initial install. This may resolve those having the CE-107863-5 error.

As pointed out by Lance McDonald, when connected to the PSN network while installing a PS5 disc version, the console is told (if a dev opts in) to install whatever the latest patch is in the initial install. Unlike the PS4 where this was considered a separate download, the PS5 instead packages it as a single file. Meaning if you were to decide to disconnect from the network, have a sudden outage, or just have poor internet you may encounter error code CE-107863-5, which is a error related to connectivity. What this means is that you won’t be able to install.

The solution to fixing this error code is to simple go offline, delete the current installation and start again. What’s more, however, s that because the console decides to package any update with the original installation, a game install may take longer than expected as tested out by Lance.

DMC install locally

DMC5 Installed While Online

It’s only a slightly larger file size in this case, though other titles have significantly larger updates. This may explain some of the ongoing installation issues that users have been reporting over on the PS5 sub Reddit.

Note that Lance did test this with other titles, such as Demon’s Souls and this appears to be an optional feature that developers can opt in to foe day one updates. In the case of Demon’s Souls the patch was separate from the initial install.

Hopefully Sony changes the way installation and PS5 patches get applied while online to help avoid any unwanted issues. It may be optional for developers to do, but the potential issues accompanied with it may not be worth it.

The Division 2 TU12 Balancing Discussed, No New PvP Content in TU12

In this week’s The Division 2 State of the Game devstream, Ubisoft Massive talks about the Title Update 12 (TU12) PTS (Public Test Server) phase 1, and are already looking ahead to phase 2. The studio discusses The Division 2 TU12 balancing changes for some weapons, and changes coming to the Optimization Station.

The Division 2 TU12 Balancing & Optimization Station Changes:

Optimization Station

Cost too high / Resource Confusion

  • There was feedback that the cost to optimize the gear is too high
  • But they also noticed that there was confusion about how to obtain the Optimization Resources
  • The confusion was also based on the fact that the UI did not list all the sources or some sources were simply not present on the PTS.

Sources:

These are all the sources where you get Optimization Resources:

  • You can get the Optimization Resources from the listed primary sources:
    • Assault Rifle Alloys (and others)
      • deconstructing gear and weapons
    • Field Recon Data
      • Control Points in the LZ, Landmarks in the DZ, and the higher floors of The Summit
    • True Sons Tactical Assessment (and other faction materials)
      • defeating bosses of the various factions
    • SHD Calibration
      • completing Daily and Weekly projects (PvE and PvP). Weekly Projects will give substantially more materials than Daily Projects)
  • Summit Caches from completing Summit Challenges
    • always contain a small number of SHD Calibration and Field Recon Data.
  • Optimization Caches from Season Event and Rewards Track rewards
    • always contain a moderate amount of SHD Calibration and Field Research Data.
  • All Materials may be crafted from blueprints found in certain projects as well as high-threat control points.

No Changes to the Costs

  • They believe that the current optimization costs with all these various sources are in a good place.
  • They will continue to monitor the situation
  • So check out Phase 2 of the PTS and see how things are with this information in mind.
  • Season Rewards will still be inactive on PTS Phase 2.
  • Blueprints to craft the Optimization Resources will be available from the vendors on PTS Phase 2.

Balancing Changes

Bighorn

  • In phase 1 the magazine size was increased to 40.
  • With Phase 2 you can delay the decay of the stacks by doing headshots and basically maintain the 10 Stack damage buff.
  • This does not work with the Focus Talent.

PDR & Test Subject & Capacitor

  • The base weapon damage could not keep up with similar weapons
  • That is why it was increased to keep up with the other weapons with similar stats

Capacitor

  • Damage buff from the PDR also applies here
  • Magazine size has been increased (11 more bullets)
  • The Crit Hit damage is still around, it was moved to the muzzle
  • Stacks are now capped at 40, but you get 1.5% Skill damage per stack (max 60% Skill Damage Buff)
  • You now get 7.5% (from 5%) Weapon Damage buff from the Skill Tiers.

Scorpio

Talents:

Talents PVP:

  • The weapon is popular, but on legendary it trivialized encounters with the Rogue Agents.
  • But to still keep it a fun to use weapon, they kept the stats but the duration of the Status Effects is based on the percentage of pellets that hit the target.
  • So to get the full debuff, you have to hit with all 8 pellets.
  • In PVP the number of hits that you need to apply the status effects was increased by 1. This should make applying bleed a bit more difficult. Otherwise, it works the same as PVE in terms of pellets hit.

Other Changes / Fixes

Loadout Increase

Gear:

Apparel:

With TU12 the inventory will be increased to 150 and you will also have 16 Loadout slots for gear and apparel.

Achilles Pulse

There was an issue, that the Achilles Pulse cooldown did not properly scale with mods. That was fixed.

Shrapnel Trap

The explosive damage will be adjusted in PVP to get it more in line with the other explosive skills. (lower damage)

Empress International Named Items

With PTS Phase 2 the Empress International Named items have the correct Utility Core Attributes.

Summit Challenges

Were adjusted so that they have a faster completion time.

There will be more changes for phase 2 and for launch.

No PVP Content

  • TU12 focuses on quality of life features that the community brought up.
  • PVP has balancing changes but there will be no new PVP content with TU12.

Playerss can expect TU12 to be released in early December (or at least it’s planned to be released at that time frame by devs).

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Review – Our Spider-Man

In 2018, Insomniac Games struck gold when the developer created Marvel’s Spider-Man (read our review of it here). By now, everyone should know the gist behind the webhead: gets bitten by a spider, “great power comes great responsibility”, a wide range of villains, and of course, a slightly deranged journalist that tries to discredit him. After Peter Parker saves the day, it’s revealed that another person has been bit by a radioactive spider. Someone who will also take up the mantle of Spider-Man: a young Afro-Latino teenager from Brooklyn named Miles Morales.

New Kid on the Block

The game kicks off shortly after the events of its 2018 predecessor. Peter has taken Miles under his web to show him what it takes to be Spider-Man. After what should’ve been a normal prisoner transport erupts into a wide destruction brouhaha with Rhino, Peter tells Miles him and Mary Jane are going out of town for a few weeks. Patrolling the streets of New York on his own in Peter’s absence, Miles is constantly reminded that he is the “other” Spider-Man. Learning to discover more about who Miles is as a person and how it morphs him into the Spider-Man he wants to be is a recurring theme throughout.

Much of the same button layout and mechanics of the first game return in this mini sequel. Miles has four different gadgets to select from: classic web-shooters, holo-drone, remote mine, and gravity well. The holo-drones come in handy fighting in large groups of people, because the holo-drones can disperse the crowd a bit and might also take down one or two baddies along the way. If you’ve played Watch Dogs: Legion, the remote mines are very similar to arming traps for enemies to walk into and get electrocuted. The main difference is Miles has full control over when the mine activates. I never used the gravity well during my 8-9 hour playthrough, mainly because I was saving Activity Tokens to purchase new suits, but the gravity well also seems most effective in large crowds, pulling enemies together and knocking them down.

There are three distinct skill trees: combat, venom, and camouflage. No, we aren’t talking about the evil guy in the black suit known as Venom. Miles possesses two more powers that Peter doesn’t: invisibility and bioelectricity, otherwise known as venom. As Miles lands normal attacks and performs perfect dodges, a series of bars with a lightning bolt will begin to fill up beneath your health bar. Once the bar is filled, Miles can perform a series of electric-based attacks for increased damage and more intense finisher moves. There are also certain obstacles in missions that require Miles to use his venom power, like to disable a generator. Wonder how Pete would’ve solved that one?

Now for the fun part: the suits. I’m pleased to say that the options for young Miles does not disappoint. Whether you want to reenact “What’s Up, Danger?” from Into the Spider-Verse or swing around New York with a cat in your backpack there’s plenty of unique and stylish Spidey suits. Photo Mode was my best friend after unlocking a new suit. The sphere light was a great tool to use to brighten up the area to make Spider-Man pop a bit more. There’s also plenty of filters and frames to experiment with to take your photo to the next level.

Representation Matters

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is graphically amazing (looks spectacular on the PS5) and load times are non-existent (took roughly two full seconds to fast travel). While Insomniac should be applauded for these achievements and for telling a great story, it’s important to acknowledge the incredible amount of representation in the game. Predominately, superheroes have been white. Sure there are heroes like Black Panther and Falcon, but the overwhelming percentage of superheroes points to one type of demographic. Slowly, we’ve seen more and more people of color (POC) heroes break the mold, and I’m extremely happy to say that Insomniac absolutely nailed it with Miles.

With Miles being of both African and Puerto Rican descent, Insomniac did an amazing job in showing how important his heritage is to him. From the get-go, we see Miles speaking fluidly in both English and Spanish, and not only to his mother, Rio, but others who reside in his new home of Harlem. We get a glimpse of Miles performing a little Bachata with an elderly woman. Later in the story you learn that Uncle Aaron and Miles’s late father, Jefferson, were in the middle of creating their own mixtape, prompting the young teen to start recording sounds himself. Miles finds a Spider-Man suit at the foot of a Black Lives Matter mural. And in one mission, Miles is tasked with helping a young deaf woman named Hailey Cooper and they communicate through ASL.

Some may scoff at the idea of praising Insomniac for doing something so “simple” or “obvious” with these forms of representation. If that truly was the case, why don’t we see more of it? Insomniac could’ve easily had Miles only speak Spanish with his mother for a couple scenes at the beginning to establish the fact that he can speak the language. Instead, the conversations with Miles and Rio using both English and Spanish so smoothly helped make the experience feel real. Insomniac made it a point to show how his Puerto Rican heritage helps define who he is as a character.  With racial discrimination and hostility happening across America, Insomniac reminded everyone that Black Lives Matter. As a Black man myself, seeing a BLM mural like this is so amazing and I can’t express my gratitude to Insomniac for knowing how important this is — especially in a game with Miles Morales as the lead character. They know what’s right and aren’t afraid to show it. They introduced Hailey as a very talented street artist, but who had a hearing impairment. There’s no real reason why she’d have this impairment, other than to show representation to those who do have it. These decisions go beyond building a virtual world, these decisions are made because we don’t see this level of representation anywhere. Insomniac’s message is crystal clear: no matter what color you are, what language you speak, or what disability you may have, you’re someone special and deserve to be seen.

Peter Park may be the original Spider-Man, someone that many will always think of when they hear the webslinger’s name. And while Peter strives to protect all of New York, he doesn’t truly represent everyone. He isn’t someone we can truly look up to and envision us behind the mask. Miles Morales is different. Miles is a Spider-Man who represents countless individuals who feel overlooked, unheard, and disrespected. A Spider-Man that understands the struggles that others might not. A Spider-Man I can look at and say, “we aren’t so different.”

Miles Morales is our Spider-Man.

Score: 9.5/10

Pros:

  • Representation
  • Graphically stunning
  • New abilities/powers to change up combat
  • Solid story, despite the short length
  • Photo mode
  • Spider-Man the cat

Cons:

  • Too short, need more Miles

Played on PS5. You can read SP1st and MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

Cyberpunk 2077 OST Makes Its Way to Spotify

For fans itching to get more teases for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming new futuristic game Cyberpunk 2077, the Cyberpunk 2077 OST (original soundtrack) has made its way to Spotify and gives us an idea of the sounds and music that will be featured in the action role-playing game.

Here’s the playlist and tracks featured on Spotify.com.

You can also check out the behind the scenes look at the score and soundtrack in the official video below.

Composed by Polish sound designer Marcin Przybylowicz — who was also the music director and lead composer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the sound and score for Cyberpunk 2077 is in good hands as it evokes the same kind of production values a game of its caliber needs. Now diving into cyber infused, futuristic metal sounds, this is going to be one of those soundtracks that fans of the experience will want to play in their mobile devices and computers to prepare themselves for the game to come. The titles of the available tracks also give a hint as to what area and settings of the games these tracks will play. Here’s hoping we’ll see the rest of the score soon once the game is out and more media is released!

Be sure to check out our other features about Cyberpunk 2077 here.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on December 10.

PS5 Pre-Orders in the Philippines Will Only Be Live for 5 Minutes

With the PS5 already out in some parts of the world, there are still a large amount of countries where Sony’s next-gen machine isn’t available yet. In Southeast Asia (or at least select countries in Southeast Asia), the PS5 will be available on December 11. If you thought snagging one was tough, it’s way tougher getting a PS5 pre-order in the Philippines!

According to various retailers, pre-orders for the country will be live for just five minutes! Yes, you read that right — FIVE minutes! This is online-only, and based on the wording, would-be buyers will need to plunk down the full amount for the pre-order, even!

Check out the announcement from some of the country’s retailers who will have PS5 units to sell come December 11:

As you can see from the announcements. it will strictly be one unit per person/account, and you’ll need to settle the full amount within the day (or within the hour depending on the store). Needless to say, I expect some servers to meltdown during this time. Chances are, these stores aren’t getting a lot of units, so the five-minute window is all they need to burn through their upcoming allocation (just conjencture on my part).

If you’re from the Philippines and manage to snag a pre-order, let us know how it went!

Overwatch Update 3.01 November 19 Fires Out for Hero Changes

While Blizzard released a new Overwatch patch earlier this week for a new event focusing on Symmetra and a few hero changes, the studio has released the Overwatch update 3.01 November 19 patch, and this one includes even more hero changes!

Overwatch Update 3.01 November 19 Patch Notes:

GENERAL UPDATES

General
  • Support heroes no longer say “Group up with me” when they are missing health and request healing

HERO UPDATES

ANA

A significant number of Biotic Grenades are blocked by allies accidentally intercepting it. Having it collide with allies in the same manner as Ana’s primary fire will enable more deliberate placement of the ability.

Biotic Grenade
  • Projectile now passes through allies with full health

BRIGITTE

Brigitte was a likely candidate when looking at close range heroes to receive a health adjustment while experimenting with 25 HP increments. This ended up being too powerful when combined with her self-healing and barrier.

  • Base health reduced from 175 to 150

HANZO
Storm Arrows
  • Can now be manually canceled

MEI
Ice Wall
  • Can now be manually destroyed while dead

MOIRA

Moira could use a small bump in healing efficiency after recent changes made maintaining her high healing output more challenging.

Biotic Grasp
  • Healing resource consumption rate lowered from 14 to 12.5

SYMMETRA
Teleporter
  • Can now be manually destroyed while dead

TORBJÖRN
Deploy Turret
  • Turret can now be manually destroyed while dead

Why wasn’t this update lumped in with the other one? Your guess is as good as mine. That said, not really complaining the devs for being active on hero fixes.

  • Added scrambles to tower takedowns.

      • Added Lead Overhand Level 2
    • Evan Dunham
      • Clinch issue fixed. All Moves Updated
    • Edman Shahbazyan
      • Added Back Front Kick Level 2
  • Fixed inconsistency with major back lunge, depending on which stick was used to perform it.
  • Allowed blocking during minor back lunges.
  • Fixed a bad grappling exchange from mount.
  • Improved side slips by applying loss of opponent’s tracking when walking and slipping to the same side, to the outside of strikes (except jabs).
    • Side slips when walking to the same side will now behave similar to major side lunges, in that they will now make the opponent completely lose track of you and force them to pivot before they can strike you again. However, as the motion required to perform a walking side slip is smaller, we’ve made the conditions for the loss of tracking more strict.

This is a huge update, so let’s hope nothing gets broken in the process.

Marvel’s Avengers Kate Bishop Taking Aim DLC Release Date Set for Dec. 8

As promised yesterday, today’s Marvel’s Avengers War Table focuses on Kate Bishop’s introduction into Crystal Dynamics’ game, and along with the info, we now have a new Marvel’s Avengers Kate Bishop Taking Aim DLC release date and it’s on December 8!

Check out the nine-minute deep dive video below, where we see Kate Bishop’s abilities and moves in debut gameplay footage!

The lead-up to Taking AIM began with enigmatic new Tachyon missions that started appearing on players’ in-game War Tables several weeks ago. In Taking AIM, Kate Bishop, master archer and skilled gymnast, resurfaces after her investigation of Nick Fury’s disappearance following A-Day leads to her mentor Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) going missing as well. As she unravels the mystery behind the sudden appearance of the time-warping Tachyon Rifts, she uncovers a twisted new plan from AIM, which pushes her to work with the Avengers once again.

Taking AIM’s story begins shortly after the conclusion of Marvel’s Avengers’ Reassemble campaign and is just the first half of the two Hawkeyes’ Story Arc. Clint Barton’s Hawkeye will then take the stage in early 2021 to complete the double-feature and lay the groundwork for what’s next in the Avengers Initiative.

There’s also a new super villain introduced in the free DLC and it’s the Super Adaptoid! Once the update for Kate is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

There Is a Hidden PS5 Web Browser and Here’s How to Access It

Do you surf the web on your PS4? For those that do, unfortunately you can’t really do that on the PS5, as it doesn’t have a built-in web browser. However, there is a PS5 web browser workaround that lets you visit websites on the console, though it’s limited in function.

On the PS5 subreddit, user D_Ashido has posted how to have a functioning PS5 web browser!

My friends and I were discussing how the PS5 has settings for a Web Browser, but no actual dedicated Web Browser App. You can enable and disable cookies and other misc. options from the full settings menu.

We quickly discovered the web browser is accessible! All you have to do is have a friend send you a PS message to a search engine such as “WWW.Google.com”. From your PS5, click on the google link and it will open up a browser window that has a locked address bar. If you can access your particular website from Google search, you can go to it with this method.

Furthermore, you can even pin this make-shift browser to the side of your screen similar to the new Share Screen ability. If you pin it, pressing the quick menu will force the browser to appear as an activity card that you can click to gain edit access to it again. The options button will give you access to a variety of browser controls such as Refresh, Forward, Backward, Zoom, etc.

HTML5 works in this browser currently as Youtube videos and other video sites were working flawlessly.

For anyone that needed quick access to walkthrough sites while gaming; enjoy! There is currently no “Favorites”, or bookmarks support. I’m sure Sony is working on a complete browser experience, but if they aren’t then at least we have this for now.

Those in certain parts of the globe, the PS5 is now available in your region! If you’re one of the new PS5 owners, make sure to share this post so other people who want to browse on their PS5, can do so.

Neverwinter Update 8.41 November 19 Released for Consoles

Developer Cryptic Studios has released the Neverwinter update 8.41 November 19 patch and this is just for the console version of the game. There’s a short list of fixes released by the studio which you can check out below, as well as some of the known issues acknowledged by the devs.

Neverwinter Update 8.41 November 19 Patch Notes:

Release Notes

Content and Environment

Acquisitions Incorporated

  • Reptilian Extraction: The map no longer closes down, disconnecting all players on it, when a player completes the “Escape!” step of this instanced quest.

Avernus

  • Players can no longer get onto a mount when nearby their Infernal Machine.

Items and Economy

Companions

  • Soradiel is no longer incorrectly referred to as “Zariel” in some parts of the companion UI.

Reward Claims Agent

  • When purchasing things through supported external stores, the game now more consistently acknowledges the purchase without having to log out and back in.

Known Issues

  • Dungeon Rewards: Insignias earned from dungeon reward chests are currently incorrectly unbound. In a future patch, they’ll be changed so that they bind when gained from the dungeon reward chest. It is okay for players to trade them, auction them, etc. in the meantime.
  • Localization: In a recent patch, the names of various locations on the Overworld Map were incorrectly shuffled around. We are working to resolve this issue.
  • Redeemed Citadel: The Redeemed Citadel Forge cannot upgrade armor with armor kits applied.
  • Zen Market: The Celestial Wings mount cannot be reclaimed for free once purchased. We plan to address this in a future patch.

We’ll report on the game’s latest content drop once we know more.

Warframe Update 1.93 November 19 Deployed as Hotfix #3

While Digital Extremes released a new Warframe patch earlier this week, the studio has rolled out the Warframe update 1.93 November 19 patch today. Note that for EU, this will show up as Warframe update 1.92. This is called the Heart of Deimos: Nezha Prime: Hotfix #3, which is detailed below.

Warframe Update 1.93 November 19 Patch Notes:

This hotfix will be downloaded as an update, as the fixes in it were required to go through Cert before being released. At this time, these fixes are only being launched on the PS4 today. While you can play the PS4 version of Warframe on your PS5, these fixes will not be live on the PS5 until after the PS5 version launches. This is due to the ongoing Cert progress for the PS5 version of Warframe – more information to come on that at a later date when we have more to share – stay tuned! In the meantime, read more on what to expect here: https://www.warframe.com/news/warframe-is-coming-to-next-gen

Fixes:

That’s it for this title update. As far as we’re aware, this is not out on the Xbox One, but just on the PS4 version of the game.

No official title yet, the teaser just shows us the IO Interactive logo and then we transition to the inside of a gun until we hear the familiar James Bond theme song and intro!

IO Interactive tags this as their next game, which means that we’ll be getting a new title from the studio after Hitman 3 makes its way out next year!

For now, there is a new website for the untitled project, with the landing page also acting as a recruitment page.

It’s Bond, James Bond.

Project 007 (working title) is a brand new James Bond video game be developed and published by IO Interactive.

Featuring a wholly original Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story.
