Gears 5 Release Date Set for Fall 2019

We’ve already posted about the purported Gears 5 release date before, but now we have confirmation that it is indeed coming this fall.

Over on Twitter, The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson tweeted an ad for Gears 5 at E3, and it confirmed the Gears 5 release date for fall!

Just last month, a leak claimed that the Gears 5 release date was set for September 10, which is part of the fall season, so that could still be true.

Perhaps we’ll finally hear the official release date for Gears 5 at Microsoft’s E3 press conference set for this weekend, on June 9.

Report: From Software George RR Martin Collaboration Called “Elden Ring,” and Here’s Our First Details

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that From Software (Dark Souls) is actively working on a game with Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin. Just days before E3, it seems this announcement has leaked, and it will be called “Elden Ring.”

Leaked by reliable industry insider Daniel Ahmad, the From Software George RR Martin game will hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

ELDEN RING, developed by FromSoftware, Inc. and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG adventure set within a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki – creator of the influential DARK SOULS video game series; and George R.R. Martin – author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire. Danger and discovery lurk around every corner in FromSoftware’s largest game to-date. Hidetaka Miyazaki, President and Game Director of FromSoftware Inc. known for directing critically-acclaimed games in beloved franchises including Armored Core, Dark Souls, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. George R.R. Martin is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of many novels, including the acclaimed series A Song of Ice and Fire – A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast For Crows, and A Dance with Dragons. As a writer-producer, he has worked on The Twilight Zone, Beauty and the Beast, and various feature films and pilots that were never made.

Of course, this isn’t 100 percent verified, so there is a chance that title of this could be wrong, but given Ahmad’s reliability, and the fact that there’s even an image, the chances of this being legit is very, very high. Those doubting this, we don’t need to wait long, as we’re assuming this will be announced during Microsoft’s Xbox E3 presser which takes place on June 9, at 4 p.m. ET.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Fall 2019 Roadmap Revealed, Here’s What to Expect From June to Fall

Those fighting off the evil Sith and Empire in Star Wars Battlefront 2 but want to know what’s coming down the line, we got you covered. Today, DICE has revealed the Star Wars Battlefront 2 fall 2019 roadmap, and there’s a lot of stuff planned.

While EA has the entire thing on their site, Reddit user IAmbob224 compiled the text in one handy list that’s way easier to read.

Here’s the full Star Wars Battlefront 2 fall 2019 roadmap:

June:

  • Capital Supremacy: Naboo
    • The conflict has spread to the streets of Theed, as this month we’re bringing Capital Supremacy to Naboo. The capital city of Theed is one of the most iconic locations within the Clone Wars and we’re excited to be bringing Capital Supremacy to this fan-favourite map.
    • When you deploy onto Naboo, you will notice that it’s set at dusk. The embered sky adds a greater layer of atmosphere to the city. Alongside the dusk setting, you’ll notice that the city streets are showing signs of previously fought battle and skirmishes; romantic ambience meets war-torn streets.
    • The entirety of the battle takes place within the city streets itself, making Naboo a great location for those wanting to experience urban conflict from within the Star Wars universe.
  • Droidekas
    • Primary Weapon: Twin Blaster Cannons
      • Short-range heavy weapons that deal significant damage to those unfortunate enough to find themselves caught in their crossfire. The Droideka can maintain full control of the blasters regardless of whether they’re stationary or they are advancing upon their target. Don’t let them get near!
    • Ability 1: Wheel Form
      • The Droideka folds its cannons and legs into its chassis and becomes able to traverse the battlefront at breakneck speeds. The Wheel Form can be activated both with the ability button and by pressing the sprint button, which also further increases its movement speed while in Wheel Form. Additionally, the Droideka can exit ball mode either by pressing the ability button, activating the Energy Shield button, or by holding down fire.
    • Ability 2: Overload
      • Sharing ability with its fellow Enforcers, the droideka can overload its primary blasters. The cannons are instantly cooled and for a period of time the droideka can fire its blaster cannons with increased rate of fire.
    • Ability 3: Energy Shield
      • The shield acts as a secondary health pool for the droideka, that is the first combatant that can shoot out from it. The shield goes into cooldown if it’s destroyed, or it’s manually toggled off.
      • Deploying the Energy Shield while in Wheel Form will automatically trigger the transformation into Destroyer mode before the shield activates, and vice versa the shield automatically toggles off when going into Wheel Form.
      • Rolling onto the battlefront this month on June 26th, we will have the answer to the question you’ve all been asking: “Where are those Droidekas?”
  • TX-130 Tank
    • Primary Weapon: Laser Cannons
      • A pair of heavy laser cannons sit upon the TX-130 and act as its primary weapon system. Despite having a fixed firing line, the versatile nature of the tank means that it can quickly manouver to ensure enemies are within its line of sight.
    • Ability 1: Laser Barrage
      • The Laser Barrage ability on the TX-130 fires a short laser cannon barrage of continuous blaster fire. During this time the TX-130 will fire automatically for a short period of time.
      • This ability is the perfect counter for when you encounter multiple small and fast moving targets, such as enemy droids or speeders.
      • Once the automatic firing sequence is complete, Laser Barrage will go into a recharge state until it’s ready to be fired again.
    • Ability 2: Rockets
      • Rockets fire in an alternate fashion from pods on each side of the TX-130. The rockets are “dumb fired,” meaning they do not lock-on to enemies ad fire in the direction you aim them, like the ATT’s. When firing rockets you have the ability to fire them one at a time, or you can charge them up. When charged (by holding the fire button) the TX-130 will unleash all of the rockets in quick momentum.
    • Ability 3: Charge Mode
      • Activating this ability will toggle the primary fire into Charge Mode. While in Charge mode the TX-130 will gain the ability to charge up a massive charged bolt that fires simultaneously from both the left and right turrets, at the expense of some maneuverability. Charge Mode is the perfect ability to use when facing a slow moving target.
      • Charge Mode has a duration of 20 seconds but can be canceled sooner if desired.
  • Anakin Skywalker: General Skin
    • This iconic look comes out of the crucible of The Clone Wars animated series from Anakin’s many fights throughout the galaxy. During the height of the conflicts between the CIS and the Republic, some Jedi opted to wear armored robes and gear than more traditional robes to protect them in the heart of battle.
    • As intense combat was almost always a challenge Anakin faced head-on and something he had to be ready for on a moment’s notice during the war, he was often seen wearing this outfit both in and out of combat.
    • After the hardships he faced during the Battle of Geonosis, Anakin evolved into one of the greatest generals in the Grand Army of the Republic, often leading the 501st Legion into battle as the tip of the spear.
    • The General Skywalker appearance will be available on the 26th of June for 1,000 crystals or 40,000 credits.
  • Trooper Skin: 212th Recon Division
    • The 212th Recon Division was outfitted with the angular Phase I ARF (Advanced Recon Force) armor and desert camo during the Second Battle of Geonosis when the Republic invaded the retaken world. Obi-Wan Kenobi (along with Anakin Skywalker and other Jedi Knights) led the siege with his loyal troops through dunes, canyons, and caverns of the Separatist-controlled planet.
    • Like a splinter of the 212th Attack Battalion, the 212th Recon Division specialized in covert operations behind enemy lines. Their primary mode of transportation consisted of agile all-terrain vehicles, such as the AT-RT.
  • Trooper Skin: 41st Scout Batallion
    • The 41st Scout Battalion was under the direction of Jedi Grand Master Yoda. The 41st Scout Trooper’s Phase II ARF armour, though featuring less plastoid plating compared to the traditional clone armour, allowed for greater mobility and flexibility in jungle-rainforest environments. The sunshield, wider visor, and overall shape of the helmet also help with vision when traversing or fighting in rainy foliage and wet regions.
    • This unit specialized in reconnaissance and warfare over difficult terrain, such as overgrown floral locations. Later, during the twilight hours of the Clone Wars, Commander Gree and Master Yoda deployed the 41st Scout Battalion onto the beaches of Kashyyyk to fend off a droid attack on the Wookiees, a system they could not afford to lose.
    • The 41st Scout Battalion appearances will be classed as Epic will be available for 40,000 credits or 1,000 crystals. The 212th Recon Division are rare and will cost 20,000 credits or 500 crystals.

July:

  • Clone Wars: Community Quests
    • Clone Wars Community Quests, weekly community quests to unlock new animated victory poses and VO lines for Clone Wars heroes all month long.

August:

  • Epic Battles: New Ways to Play
    • New Ways to Play Epic Battles, we want to expand the Battlefront II experience to players who want something besides traditional PvP. The first of these will drop in August, with more details revealed that month.

Fall:

  • New Map: Felucia
    • The colorful jungle world of Felucia will be arriving later in 2019 and is being built for Capital Supremacy. We can’t wait to take one of the most iconic planets of the Clone Wars era and bring it into the game.
  • Non-PVP Mode
    • New Non-PvP experiences to come. First look to be revealed in the Fall.

That’s a lot of stuff to look forward to, right? Once the June patch is released, we’ll let our readers know.

Report: New Rainbow Six Game to Be Announced at E3, Titled “Rainbow Six Quarantine”

With E3 just a few days away, that means leaks or purported leaks have come pouring in. While we already know that Ubisoft wil unveil a new Watch Dogs game at E3, it seems the publisher will announce a new Rainbow Six game as well.

This latest rumor comes from reliable industry insider Nibel who mentioned that this new Rainbow Six game will be called “Rainbow Six Quarantine,” and will be a co-op PvE game. It was also mentioned by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier in an episode of the Splitscreen podcast.

https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1136895468015882240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1136895468015882240&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eurogamer.net%2Farticles%2F2019-06-07-ubisoft-reportedly-set-to-announce-rainbow-six-quarantine-at-e3

Schreier also mentioned that a new, small-scoped RPG will be announced as well, and it will have an art style similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Of course, none of these are confirmed yet, but given how reliable these leakers are, I’d say the chances of these being legit are very, very high. We’ll know more for sure once Ubisoft’s E3 presser kicks off on June 10 at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET.

Report: Blizzard Cancels First-Person Shooter Based on StarCraft to Focus on Overwatch 2, Diablo 4

While Blizzard already has a first-person shooter game in Overwatch, it seems the studio was working on yet another FPS, but this one was based on the StarCraft universe. Keyword here is “was,” as the studio has since canned the game to focus on Overwatch 2, and on Diablo 4.

This latest bit of gaming news comes from Kotaku who states that they’ve talked to sources directly involved with the StarCraft-based shooter, which was in development for two years before being cancelled. According to sources, this in-development game was codenamed “Ares,” and was described as “like Battlefieled in the StarCraft universe.” Blizzard has already built prototypes in which the player, playing as a Terran marine, could gun down Zerg minions. There were even plans to experiment with playable Zerg as well.

Blizzard apparently cancelled the game so the studio working on this unannounced shooter could instead focus on Overwatch 2, and Diablo 4. Both games are said to be expected to be announced at this year’s BlizzCon, though things might change at anytime as is the norm with these things.

While we already know that Blizzard is working on Diablo 4, the real surprise here is Overwatch 2 (which isn’t the game’s final title). The same report mentions that Overwatch 2 has a larger PvE (player vs enemy) element, with a few Blizzard employees comparing it to Left 4 Dead.

Well, there you go, people. No StarCraft-based FPS for us, but expect Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 in the near future.

(Headline image is from StarCraft 2 expansion, and not from the cancelled game).

Destiny 2 Free to Play Release Date and Info Detailed, Here’s What You Can Play for Free

Earlier today, we ran a story about Destiny 2 going free-to-play based on a leak. Well, now, it’s confirmed! Announced during Bungie’s Destiny 2 livestream, the Destiny 2 free to play release date is set for September 17, but that’s not all you need to know.

Destiny 2 will be renamed as Destiny 2: New Light when it enters the F2P arena. In case you’re wondering which part of Destiny 2 will be part of the F2P initiative, look no further. ResetEra user LukarWuff has posted a summary of what was announced at Bungie’s livestream.

  • Beginning September 17th, the game will be renamed to Destiny 2: New Light. Alongside this, it will be made free to play, and will include the following content for free:
    • The base Destiny 2 game
    • The Curse of Osiris expansion
    • The Warmind expansion
    • Crucible (the PvP mode)
    • Gambit (the PvPvE mode originally introduced as part of Forsaken)
    • Patrol areas from later expansions, including Forsaken and Shadowkeep (the Tangled Shore, the Dreaming City, the Moon, etc.)
  • The Forsaken and Shadowkeep expansions, as well as Forsaken‘s Annual Pass, will still be paid purchases. Additionally, there will be a Shadowkeep Annual Pass; however, you will also be able to just buy the Shadowkeep seasons individually if you would prefer.
    • You will be able to purchase Forsaken and the Forsaken Annual Pass for $40 USD.
    • Shadowkeep will cost $35. There is also a $60 version that includes Shadowkeep and its Annual Pass. The cost of the pass’s individual seasons is not currently known.
    • Shadowkeep does not require you to own Forsaken or the Forsaken Annual Pass.
  • Beginning September 17th, PlayStation will no longer receive exclusive new content (weapons, strikes, etc.). All new content will be made available for all players on all platforms at the same time.
  • Cross-saving is being added to the game for allplatforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, PC). Original reporting/rumors/leaks suggested that PS4 would be excluded from this, but that is not the case.
    • Expansion purchases do not carry over between platforms. Purchases from the Eververse (including silver) will. Your purchased seasons will as well.
  • In September, by the time Shadowkeep releases, the PC version of the game will migrate from Battle.net to Steam.
    • Your purchases (including expansions, Eververse transactions, etc.) will carry over via transfer on Bungie.net.

Aside from Destiny 2 going the F2P route, there’s a ton more news about the game today. We now know that it’ll hit Google Stadia, and there’s also the game’s latest expansion called Shadowkeep. Oh, cross-save is also confirmed and it’ll include PS4 as well.

Bungie: Activision Were Great Partners, Feels Confident They Can Deliver as a Self-Publisher

Since the announcement back in January that Bungie would be parting ways from Activision, many had wondered what exactly this meant for the future of Destiny. In today’s Destiny 2 livestream, Bungie has mentioned with confidence that players can continue to expect loads of content to continue with each season.

Here’s what Destiny 2 Production Director Justin Truman said during the livestream:

Working with Activision, they were great partners. We knew this was going to end at the end of the annual pass, so what we’ve been working for in the last year is re-configuring the team to make sure that we are in place, where the set of content expectations that we set for players we can continue delivering on every single season. So I feel confident that we can keep delivering a seasons worth of content that Destiny players have come to expect every single season moving forward when its just us.

We’ll get a taste of what Bungie is referring to when the recently announced Destiny 2 expansion Shadowkeep is released this September. In other Destiny 2 news, it’s been confirmed that cross-save is coming to the game this fall, and yes, that includes the PS4.

Destiny 2 Cross-Save Release Date Set for This Fall, Will Include the PS4

Bungie has come out to clarify that Destiny 2 cross-save is indeed coming to Bungie’s looter shooter and will be available on all platforms, including the PS4! Contrary to early reports, cross-Save will indeed be launching on the PlayStation 4 along with every other platform that Destiny 2 is available on. According to Bungie, the Destiny 2 cross-save feature will be available this September.

“Cross-save is coming to ALL PLATFORMS, PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Stadia,” Mark Noseworthy stated during the Destiny livestream event,  “It is about taking Guardians you created and being able to play on any platform”

Cross save is a rather large feature, as it now allows players to continue their Destiny 2 progress from any platform they preferred. It makes it easier to switch between PC, to PS4 or Xbox, and vice-versa. The Destiny 2 cross-save feature is set to launch this September when the Shadowkeep expansion launches.

In case you missed out the announcement today, Destiny 2 is coming to Google Stadia.
