Battlefield V Beta Info Revealed – Here’s the Official Details

If you’re as excited for the upcoming Battlefield V beta like I am, chances are, you have a lot of questions. Whether it’s what time we can pre-load the beta client, what maps we’ll be able to play on, what weapons will be available and so on.

Well, thankfully, EA has thought of the same thing and has released a detailed Battlefield V info post that goes through everything — and I mean everything!

First up, the important info regarding when we can pre-load it, play it and when it ends.

PRE-LOAD OF OPEN BETA STARTS

OPEN BETA EARLY ACCESS STARTS
September 4, 1 am PT (10 am CET)

September 11, 7 am PT (4 pm CET)

We’ve compiled the important details which you can view in the screenshots below.

System Requirements
Xbox One players will need an internet connection and an Xbox Live Gold account to play the Battlefield V Open Beta. For PlayStation 4, all owners connected to the internet can get in on the action. If you’ll be playing on PC, you’ll want to know if your hardware is up to snuff. Minimum and recommended specs are below. Note that these are unique to the Open Beta, not necessarily to the final game of Battlefield V.

Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350

Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K

Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB

Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce® GTX 660 2GB

Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1060 3GB

DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent

Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

Available Disk Space: 50GB

For detailed info regarding the maps, weapons, classes and more, I suggest heading over to the official post by EA. It’s the same info shown in the images, but with a bit more detailed.

Don’t forget, EA has delayed Battlefield V by a month, so it’ll be out this November 20 instead of October. There’s also a rumor that cropped up that the publisher might make the battle royale component of BFV free, and even include a free copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Remaster as part of the package if sales aren’t up to snuff.

EA Shares Drop Due to Battlefield V Release Date Delay

Earlier today, EA and DICE announced that Battlefield V was going to miss its October release date, and instead, was going to ship out this November 20, 2018.

While most gamers might have been upset with the news, it seems EA might be more upset if this recent report is anything to go by. According to CNBC, shares of Electronic Arts (EA) plunged nearly 10 percent in the morning trading after the publisher announced the delay, and adjusted its full-year guidance to reflect lower sales.

This push back for Battlefield V also lowered the company’s expected net bookings for fiscal year 2018 to $5.2 billion from $5.5 billion.

Yep, that’s definitely going to hurt, no? Then again, with reports surfacing that BFV’s pre-orders were suffering heavily being sandwiched between Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2, this might have been the right move in the long run. EA also has a contingency plan prepared just in case sales are deemed too slow as well.

In other Battlefield V news, check out the latest gameplay videos we posted that showcases the Rotterdam map, and even doles out a few tips to help you with the upcoming beta.

“Erebus” Platform Found in Unreal Engine 4 Hints at the PS5

With the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One now in its fifth year, it’s only natural for most gamers to think ahead to the future. And in this case, that means the PS5. If Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 is any indication, it seems we’re on the cusp of Sony’s new console, or at least devs are working on it as we speak.

In the latest release of the Unreal Engine 4 game engine, a platform named “Erebus” was found in the engine’s supported platform list, and it’s even abbreviated “TST2” as you can see in the image below.

Path: C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_4.20\Engine\Plugins\Online\OnlineSubsystem\Source\Public\OnlineSubsystemNames.h

Erebus is also being utilized alongside the PS4 and Xbox One; here’s a pic of it “seen” side by side the two existing platforms.

The screenshot above puportedly shows the Unreal Engine 4 checking if the game supports cross platform play, which could mean that the Erebus system having the potential to cross-play with current-gen consoles.

Path: C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_4.20\Engine\Plugins\Online\OnlineSubsystemUtils\Source\OnlineSubsystemUtils\Private\PartyBeaconState.cpp

There’s also the tag in the image “bPS4SeenOtherConsole” which suggests that the Erebus is an actual console.

So why is this being linked to the PS5? According to Wikipedia, Erebus is from Greek mythology and the description reads:

In Greek mythology, Erebus /ˈɛrɪbəs, -əb-/, also Erebos (Greek: Ἔρεβος, “deep darkness, shadow”), was often conceived as a primordial deity, representing the personification of darkness; for instance, Hesiod’s Theogony identifies him as one of the first five beings in existence, born of Chaos.

Aside from the number “five” being mentioned (PS5, get it?), Sony also has a history of using Greek names for its consoles. Case in point? The PS4 was codenamed the “Orbis” before, and the PSVR was known as Morpheus before being officially named.

Of course, these are all conjecture at this point, so take it with a grain of salt. Just to further add fuel to the fire, we reported a few months ago that PS5 devkits were being sent out to third-party developers already. Finally, back in April, the first PS5 info regarding its tech specs made its way online from a reliable source.

Should we expect a PS5 announcement anytime soon? If past console announcements are anything to go by, don’t be surprised to hear about it next year.

Battlefield V Delayed to November, DICE Says They Want to Get It “Right”

Big news, people! DICE has posted on EA’s official website that Battlefield V has been delayed! Instead of October 19, 2018, the new Battlefield V release date is November 20, 2018, and yes, that’s for all platforms!

Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager of DICE, had the following to say:

Today, we’re announcing that Battlefield V will have a new launch date – November 20, 2018. I wanted to give you a little bit of insight into how we arrived at this new date.

Over the summer, we’ve had tens of thousands of players get their hands on the game during our Closed Alphas and at E3 and Gamescom – where we were honored to receive the awards for Best Multiplayer Game at both shows.

You have told us that you are seeing an increased focus on squad play come through, you are also feeling the difference in our revamped player movement and we are getting a lot of positive feedback for our improved weapons handling.

You’ve also spurred us to make some meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience, including adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction. You’ll see a lot of these reflected in our Open Beta that starts on September 6.

We believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands.  A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience, Battle Royale, along with our new live service, Tides of War – a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together.

With the Open Beta just around the corner, we are excited about the millions of you who will join us and experience the game. And we fully expect to see even more feedback coming our way.

And that’s why we’re moving our launch date. We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War.

We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we’re going to take our time to make sure we get it right.

Thank you for your continued passion and support.  We can’t wait to see you on the battlefield in just a few days.

Of course, skeptics might see this as proof that the rumors circulating that the game’s pre-order sales figures are not doing well as the main reason for the delay. We even posted a rumor yesterday from a reliable tipster that mentioned EA plans to roll out the battle royale mode of BFV for free, and maybe even include Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Remaster as part of the package if sales aren’t doing too well.

Are you OK with the delay? Don’t forget, there’s a beta set to come next month, so you’ll be able to get some hands-on time with it even if it’s delayed.

Battlefield V Beta End Date & Time Revealed (Update)

Update:

EA has blown the lid wide open in terms of Battlefield V open beta details, and it seems PS Plus won’t be required for PS4 gamers! Unfortunately, Xbox Live Gold is still needed for Xbox One people. Bummer.

Original Story:

While we already reported on when the Battlefield V beta start date and pre-load time will start, the actual end date was left a little ambiguous by DICE. Well, not anymore! Thanks to the PlayStation Store (via the BFV subreddit), we now know that the Battlefield V beta end date is set for September 11, 22:00 BST (5 p.m. ET)!

Don’t forget that those who pre-order will get a two days’ (48 hours) head start ahead of everybody else. Once that’s done, the gates will open to everyone!

In case you didn’t read the text in the image above, it specifically states that a PlayStation Plus membership is needed in order to participate in the open beta. Those on the Xbox One, chances are, an active Xbox Live Gold membership is needed as well.

It’s been a big week for Battlefield V; what with the gamescom footage embargo lifting yesterday, and along with it, a deluge of info and footage has come to surface. Also of note, a recent big rumor has come to light that mentions EA has plans for to roll out Battlefield V’s battle royale mode for free, and even include a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Remaster post-launch.

Keep it locked in here on MP1st for the latest in Battlefield V news.

For Honor Arcade Mode and New Hero Faction “Wu Lin” Revealed in New Clip

If you’re one of the suddenly very many For Honor players out there right now, then you’ll want to hit play on the video below, as it introduces a For Honor Arcade Mode, and a new hero faction named “Wu Lin” as well.

Check the three-minute clip out to see for yourself and read the official press release straight from Ubisoft.

Arcade introduces a whole new way to play For Honor, either solo or in two player online co-op. In Arcade, players fight battles that feature increasingly challenging waves of enemies with different objectives and modifiers, offering infinite replayability with new challenges every time. This quick play mode is the perfect chance for all players to explore new Heroes and level them up before taking them into PvP, with all rewards earned during this mode carrying over to multiplayer. Players who own Marching Fire will also be able to invite any friend to join them in co-op, even if that friend does not own the Marching Fire expansion.

All players will be able to recruit the new Wu Lin Heroes using in-game Steel after the initial early access period, as well as access the 4v4 castle siege mode, “Breach”, for free. Additionally, all players will benefit from free graphical enhancements that will improve the in-game textures, introduce a revamped lighting system and new sky gradients and also provide further quality of life improvements including an updated user interface and a new responsive dialog system.

Players can now pre-order For Honor Marching Fire for $29.99, which will grant four new heroes from the new Wu Lin faction, and pre-ordering will also net early buyers with the “Wu Lin” pack, which includes one Elite Outfit for all Wu Lin heroes (a $25 value according to Ubisoft).

DICE Dev Comments on Why Battlefield V Is Better Without Being “Shackled” by Battlefield Premium

If you’ve been playing Battlefield the past few years, then chances are you’re familiar with EA’s Battlefield Premium service. While some might call it as just a Season Pass, fans know how much content there is in each expansion that the price is justified most of the time.

However, not everyone is a fan of Battlefield Premium since it fractures the player base when it comes to maps, and it seems even some of DICE’s own developers think Battlefield V is better off without it. DICE Multiplayer Producer David Sirland recently went on Reddit to talk about why Battlefield V not going the Premium route is a good thing, which was a conversation that stemmed from a fan over on Twitter.

In case that didn’t show up, here’s the Reddit post in full:

It’s all connected to how many maps and how often (being the most expensive content type) -not how good they are or what is interesting to pursue at a point in time Compare to the community map project (BF4) which was outside of premium.. I’d rather do more things like that and less cookie cutter content based on numbers. More damavand peak unique gameplay levels, less more of the same mentality. What I’m saying is that instead of forcing things we can freely spend time on things making the game bigger, more interesting and unique rather than just more content period. There’s several things we’ve never been able to do in the previous model that are now possible. You ask the expectation question like this is a new situation to process. If expectations aren’t met – expect us to do what we did with Bf4 – fix it. We didn’t abandon anything then, and won’t now. But speculation aside – I’m more then certain the gameplay is what players play games for, and we have it, and it’s good – expectations will be satisfied. Try the beta, let us know if I’m right or not.

Personally, I’m all for having the maps free for everyone. Sure, EA will definitely find another way to siphon money off of Battlefield V players, but as long as that doesn’t involve anything game-altering, then it’s fine by me.

In other news, make sure to check out the (big) rumor that sprung up today, which involves EA, Battlefield V and a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Remaster!

Activision Shoots Out the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Top Plays From the Multiplayer Beta

If you missed the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer beta, then this might do the trick! Activision has released a Black Ops 4 top plays video from the beta! Expect a quick montage of sniper shots, bullet sandwiches, Specalist kills galore and more.

Speaking of betas, don’t forget that the Black Ops 4 battle royale mode (called Blackout) is getting its own beta this September. If you were part of the multiplayer beta, don’t delete the beta client as it’ll be used for Blackout as well.

Activision has also announced the existence of “Signature Weapons” yesterday, so make sure to give that a read too.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available this October 19 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Rumor: Battlefield V Sales Boost Plans Include Making Battle Royale Free, Bad Company 2 Remaster

Hold on to your seats, folks! This is a big one! Remember when we posted that Battlefield V pre-orders were lagging behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 by 85 percent? Well, it seems EA has something BIG up its sleeve in terms of winning back gamers if this recent rumor is to be believed.

Over on the Giant Bombcast (#547), an anonymous tipster (who emailed the site regarding correct information about Battlefield V E3 info, which the group claimed was accurate) emailed them that some fans comparing Battlefield V’s weak pre-order sales to Titanfall 2 are “pretty far off base” since Battlefield V’s pre-orders have already beaten Titanfall 2’s week one sales AND pre-orders at this point.

What’s more, the tipster said EA won’t let the game (BFV) under-perform too drastically, and some of the contingency plans the publisher has is to make Battlefield V’s battle royale mode free-to-play with bonus for those who own BFV to make up the revenue difference, and it’s also considering something “huge” as part of the game’s post-release content if it needs to boost sales of BFV, and that would be a remastered version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (the tipster compared it to Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remaster)! Note that the tipster mentioned that nothing is set in stone just yet, though these ideas are being “kicked around”

What makes this Bad Company 2 Remaster news more plausible than the multitude of rumors floating about? It seems Giant Bomb head honcho Jeff Gerstmann has heard about it too! Gerstmann says, “I did hear some ideas like that being kicked around, but I wasn’t sure of the context. So I guess that makes sense.”

You can check this out yourself in the video below, and the Battlefield V discussion starts around the 2:23:30 part).

Bear in mind that these are all rumors and nothing has been confirmed by EA or DICE. We’ve emailed EA regarding this and will update the story if and when we get a response.

My take? I find the Bad Company 2 Remaster thing veering into the “too good to be true” territory. What’s more, won’t EA cannibalize BFV’s multiplayer if it does this? That alone makes me suspect that this will be part of BFV’s sales boosting strategy. Then again, we’ve seen weirder things happen, so who knows.

In other Battlefield news, make sure to check out the guns available in the upcoming beta to see how they behave. DICE has also talked about BFV’s improved gunplay and likened it to fan-favorite, Battlefield 3.

Battlefield V is set for release this October 19 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

While Star Wars Battlefront II got the Elite Corps update earlier today, the real thing fans want to see finally made its way out! Yes, I’m talking about the official Star Wars Battlefront 2 roadmap 2018 edition!

Check out the full Star Wars Battlefront 2 roadmap 2018 breakdown below.

September – The Improved Squad System Is Coming

September will mark the arrival of the new Squad System, bringing the ability for players to spawn on squad members, available first in Galactic Assault, Blast, and Strike modes. Aimed to encourage team play, the Squad System is an improved and streamlined way for players to stick together in Star Wars Battlefront II.

The 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps and 104th Wolfpack Battalion are also coming in September. The additional clone trooper Appearances are joining the ranks of the Galactic Republic.

The Squad System, supplementary Appearances, and more, will be detailed separately here on the official Star WarsBattlefront II website closer to the September drop date.

October – All About General Grievous

The first of the heroes announced at EA PLAY, General Grievous, is debuting in Star Wars Battlefront II this October. The droid army general will be joining his villainous peers on the dark side, certainly looking to add to his collection of Jedi lightsabers.

November – The Month of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Geonosis

Countering General Grievous, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is reinforcing the light side of the Force in November. Obi-Wan will be able to demonstrate his heroic abilities in our newest Galactic Assault map, Geonosis. Releasing in November, the new location is known as a major theatre of conflict during the Clone Wars. Traversing the Geonosian home world will be even more exciting with the addition of three new vehicles: the STAP, the BARC speeder, and the AT-TE.

Also in November, the 212th Attack Battalion clone soldiers are approaching – made available as trooper Appearances for the Galactic Republic. These soldiers notably aided Obi-Wan in his hunt for General Grievous.

Winter – Count Dooku, New Large-Scale Mode, Anakin Skywalker, and More

Count Dooku, Yoda’s old Padawan who turned to the dark side with a thirst for more power, is bringing his menace to Star Wars Battlefront II.

The Coruscant Guard – an elite division of clone troopers originally serving as peacekeepers on the Republic capital planet of Coruscant – will be available as trooper Appearances for the Galactic Republic, too.

And, we’re excited to be releasing a new mode in Star Wars Battlefront II, a non-linear Star Wars sandbox experience. In this mode two teams battle for capture points and to ultimately bring down capital ships.

If all that wasn’t enough, for the first time, Anakin Skywalker becoming playable as a hero for the light side. Famously under Anakin’s lead during the Clone Wars, and later known as “Vader’s Fist,” the 501st Legion clone trooper Appearances* also come into play during this period.

General Grievous, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku, and Anakin Skywalker will all get additional Appearances as well.

swbf2 roadmap 2018

Hopefully, DICE can keep up the roadmap, and in turn, the playerbase will be more appreciative of what’s coming down the pipeline in the coming months.

Are you satisfied with what’s shown by DICE? Or were you expecting more?

Battlefield V Beta Guns Overview

With the Battlefield V Rotterdam gameplay/gamescom embargo lifting today, a flood of new footage was released by various YouTubers and content makers all over the internet.

One such video making the rounds is LevelCap’s Battlefield V beta guns overview. Lasting 12 minutes long, LevelCap takes a look at the guns along with their attachments. What’s more, we can see the weapons being used in actual confrontations.

The new gun customization system definitely looks loads better than what Battlefield 1 offered.

In other Battlefield V news, make sure to check out the video we posted yesterday detailing the game’s console performance, and the game’s co-op mode, Combined Arms, seems to be set for release post-launch.

Based on the footage, which weapons will you main in the BFV beta once it hits next month?

Destiny 2 Roadmap Year 2 Detailed by Bungie

While Bungie just released Destiny 2: Forsaken yesterday, the onslaught of new content won’t stop there. To ensure Destiny 2 players have something to do, enemies to slay, strikes to conquer and more, Bungie has revealed the Destiny 2 Roadmap year 2 plans.

Check out the trailer below, as well as details on the upcoming seasons, Annual Pass and more.

Seasons of Change

Destiny 2: Forsaken kicks off the Season of the Outlaw. Once you’ve completed the campaign, hunted down the Barons, secured some of your favorite new weapons, and explored the new worlds and the challenges that await, you can expect to see us continue updating the game with new activities and rewards. We’ve also hidden away many surprises for you to discover, and the information and roadmap below aren’t intended to spoil them, but rather to give you a broad sense of what’s to come.
After Season of the Outlaw concludes, each subsequent three-month Season will usher in a month-over-month roll out of new experiences, events, rewards, and activities, most of which will be available for free to every Destiny 2 player.

Annual Pass

The Forsaken Annual Pass is different than the traditional post-launch Destiny expansions we’ve delivered in years past. Black Armory, Joker’s Wild and Penumbra will offer a range of different experiences that consist of new endgame activities and modes, discovery, and challenges that escalate, ebb, and flow over time, with each offering prestigious rewards.
Annual Pass content will release throughout the year, working in concert with our free Seasons to help keep the world alive and fresh.Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra each deliver multiple beats that span the length of a given Season. We believe the overall experience will feel markedly different to Destiny players, in a really good way.
Bungie mentions that more details and changes will be revealed as we get closer to the events marked in the Destiny 2 roadmap year 2.
Have you tried the Forsaken expansion yet? Is the roadmap enough to convince you that Bungie has enough endgame content to keep fans happy?
