Just yesterday, CD Projekt RED released a hefty 48-minute gameplay walkthrough of its highly anticipated sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. In case you weren’t able to watch the entire thing through, a big chunk of that was spent on the Cyberpunk 2077 character creation system.
In case you’re curious how it works, check out the video below. You’ll see how robust the Cyberpunk 2077 character creator is, and we’re even given a background story of sorts. Prepare to meet the “ripper doc” and see how human augmentations are installed in Cyberpunk 2077!
In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the game will be optimized for PCs and consoles right from the very beginning. Speaking to CGMagOnline, Cyberpunk 2077 Cinematic Animator Maciej Pietras had this to say:
We knew we are developing the game for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And we started the process of optimization right at the start. So that’s why what you see running on the demo is a PC, which is like i7 and 1080 Ti. We are from scratch thinking about optimization, about how the streaming works, how to introduce global illumination, for instance, without overwhelming the CPU.
For those worried that DICE might treat Battlefield V the same way it handled Star Wars Battlefront II post-launch, don’t worry! While DICE has said that we shouldn’t worry, it seems the studio is also making sure fans know what to expect in the coming days and months, as DICE has confirmed that we’ll see roadmaps (yes, plural) for the game!
Over on Twitter, DICE Multiplayer Producer David Sirland confirmed that Battlefield V roadmaps will be “coming.”
Got that Good. Now for some bad news. It seems that Battlefield V’s co-op mode called “Combined Arms” won’t be available at launch! This was confirmed by the official EA website no less where it detailed the multplayer portion of the game.
Battlefield V’s new multiplayer experiences are the biggest and boldest yet. Multi-map Grand Operations delivers iconic action – like paratrooper raids, tank assaults, and aerial dogfights – while the all-new battle royale mode and cooperative Combined Arms gives you more to look forward to after launch. Signature rock-paper-scissors gameplay rewards skill and strategy in 64-player all-out war against infantry, vehicles, and aircraft.
Yep, that’s a bummer, no? Of course, given that most people will spend their time on multiplayer, and it seems to be shaping up just fine, makes the wait a tad bit easier to take.
Make sure to check out how the console versions of BFV fares in this detailed look.
If you ask any long-time Call of Duty fan what they think is the best game in the franchise, chances are, you’ll hear Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 mentioned repeatedly. While that topic is up for debate, Xbox One owners will be thrilled to know that the Modern Warfare 2 Xbox One backwards compatibility switch will be turned on today!
This was announced by Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb over on Twitter:
— Larry Hryb, Gamer Emeritus 📱⌨️🖱️🎮 (@majornelson) August 28, 2018
If you’re an old school Call of Duty player, this should make your day, no? Now if you’re looking forward to the upcoming entry in the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, then head on over to our Black Ops 4 hub page for the latest news regarding the title.
Anyone heading back t Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox One? What are you looking forward to the most?
While the Battlefield franchise started on PC, there’s no denying how big of a fan base the franchise has on consoles. Sure, it might look less impressive than its PC counterparts, but it seems console Battlefield V players have nothing to worry about.
YouTuber TheTacticalBrit was fortunate enough to get some hands on time with the Xbox One X version of Battlefield V at gamescom, and he jotted down what he noticed during his playthrough.
According to TheTacticalBrit (Twitter link), the Xbox One X version was running at 4K resolution, and in comparison to PC, it looked like it was a mix of medium/high settings. The frame rate was between 50-60 frames-per-second (fps), with no noticeable drops, though it did dip into the high 40’s from time to time.
Based on the console’s performance, he estimates that Battlefield V will run similar to Battlefield 1, which is 4K resolution, 60fps on the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, and 900-1000p resolution at 40-60fps on the base model PS4, and 720p-900p at 40-60fps on the base model Xbox One.
Do note that these are based on an early build of the game, and as such, things might change come launch.
In other Battlefield V news, the Rotterdam gameplay embargo is set to lift tomorrow! So make sure to keep an eye on that. However, you can view some leaked footage of that right here. We also posted what the gun customization loadout screen looks like, so give that a look.
If you’re one of the many people who pay for online multiplayer access for the Xbox One, then chances are part of the reason you’ve subscribed is for the free games each month. Today, Microsoft has announced the Xbox Games With Gold September 2018 list, and it’s a mixed bag.

If you’re hoping that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has an extra layer of customization never seen before in any Call of Duty game, you’re in luck! Activision has just announced the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Signature Weapons!
Now, before anyone gets too excited and assumes “Signature Weapons” are these paid weapon variants with game-altering stats, don’t. They’re purely cosmetic in nature! Signature Weapons are cosmetic variations of the base weapons each with their own challenges and rewards.
For the first time in a Call of Duty game, Black Ops 4 will introduce Signature Weapons. These are cosmetic variations of the base weapons in Black Ops 4, each with their own challenges and rewards. Signature weapons do not have any game-altering stats and perform exactly like their base weapon counterparts. The beauty of Signature Weapons is in the additional layers of depth that they add to the game’s progression with their individual challenges. These challenges must be completed in order to unlock additional cosmetic rewards for that weapon, with the final being a Mastercraft version of the Signature Weapon.
Signature Weapons are the most badass looking weapons in Black Ops 4, and a badge of honor for the battle-hardened players that have invested the time to achieve the Mastercraft versions.
Gamers who buy the Digital Deluxe, Digital Deluxe Enhanced, Pro Edition or Mystery Box Edition of the shooter will receive the MX-9 Signature Weapon on day one (it’s the image shown above with the eagle).
In addition to that, GameStop pre-order buyers will receive the Strige pistol Signature Weapon called “Divinity” on day one too. Players who can complete the in-game challenges with the Divinity, and manage to unlock all of its rewards can then obtain the “Divine Justice” which you can see below.
Not a bad addition the game’s progression system and carrot-on-a-stick game design, no?

Bungie has also posted the list of “Vital Information and Emergent Issues” that players need to know.
VITAL INFORMATION AND EMERGENT ISSUES
Light Level Armor: Players who own only the base Destiny 2 game and Curse of Osiris will not be able to infuse the Solstice of Heroes armor into other armor pieces when Forsaken launches. Xûr’s Three of Coins: After Update 2.0.0, Xûr will no longer sell the Three of Coins consumable. The consumable will be able to be dismantled for Legendary Shards after the launch of Forsaken. Tracked Pursuits: From Update 2.0.0 until the launch of Forsaken, players may receive an error when selecting a Pursuit, which reads “You can only track 4 items at a time”. Weapon Mods: After Update 2.0.0, exotic weapons will lose their +5 Power from Year 1 damage mods; all other weapons and armor will lose their +5 Power from Year 1 legendary mods at the launch of Forsaken. Vault Display: From Update 2.0.0 until the launch of Forsaken, players with a high amount of items in the Vault may not load items and descriptions correctly. Transmat Previews: After Update 2.0.0, players may experience a visual issue when previewing Transmat Effects, where a player’s character does not ‘drop in’ as they usually would. Lest Ye Be Judged: After Update 2.0.0, Trials of the Nine will be on hiatus, and players will be unable to unlock the “Lest Ye Be Judged” Trophy or Achievement during this time. Due to this, Playstation players will not be able to unlock the Platinum Trophy. Players should stay tuned to our News page for future announcements regarding Trials of the Nine. Slot Changes and the Postmaster: After Update 2.0.0, weapon slot changes will occur, and weapons will no longer be sorted into slots based on ammo. Fusion rifles, single-shot grenade launchers, shotguns, and sniper rifles are no longer exclusive to the Power weapon slot. Kinetic weapons are stored in the Primary slot, and elemental weapons are stored in the Special slot. Due to these changes, weapons can potentially be moved to the Postmaster, as certain slots may become overfilled. It is recommended to clear all items from the Postmaster before Update 2.0.0 to ensure no items will be lost from the Postmaster inventory. Triple Tap Perk: The Triple Tap weapon perk will pull ammo from reserves until the launch of Forsaken on September 4; at that time, the perk will change to give free ammo when used. Thin the Herd Perk: The perk description for Thin the Herd on Fighting Lion will incorrectly list old behavior of dropping Energy ammo. After Update 2.0.0, this perk will actually drop Primary ammo for Year 2. Bring the Heat Perk: The Bring the Heat armor perk for Ashen Wake may incorrectly state “Direct hits with Fusion Grenades will recharge grenade energy.” Ashen Wake will not be receiving this additional perk, and players should expect this description to be revised at a later date. Flashpoint Quest Percentages: After Update 2.0.0, Flashpoint quests will display an incorrect percentage amount of 1% when viewing the percentage from the vendor who gives the quest; players are recommended to check the quest in their inventory. This issue will be resolved at the launch of Forsaken. Nightfall Scoring: From Update 2.0.0 until the launch of Forsaken, Nightfall Strike Scoring will be disabled.

The big Call of Duty: WWII update is finally here! Not only does it bring a new Division (Commando) into the mix, but it adds two new Basic Trainings and a lot more.
Clocking in at a hefty 10GB on consoles (PC will get it tomorrow), the COD WW2 update 1.20 file is now ready for download on both PS4 and Xbox One! You can check below for the patch notes straight from Sledgehammer Games.
FEATURE UPDATES:
NEW Division: COMMANDO – Commandos are versatile, self-sufficient soldiers that excel at capitalizing on an advantage. Equipped with a personal Paratrooper Insert, combatants in this new division can drop into battle from the skies, either landing behind enemy lines or right next to the objective. On top of their ability to get into the action faster than any other division, Commandos boast a variety of benefits that are activated when they perform well. Not only do they regenerate health quicker, but killing an enemy soldier instantly activates health regeneration, allowing the Commando to get into the next fight even sooner. On top of that, multikills and headshots grant additional score as well as ammo. Playing as a Commando can give you the upper hand when fighting a group of enemies, but only if you’re able to keep these abilities active. Finally, Commandos of the highest rank can equip two Basic Trainings at all times. With the flexibility of two Basic Trainings, the ability to take down enemy after enemy without pause, and access to the powerful utility of Paratrooper Insert, Commandos are a force to be reckoned with in any map or mode.
NEW Basic Training: Catalyst – Gain access to a special serum that can be used in battle to increase weapon handling for a short time. The serum regenerates over time, so save it for the most pivotal moments in a match.
NEW Basic Training: Remedy – Health regenerates quicker.
MULTIPLAYER:
Fixed Issue with 15th and 16th create a class slots
Fixed Issue with Lever Action reload animation when Iron Sights Attachment equipped
Fixed issue with Cavalry Shield Hitbox misalignment
UI:
Various UI improvements.
Fixed issue with UI Error Message when attempting to access the Quartermaster.

Over on Twitter, Anthem Game Director Jonathan Warner answered a few fan questions regarding the game’s cosmetic customization for the Javelins (the mechs players suit up in). You can check out the questions and the corresponding answers below.
So far, so good. It seems Anthem’s visual customization is on the right track, no? No one-time use for shaders, stats aren’t tied to the way you look, and so on.
Also of note, Warner mentions that info regarding the Anthem beta will be made public “soon.”
It’s no secret by now that possibly one of the biggest video game failures in recent memory is BossKey Productions’ LawBreakers. Not only did it fail to capture a big crowd at launch, but its playerbase on PC dropped to zero mere months after release!
While video game fans might each have their own explanation as to why the game died, it’s another thing to hear it from the developers’ perspective. In a video interview, Former Senior Gameplay developer for LawBreakers Nathan Wulf sits down and talks about the game and why it didn’t succeed. One of the chief reasons he thinks? It’s mostly due to the “arena shooter” genre (ie: Unreal Tournament, Quake) not being as “widely accepted” by gamers compared to generations ago.
YouTuber Lion HeartZ talks to Wulf, and had the following question for the developer.
Q: So you know, half AAA price for a multiplayer game; it had a bunch of maps, it had classes, it had content at launch. But I think you could make the argument that the barrier to entry for the player base in price as well as in gameplay definitely hurt it in the long run. Do you think LawBreakers would have succeeded better if you guys have chosen to stick to more traditional gameplay loop styles?
Wulf: I think that could have helped. I fear that…(it hurts me to say this), but the fast-paced, more arena style shooter genre is just not (a) widely accepted gameplay style. Like, if you take a look at the games that are popular now and they have very slow gameplay. Like, PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) and Fortnite, and stuff. I mean, they’re somewhat fast as far as character movements goes, but the overall pacing of the game, you could spend 20 minutes and never even find someone to shoot at. Or something like LawBreakers, like, literally every second and every bullet you fire is critical to being able to have a chance to win.
Wulf also adds that Cliff’s thinking (Cliff Blezinski, BossKey Productions big boss) was, every 10 years or so, we kind of cycle through the genre of games, and uses the current trend of World War 1 shooters being the “in” thing now compared to modern shooters the past few years as an example. His (Blezinksi) idea was LawBreakers would catch the “beginning of the wave” right back into arena shooters. Wulf doesn’t seem to agree with this, as he cited other games were released in the arena shooter genre, and they too failed to generate any buzz.
Check out the complete interview below, it’s a hefty 44-minute chat, but it’s an enlightening one and gives us further insight into why LawBreakers failed. The arena style shooter discussion starts around the
Do you agree with Wulf’s answers? Is it due to the arena shooter genre not being popular enough? Or is it mostly due to the game’s quality itself? Or maybe the amount of competition it faced is to blame?

While we reported a few days ago that the Battlefield V gamescom embargo would lift later today, EA has held off on the embargo lift due to the unfortunate incident that happened in the Madden tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. The embargo is now set to lift tomorrow, August 28.
This was confirmed by a slew of YouTube content creators over on Twitter.
As a result of the unfortunate events in Jacksonville yesterday, we've been asked to respectfully delay releasing our rotterdam footage till tomorrow due to the sensitivity of the matter and out of respect for those affected. I hope you all understand the decision.
Whilst you may still see some footage go up from people who did not get the memo in time, I will not be posting anything and you will notice that all EA accounts will likely remain dark. Please keep those affected in your thoughts today.
In case you can’t read the text, here’s what it says:

This was corroborated by Flakfire as well.
In light of the shooting in Jacksonville, EA's Battlefield team has shifted the embargo date on #BattlefieldV Rotterdam content to the 28th, and the Battlefield Stream Team has been told to stand down. I know you're anxious to see new stuff, but this is a time for reflection.
Fortunately, gameplay footage of Battlefield V from gamescom did leak out, so make sure to check that out. If that’s not your bag, make sure to read up on the info collected from the show floor, as well as the .
If you’re a Star Wars Battlefront II player, then chances are, you’re not feeling particularly well right now regarding the game. Aside from the lac of communication from EA & DICE in terms of post-launch support, some of the expected content that should have been released already is still MIA.
With Battlefront II being developed by DICE, and the studio’s upcoming game, Battlefield V, set to hit this October, some gamers have been wondering whether BFV will meet the same fate as BFII. Over on Twitter, David Sirland, who’s the Multiplayer Producer on Battlefield V, was asked by a fan regarding post-launch content, and if BFV “will be another SWBF2.”
Did this happen with Bf4 and that launch? No, won't happen this time either (irregardless of monetary model / premium). BF is not the same franchise, not a license based one and this is what, number 15 in the running? Chill.
For context: Sirland was part of the Battlefield 1 live team that delivered fantastic post-launch content to the shooter after the main DICE team has moved on to other projects. Hence, why he referenced BF4 and not Battlefield 1, or the other Battlefield titles.
In case you’re wondering if you should be worried on how the game’s shaping up, don’t, as the still-in-development shooter even won the “Best Multiplayer” award at gamescom!
Here’s some super bad and sad news to darken your weekend: a Madden 19 tournament was the scene of a deadly mass shooting incident today in Jacksonville, Florida.
According to reports, multiple people, including the suspected gunman, was part of the list of casualties. The shooting took place at Jacksonville Landing, which is a downtown marketplace, and the place where a Madden 19 tournament was taking place.
The report by the L.A. Times mentions that the shooter was a gamer who was competing in the tournament and lost, with the info provided by Steven “Steveyj” Javaruski, who’s one of the competitors in the said tournament. Javaruski states that the shooter “targeted a few people” and shot at least five other victims before killing himself.
There’s no official tally as of the moment, but according to witnesses, four people had been fatally shot, with the number of victims totaling 11.
We’ll update the story as more info surfaces.
Our deepest condolences and thoughts to everybody affected by this.
Also of note, please don’t be an asshole and try to pin this to EA.
