Far Cry 5 Sales Numbers Breaks Franchise Sales Records

In a press release, Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 5 is now the best-selling game in the franchise’s history! Not only did Far Cry 5 more than doubled its first week sell-through (sold, not shipped) of Far Cry 4, it’s now also the biggest launch ever for a Ubisoft game, only beaten by The Division.

Regarding player engagement, people have streamed more than 55,000 hours of Far Cry 5 on Twitch, while YouTube videos showcasing the game have netted more than 117 million views! Both are records for a Ubisoft game just a week out from launch.

While no official Far Cry 5 sales numbers were given out, Ubisoft did share that it’s only second to The Division in terms of consumer spending through the first week, with the shared world shooter nabbing over $310 million. Also of note, more than 50 percent of Far Cry 5’s sales are via digital distribution.

Ubisoft has also shared a nifty infographic giving us interesting in-game stats!

For more on Far Cry 5, make sure to check out this game-breaking bug that can ruin your game save. We also posted a report where user created maps via the game’s arcade” mode where Counter-Strike’s de_dust2, and more famous maps were recreated.

Have you joined the resistance in Montana? What’s your take on the game so far?

PUBG Savage Map Update Makes Initial Tweaks, Squads Playlist Now Available

PUBG Savage map update has been deployed to the Closed Experimental Server. It tweaks a number of gameplay elements that should make for a better overall experience. Item and weapons now spawn more frequently inside buildings, and the blue zone appears before players parachute.

The Squads playlist has also been opened up to players, with Duos presumably being added later.

Here’s the full list of PUBG Savage map update patch notes:

  • Increased the item and weapon spawn rates inside residential buildings and small cabins to improve the looting experience along the outskirts of the map.
  • The first blue zone circle will show up right at the beginning of the match so players can plan their strategy before parachuting.
  • Blue zone time adjusted to speed up gameplay during the first phase of the match.
  • Red zone frequency has been lowered
  • There are now fewer explosions inside each red zone. The size of the red zone remains the same.
  • Vans now spawn less often. The two-wheeled motorcycle spawns more often. Motorbikes with sidecars have been removed from Codename: Savage.

The first testing phase for the PUBG Savage map ends on April 5.

In other PUBG news, the new Savage map has begun closed testing this week, the first PUBG Event Mode is under way and utilizes the flare gun, and weapon skins have now been added to the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Swings to PS4 This September 7, Collector’s and Digital Deluxe Versions Revealed

While the PlayStation 4 has no shortage of exclusive (and great) games coming to the console, pencil another one in for later this year! Marvel’s Spider-Man, which is being developed by the folks over at Insomniac Games (Ratchet & Clank, inFamous), has now been confirmed for a September 7 release date!

Announced by Sony over at the PlayStation Blog, the Spider-Man PS4 release date isn’t the only thing revealed today, we’re also shown the box art, and the Collector’s and Digital Deluxe editions too! Before anything else though, check out the box art.

Not that exciting? Yeah, I thought so too. However, the Digital Deluxe and Collector’s editions kind of make up for it. Check each one’s contents below.

Digital Deluxe

The Digital Deluxe edition of the game ($79.99 MSRP) will include a copy of the game as well as new story chapters with our post-launch DLC series – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. That’s right, we’ll be supporting the game post-launch and you’ll be getting three new chapters each with new missions, new villains and characters, and additional suits for Spider-Man. More details on that a bit later down the road. Buyers who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive by mail a limited edition collectible pin (only available to residents of US and Canada) featuring Spider-Man as he appears on the cover art for the game.

Collector’s Edition

The Collector’s Edition ($149.99 MSRP, while supplies last) includes all of the digital content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a Steelbook case featuring the iconic white spider, Mini Artbook from Titan Books, and an awesome Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Gentle Giant. Pay extra special attention to the statue though and you’ll notice something is obviously missing. We haven’t revealed the entire statue for the Collector’s Edition, just Spider-Man perched on top of something. What could that be? It’s too spoilery to show you now, but stay tuned!

Your Spidey itch still not scratched? There’s also a new video to accompany the release date announcement as well.

Gaming mag Game Informer has Marvel’s Spider-Man as its cover game of the month, so there should be a fair number of interviews, features and more coming from ’em if you want more Spidey info.

Who’s ready to swing into action and beat baddies senseless with webs and quips? I know I can’t wait.

Fortnite 10GB Update Deployed to PS4, Is Unintentionally Massive

Fortnite 10GB update is rolling out to PS4 users (patch 1.53) and it’s causing all kinds of rumors to spread. With talk of the Tilted Towers landing zone being removed, many players have been expecting a big update to drop and shake up the map.

Unfortunately, for those expecting a game-changing patch, update 3.4.4 (known as 1.53 on PS4) is only intended to fix a crash issue that was occurring. Despite its giant size, the Fortnite 10GB update has no other purpose.

The Fortnite 10GB update’s large size is “unexpected,” says Epic Games. The latest comment from the developer states that they are “looking into this issue right now, and apologize for the inconvenience.”

So no Fortnite meteor shower today, it seems!

In other Fortnite news, the game’s April Fool’s Day event was subtle yet fun, there’s a Boogie Down contest that rewards players with their own custom in-game emote, and a new Battle Royale vending machine item has been spotted.

Call of Duty: WWII The War Machine Gameplay Trailer

Activision has released our first look at Call of Duty: WWII’s second expansion, The War Machine! In this COD WW2 DLC 2 trailer, we see the multiplayer maps shown off, the new War mode skirmish, and of course, a new chapter in Nazi Zombies!

Tensions escalate in DLC Pack 2 for Call of Duty®: WWII — The War Machine. Join the Allies and stop the powerful Axis advance in three new Multiplayer maps that illustrate the might and global reach of the Axis War Machine. Strike back and take part in the Allied invasion of Sicily in Operation Husky, the all new objective-based War Mode mission. Plus, experience the latest Nazi Zombies chapter: The Shadowed Throne.

Egypt: For the first time in Call of Duty: WWII, we’re bringing players to the battlefields of Northern Africa and the Egyptia pyramids. Players fight in and around the ancient ruins at Giza with landmarks that you’re sure to recognize. The map features an interior temple in the center that heats up during intense Domination matches with more open exterior lanes to either side. There’s something for everyone, as all ranges and playstyles have a place to call home here.

Dunkirk: Players face off on the sands and beachfront boardwalk of the French sea-side city of Dunkirk. This map features a lage, open and dangerous beach area flanked by tight interiors through the buildings lining the beach-front. Sniping can be effective here, though aggressive running and gunning can also pay off, so keep sharp and watch your angles and surroundings to win the day.

V2: Welcome to V2 – a rocket development and test site located in rural Germany. V2 is a tight, ultra-fast paced map that neve lets up for a moment. The launch tower sits at the map center, providing a focal point and an opportunity to grab an elevated sightline on unsuspecting opponents. Short-to mid-range engagements are dominant here, with fast and furious gameplay throughout – don’t blink!

The War Machine will deploy this April 10 on the PS4 first, and will be available a month after on the Xbox One and PC.

Rocket League Half Flip – How to Master

Rocketing Your Way to Half Flip Mastery

While playing Rocket League, have you ever gone into full nitro mode only to overshoot your mark and have someone else wrestle ball control from you? Quite a frustrating scenario, isn’t it? In such instances, your only recourse is to be quick about your turnaround maneuver if you wish to gain lost momentum in the hopes of catching up to the ball. Otherwise, you can say bye-bye to ball control for the time being—not to mention risk getting scored on.

The most common ways to make a 180-degree turn are to execute drift turns or jump-180 combinations. While these usually enough to get the job done, they’re certainly not the quickest. And as you may very well know—every second counts in a game like Rocket League where everyone is jostling for position. Thankfully, there’s a quicker and more efficient way of turning around. Rocket Leaguers, I present the Half Flip! The Half Flip is the quickest and most effective move for players to employ when they need to turn around and hurriedly go in the opposite direction.

Today, I’ll break down and dissect the Half Flip to help you understand the science behind it.

The Basics: Getting a Solid Foundation for Your Half Flip

Without a solid foundation courtesy of the basics, you might as well forget about it. So, before you can even think of adding the Half Flip to your arsenal of moves, you’ll need to get some essential components down. There are three components to a Half Flip: The Dodge, The Cancel, and The Air Roll. We’ll get down to the nitty-gritty of these moves in a bit. Before you proceed, pick up your controller and make sure to master all three of these components.

Mastered them yet? Good! Now we can proceed.

The Culmination: Combining the Elements of the Half Flip

Now comes the fun part.

First off, you’ll need to be able to accurately execute a Backwards Dodge—a simple maneuver achieved by pulling back and double-tapping on your jump. Next, you’ll need to cancel out that flip. You’ll want to do this halfway through the move (ergo, your tires are facing the sky, and your roof is facing the ground) by pushing forward. Timing is crucial here. Many players make the mistake of canceling too early. This will only cancel the flip for a few seconds before the car tries to continue the flip. Lastly, you’ll need to execute the air roll. Once your vehicle is upside down, hold down the air roll button and turn your car either left or right to get it in an upright position.

That’s it! You’re now ready to execute the Half Flip. To get the timing of the Half Flip-down, practice the move on your own a couple of times until you feel comfortable enough that you have a good handle on the motion.

The Application: Putting What You Have Learned to Good Use

There’s a host of ways for players to gain an advantage on Rocket League—from Rocket League Crates to the mastery of tricks. The Half Flip is one such nifty trick. Although it may seem like a daunting and complicated trick, the truth is it’s merely a combination of a few simple moves done in the proper sequence. All that matters isthat you get the timing right, and you’re good to go. The Half Flip is a move that’s built around the Dodge. This gives it the distinct benefit of natural speed. Whenever you perform dodges—whether forwards, backward, or sideways—you instantly gain a sudden burst of momentum. This resultant speed is something you can take advantage of in your move. Now here’s a pleasant surprise for you: You can even add more speed to the Half Flip by utilizing your boost as you flip.

Most methods of turning around in Rocket League are just painfully inefficient, TBH. With the Half Flip, you can change direction in a flash while gaining sufficient momentum for your burner to take advantage of. So, keep these tips in mind. With a little practice and proper timing, you can utilize this nifty technique to zoom across the field and gain ball control whenever you choose.

Keep rolling and keep balling!

Shadow of War Loot Boxes and Premium Currency to be Permanently Removed

Shadow of War loot boxes and premium currency will soon be a thing of the past. On May 8, developer Monolith will be stopping the purchase of Gold. Then, on July 17, Gold, War Chests and the Market will be permanently removed. (Players who have Gold in their inventory will want to spend it before the July 17 deadline, as afterwards it will be converted into in-game items.)

Here’s the official announcement post, which confirms the removal of Gold, War Chests, and the Market from the game.

The core promise of the Nemesis System is the ability to build relationships with your personal allies and enemies in a dynamic open world. While purchasing Orcs in the Market is more immediate and provides additional player options, we have come to realize that providing this choice risked undermining the heart of our game, the Nemesis System. It allows you to miss out on the awesome player stories you would have otherwise created, and it compromises those same stories even if you don’t buy anything. Simply being aware that they are available for purchase reduces the immersion in the world and takes away from the challenge of building your personal army and your fortresses. In order to fully restore the core promise of the Nemesis System, we’ll be permanently removing Gold, War Chests and the Market from Shadow of War. This means the option to purchase Gold with real-world money and the ability to gain Orc Followers from War Chests will be removed. There will be a specific amount of time given for players to utilize their unused Gold. If players have unused Gold by the end of the time allotted to spend it, any remaining Gold will be converted to in-game items.

In addition to the removal of microtransactions, the developer will also be updating the final chapter of the campaign, with “new narrative elements and streamlined for a more cohesive experience.”

Additionally, we’ll be updating the Shadow Wars section of the campaign, where players defend their fortresses against Sauron’s repeated counter-attacks. This portion of the game will be improved with new narrative elements and streamlined for a more cohesive experience. For players who choose to continue with these on-going fortress defense missions, the Endless Siege update released last November will still be available. We’ll also be incorporating many other gameplay improvements that will be detailed in future build notes, including Nemesis System updates, new player skins, skill tree additions, gear system upgrades and progression updates, just to name a few that we’re excited about.

The removal of microtransactions can only be a good thing, right? Let us know your thoughts on this huge change in the comments below.

Hunt: Showdown Upcoming Patch Scheduled for Next Week and Will Help Performance

While Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown is still in Early Access, Crytek has been hard at work to optimize the game before it’s officially released. In an update on the game’s official site, Crytek announced that a new Hunt Showdown upcoming patch will focus on performance tweaks.

Set to come next week, which will come with the introduction of a test server running with “Performance Patch 1,” where players will be able to download and test the performance patch before it’s available to everyone.

Here are the key issues being addressed:

  • CPU optimizations (Hunt was CPU bound, which was a major limiting factor in many cases)
  • Reducing the overall memory footprint of the game
  • Addressing the stalls and stutters (during movement, ADS, and other in-game interactions)

According to Crytek, the “general smoothness and response of the game should increase and in many cases overall framerate should also increase” with the new patch’s roll out. Additionally, freezing issues that occurred when players were fighting in the Stillwater compound is being addressed.

More details regarding the performance patch and playtimes on the test server will be shared next week.

New Call of Duty: WWII Division “Grenadier” Leaked, Abilities and Info Revealed

If you’re a bit bummed out that the new Call of Duty: WWII expansion, The War Machine, won’t be introducing a new COD WW2 Divsion, then do we have good news for you! It seems there’s a new one incoming, and it’ll be called the “Grenadier.”

Details regarding the new COD WW2 Division class was unearthed via the game files, and while the name might be a placeholder for now, and there’s no official in-game description or assets tied to it, we do know the Division’s abilities (or at least the ones planned).

Scorestreak Buffs

This information is subject to change. The Grenadier Division does not seem to be complete at this time.

  • 4th Scorestreak Slot
  • Hardline
    • Modified Cost of Scorestreaks, assumed lower. Separate checks for Support and Assault Streaks.
    • Checks for Requisitions and Ordnance Basic Trainings, can’t stack?
  • Scorestreak Buffs
    • Fighter Pilot: Modified Speed, assumed slower.
    • Placeholders for Buffs to every other Scorestreak are present.

Rifle Grenade Launcher

Added in the Shamrock & Awe Patch is the Rifle Grenade Launcher. You can see the Statistics of this Weapon in my WWII Weapon Statistics Spreadsheet. Here’s an overview:

  • Impact Damage: 120
  • Damage: 25-110
  • Damage Radius: 256in
  • Ammo: 1, 2 in Reserve
  • Reload: Full 1.15s

Compared to the current Launchers, you can expect less 1-Hit Kills with the Rifle Grenade on full-health enemies, but a larger Damage Radius meaning more chance of a weakening an enemy.

Call of Duty YouTuber Xclusive Ace covers the rumored new Division pretty well in his video, too.

The tl;dr version is: the new Grenadier class will have a noob tube to whatever gun they’re allowed to wield, and the class will be centered around scorestreaks.

The game files also have a few more info regarding future COD WW2 Divisions!

Future Divisions

For a while now, there have been a set of Divisions in the source of the game, slowly but surely recieving updates, they are as follows:

  • DLC1: Resistance
  • DLC2: Grenadier
  • DLC3: Commando
  • DLC4: Scout
  • Extra: Artillery

Currently, there is no information regarding these Divisions. Yesterday, /u/iTrexX posted about a Scout Division. However, the assets shown do not seem to have any connection to the Scout Division, rather just sharing the same generic name.

Note that the info listed here are in no way verified. So don’t blame us if there’s no Grenadier class or it has a different set of abilities when it’s available.

Based on what you’ve read so far, are you a fan of the Grenadier Division? Will it translate to noob tubes galore? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Rainbow Six Siege Battle Royale Is a “F***ing Absurd” Idea, Says Community Developer

Rainbow Six Siege Battle Royale was one of many April Fool’s Day causing chaos and controversy on the web. A YouTube video by prolific-April-Fool’s-Day-pranker Prodigio Pete appeared to confirm the existence of a new battle royale mode, which would apparently be coming to Siege during September 2018. You can check out that video below:

This was, obviously(?), a joke. However, some unfortunate viewers took it seriously and started ranting and raving across social media. One disgruntled user tweeted to Ubisoft Community Developer Craig Robinson, who immediately shut the nonsense down, calling the idea of battle royale in Rainbow Six Siege “f***ing absurd.”

I think we can take that as confirmation that, at least for now, battle royale isn’t on the Ubisoft developers’ minds!

In other Rainbow Six Siege news, a recent update to the game’s ban system targets users of hate speech, Ubisoft has said that a campaign “can never exist,” and the Rainbow Six Siege loot boxes “will never” affect gameplay.

Report: Pokemon Go Lawsuit Costs Developer Over $1.5 Million

Pokemon Go lawsuit has reportedly been settled, with Niantic having to shell out over $1.5 million to compensate those affected by the failed “Pokemon Go Fest” event held in July of last year. An estimated 20,000 people showed up to Chicago’s Grant Park, with the hope of celebrating the wonders of catching Pokemon together. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, with connectivity issues and logistical problems making the event a total failure.

Attendees weren’t happy, ultimately resulting in a class action lawsuit. According to TechCrunch, the lawsuit has now been settled, with $1,575,000 being used to reimburse attendees’ travel, accommodation, and other costs.

Those looking to claim more than $107 in expenses will need to have receipts as proof.

In other Pokemon news, a Nintendo Switch game was apparently in the localization stage during February, new Hoenn creatures were recently added to the game, and the little pocket monsters managed to defeat Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the Japanese sales charts.

Fortnite Comet Spotted, Inspires Theories of Tilted Towers Destruction

Fortnite comet has been spotted soaring through the in-game sky. Many Battle Royale players have grown fascinated by the meteor, which has inspired theories about what it could mean. A number of users think that the comet is coming to take out Tilted Towers, the most popular landing area, and there’s some evidence to back this up.

A screenshot taken by Diam0ndLuke shows the comet glowing brightly in the sky:

In addition to the in-game image, Reddit user IronRectangle pulled a Fortnite comet asset image from PC version’s files:

Fortnite Comet

The comet is linked to Tilted Towers, as the rumbling it emits seems to include a secret message. When Morse code is applied to the rumbling sequence, the message “SOS D 5 418” is deciphered. “SOS” is the call for help, “D5” is where Tilted Towers is located on the map, and “418” could refer to April 2018.

Will Epic Games be taking out Tilted Towers with this comet? Or, is this all an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke? I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

In other Fortnite news, the game’s April Fool’s Day event was subtle yet fun, there’s a Boogie Down contest that rewards players with their own custom in-game emote, and a new Battle Royale vending machine item has been spotted.

PUBG Xbox Update 12 Expected Release Date Revealed, Miramar Testing “Going Well”

PUBG Xbox Update 12 should be submitted by the end of this week, according to PUBG Corp.’s Nico Bihary, if all goes to plan. This will mean players should be able to access Patch 12 between April 9 to April 12.

When asked if the PUBG Xbox Update 12 would include the Miramar map, which has been promised for an “early spring release,” Bihary responded by saying that the desert map is just in “internal testing at this point,” which is apparently “going well.” Therefore, it’s unlikely that the PUBG desert map will be added to the Xbox version with Update 12.

It seems that PUBG Xbox Update 13 may be the patch that finally adds the desert map for Xbox users. Update 12 will likely include more optimizations, bug fixes, and minor content additions.

In other PUBG news, the new Savage map will begin closed testing this week, the first PUBG Event Mode is under way and utilizes the flare gun, and weapon skins have now been added to the game.

Fortnite April Fool’s Day Event Is Subtle yet Fun

Epic Games has added some subtle, yet fun, Fortnite April Fool’s Day shenanigans to Battle Royale. Both Impulse Grenades and Boogie Bombs will cause players to hop up and down, in addition to their usual effects.

The souped-up Impulse Grenades and Boogie Bombs will only be around during April 1, and so shouldn’t cause any long-term balance problems.

The Fortnite Twitter account tweeted out a tease:

Other seasonal items include different Easter costumes, including a bunny, if you’re into that sort of thing. Check out the in-game store for the latest cosmetic unlocks.

In other Fortnite news, it has become the most watched and most streamed game on Twitch, the Flippin’ Sexy emote is driving players wild, and a future update will bridge the Battle Royale and Save the World controls.
