+ 14 other secret trophies

There’s screenshots of various armors and more right here! Be wary though, there’s potential spoilers in it. Overall, the Monster Hunter World Trophies seem to be pretty straightforward and doesn’t entail anyone doing anything ridiculous. Of course, there is the chance that one of the 14 hidden ones fall in that category, but usually those are story related.

Also of note, the sharer mentioned that there is no blood in the full game during combat and just “dust and rocks.” There’s no option to turn it on or off, as some people might have believed. Maybe Capcom doesn’t want the PETA going after them for showing animal/monster blood? Or maybe to lower the ESRB rating?

In other Monster Hunter World news, the beta has managed to amass over 10 million hours of playtime! Now that’s a lot of monsters slayed! There’s also not going to be any pay-to-win stuff in the game since the game’s producer isn’t a fan.

Call of Duty: WWII Emblem Gallery and Paint Jobs Set to Roll Out With Resistance Event

Possibly one of the biggest things that make every yearly Call of Duty title stand out from the first-person shooter pack is how much it allows players to customize and personalize their profiles. There’s gun camos, character skins, and even DIY (do it yourself) emblems, clan tags, and more.

These level of customization is the same in the most recent COD game, Call of Duty: WWII. While there’s a lot of customization options to be had in the game, one option that’s still missing are the paint jobs. Those not familiar with the tool, it allows gamers to be really creative in terms of gun design letting them put on almost conceivable on their guns.

Well, that’s about to change really soon! Over on Twitter, Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey responded to a fan asking when an emblem gallery and paint jobs will make its way to COD: WWII, and the answer is: next week!

For those not familiar with what Condrey is referring to, the first expansion pack titled the “Resistance” will be dropping next week, and it’ll kick off the “Resistance Event” that will roll out a new Division, weapons, items and lots more. It will start on January 23 and end on February 27.

This is definitely good news for those who want more personality in their characters and profiles.

In other COD: WWII news, you might want to check your inbox if you still don’t have the game, as Activision is said to be sending free digital codes to gamers.

Nintendo President Talks Labo Third-Party Support, Cardboard Tech Boosts Nintendo’s Value by $1.4 Billion

Love it or hate it, the Nintendo Labo has got the industry talking. Overall, the Labo’s reception and predicted success has seen Nintendo’s value boosted by $1.4 billion.

Speaking with Time, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime gave a short statement regarding third-party support for the Labo hardware (cardware?):

“While there’s nothing to announce today, certainly if we’re successful with Labo, it can create future opportunities.”

Keeping his comments pretty vague, Fils-Aime went on to explain the current goals of Labo, and where it could eventually go:

“Can [the Toy-Cons] be incorporated into other forms of gameplay? Certainly,” he said. “But right now we think if we effectively communicate the power of the idea with Nintendo Labo [and] really enable players to make their creations, personalize them, and enjoy the [inherent] gameplay experiences… We think that’s going to be a great way to start and then progress down the path.”

I guess Nintendo is waiting to see if Labo explodes in the same way that the Switch did.

Do you think the Nintendo Labo is going to be a big hit? Let us know.

In other Nintendo Switch news, take a look at the Labo reveal trailer here, read about how a German Ratings Board almost chucked the hardware away, and Payday 2 is coming to the console with timed-exclusive content.

Battlefront II AFK Players Workaround Helps Alleviate Heroes vs Villains Frustrations

If you’ve tried Star Wars Battlefront II‘s “Heroes vs. Villains” mode, chances are you’ll have seen characters spinning around in circles. The players controlling these characters are AFK (away from keyboard/controller), and are exploiting the game to receive easy participation Credits.

The popular tactic means AFK players are essentially ruining the game type, with developer DICE seemingly unable to stop them.

Thankfully, Reddit user viggstable has figured out a way to get AFK players kicked from the game:

Instead of waiting for the game to boot someone who is AFK, all that you need to do is wait in character selection screen for the person who is AFK to die.

As soon as they die select the character that they were playing as and viola.

Now that the AFK person is sent to character selection they will shortly be booted for not selecting a character. Dice fixed the issue of automatically selecting a character after 30 seconds in HVV. The only time character is auto selected is at beginning of a game.

This solution will work best on console versions of Battlefront II, as PC players can employ scripts to switch characters and randomly fire.

Good work, viggstable!

In other Battlefront II news, update 1.1 brings a host of improvements, the developers are “finally” able to start answering questions again, and the 2005 version got a graphics mod which gives the game updated visuals.

Report: Activision Sending Out Free Call of Duty: WWII Codes via Email

Who doesn’t want a free game, right? What if someone told you that a game company is giving away free digital codes of its biggest game of last year? Well, apparently, that seems to be the case for Call of Duty: WWII!

Over on the Xbox One subreddit, users are reporting that they’ve gotten an email stating that they got a free digital code of COD: WWII from Activision and it works!

Multiple people have chimed in that it works. However, over on the WWII subdreddit, another person called Activision support, and was told there’s no such promotion going on. Check out the chat log below.

There’s a few things to take away from this: first off, Activision Support doesn’t know every promotion, and marketing plan that Activision does, so they might be in the dark when it comes to this one. But on the other hand. it reeks of something too good to be true — especially when you consider that Activision has sold a ton of COD: WWII units! I mean, they don’t need to give it away since people are buying it.

We’ve reached out to Activision and will update the post if and when we get a response.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, don’t forget, the big “Resistance Event” will launch this coming week, and it’s set to bring a ton of new (and free) content. If you manage to get an email and redeem a code, let us know in the comments below.

Xbox Boss Talks First-Party Games, Says He Isn’t “Deaf to the Meme out There”

On the hardware side of things, Microsoft has been making waves with the Xbox One X, offering 4K content powered by the new most powerful console. On the software side of things, however, Xbox could use some help.

In an interview with VentureBeat, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that he was aware of how the lack of content for Xbox had become a “meme.” He also said that he’ll be working with the new corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, Matt Booty, to think “about our future content and how that growth happens in a thoughtful way, a way that delivers for [Xbox] fans.”

I’m not deaf to the meme out there regarding our content and our need to invest more. Definitely, we are at a point where we’re investing more and we’ll continue to do that. When I look at Matt and his responsibility with his team, it’s about charting our future in first-party content. I feel like with each one of the leaders we have, there’s an existing plan, and I feel good about that plan, but we know that the plan all-up for studios is expanding. Having Matt’s leadership there in navigating the expansion, what bets we make, the teams we bet on, the teams we create, is going to be critical.

Some of it is with the existing leaders we have there, and there are always opportunities to do more with the teams we have. But also, as we expand, having a leader in place so new investments can be driven and land in the strategy we have is going to be critical for me. That’s really where I look at Matt’s focus: both the existing franchises, and equally, if not a little more, thinking about our future content and how that growth happens in a thoughtful way, a way that delivers for our fans.

You can read the full (lengthy) interview here.

It’s going to be interesting to see where Phil Spencer and Matt Booty evolve the Xbox platform in 2018. Will we hear about more big games in development? I certainly hope so!

Developer Confirms State of Decay 2 Won’t Have Microtransactions, Only Paid DLC

A game’s subreddit can be a useful place for developers to hang out and see what the community really thinks of their work. Brutal honesty can result in hard, yet valuable, lessons in what to do and what to avoid. It might not be pretty, but it’s often worth listening, and (if you’re permitted) responding, to.

Over on the State of Decay 2 subreddit, one user had complained that Microsoft “is seeing how many microtransactions they can fit into the game without the community rioting.”

Undead Lab’s “Undead_Nicole” responded with: “I’ve stated multiple times that we aren’t going to have MTX, but we will have paid DLC.”

The developer was able to nip the argument in the bud, and received several positive responses, as well as those all-important upvotes.

So State of Decay 2 won’t be featuring microtransactions, and will just offer good ol’ paid DLCs.

Top Destiny YouTubers Lessen Their Support for the Game

Leading up to, and following the release of, the original Destiny game back in 2014, many small channels found themselves growing at an extraordinary rate. Those focusing on Bungie’s hotly-anticipated new IP found rapid success. There was a demand for videos highlighting Destiny information, speculating on new DLC content, and providing guides on how best to play the game.

The original Destiny was a title that required players to search outside of the game for deeper coverage of the story and lore, and to hunt down strategies for completing activities and understanding gameplay mechanics, which were otherwise poorly explained. The original Destiny was the perfect game for YouTube content creators, and while focusing on one title and pigeonholing yourself is usually seen as a bad idea, this game seemed like risk-free deal.

Of course, Activision and Bungie also loved the free/lightly-compensated marketing that these YouTubers provided. Advertisements that are (or at least come across as) honest and genuine are invaluable. It’s easy to poke fun at these “influencers,” but you shouldn’t underestimate their reach and ability to, well, influence.

Then Destiny 2 launched, and while it has scored high in reviews, a large portion of the hardcore player base (i.e. those still playing after 20+ hours) have now started to grow loud with complaints, expressing their disappointment with the game. Common targets are the microtransaction-heavy Eververse, which has managed to infect even free seasonal content, as well as the lack of communication from the developers.

Now even the YouTubers who made their names producing Destiny content are seeming to doubt the franchise, and are either showing a loss of interest in the game themselves, or are suggesting that their audiences no longer care.

In his weekly Destiny 2 Xur video, Datto (780,000 YouTube subscribers) said that “this might be one of the last Xur videos [he] does for a while,” and that his viewers can expect Fortnite and Overwatch content to go up over the weekend.

He also tweeted the following, regarding the new Destiny 2 Faction Rally event:

Gothalion, who has garnered over 800,000 Twitch followers and 300,000 YouTube subscribers, announced that he’ll be “separating his channel branding away from [Destiny] to promote future growth.”

Hey buds. Short and sweet here. I love Destiny. Always will. Always have. But its time to separate my channel branding away from that game to promote future growth.

Sub badges will no longer be ghosts as soon as my new logo badges are completed and bit badges will be something different soon(tm).

I love yall and thankyou for supporting a transition into more variety. Fortnite streams have been amazing. A lot of fun stuff on the horizon as well! Monster Hunter and Sea of Thieves is going to be a blast. Looking forward to it!

MoreConsole (840,000 YouTube subscribers) has a channel “dedicated to covering Destiny.” In a recent video he exclaimed, “Oh god, where do I begin? Can we not go a single week without Destiny 2 s***ing the bed?” He also noted the “poor communication from Bungie,” before calling the latest Faction Rally event “a mess.”

Whatever your opinion is of creators like these, you’ve got to agree that this severe reduction in community support will be a significant blow to Bungie and the franchise. These guys have opinions that matter to millions of people, and their influence works both ways.

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has revealed the dates for the next Iron Banner.

YouTuber Explains How to Combat Super Dash Abusers in Dragon Ball FighterZ

With Dragon Ball FighterZ set to launch on January 26, those thinking about picking up the 3v3 based fighter are doubling down on trying to absorb any information they can, in order to get the upper hand against everyone else on day one.

Among this information I personally think everyone should know when it comes to Dragon Ball FighterZ, is how to deal with those players who are trying to get ‘free’ hits with the Super Dash move. For those who don’t know what a Super Dash is in Dragon Ball FighterZ, its simple. It’s an aerial dash that tracks down your opponent, and if it hits them you are free follow up with a combo.

Though, that’s not all that the Super Dash move does. From my very brief time with the game, thanks to the open beta, or just watching general gameplay, it appears that this move is safe on block. For those who are new to fighting games, it means that even if you block the Super Dash it can’t be punished. This can be a big problem, as people can easily abuse this move for easy victories, or to simply set up some very damaging combos with minimal effort.

However, YouTuber “JmCrofts” shows us how to combat this rather annoying move in one of his recently uploaded videos. You can check out the informative video below:

Thankfully, it appears combating those who will abuse the Super Dash move is pretty easy, as it mostly requires reading your opponents or very quick reflexes. It shouldn’t take too long to learn it.

For more information regarding the mechanics of Dragon Ball FighterZ, you can check out our previous coverage where the auto vs manual combo system is explained.

Dragon Ball FighterZ lands on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms January 26.

Paladins Receives Two New Patches on Consoles

Being an avid Paladins player on the console myself, I honestly couldn’t remember the last time when the free-to-play hero-shooter received an update. Thankfully, as of today, the long drought of no updates for said game is over.

Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms receive the OB64 patch and OB 65 patch simultaneously.

For a quick rundown of what the patch contains, feel free to read on below:

OB 64 Patch

New Features:

  • Bound Playlist: A playlist that lets you relive the old card system to an extent.
  • New Vip Tiers: In appreciation to those who play Paladins frequently, or just simply accumulated a lot of Vip points since it’s inception will now get better rewards. Such as free radiant chest, skins, discounts in the Vip store and more. The higher tier of Vip you gained, the bigger these discounts and rewards will be

Bug Fixes:

  • Daily Quests – All known Daily Quest bugs have been fixed
  • Fixed an issue with Audio levels for Inara and Bomb King
  • Fixed an issue with Auto Item Purchase with Vivian
  • Fixed a visual issue with Vivian’s Sentinels
  • Fixed an issue with Grover’s Blossom not healing multiple Allies

OB 65 Patch

New Features:

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a condition where some players Daily Quest would no longer progress
  • Fixed some players getting two of the same Daily Quests
  • Fixed an audio issue with Shatterfall
  • Fixed an unintended side effect of healing when dying
  • Fixed a visual issue with Immovable Object values not match the description
  • Fixed Social menu not updating in real time (i.e. party and friend invites)
  • Time to open another Chest has been reduced.

Those who want to read all the details for this patch, can do so by following this link.

Aside from new patches going live today, the console player base for Paladins has something else to look forward to in the near future. According to the console community specialist for Paladins, HiRezJuJu, the developer has brought someone else in to help make the aim assist on some of the more difficult champions, like Ma’damba, a bit smoother.

In recent Paladins news, Hi-Rez Studio recently announced Paladins: Battleground, a battle royale game mode that’s set to be released sometime before April. You can catch footage of this upcoming game mode here.

YouPorn Says Overwatch Is Hurting Its Traffic

We all know Overwatch is big, right? Even its eSports scene is big, too. But did you know it’s big enough that it can even interfere in one of the most famous internet past times of all which is watching people do it?

YouPorn had some interesting stats to share when it came to their viewership and the Overwatch League. On the first day of the Overwatch League, where over 400K people watched,  YouPorn suffered a nine percent drop in viewers when the broadcast started, and it continued until the third match.

Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Does this mean a lot of Overwatch fans like watching porn? Maybe. If that’s the case, I won’t judge.

Speaking of gaming and porn, did you know that PlayStation 4 gamers are the ones who watch smut on their console the most? Food for thought when you borrow someone’s DualShock 4 next time you visit (bring the sanitizer).

In non-porn Overwatch news, check out some of the items headed to the shooter next week!

German Ratings Board Thought Nintendo Labo Was Trash (Literally)

The German ratings board, Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (Entertainment Software Self-Regulation), today revealed that it had accidentally thrown away the new Nintendo Labo cardboard peripheral, thinking it was trash.
