Call of Duty: WWII New Division, Weapons and More Set for Resistance Event Starting Next Week

While the first expansion pack for Call of Duty: WWII titled “Resistance” will be making its way out later this month, non-DLC buyers will have something to look forward to as well. Sledgehammer Games will be adding a new Division, a new weapon, new modes and more!

Called the “Resistance Event,” players can expect new gear to obtain in Supply Drops, double XP days, and lots more! The event will run from January 23 to February 27! Check out the trailer below.

For those curious, the new Division is called “Resistance,” and will be available to all players starting January 23. As you can see in the trailer, the Resistance Division will be able to use a pistol and knife combo, scramble nearby enemy mini-maps, gain an extra pistol attachment and more.

Those expecting weapons, there’s the Volkssturmgewehr assault rifle, the Orso SMG, a new knife melee weapon, and a new 9mm SAP pistol.

There’s also going to be new game modes introduced into the event as well, Demolition and Prop Hunt.

Demolition: Continuing with the Resistance theme, Demolition is a spin on Search & Destroy with respawns available. Faster-paced and more accessible, this classic favorite will return for two weeks during The Resistance.

Prop Hunt: This new fan-favorite game mode also makes its debut in Call of Duty: WWII, as players will have the opportunity to hide in plain site as objects, while the enemy team hunts them down.

Finally, players can expect a free Resistance Supply Drop every week during the Resistance Event, just by logging in!

That’s a lot of stuff, no? Don’t forget, Sledgehammer is also releasing a big patch that will include changes to the health regen, add a new Domination XL playlist and more.

Bungie Is Hiring a New Community Manager, Would Ideally Be a “Communications Expert”

A new community manager position is being advertised on Bungie’s “Careers” page. The job listing states that the “ideal candidate will be a community champion, communications expert, and able to dream big in order to shepherd ideas from concept to reality.”

One of the “required skills” is to be “an avid Destiny player, with knowledgeable and deep expertise in the franchise is a huge plus.”

Despite needing to play Destiny, the new hire won’t be replacing any existing Destiny community managers. Cozmo confirmed this on Reddit:

For those who can’t load/read the embedded Reddit comment, here’s the format-free version:

Neither of us are leaving. I know there is a lot of salt around here right now. We are busy trying to help the team improve things and don’t plan on giving up.

So we’ll be seeing another community managing aiding the existing bunch. Interesting!

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has revealed the dates for the next Faction Rally and Iron Banner.

Top Battlefield YouTuber Blames EA for “Manipulating the Media’s Voice” (Update)

Update:

Levelcap reached out to clarify that he’s been excluded from more than just the recent capture event. Find his tweet embedded below:

Original Story:

It’s no secret that EA works with top YouTube and Twitch creators to promote its games. These creators appeal to EA because of their large, trusting audiences. Working with EA appeals to the creators because they often get exclusive early access to games, which equals more views and ad revenue, and the potential for other compensation. However, it now looks like there’s a few cracks starting to show in this relationship.

LevelCapGaming has seven years of covering Battlefield titles under his belt, and has amassed over 1.8 million subscribers. His large audience and passion for the game had attracted the attention of EA, which led to him being invited to many events.

Up until now, the relationship between EA and LevelCap seemed like a happy one. However, after the YouTuber found himself without an invite to a recent Battlefield 1 DLC capture event, he took to Twitter and posted the following:

LevelCap blames EA for controlling the press, with “Battlefield manipulating the media’s voice by dis-inviting select YouTubers from early access DLC capture events.”

What do you make of this? Is EA controlling the press? Or is LevelCap overreacting? Let us know.

In case you missed it, here’s a look at what the Battlefield 1 Apocalypse expansion is adding to the game. A fair few YouTubers have early access footage of the maps and weapons, but Levelcap is clearly not one of them.

In other Battlefield 1 news, DICE has detailed “The Road Ahead” and offered players a free map to try out, all Operations are now accessible to all players with no Premium Pass requirement, and Battlepack Revision #74 is now live.

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has revealed the dates for the next Faction Rally and Iron Banner.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Loot Boxes Confirmed, but They Aren’t That Evil

Dragon Ball FighterZ is going to have loot boxes… Now, before you take up arms and prepare to go all Super Saiyan, let me quickly tell you that they aren’t all that evil.

So it has random loot drops, but players can’t pay to get ahead. Doesn’t sound too bad, right?

PUBG Update Lands on Test Server, Adjusts Blue Zone Damage and Travel Time

A new PUBG update is now available to download and install for the game’s Test Server. While a substantial 1.3 GB in size, the patch notes only detail changes to the Blue Zone.

The developer is fine-tuning the damage and travel time of the deadly zone, with changes that may come to live servers.

Here’s the list of changes:

Blue zone balance adjustment

  • Slightly decreased the waiting time of the blue zones in mid-to-late phase of a match
  • Slightly decreased the shrinking speed of the blue zones in mid-to-late phase (In this phase, blue zones will now move at a slower speed and the travel time of blue zones has slightly increased due to this change)
  • Slightly increased the damage per second of the last blue zone

In addition to the Blue Zone adjustments, the dev is also working on new ways to identify cheaters. A recent test found 100,000 instances of a new cheat, with offenders being immediately banned in a single wave.

We recently discovered a new pattern of cheats in action. This week, we performed a thorough gameplay data review of 10 million players and completed analysis of tens of millions of data logs. Through this exercise, we were able to identify over 100,000 instances of the new pattern related to use of cheat and now we have confirmed that it was clearly an attempt of compromising our game. These players will be permanently banned in a single wave. This is an example of additional measures we will be taking on top of the basic detection systems in place. We will continue to check the data logs like this even if it means the anti-cheat team has to filter through hundreds of billions of data logs manually. In addition, we are looking into adopting a new solution to detect and ban more cheaters and we have been continuously strengthening our security systems. We have also liaised with investigative authorities in some countries to take legal actions against developers and distributors of cheats. We are determined to take strong measures against them going forward.

There’s also an issue with the game’s Deathcam, Replay, and observing systems, which may cause players to appear as though they are using cheats, even if they aren’t. We’re told that this bug will be fixed as soon as possible.

The Blue Zone changes are the first step to “enhanc[ing] the combat experience in a match. The aim is to make combat encounters “more even and less chaotic.” Expect more changes to follow.

If you’re interested in the latest patch to hit live servers, click here.

In other PUBG news, Xbox has said that sales for the console version are “very big,” netcode analysis shows that the game has a big problem, and the Battle Royale Trainer is here to help players improve.

Activision CEO of Publishing Erich Hirshberg Stepping Down in March

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg will be stepping down this March after eight years of service in the company.

Hirshberg ran the publishing side of Activision (Destiny, Call of Duty), and reported directly to Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. Here’s what Hershberg had to say regarding his departure:

Serving as Activision’s CEO has been an honor and a thrill. This is an amazing company. One which routinely delivers epic experiences for our fans on a scale that no one else can. I have nothing but admiration for the incredible team I have had the privilege to lead. And I have nothing but appreciation for Bobby for giving me this transformational opportunity, and also for having the vision and conviction to champion a creative person for a leadership role on this scale.

For now, there’s no one set to replace Hirshberg’s spot, but Activision is actively conducting a search for the next CEO.

Hirshberg is ending his Activision career on a high note as both Destiny 2 and Call of Duty: WWII saw massive success commercially.

Will he end up somewhere in video games once more? If he does, we’ll let you know.

Congrats, Eric! Here’s to more shootbangs!

Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 Graphics Mod Gives the Game Updated Visuals

Remember when we posted that the 2005 Star Wars Battlefront 2 game was resurrected by Disney, and even patched to make it easier to find people to play online with? Well, a modder by the name of “Harrisonfog” has taken it one step further, and has made a Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 graphics mod to make it a whole lot prettier!

First off, don’t expect the game to suddenly look like DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront II. Think of this as more of a remaster of the current visuals, with the old maps given a new polish. Check out the video below.

The modder intends to make original, high quality maps once he’s done remastering all the current maps. You can download the “Reshade” mod right here, and it’s said to improve game lighting, sharpening the game image, normalizing color saturation, and lots more technical mumbo jumbo.

For the HD maps, you can get ’em here. As of today, the HD maps are Geonosis, Hoth, Tatooine, and Kamino.

Not bad, right? Let’s hope this is just the beginning of newfound support for the game.

Epic Games Slows Down Development of Paragon to Shift Focus on Fortnite

It’s no secret that Epic Games’ Fortnite has been a huge success; it’s gotten to the point that Epic thinks it might be the most played game in the Western world, even. However, all that success comes with a price, and that price is Paragon.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Paragon is a free-to-play MOBA (massive online battle arena), that was well received on both consoles and PC alike since its release in 2016. However, given Epic isn’t a massive studio, the developers can only allocate so much of their time.

Over on the Paragon subreddit, Epic has admitted that development on the game has been “slower” due to a number of reasons, and chief among them is Fortnite.

An Open Discussion On Where We’re At
byu/InUsWeTrust1 inparagon

Hey everyone,

We know you have a lot of questions about the future of Paragon. We care deeply about this community and we know this is important to you, so here’s a summary of where we are.

Going from Legacy to Monolith to a new card system and all of the changes in-between, our efforts have always been focused on growing the game. While each of these incarnations has been beloved by a core community, none has been large enough to achieve mainstream success. This, combined with the humbling success of Fortnite has caused us to question if we have a good path to grow Paragon and make it thrive.

Work on Paragon continues. V.45 ships this week with both Hero and Card balance as well as stability improvements.

However, progress has been slower lately for two reasons: First, the team’s time is split between immediate improvements and longer-term efforts, so there’s less visible progress. Second, a number of Paragon team members jumped onto Fortnite to help sustain the game as it has grown far larger than anything in Epic’s past.

Here inside Epic, we’re talking about the future of Paragon in pretty much the same terms as you’re talking about it. The core challenge is that, of new players who try Paragon, only a small number continue to play regularly after a month. Though Paragon has evolved, no iteration has yet achieved that magical combination of ingredients that make for a sustainable game. (As an aside, the problem isn’t marketing or how to make money with Paragon. We have good ideas that would solve those problems if we can find a way to make Paragon grow.)

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be figuring out if and how we can evolve Paragon to achieve growth and success, and trying some things internally. In the meantime, Paragon’s release cadence will be slower.

We welcome your thoughts on what we should do. Like you, the team is deeply passionate about Paragon. Like you, we would love to find a path that works. And like the community at large, we are not all in agreement on what could place Paragon on a fundamentally better path for all.

We will always be transparent with the community, and this is where we are right now. As we have more information, we will share it with you.

I’m honestly surprised Epic has been so forthcoming since their answer could gain a ton of backlash from the Paragon community.

If you’re a Paragon player, maybe just be a bit more patient. It’s not like Epic is abandoning it, and the studio does need feedback to know where they can take the game next.

Android 21 Rounds Out Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Cast

With just a few short days until Dragon Ball FighterZ is released to the public, everyone has been wondering who will be the final character to round out the playable roster at launch.

Well, it appears the answer has been under our nose the whole time. Android 21 has been revealed to join the playable roster with the likes of Hit, Beerus and franchise staples Goku and Vegeta.

If you’re a long-standing Dragon Ball fan and havent been keeping up with the game and wondering who Android 21 is. It appears she was created just for the game by the original Dragon Ball creator himself, Akira Toriyama.

Aside from being a creation from Toriyama himself, it seems that Android 21 has much going on than it originaly appears.Magazine scans from V-Jump have hit the internet showcasing her true self.

You can check the image provided below:

From the looks of the image, it seems that Android 21 is also from the same race as Maijin Boo, which makes this character even more interesting, as I honestly thought she was going to just be ‘another’ boring Android to be added to the Dragon Ball universe. Thankfully, I was completely wrong on that assumption.

Android 21 news aside, Dragon Ball fans have something else to look forward too, as Bandai Namco has announced that another open beta for Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to kick off very soon. You can check out the details of it here.

Dragon Ball FighterZ arrives January 26 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Battlefield 1 Apocalypse Maps, Weapons and More Revealed

While there’s a new Battlefield game set to shoot out later this year, Battlefield 1 isn’t done with us just yet! In February, the last expansion for the game titled “Apocalypse” will finally drop, and along with it, bring a host of new maps, weapons and more!

We already listed the Apocalypse weapons earlier today, but now we have the official stuff! EA has finally blown the lid off the upcoming expansion, and there’s lots to dig into.

Battlefield 1 Apocalypse Maps:

PASSCHENDAELE

Once the quiet countryside of Belgium, now a nightmarish landscape of blood and mud. Claw your way across the devastated landscape and huddle for cover in dugouts and tattered ruins.

CAPORETTO

Fight in mountain trenches near the Isonzo River as the Austro-Hungarians face off with the Italian army in an uphill climb.

RIVER SOMME

The scenic wheat fields by the Somme river transform into hell on earth from devastating artillery barrages.

There’s also a new game mode for people who like flying planes, that will come with two new maps.

RAZOR’S EDGE

Engage in frantic dogfights among snowy peaks, as British and German aces fight for control on this intense map.

LONDON CALLING

With your fellow knights of the sky, join the aerial clashes high above the British capital in the new Air Assault game mode.

For the weapons and equipment, DICE has mentioned that there will be new melee weapons like a meat cleaver, and ahandy prybar. As for the guns, expect new SMG, and five other weapons to round it out to six included in the expansion.

Not enough? The Assault class will be glad to know that there’s going to be an anti-air (AA) rocket gun set to be included! If you’re like me, and get annoyed at planes dominating the game, here’s your chance to take them out. Hopefully, they’ll be effective against Behemoths too.

Finally, two new aircrafts will be making its way, he Hansa Brandenburg GI and the Airco DH10!

Once we know the exact release date of Apocalypse, we’ll let everyone know.

New Call of Duty: WWII Playlist Update Adds Weapon Tweaks, Carentan Coming Back Next Week (Update)

Update:

As expected, Sledgehammer has listed the full playlist update notes! Check ’em out below (via Reddit):

WEAPON TUNING ADJUSTMENTS

FG 42

  • Recoil buff
  • Slight fire rate buff

Grease Gun

  • Recoil adjustment to give player more control
  • ADS transition time buff

Kar98k

  • ADS transition time nerf

Lee Enfield

  • ADS transition time buff

Combat Shotgun

  • Slight Max Damage range nerf, still overall buff to where it was at launch of game

Sawed-Off Shotgun

  • Max and Mid Damage range buff
  • Buff to number of pellets to kill
  • Reload time buff
  • Hip spread nerf

MAPS

  • Moved defensive start spawns in S&D on Sainte Marie du Mont
  • Moved CTF flag positions back on London Docks

Original Story:

We’ve reported it multiple times before, but it’s finally here! There’s a new Call of Duty: WWII playlist update that should include the new weapon tuning balances from Sledgehammer Games. Some of the tuned weapons in the playlist update should include: the FG 42, Grease Gun, Kar98k, Lee Enfield, Combat Shotgun, and the Sawed-Off Shotgun.

Check out Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey’s post on Reddit earlier today to know more about the planned changes.

Weapon tuning update coming today, Health Regen soon.
byu/Mcondrey inWWII

As mentioned previously, there is a lot coming in the weeks ahead. In fact, all added together, it’s the most ambitious update we’ll have put out in a single month of post-launch Call of Duty. New content, new ways to play, updates, fixes, surprises, and more… all just around the corner.https://www.reddit.com/r/WWII/comments/7phcxq/wwii_mp_january_preview/

Today, we’re rolling out a weapon tuning update ahead of the weekend, and the start of CWL Proleague Stage 1 on Jan 23. Weapon balance is one of the most important live changes we do, and today’s changes are intended to address some key balance issues. On the surface they are all small turns of the dial, yet we are excited to see how they address community feedback and internal design goals over the weekend. Tuned weapons today include the FG 42, Grease Gun, Kar98k, Lee Enfield, Combat Shotgun and the Sawed-Off Shotgun. Keep an eye out for an update on specific changes via SHG soon.

Also, as an update to yesterday’s post, we are closing in on a tuning change to increase the health regen speed. I think we’ll see those changes land early next week. But I reserve the right to be wrong on that date 🙂

In addition, we are talking about friendly shell shock and what changes, if any, we might want to make there. Active discussion, no conclusion yet. But we’ve heard your feedback and are chewing on it.

Finally, we loved seeing fan reaction to Winter Carentan over the Winter Siege event. It’s a super iconic Call of Duty MP map tracing back to its roots in Call of Duty 2. For Call of Duty WWII, it’s non-traditional flow brings a welcome pace change to the map rotation. Look for its return starting next week in all map playlists.

Happy Thursday, all. Feels like Christmas in January! – Condrey

The tl;dr version of it is: weapon tuning playlist update out today, Carentan map will be back next week across all game modes, health regen speed buff might come next week, and friendly shellshock is still being discussed internally.

According to Sledgehammer, the full weapon changes will be posted by the studio, so expect an update on this post soon.

Go test the new guns out and let us know how they feel, soldiers!

Bungie Explains Destiny 2 Faction Rewards Throttle, Says “It Will Be Adjusted in the Next Patch”

Implemented with the weekly reset, a new Destiny 2 Faction Rally event is live, encouraging players to pick a side and grind for exclusive rewards. Sadly, it turns out that these rewards are proving incredibly tough to get, with Bungie intentionally throttling the earn rate.

Over on the game’s forums, Bungie’s player support member “dmg04” has clarified how exactly rewards are being throttled:

With the release of Curse of Osiris, each Faction has received 5 new weapons. These weapons become available over the course of the season, and cannot be earned through Faction Engrams immediately.

In the first Faction Rally of Season 2 (this week), there is a new Auto Rifle available as the Winner’s Offering. No new Faction Weapons are available through Faction Engrams.

In the second Faction Rally of the season, the Winner’s Offering is updated to a new weapon. Additionally, the previous Winner’s offering (Auto Rifles) and an additional weapon are added to Faction Engram rewards.

The final Faction Rally of the season will follow this functionality: The Winners Offering will be updated to a final weapon that has yet to be featured. The previous Winner’s Offering will be added to the Faction Engram rewards, alongside an additional weapon. This brings the total to four weapons within the Faction Engram, and a final Winner’s Offering for factions to compete for over the course of the event.

This is on top of the Lost Sector throttle, which is a different thing entirely.

The main problem here, at least according to the more vocal members of the Destiny community, is that these changes aren’t made clear before the event goes live.

Game director Christopher Barrett agrees that changes should be detailed ahead of time, saying that Bungie will “strive to communicate any changes to rewards or experiences before they go live.”

Barrett also agreed that the Lost Sector throttle was too aggressive, and confirmed that it will be adjusted in the next patch.

Not a great start to this Faction Rally. Here’s hoping things improve!

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has revealed the dates for the next Faction Rally and Iron Banner.

Nintendo Reveals the Nintendo Labo “Interactive Build-and-Play Experiences”

When it was first revealed, many gamers doubted the Nintendo Switch. It went in a completely different direction to the competition, focusing on being a hybrid entertainment system. Despite this, the Switch has been hugely successful.

Now it’s time for another wacky (yet potentially super successful) Nintendo idea: the Nintendo Labo. This “new line of interactive build-and-play experiences” is basically just a bunch of cardboard creations, which take advantage of the Switch’s hardware.

For a clearer look at what Labo is, I’d recommend giving the following trailer a watch:

https://youtu.be/P3Bd3HUMkyU

Get ready to Make, Play and Discover with Nintendo Labo! Nintendo Labo is a new line of interactive build-and-play experiences that combine DIY creations with the magic of Nintendo Switch. Available on April 20, 2018!

Nintendo Labo will launch on April 20, with an MSRP that starts at $69.99.

Here’s an example of what you get in the $69.99 Toy-Con 01 Variety Kit:

  • Cardboard sheet x 28 (includes extra sheet for customization)
  • Reflective sticker sheet x 3
  • Sponge sheet x 3
  • String (orange) x 1
  • String (blue) x 1
  • Eyelet set (gray) x 1
  • Eyelet set (blue) x 1
  • Rubber band (large) x 2 + spares
  • Rubber band (small) x 6 + spares

It’s certainly a risky move from Nintendo, but I think that’s to be commended.

What do you make of the Nintendo Labo? Let us know.
