MW3’s Robert Bowling: “Spent an hour playing Battlefield 3… I loved it!”

Despite the heat between publishing giants Activision and Electronic Arts, game developers of Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 praise highly of each other.

Recently, at GamesCon 2011, MW3’s creative strategist, Robert “fourzerotwo” Bowling, sat down with Daniel “zh1nt0” Matros, community manager for BF3, at the Battlefield 3 booth and played roughly an hour of EA’s highly anticipated new shooter. While some fans may have been nervous about two opposing community giants aiming down sights at each other and strapping C4 to each other’s backs, it was all fun and games to Mr. Bowling and Mr. Matros.

A competitive yet friendly conversation on Twitter shortly ensued thereafter:

fourzerotwo Robert Bowling

GamesCom completed! Spent an hour playing @Battlefield 3 multiplayer with friends from DICE, I loved it! Also, Batman: Arkham City = amazing

zh1nt0 Daniel Matros

@fourzerotwo @battlefield was an awesome session! Got your tags. Stay safe Rob! COD is lucky to have you!

fourzerotwo Robert Bowling

@zh1nt0 I promise you, you will never get my fourzerotwo tags. That is a challenge my friend. Come for them and receive bullets in the face.

zh1nt0 Daniel Matros

@fourzerotwo bring it! and @locust9 , it was a lot of fun

We all know that competition in the FPS genre right now is extremely fierce, but it is nice to see game developers seeing through the political storm caused by publishers.

Good point. When the game comes out, we will settle this.” said Mr. Bowling. Bringing the conversation to a close.

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Explosives Do Less Damage

Robert Bowling, Modern Warfare 3’s Creative Strategist, has revealed that explosives in Modern warfare 3 have been rebalanced.

There are many frustrating aspects of Call of Duty multiplayer, but the fact that explosives being overpowered and exploited is the most frustrating, especially in Modern Warfare 2, and we all feared that this problem would carry over to Modern Warfare 3.

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling, aka FourZeroTwo, has clarified that

“In Multiplayer, it’s all about you and your gun, plus explosives have been lowered in damage and new anti-explosive equipment added.”

There you have it, finally Explosives will be nerfed. In Black Ops, I almost always use Flak Jacket to get around this problem.

Activision Addresses EA CEO “Rot from the core” Call of Duty comment

Activision’s Eric Hirshberg has addressed EA’s CEO, John Riccitiello, “rot from the core” comment.

Eic Hirshberg, speaking at Gamescom, responded to John Riccitielo’s “rot from the core” comment by stating

“We will not be spending time tearing down competitors; in fact, we’re pulling for them. I want as many games as possible to succeed, whether we created them or not. When someone does something great, it benefits us all. This isn’t politics. In order for one to win, the other does not have to lose. We shouldn’t be tearing each other apart; if we act like there are a finite number of gamers in the world, there will be. We will not be spending time tearing down competitors; in fact, we’re pulling for them.

A fair stance from Eric, thought one that EA should look into as guidance.

Introducing MP1st

When it comes to the future of online gaming, we here at MP1st see a lot of good things coming.

In our eyes, online gaming has become one of the most important forms of entertainment in the industry today. It’s hard to disagree when you see numbers like over 10 million subscriptions in 2008 to World of Warcraft; a massive-multiplayer-online-role-playing-game, or over $1 billion in worldwide revenue generated by Call of Duty: Black Ops; a predominately multiplayer game, or 4.5 million units of StarCraft II sold by the end of 2010; a game who’s online multiplayer tactics are a subject of study in some universities. But the simplest reasons why online gaming is so popular are perhaps the strongest. It’s fun, it’s engaging, and most importantly, it provides a sense of community for people of all ages around the world.

This is what MP1st is all about: community and the games that bring us together. We want to create a place where online gamers can view some of the best gaming content on the web, as well as get the latest news about the games they love. While we are especially excited about many of the first-person-shooter communities like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Counter-Strike, you can expect to see content from a wide variety of games. In fact, we want you to help us cover games you want to see by either posting comments in our articles, or by visiting our write for us page.

Though we’ve already seen some amazing leaps forward within the gaming industry, we feel we are just starting to see the true potential of what it has to offer. If you are as excited as us about the future of online gaming, you’re in the right place.

Rumored MW3 Killstreaks

Here are the Killstreaks that were featured in the trailer:

Sentry Gun (Looks more powerful than the ones in MW2 and Black Ops)

Predator Missile (Hopefully, this means there are no Valkyrie Rockets in MW 3)

Attack Dogs (with explosives)

Pave Low (It didn’t fire in the trailer, but on the map it had the same look.)

AC 130 (You can see it raining down hell at 1:11)

These are the ones that were in the trailer, but the multiplayer will have more killstreaks.

Killstreaks that will likely be back in MW3, but weren’t featured in the trailer:

UAV/Spy Plane

Counter UAV/Spy Plane

Airstrike/Mortar Team

Care Package

Attack Helicopter

Chopper Gunner
I liked the MW2 version of the Chopper better. If you liked Black Ops’ version, let me know why in the comments section.

It’s Official: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Explosives Do Less Damage.

PS3 gamers, get your Free Theme before the offer expires.
