Sucker Punch Confirms No New inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper Games in Development, inFAMOUS 2 UGC Servers to Be Moved

With Sucker Punch Productions establishing a new successful IP with Ghost of Tsushima, some might be wondering whether this meant that we’ll see the studio revisit their old franchises once again. Well, it seems that’s not happening anytime soon, as Suck Punch themselves have announced that no new inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games are in active development.

Here’s the announcement from the studio:

As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio. With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either. These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.

In addition to that, Sucker Punch has also announced that inFAMOUS 2 UGC (user-generated content) are being moved to different servers, though confirmed that they will eventually need to sunset these too. Also of note, Cole’s Legacy DLC for inFAMOUS Second Son, will be put back on the PlayStation Store for anyone who wants to snag (which didn’t have the chance before).

We know many people still play these games even today, so we’ll be performing maintenance on inFAMOUS 2 UGC servers soon to move them to a new home that will keep them up and running a bit longer. We will eventually need to sunset these, but want to keep them running for as long as possible for players who are still active.

We’re also working to put Cole’s Legacy DLC for inFAMOUS Second Son (which was previously only available as part of the Collector’s Edition) on PlayStation Store in all territories for anyone who missed it.

That’s a bummer to hear, but given how awesome Ghost of Tsushima turned out to be, we wouldn’t be shocked if the studio’s next game is a sequel to it. We gave the game a solid 9.5/10, and I said, “Rejoice, samurai warriors! Ghost of Tsushima lives up to the hype and even surpasses it. This is one Ghost you’ll want to see more of soon.”

The Criterion Dungeon content will feature two options of varying difficulties, each with their own unique set of rules and characteristics.

While FF14 players are waiting for patch 6.2, Square Enix will release update 6.18 next week on July 5! Players can expect the long-awaited Data Center Travel feature along with it, and it’ll also include a new logical center, Meteor, to the Japanese data center.

Patch 6.18 is set to launch on Tuesday, July 5, introducing the long-awaited Data Center Travel feature. This feature only allows for travel between logical data centers within the same physical data center. Travel between Japanese, North American, European, and Oceanian data centers will be unavailable.

Patch 6.18 will add a new logical data center, Meteor, to the Japanese data center, and certain existing Worlds will be redistributed within it. European regions will also see the first of two major expansions to the number of Worlds available, meaning a greater capacity for more players. In the EU region, four Worlds will be added in total, with two Worlds being added to each data center as listed below.

Same as always, once the patch for July 5 is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Bookmark our Final Fantasy 14 game hub to know when the patch is out.

Destiny 2 Upcoming Mid-Season Weapon Changes Outlined

While guardians are busy busting enemy heads in Season of the Haunted (Season 17), Bungie has revealed some of the Destiny 2 upcoming mid-season weapon changes planned. There’s no specific release date for the changes yet, but with Season of the Haunted set to end in August 23, 2022, players should expect it before then.

Destiny 2 Upcoming Mid-Season Weapon Changes:

Here’s what was shared by Bungie Senior Design Lead Chris Proctor:

Chris Proctor: G’day, Chris Proctor here. We’ve spent a lot of playtest time in Season 18, and decided to bring some of the changes into an earlier release.

We expect these changes to shift the PvP meta a little for the month or so before Season 18 launches, and we have another set of changes coming then (smaller of course since we moved some of them to Solstice).

TL; DR

Buffs
      • Airborne Effectiveness:
        • Improved baseline airborne accuracy and aim-assist for all Primary weapons.
        • Added a static airborne effectiveness buff to some existing perks.
        • Raised the base AE stat on several Exotic weapons.
      • Tuned up some underperforming Primary weapon subfamilies in PvP.
      • Increased pellet Shotgun damage in PvE.
      • Increased ammo per Special brick for Glaives, Forerunner and Eriana’s Vow in PvP.
      • Linear Fusion Rifles no longer receive increased flinch in PvE (will still receive increased flinch in PvP).
Nerfs
      • Tuned down some overperforming Exotics in PvP.

AIRBORNE EFFECTIVENESS (AE) ON PRIMARY WEAPONS

We were cautious about making weapons too easy to use while airborne at Season 17 launch, preferring to take some time to evaluate and then buff accordingly, rather than having to nerf. We’ve seen this play out in the game for several weeks now and are confident that we can safely, significantly decrease the airborne accuracy and aim-assist penalties on Primary weapons.
  • Reduced airborne penalties for all Primary weapons—these changes are roughly equivalent to increasing the base AE stat of Primary weapons by ~15 at low stat values
    • Reduced airborne accuracy penalty at low AE by 20%-40% dependent on weapon type.
      • Auto Rifle, Pulse Rifle, Scout Rifle, Submachine Gun – 40%.
      • Hand Cannon, Sidearm – 20%.
      • Bow – 30%.
    • Reduced airborne aim assist penalties for the above weapon types and changed the stat scale to provide more benefit to each point
      • Reduced airborne auto-aim (bullet bending, M+K and controller) penalty by 20%.
      • Reduced airborne magnetism (reticle stickiness, controller only) penalty by 40%.
  • Some perks now give a static AE stat buff in addition to their other effects.
    • Air Assault: +10 AE at all times in addition to +60 (for 70 AE total) when at low health.
    • Extended Mag: +10 AE.
    • Steady Rounds: +7 AE.
  • Raised the base AE stat on several Exotic weapons (listed in the Exotics section below).

WEAPON ARCHETYPES

Hand Cannons:
        • Precision (180 RPM) Hand Cannons have languished for quite a while, and we took some time to soften their time to kill in PvP. In playtesting we find this makes them a lot more competitive, particularly with their innate +25 bonus to AE.
        • Increased body shot damage from 37 to 40, crit moves from 57 to 60.
        • Can now kill in 2 crit 2 body against Guardians, kills in 1.33s in body shots.
Auto Rifles:
        • Precision (450 RPM) Auto Rifles have fallen behind other AR subfamilies, partly because they were more reliant on hitting a higher proportion of crits to reach their optimal time to kill.
        • Increased body shot damage from 19 to 20, precision multiplier moves from 1.6 to 1.5 (crit damage stays the same at 30).
Scout Rifles:
        • While we don’t want Scout Rifles to be too effective (we generally don’t want long range weapons to compete with short range weapons for ease of use or time to kill) there’s some room to make Scout Rifles a little better in PvP and add some Primary weapon competition to snipers at longer ranges, so we’ve adjusted two of the Scout Rifle subfamilies: Precision and High-Impact.
        • Precision (180 RPM).
          • Increased body damage from 34 to 38, crit moves from 54.4 to 60.8.
          • Can 2 crit 2 body against 197 HP (health + shields) or lower, kills in 1.33s in body shots against 190 HP or lower, 1.67s against higher resilience’s.
        • High Impact (150 RPM).
          • Increased body damage from 38.2 to 42, crit moves from 66.9 to 73.5.
          • Can 2 crit 1 body against 189 HP or lower, kills in 1.60s in body shots.
Shotguns:
        • Pellet Shotguns felt like they could use some love in PvE.
        • Increased pellet Shotgun PvE damage bonus from 10% to 25%.
Linear Fusion Rifles:
        • The flinch increase on Linear Fusion Rifles was fairly effective, but since it was global it hurt their usability in PvE—we’ve made a change that applies this increased flinch to damage coming only from players instead.
Glaives:
        • When scavenger mods were disabled in PvP, Glaives were no longer able to get enough ammo for a kill from a single brick, we’ve corrected that issue.
        • Increased ammo per Special brick from 1 to 2 in PvP.
        • Damage scalars on Trace Rifles (Killing Tally, Ager’s Scepter in Will Given Form mode), Eriana’s Vow and Fighting Lion were not functioning as intended—the fix for this will restore that functionality for most weapons, but an update to Fighting Lion will come later, currently planned for Season 18 launch (note that this issue may also have affected other weapons or perks).

EXOTICS

        • Lorentz Driver is still oppressive to play against, and we wanted to address this more thoroughly.
        • Reduced aim assist stat from 32 to 22.
        • Reduced suction against players.
          • Removed the universal 2x flinch nerf from the previous change, since we’ve changed flinch for all Linear Fusion Rifles (see above)—this change also applies to Arbalest.
      • Gjallarhorn is much too dominant as a Heavy weapon choice in PvP and Gambit, due to proximity detonation making it very easy to use, and Wolfpack Rounds finishing Guardians who should be far enough away to be safe.
        • Primary rocket no longer has proximity detonation.
        • Wolfpack Rounds now deal half-damage to players.
      • The Last Word has reached a usage level on controller where it warranted some adjustment—with this change it will be a little harder to land crits while hip-firing, and it will be less deadly at extended range.
        • Reduced hip fire precision aim angle by 50%.
        • Precision aim angle dictates how far off of the head you can be aimed and still have aim assist grant you a critical hit instead of a body shot.
        • Reduced damage and aim assist falloff distance by 3m.
      • Forerunner was getting 3 ammo per Special brick in PvP—technically enough for a kill, but this was unforgiving, we’ve bumped it up a little. At the same time, it was getting full ammo from a single Special brick in PvE, which gave it extremely high uptime.
        • Increased ammo per Special brick from 3 to 4 in PvP.
        • Reduced ammo per Special brick from max to ~16 in PvE.
      • Eriana’s Vow was getting 1 ammo per Special brick in PvP, not enough for a kill.
        • Increased ammo per Special brick from 1 to 2 in PvP.
      • We’re evaluating the airborne effectiveness stat on Exotic weapons, keeping in mind that they can’t equip the Icarus Grip mod, and decided to bump several up to be more competitive.
        • SUROS Regime from 23 to 31.
        • Whisper of the Worm from 9 to 20.
        • Monte Carlo from 21 to 29.
        • Forerunner from 22 to 27.
Per Bungie’s wording, we should expect this mid-season weapon tuning changes to be rolled out sometime in July. Once we know more, we’ll let our readers know about it. Speaking of changes and updates, don’t forget to check out the patch notes for hotfix 4.1.0.4 which was released this week.

Halo Infinite Co-Op Beta Kicks Off July 11, Here’s How to Get In

At long last, those who wished to play Halo Infinite’s campaign with a friend will finally be able to do so soo, but before that’s released in its entirety, 343 Industries is letting gamers test the Halo Infinite co-op first in beta phase, and it starts this July 11!

Over on the Halo Waypoint site, the studio ran a Q&A with the devs behind the philosphies of the campaign co-op, and there’s also a quick FAQ on how players will be able to take part in the beta. It’ll be open to those who own Halo Infinite’s campaign, or is an active member of Xbox Game Pass.

XBOX & STEAM PC NETWORK CO-OP FLIGHTING

We will be flighting this Campaign Network Co-Op and Mission Replay experience through the Halo Insider program from the week of July 11.

We’re looking for Spartans out there to help us put things through their paces in order to ensure that there are no big issues that make it through to the full release.

What are the team’s overall goals for the campaign Network Co-Op flight?

From a technical perspective, our main goal with this flight is to catch any networking issues that are specific to Campaign Co-Op.

What are the requirements and necessary steps for someone to participate in this upcoming flight?

It’s simple! Here’s a quick blurb, but keep an eye out for full instructions once the flight is officially underway.

Step 1: Make sure you’re signed up to the Halo Insider program.

Step 2: Ensure you have the entitlement to Halo Infinite (Campaign). (i.e. you have purchased it or have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription)

Step 3: If you’re participating on Xbox, have the Xbox Insider app downloaded, and opt into the Network Co-Op flight program once the flight is live. If you’re playing on Steam, you’ll be sent a unique key via Halo Insider communications to download the flighting build.

Step 4: Launch the build, party up with friends, and jump into Zeta Halo!

Will our progress from the retail game carry-over to the flight build? And vice versa—will anything we unlock or progress during the flight also apply to the retail version of the game?

No, progress will not carry over. The Network Co-Op flight is conducted on a separate build intended to test the features without affecting your existing retail copy of Halo Infinite.

What’s the best way to share feedback or report any issues encountered during the Co-Op flight?

We will, of course, be monitoring feedback that pops up online and on our forums, but any issues you run into should be reported on the Halo Support site.

For the rest of the Q&A, head on over here

Hopefully everything goes smoothly, so co-op for the campaign will be available for everyone soon.

Outriders Worldslayer Review – Trials of an Anomaly (PC)

With Outriders, People Can Fly made an anomaly; it was a looter shooter that wasn’t a live-service game like Destiny, The Division, etc. This is why, more than a year after its release, we’re now just getting its first (and possibly sole) expansion with Worldslayer. This new premium DLC brings a new story campaign, new gear, new endgame content and more into the fray. The big question now is: has it been worth the wait? Keep those anomaly powers in check and read on for our Outriders Worldslayer review.

Another Day, Another World Ending Threat

While not the most memorable of campaigns, I did enjoy what Outriders had to offer when it originally launched (read our review here). It was a fun new world that had some great world building behind it, even if it fell to some questionable dialogue, and cliché tropes. I had fun with it, enough to want to see where People Can Fly were heading with the series, wanting more, be that a sequel or in the form of DLC.

Again, I’m not saying the writing was all there, just that it was entertaining enough to keep me engaged and wanting to play more, and for the most part, Worldslayer shares that same feeling. It starts off right where the original ended, with the anomaly going completely berserk. What once gave you the power of a god is now a world ending threat, and it’s up to you to find a way to stop it before it’s all too late.

There’s not much else to that goal, simple enough, though that’s not to say that People Can Fly didn’t use it as an opportunity to introduce new characters, and bosses. I feel like they got creative with the bosses as well, even if the time spent interacting with them is very brief. And the new Altered baddie, Ereshkigal, who is described as the “first” Altered and wields an immense amount of power. I really dug their design, and although they’re massive bullet sponges (an issue I had with the base game,) the fights against them are rather enjoyable.

Sadly, as with them, and any of the other new characters introduced in this DLC, their screen times are pretty short. Perhaps that’s the fault of Outriders not being a live service game, and this DLC trying not to go the route of being a full priced experience, but as cool as each of the characters were in action, I don’t feel like we learned enough about them. At least enough to actually care, or be invested in.

The campaign is really short, four to five hours, maybe even less if you keep it on the lowest difficulty. Most of that time is spent traversing missions themselves, with the in-between broken up with drops of the story. I would have liked to learn more about the antagonist given their overall level of importance to the world itself. I don’t know, I definitely felt there was more to tell with this DLC, as it only got interesting right around the ending.

Plenty of Loot to Go With Your Overpowered Character

While I was left disappointed by the campaign, the one area that I thought Outriders excelled in was in its stellar combat. Even if it’s been months since I last played, the game still has some fantastic gunplay, with classes that all feel incredibly fun to play with. That same holds true in the Worldslayer DLC, which sees an expanded skill tree for every class. Now it’s not the biggest gamechanger, if I’m honest, some might find it a bit underwhelming, as it mostly focuses on enhancing certain existing abilities. I, and probably many others, would have much rather seen a new class, but still, being a Trickster main I did enjoy having the additional buffs and skills added to my character.

Outriders Update 1.20

However, what I love about this update and DLC is that it brings a slew of new unlockable gear. You can read a bit more on that in our Outriders Worldslayer gear breakdown post, but I just love how unique each set looks, as well as the weapons. Easily some of the best in the game thus far, and they’re all so fun to use. There is also something known as “Apocalypse Gear,” which is high-end gear that comes with two customizable mod slots and a third one that is predetermined. It may not seem like much at first, but those extra perks that come with the third slot can truly make a difference. I don’t have a full set yet myself, but the difference compared to my older build is quite noticeable. I think players will find that there are plenty of reasons to want to grind out for these sets.

The Trial of Tarya Gratar

One of the big complaints that many had with the original Outriders release was the rather “lacking” endgame it provided. Known as Expeditions, these endgame activities were basically rinse and repeat, with players undertaking long missions with nothing but hordes of enemies thrown at them. To add to that, they also felt unrewarding with its randomized loot. I recalled having runs where they’ve taken me a considerable amount of time, only to be rewarded gear that was barely an improvement over my current set. It wasn’t fun, at least for me, which was a shame because I really did enjoy playing the story with some friends.

With Worldslayer, People Can Fly is introducing a new endgame activity known as The Trial of Tarya Gratar. It works differently than Expeditions in that it’s set in a large arena/dungeon-like level (pre-determined, so not procedural generated) with different paths that players can freely choose to go on, and multiple stages to proceed through.

Sure, the core gameplay for the most part is the same, as in you’ll make your way through sections shooting endlessly at hordes of enemies, followed by a boss fight, but structurally it’s different. I would best compare it to an actual raid of sorts as it has a limited number of tries to be completed, with multiple tasks to undertake.

Mind you, it’s not Destiny-tier level of raiding where it involves all kinds of crazy puzzles and perfect coordination amongst teammates, but it does give you a bit of that exhilaration as you progress through the different subsections of the trail, and the difficulty continues to ramp up. It’s definitely an activity intended for three players rather than the solo experience, though I’m sure it can be beaten alone.

What I like about the trials, however, is how loot works in it. Unlike in the main Worldslayer campaign and base game, the Trial of Tarya Gratar offers areas known as Troves. These are high difficulty sections within the dungeon that reward players with designated gear. Up until this point, loot in Outriders was all based on RNG. If you wanted a stronger piece of equipment, or a different roll, there was no way to really achieve that outside of playing and praying that something you like would drop. These Troves change that, introducing loot farming to the game. If you wanted a better helmet, chest piece, or whatever, you could grind out a specific Trove that rewards that kind of drop. I know to some that may seem like a quick way to make the game feel repetitive (an issue on its own already,) but anyone who has played a looter type of game knows that designated loot is always worth that grind, which Worldslayer certainly seems to provide.

Verdict

Ultimately, if you were a fan of the original Outriders, then you’ll probably love what Worldslayer has to offer. It’s essentially more of the same, with an endgame that is undoubtedly better than what was offered in the base version. For me, I enjoyed what base Outriders had to offer so the DLC felt worthwhile to play through. But admittedly I know this isn’t going to win any new players, nor does it address much of the issues with the original. It’s fun, but you’ll likely be burnt out on it after the campaign and a few end game runs.

Pros:

  • Gameplay is still a highlight
  • The loot is well crafted, with farming spots included.
  • The Trial of Tarya Gratar felt challenging and close to a raid experience with the focus on co-op play rather than solo.
  • Expanded class trees, and new difficulty that grows challenging as you level it.

Cons:

  • Short campaign that doesn’t spend enough exploring its villian.
  • Although the Pax tree, and Ascendant perks were a nice addition, a new class would have definitely been preferred.

Outriders Worldslayer DLC provided by the publisher. Played o PC. You can read MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

Servers down
byu/Krissz0005 inhaloinfinite

Over on Downdetector, a spike can be seen happening today as well:

The official Halo Support Twitter account has not touched on the game’s server status woes, but hopefully, 343 Industries is aware of the situation and is working on it. The official Xbox Support Twitter account has also not acknowledged the downtime, which is odd given the number of reports.

We’re keeping a close eye on this and will update the post if 343 or Microsoft issues anything on their end regarding the server outage. Make sure to refresh this post from time to time, as we’ll have the latest update on the server situation throughout the day.

New Skate 4 Trailer Reaffirms Devs Are Still Working on It, Insider Playtesting Sign-Ups Now Live

EA has released a new teaser trailer for the new Skate 4 game, however, the trailer only shows a very early “pre-pre-pre alpha” build of the upcoming title, and basically confirms that the studio is still working hard on it.

The new video titled “Still Working On It” only shows off what the development team is working on and how far they are in the development cycle of the game. The video also shows off some of the game’s physics as well as a few animations, however, it definitely does not resemble how the final product is expected to look like.

The narrator in the video promises players more ways than ever to express themselves in-game, and that the team is building the new game based on players’ feedback. “We took what we know, what you told us, and started building,” says the narrator.

Finally, EA also invited all Skate fans to sign-up for the Skate Insider program. This will allow players to see what the dev team has been up to and will also give players the chance to play Skate 4 game early, help test it, and be a part of its development. For those interested in signing up, simply visit this link.

Details from the Skate Insider program:

As a skate. insider, you have the chance to play early versions of the game and provide feedback throughout our development journey. We need to scale access to skate. gradually as development progresses to ensure a smooth experience, and that means we can’t guarantee how soon you’ll get to play.

The skate. insider playtests will be CLOSED playtests for anyone selected to participate. Sharing any videos, captures, screenshots or streaming of anything in the game is prohibited. Please make sure to read the full terms and conditions before signing up.

Once Skate 4 has a firm release date, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it.
