Battlefield 2042 & Portal XP Farming Lobbies Run Wild, DICE Issues Changes to Combat It

In an effort to combat some early XP farming in Battlefield 2042, DICE has pushed out an all-new server update that is disabling and decreasing some XP earned in specific modes both in Battlefield 2042’s All-Out War mode, and in Battlefied Portal.

Today was the official start day for the Battlefield 2042 early access, and while the Battlefield 2042 servers have been rather rocky throughout the day, players who were have managed to get in with no issues may have noticed a recurring theme in the server browser for Battlefield Portal.

https://twitter.com/emfromthesea/status/1459267938511372291

With users being able to create their own lobbies and host them at will, there has been an unsurprisingly amount of increase in what many had feared — those being Battlefield 2042 XP farming lobbies. Well, it seems like DICE has gotten the picture, and in an effort to combat it (until a better solution arrives,) they have, for the, time disabled XP gains in custom Battlefield lobbies, while also decreasing the amount earned in solo/co-op in All-Out Warfare.

An understandable move by DICE, however that does remove an incentive in wanting to play on custom lobbies, especially for the ones that are legit, not trying to exploit the system for in order to farm XP in Battlefield 2042. Hopefully a better solution is implemented soon. As for server issues, they of course will continue to monitor the situation.

Battlefield 2042 is now available in early access for all platforms. The official, full release will be on Tuesday, November 16. Stay tuned later for our full review!

GTA: The Trilogy Pulled From PC Storefront Due to Glitches

Brace yourselves if you’re looking forward to revisiting the classic Grand Theft Auto games, as GTA: The Trilogy has been pulled from PC storefront due to glitches — dealing a hefty blow to the new remastered versions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

As seen and reported throughout social media, there have been parts of the game that have become glitchy and unbearable for some players to navigate through. One of the problems that went viral is in the remastered San Andreas, where the rain effect makes it very difficult to see where you’re going as shared by Twitter user Janky.

Rain has even appeared in areas of the game that are covered, but it doesn’t stop there. Other glitches are still being reported by a number of people who have bought and are currently playing the games. Most of these range from graphical bugs to frame rate drops — which some players have noticed is most evident in the Nintendo Switch port of the collection. That version as well as the PlayStation and Xbox releases are still available to purchase, but the PC port is now listed as unavailable in the Rockstar Games website.

Rockstar has yet to comment or address these problems as the game was just released. However dataminers seem to have unearthed the missing music tracks and dev notes of the game, and you can read about that right here.

TiGames “Satisfied” With FIST Forged in Shadow Torch Sales Performance

This past September, we saw the emergence of a new action-platform in FIST Forged in Shadow Torch, which was developed by China-based studio TiGames. While there’s no sales figures released just yet, the studio is “satisfied” with the game’s market performance.

Speaking to MP1st, TiGames CEO Tao Zhang confirmed this, and also touched upon the positive feedback they’ve gotten from gamers.

MP1st: How has the sales of FIST been so far? Is it what the studio is hoping it would be?

Zhang: We are satisfied with the market performance of F.I.S.T. and the positive comments from players and media all over the world. F.I.S.T. has just launched on Steam in October which could attract more players to access and experience the game.

This is definitely good news, as gamers buying new and original games (not just sequels) means that these studios can craft new adventures that would otherwise be untouched.

If you haven’t played it yet, FIST is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC, and our review can be read here where we were quite surprised at its quality.

Our full interview with TiGames is hitting the site soon, so stay tuned!

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week November 12, 2021

Destiny 2’s Trial of Osiris has undergone some major changes this season, and MP1st is here to bring the new Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards this week November 12, 2021 edition! Check out what you can win, and this week’s map pick!

For this week, Bungie is revisiting Trials Labs with Capture Zone! Here’s what the studio shared this week:

What’s New in Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris This Week?

This week we are revisiting Trials Labs with Capture Zone. A quick reminder, Capture Zone is still Elimination, with the following changes:
  • 30 seconds after the round starts, a capture zone is enabled. Players can capture this zone to win the round, or just eliminate the other team like normal.
  • The capture zone has a waypoint from round start, including a countdown timer, so everyone will know exactly when and where it will be.
  • The capture zone starts in the middle of the map in the first round and changes location each round.
We took feedback from the previous Capture Zone Lab, and made the following changes:
  • We are using a stronger Trials Map: Endless Vale.
  • Rather than rotating through points that give one team a significant location advantage, we are rotating through three neutral zones — one at Temple, one at Mid, and one at Shrine.
  • Players no longer get Super energy when capturing a zone, either before or after the round ends.
As we mentioned last week, card-based Matchmaking is on all weekend, with the Flawless Pool turning on Sunday morning at 10 AM. As with the previous two Labs, a 2x Trials Rank booster will be on all weekend.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week November 12:

Trials of Osiris Map

Endles Vale

Rewards

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes on every rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes on every rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: Reed’s Regret (Legendary Fusion Rifle) (Adept)

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the amount of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone flawless, keep playing! Every win on your still-flawless card will give you a chance at bonus, additional post-match drops of the Adept weapon for that week. Once you lose a game, you will no longer get these adept drops. However, still winning games at 7 wins even on a non-flawless can can drop bonus trials engrams, prisms, and even ascendant shards.

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passages

Name Perk Cost
Passage of Ferocity Your third match win grants a bonus win. 10000 Glimmer & 15 Legendary Shards
Passage of Mercy Forgives one loss per run. 10000 Glimmer & 15 Legendary Shards
Passage of Wealth Increased Trials Rank points from reaching 3, 5, and 7 match wins on a ticket. 15000 Glimmer & 25 Legendary Shards
Passage of Confidence Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest. 20000 Glimmer & 50 Legendary Shards

Report: GTA The Trilogy Missing Music Tracks & Dev Notes Datamined

If there is one thing that can be be complained about with GTA The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, it’s that its extensive track list is missing some of the bangers that previous players have come to know and love. That said, the recent Rockstar Games Launcher outage may have been a blessing in disguise, as it appears that the GTA The Trilogy missing music tracks plus additional developer notes have been datamined from the game’s PC version.

As noted by a dataminer on Twitter, it appears that most of the missing music tracks for GTA The Trilogy aren’t exactly ‘missing,’; rather, they are just disabled due to expired licenses.

So the audio format of choice for the Definitive Editions is OGG-VORBIS! More interesting however, San Andreas contains all the cut music! It’s just disabled by script!

GTA The Trilogy Missing Music Tracks

That same dataminer also pointed out that for GTA Vice City, almost all of the tracks are present, except for one notable one: ‘Billie Jean’ by Michael Jackson. Given the high-profile nature of the song and how much the licensing could potentially cost, this seems to be understandable that it was left out.

Vice City is a VERY interesting choice, the stations have been split up at key points to allow tracks to be dropped in or out denoted by track number, for example, ALL of Flash FM is here except for Track 03, Billie Jean. (yes even Running With the Night)
GTA The Trilogy Missing Music Tracks

In addition to the missing music tracks, several developer notes and uncompiled code were also uncovered, hinting at their thoughts on some of the more iconic missions of GTA The Trilogy.

Based on these datamine findings, it would appear that it’s only a matter of time before someone manages to reactivate the disabled music tracks in GTA The Trilogy, at least for PC. However, gamers on the platform still need to first have access to the game, though, as at the time of writing the Rockstar Games Launcher still has the trilogy disabled following several issues.

What do you think? Which missing music track do you want back in the game the most? Let us know in the comments below!

Thanks, Ash R. !

Destiny 2 Upcoming Weapon & Exotic Changes Detailed, Will Go Live on December 7

With the 30th Anniversary fast coming up, Bungie has released details on one of their biggest updates, as the Destiny 2 upcoming weapon and exotic changes were discussed in their latest weekly post. Head down below to see everything that will change in the next patch, so you can prepare yourself for possibly new meta weapons.

The bulk of the Destiny 2 weapon and exotic changes are geared towards buffing specifing archetypes while nerfing those that needed tons of attention (Vex Mythoclast, which is absolutely bonkers right now).

Destiny 2 Upcoming Weapon and Exotic Changes:

Archetypes

Shotguns – In Season 11 we wanted to see if slugs could be viable in PvE with a high enough reward for the risk of being close and the time it takes to aim at a head. Good news, they’re viable! However, they currently outclass pellet Shotguns and many other Special ammo options (not to mention being part of a dominant boss-melt tactic), we’d like to equalize this a bit. However, since pellet Shotguns are easier to use than slug Shotguns they don’t need as large a bump.
  • Reduced slug Shotgun PvE damage bonus from 30% to 20%.
  • Gave pellet Shotguns a 10% PvE damage bonus.
Linear Fusion Rifles – In Season 14 we bumped these up but believe that while their potential damage output competes numerically, and they’re extra hot right now because of the sweet Particle Deconstruction artifact mod, they can’t compete with the ease of use of other damage options. Last time they got a precision damage buff, this time it’s a flat damage buff.
  • Increased PvE damage by 10%.
Caster Swords – We shipped this with a high Heavy attack ammo cost to offset a great melee weapon that also has a good ranged attack, but now believe it’s safe to reduce the ammo cost.
  • Reduced Heavy attack ammo cost from 8 to 5.
Bows – In Season 11 we bumped Bow damage up 10% vs  rank-and-file enemies, having seen this in game for a few Seasons it seems safe to nudge them up again.
Increased damage vs rank-and-file enemies by ~10%.
Sidearms and Fusion Rifles – Due to an ancient data entry error, Sidearm and Fusion Rifle projectiles were non-hitscan. Behind the scenes, the engine does math converting a projectile from non-hitscan to hitscan if it would cover a specific distance in one frame, so this would only occur running at 60fps or higher – shoutout to a specific community that provided us with evidence on this issue, you know who you are.
  • Increased Sidearm and Fusion Rifle projectile speed from 999 to 9999 (which makes them hitscan regardless of framerate).

Exotics

Vex Mythoclast – Yeah we over buffed this, and while it’s kept in check by the peekshot potential of Hand Cannons etc., it’s definitely melting faces. In playtests we feel it’s still strong enough to be desirable, without feeling free.
  • Reduced Aim Assist stat by 25.
  • Reduced the Linear Fusion Rifle mode Aim Assist Cone scalar from 1.1 to 1.05.
  • Now requires 3 eliminations for full Overcharge instead of 2.
Fighting Lion – This wasn’t a specific problem, but given increasing frustration with breech Grenade Launchers in Crucible, it seemed like a misstep to say “we hear you” and “here’s an infinite ammo version of that thing you’re frustrated about” in the same patch. It should be clear to everyone that a full nerf isn’t needed, so we’re adjusting it. (Note: This is not a full rollback — there’s still a difference between “almost infinite ammo” and “actually infinite ammo” in how weapons are used, and in playtests where we tried to abuse infinite ammo, it was extraordinarily oppressive, much more so than we expected given that it had a ton of ammo previously.)
  • Removed the multi-hit requirement
      • I.e., dealing any damage will grant the buff.
  • Increased the buff to the reload stat from +50 to +70.
      • I.e., reload will still be slow if you miss, but if you land any damage, Fighting Lion will reload faster than it did before the nerf.
  • Increased the buff duration to 7s.
Arbalest – We always wanted this to have utility in high difficulty PvE, but its lack of Champion mods prevented that, and it’s all about shield breaking already, so we’re fixing that.
  • Now has intrinsic anti-barrier.
Sleeper Simulant – The delta between Sleeper and the best Legendary Linear Fusion Rifle wasn’t large enough to make this a compelling option, so while it benefits from the 10% damage buff above (really, this time), we’ve given it some additional love.
  • Increased magazine size from 3 to 4, increased PvE damage by 6%.
Suros Regime – Dual Mode Receiver always made Suros a worse 360 RPM auto rifle but fixing that is a straightforward stat bump. This may not make this mode dominant, but at least makes it do what was intended: turn it into a high-impact Auto Rifle.
  • Dual Mode Receiver mode now grants the following in addition to its current effects: +30 range, +3 zoom.
Cryosthesia 77K – Given the state of Stasis in PvP at the start of Season 14, we deliberately shipped this weapon in a weak state (which almost physically hurt us, but was the right decision), not wanting to contribute to the problem. Now that we’ve had more time to evaluate the state of the sandbox, we’ve reworked this Exotic to address its weakness in PvE. Specifically, the following pain point: Fire on release with the charge trigger, losing all ammo on firing the freezing shot.
  • Removed Variable Trigger completely. Now fires on trigger press instead of release (this will make it feel much more responsive).
  • Charged Shot moved to special reload. Getting a final blow with the Sidearm enables access to the special reload.
  • Once the Charged Shot is fired, the weapon reverts back to standard Sidearm mode.
      • This does NOT cost your entire magazine.
  • Charged Shot now causes an AOE which freezes AI and slows players (direct hits still freeze).
Leviathan’s Breath – This Bow is underused, so we wanted to give it a bump, while also making its catalyst more interesting (expect this type of catalyst tweak to become more common moving forward).
  • The catalyst now grants the Archer’s Tempo perk in addition to its other effects.
Whisper of the Worm – The original DPS king has fallen out of favor, with the delay before the damage buff kicking in making the weapon less usable in short damage phases, and optimal sustained damage requiring all critical hits but not sufficiently rewarding precision.
  • Reduced delay on activating Whispered Breathing from the catalyst from 2.1s to 1.2s.
  • White Nail magazine refill changed. Was 3 from inventory but now pulls 2 from inventory and 1 from thin air.
  • Increased damage in PvE by 10%.
D.A.R.C.I. – This Sniper Rifle’s damage has fallen behind as other options have been buffed, and its damage is dependent on crits, while also requiring 100% time on target, so we’ve improved its ease of use and bumped the damage up.
  • Reduced flinch, recoil, and accuracy degradation by 50% while Personal Assistant is active.
  • Personal Assistant now has a 1s delay before deactivating when off target (was instant).
  • Increase damage in PvE by 20%.
Malfeasance – For a weapon all about explosions, this Hand Cannon’s explosions were a bit underwhelming.
  • Increased explosion damage by 50%.
Dead Man’s Tale – We’ve seen this Scout Rifle’s usage drop dramatically on console since the recent nerf.So we spent some time tuning it in a way that benefits controller much more than mouse and keyboard (i.e. we don’t believe this buff will improve the weapon much on mouse and keyboard), specifically touching hip fire with the catalyst.
  • Note: This isn’t actually branching the tuning between input devices, but the bits we touched are either only present or are much more impactful on controller:
      • Increased reticle friction falloff distance (no effect on mouse and keyboard).
      • Less recoil (reduced effect on mouse and keyboard).
      • Improved accuracy (reduced effect on mouse and keyboard).
Heir Apparent Catalyst – There was a data error in the Heir Apparent catalyst resulting in it granting too much damage resistance against players, this has now been corrected. No effect in PvE.
  • Reduced damage resistance against players from 75% to 25%.
Lorentz Driver – The bonus ability energy feels extraneous when the damage buff is so strong, and we’re limiting certain weapon sources of ability energy.
  • Removed ability energy regeneration on picking up a telemetry.
Traveler’s Chosen – The ability energy granted from the perk was on a curve that isn’t intuitively understood. Similar to Lorentz Driver, it seemed appropriate to adjust this in PvP. These changes aren’t noticeable in PvE.
  • Now grants 10% ability energy per stack on activation (was previously more generous on low stacks, less generous on high stacks, the average and amount for 10 stacks are unchanged).
  • Reduced stacks granted on a Guardian defeat from 3 to 2.

In addition to general weapon and exotic changes, Bungie also turned their focus towards specific perks and mods:

Adrenaline Junkie – This perk wasn’t performing as well as intended, and the path of least resistance was making it live up to its dev name (grenadebuckler).
  • Eliminations with the weapon can add single damage stacks or extend existing ones.
  • Grenade eliminations boost the stacks immediately to x5.
  • Lowered the duration to compensate for weapon activation.
Vorpal Weapon – A perk that grants 15% bonus damage against all targets I’m going to use my Heavy weapon on? This was a non-choice and sucked the air out of the room for other damage perks. At the same time, it was failing its original role: giving players a reason to run a primary weapon against tough targets.
  • Was 15% damage on all weapons.
  • Now 10% on heavy weapons, 15% on special, 20% on primary.
  • No change to damage vs players in Super.
Whirlwind Blade – This was too obviously the best Sword damage perk around, so while we’re fine with it being good at sustained damage, we’ve pulled it back for shorter fights.
  • Increased number of stacks needed to hit maximum damage from 5 to 10.
Pulse Monitor – What if instead of activating on what feels like a fail state, this activated on a state you’ll be in in almost every encounter, even if you’re winning?
  • Changed threshold for activation from 90% health to 30% shield (i.e., this now requires much less damage to trigger).

Mods

Quick Access Sling – The usage on this mod is very telling — it’s extensively used on Bows and breech Grenade Launchers, and barely used at all on other weapons. At the same time, we’ve pulled down some options players had for improving their swap speed, and wanted to make an option available for building towards that on all Legendary weapons.
We’ll be watching how this feels in the wild and may revisit it later.
  • Functionality changed:
      • Was: +100 handling, 0.9 * ready/stow/aim down sights time for 0.4s after running out of ammo.
      • Now: 0.9 * ready/stow time all the time.
  • This change also applies to the Swap Mag perk, as they use the same perk behind the scenes.
Full Auto Retrofit – We’ve seen plenty of requests for an accessibility option allowing full auto fire, particularly on fast-firing semiautomatic weapons. We have a settings option in the works for a season after The Witch Queen launches but decided to put in a stopgap to help players until we are able to ship it. Please keep these types of suggestions coming!
  • Added a Full Auto Retrofit weapon mod that enables full auto while the trigger is held, usable on Legendary Hand Cannons, Sidearms, Scout Rifles and Pulse Rifles.
  • This is unlocked by default for all players.

Bungie also noted that they are still working on a way to curb the special ammo economy in PVP, as it is currently more than players are comfortable with. Exotic catalysts are also getting attention, as they are mostly being used for Orb generation rather than making them more exotic and special.

What do you think? Are these overall weapon and Exotic changes good for Destiny 2 as the game heads to The Witch Queen? Let us know in the comments below!

PS5 Celebrates Its First Birthday Today, Top Ten Most Played Games Revealed

Sony and their playerbase are in a celebratory mood today, as the PS5 console officially celebrates its first birthday this November 12. With this historic day, President and CEO Jim Ryan shared some interesting data on the console, specifically with regards to what gamers are playing the most on the PlayStation 5.

In a post on PlayStation Blog, Jim Ryan provided an overview on the console one year on, specifically with regards to future game and hardware announcements, as well as studio acquisitions for the PlayStation brand:

Incredible games such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, and Deathloop launched. SIE acquired the talented development studios Bluepoint Games, Firesprite, Housemarque, and Nixxes. We revealed our next-generation VR system for PS5. And most recently, we’ve unveiled new footage and exciting updates for upcoming titles such as God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon Forbidden West all from PlayStation Studios, and announced Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake during our September showcase.

However, the most notable standout is the reveal of the top ten most played games on the PS5 in its first year. Looking at the list, it’s hard to be surprised to see which games still sit at the top:

  • Fortnite
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • FIFA 21
  • NBA 2K21
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Destiny 2
  • MLB The Show 21
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Demon’s Souls
  • NBA 2K22

Epic Games is still on a roll with regards to Fortnite, and Call of Duty’s last iteration, Black Ops Cold War, followed suit. In terms of exclusives, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales sits at number eight, followed by Demon’s Souls at number nine. NBA 2K’s latest release, 2K22, sits dead last, but this is due to the fact that it released near the PS5’s first birthday; the last iteration, 2K21, sits comfortably at number four.

What do you think? Are any of the games you play on the top of PS5’s most played list for its first birthday? Let us know in the comments below!

Elden Ring Intro Theme Pays Homage to Demon’s Souls – Listen to It Here

If you’re a long-time FromSoftware fan, it looks like the developers have snuck in some Easter eggs from their past games into the upcoming action-RPG, Elden Ring. With Elden Ring entering a closed network test, FromSoftware fans will hear a familiar melody greet them on the title screen, and it’s none other than the theme from Demon’s Souls!

We’ve captured both themes and spliced them into one video, which you can hear about below. Note that due to YouTube compression, you’ll want to listen closely, but the melody and beats are the same.

Chances are, this won’t be the only Easter egg from past FromSoftware games hidden in Elden Ring, and we can’t wait to dig more up!

For those not familiar with Demon’s Souls, it’s an action-RPG released back in 2009 as a PS3-exclusive. Since then, a remaster was released last year exclusively for the PS5. Speaking of which, you can read our review of the remake here where we gave it a perfect 10 score.

Elden Ring arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this February 25, 2022. You can watch 15 minutes of gameplay right here to see how it plays.

Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man Trailer for “With Great Power” DLC Swings Out

Prepare to swing as your favorite webhead at the end of this month, as Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man trailer has been released, and it showcases the wallcrawler in action fighting bad guys and joining forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! The DLC coming to PlayStation gamers is titled “With Great Power,” and is out this November 30 as a free download.

Here’s the trailer reveal coming exclusively from the folks at Crystal Dynamics.

Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man Trailer:

Announced as an exclusive character coming to the PS4 and PS5 shortly after the release of the game, Spider-Man’s inclusion has been long awaited by fans — however the developers released to no updates following the announcement and said they would reveal the wallcrawler when they were ready. Finally after over a year since the game’s release, Peter Parker and his alter ego are finally joining the rest of heroes in a new hero event called “With Great Power” that is named after the infamous words and greatest lesson the wallcrawler learned from his Uncle Ben. It remains to be seen how exactly the story of that DLC event plays out — but it’s a safe bet Spidey will be called to deal with a situation that will require him to team up with the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Now that the trailer reveal has happened, expect more information for Spider-Man’s inclusion in Marvel’s Avengers to drop as we build towards the DLC’s release on November 30. The devs have mentioned that Spidey’s outfits in the game will be featured tomorrow, Friday.

Report: Call of Duty: Vanguard May Feature Indiana Jones and Captain America

If you’re looking for some heroic icons to play as in the CoD universe you might be in for a treat, as Call of Duty: Vanguard may feature Indiana Jones and Captain America according to some dataminers who claim to have found files that hint at their appearance in the game.

As reported by VGC and shared by Twitter user ModenasHD, there are game files that feature the portraits of Cap and Indy — which fit the mold and setting of the second World War and these heroes battling the evil Nazi forces of Hitler. Given how prevalent crossovers are with the Call of Duty franchise, don’t be surprised to see both characters show up as Operator skins for both Vanguard and Warzone.

As characters from Marvel and LucasFilm who are both owned by Disney, seeing Captain America and Indiana Jones in a CoD game is definitely a dream for fans but hardly the first time that different icons and properties have crossed over with the Activision first person shooter franchise. A few months back, 80’s action hero icons John Rambo and John McClane from Die Hard were added as crossover characters, and even Judge Dredd made an appearance during a Black Ops Cold War and Warzone event the past month. The possibilities are endless, and it’s just a matter of time whether or not this supposed leak of Cap and Indy appearing in Vanguard will be proven true or not.
