Marvel’s Avengers Custom HARM Rooms Incoming, Trailer Leaked

While the next major Marvel’s Avengers title update will bring in the Future Imperfect questline for Hawkeye, it looks like Crystal Dynamics has more stuff planned for those who want to just pummel enemies, as there seems to be Marvel’s Avengers custom HARM rooms incoming!

Accidentally posted by the official Intel YouTube channel (now pulled), it features customizable HARM (which stands for Holographic Augmented Reality Machine) rooms that players can fill with their chosen enemy types, add hazards, buffs and more if they want to. In short: if you wanted to just smash enemies in one area with friends, you can do so. Check out the video (snagged by TheRogueSaiyan before it got pulled) below to see a ton of enemies in one one place!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpPkuAdv9lk&feature=youtu.be

While the video mentions PC, it has been confirmed to be coming to consoles too. Over on the official Marvel’s Avengers Discord channel, Community Manager Andy Wong confirmed that it’s coming to consoles, too!

No release date has been announced so far, but given the Future Imperfect title update is due out on March 18, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was one of the new stuff included in it. Don’t forget, the next-gen versions of the game are out on that same day, though don’t expect the promised ray tracing feature to be part of it.

At the very least, those playing Marvel’s Avengers will be able to play co-op soon and just go to town with as many bots as they want.

Ark Survival Evolved Update 2.50 March 1 Released, Reverts Visual Enhancements

While Studio Wildcard has released an update for Ark Survival Evolved last week that brought in gameplay fixes, the studio has today released the Ark Survival Evolved update 2.50 March 1 patch, and it seems to be exclusive to the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.

Unfortunately, this patch seems to have reverted the visual enhancements rolled out by the devs, though it’s for a good cause, as the studio has cited crashes and perfromance issues due to it.

Ark Survival Evolved Update 2.50 March 1 Patch Notes:

Current Version: v559.2 – 02/01/2021

  • Reverted visual enhancements made for PS5/PS4 as they were causing stability issues (game would crash) and some performance dips in some cases. We’ll be looking to re-implement these visual enhancements in the future once we’ve resolved the stability and performance problems.

Note that this seems to be for the PlayStation versions only, as the Xbox versions still have this as the last changelog:

Current Version: v809.3 – 02/23/2021

  • Can no longer ride unconscious Stego
  • Fixed various map issues related to volumes and borders
  • Ziplines will now check to see whether a character can actually fit into a space before allowing them to attach to the zipline
  • Genesis Chronicles IV (Notes 16 – 20 have been added with the TEK Federation Gloves cosmetic)

That seens to be it. If we spot any other gameplay-related changes or fixes, we’ll update the post.

Forever Entertainment Signs Deal With Square Enix to Create Multiple Game Remakes

Looks like we can expect some classic Japanese video game properties to be remade for the next generation, as Forever Entertainment has announced that they have signed a deal with Square Enix to create multiple game remakes of their IPs — which could include some classic JRPGs and may be made in a similar way to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

While it hasn’t been revealed what exactly these multiple game remakes are, the company has promised to announce the project when the worldwide marketing campaign goes into effect, The games will contain new visuals and graphical enhancements, but will retain the same kind of gameplay and mechanics that have made them beloved by fans. Forever Entertainment already has previous experience with making remakes of classic properties — specifically the Panzer Dragon: Remake that was released last year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC, and they’ll also be releasing Panzer Dragon Zwei: Remake in 2021. With those in the company’s resume, Square Enix has the confidence and motivation to allow them to make remakes based on their properties for them.

With the deal, Forever Entertainment will receive 50 percent of sales for each copy of the future remake that’s sold through the consoles it is released in. We’ll just have to wait and see what those games are when details are released.

Speaking of Square Enix and remakes, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is getting a PS5 release with FF7R Intergrade this coming June.

Criterion, DICE LA Working on Battlefield 6, as Next Need for Speed Game Is Pushed Back

Remember when we reported that it was confirmed that DICE LA was working on a Battlefield game? As it turns out, that Battlefield game is none other than DICE Sweden’s Battlefield 6 (unofficial title)! This was revealed by EA today, where it also divulged that Criterion has also been tasked to support this year’s Battlefield game, with the planned Need for Speed title pushed back a year.

This bit of news was confirmed today by Laura Miele, EA’s Chief Studios Officer, who also pointed out that neither franchise (Battlefield, Need for Speed) is in trouble, and that this was mostly due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, and how the acquisition of Codemasters meant that the publisher already has one racing game due out this year.

Miele comments that DICE is a bit “fatigued” from working from home, and how they are “playing to win” with this year’s Battlefield game.

[Battlefield] is shaping up great, the team has been working incredibly hard, they pushed hard last year, and yes, we have been working from home. And it’s hard; it’s hard to make games from home, and the [EA DICE] team is fatigued a bit.

We have a great game and some incredible potential with this game.. We’re playing to win; we’re playing to put a great Battlefield game out in the market. – Laura Miele, EA Chief Studios Officer

EA has yet to formally announce this year’s Battlefield game, though it’s set for reveal this spring.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends Ranger Gameplay Showcases Abilities and Play Style

Sumo Digital has released our latest look at Hood: Outlaws & Legends, and this time, we are given an in-depth look at the Ranger class! This is the first in a series of videos showcasing each of the four playable classes available at launch. Check out the Hood: Outlaws & Legends Ranger gameplay showcase below.

Snipe and scout from the shadows

The Ranger represents a twist on the most well-known figure of the folk hero legend: Robin Hood. Specialised in taking down foes from a distance, the Ranger is a master of the longbow. From covering key areas of the map to pulling off game-winning headshots, the Ranger can turn the tides of battle with deadly efficiency.

Carrying out the perfect heist can require pulling off every trick in the book. Shoot down climbing ropes to allow your teammates to scale castle walls, use your unique gear to blind foes in a flash, use your special ability to tag enemies longer and help your team spot State soldiers and opposing players, or fire off special explosive arrows to unleash destruction in a wide area.

More info from the press release:

A master of the longbow, the Ranger specializes in scouting key areas of the map from the shadows and sniping foes from a distance with game-winning headshots. Carrying out the perfect heist often means using every trick in the book: deploy ropes to help your team scale castle walls, tag or blind enemies to create opportunities, and rain down explosive arrows to unleash total destruction in a wide area. In a game where cooperation is key, the stealthy Ranger is just one strategy as you work with your team to plan and execute your victory.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends will be released this May 10, though those who pre-order the game can exclusive early access on May 7, and will also get the “Forest Lords” pack for free, which features unique outfits and weapon skins for your characters.

The PvPvE heist game will rob players on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Elder Ring Trailer Leaks Online, Here’s a Snippet of It (Update)

Remember Elden Ring? The From Software-developed title in cooperation with Game of Thrones scribe George R.R. Marin that was announced back in 2019? Well, it’s still alive apparently, and there’s a leaked Elden Ring trailer that’s making the rounds too!

While we haven’t gotten our hands on the entire thing (and we doubt we can share it even if we did), there are snippets of it circulating online! Watch ’em below before they get taken down!

Update:

Here’s more leaked footage of the trailer! Mind that yes it is really bad quality.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ8kk0I3tkU&feature=emb_title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ8kk0I3tkU&feature=emb_title

https://twitter.com/Shpeshal_Ed/status/1366391585403904002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1366391585403904002%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-15680474973846276477.ampproject.net%2F2101300534005%2Fframe.html

According to VGC who has seen the clip, it’s labeled as “Bandai Namco confidential,” and shows a fair bit of off-screen footage of what appears to be a planned gameplay trailer from the devs. The gameplay shown shows a montage of familiar Souls-like melee combat, boss battles against a dragon, and more.

The leaked Eldern Ring trailer also has a bit of narration as well, with the narrator stating, “I can only imagine what drives you to seek the Elden Ring…I suppose you can’t be talked into turning back. Very well then!” Sadly, no release date can be gleamed from the trailer, and according to VGC, the game has been delayed several times internally due to the disruption caused by the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

Chances are, with this leak, Bandai Namco will officially release the trailer to stem the leak and such. We’ll report on more news as it develops for this highly anticipated title.

Report: DOOM Eternal Makes Over $450 Million in Revenue in First 9 Months of Release

In March last year, Bethesda announced that DOOM Eternal managed to break franchise sales records, as it doubled the launch revenue of DOOM (2016), and even swiftly broke the franchise record for opening weekend sales as well. Thanks to a developer from id Software, it looks like we can now put a dollar value to those records.

According former id Software Monetization Designer/Prodcut Management Lead David Saunders (now with Gearbox), DOOM Eternal managed to rake in over $450 million in revenue in the game’s first nine months of release! This was posted on the dev’s LinkedIn profile, which was pulled. Thankfully, we have a screenshot which you can see below:

Mind, DOOM Eternal didn’t even feature loot boxes, card packs (like in sports games) or other similar gimmick which makes this even more impressive. Who’d have thought releasing an awesome game and supporting it properly would work, no?

DOOM Eternal was released back in March last year, and was so great that it managed to break into our Best Games of 2020 list.

Congrats, id Software and Bethesda! Let’s hope the next entry in the franchise is available for everyone to play, and not just on Xbox platforms.

Thanks, Reddit, Timur222!

Hitman 3 Update 1.03 March 1 Fired Out

While IO Interactive released the big Hitman 3 update last week for the game’s February update, the studio has today released the Hitman 3 update 1.03 March 1 patch, and this is solely for the PS4, and it’s for a specific fix.

Hitman 3 Update 1.03 March 1 Patch Notes:

Here’s IO Interactive’s announcement for the new patch:

Attention PS4 Players: We’ve released a hotfix for PS4 to fix a PSVR related crash issue. You will see a small update. It fixes this issue.

If we spot any other gameplay-related changes not included in the changelog above, we’ll update the post.

For those who haven’t played the game yet, go read our review right here where we state:

Hitman 3 is a fantastic addition and culmination of the World of Assassination trilogy that offers plenty to do and see within the framework IOI has established. While the last map left me underwhelmed, the rest off plenty of value and make it well worth the price of admission.

Stay tuned for the Hitman 3 March roadmap which should be revealed soon by the developers.

People Can Fly Not Thinking About Outriders Microtransactions & Battle Pass, Wants to Go “Old School”

If you’ve tried the Outriders demo that’s out now, chances are you’ve seen how ripe the game is for microtransactions, Battle Passes and the like given how much the game focuses on weapons, gear and more. In a rather strange twist, the developers (People Can Fly) don’t even have Outriders microtransactions (or a Battle Pass) planned — at least for now.

In a phone call roundtable interview with the gaming press last week (which was conducted in different sessions), the developers were asked why there are no microtransactions in the game or if there are plans to put in a Battle Pass or something similar. Lead Game Designer Piotr Nowakowski answered that the studio wants to go “old school.”

There are no microtransactions within Outriders. What was the choice to decide to go that way versus maybe putting in a Battle Pass or something similar?

Piotr Nowakowski: Well, I will say we decided to go the old school approach where we were just doing the game and giving it to the players, not thinking about the microtransactions, game passes and things like that. At some point, it was easier for us to think about our game that way. Just delivering the whole product. We are calling that the old-school approach. We are aware that most games right now approach that differently but we believe players will like that approach. Of course, it doesn’t close for us the option in the future to just add content but not like a microtransaction or game passes, more like the bigger components that can come if players will be interested want to go deeper into our world, play in that world. We love what we have created and Enoch is the world that we want to build on and add additional elements for that, but not as a form of microtransactions or game passes. It’s just a different mindset when we think about the game.

This is definitely surprising news, especially given how the industry is now. That said, we can’t say for certain that no microtransactions will be implemented in the game at all, though, just that there’s nothing connected to it for now. If it does make it into the game, let’s hope it’s not predatory and is fair to gamers who bought the game.

In other Outriders news, People Can Fly has shared that the endgame content can be beaten solo, which is perfect for those who don’t have an entire party to squad up with.

Stay tuned to our Outriders demo hands-in impressions and full interview hitting the site soon.

Thanks, WCCFTech!

The Medium Review – Spiritually Hooked

Horror games are a dime a dozen these days, and it has a sub genre all its own. There are horror games that rely on jump scares, some that are more survival horror in nature, and so on. Bloober Team has released The Medium, a horror game that has less in common with today’s horror games, though you can see the inspiration of some games (and TV shows) in it. The question is: Is this a spirit worth conjuring or better to be left among the dead? Read on for our The Medium review.

Stranger Things Have Happened

Voiced by Kelly Burke, you play as Marianne, a spirit medium who possesses supernatural abilities — a gift, or perhaps a curse since she was young, Marianne’s abilities allows her to see the world as two different realities; that of the living and that belonging to the unfortunate souls who refuse to move on. One day, while mourning of the recent loss of her foster father, Marianne receives a mysterious phone call from a man named Thomas, promising to explain why she has these abilities along with answers to questions she has long for. And thus, her journey to an abandoned worker resort begins, only as we know, it isn’t quite as abandoned as we thought.

Though despite what many may think, The Medium isn’t exactly your normal run-of-the-mill horror game, but instead one that see’s itself dive deeper into the phycological side of things. With just one jump scare, I never once found myself ever being “scared,” in the common sense that my heart was quenching with fear, but rather terrified by character’s performances and how disturbing and twisted the world of The Medium became as I ventured through.

There’s a big draw for the game when it comes to its narration presentation, with the character playing as “detective” trying to get answers as to why things are happening, with the world throwing everything it can at them. This includes a tormented winged monster (The Maw) that is brought to life by none other than Troy Baker (most known as Joel from The Last of Us). I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sad, yet equally terrifying of a monster that’s crying in pain while threatening that it wants to wear me as a skin coat.

Then there’s Kelly Burke’s role as Marianne, which comes off as just as powerful at portraying her emotional range. I’d say all the characters are well acted, never one feeling out of place or phoned in and facial animations as with movements captured with motion capture really does show.

Of course these characters are only as strong as the writing itself, and while complex at time, the story of The Medium is one not to miss. The Medium does an excellent job at setting itself up as a detective mystery style of game. With the world being linear, Bloober wasted no space by cramming every bit of detail, all hidden with pieces of story throughout. Rarely do I find myself playing a game with the intention of wanting to collect every object, but because The Medium offered additional side story that wrapped into the main one, there was plenty of incentive to do so. With over eight hours clocked into the campaign, nothing felt rushed or unneeded, with my only disappointment being that it had come to an end.

Big Ambitions Masterfully Executed

Walking into the grim abandoned resort of Niwa, it’s easy to get caught in the beautiful atmospheric loneliness. The post-communism of Poland shows with it’s streets plagued of depression and environments devoured of all life from a bygone era. Yet despite that, I couldn’t help but feel an eerie presences lurking everywhere I traversed. As it turned out, there really was, and oh, was it ever so disturbing.

The Medium Review Screenshot

Touted as Bloober Team’s most ambitious game yet, The Medium gives players a taste of what it’s like to simultaneously play two levels, presented in what the team calls “dual-reality gameplay.” It’s a very cool idea if we say so ourselves, one that is clearly the highlight of The Medium, as it is masterfully executed.

While we searched around the abandoned resort for clues to solving a long haunting dream, happening alongside our venture was a twisted, warped alternative reality created from the living flesh and hardened bones of tormented souls. Akin to Stranger Thing’s Upside Down dimension, only more horrific because the monsters in this universe want to wear your skin for their overgrown bodies rather than turn you into mush (let’s be honest, we don’t want either). Truly the vision of a nightmare brought to life, yet one embalmed in such a beautiful artistic direction.

I’ve stopped many times during my playthrough just to adore the visual spectacle in The Medium. Details literally bleed from the walls, and variation in the lighting really helps bring the feeling of the scene to life. It honestly is one of the best looking games on Xbox Series X|S at the moment, one that makes a strong case of giving that next-gen feel.

The Medium Review Screen 3

This split reality isn’t just for show either, as core gameplay is centered around it. This being somewhat of a detective game, you’ll find yourself exploring linear areas, searching for clues that tell a bigger story. While yes, one could say its mostly a walking simulator with little to no beef in terms of actual combat, the change in playstyle (compared to other games) is certainly a nice one.

There are puzzles to keep the interest, some of which really make use of the dual-reality gameplay quiet nicely. An example of this is where in one reality the player is locked out from progression and requires the other to clear a path, either by opening doors or kickstarting electricity to panels. In some instances you could even have an out of body experiences where you solely control what’s happening in one reality, versus both.

Admittedly these were pretty easy with really the first one giving us a head scratcher due to learning the mechanics. Could there have been more and challenging ones? Definitely, but at least they kept the over all pace flowing. If there is a big detractor though in the dual-reality gameplay, then it has to be the general performance.

While graphically The Medium is stunning, there were some persistence issues, most notably with the way frames-per-second (fps) is displayed. While locked at 30fps on the Series X, there appears to be frame-rate pacing issues causing movements to appear jittery as if the frame-rate was dropping. A rather jarring experience overall, though one that the studio has promised to improve in future updates.

Picture quality also has noticeable. While I’m not one to notice these drops in more action base games, because the Medium uses a fixed camera it is avertedly noticeable due to scenes remaining still. Artifacting is also very common, which at first had me very concerned thinking my GPU was dying in my newly purchase Xbox. Thankfully that wasn’t the case as I consulted with a few other reviewers on the issue to see that they too were experiencing it. Still, not very eye appealing.

It All Ends in Me

Honestly, The Medium is one of those games that I wish I could re-experience again for the first time as it has vibes similar to Alan Wake, and even more so to Netflix’s Stranger Things TV show. If you’re a fan of those two things, then no doubt The Medium will be right up your alley as the writing is captivating, as much as the world itself. Performance issues aside, The Medium is definitely a title worth playing, one that hopefully see’s a future filled with sequels.

SCORE: 8.5/10

Pros:

  • Visually stunning.
  • Excellent voice performance from all the cast.
  • Gripping story.
  • Evenly paced, plenty of lore.
  • Dual-reality is no gimmick!

Cons:

  • FPS pacing and graphical artifact issues take away from the overall experience.

Evil Controllers Boss States Why They Think Sony Didn’t Include PS5 Controller Back Buttons by Default

During the PS4 and Xbox One era, controllers with paddles and back buttons such as the Xbox Elite controller have  become increasingly more popular that even Sony released a back button attachment for the DualShock 4, even if we were near the generation’s end, and transitioning to next-gen.

Given how popular back buttons and paddles have been for multiplayer games, some gamers (such as this guy) assumed that one of the new features of the next-gen controllers would be back buttons available by default. While I get why Microsoft didn’t do it (given the Xbox One controllers can be used for Xbox Series X, if they did that, the Elite would be kinda pointless), I assumed Sony would include it out of the box.

In an interview with custom controller maker Evil Controllers CEO Adam Coe, we asked him why he thinks Sony didn’t add paddles or back buttons to the DualSense right out of the box.

Q: Why do you think Sony didn’t add paddles or back buttons to the DualSense by default? Is it to protect third-party controller makers?

Adam Coe: I believe additional inputs were not added to the controller because not all gamers prefer a competitively designed controller. With a lot of casual gamers out there, I think it’s best to provide a platform that works for everyone and can be further enhanced for competitive gaming.

Coe might have a point, as making the DualSense feature back buttons by default might have driven the overall cost for the controller (and the console itself) a bit higher, which Sony doesn’t want to do. Of course, there is the high probability that Sony will want to sell a DualSense back button attachment in the future, which means more revenue for the company.

Are you hoping that future revisions (if there’s any) of the DualSense feature back buttons? Do you think the PS6 will feature this by default or is this too niche to even be considered a priorty?

Destiny 2 Upcoming Update Hotfix 3.1.0.2 Set for This Coming Week, Here Are Some of the Changes (Update)

While Bungie just released a patch this past week for Destiny 2, it seems the studio has already one up lined for next week too! The Destiny 2 upcoming update hotfix 3.1.0.2 is set to go live on March 2 during the game’s maintenance period.

This was announced by Bungie in its latest weekly roundup where it also mentioned that The Witch Queen expansion has been delayed “early 2022,” how drop rates in Gambit are being tweaked and loads more.

Below is a sneak peek at some of the changes incoming according to Bungie. Note that this isn’t the full patch notes, as we’ll have that once the patch is out.

UPDATE (3/2/21):

Bungie has released the patch today, and here’s the full patch notes list!

Destiny 2 Upcoming Update Hotfix 3.1.0.2 Changes:

HOTFIX 3.1.0.2
Next Tuesday, March 2, Hotfix 3.1.0.2 will be released. Here is a timeline of events:
  • March 2, 8 AM PST (1600 UTC): Destiny 2 maintenance for Hotfix 3.1.0.2 begins.
  • March 2, 8:45 AM PST (1645 UTC): Players are removed from activities and won’t be able to log back into Destiny 2 until 9 AM PST when Hotfix 3.1.0.2 is available.
  • March 2, 9 AM PST (1700 UTC): Destiny 2 Hotfix 3.1.0.2 is rolled out across all platforms and regions. Players can log back into Destiny 2 at this time. Ongoing maintenance is expected to conclude at 10 AM PST.
  • March 2, 10 AM PST (1800 UTC): Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude.
Below are some issues that will be resolved with Hotfix 3.1.0.2. A complete list will be shared when the update goes live.
  • Barrier Colossus in Battleground: Behemoth will no longer mosey out of their barrier shields to say hello to unsuspecting Guardians.
  • The Chosen Destruction Umbral Focusing Lens will now allow players to focus Umbral Engrams.
  • Beneficial modifiers in the Battlegrounds playlist now work as intended.
PRESAGE COMPLETIONS
To ensure progress is recorded for “The Voice on the Other Side” quest for Dead Man’s Tale, players should make sure that they have the quest in their inventory prior to starting Presage. If the quest was originally acquired on another character, players will need to reacquire the quest on their current character from the Quest Archive at the Tower.
Upon completing Presage, players will need to pick up Dead Man’s Tale and wait for the mission complete end timer to appear prior to returning to orbit. Failing to pick up the weapon or leaving before the mission completes will result in progress not being recorded for the quest.
MISLABELLED EXOTIC ORNAMENTS
Earlier this week, a refund was sent out to players affected by the mislabeled Exotic ornaments in Eververse. Players who qualified for the refund received a message on login and had the Silver from their ornament purchase added back to their account.

We are continuing to investigate the issue causing some players to not receive their Bright Dust rewards from completing the Weekly Challenges for Gambit, Crucible, and Vanguard. Players affected by this issue will be granted the Bright Dust they should have earned in a future update.

The known issues that have been reported to Bungie are also listed below, though there’s no guarantee that they are part of the Destiny 2 upcoming update 3.1.0.2 hotfix.

KNOWN ISSUES
  • The Trash the Thresher Triumph is not properly recording destroyed Threshers in The Arms Dealer Nightfall: The Ordeal.
  • The Scanner and Operator augments in the Deep Stone Crypt are the same color in Tritanopia colorblind mode.
  • Trying to equip the Mindvault ornament for Insurmountable Skullfort may result in a “Requires Mod Item” error.
  • The portal to the Ascendant Realm in The Corrupted strike after the Ogre encounter may close if a player is too far ahead of the rest of their fireteam.
  • The door to the Spider Tank encounter of the Hollowed Lair strike may not open for players.
  • The Lost Sector puzzles for the Xenophage Exotic quest may not correctly record player inputs.
  • Players may earn the “I Am Invincible” medal when the opposing team actually completed the requirements.
  • Players who complete the Xenology quest from Xur while already having an Exotic Cipher in their inventory will have the quest removed with no reward.
  • There are no Champions in the Master Presage mission because Scorn Champions don’t exist.
  • Players who kill the boss in the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike and then die may see a “Darkness” screen and will respawn at the beginning of the strike, which can’t be restarted.
  • As a result of this, players can load into that blocked state and be unable to progress through the strike. This issue is also occurring in the Hallowed Lair strike.

In addition to that, there’s also a developer insight into the Deep Stone Crypt happening this March 3 as well.

Once this patch is out for Destiny 2, we’ll let our readers know. It’s currently unmentioend whether this is a server-side update or if players will actually need to download something. We’ll let our Destiny 2 readers know which is which come Tuesday.

Those playing Outriders on PlayStaiton and PC, People Can Fly has pushed the Outriders update 1.04 Feb. 27 patch (PS5 version 1.0004) today. This is a title update that’s more for fixes than anything else (which is a given since this is a demo).

Here’s what People Can Fly has said about today’s patch:

We are pushing updated builds to PC and PlayStation platforms, with Xbox following on later next week. This will allow us to improve our backend analysis systems used for balancing and issue tracking.

That’s about it. Remember: Xbox players are getting it next week. Again, this is more for stability than anything else.

We’ll be posting our demo impressions of Outriders very soon, but in the meantime, go check out some of our coverage regarding the game below.

We’ll also be posting our interview with the devs regarding the game soon.

Kung Fu Action Game Sifu Launches This Fall, Is the Follow-Up to Absolver

We’re going to get some crazy and intense martial arts action with a slice of revenge and redemption, as independent development studio SloCap has announced during PlayStation’s State of Play showcase a game called Sifu — which is their follow-up title to their 2017 ambitious multiplayer game Absolver.
Here’s the synopsis for this intense looking Kung Fu inspired game from the press release.
Featuring the gripping intensity of classic Kung Fu films with realistic and raw combat, Sifu tells the story of a young Kung Fu student who has spent their life training for a day of reckoning after the brutal murder of their entire family by a mysterious assassination squad. Hunt down the murderers one by one as you explore gang-ridden suburbs, hidden corners deep within the city, all the way to the cold hallways of corporate towers. Adaptation and careful positioning are the key to your survival and you must use everything at your disposal to succeed in your life’s mission.
Sifu’s unique gameplay sits in the crossroads of two established and popular genres, mashing the intensity and timeless thrill of beat em ups with the gripping design of 3D character action games. Set against a detailed backdrop of a fictional Chinese city, you will uncover an ancient mystery via a series of difficult confrontations that will test your skills to their limit. To overcome the odds that are heavily stacked against you, you’ll need to rely on your mastery of Kung Fu, and on a magical pendant that will revive you after death. The cost of magic is dear, however, and you will age significantly every time you come back to life: time is the price you will pay for your revenge.
Exquisitely hand-drawn art styles and the muted color palette lend themselves to Kung Fu film classics where themes of revenge and redemption are timeless tales, all perfectly blending with Sloclap’s martial arts gameplay expertise, to create a truly unique singleplayer Kung Fu game.
Kung Fu is a path for the body and the mind. Learn from your errors, unlock unique skills, and find the strength within yourself to master the devastating techniques of Pak-Mei Kung-Fu. Your family’s legacy depends on it.
If you haven’t seen the announcement trailer and gameplay for Sifu, check it out here.
Sifu will be coming to the PS5, PS4, and PC via Epic Games Store.

Report: PS5 Storage Upgrade Feature Planned to Hit This Summer

Ran out of disk space on your PS5? Yeah, chances are, you’re not the only one. With more and more games these days taking up a ton of disk space, PS5 owners are probably wondering when a PS5 storage upgrade solution will be made available.

If this latest rumor from Bloomberg (subscription require) is to be believed, it’s set for this summer! According to the report, support for additional harddrives will be enabled via a firmware update that will also unlock higher cooling fan speeds to ensure that the console won’t overheat.

A Sony spokesperson shared, “As previously announced, we are working to enable M.2 SSD storage expansion for PlayStation 5. The timing has not been announced and details will be shared later.”

While gamers might be in for a long wait before they can upgrade their PS5 storage, we are getting a lot of good games to ease the pain (or add to it depending on your HDD space). For starters, Sony announced next month’s PlayStation Plus offerings and it includes Final Fantasy 7 Remake for the PS4! There’s also Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade out later this year as well, which includes an exclusive episode just for Yuffie.

At the very least though, we won’t be stuck with Sony proprietary HDDs. After what happened to the PS Vita, surely Sony learned from its past mistakes (right??).

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Announced and Arrives for Nintendo Switch on 2022

The Pokemon news is literally pouring on and in full swing, as The Pokemon Company has announced a new game in the series called Pokemon Legends: Arceus — which will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and arrives some time in 2022!

Here’s the trailer to the game — which brings players to the Sinnoh region back in the distant past.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUW1ZWAq09M

Here’s the overview of the game from the Pokemon team.

The fun of exploring while catching Pokemon and filling in a Pokedex has always been a core part of the Pokemon video game series. Pokemon Legends: Arceus was developed with the desire to deliver an experience infused with new action and RPG elements that go beyond the framework established thus far, while honoring the core gameplay of past Pokemon titles.

As Trainers explore the natural expanses in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, they’ll encounter Pokemon that call these grand vistas home. To catch wild Pokemon, players can study the Pokemon’s behaviors, sneak up to them, then throw Poke Balls. Players can also battle wild Pokemon with their ally Pokemon. By throwing the Poke Ball holding their ally Pokemon near a wild Pokemon, players will seamlessly enter battle. This new gameplay angle is intended to provide Trainers with an immersive experience.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus brings Trainers to the vast Sinnoh region as it existed in the past, long before the setting for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl was established. Rich in nature and with Mount Coronet towering at its heart, this is a Sinnoh unlike anything Trainers have experienced before as they embark to create the region’s first Pokedex.

As they start off on their adventure, Trainers will be able to choose either Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott as their first partner Pokemon. These three Pokemon arrived with a Pokemon Professor, who encountered them on research excursions to various regions.

Check out the new trailer to New Pokemon Snap, as well as Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
