  • When using the inverted controls option, the mouse cursor will no longer be inverted while the map is open.

ART + ANIMATION

SoulCalibur VI Geralt Showcase Talks About Character Moves, and More

If you haven’t played any of The Witcher games (shame on you!), you might not know who Geralt of Rivia is. He’s a “witcher,” someone who slays monsters for a living, and is an expert swordsman, and also dabbles in magic.

Now, if you’re a SoulCalibur VI fan, you ought to know that Geralt is coming to fight! In case you missed the announcement, there’s now a new video specifically showcasing Geralt in SoulCalibur VI! Check out CD Projekt RED talking about how Geralt fits into the SoulCalibur universe, how they even brought in the original motion capture actor just for this guest appearance and more.

He should fit in quite nicely, no? Geralt does have the advantage of being able to use his signs powers, but somehow, I don’t think that’ll give him a super big advantage.

SoulCalibur VI is set to slice out sometime this year.

John Cena Confirmed to Star in Live-Action Duke Nukem Movie

Here’s your interesting news for the day: John Cena, WWE champ, and all around good guy has been cast as lead role in the live-action Duke Nukem movie!

Before any of you gets too excited, the Duke Nukem movie is in super early stages of production, but as it stands now, Cena is set to star. Producer Andrew Form mentions, We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there’s ways that he could pull out, but right now he’s our guy.”

In addition to that statement, Form also says that the movie is taking cues from Deadpool in striking the right balance of tone, and even goes as far as saying that “if we don’t get the tone right then we’re not going to make the movie.”

For the young ‘uns reading this, Duke Nukem started way back in 1991, with the latest entry in the series being the disaster that was Duke Nukem Forever by Gearbox Software (Borderlands), which bombed so hard we didn’t see a sequel or even a whiff of it up to this day.

But hey, if anyone can make Duke Nukem relevant again, it’s got to be John Cena, right?

Straight Shooting: MP1st Changes to Look Forward to Soon

Hey all,

In case some readers didn’t know, MP1st was revived late last year by some of the old staff, myself, and Mack Ashworth. We aimed to provide the latest multiplayer news, in-depth reviews of multiplayer games and even gaming peripherals that differ from other sites since we’re, we’ll, better gamers than most reviewers.

While there’s a new Battlefield game coming later this year, and there’s Black Ops 4 (BOIIII) from Treyarch already confirmed, there are months where it’s really thin in terms of multiplayer gaming news, rumors and more. Having said that, MP1st (Multiplayer 1st), will start reviewing select single-player games starting next month, and even (maybe) post some single-player news from time to time. Note that we’re doing this type of coverage for AAA titles that we think every kind of gamer should play, and chances are, we’ll be playing ourselves, too.

Now, before anyone violently reacts, we won’t be changing the site’s overall direction; we’re still going to focus on multiplayer games, multiplayer news, reviews and more. Just don’t be surprised to see a single-player game being reported on or reviewed from time to time, alright?

Also of note: we’re going to try hard to dive in to more guides since our data shows this is one of the main things our readers wants.

We’re still a niche site, but we’re just widening our scope a bit in terms of content, which should be a win-win scenario for all given we won’t compromise any of our news, reviews and coverage.

Sounds good? If you think otherwise or have suggestions, let us know via email (tips@mp1st.com), or by leaving a comment below.

30% of All PC Gamers Are Playing Battle Royale Titles, Analyst Concludes

Unless you’ve been living under a particularly massive rock, you’ll know that the battle royale has pretty much taken over the gaming world. With both Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG giving players the chance to hunt each other down in an intense gameplay experience, there’s not much room left for playing anything else.

But just how many people are playing these games? Well, the analysts over at Newzoo have carried out research on PC players and concluded that over 30 percent spent time enjoying the battle royale genre last month (February 2018). Fortnite had a share of 16.3 percent, while PUBG had 14.6 percent. Games like DayZH1Z1, and Ark: Survival of the Fittest were also featured on the list of potential games, but had less than 5% share each.

Over 30 percent of all PC players spent time playing a battle royale game during February! I find that pretty insane, but I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, what with how these games are continuing to grow and break new milestones!

In other Fortnite news, it has become the most watched and most streamed game on Twitch, the Flippin’ Sexy emote is driving players wild, and a future update will bridge the Battle Royale and Save the World controls.

Fortnite Guided Missile Is Coming Soon to Battle Royale

Fortnite guided missile is apparently coming soon to the Battle Royale component. Announced through the in-game menu, the guided missile will allow for “remote control destruction from above.” That’s a curious description, and I have to wonder if this weapon will tie-in with the upcoming Limited Time Mode. We’ll have to wait and see.

With the Fortnite rocket launcher already being a controversial weapon, it’s going to be interesting to see how the community reacts to another explosive launcher being added to the game.

The Fortnite guided missile release date has yet to be confirmed. Epic Games has labelled it as “coming soon,” which usually means that it will be added within the week. However, as we’ve seen with the jetpack, delays can and sometimes do happen.

In other Fortnite news, it has become the most watched and most streamed game on Twitch, the Flippin’ Sexy emote is driving players wild, and a future update will bridge the Battle Royale and Save the World controls.

Overwatch Avoid Player Feature Now Being Tested in PTR, Full Patch Notes

Have you ever wanted to not be in the same team as a griefer? Or maybe someone who doesn’t play with the same intensity as you in Overwatch? Rejoice! Blizzard is currently testing out an Overwatch avoid player feature in the PTR (Public Test Realm)!

Blizzard posted the Overwatch patch notes for the PTR, and it also includes buffs to certain characters! Remember: not everything in the PTR is rolled out to the retail version, and some of the changes below are for the PC version only.

MAP UPDATES

Blizzard World

  • Moved the first payload checkpoint (Pylon Terrace) back 10 meters

Developer Comments: We moved the checkpoint back for two reasons. The original location swung the map’s balance too far in one direction (favoring the defenders). Also, once the payload reached the checkpoint, defenders returning from spawn could get pinned in this area, usually resulting in their death.

GENERAL UPDATES

General

  • Players can choose to “Avoid as Teammate” with a dropdown menu in the Career Profile

Developer Comments: The addition of the “Avoid as Teammate” option gives players the ability to craft their online gameplay experience. Up to two players can be selected with this feature. If you use the “Avoid as Teammate” option on a player, the matchmaker will no longer place you on a team with the avoided player for one week. To learn more about this feature, click here.

Report Menu

  • The “Poor Teamwork” dropdown menu option has been removed
  • The “Griefing” dropdown menu option has been renamed “Gameplay Sabotage”

Developer Comments: Due to player confusion about the most appropriate category to report players for poor or toxic gameplay, we are removing the Poor Teamwork option from the reporting system. Players should instead use the Gameplay Sabotage option when players actively harass or disrupt their own team with game mechanics or their actions. Players should not be reported simply for performing poorly, since everyone occasionally has a bad game.

Heroes

  • Sombra’s “Enemies Hacked” end-of-round card now also displays her offensive assists
  • Brigitte’s Golden Weapon variant will now also give her a golden shield
  • Changed Mercy’s Valkyrie voice line

UI

  • Simplified Hero Select tips for roles

HERO UPDATES

D.Va

Micro Missiles

  • Explosive damage reduced from 6 to 4

Developer Comments: D.Va’s burst potential is a bit too high, and her Micro Missiles are a major part of that. Currently each missile deals 3 impact damage and 6 explosive damage. We’re reducing explosive damage from 6 to 4 but leaving the impact damage the same, the net result being 22% damage reduction.

Mei

Endothermic Blaster

  • Now pierces through enemies

Developer Comments: This change helps Mei combat multiple targets that are clumped up and also makes it easier to keep her freezing a specific target if another enemy gets in the way. In addition, this change helps her ultimate more consistently be able to freeze more targets, especially if they are near each other. Note: While her shots now pierce enemies, they still do not pierce barriers such as Reinhardt’s shield.

Reaper

Death Blossom

  • Reloads Hellfire Shotguns after use

Wraith Form

  • Move speed bonus increased from 25% to 50%
  • You can now cancel the ability by pressing the Shift or Primary Fire hotkey

Developer Comments: These changes help Reaper use Wraith Form more consistently as an escape, but they also open up new options, such as chasing down key targets.

Moira

Biotic Grasp

  • Transparency increased the closer you are to a target

Coalescence

  • Now becomes more transparent the closer its visual effects are to a player’s camera

Fade

  • Transparency increased the closer you are to a target

Developer Comments: Due to issues with visibility, we have made most of Moira’s visual effects fade away the closer they are to the camera. We have also made modifications to Coalescence to greatly increase the ability for foes and allies alike to see through it when facing it.

Zenyatta

Orb of Destruction

  • Secondary fire rate of fire reduced by 15%

Developer Comments: Zenyatta is meant to be able to deal a lot of damage, especially for a support, but his alternate fire burst damage was a bit too high. This change keeps the overall damage the same but lowers the DPS slightly and makes it harder to hit multiple shots at very long ranges.

USER INTERFACE UPDATES

General

  • Heroes can now be selected by double-clicking the hero icon during Hero Select
  • Added leaderboard information to the competitive information screen. This can be accessed by right-clicking the menu on the competitive card

GAME BROWSER AND CUSTOM GAMES UPDATES

General

  • Lockout Elimination cards in the Arcade are now just referred to as Elimination

BUG FIXES

Heroes

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Bastion from firing projectiles immediately after going into Tank configuration
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Bastion from being knocked back while transforming during Configuration: Tank
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Brigitte’s impact effects from playing when hitting the environment
  • Fixed a bug that caused Brigitte’s aim to be slightly offset after using Shield Bash
  • Fixed a bug that caused a player’s camera to jitter when spectating Doomfist during his Meteor Strike
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Doomfist’s Meteor Strike from landing where it was telegraphed when standing close to a ledge
  • Fixed a bug that allowed Doomfist’s Meteor Strike to access unintended locations
  • Fixed a bug that caused Doomfist’s Meteor Strike to penetrate angled surfaces as he descended
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Doomfist’s Rocket Punch from impacting enemies because the hitbox size was slightly too small
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Junkrat from being knocked back while piloting his RIP-Tire
  • Fixed a bug that allowed Orisa’s Halt! to sometimes affect enemy targets behind walls
  • Fixed a bug that caused McCree’s Peacekeeper to grow substantially during the hero select screen when certain skins were equipped
  • Fixed a bug that allowed Moira’s Biotic Orb to pass through Mei’s Ice Wall
  • Fixed a bug that caused Tracer’s Recall to activate differently based on the player’s latency

Remember, Briggite is getting nerfed as well in the PTR, which will most likely roll out to the base game.

Sea of Thieves Death Tax Penalty Won’t Push Through, Development Update Released

Remember last week when we reported that Rare was going to implement some sort of “death tax” in Sea of Thieves? While no real-world money was involved, it still caused enough of a ruckus for the studio to not push through with it at all.

Over on Twitter, Sea of Thieves Producer Joe Neate announced that it’s not happening at all, thankfully.

Even the update notes has been tweaked as well, with the death cost now stating this:

Death Cost – Thank you all for your feedback on our previously discussed Coming Update, Death Cost. Due to your passionate comments, we have decided not to move forward with this feature. Thanks for the honest feedback & discussion on this

Also of note, a new video update has been rolled out by Rare where the studio talks about the current climate of the game, as well as what’s in store for the future.

While fans might not be sold 100 percent on Sea of Thieves, it’s comforting to know that the studio is listening; with the studio even addressing player issues on the game’s lack of content.

Call of Duty: WWII Second Expansion Called “War Machine,” Details & Release Date Revealed

Tired of the Resistance content for Call of Duty: WWII? Then prepare for the second one! Sledgehammer Games has opened the lid on the second WWII expansion, which will be called “The War Machine.”

This COD WW2 DLC 2 will once again come with three maps, a new War mission, and a new chapter of Nazi Zombies. Players will fight at Dunkirk, Egypt, and at a secret German V-2 rocket facility. The new War mode mission, which is being co-developed by Raven Software, will be called “Operation Husky,” and will include aerial dogfights! The War Machine expansion will be released this April 10 on the PS4, with both the Xbox One and PC getting it a month after.

Check out the official map descriptions below.

Egypt: For the first time in Call of Duty: WWII, we’re bringing players to the battlefields of Northern Africa and the Egyptia pyramids. Players fight in and around the ancient ruins at Giza with landmarks that you’re sure to recognize. The map features an interior temple in the center that heats up during intense Domination matches with more open exterior lanes to either side. There’s something for everyone, as all ranges and playstyles have a place to call home here.

Dunkirk: Players face off on the sands and beachfront boardwalk of the French sea-side city of Dunkirk. This map features a lage, open and dangerous beach area flanked by tight interiors through the buildings lining the beach-front. Sniping can be effective here, though aggressive running and gunning can also pay off, so keep sharp and watch your angles and surroundings to win the day.

V2: Welcome to V2 – a rocket development and test site located in rural Germany. V2 is a tight, ultra-fast paced map that neve lets up for a moment. The launch tower sits at the map center, providing a focal point and an opportunity to grab an elevated sightline on unsuspecting opponents. Short-to mid-range engagements are dominant here, with fast and furious gameplay throughout – don’t blink!

Lastly, there’s the Nazi Zombie chapter called “The Shadowed Throne.”

The Shadowed Throne

The Shadowed Throne brings our heroes into the heart of Nazi Germany to confront a desperate and evil regie. Berlin is burning, and Doktor Straub’s monstrous army is hellbent on purging his city of the Allied invaders. Join Marie, Drostan, Olivia, and Jefferson on their descent into madness in a city warped with terror, blood, and war, as Nazi Zombies steps out from the shadows of history.

Are you jumping into the WWII DLC pool once again with The War Machine?

Here’s a List of Star Wars Battlefront 2 Heroes vs Villains Issues That Stemmed From 2.0 Patch

While DICE rolled out a very significant title update to Star Wars Battlefront 2 that changed the game’s progression and more, it seemed the studio has also brought in a host of unintended changes that weren’t needed.

Over on Reddit, user DividedStoryTime compiled a list of issues for Battlefront 2’s Heroes and Villains mode, which run the gamut from actual hero abilities not working as intended, and bugs that made some moves/heroes overpowered. Check out the full list below.

HvV is broken Patch 2.0
byu/DividedStoryTime inStarWarsBattlefront

  • Blaster Heroes are slower due to a bug.
  • Deflecting with a lightsaber works 50/50 of the time.
  • Darth Vader choke is still broken.
  • Kylo can use abilities when stunned and in certain conditions when he shouldn’t be able to.
  • Alt doesn’t always work, being trapped.
  • Luke’s deflection mastery doesn’t work.
  • Rey has unstoppable lightsaber slashes (impossible to escape)
  • Finn can shoot through stairs with his first ability if at an angle.
  • Leia can use her second ability to continue firing while stunned and under fire.
  • (rant) randoms suck, wish I had more friends.
  • I was Darth Vader and while I was being spammed above by a blaster hero I could not block and when I used my key to block nothing would happen.
  • Captain Phasma’s turret freezes you too frequently.
  • Luke and Rey can sometimes dodge away more than twice. (i.e – I was chasing down a Rey and a Luke who could dodge away more than 4 times in a row)
  • Iden for prominent reason(s). We all know why…

Given DICE’s support for the game, it should only be a matter of time until some — if not all — these issues are fixed.

If you know of anymore Battlefront 2 issues, share ’em in the comments below.
