BioWare is set to release more free multiplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3. The newest pack is called ‘Earth’, and will launch on July 17th on Xbox 360, as outed by Major Nelson.
Last month, Redditor derptemp6698 leaked the following blurb about ‘Earth’. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, but it seems to be legit.
The fighting is fiercest when it’s your home at stake! Mass Effect 3™: Earth adds mods, gear, and new maps for Rio, Vancouver, and London. It features 3 new weapons: Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon light machine gun. Six new human N7 classes are also available: Destroyer, Paladin, Demolisher, Slayer, Shadow, and Fury!
‘Earth’ should also release on PS3 and PC soon, but we’re waiting for the official details from BioWare.
As we patiently await for the brand new Medal of Honor: Warfighter multiplayer trailer, Danger Close gives us three images to tie us over, giving us clues as to what sort of settings we can expect in the competitive multiplayer portion of Warfighter.
At 91% complete at the time of writing, we are only 9% away from the Facebook goal that Medal of Honor’s official page set a few days ago. Make sure to head on over to vote in their polls and help us reach that goal sooner!
We love it when gamers get bored. Why? They produce amazing stuff like this.
Minecraft player and forum user Mozone, who must have recently just come out of a long streak of boredom, meticulously and painstakingly recreated the entirety of one of Battlefield 3’s larget maps, Caspian Border, in the world of Minecraft.
Upon inspecting the image below, you’ll notice that much attention was paid to detail here. Every nook and cranny has been re-created in order to capture every bit of likeness that could be mustered using only these large, clunky Minecraft blocks.
Sledgehammer Games has “pulled together some of the best pieces” of Modern Warfare 3 concept, in its latest blog.

In a recent interview with Gamesutra, Frozenbyte, the Indie developers behind Trine 1 and 2, share their take on developing for the Wii U along with their beliefs regarding its online service.
Joel Kinnunen, a developer working at Frozenbyte, had this to say:
We’re going in with the expectation that Nintendo will be able to match or even surpass the other platforms this time around. Miiverse seems very intriguing and some of the features are a very good fit for Trine 2: Director’s Cut. Our goal is to provide one of the best online multiplayer experiences for Wii U users.
One of the many concerns with the Wii U is how the online service will function. Like the original Wii console, the Wii U will feature free online connectivity, which is the same model the PSN is currently using. This, of course, allows anyone with a console and online connection to use the service free of charge. However, the concern comes from the fact that Nintendo has never really been a huge party when it came to online multiplayer, especially with the long friend codes that were used in the Wii and DS. Looking at the current online system of the Wii, you can clearly tell that Nintendo is lacking compared to either Xbox Live or PSN.
However, Frozenbyte feels very “confident” that the Wii U will offer a “very different experience” from that found on the Wii console.
Do you think Nintendo has what it takes to step their online game up? Let u know in the comments below!

As if Zombies weren’t enough trouble in the world of DayZ, now you’ll have to worry about dogs and the dangerous Bear Trap. Patch 1.7.2, which currently has no release date, is set to bring in many new fixes along with a new item, the Bear Trap.
With the Bear Trap, players will be able to set traps for both the living and the undead, which will break their legs if stepped on. Animals will be killed upon activating the bear trap.
Speaking about dogs, in a recent interview that Eurogamer did with Dean Hall, it was confirmed that dogs would be making an appearance in DayZ, though it wasn’t certain as to when.
“It’s just there’s a problem with the implementation and there’s been so much more that’s been more pressing,” he told Eurogamer. As to what type of dog, it’s the German Shepards as of right now. The role of these dogs haven’t been confirmed yet, though we do expect them to be both your companions and also possibly be infected wild beasts.
Here are the patch notes for the upcoming 1.7.2 update. There is still no release date set for this patch.
Changelog:

More and more, the Arma 2 mod DayZ is making video gaming headlines, and for good reason.
The last time we reported on the online multiplayer, zombie survival-horror modification of the ultra realistic military shooter Arma 2, DayZ managed to boost the original game’s sales by a whopping 500%, roughly 3 years after its release.
Today, we happily report that the DayZ mod has currently accumulated over 420,000 players and that number is going nowhere but up.
Speaking with Eurogamer, creator and Bohemia Interactive multiplayer designer Dean Hall stated that he expects another 10,000 players to be added to the open world of Chernarus by tomorrow, July 8th, and expects to see half a million total by next week.
“Currently we’re running 22,000 concurrent at full peak, and 10,000 off peak, which is pretty huge numbers considering the original data structure and system was designed to handle 100 concurrents, and two servers,” Hall said during a developer session at Rezzed, a PC and indie game show in Brighton. He added, “we now have 1000 servers. We’re getting 110,000 players in a 24 hour period at the moment.”
Interestingly, he mentions that the rapid growth has forced Hall to migrate its servers, five of which have been lost to overheating, six times already. These numbers are quite spectacular, considering DayZ “was really just designed as a tech demo for something I’d been pitching for a while,” Hall said.
Hall also mentioned that he would eventually like to see the DayZ mod turned into a standalone game, or perhaps even become free-to-play.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has officially received a release date, and the pre-order goodies have also been revealed. That’s not all, yesterday at Evo 2012 Sony announced two brand new characters that’ll be joining the All-Stars roster, Heihachi and Toro.
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is set to release on October 23rd, exclusively for the Playstation 3 and PS Vita. For those who pre-order on either PS3 or Ps Vita, you’ll receive a download code for some exclusive characters skins, which can be seen below.
Pre-order exclusives. You’ll be able to unlock multiple in-game costumes come launch.
At the time of announcement it was unknown who the other two character would be, but Sony has announced at this year’s Evo tournament that both Heihachi and Toro would be joining the star studded roster. This marks the 9th and 10th characters announced so far.
Don’t worry about those being the only characters, as we managed to reach SuperBot Entertainment via Twitter about the roster size, and they have confirmed that there will be more then 10 characters. It’s been also confirmed a while back that we would see more characters at this year’s Comic Con.
Playstation All-Star Battle Royale is a free-for-all crossover brawler, which features popular characters from the Playstation Universe along with additional third party characters. Players can expect the gameplay to be very similar to that of Nintendo’s popular franchise, Super Smash Bros, where you’ll be pit against three other players in hopes of reigning victor at the end of each match.
However, the biggest difference that players can expect is the way damage is dealt in the game. Unlike Super Smash Bros, players won’t actually take damage from hits, but instead attack others to build their “Super” meter.
Super attacks have three levels of strength, “supers” are the only way of defeating an opponent, known as of right now. Down below is some gameplay demonstrating this gameplay mechanic.
The game will feature both local and online multiplayer play for up to 4 players. Each stage will feature some sort of dynamic environment that’ll help shape the battle of a match. Players can also take advantage of items, such as the hedgehog grenades from Resistance, that’ll drop randomly throughout the stages.
So far we have five confirmed stages, each of them containing a mix of multiple games.
Metropolis – Mix of the Ratchet and Clank and God of War series.

The official Modern Warfare 3 Content Calendar has been updated to show how the season of DLC is coming to an end. During the final three months of Elite content, three pieces of DLC will be released every month starting from July for Xbox 360, August for PS3.
Previously, the outdated calendar included only seven drops to release over the last three Elite months, but Modern Warfare 3 is expected to receive 24 drops, not 22 as we reported back in March. So, the final two unknown drops were added today to the calendar, which also has been completely revamped in terms of what type of content is expected to release.
Here are the old content listings:
July: 2 Maps
August: 1 Map, 1 Mission, 1 Classified
September: 1 Map, 1 Mission
As of today, it includes the following: (Xbox 360)
(Notes: Content drops labeled “Multiplayer” should be MP maps, PS3 users will receive the drops 30 days after.)
The three content drops scheduled to release for Xbox 360 Elite users this month might release on July 17th along with Terminal, which will release for Elite user on the same day, July 18th for the rest of Xbox 360 users. This was the case with the free Face Off maps that released along side Elite’s May drops. The date will be confirmed next week, says Mark Rubin on Twitter.
Last year we saw the release of Halo Combat Evolve Anniversary, a remake of the first Halo game on the original Xbox console. According to the rumor page of the latest issue of OXM, 343 Industries, the developers behind the first anniversary remake and the team that is currently developing the upcoming Halo 4, are also working on a second anniversary edition – a remake of Halo 2.
“Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary,” stated the Official Xbox Magazine.
Halo 2 marked a huge step forward in the Halo franchise with it’s exciting and addictive multiplayer and story-driven single player campaign. How would you guys feel about getting a remake of this title?

Take a look back at the classic and beloved Battlefield map, Wake Island, throughout the ages.
Of all Battlefield Maps, Wake Island has appeared and been re-imagined in all major Battlefield titles to date, including the original Battlefield: 1942, Battlefield 2, Battlefield: 2142 (as a community-made map), Battlefield: 1943 and the recent Battlefield 3 in the Back to Karkand expansion pack.
If you’ve only recently started playing the Battlefield series and are curious to see previous iterations, or are simply feeling nostalgic towards your favorite tropical island map, then you’re in luck. YouTuber Mickmoffat has put together this compilation of comparison shots between the different versions of Wake Island. Check out what it looked like in 1942, then in Battlefield 2 and compare it to it’s latest appearance in Battlefield 3.
At the last E3, 343 Industries held a special competition for the top MLG players, where they got the chance to play head to head with the developers. Some game modes that they got to try out included Infinity Slayer and Regicide, which were all played on the multiplayer maps Haven, Adrift and Longbow. Here’s a short video to wrap all that up.

DICE gameplay designer Niklas Fegraeus gives Battlefield 3 fans a deeper look into the upcoming Armored Kill expansion pack due out in September as he details some of the new vehicles and gives his two cents on the brand new game mode, Tank Superiority.
Being heavily focused on vehicular combat, Armored Kill will be introducing a number of new vehicles to the Battlefield 3 experience including tank destroyers, new ant-aircraft vehicles and the brand new AC-130 gunship. Fegraeus details these new additions in a recent Q&A session with GameSpot.
“The new tank destroyers carry a lot of firepower, while sacrificing armor for speed,” he explains. “This means they have the ability to bring the big guns to contested areas much quicker than the main battle tanks, providing your team with great mobility and area control.”
New additions to aerial and anti-air vehicles are also being made. Fegraeus continues, “the mobile artillery, on the other hand, are slow and poorly protected but, properly placed, can suppress entire bases with heavy shelling. There’s nothing better than a skilled artillery gunner to have on your side, softening up a base before moving in for the capture.”
Speaking of capturing bases, there is one base in particular that you’ll definitely want to be focusing all your attention on in most or all of the new maps. Taking control of the new AC-130 gunship can be a game changer and is also a completely new way to play Battlefield 3. “The AC130 gunship brings a completely new experience to Battlefield,” says Fegraeus. “If your team wins control over a specific base, it starts circling the battlefield. When doing this, your team can use it as a parachute spawn and also man the weapon positions. These range from heavy auto cannons to high caliber shells and anti-aircraft machine guns. A fully utilized AC130 can suppress and destroy ground targets with great efficiency, so the other team needs to quickly scramble their pilots and mobile AA to shoot it down.”
If dogfighting isn’t your thing, then you’ll definitely be interested in the brand new Tank Superiority game mode. “Tank Superiority is a vehicle focused mode where large number of heavy vehicles clash in order to control key areas,” explains Fegraeus. He also lets fans in on a few tips to master in order to dominate the battlefield while driving one of these war machines. “It covers vast areas, so tactical positioning and precise long range firing are two very important skills players need to deploy in order to win.”
While many of the new maps like Bandar Desert (a map that Fegreaus likens to Battlefield 1942’s El Alamein) will be extremely large in scale and will provide many open environments, there is still room for building to building, close quarter combat. “For example,” says Fegraeus, “on Bandar Desert, there is a whole town being constructed near the shore, and there’s always intense building to building combat taking place there. However, surrounding this built up area are vast deserts populated by artillery bases and supply lines that are key to controlling if you want to stop the enemy from getting the upper hand.”
So, what about motor-bikes, which are being added in Battlefield 3’s fifth expansion pack End Game? Fegraeus teases, “we are introducing motorcycles in our fifth expansion, End Game. These will of course be nimble and fast transport vehicles, but might offer something else as well.” When asked if players could perform tricks and stunts on these, Fegraues mentioned, “I don’t think I’ve seen a tank do a wheelie before jumping off a bridge!”
Lastly, Fegraeus is asked, ” Armored Kill isn’t out until September, almost a year since the game was released–why the long wait for this DLC?” He responds, “we are truly humbled by our fans’ response to Battlefield 3, it’s been amazing! So when we started thinking about how to provide players with DLC post launch, we wanted it to be something really special that fans would truly appreciate. That’s when we thought of doing “more than just maps” and instead give players a chance to enjoy something suited for their favorite Battlefield experience. And that’s how we committed to the themed expansions we have presented now. We are putting a tremendous amount of work into these, and we just hope that players will enjoy all that these expansion packs have to offer.”
“A new Title Update is being delivered for the Xbox 360 version of the game,” announced Ubisoft’s community developer on the official forums. In addition, a PC specific patch is in the works, and will release early next week to iron out the input compatibility issues.
Here are the patch notes for the Xbox 360 update, which should go live soon:

Improved tuning of host selection weighting;

The team is also working hard on the PC version, and a specific title update for the PC will be released early next week to fix input compatibility issues.
Infinity Ward has released a title update for Modern Warfare 3 on the PS3 platform, and it should be available for everyone now. The patch weighs in at a modest size of 31MB.
The patch is said to further improve searching for games and help analyse matchmaking so they can do more precise enhancements for those experiencing difficulties searching for lobbies, which we reported on recently.
It also fixes a bug for the upcoming free Modern Warfare 2 map, Terminal, which has recently been given a release date for Xbox 360, and is TBD for PS3/PC – you can read about that in our Terminal details article here.
Here are the official patch notes:
Added more telemetry for matchmaking and made some adjustments on region weighting
Fix for Terminal missing message incorrectly being displayed in Private Match
Xbox 360 and PC platforms are expected to get the same matchmaking improvements and more telemetry additions at a later date. You can view upcoming updates and improvements – which include improvements to lag compensation and the spawning system – in our round-up article here.
Also, a hot fix for all platforms was implemented early this morning, fixing a small issue caused by a knock-on effect in a hot fix earlier on in the week closing up loopholes for potential “hacked” classes.
Fixed an issue (introduced inadvertently Tuesday as part of a hot-fix hacker prevention measure) where only the first attachment would register on a player’s secondary in-game when using Overkill Pro.
Update: According to Mark Rubin, more updates for matchmaking are going to be released. “We’re getting a lot of data from the telemetry we added. But need more,” Rubin explained when I asked him.
