A first look at Medal of Honor Warfighter’s gameplay has finally been shown in a new gameplay trailer. While the footage used in the trailer is from the single-player, it should give us a feel for the multiplayer component of the game since the same studio, Danger Close, is working on both.
The game is being powered by Frostbite 2.0, which explains why it looks similar to Battlefield 3.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter is set to release on Oct. 23rd , 2012 for the PlayStation3 , Xbox 360 and PC. You can find the latest news here, and be sure to learn more about the weapons used in the game.
A gamer at heart, James has been working for MP1st for the last decade to do exactly what he loves, writing about video games and having fun doing it. Growing up in the 90's gaming has been in his DNA since the days of NES. One day he hopes to develop his own game.
Modern Warfare 3 Premium Elite users on the PS3 can now download the three new Elite drops. Drops 4, 5, and 6 include one multiplayer map, Black Box, and two spec ops missions, Negotiator and Black Ice.
The new drops can be downloaded through the in-game store menu option under multiplayer. Thanks to MP1st reader Mat, the DLC sizes are as follows, Black Ice is 144MB, Negotiator is 17MB, and Black Box is 92 MB. In addition to the three drops, a 100KB access key and a new theme is downloaded. Earlier today, patch 1.12 went live, added new trophies.
On the PSN, Collection 1, which packs in four maps and two spec ops missions, is now available to pre-order for $14.99. If you pre-order Collection on or before April 18th, you get “an exclusive PS3 Theme as a gift with purchase.” This can only mean that on April 19th Collection 1 will be made available for non-Elite PS3 owners and hopefully PC owners as well. It’s not official at this point, but Xbox 360 players received Collection 1 last month on the 20th.
Update #1: Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey has confirmed that non-paid Elite PS3 owners will be getting the first content collection on April 19th as we speculated above. He stated, “Its raining MW3 DLC! Drops to both Xbox 360 & PS3 Elite this week, Collection 1 to the PS3 on 4/19.”
Update #2: Infinity Ward, via Twitter, assured PS3 owners that Colletion 1 will be available on April 19, but there’s still no confirmation on when it will be released for PC. The studio explained, “Collection 1 hitting all PS3 next Thursday, April 19. PC coming soon”
The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 3 has received its’ twelfth title update adding new trophies for the upcoming spec-op missions to be released later today in addition to other unannounced changes.
Modern Warfare 3 owners on the PlayStation 3 can now download a mandatory 27 MB patch that preps up the system for three Elite drops, which should go live later today. The new drops will include the following, new multiplayer map Black Box and two new special ops missions. While the patch notes haven’t been made public (at the time of writing), MP1st reader Rahman informed us that the patch added six new trophies for special operation missions, Black Ice and Negotiator. These should mirror the achievements that Xbox 360 players received last month, which you can read more about here.

In celebration of the recently released Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC, ME3: Resurgence, BioWare commences Operation: Resurgence this weekend.
If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out the trailer detailing the 2 new maps, 6 new characters and 3 new weapons included in this pack right here and don’t forget to download it as it is now available across all platforms.
As stated on the official BioWare blog, “anyone who has the Resurgence Pack multiplayer DLC operational during this weekend will be granted a Reserves Pack. A Reserves Pack unlocks one of the new random alien classes guaranteed.” Additionally, “all participating squads will earn +10% additional experience when playing on the Resurgence expansion’s new maps, Firebase: Condor and Firebase: Hydra.”
Unfortunately, BioWare is still struggling to gain the green light from Sony to allow these events to take place on the PS3 as well. For now, this event will take place on the Xbox 360 and PC only from Friday, April 13th at 5PM PST to Monday, April 16th at 5AM PST.
BioWare reminds player to make sure that “Upload Gameplay Feedback” is turned “on” in the online options menu.
So far, BioWare has shown great dedication to their Mass Effect 3 multiplayer fan base. Check out some of these earlier community events:
Update: Crytek recently stated on their official Twitter account, “The best kept secret in shooters just can’t be contained. Stay tuned for more information on April 16.”
Original Story: Rumors have been stirring this past month that a third (numbered) entry into the Crysis series is in the works under German-based developers Crytek. Thanks to some recently leaked listings on EA’s Origin, Crysis 3 is all but confirmed.
These listings below were screen captured off of Origin shortly before being taken down.
Some additional images, including what appears to be the Crysis 3 boxart, have also recently surfaced:
Earlier last month, Crytek teased an announcement of a multiplatform, AAA title to be made in April. Cytek’s Nick Button-Brown told CVG, “the other project [believed to be Crysis 3] looks absolutely fantastic – I mean, genuinely the best of that kind of project we’ve ever done.” He added, “It looks spectacular, the team are doing really, really well and it’s just really nice to see the team really enthusiastic about what they’re doing. They’re really happy.”
The front cover of a recent issue of Game Reactor also teased the setting of Crysis 3. You can notice Crytek’s trademark nanosuit pattern in the top left corner of the cover below.
This Russian website claims that Crysis 3 will be announced on April 15th. It also claims that the setting will take place in a completely destroyed New York city which has become “almost a jungle.” This would make sense – combining the setting of both Crysis 1 and 2. From the pictures above, the protagonist also seems to be carrying a futuristic bow-type weapon. It will be interesting to see its uses in-game. It also claims that Crytek has promised “the best sandbox FPS in the market.”
Additionally, the background of the Origin listing covers provided above also possibly suggest a European setting.
If these leaks are to be believed, are you excited to be on the eve of an official Crysis 3 announcement? In what setting do you believe the game will take place in? Or rather, what setting would you lik it to take place in? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below!
Be sure to follow MP1st on Twitter and Facebook for more on Crysis 3.
Activision is having a week long (started yesterday) Xbox Live sale on all map packs released for Call of Duty: World at War and Modern Warfare 2.
You can access all the discounted items through the “Sales & Specials” thumbnail under the Games section. This Call of Duty sale is limited to only MW2 and WaW, and the prices are as follows:
Warning: As some mentioned on Twitter and in the comments below, World at War has many issues in terms of hacks and such.
CoD: World at War – Map Pack 1 400 MS points
CoD: World at War – Map Pack 2 400 MS points
CoD: World at War – Map Pack 3 400 MS points
CoD: World at War – Map Pack Bundle 800 MS points
Modern Warfare 2 – Stimulus Package 400 MS Points
Modern Warfare 2 – Resurgence Package 400 MS Points
Today, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer goers were treated to a nice little addition in the form of 2 new maps, 6 new characters and 3 new weapons, all for the reasonable price of free.
However, Xbox 360 users beware! BioWare has recently issued this warning via Twitter: “Please DO NOT purchase the 320 pt. ‘Resurgence Pack’ consumable on XBL dash. This was erroneously uploaded & we are working to take it down!”
Currently, there are two packages on the XBL Marketplace; the free, “real” one that reads “Mass Effect 3: Resurgence Multiplayer Expansion” which also includes the Controller symbol with the “+” sign, and the other “fake” one that simply reads “Resurgence Pack” for 320 Microsoft Points. Simply put, do not pay 320 MS points for this DLC. Refer to the image below:
The free one is better
Of course, you should not have any problems what-so-ever if you are purchasing from the in-game “Downloadable Content” menu.
If you have accidentally purchased the Resurgence Pack for 320 MS Points, BioWare advises that “people who did so should contact a game adviser at help.ea.com.”
For those who’ve had a chance to try out this new multiplayer DLC, what do you think? Leave your impressions in the comments below!

In the latest issue of Inside DICE, Lead Gameplay Designer Gustav Halling walks Battlefield 3 fans through the evolution of the popular Battlefield map, Wake Island, from its 3-flag to 5-flag variant on consoles, including other small tweaks made to all versions.
When the last Battlefield 3 expansion pack, Back to Karkand, dropped back in December, fans were treated to four of the most memorable and classic Battlefield maps, including Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula and Wake Island. PC players, thanks to the platform’s powerful hardware, were able to experience these maps to their full potential, meaning both 5-flag and 6-flag variants were included in some of the map layouts. Unfortunately, hardware limitations of the consoles meant a 5-flag variant of the popular Wake Island was initially impossible. Not only that, but play tests showed that the lower player count of 24 players on console meant 5 flags would have stretched the player base too thin.
Up to this point, the only version of Wake Island that strictly console players would have been able to experience was the version found in the standalone, downloadable title, Battlefield: 1943. This version did, in fact, include a 5-flag layout, but was significantly scaled down (by 30%, according to Halling) compared to the initial size of the original Wake Island. This made for more action-packed gameplay while keeping a larger number of capture points.
Nevertheless, the outcry for a 5-flag layout of BF3’s Wake Island on consoles hit the internet in full force, eventually inspiring Halling to find a way to make it happen. He secretly began working on this project, finding new ways to improve upon the hardware limitations of consoles. Knowing that the upcoming Battlefield update that was to hit in March or April, Halling set out to achieve this goal by then.
This meant that a few tweaks needed to be made to the Frostbite 2 engine as well as to the general layout of the map. After sorting out some techinal issues, Halling took the PC version of BF3’s Wake Island and began play testing from there. One noticeable change was the new placement of the ani-aircraft guns which are now situated on the beach. This change also made into the PC version as well. You can check out images of the different layouts below:
Pre-patch, 3-flag layoutAKA Wake Island Day 2
In conclusion, a brand new 5-flag layout of Wake Island was settled upon for the console audience and was integrated into the latest patch. Of course, players still have the choice to continue playing on the 3-flag variant, which Halling states players might find more action-packed, especially at the capture points. While the 5-flag variant is now a viable option, players should expect more vehicular combat and sparsed-out firefights in between flags.
After having a taste of both 3-flag and 5-flag Wake Island variants, which one do you prefer? Let us know in the comments below!
Remember, you can check out more of Halling’s work in the upcoming, vehicle-heavy, Armored Kill DLC.
More details about Resident Evil 6’s multiplayer co-op experience have surfaced since the recent reveal of a brand new trailer during Capcom’s Captivate event in Rome.
First, if you haven’t checked out the new trailer, give it a glimpse right here:
Other than the loads of scary monsters and zombies, you’ll also notice a revised release date: October 2nd, 2012. This applies to both the Xbox 360 and PS3 while the PC version is due out at a later date.
On to some multiplayer goodness. Capcom has confirmed that co-op will, indeed, be making a return in Resident Evil 6 but will now support a drop-in and drop-out function. This means that players can enter or leave another’s game at any point without having to restart the level at the last checkpoint. Previously, in Resident Evil 5, players needed to enter games together through the loadout screen preceding each game.
In the trailer, you’ll also notice that each of the three protagonists, Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy and Jake Muller, will each have their own companion whom another player will have the ability to control, much like RE5.
Capcom has confirmed that the hugely popular Mercenaries mode will also be returning. Thankfully, it will be unlocked from the start this time around.
More multiplayer details including new co-op mechanics are still on their way, stated Capcom. Stay tuned to MP1st on Twitter and Facebook to find out more!
The latest Call of Duty Elite drops and a new patch for Modern Warfare 3 are available to download on Xbox 360.
The seventh and eight DLC drops can now be downloaded through the in-game store. Sanctuary and Foundation will set you back 87.11MB and 114.04MB respectively. Along with the new maps, a new title update is also available for the system. It’s still unknown what the 6MB mandatory patch has tweaked besides incorporating the new maps (patch notes are not available at the time of writing). The Collection 1 playlists have been changed back to Elite playlists, which offer the following consolidated game modes:
Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmed Playlist
Elite Objectives
Hardcore Ricochet Mosh Pit (Hardcore TDM, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and S&D with ricochet damage)
The Elite playlists have only the six DLC maps in rotation.
Beachhead Studios announced today that Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox 360 will be getting two new maps tomorrow.
The makers of Call of Duty Elite, Beachhead Studios, revealed on Facebook that “Sanctuary and Foundation maps arrive tomorrow for Xbox 360 ELITE Premium members.”
Update: Images of the two maps have been posted on the content calendar along with their descriptions:
Sanctuary
“Suspended in the air one thousand feet up, you’ll battle more than altitude in the towering sandstone monasteries of Central Greece. Formed over millions of years, this sanctuary’s natural rock pillars have repelled invading armies and withstood the ravages of time but now they’ll face your deployment. Test your skills—and the ancient monks’ craftsmanship—with your arsenal of SMG’s, assault rifles and shotguns. Just remember: don’t look down.”
Foundation
“Journey into the heart of South Korea for a decommissioned concrete factory where the cement flows and bullets fly. After decades of constructing roads and buildings, the towering facility is now a perfectly-constructed combat zone for sniping and run-and-gun rules of engagement. Don’t stand in awe of the towering concrete crusher at the center of the factory unless you want to see your kill ratio meet the same fate.”
We expect ‘Collection 1’ playlists to be changed back to Elite playlists to accommodate the new maps.
Sanctuary and Foundation will mark the seventh and eight DLC drops for Modern Warfare 3 so far. 24 drops in total have been promised.
Throughout last year, you might have heard of a Gears of War project being made for Kinect, it turns out an unannounced Gears project, called Gears of War: Exile, was in the works at some point. However, the project has been put aside.
Speaking to GameSpot, Epic Games’ design director, Cliff Bleszinski, has decided to “bury the hatchet.” He explained, “Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled.”
The game was believed to be an on-rails Kinect title that was supposed to be announced at E3 last year.
Are you disappointed to learn that the project was cancelled? I guess not.

On Twitter, David Vonderhaar of Treyarch asked his followers, specifically addressing Call of Duty tournament players, “if the HQ points rotated in a predictable order (not random picking) would you be able to play it competitively?” He added as a follow up, “would you want the locations close together … or spread out?”
Many agreed but contested that HQ can’t be competitive as long as one team spawns closer to the objective than the other. Vonderhaar did countered that “their is always a time till next point is able to be captured,” and also that “most competitive maps are small-medium in the first place.”
Some added that HQ would be much more competitive if it were to include rounds. This would mean that if one team were to spawn closer to a particular objective, at least it would even out in the second round. When asked if it was possible, Vonderhaar replied, “rounds are doable.” He also suggested, “don’t you think a lot of [the problems] could be mitigate by shorter HQ lifetimes, short 30 second set-uptime, and round-based game?”
If Vonderhaar were to draw from these conclusions, HQ in “Black Ops 2” could see round-based HQ matches as well as shorter HQ lifetimes.
Do you think HQ would become more competitive with these settings and would you be more inclined to play it in “Black Ops 2?” Let us know in the comments below!

Update: CoDInform has informed us of yet another leaked Black Ops 2 image, this time with the additional subtitle, “Reveal Trailer is Coming.” In our eyes, this one seems rather fake as the subtitle itself is of a different quality than that of the font used for “Black Ops 2” and “04.28.12.” Check out the image below to judge for yourself.
Original Story: Another Call of Duty: Black Ops leak! This time, it seems to be the official logo for Treyarch’s upcoming Call of Duty title, Black Ops 2, including a potential release date for its debut trailer.
This time, YouTuber CoDInform was able to catch what looks to be Black Ops 2’s logo which we’ve included above as the featured image. Three reasons it could possibly be legitimate: First, it looks professional; Second, it was removed from the official Call of Duty website upon discovery; Third, if you look at the date in this image, 04.28.12, it happens to be the exact date of two years earlier that the original Black Ops reveal trailer was released.
On top of this, the original URL linking to this image read ‘http://www.callofduty.com/bo2/images,’ which happens to be a similar URL used for Modern Warfare 3 images:
If it does turn out to be fake, at least this one was rather well researched. So, props to whoever created it. If it is real, expect a reveal trailer of Black Ops 2 this month on the 28th!
