Assassin’s Creed Mirage Stealth Guide Shows Off Tools, Skill Trees, and Notoriety

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is only a few days away. Before you hop into the 20-30 hour game, you might be interested in a few tips and tricks delivered straight from Ubisoft themselves. The latest Assassin’s Creed Mirage stealth guide provides players with some useful information for killing from the shadows.

You can watch the deep dive here:

Here are our biggest takeaways from the video.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Stealth Features:

Assassin Tools

Players have access to six useful tools. These tools are accessed via a weapon wheel and can also be quickly used by holding the left trigger and pressing one of the face buttons.

  • Throwing Knife – This is a light knife useful for eliminating guards at close or medium range.
  • Noisemaker – The noisemaker is a small explosive that distracts and lures nearby guards when thrown.
  • Trap – This nonlethal proximity explosive knocks enemies down and creates an opening for assassins.
  • Smoke Bomb – The smoke bomb returns and releases a thick cloud of smoke that obscures vision.
  • Blowdart – This silent projectile puts targets to sleep nonlethally.
  • Torch – The torch is useful for helping you see in dark places.

These tools can be upgraded by one of the Bana Musa brothers at any Hidden One’s Bureau. Upgrading costs resources, which reside in loot containers throughout Baghdad. Players can also gain resources via contract completion.

Skill Trees

There are three skill trees in the game: Phantom, Trickster, and Predator. Each focuses on a different aspect of Basim’s assassin abilities. In order to get a head start on stealth, here are the perks that Ubisoft recommends:

  • Extra Tool Capacity – This increases tool capacity from 3 to 6, allowing Basim to carry all 6 assassin tools at once.
  • Chain Assassination – With this perk, players can kill multiple targets in quick succession to avoid detection in more heavily-patrolled areas.
  • Pathfinder – With the Pathfinder perk, Basim’s eagle Enkidu marks extra objects such as loot containers, hiding spots, and more.

Putting skill points into Assassin’s Focus will also enhance your stealth abilities. Assassin’s Focus is a new feature that works similarly to Red Dead Redemption’s dead eye, allowing Basim to target multiple enemies before flashing between them to kill them in a split second.

Notoriety and Hiding in Plain Sight

Assassin’s Creed Mirage features a new notoriety system with multiple levels. Causing mayhem and getting detected by guards increase Basim’s notoriety. This culminates with three levels of consequence:

  • Level 1 – Citizens will recognize Basim and point him out to guards.
  • Level 2 – Archers begin manning the rooftops, ready to shoot parkour-hungry assassins.
  • Level 3 – The Interceptor, a member of the elite guard, will hunt you down and attempt to kill you.

Players can lower their notoriety by taking down wanted posters, bribing Munadi, or defeating the Interceptor. Of course, it’s better to avoid notoriety entirely by remaining hidden. Classic Assasin’s Creed features like blending in with the crowd and hiding in haystacks return with this game, meaning players most familiar with the old ways should have an easier go of things.

With that, you’re as ready as you can be to enter the world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Reviews drop on October 4, and you can get the exact details for your time zone here. We’ll have a review up ourselves, so stay tuned in to read it.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches on October 5 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Modern Warfare 3 Gunsmith Aftermarket Parts Explained, Sample Loadouts Revealed

We’ve received all new intel regarding the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Gunsmith and its new features. MW3’s looking to overhaul a substantial part of the Gunsmith with features like Aftermarket Parts and an improved attachment unlocking system. We’ve got all the details here, so let’s jump into it.

Modern Warfare 3 Gunsmith Aftermarket Parts Explained:

For starters, we’ve got a brief rundown on some enhancements coming to the Gunsmith:

Gunsmith Enhancements and Quality-of-Life Improvements

The new Gunsmith is bringing additional innovations to the overall weapons system. These include more shared attachments and the removal of certain penalties when equipping small Optics.

  • Attachment Unlocks – For new Modern Warfare III weapons, attachments such as Grips, Barrels, Magazines, and Stocks will no longer require players to use a specific weapon after they’ve already been unlocked for another one. For example, the Assault Stock attachment is available for both the AMR9 SMG (at Level 8) and the Riveter Shotgun (at Level 12). If your AMR9 is already progressed to Level 8 or higher, the Stock will be available on the Riveter immediately, and vice versa.
  • 1x Optic Attachments – As opposed to their counterparts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, new 1x zoom Optic attachments will no longer penalize your Operator’s Aim Down Sights speed, allowing faster target acquisition when using these sights.

These two seemingly minor updates are actually a pretty big deal. With new 1x optics, players will no longer have to choose between sacrificing ADS speed or using terrible iron sights. Additionally, the new attachment unlock system streamlines the entire unlock process. Both of these changes seem greatly beneficial to the overall MW3 experience.

Modern Warfare 3 Gunsmith Aftermarket Loadouts

Gunsmith functions much in the same way it does in Modern Warfare II. Players still gain Weapon XP to unlock attachments for a specific weapon and its associated Weapons Platform, in addition to gaining alternative progression routes at launch. You can choose from familiar attachment options like the Barrel, Muzzle, Magazine, Optic, Laser, Rear Grip and more to create the optimal version of each weapon, depending on your playstyle.

For certain weapons that reach max level, players will be able to transform their design using Aftermarket Parts. At launch, Modern Warfare III will feature several sets of Aftermarket Parts, which take the form of Conversion Kits. To access these kits, you’ll need to complete in-game challenges that become available once the supported weapon obtains max level. Finish that final challenge, and the Conversion Kit is yours. Consider it the final, impressive reward for finishing a weapon’s progression path.

Here’s an Intel Drop from the MW3 team detailing the new Aftermarket Parts feature:

To give you a better idea of the kinds of changes Aftermarket Parts bring to a weapon, here are three Conversion Kit examples, beginning with the bullpup LMG conversion mentioned in the video. The examples shown below also come paired with example attachments to give an idea of how you can further customize your weapon’s lethality in the field in conjunction with Aftermarket Parts.

modern warfare 3 gunsmith

Aftermarket Parts Loadout #1: Pulemyot LMG

Transform this belt-fed machine gun with the Bullpup Conversion Kit, greatly increasing the weapon’s mobility and handling, rate of fire, and recoil off the hip and when in Tac-Stance. What was once a behemoth weapon can now be used to run and gun without giving up the LMG’s deep ammo reserves.

modern warfare 3 gunsmith

  • Aftermarket Parts Loadout #2: Renetti Handgun with Full-Auto Carbine

Through use of 3D-printed parts, you can convert the burst-fire Renetti into a full-auto Handgun reminiscent of an SMG. Gain increased bullet velocity, range, and rate of fire at the cost of some mobility and recoil control. The conversion also supports Tactical Stance, unavailable with the base model, offering greater options in how you approach each fight.

modern warfare 3 gunsmith

  • Aftermarket Parts Loadout #3: WSP Swarmwith Akimbo Brace Stocks

Add additional support to the weapon’s frame, allowing Operators to place one WSP Swarm in each hand for an aggressive Akimbo stance that sacrifices some damage range and mobility for the advantage of overwhelming your opponents with a rain of fire. With dual weapons, you’ll no longer be able to aim down sights, so get up close and make it count.

As you can see, these Aftermarket Parts can completely transform a weapon from one thing to another, adding all sorts of layers to gun customization. We hope to see even more kits that really enable players to get silly with their loadouts.

COD Next is coming up on Thursday and its sure to include loads of juicy details regarding MW3. You can see the schedule for the event and upcoming betas here. We’ll be following all the news closely here at MP1st, so stay tuned.

If you’re still grinding away at MW2, take a look the latest updates from Season 6. You can check those out here.

Fallout 76 Atlantic City Release Date Revealed for December 5: Locations and Factions Detailed

Get ready for a new wasteland: the Fallout 76 Atlantic City release date has just been revealed to be December 5.the team at Bethesda gave players some key details about the places and people you’ll interact with when you arrive on the boardwalks of New Jersey.

There’s a new developer diary out as well if you’re interested in getting some behind-the-scenes information:

Here are some more details about the world of Atlantic City:

  • Living Lavishly – Atlantic City has something that many other locations don’t: running water and electricity. Due to its existence as a tourist location, it was lucky enough to avoid most of the bombing and retain most of its magic. The Casino here runs like a charm, and the city as a whole stands in stark contrast to the wilderness of West Virginia.
  • Factions, Factions, Factions – Atlantic City features three central factions, including the boardwalk administrators The Munis, a crime ring called The Family, and a gaggle of entertainers known as The Showmen. Each faction will be part of their own Expedition for players to experience.
  • Something Wicked This Way Comes – Just outside of city outskirts, the notorious New Jersey Pine Barrens house new devilish creatures waiting to get their hands on unsuspecting visitors. Be extremely careful wandering out in the dark.

It’s always fun to see Fallout head to a new location. Atlantic City is a perfect place to visit after hours and hours of exploring Appalachia. Hopefully it delivers more quality hours of content for players to enjoy.

PC players can visit Atlantic City today via the Public Test Server. Otherwise, players will be able to tread the boardwalk when the update releases publicly on December 5.

If you’re a big Bethesda fan, check out our review of Starfield here. We called it “a deep and prosperous universe filled with endless possibilities and limitless potential,” albeit with a few issues.

High on Life: High on Knife Review – Too Short to Stab

High on Life is back with a new adventure, High on Knife! Centered around the very talkative and Australian accent knife, Knifey, players will explore his original story while also meeting some new friends along the way. It’s time to get stabby in our High on Knife review!

Stabby Stabby

After saving the universe from the clutches of the G3 Cartel, our hero bounty hunter and their arsenal of talking weapons once more find themselves at the service of the galaxy, hunting down its most wanted criminals. Thus, another epic, long, and bloody-filled tale of hunting down bounties and saving the galaxy begins once agai– oh wait, it turns out we already did all that and lost one of our guns along the way (Kenny, you can probably guess why) but also gained a new one, who’s voiced by Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live). I guess it’s time to return home and finally take that long-deserved break from being a hero.

At least that’s what we thought, as upon arriving back home, Gene, our bounty hunter mentor, informs us that a package had missed its delivery. And who is this package for? Well, for good ole Knifey, who, after learning of the package, discovers that it was sent from his lost homeworld. This is where your new journey begins, as you embark with Knifey and company to retrieve the package so that Knifey can reunite again with his colony of knives.

It’s a story that’ll see you venture to new locations, and like the original game, you can expect a ton of dark and sickening humor with every piece of dialogue. Though if you thought High on Life went a bit far in its humor and visuals, I’d argue that High of Knife up the antics to the point that even I had to stare away. That’s sort of the point of it, and like the base game before, this definitely won’t be for everyone, though if you liked High on Life, you’ll undoubtedly like the DLC.

And if you did, well, you’ll have even more to look forward to in this DLC, as there are new weapons that are just as obscure as the others. Knifey even gets a chainsaw upgrade, turning you into the Doom Slayer himself as you rip through enemies, sawing them in half with brutal new executions that are complete blood baths. A new pinball gun (dubbed B.A.L.L.) will have weird blue naked aliens perched on top of it, loading in a silver pinball that can bounce back and forth, heating up until the ball combusts. These aliens talk, though don’t expect to understand them as they speak a language that sounds gibberish.

The new planet is home to Salt Lick City, inhabited by slug-like creatures. It’s large but surprisingly linear, with the suit having access to a new boosted slide ability that lets you ride all over the terrain, giving you some much-needed mobility.

Sadly, as fun as all the new content is, it’s restricted to the DLC and never truly feels realized, as the campaign itself is short, if not rushed.

Just how short of a campaign? Well, I beat it in a little less than two hours. It’s DLC, so expecting a full-length adventure probably wasn’t in everyone’s thoughts anyway. Still, while playing through it, it did come as a surprise just how short it ended up being, as it sets itself to seem to be a large adventure and then sort of just rushed things in the second hour with it coming to an abrupt end. It has a conclusion and sees Knifey’s journey all the way through, but the conclusion is hardly one I call satisfying unless you like it when things go all meta and wall-breaking. It’s cool for the humor of it, but even the High on Life base campaign gave you enough closure. I’m not entirely sure what happened at the end here.

At least after the campaign, you can go off and explore the new planet and mop up any side missions and collectibles. But again, it’s not much.

The DLC drops tomorrow, and I can’t even tell you how much it will cost, as nothing has been announced outside of it being paid content, but hey, if it’s cheap enough, then I’d say it could be worth the buy. Otherwise, it’d be a hard sell even to fans of the original. As much as I am glad to see DLC happen, as I loved High on Life, I wish this DLC spent longer in the oven, possibly even evolving into a sequel. Hopefully, that’s still in the mix. Otherwise, this is a rather low-on-life note to end.

Score: 6.5/10

Pros

  • New locations that are visually fun to look at.
  • New weapons are great additions.
  • The jokes may not be for everyone, but I’m a fan of Squanch Game’s dark humor.
  • It’s more of the same, so if you loved the first game, you’ll love High on Knife.

Cons

  • Its campaign is short, with the ending feeling rushed.
  • New weapons are strictly for the DLC.

High on Knife review code was provided by the publisher. You can read MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

This was revealed by Insomniac Games Director of Community and Marketing James Stevenson over on Twitter in answering concerns from a now-deleted tweet.

It’s not an accessibility setting. Its the opposite of that.

For instance – there are 10 levels of Swing Assistance on that slider. The game starts at the default (from the previous games!) is Level 10. So it’s a feature we let players turn down to get /less/ assistance if they want.

While most people might just leave it on default to be able to enjoy swinging as efficient as possible, I can see some gamers taking on the challenge and turning it down for a more “realistic” feel.

Would you slide down swing assist in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Sound off and let us know/

In other Spider-Man 2 news, Insomniac Games has also confirmed that fall damage can be toggled on/off as well. Couple that with swing assist turned all the way down, and you have one challenging trek across the New York skyline.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swings out on PS5 this October 18.

XDefiant Movement Speed Hasn’t Been Changed Reaffirms Devs, Game Will Run on Google Servers

Just a few days ago, Ubisoft held a public test session for XDefiant that had anyone with a capable PC play the game before release post the beta. One of the things some players have noticed is how the XDefiant movement speed seems to have been adjusted compared to the beta.

If you played the beta and thought the movement speed and whatnot was fine, you’ll be glad to know that the movement wasn’t adjusted or even touched at all. This was confirmed by XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin, who went on Twitter to confirm this bit of info.

In addition to that, Rubin also confirmed that XDefiant will use Google servers, which apparently doesn’t cover South Africa currently (a bummer for would-be XDefiant players in the area).

It’s refreshing to see how Rubin has been quite active in engaging with the community in answering concerns about the game. Let’s just remember that we don’t need to be a pain in the ass when talking to devs and people connected to the game. I mean, this is also why some game devs would rather not interact with game fans given the hostility.

In other XDefiant news, Rubin has also shared that they have content for XDefiant planned for “man years to come.”

XDefiant still has no firm release date yet, but per the devs, is expected to be released in the first half of October.

Alan Wake 2 Music Has Been Taken to the “Next Level,” Expect “Cool” Stuff Done With It, According to Remedy

While music in games hasn’t been talked about nearly enough as it should, Remedy aims to change that with Alan Wake 2, as the upcoming horror game has some “cool” stuff done with its music and audio according to the developers.

Speaking to MP1st, game director Kyle Rowley mentions how they used end-of-episode sequences in Alan Wake 1, but they’ve taken it to “the next level” in Alan Wake 2.

MP1st: How have you approached the music for this game? How does it compare and contrast with the first one? That one already had memorable music and set pieces like the jukebox in the diner.

Kyle Rowley – I think that across Remedies’ games, music has been important. In Alan Wake 1 we had end-of-episode sequences where we had like licensed music. The same goes for Quantum Break. Obviously in Control, we had the ashtray maze, and we tried to use music in interesting ways outside of just being music. We try and create an emotional response, and that’s definitely the case for Alan Wake 2. We’re not talking too much about what we have in store for players for this game in terms of music, but there is cool stuff. I would say we’ve taken it to the next level.

Stay tuned to our full interview with Remedy hitting the site soon. In the meantime, go read up on our hands-on preview of the game to see how it’s shaping up.

Alan Wake 2 is set for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 27.

Modern Warfare 3 Beta File Size for PS5 Revealed, Possible Renaming of MW2 Client

While we already know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is kicking off its beta this October, we now know the Modern Warfare 3 beta file size as well, at least for the PS5 version.

Revealed by reliable data scraper PlayStation Game Size, the MW3 beta file size for the PS5 is at 24GB. There are two packs for the beta, with one acting as the license checker.

Modern Warfare 3 Beta File Size for PS5:

Modern Warfare III – Beta Pack 01
Download Size (PS5) : 24.813 GB

Modern Warfare III – Beta Pack 02
Download Size (PS5) : 1 MB (license checker)

At least now PS5 players will know how much space they need to clear in their harddrives.

In related news, Modern Warfare 2 will also be getting an update soon (probably this coming week), and while we don’t know what it’s for exactly, it seems it will change the base game client’s name from Modern Warfare 2, to just being “Call of Duty.”

Odds are, this patch will house gameplay adjustments, bug fixes and the like, but this re-naming suggests that something more is part of the patch, and is most likely related to Warzone.

Stay tuned to Modern Warfare 3 beta details to make its way out this coming week. Once we know more about that, and the patch, we’ll let our readers know.
