Report: Fortnite First-Person Mode Incoming According to Datamine

Fortnite recently made headlines when it added a mode with its flagship building mechanics stripped out, completely changing how the game plays. But, the developers at Epic Games weren’t done there, as a new Fortnite first-person camera has been found in the battle royale’s code.

The camera was found by known Fortnite player and credible dataminer/leaker Hypex on Twitter. Hypex’s tweet came with a screenshot of the perspective that looks pretty legit. The tweet claims that the camera mode was first introduced to the game’s code with the most recent update, which means that it likely won’t come to the game for a little while yet, potentially next season.

Exactly what the developers have in mind for the first-person perspective, or whether or not it will eventually make it into the game, is not clear. However, it does seem likely that the mode will be added eventually, as Fortnite has a strong history of experimenting and incorporating new mechanics and features with its seasonal updates.

If the mode is added it will likely be an optional mode and seems as though it would be a good addition to modes that don’t feature building as that may be difficult to do in the new perspective. It also is possible that it could be incorporated as part of the game’s story to change up the gameplay before adding it as an optional mode for players who enjoy it.

Fortnite is available now on Android, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Back 4 Blood Update 1.08 Brings Full Deck Draw Feature & More This June 7

Turtle Rock Studios has released Back 4 Blood update 1.08 (PS5 version 1.000.008) on all platforms, and this brings the Full Deck Draw feature for cards, being able to kick party members, and more! Check out the Back 4 Blood June 7 patch notes below.

Back 4 Blood Update 1.08 Brings | Back 4 Blood Update 1.000.008 Patch Notes | Back 4 Blood June 7 Patch Notes:

NEW FEATURES:

  • Full Deck Draw
    • Play all 15 cards from your deck at the start of a Campaign for all difficulties.
    • Developer Note: We felt like the 15 card draw in No Hope went over well with the community, and wanted to roll out this option to all difficulties. In the future we are considering adding multiple deck styles like ordered draw and full random decks. Some difficulties have been rebalanced to work better with this feature.
  • Player Kicking
    • The new Player Kicking system identifies and allows kicking from a Mission when a Cleaner is idle for too long or deals too much friendly fire damage.
    • Developer Note: We discussed this feature at length to try and do what’s best for the community, so we want to try this conditional kick feature that will only trigger if someone is playing outside the bounds of the game. We also feel that the traditional Vote to Kick can be exploitable and toxic. This feature is not final and we will be monitoring it closely.
  • New banners, sprays, and emblems
  • 12 New Burn Cards
  • New Warped Chest Corruption Cards
  • New Cleaner skins
  • Legendary Accessories
  • A more detailed breakdown of Supply Points, Copper, and Skull Totems is now present on the post-round screen.

CAMPAIGN UPDATES:

  • General
    • Weapon drops have been rebalanced to better scale with the Full Deck Draw feature.
    • A toolkit can now be used to unlock a free heal from a First Aid Cabinet.
    • Improvements made to movement smoothing when an item or weapon is dropped.
    • Removed damage rounding up to 1.0 so damage from smaller sources can be properly reduced, such as acid pools.
    • Silence Snitchers accomplishment reduced to 100 Snitchers from 1,000.
    • Minor adjustments made to some collision areas in Ridden Hives to prevent items from spawning underground or in inaccessible locations.
    • The Devil’s Return: The Crossing
      • A ‘Plant C4’ icon has been added to distinguish bomb pick up locations from bomb plant locations.
    • The Dark Before the Dawn: Special Delivery
      • Finding the Supply Crate now prompts an Objective Complete sound to play.
    • Dr. Rogers’ Neighborhood: Cabins by the Lake
      • Picking up the battery for the first time now prompts an Objective Complete sound to play.
  • Cleaner Updates
    • Heng’s item drop rate has been adjusted based on damage taken.
      • At 5 damage there is a 10% chance.
      • At 50 damage there is a 20% chance.
      • At greater than 50 damage there is a 33% chance.
    • Holly’s abilities have been refactored.
      • Developer Note: We thought that Holly’s abilities limited her potential roles within the party, so we changed her so she’s more versatile. Her old stamina gain ability has been added back to Adrenaline Fueled.
      • Ability changed to 1 health restored on kill (previously 10 stamina on kill).
      • No longer gains stamina on kill.
    • Added Warped Ridden VO callouts for all Cleaners.
  • General Card Updates
    • Starter Deck updated to match with the new Full Deck Draw feature. It now also contains:
      • 3 Health
      • 3 Ammo
      • 2 Stamina
      • 2 Fortune
    • Intel in Chapters has been adjusted to the following:
      • Developer Note: This is to switch the other difficulties into a No Hope format, starting out easier and gaining difficulty as you continue to play through.
      • All difficulties now have 3 Random Intel per Chapter, previously 1.
      • Non-No Hope difficulties now have 1 Basic Intel per Chapter, previously .4.
      • No Hope difficulty now has 1 Basic Intel per Chapter, previously 2.
    • Adrenaline Fueled
      • Now gives 5 stamina on kill in addition to its previous effect.

Apex Legends Update 1.97 Flies Out This June 7 (Update)

Respawn Entertainment has released Apex Legends update 1.97, and this is an unannounced title update for the free-to-play shooter, so don’t expect anything big outside of fixes. Read on for the Apex Legends June 7 patch notes.

Apex Legends Update 1.97 Patch Notes | Apex Legends June 7 Patch Notes:

Size: 1GB

Update: Respawn has released the official patch notes!

  • Improper Ranked rewards: the correct dive trails, holosprays, gun charms and badges will start rolling out to players throughout the day.
  • IMC Armories exploits related to clipping through the roof, a mantling bug after teleporting in and various script errors.
  • Fixing the occasional server-wide thud sound related to Newcastle’s ultimate.
  • Resolving next-gen Xbox audio distorion.

Respawn has not commented on the title update for today just yet, and on the PS4’s update history, it states that the patch is for “Stability Improvements and Bug Fixes,” which is the placeholder text almost every game dev uses for their in-console patch notes.

On the game’s official Trello board, here are the issues Respawn is investigating:

Coming in future patch/Investigating:

  • Some players are reporting echo-y/strange audio unless Console audio is set to “Stereo Uncompressed”
  • Xbox – some headsets not picking up the players mic.

Investigating:

  • Reports of players not receiving coins after purchase.

Once the official patch notes have been released, or if there’s anything that the community shares as feedback, we’ll update the post. If you spot anything, be it gameplay-related or whatnot, leave a comment below to let us know.

Update: Post has been updated with official patch notes.

      • You can see other Survivors’ Scratch Marks within a 32 meters range of you. Whenever another Survivor loses a health state within a 32 meters range of you, the Killer’s aura is revealed to you for 3/4/5 seconds.
    • New Perk: Residual Manifest
      • After a successful Killer Blind action, the Killer is affected by the Blindness status effect for 20/25/30 seconds. This perk grants the ability to rummage through an opened chest once per Trial and will guarantee a basic Flashlight.
    • New Perk: Overzealous
      • After cleansing any totem, this perk activates. Your generator repair speed is increased by 4%/5%/6%. This Perk deactivates when you lose a health state by any means.

New General Killer Perk – Shattered Hope

  • When you destroy a Boon Totem this way, the auras of all Survivors inside the Boon Totem range are revealed to you for 6/7/8 seconds.
  • UI
    • Layout change to the Main Menu – Allows more room to gaze longingly into the campfire.
    • Menu movement when using a Controller has been removed across all screens.
  • Presets – For Loadouts & Customizations
    • The ability to save your favorite Loadout builds and Customizations has been added to the Loadout and Customizations menus respectively.
  • The Ghost Face
    • Reworked Add-on – Driver’s License
      • When Marking a Survivor repairing a generator, the generator explodes and loses 20% progress. The affected generator becomes blocked for 15 seconds. When Marking multiple Survivors at the same time, the loss of progress only applies once.
  • The Pig
    • Added an extra Jigsaw Box to all matches
    • Survivors are guaranteed to find the key for their Reverse Beartrap at a maximum of 4 boxes searched (It can still be found sooner, but you will never need to search more than 4 boxes)
    • The box system has been adjusted to be more consistent overall and have a slightly higher average number of searches needed, from 2.5 to 3 (Yes, this is a buff)

Dev Note: Some Pig players have been camping out in front of the final Jigsaw Box, blocking a survivor from being able to get rid of their Reverse Beartrap. With these changes, this strategy will no longer work! We also tweaked the way box searches are determined to prevent extreme cases of very few searches / too many searches, as well as a small buff to the average number of searches required to escape the Reverse Beartrap. Overall, this should make the boxes more consistent and slightly more powerful for The Pig.

  • Miscellaneous
    • Changed the text for Entity Displeased on the tally screen. It now reads “The Entity Hungers…”
    • Added a warning message in the Custom Games Lobby to indicate that matches do not count toward Achievements.
    • Updated desktop icon.

  • “Twisted Masquerade” 6th Anniversary limited-time event (starting June 16th 11AM ET)
  •  Archives
    • Twisted Masquerade event tome (also starting June 16th 11AM ET)
    • Fixed the localization of the Green Glyph challenge description text to better clarify the spawn rules and aura reveal information.
    • Added a timer to the Main Menu indicating time remaining until the Rift closes.
  • New Map: Garden of Joy

Battlefield 2042 Player Profile Stat Page and Big Portal Update Planned to Drop During Season One

It looks like we have even more updates to look forward to during Season 1 of Battlefield 2042, as DICE have confirmed that there are a bunch in the works, with notable ones revolving around the much-requested Battlefield 2042 player profile stat page, as well as to Battlefield Portal too.

In the Q&A session during the closed press event that we were invited to, DICE confirmed a number of things relating to the first season of Battlefield 2042. Amongs them, were questions to what the team had planned in terms of content drops, and while they aren’t ready to reveal the exact specifics of everything, DICE did confirm that the Battlefield 2042 player profile state page is finally coming, with plans to launch it with the second Season 1 update. And the best part? It’s been tracking stats since launch!

Alexia Christofi (Associate Producer): Nothing to confirm on smaller weapon updates but we certainly have a bunch of updates that we have planned between season one and two. Player profile is a good example, Player profile stats page is coming in the second update for season one, so that will give players a chance to look back at their previous performance. We’ve been recording the stats the whole time, so don’t worry when you start to look at those stats you will see everything from the launch of the game. We have a bunch of portal improvements coming as well. We certainly got plans for with the season. It’s not just a drop at the beginning of the season and then drop at season 2 for example.

As for drops related to Battlefield Portal, Game Producer Nika Bender later confirmed that a big update to Portal is currently planned.

In season one later on you will have a big update to Portal. There will be additional hardware, additional builder tools. We are going to continue expanding on the Portal builder as well as the content that you can use to create the experiences. We are going to continue expanding on Portal.

Senior Producer Ryan Mcarthur also had this regarding content for Portal during Season 1.

When it comes to new content from Portal there’s going to be new vehicles, new hardware coming as part of Season One. There will be new content coming for the existing years we have in the game. As for new eras that we’re looking at, we haven’t decided where to go, we’re not ready to communicate what the plans are there, but definitely Portal from a gamep[lay perspective is a big part of our game… we definitely see it as a big part of our live service.

Luckily, the fact sheet provided from the company did give us a bit more as it confirmed that Superiority mode will be amongst the toolset added in an update. Yes, you read right and it seems that Air Superiority is returning, though this being tied to Portal its likely we will see the mode feature a number of different types of setups. I, for one, cannot wait to to see what the community builds with these new rule logics once they’re live later in the season.

Sticking to the subject of Battlefield Portal, for those hoping to see if one of these updates would bring over the promised Portal weapons to All-Out War, we have some bad news as we were told during the Q&A that the team doesn’t have a date yet, nor should players expect to see that update during Season 1. The big reasoning is that they don’t want to just throw the weapons in there as in, they’re exploring the best way possible to bring them in.

Battlefield 2042 Support Has No End Date; DICE Currently Has Four Seasons Planned

It seems that DICE isn’t planning on moving away from Battlefield 2042 support anytime soon, as the studio has once again reaffirmed their commitment to making it the best possible game it can be.

Speaking during the Q&A session of the Season 1: Zero Hour Battlefield 2042 press preview event that we were invited to, Senior Producer Ryan McArthur had this to say pertaining to how long they’ll continue to support Battlefield 2042.

This game for us is a live game, we have four seasons planned right now but we want to keep this game going. We want to keep people playing this game, we want to make this game the best we can possibly make it. We don’t have a end date for this particular game.

To elaborate a bit more, each season is scheduled to run a minimum of 12 weeks, or roughly three months per season. This means that the studio has at least one continuous year of seasonal content planned to launch for Battlefield 2042, though judging from Ryan’s statement, they have no plans of stopping at the end of season four.

That is certainly good news, regardless of how you may feel about the current state of Battlefield 2042, the team is, at least, pushing out things they have learned from the feedback to try and make it the game fans wanted it to be, which of course is something that the team is hoping that players will see with the launch of Season One Zero Hour later this week.

The big one for me is we think that Zero Hour’s goal is to show our players the potential that this game has. If I could bring everyone who worked on this season, to show everybody how much effort, how much time to make this as good as it can be, I would love to. What we want players to see is how much the studio here, and the studio at Ripple Effect, everybody who worked on Battlefield , how much they’re committed to this game, how much they want this to be good, and I think when you play this content you’ll feel it. We hope to see this week that players can really feel that, that’s the goal we really set out when we really pushed forward with the season.

Players won’t have long to wait, and if not, should already be able to experience some of those changes as the Season 1 update began rolling out earlier today. As for when the season officially kicks off to play the new map and other season related content, that’ll all be available this Thursday.
