Ghost of Tsushima Update 2.008 Rides Out This September 2 (Update)

Sucker Punch Productions has released the Ghost of Tsushima update 2.008 (PS4 version 2.08), and this is for the Rivals update set for release for the game’s multiplayer mode, Legends! Check out more info about it below.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 2.008 Patch Notes | Ghost of Tsushima Update 2.08 Patch Notes:

Patch Size: 1.7GB (PS4), 2GB (PS5)

Sucker Punch has revealed what’s in today’s patch:

Patch 2.08 for #GhostOfTsushima Director’s Cut is now live. This patch improves the load time for viewing cosmetics in menus on PS5, restores color button prompts, plus various Legends adjustments and additional bug fixes.

Heads on below for what you can expect from the new content coming in Legends tomorrow.

While Sucker Punch hasn’t released the official patch notes yet, here’s the known content of Rivals and the info released about it so far.

In Rivals, two teams of two will compete to defeat waves of enemies. With each defeated foe, you’ll collect Magatama that you can use to harm the other team. For example, you can spend Magatama on Shades to block your opponents’ purchases, Curses (health drain, exploding bodies, etc), Hwacha fire, and more. Once you’ve spent enough Magatama, you’ll unlock Final Stand waves. Complete these before the opposing team to win!

The game update for the Legends mode will be free, and will include new cosmetics, Trophies and more! Here’s what we wrote for it when it was announced last month:

Alongside the release of Rivals is the new Gear Mastery system. This is a new chapter of the progression and rewards for Legends. Players who’ve earned 110-level gear will now be able to bind it to a class and activate “Mastery Challenges” that will allow a gear’s Ki level to be upgraded to 120, and eventually unlock a second perk slot! As players activate these Challenges, they will alos be able to unlock a new Ability and new Techniques for each class!

Once Sucker Punch releases the official patch notes, we’ll be sure to update the post

Motive Studio’s Dead Space Dev Showcase Is How Game Announcements Should Be Featured

Yesterday, EA’s Motive Studio went on the virtual stage to give us our first proper reveal for the upcoming Dead Space remake. While not a lot of gameplay was shown, it was the intent and how Motive Studio featured a sneak peek in the game that has me intrigued.

Usually, when a game gets revealed or announced, we get a teaser for the teaser trailer, and then we wait weeks or months for a proper gameplay look. This has been how the industry has operated for the past few years, and people have learned to expect it for almost every major (AAA) game.

However, for Dead Space, this was not the case. Motive Studios hosted a stream that roped in members of the Dead Space community, and disclosed that players were about to see “very, very, very, very” (per the devs) early footage of the game, though they wanted to share how development has been. This is a huge departure from the endless teases, hype, and non-stop countdowns for almost every game from a publisher these days. If you think about it, it’s surprising to think that EA, one of the industry’s biggest publishers, agreed to do this in the first place.

Motive Studio ran the risk of players everywhere judging the game based on the scant footage that was released, and thus, losing any potential sales. However, here on MP1st, the staff has universally agreed that what Motive Studios did was a step in the right direction — not only for the game, but for the industry as a whole. Instead of endless secrets, non-stop leaks due to said secrets, Motive instead gave players a behind-the-scenes look at how they are shaping Isaac Clarke’s remade journey into space (and madness).

What’s interesting here is, if this continues, and I’m hoping it will, this means that we, as gamers, might be getting a more realistic look at game development, and in some instances, tempered expectations when it comes to visuals, improvements, and release dates. Motive has not mentioned when the Dead Space remake will be released other than sometime in 2022, but given what we’ve seen yesterday, I doubt gamers would be up in arms if the studio announced that the game won’t be ready until Q2 or Q3 in 2022 at the earliest.

However, imagine the counterpoint on how most games are marketed these days. We get a teaser trailer or a video with what’s supposed to be some awesome-looking gameplay, which ends with the game’s release date. More often than not, these target dates are almost always missed, and players are left in the dark on what’s happening to the development.

While this move by Motive does, in no way, guarantee that the game will be a success or give the original game justice, it is a bold step for the studio, and one I hope pays off, so that we’ll see more publishers follow suit. Isn’t it time that instead of hiding everything from gamers, and the community, that we’re all given a little bit more access to the creation process itself?

We might not see another studio or publisher allow a developer sneak peek for an unreleased game again in this capacity, and if so, I just wanted to make sure that my voice be heard that we want more of these, instead of the countless teases, countdown timers and whatnot.

Do you want more game reveals to be done this way, or do you prefer the more traditional reveal trailer to gameplay reveal hype up? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments.

Dead Space will be released for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2022.

CDPR Strongly Believes in “Long-Term Potential” of Cyberpunk 2077 Brand

In CD Projekt RED’s latest shareholders call, president Adam Kiciński has clarified multiple points for Cyberpunk 2077, and where the game currently stands. During the call, the company reiterated their stance on ensuring that the game is supported for “as long as necessary,” until it eventually becomes the product they originally promised it to be.

Adding to this, Kiciński also maintained their belief in the “long-term potential” of the Cyberpunk 2077 brand; you can read the statement in its entirety below.

“The next-gen version is an important step in our adventure in the Cyberpunk universe. As I said before, we strongly believe in the long-term potential of this IP. That’s why, we are currently working on the first expansion of the game, although I cannot say anything more about it at this point in time.”

Speaking of expansion the name and details of these were leaked early via datamining a month ago.

With next-gen versions still not sure to come later this year, it’s still left to the audience on if and when can CD Projekt RED make good on its promises for Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 Next-Gen Versions Not Guaranteed for Release This Year Per CDPR

In the latest CD Projekt RED shareholders call, we have learned many things about the what is currently going on for Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen versions. President Adam Kiciński did come out early in the conference to reiterate their commitment into living up to the original vision of Cyberpunk 2077, and support for the game will continue “as long as necessary.”

While that is very good news indeed for those who own the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, those who want it on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X may be in for disappointment, as Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen versions are not guaranteed to be releasing this year, as per Kiciński’s statements. You can read it below.

‘We are focused on the development of the next-gen version of the game. Our target date for the release of the next-gen update is late 2021. Please note, however, that as the game is still in development, production plans might be subject to change.”

While a delay may seem like a downer, it does mean that they are making an effort to try and release it in the best possible state, a far cry from the game during its inital launch period.

Battlefield 2042 Xbox File Size Updated, Steam Version Gets Game Update

While a lot of Battlefield fans (including this guy) is waiting for new info for Battlefield 2042 to drop, players hungry for new info are a lot observant in anything new. Case in point: the Battlefield 2042 Xbox file size has been updated today, which could mean something or nothing at all.

Originally at just 60GB, the new BF2042 Xbox file size is now at 90GB! Check out the screenshot below (via Timidestone699pro):

Alongside the Xbox version, the Steam version of the game client has also been updated today too! Check out the image below courtesy of Oski_Polski:

Mind, this could mean nothing at all except EA/DICE updating the game files, or it could mean the beta is about to be unleashed. Speaking of which, a European retailer has listed the Battlefield 2042 beta date as starting on September 6, though that’s not a lock or anything yet.

Could this game file update be connected to the beta? Don’t forget, chances are we’ll be getting a day one update for the game as well, which means that this 90GB size on Xbox will be bigger come launch.

CDPR: Cyberpunk 2077 Support Will Continue “As Long as Necessary,” Goal Is to Deliver on Promise

In their latest shareholders call, CD Projekt RED reiterated their continued dedication to their latest title, Cyberpunk 2077. Adam Kiciński, president and joint CEO of CDPR, opened the call with the current development support for Cyberpunk 2077, noting where the company stands right now.

One of the statements he made that should grab a ton of attention was with regards to CDPR’s commitment, in particular to current and future Cybperpunk 2077 support.

“In terms of support, work on Cyberpunk will continue for as long as it’s necessary. Our ultimate goal is to deliver on the promise we made to gamers and regain their trust. We are fully committed to ensuring Cyberpunk lives up to its full potential and becomes a long-term success.”

While that is certainly a very promising prospect to try and look forward to for the many gamers who bought the game, it will be interesting to see how long CDPR will take to fully realize their original vision for Cyberpunk 2077.

Blue Box Explains Abandoned 5GB Download for 5-Second Footage; Playable Prologue to Have Trophies

Just a few weeks ago, Blue Box Game Studios released the “teaser” for its highly controversial upcoming game, Abandoned, which made waves for the wrong reasons. If you didn’t know what transpired, the Abandoned game app on the PS5 got an update, which was supposed to be for this big reveal, and instead, all we got was old footage.

Today, Blue Box has released an FAQ, where it answered pertinent questions like why gamers had to download 5GB of data for five seconds of footage, and more! Oh, and the upcoming playable prologue teased has been confirmed to include Trophies!

Check out the full FAQ below.

When will we learn more about Abandoned?
We are working hard to reveal Abandoned ASAP. As of now the game is not ready for the public eye.
Why is there a 5 second footage in the app with a size of 5GB?
As a result of technical issues we made it very hard for us last minute. We had to trim the opening teaser. The 5GB is the actual size of the full length. We will release the full teaser soon. We sincerely apologize for this.
When will we see new content in the Realtime Experience PS5 app?
Unfortunately we can’t provide an ETA just yet but we are working to release new content ASAP.
What is the Playable Prologue?
The Playable Prologue is a standalone game with its own set of Trophy’s on PS5.
What is the release date for Abandoned?
Abandoned is set to be released in 2022 while the Prologue will be available soon.
Will Abandoned be available in a physical form?
Yes. Abandoned will be available both digital and physical. The Prologue is only in digital form.
Is BLUE BOX Game Studios in any way linked to Kojima Productions or Hideo Kojima?
No. BLUE BOX Game Studios is a small independent studio based in The Netherlands.
Is The Haunting in any way linked with Abandoned?
No. Abandoned is a new different game. The game has been created from scratch and does not include references to The Haunting.
Why isn’t Abandoned shown so far?
Abandoned was announced too soon. Also, we received a bigger audience than we initially had, so we had to polish the game even more. Even now, the game isn’t ready for the public eye to see. We will release all media inside the Realtime Experience app and web for actual gameplay reveals and cinematic trailers.
What makes Abandoned unique and stand out from other games?
Abandoned has a new narrative, presented in realistic gameplay with a cinematic experience, Abandoned emulates a realistic approach to survival.
Is Abandoned a horror game?
Abandoned is a horror shooter/survival game. While the primary focus isn’t entirely horror.
Is Abandoned the actual IP name?
No Abandoned is a codename. The marketing title name will be announced with the gameplay reveal.

While the studo has already mentioned they are not connected with Hideo Kojima or Kojima Productions, fans aren’t ready to give up yet, and it’s understandable why given the randomness in how the game is being presented.

Hopefully, the studio can finally present a proper game reveal, and will let the title stand on its own legs soon.

Report: Battlefield 2042 Beta Dated for September 6 According to EU Retailer

While EA has not talked about Battlefield 2042 for weeks now, it seems that might be changing soon, as a big EU retailer has listed the Battlefield 2042 beta for September 6, which is just a few days from now!

The listing comes from Media World, which is a huge retailer in the EU (also called Media Markt in some European countries), has an image up on the game page. We’ve taken a screenshot in case it gets taken down.

The image on the lower right hand side when translated states (via transformer19-ch), “acquire the preorder of this product before 03/09 and you ll receive anticipated access to the beta in starting from 06/09 ending 11/09.”

Mind, EA has not announced any beta date just yet, so if this is true, the annoncement could be dropping anytime this week! We’ve reached out to EA for a statement about this as well, and will update the post if we hear anything back. That said, treat this one with a bag of salt, as this Battlefield 2042 beta date has NOT been confirmed by EA or DICE.

Battlefield 2042 is set to fire out onto the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S this October 22.

Tribes of Midgard Update 1.10 Wolf Patch Unleashed

Norsfell has released the Tribes of Midgard update 1.10 (PS5 1.100), this September 1, which the devs call the Wolf update. This brings a new pet into player’s collection, as well as a host of gameplay-related changes.

Tribes of Midgard Update 1.10 Patch Notes | Tribes of Midgard Wolf 1.10 Patch Notes:

Content

  • A R4VEN.MK.III Pet has found its way into your collection of Cosmetics. Navigate to the Pets section of the Customize menu to take a look for yourself!
    • This mysterious device arrived bearing an encrypted runic sequence that reads:
“To all of our Einherjar, I am sending you this raven drone to celebrate the official launch of our glorious mission on July 27th of Midgard Year 2021. We thank you for your patience while we continuously improve the game and your experience. May it watch over you and your tribe. Your support is worth more to us than the Nine Realms combined.” – Sincerely, Techno Oðinn.

Gameplay Changes

  • Saga Mode
    • Added Bomblings and Sirelings to Helthing attack waves during Fimbulwinter
      • Norsfell: This change should make the continuous night defenses of Fimbulwinter more challenging and more interesting for those who wish to brave Saga Mode’s late game.
  • Survival Mode – Easy
    • Increase to Creature, Helthings and Jötunn Difficulty
  • Survival Mode – Medium and Hard
    • Moderate increase to Creature, Helthings and Jötunn Difficulty
    • Slight increase to Jötunn HP, Armor and Attack Multiplier as they level up
      • Norsfell: We are putting additional efforts into fine-tuning the difficulty of Survival Mode to make it a bit more engaging and challenging for players, both in early game and as the Days progress.
  • Bosses
    • Decreased the amount of Souls granted for defeating Fenrir by 30%
      • Decreased the amount of Souls granted for defeating Jötunn by 6% overall
        • Norsfell: The Souls economy is integral to the game and we’re continuing to fine-tune the yield from all sources for a more balanced experience. We felt the very high amount of Souls awarded for defeating Fenrir, for example, were supplying late-game players a little too well as they prepared for the attrition of Fimbulwinter.
  • Quests
    • Adjusted the rewards and increased the number of them granted for completing Quests

No Man’s Sky Update 3.60 Now Live, Brings Frontiers Content This Sept. 1

Hello Games has released the No Man’s Sky update 3.60 (PS5 version 3.060) September 1 patch, and this brings the “Frontiers” content into the game! Hello Games has tagged this as the NMS 3.6 update, so don’t be confused. There’s a ton to dig through, so head on for the patch notes and new features below.

No Man’s Sky Update 3.60 Patch Notes | No Man’s Sky Update 3.060 Patch Notes | No Man’s Sky Update 3.6 Patch Notes:

SETTLEMENTS

  • Procedurally generated planetary settlements can be now found on inhabited planets all across the universe.
  • Settlements are found naturally via a new mission that occurs after a small amount of post-tutorial progress.
  • Settlements can also be found with maps purchased from the Space Station Cartographer.
  • Mission Board missions that involve locating NPCs can also take players to settlements.
  • Players may submit their credentials to the monument at the heart of the settlement. If accepted by the citizens, they will become Overseer of the settlement and may choose its name.
  • Every settlement and its layout is unique. Each building is procedurally generated, using only parts available for player base building.
  • Settlement status can be seen and managed from the central monument. Once players have constructed their Overseer’s Office, they can also manage the settlement from the terminal in their office.
  • Settlements have five key stats: productivity, population, happiness, upkeep costs, and Sentinel alert level.
  • Improve their stats by researching new technologies, attracting new settlers to the town, constructing new buildings, setting settlement policies, and more!
  • Settlements where productivity is higher than its upkeep will generate valuable products for its Overseer to claim for themselves. Higher class settlements will produce more valuable goods.
  • Settlements can fall into debt, for example after commissioning an expensive new piece of technology. Debt is automatically repaid from surplus production. While settlements are in debt, the Overseer may not claim the extra products.
  • Key stat bonuses are awarded in the form of settlement features.
  • Strong features will replace weaker ones. Once the settlement is at the feature limit, weaker features will be awarded as stat bonuses and will not replace a better feature.
  • Over time, the Overseer will be called upon to make decisions. A new Settlers mission has been added to the log to help keep track of these requests. This mission will alert Overseers whenever they are required.
  • Every few hours, the Overseer may be requested to make a decision. These range from greeting strangers, to resolving crimes, to setting settlement policies and research goals.
  • These decisions will help shape your settlement into a thriving town. However, be sure to monitor the Sentinel alert level. This will rise slowly over time, and may trigger an attack on the settlement. The Overseer must be ready to defend their people!
  • The settlement’s citizens will wander the town according to their routines. Their mood is influenced by the overall happiness of the settlement, as well as their own reactions to your decisions.
  • Any settler may be inspected to glimpse a view at their current thoughts.
  • Other settlers will display their thoughts as they wander, allowing the Overseer an insight into the inner lives of their citizens.
  • Opportunities to choose a new building to construct will arise frequently. Choose which buildings to prioritise and make your settlement unique.
  • Once a decision has been made at the terminal in the Overseer’s Office, a construction site will be placed in the settlement. Visit the site and supply resources to fuel construction.
  • Completing the construction of buildings will also award stat bonuses.

BASE BUILDING

  • The base building menu has been replaced by a new grid of all available parts.
  • The grid allows a quick and easy preview of all existing parts, as well as offering quick access to part selection.
  • From the grid, players can select a part to place or go straight to edit mode.
  • In placement mode, players now have quick access to scale, colour, material and rotation options.
  • In placement mode, players can quickly cycle between related parts, or can return to the parts grid to choose their next construction module.
  • A new ‘free placement’ mode has been added. This disables snapping and allows parts to intersect with each other and still be valid to place. It also allows players to freely place parts in mid-air.
  • From placement mode, or direct from the parts grid, players can enter Edit mode and adjust any existing parts. Simply target the part and select the appropriate option.
  • From edit mode, parts can be duplicated for rapid construction.
  • Or, pick up a part to fine tune it before putting it back in place.
  • Over 250 new base building parts have been added, from decorative to structural.
  • Three new construction sets have been added – timber, stone, and alloy. While still versatile and easy to snap, these new sets are much higher detail and more visually diverse than the previous basic sets.
  • These sets replace the old wood, concrete and metal sets. The older sets are no longer available to learn, but will be kept for existing players.
  • Players who have already researched pieces from the old sets will be awarded parts from the new set for free. The new sets are significantly larger, so be sure to visit the Construction Research Station on the Space Anomaly to browse the full set.
  • The new sets are context-aware and will automatically adjust their visuals to suit their position within a building. For example, walls placed at the top of a multi-storey building may add extra trim to their tops, while walls placed at the bottom may feature extra support beams.
  • The Exocraft signal boosters can now locate Trade Outposts.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Galactic Trade Terminal from being placed on basic wall pieces.
  • The Galactic Trade Terminal no longer needs power to function in player bases.
  • A number of deprecated and unusable base parts have been removed from the research trees.
  • Signal Boosters are no longer limited to one per region.

VISUAL IMPROVEMENTS

  • Space skies have been significantly improved, with all-new visuals for generating nebula effects.
  • Visual effects across the entire game have been significantly improved – destruction, environmental, combat and much more.
  • The mode select screen has been updated with a new set of images from the community. Thank you to all the dedicated No Man’s Sky photographers!
  • Fixed an issue that caused a single black frame during a teleport.
  • Fixed a number of rendering issues with stars in VR.

SAVE STREAMING

  • The save/load system has been overhauled.
  • On console, each save is now treated as its own object, rather than all five save slots being bundled together.
  • All existing saves have been automatically backed up.
  • A number of crashes that could occur when saving or loading large and lengthy savegames have been fixed.
  • The number of possible save slots has been increased from five to fifteen. The save select screen now supports scrolling to see additional slots/start a new game.
  • The number of discoveries that can be saved locally without uploading has been doubled.
  • Any non-consumable Quicksilver rewards, such as gestures and base building parts, are no longer save slot specific and can be used across all save slots once purchased.
  • Cross-save Expedition rewards, Titles, and Catalogue data will now be cloud synced along with other save data.
  • Multiple users on the same PC and Windows login will no longer share Expedition rewards, Titles, and Catalogue data.

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

  • On the Discovery screen, improved the clarity of the button that is used to register completion of all creature discoveries on a planet.
  • The reward for discovering all creatures on the planet has been significantly increased.
  • The clarity of the end-of-expedition countdown has been improved.
  • Season Three will begin soon, and will bring an exciting range of new rewards…

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a number of mission issues related to other players discovering the target creatures/plants/minerals.
  • Fixed a number of issues where matchmaking with players who had adjusted their clocks would cause the Expedition to end prematurely.
  • Fixed a number of issues that could prevent players from landing despite the location being valid.
  • Fixed an issue that made it difficult to hover-select the final Expedition patch.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the text on the expedition start splash screen to overlap in VR.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to start a new Expedition without updating their client to the correct version.
  • Fixed a number of mix issues with Bytebeat and background music.
  • Fixed an animation issue that could occur when stroking a companion immediately before mounting them.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the collision detection for biological horrors to be far too small.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented jetpack trail names from appearing if they had not been unlocked.
  • Fixed a number of camera issues that could occur when using a planetary chart while inside an Exocraft.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some buildings and bases to be labelled incorrectly when entering them.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to take hazard damage if their hazard protection was drained but they were no longer in the active hazard.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some markers to have a “time to walk here” estimate despite being on another planet.
  • Fixed a rare crash on Xbox that could prevent players from loading into the game.

PlayerUnknown Brendan Green Establishes New Studio PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions

Before the massive global hit that was Fortnite, there was PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Battlegrounds, more commonly known as PUBG. Its creator, Brendan Greene, has been referred to as the father of the battle royale genre, and his work on the game has laid the foundation for the genre in general. Now, he’s looking towards a new venture, as PlayerUnknown Brendan Greene has just announced the establishment of a new independent studio called PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions.

Greene and his studio previously worked under KRAFTON, which oversaw the publishing for PUBG and a majority of its content. In this new venture, KRAFTON will hold a minority stake in PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions. Greene himself shared a few words with this announcement, stating:

“I’m so very grateful to everyone at PUBG and KRAFTON for taking a chance on me and for the opportunities they afforded me over the past four years. Today, I’m excited to take the next step on my journey to create the kind of experience I’ve envisaged for years. Again, I’m thankful for everyone at KRAFTON for supporting my plans, and I’ll have more to reveal more about our project at a later date.”

PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions has its site up, which you can check out here. Currently, there is only one game listed under it called prologue, which was first announced in 2019. It remains to be seen what kind of game prologue is, but we do know that the studio and its team are exploring the systems needed to enable massive scale within open-world games,” according to the official press release.
