Destiny 2 Glitch Allows 12-Player Raids, Watch It in Action

Looks like a sneaky glitch has popped its way into the hearts and minds of hardcore Destiny 2 players, as Forbes has reported an exploit that allows 12-Player raids to happen and bypass the restrictions of the game.

Here’s how the glitch works via a video put together by Cheese Forever

For an explanation of the process, Forbes has detailed the process and timing to get two six man teams together.

You need one fireteam to join another at zero seconds when an activity is launching. This is easiest to do on PC with join codes, and you just have to get the timing down. For a 12 person raid, for instance, you need to have one fireteam of six join up on another fireteam of six with a single invite, which if timed correctly, will pull the entirely separate group of six into the raid for a total of 12.

The same is true for Nightfalls and dungeons, only the cap there is 9, because you can only start it with a team of three. And this can be done by fewer players of course, if you just want a fourth person to run it with or something. Again, it’s simply about timing. This can work on console, it’s just harder to time and execute because of the lack of join codes, but you can accept invites or join from roster there. You want to time it so you are joining a bit before the activity launches, because it takes a short amount of time to join up, if you’re trying to hit that “join at zero” mark. If you have an overabundance of people in orbit, you’re too early. If you can’t get into the activity, you’re too late.

The glitch still hasn’t been patched yet even if a new one was pushed out earlier this week. If you’re a Destiny player, you might want to check this out asap!

Street Fighter 5 Update 3.06 March 3 Punches Out to Fix Season 5 Bugs

Capcom has released Street Fighter 5 update 3.06 which is focused on bug fixes introduced from the latest Season 5 update.

Street Fighter 5 Update 3.06 Patch Notes

At the time of writing, Capcom has yet to officially unveil the full Street Fighter 5 Update 3.06 patch notes. However, from a post earlier this week Capcom did detail some of the bugs from the the Season 5 update. These bugs were set to be fixed in an update releasing today, March 3. You can read up on the changes for Street Fighter 5 Update 3.06, though will update the post once the full changelog is live.

  • (3/1 Update)An issue was discovered with Ken’s and Vega’s hitboxes when being countered with a V-Shift causing certain moves to not complete correctly. The hitboxes will be adjusted so their move recoveries will perform as intended.
  • Sound effects in matches playback in ‘Mono’ sound even if the sound option selected is set for ‘Stereo.’
  • When using Necalli’s V-Trigger I “Torrent of Power” during an online match, some matches may experience a communication de-sync.
  • Chun-Li and Juri’s V-Shift cause them to move back farther than expected.
  • Hitting Dan during the second half of his Jumping LP jump arc will ground him.
  • Some dojo objects are not displayed.
  • For Steam Players] Using the F12 screenshot function during gameplay will cause the game client to forcefully close.
→This is scheduled to be fixed on 3/4.
However, we can confirm that you can still take a screenshot by setting the Steam screenshot key to something other than F12.

Again this is only a partial (at least assumed to be) list of fixes. We should have the full details on the new update real soon.

Marvel’s Avengers XP Rework Announced; Cosmetics Geting Changes Too

While the Marvel’s Avengers Future Imperfect title update is the major thing fans are looking forward to on March 18, it looks likes some of the original settings in the game will get changes too. Crystal Dynamics has announced the Marvel’s Avengers XP rework plans, and there are reworks coming to cosmetics as well!

Marvel’s Avengers XP Rework:

Since we launched last September, our balance team has been evaluating the XP curve for leveling from 1-50 and we’ll be making some changes to address two core issues.

The current XP “curve” isn’t really a curve at all. In most RPGs, the amount of XP you need to level up increases as you gain levels in a curve, but our system is a straight line. This has led to pacing issues, such as skill points currently being rewarded too fast, which may be confusing and overwhelming to newer players. We want each decision to invest in a skill or Heroic to be more meaningful.

Based on these issues, we’ll be increasing the amount of XP needed to level up, starting from around level 25. This amount will increase the closer you get to level 50 so that it will take longer to reach higher levels, and will only affect character level, not power level. If you already have level 50 characters, which is the current maximum, this won’t affect you. If you have a character who isn’t level 50 and want to speed up their progress, take this time to do so before the update on March 18.

Note: Due to a bug we discovered, players could level characters at a blistering pace if they had multiple high-level characters. We intend to fix this issue once Clint arrives.

As for cosmetics, this is being reworked as well with the studio’s goal to give players a clearer picture on how to obtain specific ones.

Marvel’s Avengers Cosmetics Rework:

The first step of this is to temporarily disable the random cosmetic items drops in preparation for the change. Players won’t lose anything they have already earned. These items will be available again in places such as the cosmetic vendor once her store is reworked in future updates and will be purchasable with Units. This will directly affect random chance cosmetic rewards from completing activities (Missions and Strongboxes) and character progression (Hero Level and Faction Level). Numerous patterns will also be temporarily disabled from dropping and in some cases replaced with additional Units that can be spent at the cosmetic vendor.

The cosmetic vendor will still be open while we work on updating her functionality. The following outfits and nameplates will remain in the cosmetic vendor while her store undergoes the rework:

Outfits:

  • Black Widow’s Dawn and Midnight
  • Captain America’s Covert Commando and Freedom Fighter
  • Hulk’s Shattered and Fractured
  • Iron Man’s Midas and Gunmetal
  • Ms. Marvel’s Detailed and Crafted
  • Thor’s Hard Hat
  • Kate Bishop’s Private Eye and <3

Nameplates

  • Black Widow 6 and 14
  • Captain America 6 and 10
  • Hulk 14 and 27
  • Iron Man 7 and 14
  • Ms. Marvel 18 and 19
  • Thor 17 and 22
  • Kate Bishop 7 and 8

The following emotes, which were previously level-up rewards, will be added to the cosmetic vendor on March 18 to allow for more selection during her time of limited wares.

  • Black Widow Head Nod and Watch Me
  • Captain America Salute and Let’s Go
  • Hulk Hey and Follow
  • Iron Man Over Here and Beacon
  • Ms. Marvel Wave and Follow Me
  • Thor Hey There and You There
  • Kate Bishop’s Hey and Beckon

Crystal Dynamics has also announced that Hawkeye’s Challenge Card will have an outfit in its first slot of the activated path, which should be a welcome addition to the game’s fans. From the studio’s words, it seems like the cosmetics rework won’t be out on March 18.

Finally, the studio will also share more details on replaying teh Reassemble Campaign, as well as updates to the HARM room (which we think means the custom HARM room stuff that got leaked) in the “near future.”

Price $479 $579 $649 $999

These are also the confirmed manufacturers who will be releasing the AMD Radeon RX 6700.

RX 6700 Brands

As for how well does AMD’s Radeon RX 6700 XT stacks against Nvidia’s RTX 3070? Well it’s pretty comparable, and in some cases even outperforming the card when it comes to 1440p gaming at max settings.

More details from the press release:

The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card is built on 7nm process technology and AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture, designed to deliver the optimal combination of performance and power efficiency. Additional features and capabilities include:

  • AMD Infinity Cache – 96MB of last-level data cache on the GPU die provides up to 2.5X higher bandwidth at the same power level as traditional architectures3 to provide higher gaming performance.
  • AMD Smart Access Memory – Unlocks higher performance when pairing AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards with AMD Ryzen 5000 or select Ryzen 3000 Series Desktop Processors and AMD 500-series motherboards. Providing AMD Ryzen processors with access to high-speed GDDR6 graphics memory can deliver a performance uplift of up to 16 percent4.
  • 12GB High-Speed GDDR6 VRAM – Designed to handle the increasing texture loads and greater visual demands of today’s modern games at higher resolutions and max settings, the new graphics card with 12GB of GDDR6 of memory allows gamers to easily power through today and tomorrow’s demanding AAA titles.
  • AMD FidelityFX – Integrated into more than 40 games and counting, AMD FidelityFX is an open-source toolkit of visual enhancement effects for game developers available at AMD GPUOpen. Optimized for AMD Radeon graphics, it includes a robust collection of rasterized lighting, shadow and reflection effects that can be integrated into the latest games with minimal performance overhead.
  • DirectX® Raytracing (DXR) – AMD RDNA 2 architecture-based graphics cards are optimized to deliver real-time lighting, shadow and reflection realism with DXR, providing a stunning gaming experience. When paired with AMD FidelityFX, developers can combine rasterized and ray-traced effects to provide an ideal balance of image quality and gaming performance.
  • AMD Radeon Anti-Lag5 – Now with support for the DirectX 12 API, AMD Radeon Anti-Lag decreases input-to-display response times, making games more responsive and offering a competitive edge in gameplay.
  • AMD Radeon Boost6 – Now with support for Variable Rate Shading, AMD Radeon Boost delivers up to a 27 percent performance increase7 during fast-motion gaming scenarios by dynamically reducing image resolution or by varying shading rates for different regions of a frame, increasing framerates and fluidity, and bolstering responsiveness with virtually no perceptual impact on image quality.

Despite being $20 cheaper than the RTX 3070, it’s important to note that AMD has yet to release any feature that could rival Nvidia’s DLSS. It’s definitely a worthy substitute (on paper) for those looking to get a new GPU, especially with the ongoing consoles and GPU market shortage. One thing that AMD did promise during the presentation is that they plan on releasing RX 6000 GPUs and Ryzen 5000 CPU stocks every week on their website, and at the standard retail pricing. Definitely good news for everyone.

We cannot wait for the launch of the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, and things should be interesting once we start seeing the card in real hands and how it really stacks up in some real-world situations.

Outriders Interview – People Can Fly Talks GaaS, Next-Gen and More

Outriders is quite possibly the first big, AAA game set for release this 2021. While the game isn’t due out until April 1, there is a demo out now that gives gamers a beefy three-hour taste of what’s to come.

Just in time for the demo’s release, Square Enix invited MP1st (along with other gaming media) to have a roundtable phone interview with Lead Game Designer Piotr Nowakowski, and Creative Director Bartek Kmita at People Can Fly. The Polish studio known for developing games like Bulletstorm, Gears of War Judgment and more, was game to answer the questions thrown at them and here’s the transcript of that chat.

(Editor’s Note: Due to a technical error, some parts of the interview have been cut, and aside from sentence structure and a few grammatical edits, we have left the interview answers as is).

outriders demo review

Q: What was the decision making process in making  it (the demo) so large, basically making it the first part of the game that players can then just transfer over?

PCF: We wanted to show some basics about our game and realized that if we want to show, we’d have to slowly drag new players into it and it appears to be the first two hours of the game. We aren’t showing everything, and of course, it was tempting to basically troll the people  in the middle of the game…for some audience maybe that would be even better, because, y’know, more tools to play, more builds to create, more things to play with which where our game shines at the moment…it’s the greatest part of the game when you have to build your character in play.

But on the other hand, we know it’s not all that the people who’ve played the demo who don’t have experience with our game, but they don’t have the experience with this kind of games. The RPG systems, the loot systems, so we want to drag them into all those things, so what better way than to start from the beginning.

Another end, we took a bit more time to optimize everything and to show the path of the game and present what we have. On the other hand, that is the benefit of it, because when you finish this, you can swiftly go and buy the game, and your gameplay will be there, so we don’t have that problem of the player in the middle of the game that you have to go to the start and start a new character, and all of this. So there are pros and cons to it, but we have a complex game and maybe for some games 2-3 hours of gameplay is huge, but it’s a really, really small part of it, so we are not afraid of showing basically this kind of bigger content.

Q: This was supposed to come out late last year and obviously a lot of games have been delayed because of COVID and a lot of other fun stuff, so I was wondering what made you folks decide to delay the game, and the second part of that question is, what did you learn from this delay, from this extra time?

OK, first of all, we decided to delay the game, delay the launch because we weren’t confident that what we were giving is done. And because we wasted a lot of time in (unintelligible) we wanted to give people the full package. The whole product, so we decided to basically take more time to finish it, change some elements we are not happy about, add some small things here and there . We could have in theory, released this game and fix all the things in patches  and do these kind of things, but we decided to not go this way,  together with Square, we said no, and it’s better to delay this project, until we felt it was something that we felt, “OK, this is good, this is what we have, if they don’t like it, it’s the fault of the game; not that we didn’t do our best to basically finish it.” So that was the thought process behind it. The luxury we had that Square Enix — the publisher — agreed with us. We know that some people weren’t happy with this decision but on the other hand, overall  the sum of our happiness would be OK because later (it) would get more polish and better content. So that was basically the decision — the simple decision, that we weren’t able to finish everything on time.

We will see how the players react to the game after release, but for now, I feel that it’s worth doing that — polishing the game and making that additional effort because we’re looking at how the game looks right now and where we were on release date, it’s just more polished and it plays better.

Q: There’s been some scrutiny on some next-gen games moving on and neglecting their current-gen counterparts, and I wanted to ask, how has PCF and Outriders worked to create an optimal version of the game for PS4 and Xbox One?

PCF: For this game we are thinking of PS4 and Xbox One, so from day one we were releasing this game on those consoles  so that was normal for us, on the other hand, we are developing the game on high-end PCs, so we had in mind, y’know, let’s say lower spec and higher spec in the same moment. So the new consoles meet somewhere in between. But we never forget about the PS4 or the previous Xbox, because at some moment, when we start the development they were our main platforms. There was no part where we had the game (on higher specs) and right now let’s check out how it works on the previous gen. That was just not the case.

Q: Just to touch upon that next-gen question, I noticed in the broadcast preview for the Xbox Series S that you were targeting 1080p at 30fps, is that correct? Or can we expect 60fps to show up on the console?

(Editor’s note): The answers here are different from what People Can Fly has announced after the interview. Please check here for further information about this.

Q: What are your expectations for cross-platform play? I know it’s turned off by default, so I wanted to ask: are there any known issues that players should be aware of when attempting to play cross-platform?

PCF: Known technical issues that came to our mind: it’s when you’re with friends on different platforms, because of the technical aspect it’s not fully perfect, we are aware of that, we are trying to figure out some kind of solution for that but it’s not affecting gameplay itself or things like, it’s just how it is to share all the friends list for all the platforms . From my perspective that’s the only small thing that I can mention as not being perfect on the cross-platform point of view.

Q: Is this something that’s going to be fixed for launch or is that something that’s going to continuously worked on?

PCF: So, I don’t know if we’ll be able to somehow finalize that, but maybe we’ll find some solutions that are outside of our systems that still can be used for players connectivity to make it easier. So here I am talking about some workarounds and different solutions that’s something we need to implement in-game, if there are other options we would do, but right now seems like a little bit harder to find friends on different platforms  because we cannot show that contacts between platforms. But it’s the only thing that’s there (known issue).

outriders new trailer

Q: It’s not a live service game and I wanted to sort of check in on that and see if that was still sort of the case, and  wanted to revisit that and  talk about why that continues to be the case or not be the case.

PCF: That is still the case, so we are not a Games as a Service (GaaS), nothing has changed here. We were temped in the beginning to go this way, but we want to go into the different process and realize that these systems…didn’t make progress for us, and not making the game better and it just basically made the game worse, so we decided to resign from it.

For example I can give the story component, the Games as a Service was a little bit difficult for us to chop into serious content. This would put things differently, and we realized this game has a whole story where it has a beginning to end so basically, not working (GaaS) for us, And there were other systems that weren’t exactly working, I know it sounded because most of the shooter competitors are doing the Games as a Service that this can work great, but somehow in our mind it worked differently and (we were thinking) more old-school like Diablo, Diablo-style. What’s important is when we release the game that doesn’t mean we abandon the game, and we don’t want to work on this game anymore. If we have the player base, People (PCF) will be willing to say this works for sure to produce more content, produce more adventures, and activities for the people. It doesn’t have to always as a Games as a Service system, rather maybe fit it into bigger blocks with the daily chores or daily quests or however you call it.

Q: Say this game does really well, gets a great fan base, you decide to do more content, would that be sort of like a free DLC for players, or sort of too far out…

PCF: We will see what happens. Right now, it’s too soon to talk about it probably.

Q: Can Stadia users expect a demo anytime soon?

PCF: It’s too early right now to make some statements or confirmations, so we will see how it goes.

outriders new gameplay

Q: How is the solo campaign experience and the balancing compared to playing in co-op?

PCP: The experience should be evenly interesting and intensive for someone who plays solo and co-op…. given the balance and each setup will feel comfortable. It’s a little bit different of course, because if you play in a team you may have more tools, the combined power of all the builds tree from different or same characters. So the cooperative mechanics still, most of the mechanics exist also in single because we were not building the game that where one class interacts with a different class and there is a interaction point. It was rather lets have pieces of elements that the system are built and the pieces can be on one class and the second and then the interaction is created.

Still you can have both of the elements on a single class because there are mods for the weapons. So while the class is oriented to one of the direction, the more tools that you have, the different the gameplay can be. I’ll say playing in a single you will experience all the mechanics you will have in multiplayer, but playing it in multi adds a different layer to that.

The endgame content is aimed more towards the multiplayer, still you can beat that in single. It will be a little bit more challenging, it will take more time to gather all the things and be more perfect. Still, it will be available in single-player. If you are a single-player oriented player, yeah, you will have a full game with everything available for you.

If you prefer the multiplayer, then it will add additional layers. What’s the most interesting, you can switch between that at any moment. That was super important for us when we were thinking about the game, because that’s the way we like to play. Sometimes you are in the mood, “yeah I’ll just play alone”…but then you play with your friends, you don’t have to switch games, its the same one, you can play with a different approach, different possibility, the difficult adjust. So from that point of view it’s a competent experience and that was one of our goals and I really feel we succeeded, we are super happy about that approach.

We’d like to thank Square Enix for inviting us to chat with People Can Fly. Outriders is set for release this April 1 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Sony Files Patent for Objects Like a Banana to Be Used as Controller

Looks like the folks at Sony and PlayStation are literally going bananas with their next concept for a PS5 controller, as a patent was registered in which objects like a mug, a pen, or yes even a banana can be used as a controller for the PS5.

As the patent explains, the concept sounds like the makings of a new controller device for the system the works in conjunction with PSVR. Images were even shared by PlayStation that described how an object as simple as a banana could be used to play a game — and that’s literally where it’s left to the imagination of the player on how that works.

PlayStation Banana Controller

A system for generating video game inputs, the system comprising: an input unit operable to obtain images of a passive non-luminous object being held by a user; an object detector operable to detect the passive non-luminous object being held by the user in the obtained images; wherein the object detector is configured to detect an area in the image corresponding to the passive non-luminous object based on the pixels corresponding to the object and not based on a physical identifier that has been added to the object; an object pose detector operable to detect changes in pose of the passive non-luminous object based on the obtained images of the object; wherein the object pose detector is configured to detect the pose of the passive non-luminous object based on at least one of (i) a contour detection operation and (ii) the output of a machine learning model that has been trained to detect the poses of passive non-luminous objects in images; and a user input generator operable to generate a user input based on detected changes in the pose of the passive non-luminous object, and to transmit an indication of the generated user input to a video game unit executing an instance of a video game, so as to update the display of a virtual object in the video game in accordance with the generated user input.

It would be desirable if a user could use an inexpensive, simple and non-electronic device as a video game peripheral,” the application reads. “The present disclosure seeks to address or at least alleviate some of the above-identified problems.

As technology progresses and video game developers look for more innovative ways to present playing video games to society, using common objects like a banana doesn’t sound like a far fetched idea at all. The only thing left to see is how Sony executes this ambitious patent idea — and it looks like it will define the future of PSVR if that is indeed working in tandem with the concept. Of course seeing that this is a patent, it by no means is an indication that it will actually happen.

In related news, the PlayStation Store will discontinue TV and Movie purchases and rentals beginning on August 31.

Outriders Has Quite a Few Bulletstorm Easter Eggs

For those playing Outriders, the studio behind the game, People Can Fly, seems to have a soft spot for Bulletstorm — a game released by the studio way back in 2011, as there’s quite a number of Outriders Bulletstorm Easter eggs scattered throughout the first three hours of the game.

As far as we’re aware, there are at least four Bulletstorm references in the Outriders demo so far, and mind, there could be more hiding once the full game is available.

Outriders Bulletstorm Easter Eggs:

[unitegallery OutridersBulletormEE]

As you can see, there’s one even listed in the class tree! Though I think I prefer the “Storm of Bullets” magazine one the most.

Bulletstorm was developed by People Can Fly and was published by EA, and was released back in 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game got a second wind with its remaster when Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition was released in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One, and was published by Gearbox.

In case you haven’t played the demo yet, we posted our impressions of it which you might want to take a look at here.  Want more Outriders reading? People Can Fly has confirmed that the game won’t be a live service title and explains why.

Thanks, Dal-Shaloth!

Doom 3 VR Announced, Arrives for PSVR on March 29

Prepare to step back into hell and fight hordes of demons and unholy monsters in a whole new way, as Bethesda and id Software have announced that they are retooling Doom 3 for virtual reality use and rereleasing the game as Doom 3 VR — which will be coming to PSVR this March!

Check out the mayhem represented in VR in this trailer!

Here’s the official word on the Doom Marine’s return to the hellscape via press release.

Complete and Enhanced DOOM 3 Experience

Featuring both DOOM 3 and its expansions – Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission – DOOM 3: VR edition retools id Software’s horror-action classic for PSVR technology. Uncover the truth behind the UAC’s dark experiments, fight unholy creatures in terrifying environments and wield an arsenal of iconic weaponry with new textures, shaders and sound effects as you survive against the forces of Hell across over 15 hours of heart-stopping action.

Refined for VR

Immerse yourself deeper in the terror thanks to all-new enhancements for virtual reality, including head tracking to peer around corners, angling shots with your flashlight-mounted weapons, 180-degree quick-turn functionality to catch sneaking demons in their tracks and a wrist-mounted display to track your health, armor and ammo. Combined with the original DOOM 3’s critically acclaimed action-horror gameplay, virtual reality fans are in for one Hell of an experience with DOOM 3: VR Edition.

First released for PC back in 2004, Doom 3 helped propel the franchise’s popularity forward — which is now soaring with the latest release in Doom Eternal, which made $450 million in revenue in its first nine months of release.

Doom 3 VR will be released this March 29 for the PSVR!

Dead by Daylight Update 2.15 March 3 Sneaks Out (Update)

Following yesterday’s news that the Dead by Daylight patch for its upcoming chapter 4.6.0 is now in the testing realm, Behaviour Interactive has now released the Dead b Daylight update 2.15 march 3 patch! And yes, before anyone asks, this is obviously not the big chapter update.

Clocking in at just 94MB on PS4, the patch is surprisingly large for Xbox One clocking in at 2GB.

Dead by Daylight Update 2.15 March 3 Patch Notes:

Update: Here’s what the PS4 upodate history says about this patch:

  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to unlock achievements and gain or lose progress in Custom games.

Unfortunately, Behaviour Interactive has not shared anything regarding today’s patch so far.

There’s a new Developer Update post which touches on the changes coming in patch 4.6.0, and beyond. For now, we’ve listed the bug fixes and known issues planned for 4.6.0 below. Again, pointing it out that these are NOT the patch notes for today’s update but what’s being tested now in testing realm.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash in the initial interaction screen.
  • Fixed a crash in the Play as Killer lobby that could occur when repeatedly holding the Ready button to cancel the search.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Killers to drop on top of the chairs in Ormond’s chalet.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when using Victor to pounce on a survivor as they exit the trial.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Victor to stay stuck inside the hills unique to the Red Forest maps.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the infected VFX behind the survivor icon to not be fully completed when the Survivor is affected by Broken status effect.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Survivors to remain standing until they move when downed from a Deep Wound status.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Killers and Survivors to be seen floating in certain spots on hills in Asylum maps.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Survivor’s health bar to no longer flash when the timer is paused.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Trail of Punishment of the Damned sound effect to keep playing even if no trails were left behind.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Survivor to not stay on the ground after dying status animation has occurred
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to spawn inside a collision (therefore not being able to move) when loading into the Dead Dawg Saloon map
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent repairing a generator from the light post side in Grim Pantry
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent Survivor health bars from being visually accurate (bar would appear empty before Survivor dies).
  • Fixed an issue that caused the item’s icon on the ground to overlap with the progress bar when equipped with some specific items (only if the In-Game HUD scale is 85% or lower).

Switch only:

  • Fixed an issue where selecting an Archive cinematic would briefly play a few frames of the last previously viewed cinematic.
  • Fixed a crash that may occur when holding both buttons to switch between Survivors in Spectator Mode.

Stadia only:

  • Fixed an issue with the UI prompts showing for a wrong platform when using a keyboard and a controller.

Known Issues

  • Victor can get stuck in the Basement hook and cannot pounce on survivors
  • The Nurse may become unable to do any actions after a Blink Grab
  • Survivors do not generate Killer Instinct when interacting with the Demogorgon’s Portal
  • Survivors will clip inside the environment or float during some interactions
  • Survivors do not look back smoothly when crouching near a wall or asset
  • Hex: Ruin does not automatically regress generators
  • Projectiles go through pallets
  • Oni’s sword ‘Yamaoka Blade’ appears to stretch erratically from a distance
  • Ammo Items in lockers do not spawn unless the Trickster is present in a match. When playing as other Killers, the locker is empty.

Once Behaviour releases the official patch notes, we’ll update the post. Same as always, if you spot any gameplay-related changes or bug fixes, let us know what you find down in the comments eblow.<

PS4 Beta Update 8.50 Rolling Out for Testers, Removes PSN Communities

It looks like we’ll soon know what Sony has planned for the next major firmware update for the PS4, as the PS4 beta update 8.50 is out now for a select group of people picked to test it.

Update (4/14/21): The PS4 8.50 firmware is now live! Here’s the file size and everything new.

In a email invite we received, the PS4 Beta update 8.50 (dubbed as the Spring 2021 beta) seems to be focused on some quality of life improvements, although Sony will be removing PlayStation communities in this upcoming update according to the changelog.

PS4 Beta Update 8.5

PS4 Beta Update 8.50 Patch Notes

Main Features in This System Software Beta

  • In messages, you can now turn notifications on/off for each of the groups you’re in. On the group screen, open then options menu and select “Turn Notifications Off”.

Other Updates Features

  • On the game session screen, you can now use the “Request to Join” button to ask the session leader to join their game. The session leader can then send you an invite to join the game session.
  • When playing a game you’ve hidden, other players will no longer see you play it.
  • Communities are no longer available.

The last major PS4 firmware update was 8.00 which was released last year. It included enhanced 2FA (two-factor verification), new avatars, and more. On the smaller side of updates, Sony has released the 8.03 firmware patch in December which also introduced something else other than stability fixes.

Borderlands Movie Casts Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina

More star power comes to Eli Roth’s upcoming film adaptation of 2K’s Borderlands universe, as Little Gamora actress and Avengers: Infinity War star Ariana Greenblatt has been cast in the role of Tiny Tina for the upcoming Borderlands Movie!

Here’s the tweet from Gearbox themselves announcing the young actresses’ casting.

In a statement, Roth expressed nothing but excitement for Greenblatt’s casting as one of the popular NPC characters from the Borderlands franchise.

“Ariana is a spectacular new talent in cinema. She has already worked with many of my close collaborators and… She blew us all away in her audition, and I cannot wait to see her bring the wild, insane, and unpredictable Tiny Tina to the big screen.”

As an NPC that has appeared throughout the series, Tiny Tina is described as an “unstable thirteen-year-old explosives expert” who is on a quest for revenge for the death of her parents. Greenblatt, who played the young Gamora in flashbacks and during the Mind Stone scene with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, will be joining another stellar cast of stars that already includes Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart.

Speaking of castings, Jack Black is taking on the role ClapTrap on the film.

There are more changes incoming such as colorblind settings:

CB4.png

With this Chapter release, we are adding colorblind modes to Dead by Daylight. You can find new settings in-game to switch between default, deuteranope, protanope, and tritanope modes. These settings subtly adjust colors to make them easier to see for some players. Colorblind modes are our first step in increasing the accessibility of the game.

We have also added a chat filter to the game. This filter will act as an additional line of defense ensuring that you don’t need to see inappropriate messages in the first place. Our support team will continue reviewing chat reports as we have done in the past to make sure that players who are breaking the rules are punished accordingly. Although offensive terms will be filtered for you, our team has access to uncensored chat logs, and we encourage you to continue reporting any messages you feel may have been inappropriate.

For the rest of the planned changes for this Dead b Daylight next chapter and beyond, head on here.

New Modern Warfare & Warzone Texture Pack Released on Next-Gen, PS4 Pro & Xbox One X, Supports “Most Detailed Textures” (Update)

If you want the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone textures to look better and you have a next-gen console (or a PS4), then you’re in luck! Activision has rolled out a new Modern Warfare & Warzone Texture Pack (called Texture Pack 3) for next-gen and on the PS4 Pro (and Xbox One X)!

UPDATE: We’ve update the post to reflect that the texture pack is also available on Xbox One X. We checked it to be sure and added a screenshot below, along with the file size.

It’s (naturally) a free download available on each platform’s digital storefront, and on PlayStation platforms, it clocks in at 8.36GB and 7.9GB on Xbox. In the add-on’s description it states that “This pack supports the most detailed textures for weapons and Operators in Modern Warfare and Warzone.”

It’s also only recommended for PS4 Pro and PS5 players with “high-resolution displays.”

Here’s what gamers will see when they check it out on the PlayStation Store:

We’re assuming that Activision is referring to 4K when it mentions “high-resolution displays” in the description. Of course, this is assuming you have enough space left and aren’t using a base PS4 with just 500GB of disk space since Activision has cautioned that the OG PS4 might not be enough to handle Warzon’es disk space capacity (and it looks like it needs the PS4 Pro’s extra horsepower too).

Give this a whirl. Call of Duty: Warzone fans and let us know if it’s a major improvement or not.

Update:

We have just confirmed that it is also available on Xbox Series X and Xbox One X! Screenshot below:

Thanks, ModernWarzone!

Outriders Demo Review – Riding High

In case you didn’t know, People Can Fly (Gears of War Judgment, Bulletstorm) released a full-fledged demo out on all platforms for their upcoming game, Outriders, which is a third-person cover shooter that seems to have taken quite a bit of inspiration from some of the most popular franchises out today, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The demo starts with the prologue which acts as a primer for the story, and as a quick tutorial section where players are shown the basics. It can’t be skipped, and it’s relatively short (especially if you don’t puruse dialogue options and the like) which is good, since the controls are pretty much your standard third-person actio game mechanics. Triggers will have your character ADS (aim down sight) and shoot, while the face buttons are used to reload, take cover, dodge, switch weapons and so on. Those who played games like The Division, Gears of War, etc., will feel right at home.

Immediately after the prologue though, is where the real fun begins.

Start Your Altered Engines!

After the prologue and a few cinematics, players will be asked to choose the class they want to be locked into. There’s the Technomancer, Pyromancer, Trickster, and Devastator.  While we won’t go into detail for each class (that’s what the hyperlinked videos are for), I can say from experience that each one varies greatly in terms of play style, abilities, and how you approach encounters.

Clearly, People Can Fly poured a lot of thought into each class’ abilities. In the demo, players are limited to just four class abilities each, but even then, you can get a good grasp of how each class plays, and how different they are from one another. All in all, I’ve played through the demo from start to finish (all the content available in the demo) about three times, and I have to pick the Trickster class as my fave, and the one I’ll be playing as when I  play the game for fun (or review) come launch. The Trickster can not only teleport to enemies, but the character even has a blade slash move that disintegrates enemies into bones and guts! Add in the class’ chronosphere bubble ability that slows down everything inside, and well, the class just feels badass.

Not to say the other classes don’t feel as powerful. The Technomancer might feel “gimmick-y” at first since the class relies on turrets and whatnot, but proper implementation of it can prove to be invaluable given that not only does these turrets fire at enemies and distract them, but they have abilities themselves too.

Adding more depth to classes are the class trees that splinter into three different ways. So, not only do you have four main classes (roles) to choose from, but each one has a specific sub class they can excel in, which greatly adds to the depth. Unfortunately, in the demo, we can only use two skill points which meant we couldn’t even try the other sub class skills/buffs, etc. Check the image above! Yeah, a little daunting, right? Don’t though, as the game slowly guides you to each tree, ability, etc.

Familiar Grounds

Aside from classes and whatnot, most of the time, players will be doing a lot (and I mean a LOT) of shooting. There’s your usual armaments like an assault rifle, shotguns, sub machineguns and so on. The choices we have in aren’t the most varied lot, but the gunplay feels satisfying. It bears mentioning that there’s loot in the game (more on that later) that should shake up whatever monotony players might feel with the gunplay. And when you’re shooting, using abilities on the fly, running from cover cover and such, against throngs of baddies, you’ll be glad that you’re using weapons that you’re familiar with.

As mentioned before in this article, the movement and cover system feel similar to games like Gears of War, The Division, Uncharted, etc., which is a good thing. What’s not good, however, are the ledges, metal blocks and such that look like you can vault over them (there is no jump mechanic in the game), but you can’t. They are the same height as other stuff that you can vault over, which makes no sense to be honest. Equally annoying sometimes is how your character will suddenly be pushed out of cover, and it takes quite some fidgeting sometimes to get them back in, which means you soak up damage that you shouldn’t have taken in the first place.

first hour of outriders

These quibbles aren’t game-breaking or anything though, and once you get used to it, becomes second nature to watch out for these things (at least I did). Still, this is something the devs can take a look at and tweak post-launch.

Going Aggro

An interesting mechanic that People Can Fly implemented in Outriders is that players are pushed to be aggressive. In your standard cover shooter, players are usually taught or conditioned to take cover, pick your shots, flank, pop for a few shots, and then go back in cover. That’s not the case in Outriders.

Here, you are rewarded for being aggressive! Need some HP (health points) for your character? Your auto-heal can only heal until a fourth of your life bar. Want more? Go deal damage, use your abilities to kill enemies so that any damage you dealt, will be transferred to you in the form of HP! It’s a clever gameplay design that ensures gunfights won’t become boring, and teammates will all rush in guns (and abilities) a-blazing. Speaking of which, your weapons have specific abilities as well. There are burn rounds (that incinerate enemies upon contact), weapons that have the life leech ability in order to steal life as you deal ’em, and more. Safe to say, we’ve barely scratched the surface of what the game’s weapons, mods and abilities are given we’re locked to World Tier 5, and locked to level 7 of each character.

Quacks Like a Duck BUT Not a Duck?

Possibly the most confusing thing in Outriders is how it’s not a live service game. People Can Fly reiterated that over and over — that Outriders is not a Games as a Service title, though it definitely feels like one. While we know there will be endgame content (called Expeditions and shown below in the video), we don’t know for certain whether we’ll see post-launch stuff, seasonal events and the like. People Can Fly has not promised anything, other than this game will be a finished product from beginning to end, which is a good thing to hear. I mean, I’d rather get a full-fledged complete game, than have to wait for the promise of extra missions, content, and whatnot that are usually promised by games that have a thin layer of content at launch.

Even in the game’s main hub (that kinda feels like Anthem’s but in a less confusing way), it feels like it’s opening up to something more. Think of weekly, daily quests, vendor resets (which are already present in the demo) — all staples of GaaS titles, of which Outriders is again not a part of.

Time will tell if this feels like a complete game, and whether People Can Fly can pivot to give gamers more content (assuming the player base is there). But for now, we’ll have to take the studio’s word on how content-packed the game is.

Saddle Out!

We haven’t even touched on the game’s story in this Outriders demo review (we’ll talk about that spoiler-free in our main review), but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s intriguing enough that I want to know more of the characters, what’s in store, who Seth is fighting, and more. The fact that your character isn’t some goody two shoes helps as well, since it gives the protagonist a little bit more attitude than your standard hero or anti-hero role.

One major thing we noticed right off the gate are the audio issues. There are multiple instances wherein a cinematic will have a character repeat a word twice for some reason, and the lip sync issues are there from start to finish (of the demo)! It does pull you out of the immersion, though I’m hoping this is something People Can Fly can patch up at launch. In addition to audio issues, we’ve noticed some graphical inconsistencies as well, though that’s something that we’ll be discussing in a separate article (keep an eye out for that).

Make no mistake about it, the Destiny inspiration is evident, as is with titles like Mass Effect, and even People Can Fly’s own Gears of War. Sure you can knock the game down a bit for those, but, as a whole though, Outriders shines on its own right, and more importantly, what I’ve played so far from the demo has made me look twice at a game I wasn’t that interested in before, and dare I say it, it made me anticipate the game’s launch which is a good thing.

Epic Games Acquires Fall Guys Studio Mediatonic

It looks like another indie developer has bit the dust, as Mediatonic, the studio behind the surprise hit Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, are now part of the Epic Games family.

Related Reading: Epic Games Announces Digital Human Making App in MetaHuman Creator

Fortunately, Epic has said that this won’t affect Fall Guys in any way, shape or form — at least for the time being. It’s still set to launch on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox, and there’s even an FAQ about it as well.

Here are a few choice questions from the FAQ:

Free-To-Play?

Nothing to announce right now!

How will this affect the community?

We absolutely love our community and we wouldn’t be in this situation without your continued support.

We’ll stay super close with you, continue to chat with you in the same open and honest way, and continue to take on all of your suggestions and feedback.

Will you still make the same kind of games in future?

We’re proud of Mediatonic’s creative culture and this is something that Epic really values too. We’re focused on creating games that empower our players, create joy, and bring people together to have fun, and we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities ahead.

Based on the comment above regarding free-to-play, it looks like that might be in the cards, and with Epic Games printing money with Fortnite, the monetary hurdles regarding that decision could be a non-issue.
