Destiny 2 Down Until Tomorrow, Beyond Light Update 2.02 Rolled Out

For those trying to log in to Destiny 2 but can’t,  you won’t be able to for quite some time, as Bungie has taken the servers offline. It’s Destiny 2 down until tomorrow, as the studio has rolled out the Beyond Light update 2.02, which should be available for pre-load for everyone and not just for PS4 gamers.

Bungie calls this the Destiny 2 update 3.0.0.1, which is a huge step up in numbering given today’s patch brings in not only the premium (read: paid) Beyond Light expansion, but also Season of the Hunt! Read up on the server schedule and details below.

Before we end our patch note preview, we do want to call out the collectors among you who have been talking about the impending removal of Expired Ramen Coupons from your inventories. We know this one stings a bit. It’s a byproduct of us cleaning up inventory systems and doing general maintenance.
We want to a provide a parting gift before these coupons are tossed into the bin. These coupons can’t be redeemed for spicy ramen, but they can decorate your desktop for as long as you desire.

More details can be checked out here.

For more Destiny 2 Beyond Light info, head on below for the new subclasses, new weapons coming and more!

Once the official patch notes are available, we’ll let our readers know.

Apex Legends Update 1.51 November 9 Rolled Out

While we just got the big Season 7 patch for Apex Legends last week, Respawn Entertainment has rolled out the Apex Legends update 1.51 November 9 patch! Given this is an unannounced title update, don’t expect any new content.

Note that this patch is available now on all platforms and is a small download.

Apex Legends Update 1.51 November 9 Patch Notes:

Here’s what Respawn Entertainment has to say about today’s new Apex Legends update:

FYI, Legends, we’ve pushed out a small update that:

  • Fixed various Steam-only issues, including poor performance in the lobby
    Fixed various issues with Clubs
    Fixed miscellaneous errors

One Reddit user commented that the Steam edition of the game now runs at 30 frames-per-second (fps), which confirms the Steam fps issue has been resolved.

In other Apex Legends news, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has confirmed that the mobile version’s development is almost complete, and that it will be released sometime in 2021!

In addition to that, if you’re not a fan of the current Battle Pass changes introduced in Season 7, Game Director Chad Grenier has offered an in-depth explaation to it and says that they have the players’ “best interest in mind.”

If you spot any gameplay-related changes or bug fixes not mentioned in the notes, feel free to leave a comment and let us know.

EA Madden 21 Update 1.16 November 9 Touches Down

While football fans just got an update from EA Vancouver for EA Madden 21 last week, the studio has released the Madden 21 update 1.16 November 9 patch today, and it’s for a big fix!

EA Madden 21 Update 1.16 November 9 Patch Notes:

Here’s the full details straight from the Madden 21 Community Manager’s post on the official forums:

Today’s Madden NFL 21 Emergency Title Update addressed an issue where players were getting locked out of signing into Madden NFL 21.

The Emergency Title Update will be going live on all platforms (Xbox/Playstation/PC) at 9AM PT/12:00PM ET today, Monday, November 9th.

Yep, that’s the only fix listed with today’s patch, but it’s a huge one given players are being locked out from playing. If you spot any other changes (gameplay-related or otherwise) from this patch, share the details down in the comments below.

If you haven’t bought the game yet, go check out our review to see if it’s worth a pick up or not. Don’t forget, there’s been quite a number of patches released since the review went live.

Once new details regarding Madden 21’s next patch is released, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. And you don’t have to worry about us posting any fake patch notes and whatnot, either.

PSA: Genshin Impact Publicly Shows User-Linked Phone Numbers

Are you playing Genshin Impact? miHoYo’s hit, free-to-play action RPG? If so, and you’ve linked your mobile account, you might want to unlink it now.

Over on the Genshin Impact subreddit, a user has provided proof that apparently, if you linked your mobile number and retrieved your password by using the “forgot password” option, your entire mobile number will be shown to the public!

This has to be some sort of mistake right? Right now, if you were to go to the miHoYo account website –> forgot password –> and then enter your username, the email would be partially censored.

However, if you linked a mobile number, it is NOT censored at all. So if you have a common username or your username on Genshin is the same on another service such as Reddit, anyone on the internet can see your phone number. You can see for yourself right now on the website.

Having private information exposed this easily on the internet isn’t ok.

Probably the wise thing to do right now is to unlink your phone number for now. Hopefully miHoYo does something about this.

Image Proof:

If you’ve linked your account via email, then you’re good, as it doesn’t show the full email address.

Mind, this is a huge security hole — one we hope that the devs act on ASAP.

If you haven’t downloaded the game yet, go check out our Genshin Impact review to see why the game is worth downloading and playing.

With the PS5 set to take over households this week and beyond, no doubt that there are a lot of would-be buyers and more that have questions about the console. Sony has today published a huge PS5 FAQ that answers everything from outlets, weight, performance and more.

PS5 FAQ:

The Console Hardware

What is PlayStation 5’s release date, and what is its retail price?

PlayStation 5 will launch worldwide on the following dates, with the local suggested retail price:

Country Release Date RRP (local currency)
North America November 12, 2020 PS5 console: $499.99 (suggested retail price)
PS5 Digital Edition console: $399.99 (suggested retail price)

PS5 console: CDN $629.99
PS5 Digital Edition console: CDN $499

PS5 Digital Edition console: £359.99
Europe November 19, 2020 PS5 console: €499.99
PS5 Digital Edition console: €399.99

What’s the difference between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console?

The only difference between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console is the inclusion of an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive in the PS5 console. The PS5 Digital Edition console does not feature a disc drive.

The PS5 console features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive that will allow you to play PS5 Blu-ray disc games and PS4 Blu-ray disc games, as well as play video from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs, standard Blu-ray discs, and DVDs.

The PS5 Digital Edition console does not have an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. PS5 Digital Edition console owners will be able to buy PS5 and PS4 games from PlayStation Store or access games via PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now (an ongoing paid subscription is required for each, sold separately).

And more than 99% of the 4,000+ PS4 games can also be played on either the PS5 console or the PS5 Digital Edition console, though with the PS5 Digital Edition console these games will need to be downloaded from PlayStation Store while the PS5 model with a Blu-ray disc drive will also support PS4 Blu-ray discs.

You can learn more about playing PS4 games on PS5 here.

Note: Blu-ray discs cannot be used with the PS5 Digital Edition console. If you own PS4 Blu-ray Discs, you will not be able to use them with a PS5 Digital Edition console.

Are there any performance differences between the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console?

No. The consoles’ performance is identical, outside the existence of a disc drive.

What are the physical dimensions of the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition console? How much do they weigh?

The PS5 console is approximately 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (width x height x depth), excluding the Base, and weighs in at around 4.5kg.

The PS5 Digital Edition console is approximately 390mm x 92mm x 260mm (width x height x depth), weighing in at around 3.9kg.

Can I use both PS5 console models in either horizontal or vertical orientation?

Yes, both PS5 models include a Base that allows users to adjust the console for vertical or horizontal placement. Watch our PS5 teardown video to see how it works.

Will PS5 be available in other color schemes?

There won’t be additional colors or designs available for either of the PS5 models at launch.

What input/output ports and connectivity features does PS5 support?

Input/Output
Front of Console
USB Type-C® port (Super-Speed USB 10Gbps)
USB Type-A port (Hi-Speed USB) — Connect your DualSense wireless controller to this port.
Input/Output
Back of Console
USB Type-A port (Super-Speed USB 10Gbps) x2 — Use these ports to connect a USB drive for extended storage. You can also connect your HD Camera here.
Networking Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T)Wifi: IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax

Does PS5 use an external ‘power brick’?

No, PS5 is designed with an internal power supply.

What is included in the PS5 box at launch?

Whichever model you choose, you’ll get:

  • The PS5 console or PS5 Digital Edition console
  • One DualSense wireless controller
  • USB Type-C to Type A charging cable for the DualSense wireless controller
  • HDMI cable (compatible with Ultra High Speed defined by HDMI v2.1)
  • AC power cord
  • Base that allows you to orient the console either vertically or horizontally
  • Quick Start and Safety guide.

Additionally, both PS5 models come with a free game pre-installed. Astro’s Playroom is a brand-new platformer that allows PS5 players to explore four worlds, each one showcasing innovative gameplay using the new and versatile features of the DualSense wireless controller.

The Ultra High-Speed SSD

What’s special about PS5’s SSD?

PS5’s ultra-high-speed SSD and integrated custom I/O system were developed with the goal of removing barriers to play – specifically loading screens. Developers are able to stream assets into PS5 games at an incredibly fast rate, so PS5 play experiences can be seamless and dynamic, with near-instantaneous fast travel through large game worlds. This enhanced speed will enable game developers to create larger, richer worlds without traditional limitations, such as load times, and also allows gamers to spend more time gaming than waiting.

Read what some developers are saying about the PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD in this article.

What’s the difference between the PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD and other SSDs?

The 5.5GB/s (raw) read bandwidth of PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD is on the cutting edge thanks to its advanced, highly customized design and integrated I/O, including a custom decompressor (learn more here). We developed it with the specific goal of reducing load times and maximizing the developer’s ability to access game data at super-fast speeds.

We believe it represents a true generational leap in data access, and will unleash game developers to create larger, richer, and more seamless play experiences than ever before.

Does PS5 improve my ability to download and store games?

Similar to PS4, PS5 games can offer a feature called “Preferred Install” that allows players to choose which part of a game to install first. This can allow a player to prioritize access to a particular mode or feature. An example could be prioritizing the installation of the single-player or multiplayer component of a game.

In supported PS5 games, players can also choose to remove specific modes or content they no longer want in order to free up storage space. Developers will ultimately determine the level of support offered for these features, but the goal is to maximize storage flexibility.

Downloading and applying game software updates on PS5 should work more quickly than on the PS4 console in general, as the data size of updates and patches is managed more effectively.

Additionally, a feature on the updated PlayStation App for mobile devices will allow players to remotely manage their PS5’s storage if they run out of space when queuing a game to download to their console via the app.

Can I store or play PS5 games from a USB drive?

No, players cannot transfer PS5 games to a USB drive. PS5 games must be stored on the console’s internal ultra-high speed SSD for gameplay. Explorations for allowing players to store (but not play) PS5 games on a USB drive in a future update are underway.

You can, however, store and play PS4 games from a compatible USB drive connected to PS5. For more details, keep reading.

Can I expand PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD storage?

PS5 features an expansion port that will, in the future, enable players to add M.2 SSD storage to be used for installing and playing PS5 games.

This M.2 SSD storage upgrade functionality will come to PS5 after launch as part of a system software update. We’ll share more details in the future, including around which type of M.2 SSD storage drive will be compatible with PS5.

On day one, you’ll be able to connect a compatible USB drive and use it to store and play your PS4 games. You’ll be able to play PS4 games while they remain stored on the external device. PS5 games need to reside on PS5’s internal SSD before play.

What’s an M.2 SSD drive?

M.2 SSD drives are a high-speed SSD medium that you can use to upgrade storage capacity in supported devices. Both PS5 models will support M.2 SSD storage expansion following a future system software update coming after launch.

Will I need to use a specific type or speed of M.2 SSD drive with my PS5?

Yes, a minimum performance level for the M.2 SSD drive will be required, and we’ll share more details in the future.

Should I buy an M.2 SSD drive for my PS5 at launch?

No. For now, we recommend that you hold off on purchasing any M.2 SSD drives intended for use with PS5. We will share more details on recommended drives in the future. M.2 SSD storage functionality will come to PS5 after launch with an upcoming system software update.

3D Audio

What is Tempest 3D AudioTech?

Tempest 3D AudioTech is PS5’s custom engine for 3D Audio. It will provide high-quality audio and allow games to offer a much deeper sense of immersion via the custom 3D Audio implementation with a PS5-compatible headset.

How does PS5’s 3D Audio benefit gameplay?

Games will tap into PS5’s advanced 3D Audio capabilities in different ways based on the goals of the development team. Among other advanced audio features, PS5’s 3D Audio supports highly accurate audio positioning.

Examples could be hearing an arrow zip past the player’s head, or hearing footsteps in another room and detecting the enemy’s location.

Will every PS5 game benefit from 3D Audio?

Yes. Even simple channel-based audio will have additional dimensionality thanks to PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech. The exact 3D Audio effects may vary title by title, and developer optimization will provide the best experience

More broadly, PS5’s audio processing capabilities are considerably more advanced than PS4’s, so PS5 game developers will have powerful new tools to create great in-game audio.

What types of headsets can I use to enjoy 3D Audio?

The PULSE 3D wireless headset has been engineered to take full advantage of PS5’s 3D Audio capabilities. With a refined design, dual noise-cancelling microphones, and an array of easy-access controls, the PULSE 3D wireless headset offers a seamless experience.

Players can also experience 3D Audio on PS5 with a PS5-compatible headset that you may already own, either through the console’s USB connection, or by plugging an analog headset into the DualSense wireless controller’s 3.5mm headset jack.

Is 3D Audio available through TV speakers?

TV speaker virtual surround sound won’t be available on launch day for PS5 but is planned for a future update.

How do I get the best 3D Audio experience on PS5?

Using a PS5-compatible stereo headset offers the best 3D Audio experience due to the ability to deliver audio to each ear separately. In addition, since everyone’s ears are a little bit different, PS5 provides a set of built-in user profiles that players can choose from to get the best sound for them.

GPU, CPU and RAM

What are the specs of the AMD CPU and GPU?

CPU x86-64-AMD Ryzen™ “Zen 2”
8 Cores / 16 Threads
Variable frequency, up to 3.5 GHz
GPU AMD Radeon™ RDNA 2-based graphics engine
Ray Tracing Acceleration
Variable frequency, up to 2.23 GHz (10.3 TFLOPS)
System Memory GDDR6 16GB
448GB/s Bandwidth
448GB/s Bandwidth

What exactly is ray tracing, and how will it make PS5 games look better?

Hardware-based ray tracing acceleration is integrated into PS5’s graphics processing unit (GPU), and developers have many ways to tap into these capabilities.

In a nutshell, ray tracing in graphics simulates the way light interacts with objects and surfaces, with a goal of generating more in-game visual detail. PS5 game developers can take advantage of ray tracing to make the effects of water, glass, light refraction, shadows, and surfaces look more realistic or striking, depending on their goals for their game.

Broader benefits, such as unified lighting models or other advanced effects, are also possible depending on the developer’s goals for their PS5 title.

Additional Information

What buttons are featured on PS5?

The PS5 console has a Power button and an Eject button for Blu-ray Discs. The PS5 Digital Edition console only has a Power button.

How loud will PS5 be when I’m playing games?

Our goal is for PS5 to be quieter than PS4. This is due to changes in the power delivery and cooling systems, as well as custom engineering work including a custom heatsink and a liquid metal-based thermal interface material.

You can take a close look at PS5’s cooling system in our recent teardown video.

Does PS5 feature a rest mode? What functions are possible while in rest mode?

Yes. When the system is placed in rest mode, the screen will turn off, the status indicator will shift to orange, and PS5 will enter a low-power state. You can set the system to perform actions such as downloading files or charging the DualSense wireless controller from a USB port while it’s in rest mode.

Rest mode for PS5 will be enabled by default in all markets.

The DualSense Wireless Controller

What are the differences between the DualSense wireless controller and the DualShock 4 wireless controller?

The DualSense wireless controller elevates the way players engage with games. That’s thanks to several immersive next-generation features, including haptic feedback technology and adaptive triggers.

Both haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are designed to produce powerful tactile sensations that deepen player immersion and increase gaming interactivity.

Learn more about the DualSense wireless controller here.

What are the physical dimensions and weight for the DualSense wireless controller?

The DualSense wireless controller measures approximately 160mm x 66mm x 106mm (width x height x depth), excluding the largest projection. It weighs approximately 280g.

How does the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback technology work?

Next-generation haptic feedback replaces traditional “rumble” features with dual actuators, offering a more immersive suite of powerful physical sensations. We expect that game developers will find many interesting and useful ways to tap into DualSense wireless controller’s unique haptic capabilities, from deepening player immersion to communicating various gameplay states, and much more.

Players will be able to reduce the effect or disable the feature if they prefer.

How does the haptic feedback intensity of the DualSense wireless controller compare to the “rumble” feature from the DualShock 4 wireless controller?

In the case of traditional “rumble” technology, two small motors spin in order to create a vibrating or shaking sensation that can increase immersion.

The DualSense wireless controller’s next-generation haptic technology uses dual actuators instead of motors, and the results are quicker, more precise, and far more tactile. These haptic effects can produce a far wider range of physical sensations, from gentle pulsing centered in a specific part of the controller, to more robust physical effects.

When playing a PS4 game on PS5, the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic effects will simulate the “rumble” effects of the DualShock 4 wireless controller. Players interested in experiencing the PS4 game’s original “rumble” effects can use a DualShock 4 wireless controller to play PS4 games on their PS5. For games that require a front-facing lightbar, the DualShock 4 wireless controller is required.

For the best PS VR experience on PS5 we recommend using a DualShock 4 wireless controller. Selected games may require PlayStation Move motion controllers or be compatible with the PlayStation VR Aim controller.

Players will need to use a DualSense wireless controller to play PS5 games.

What are in-game examples of the haptic feedback used by the DualSense wireless controller?

Examples include the feeling of metal striking metal in Demon’s Souls or feeling the texture of the surface Astro runs across in Astro’s Playroom. There are plenty of other examples you can read here, straight from PS5 game developers.

How do the adaptive triggers work?

The new adaptive triggers – incorporated into the L2 and R2 buttons – can create powerful, real-time trigger effects that simulate your in-game actions. For example, a player could pull a bow string in a game and feel the resistance as the string grows taut. Or they could press the brake pedal in a driving game and feel the resistance as they steer around a tight curve. Read other examples here, straight from PS5 game developers.

Developers can independently program the resistance of each trigger, so we’re expecting to see some pretty creative implementations once PS5 launches!

Players will be able to reduce or disable the trigger effects if they prefer. If a game doesn’t use the feature, the L2 and R2 buttons behave similarly to the buttons on the DualShock 4 wireless controller.

Does the DualSense wireless controller include a built-in speaker?

Thanks to a higher sampling frequency and acoustic improvements, the DualSense wireless controller’s integrated speaker produces clearer sounds than the DualShock 4 wireless controller.

Over the years, game developers have used DualShock 4 wireless controller’s speaker to boost immersion in creative ways, and we’re excited to see them carry on that tradition with the DualSense wireless controller.

Does the DualSense wireless controller include a built-in microphone?

Yes, the DualSense wireless controller’s integrated microphone array and built-in echo cancellation will enable players to quickly chat with friends without setting up a headset – ideal for jumping into a quick conversation with a friend. But if you’re planning to chat for an extended period, you may want to have a headset handy.

A mute button on the front of the DualSense wireless controller will allow users to toggle the mic on and off. A short button press will mute or unmute the controller mic, as well as the mic on a wired headset or USB headset, while a long press will mute the mic input as well as all PS5 audio output from your connected TV, speakers, or headset.

Does the DualSense wireless controller have a headset jack?

Yes, the DualSense wireless controller’s integrated headset jack will allow players to plug in a headset, earbuds, or another compatible audio device, similar to PS4. Players can also connect a wired headset and chat with friends in multiplayer games.

Will PS5 or the DualSense wireless controller support voice dictation?

Yes, players will be able to use dictation features to type messages or enter phrases for search, using either the DualSense wireless controller’s mic, or a headset mic. At launch, supported languages include Japanese, US English, UK English, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, Canadian French, Italian, and German.

Does the DualSense wireless controller feature motion controls?

Yes, the controller features an integrated six-axis motion sensing system (a three-axis gyroscope and a three-axis accelerometer).

Does the touch pad on the DualSense wireless controller have any new capabilities?

The touch pad is now slightly larger and easier for players to reach. The touch pad also features a light bar that can be used to show controller status and can display various colors to communicate gameplay status, similar to what you may have experienced with the DualShock 4 wireless controller.

Does the DualSense wireless controller have a ‘Share’ button?

Yes, the Create button is designed to build upon the success of our industry-first Share button. With the Create button, we’re once again empowering players to create engaging gameplay content to share with the world, or just to enjoy for themselves.

Watch our PS5 UX video to learn more about how the Create button works.

Does the DualSense wireless controller have a light bar?

Yes, the DualSense wireless controller features player-facing light bars. For PS4 games that require a forward-facing lightbar and are playable on PS5, players will need to use a DualShock 4 wireless controller for gameplay. For the best PS VR experience on PS5 we recommend using a DualShock 4 wireless controller. Selected games may require PlayStation Move motion controllers or be compatible with the PlayStation VR Aim controller.

The light bars on the DualSense wireless controller lay to the right and left of the touch pad, and can display various colors to communicate gameplay status, similar to what you may have experienced with the DualShock 4 wireless controller.

Below the touch pad, the player indicator will communicate which player you are — useful when playing locally with other people.

Will the DualSense wireless controller have improved input latency compared to the DualShock 4 controller?

Input latency has been optimized on the DualSense wireless controller compared to the DualShock 4 wireless controller.

Will DualSense controller support any accessibility options?

Yes, PS5 players will be able to reduce or disable the force of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Players can also remap buttons on the controller. And the DualSense wireless controller’s integrated microphone allows for voice dictation features, making it easier for players to search for content with their voice.

To learn more about other accessibility features available for PS5, read below.

How do I charge the DualSense wireless controller?

The DualSense wireless controller can be charged in two main ways. One is via the USB Type-C® port, which players can connect to PS5 (or a compatible charging device) using the included USB cable.

Additionally, the DualSense Charging Station (sold separately) can charge up to two controllers simultaneously.

How long will the DualSense controller last on a full charge? How long will it take to recharge?

Under most conditions, battery life is expected to be similar to the DualShock 4 wireless controller. Recharging time when connected to PS5 or the DualSense Charging Station is estimated at approximately three hours.

How many DualSense controllers can be connected to PS5 at any one time?

Up to four DualSense controllers can be connected to one PS5 at a time. When playing with multiple players locally, the DualSense wireless controller’s player indicator (located just under the touch pad) will communicate which player you are.

Can I connect the DualSense wireless controller to my PS5 via a USB cable, and play it in a “wired” mode?

Yes, the DualSense controller operates in a wireless mode using Bluetooth 5.1, or in a “wired” USB mode by connecting it directly to the PS5 using the included USB cable.

Does the DualSense wireless controller come in black (or any other color)?

In the future, other colors will become available. But there are no announcements to share at this time.

Can I use the DualSense wireless controller with my PS4 console?

The DualSense wireless controller is not compatible with the PS4 console.

Can I use my existing DualShock 4 wireless controller with my PS5?

For PS4 games played on PS5, players can use either the DualShock 4 wireless controller or the DualSense wireless controller.

PS5 games will require use of the DualSense wireless controller, as they have been designed to take advantage of its immersive new features.

For the best PS VR experience on PS5, we recommend using a DualShock 4 wireless controller. Select games may require PlayStation Move motion controllers or be compatible with the PlayStation VR Aim controller. The new HD Camera for PS5 is not compatible with PS VR.

PS VR games will also require the PS Camera (PS4) and the PS camera adaptor. Click here for more information.

Can I use the DualSense wireless controller with my PC?

Remote Play on PC supports the DualSense wireless controller via a USB wired connection.

The PS5 UX and Apps

PS5 User Experience

What were the goals of the PS5 user experience (UX)?

The goal was to ensure that play time is valuable and meaningful. PS5’s new user experience (UX) is completely centered on the player – to provide a truly next-generation experience with increased immediacy and deeper immersion, quickly connecting you to great games and a passionate gaming community.

What are some of the most notable differences in PS5’s user interface from PS4?

PS5’s new UX introduces a number of new features designed to make your gaming experiences more immediate, more immersive, and more personalized.

One of the highlights is the new Control Center, which works like an evolved version of the PS4 console’s Quick Menu. A single press of the PS button will bring up Control Center on PS5, providing immediate access to frequently used system features – all without leaving the game.

Activities are another new feature designed to bring you closer to key elements of gameplay. Activities are displayed via on-screen Cards in the Control Center and in the hubs of supported games, and enable you to discover new gameplay opportunities, return to things you missed, jump directly into levels or challenges you want to play, and much more.

Other types of Cards include Game Help, Screen Sharing, and more. Some cards can be put in picture-in-picture mode or pin-to-side mode, so you can view them without having to leave the game.

To learn more about the PS5 user experience, watch our video tour.

Will PS5 automatically download game patches and game updates for the games that I’ve played?

Yes. When the auto-download feature is activated and you’re connected to the internet, PS5 will automatically search for game updates for games that you frequently play. Game updates will also download while the console is in rest mode, if the user selects a power profile that allows connection to the internet. When you play a game, PS5 will automatically search for game updates.

If I’m not online, can I install system updates via a USB drive?

Yes, as with the PS4 console, you will be able to download new system software updates to your PC from PlayStation.com and transfer them to PS5 using a USB drive formatted for FAT32.

What is Game Help, and how does it work?

Game Help is a system-level feature for PS Plus members only on PS5 that may offer helpful hints, tips, and tricks to help you move forward in select PS5 games. The feature is purely optional, but it’s designed to be quicker and easier than searching the web for some types of tips and should help you avoid game spoilers.

On PS5, the newly upgraded Parties are fast, convenient, and richly interactive places. Want to play a few multiplayer games? Jump straight into a match with your Party participants – no further invites required.

Want to chat with a friend while showing off what you’re playing? Start a voice chat in your Party and you can activate the “Share Screen” feature, which uses low-latency technology so you can show you friends what you’re playing now in real time, while keeping an eye on their game progress, too.

Creating and Sharing Content

How does the new Create button on the DualSense wireless controller work?

The Create button gives players the ability to capture just the right moment in their gaming session. In the Create menu, you can choose to save a portion of your past gameplay, start a manual recording, take a great screenshot, or broadcast gameplay.

Additionally, the most common controls that players like to change (recording resolution, screenshot format, whether to include voice chat audio in the recording) are easily available without having to leave the game.

What video length can I capture on PS5?

PS5 automatically captures the last 60 minutes of gameplay. To save the footage, you’ll press the Create button and select “save recent gameplay.” There, you can select as little as the last 15 seconds, up to the last 60 minutes of your play session.

PS5 automatically captures the past 60 minutes of your gameplay at 1080p resolution. 4K resolution is also available if you manually record your gameplay using the Create button.

What resolution will video content be captured at?

By default, recorded video is saved at 1080p and up to 60 frames per second. 4K video recording is also available if you manually record your gameplay using the Create button.

There is a setting in the Create Menu called Manual Recording Resolution, which is visible when your PS5 is connected to a 4K capable TV. Players will be able to choose between 1920×1080 (default) or 3840×2160. The setting stays until you or another player on your console changes it or connects the console to a non-4K TV.

Where are my captured screenshots and video content stored on PS5?

Share Factory Studio on PS5 provides a new set of tools and many new features, such as 4K HDR video support. Create visual wonders and share them for others to see!

What are Share Screen and Share Play?

Share Screen is a new feature for PS5. Share Screen allows a user to broadcast their game screen in real time to up to 16 Party members in a voice chat. Think of it as a small-scale game broadcast session between friends.

While using Share Screen, a player can use Share Play (active PlayStation Plus subscription required), to pass a “virtual controller” to another voice chat participant, who can then play the game remotely for up to one hour while the Party continues to watch and chat.

Share Play will also allow up to two players to play a local co-op game together, even if the other player does not own the game.

Can I transfer my captured media (gameplay clips, screenshots) from PS4 to PS5?

No, though you can export them via the built-in Capture Gallery application to a compatible USB drive from your PS4 console for safekeeping.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon Review – Feeling Like a Hero

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio gambles it all in the latest entry to the Yakuza franchise titled, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, as it takes the series into a bold, risky, new direction. Curious? Read our Yakuza: Like a Dragon review to find out what makes this installment stand out.

New Man, New Tattoos

A new batch of faces, living in a sea of tales in a yet so familiar city, Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the eighth main line entry in the Yakuza series and serves as a start to new beginnings. Taking place roughly three  years after the events of Yakuza 6, players will take on the role of coming up Yakuza member, Ichiban Kasuga.

After being rescued by the head of the Arakawa family, Ichiban dedicates his life to being a Yakuza. Unlike the typical member, Ichiban is a kinder, noble, and most of all, loyal Yakuza, following his own gut instinct in what he believes a true Yakuza should be. However, as fate would have it, Ichiban would soon find himself taking the blame for a murder he did not commit in order to help prevent an all out war with a rival family. After spending 15 long years in prison, an unchanged Ichiban is released into a very different world that he left. Only one thing is on his mind and that is to get back in with the Arakawa family. Unfortunately he soon finds out that the family he fought to protect is now on the side of the very same threat that wanted them out. Now seeking answers, Ichiban finds himself in the middle of an all out war covered in a shroud of twists and deception.

Look, if you’ve played any of the past Yakuza games and loved them for their stories, then without a question of a doubt you are going to love the one presented in Like a Dragon. It has the series’ drama-filled narrative set on a rollercoaster of high emotions. And while it certainly calls back to past game events, with some familiar faces here and there, new players will find no issue with fitting in as everything is told from a whole new perspective.

This does go without saying that the characters are extremely likable and relatable. Ichiban in particular feels like a mix of Kiryu with his morally high view of helping everyone out, but has the charismatic of Majima (Kiryu’s rival) when it comes to dialogue and action. His personality feels far more fleshed out than any new character before, with you knowing exactly who he is within the first hours of game time. After all, this is a new fresh start for the series, so it’s important that the new character fits right in with not just the world, but with fans, and most of all, new players. I should mention that while the title did release a year at the start of this year (2020) in Japan, the Western release does feature optional English dub.

I’ve grown custom to listening to the Japanese dub with English sub titles, though the performance of the English cast is surprisingly good. I do recommend first time players to play through it with Japanese voices as it does feel to have a whole different emotional range, but at least the option is there for those who prefer less reading.

One Punch at a Time

Being a long time Yakuza fan (since PS2), the news that Like a Dragon would be trading off its beat-’em-up combo mashing for turned-based combat, drew much fear out of many. I mean, Yakuza games have always prided themselves on being heavy on their Japanese drama narrative, but the character themselves are as tough as they get and the gameplay has always shown that.

Walking down the streets of Kamurochō as Kiryu (series previous protagonist) has always felt badass, and the combat of just non-stop beating down was all too fun for the time. Admittedly, I do think the series had gotten stale (gameplay wise) over the decades of releases, though 0 & both Kiwami brought much needed refinement and improvements. Regardless, the whole beat-’em-up combat has always been in the roots of the Yakuza franchise, so the rise of concern over the new gameplay is definitely a divisive one.

However, after spending 30+  hours with the main campaign and some side-quests, I’m glad to say that this is still very much a Yakuza game, despite playing differently. Inspired by a lot of turned-based games before it, Like a Dragon embeds the fast-paced action that players have come to love with some classic, long yearning turned-based combat.

Much like classic Final Fantasy games, the flow of combat goes you attack with all your characters and then the enemy. It’s nothing really groundbreaking truth be told, yet it feels satisfying because it fits so darn well with the setting of Yakuza.

Yakuza games have always had a grounded experience, with any of the silliness being “within” some sort of logic. Yet with the turned-based combat, it truly allows to developers to lean more into the wackiness of the series. Now, I don’t want to spoil things, but for comparison sake, expect to see a lot of Final Fantasy-esque summoning’s along with a number of ridiculously stupid moments. It’s a very fun game, and the turned-based element really adds to it, especially when taking into account some of the story explanation behind the ridiculousness. I mean, the game features an encyclopedia of all the enemy variants (and there’s tons) and classifies them as “Sujimon,” which is a clear rip-off of Pokémon. There’s so much that the game adds because of the RPG elements, most of which are just hilarious yet fit perfectly in the massive world that the series has crafted.

There are a few things I wasn’t a big fan on, that being the strange spikes in difficulty and the fact that characters move on their own during combat. The former is something that can hopefully be patched, but the latter is a rather big annoyance. Seeing them following strange paths, or running into objects just to get to enemies did slow the combat down, and AoE (area of effect) attacks would often manage to just hit a few targets, since a character wasn’t close enough. I don’t mind that characters can move about, just don’t take their control away from me. It’s a system that doesn’t feel unified at all, thus leads to frustration during combat. I’m also not very big on the job class system as often they were overlooked with characters being spec into their strongest, and unique skillset.

Touching a bit on the spike on difficulty, expect to see a lot of grinding. While RPG fans are no stranger to difficulty spikes accompanied with grind, the placement of it (latter parts the game) just feels out of nowhere and in an excessive amount. Probably spent a good few hours grinding out my level and earning a large amount of cash that just seemed unnecessary in length.

A Dragon Showing It’s Age

Visually, the game looks amazing on the PS4, and for the most this has been true ever since Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio made the switch many years ago with Yakuza 6. I’ve never had any complaints about the game visuals, and I feel that Yakuza: Like A Dragon peaks out everything the engine can do on current-gen system. Details are abundant in the environments, and character models look stunning and filled with deep expressions. The coloring is astonishing,  I personally feel the series doesn’t get enough praise for it’s visuals, always loved that aspect of Yakuza games and seeing the studio go through changes with each iterations is always a pleasant surprise.

However, it has become more and more clearer since the release of Yakuza 6 that the engine has become somewhat taxing on the current-gen hardware. frame rate dips are pretty noticeable when exploring the world, with cutscenes even having some slowdowns. This has always been an issue since the introduction of the Dragon Engine, and while it doesn’t make the experience unplayable in anyway, those debating on whether they should play it on current-gen or next-gen will undoubtedly have the better experience on the newer hardware. Still, the engine does at least utilize whatever juice it can get out of the PS4, which only leaves us excited to see where it goes when a Yakuza game is built from the ground up for next-gen.

A True Yakuza

Honestly, there’s very little to dislike about Yakuza: Like a Dragon. While the gameplay is a drastic departure from what fans have grown to love, the change is one that is done excellently well that it fits right in with the series. At the end of the day, Like A Dragon is still very much a true Yakuza game, narrative driven with fun, addicting gameplay that is easy to pick-up by anyone. A fresh, bold new start for the franchise that still holds true to it’s roots. I for one am looking forward to see the future of the franchise. Hopefully it continues down the road of being a turned-based title, all while reinventing itself as it goes.

SCORE 9/10

Pros

  • Excellent fresh start to the series that will satisfy old and new fans.
  • Turned-base gameplay is overall satisfying, and fits right with the Yakuza series
  • Well written story, with enjoyable characters. Performance is fantastic from both the English and Japanese voice cast.
  • Visually the best looking Yakuza game to date, not just in terms of details, but in use of colors and effects.

Cons

  • In battle movement is controlled by AI, can lead to frustrating situations
  • FPS on the PS4 Pro dips, causing slow downs in free roam and during cutscenes.

Fortnite Update 2.93 November 9 Patch Notes:

Here’s the official changelog from Epic Games:

We are deploying a maintenance patch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. This will allow us to fix the issue with Matchmaking portals in Creative on these platforms.

We will update you when Creative Matchmaking portals are re-enabled.

Yep, that’s basically it! For the list of changes and datamined content in the most recent Fortnite patch called v14.50, head on over here. Given today’s update, we most likely won’t get a patch tomorrow or Thursday.

Borderlands 3 Update 1.19 November 9 Adds Support for Designer’s Cut & More

Gearbox is dropping the patch Borderlands fans looking to chew on new content have been waiting for! The Borderlands 3 update 1.19 November 9 patch is out now, and adds support for the Designer’s Cut and other gameplay changes.

Borderlands 3 Update 1.19 November 9 Patch Notes:

Today we will release an update for Borderlands 3, which will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PST. This update adds support for the new add-on Designer’s Cut, including Arms Race and a fourth skill tree for the Vault Hunters, Mayhem 11, adjustments to character balance, and other reported concerns. Today, the ECHOcast also received an update to support the Designer’s Cut!

NEW CONTENT

  • Added support for Designer’s Cut

– Added a fourth Skill Tree for each Vault Hunter
– Added Arms Race
– Added Multiverse Final Form Cosmetics to those that own the Season Pass

  • Added Mayhem 11

Dev Note: Mayhem 11 is a copy of Mayhem 10 without any active modifiers. In this Mayhem level, the quality and amount of rewards from world drops are cut in half. Mayhem 10 gear does drop in Mayhem 11, so there is no need to re-farm any gear at this level. You can choose to gear up your characters quickly using Mayhem 10 or use Mayhem 11 to gear up more slowly with no modifiers.

  • Updated Anointments to Support Fourth Skill Tree

Dev Note: As part of updating Anointments to support the new trees, we’ve also changed them to not activate on missed activations. The Siren can no longer “Fakegrasp” to activate Anointments, and the Beastmaster can no longer Gamma Burst while looking at the sky to trigger Anointments. We are monitoring how these changes affect these characters and their builds and are looking to adjust as necessary in the future. Our goal is to make sure that no Vault Hunter has an unfair advantage related to Anointments activating.

  • Added 14 new Action Skill Damage Anointments

Dev Note: We’ve added a new series of Action Skill Damage Anointments for all skill trees. Now all Vault Hunter Action Skills have Anointments to buff their damage.

GENERAL

  • Removed Mayhem Level Gear from enemies
  • Added support Final Form character cosmetics to New-U stations
  • Updated some loading screen tips for added clarity
  • Modified audio priority system for player gunshots
  • Optimized audio memory
  • Optimized animation memory
  • Prevented the Countdown at the start of Takedowns from flashing on the screen too quickly
  • Updated the ECHO device to show the correct character portrait when characters spoke
  • Addressed a reported concern where the Photo Mode would not activate when accessing it through the Quick Menu
  • Resetting the camera using the Reset Camera function in Photo Mode will no longer reset to a random location
  • Loading screens no longer appear zoomed in when in non-standard aspect ratios
  • Optimized UI performance
  • Prevented the ECHO Map from rotating unexpectedly
  • Updated the Citizen Science Machine to prevent it from occasionally not functioning
  • Addressed a reported concern where enemies did not spawn during the “Defend BALEX” objective during the mission “The Family Jewel” in Voracious Canopy
  • Addressed a reported concern where the Eridium deposit failed to appear during the “Break Eridium Deposit” objective during the mission “Beneath the Meridian” in The Forgotten Basilica
  • Nativized Hotfixes

STABILITY

  • Fixed a reported concern where the host could crash when a client ended the Iron Bear Action Skill
  • Fixed a reported concern where the game could crash when viewing Fast Travel Stations on the ECHO Map

MATCHMAKING

With the changes below, we hope to improve the matchmaking times for all types of content. As a reminder, you can always access Matchmaking via the Social menu.

  • Added Arms Race to Matchmaking
  • Combined Trials and Circle of Slaughters into a single matchmaking pool
  • Addressed issue where players matching from a Takedown map would be put into a separate matchmaking pool
  • Updated matchmaking pools to only consider whether Mayhem Mode is enabled or disabled, instead of creating a pool for each Mayhem Level

CHARACTERS

ZANE, THE OPERATIVE

With today’s patch, we have made several changes to Zane’s Skill Trees and Class Mods. Our goals with these changes are to increase the Skill Tree build diversity as well as remove the reliance on one Class Mod for builds. While making these changes, we determined that certain skills should be moved on their respective skill trees to a different position.

For these skill changes to apply properly, Zane players will need to save/quit their characters once to have their trees updated to these new layouts. Skill points that were in the four swapped skills will be refunded when they load their characters the second time. If a player does not have enough points invested to unlock a high-tier skill they have previously applied points to, they will need to re-apply the refunded skill points before using those high-tier skills.

SKILL TREE CHANGES

Hitman Tree

Death Follows Close is an incredibly strong passive skill, much stronger than the effects of the capstone Seein’ Red. This feels backward, so we have swapped the position of these two skills to better represent their value relative to each other. Please remember the changes require you to save/quit your character once to function properly.

  • Swapped the positions of Death Follows Close and Seein’ Red on the Skill Tree
  • Added Kill Skill Bonus +15% to Seein’ Red

Under Cover Tree

Like the Hitman Tree, the mid-tier passive and capstone skills of this tree had an inverted value relative to their position. This change also allows players to get more value out of their shields and Barrier via Distributed Denial being much lower in the tree. Please remember the changes require you to save/quit your character once to function properly.

  • Swapped the positions of Confident Competence and Distributed Denial on the Skill Tree
  • Buffed Gun Damage from Confident Competence

Double Agent Tree

Given the percent chance of Duct Tape Mod proccing, it could spell disaster for Zane in close quarters combat. Now players don’t have to worry about accidentally downing themselves when a grenade is launched.

  • Duct Tape Mod now grants Zane immunity to damage from his weapons and grenades

CLASS MODS

Infiltrator

  • Reworked the ability to allow the shield to refill before it is broken whenever an Action Skill is activated

Seein’ Dead

This Class Mod has been over-performing, so we have removed some of the power from the mod. To counter this change, the Seein’ Red passive skill within Zane’s Hitman Skill Tree has been given a buff, effectively giving all players access to additional damage without the requirement of using this Class Mod.

  • Lowered the Kill Skill Damage bonus

AMARA, THE SIREN

Certain types of damage were unintentionally being passed to other enemies caught in the Siren’s Phasegrasp. This change prevents those interactions, but no other changes have been made to this skill. A previous hotfix did not address all the issues discovered and this solution is a more robust, permanent solution.

  • Updated Ties that Bind to only pass weapon and melee damage to enemies
  • Weapon Anointments that increase weapon or melee damage after Phaseslam now properly increases damage
  • Updated Muse Class Mod to prevent double-dipping on damage modifiers

FL4K, THE BEASTMASTER

  • Pets will now receive damage buffs from the global grenade anointment
  • Addressed a reported concern that when dealing critical hits in rapid succession while using the Rakk Attack Action Skill and Headcount Passive, Rakk Attack charges would not be gained properly, and the cooldown timer was reset

ECHOCAST UPDATE

  • Added support for next-gen consoles, Microsoft Xbox S/X and the Sony PlayStation 5.
  • Added support for 4th Skill Trees to Twitch ECHOcast
  • Added support for Arms Race to Twitch ECHOcast
  • When watching a streamer using the ECHOcast during Arms Race, the inventory, skill trees, and Guardian Rank tabs are hidden. The Rare Chest Event is also deactivated and replaced with the Extractor Breach Event
  • When in Arms Race, a new Map Tab is shown, which renders the in-game map along with points of interest. Points of interest are:

– Player location
– Respawn locations
– Extractor locations
– Boss area
– Death circle size, location, and time between states

  • Added a new Arms Race event to the ECHOcast: Extractor Breach!

This new ECHOcast event will allow viewers an opportunity to win streamer items in a setting that makes sense for Arms Race! In Arms Race, players must extract dropped gear to keep it to use outside of the game mode. This event gives viewers the chance to win items the streamer extracts from the game mode during play and after defeating the final boss.

HOTFIXES

These changes will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PT. To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that reads, “Hotfixes Applied!” If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.

  • Enabled purple E-Tech pistols to drop in-game
  • Increased the resolution of the images on Zer0’s Bounty Board in Sanctuary III
  • Addressed a previous change that was causing some PC users to be unable to drop equipped gear

WEAPON ADJUSTMENTS

Faisor

  • Increased weapon damage

ION LASER

  • Increased weapon damage
  • Increased number of projectiles that are released when the laser stops

Shredifier

  • Increased weapon damage

Trevanator

  • Increased weapon damage

Tunguska

  • Increased weapon damage

Linc

  • Increased weapon damage

Rebel Yell

  • Increased weapon damage

Hornet

  • Increased weapon damage
  • Increased splash damage radius

Nemesis

  • Increased weapon damage

Flakker

  • Increased weapon damage

Note that Gearbox has also said that Zane players will need to save/quit once to have their trees updated.

Enjoy the new stuff, Vault Hunters!

MARKARTH DLC GAME PACK
New Zone – The Reach
The epic conclusion of the Dark Heart of Skyrim arrives with the Markarth DLC. The army of Vampires and Werewolves known as the Gray Host has turned its attention to the Reach, searching for an ancient relic of power to aid in their eternal conquest. Will you aid the Reachfolk in their hour of need? From the walled city of Markarth to the Druadach Mountains, from the depths of Blackreach to the River Karth, the Reach beckons and waits to be explored! But darkness lurks below the surface, ready to spread like a plague from the shadows. The Reach needs heroes. Are you prepared to face the Dark Heart of Skyrim one last time?

  • Markarth is suitable for characters of all levels. Travel to the Reach using any of these methods:
    • Use a Wayshrine to travel directly to the city of Markarth in the Reach.
    • Accept “The Despot of Markarth” quest from the Stories section in the Collections UI.
  • This exciting zone includes a full story with many new quests, two new Delves, and two powerful World Bosses.
  • In addition to the region known as the Reach, go beneath the surface to explore a new section of Blackreach!
  • Complete the zone stories in both the Greymoor Chapter and the Markarth DLC to unlock a bonus questline—the final confrontation with the Gray Host and the Vampire Lord that leads it!

New Solo Arena – Vateshran Hollows
In the southern Reach there is an ancient cave of the Spiritblood Clan known as Vateshran Hollows. Reachmen from all across the land make their way here and perform the Vateshran Rites to prove themselves worthy of being called Reachmen. Do you have what it takes to venture into the Hollows and face down the nightmares within? Do you have the strength of a Reachman?

  • Vateshran Hollows is a new solo Arena located in the southern section of The Reach.
  • The Arena includes a normal and challenging Veteran version.
  • There are unique item sets as well as all-new skill augmenting “Vateshran” weapons, much like those seen in previous arenas. Additionally, you’ll also be able to acquire the following:
    • Unique Achievement awards are available for completing the Arena
    • A unique skin
    • A new dye
    • Several Titles
    • Unique housing items
  • The Veteran version of Vateshran Hollows will qualify anyone who completes it for the Leaderboards.
  • As with Maelstrom Arena, the quest “Vateshran’s Rites” will save progress in the Arena, though doing so in Veteran will prevent qualification for the Leaderboards.

  • The “Darkstorm Emerald” dye can be obtained by earning the “Savior of the Reach” achievement.
  • The “Void Pitch” dye can be obtained by earning the “Honor to the Spiritblood” achievement.

New Furnishings
This update includes more than 40 new plans for Dwarven furnishings in the Markarth style. These can be found across the Reach, alongside the Solitude furnishing plans from Western Skyrim. To make room for these new Dwarven plans while keeping the Solitude plans available at their usual rate, older furnishing plans from other styles are less common than usual in the Reach.

You’ll also find new Markarth-specific achievement furnishings for sale by Tirudilmo, as well as a small selection of Home Goods furnishings from Averio Brassac, both of which can be found in the city of Markarth.

In addition to the usual Antique Map of the Reach, there are two new antiquity furnishings to seek out in the Reach:

  • Red Eagle Cave Painting
    • Though this cave painting stands tall, the legend of Red Eagle stands taller still among those living in the Reach … and beyond. The visceral impact of this piece may just haunt your dreams.
  • Vampiric Stained Glass
    • The dramatic reds and blacks of this stained glass form striking iconography, making it a must-have for any vampire seeking to decorate their sanctuary.

Find and collect ‘em all! With so many Item Sets in ESO, it can be hard to keep track of them all, much less find them. With a new “sticker book” interface in the Collections menu, you can easily see all the Item Sets in the game (not included those that are crafted), where they drop, and even their combat bonuses.

A new way to manage Item Set pieces! No more storing hundreds and hundreds of Item Set pieces on bank alts. Once an Item Set piece has been collected, Transmute Stations will allow you to reconstruct an infinite number of copies of that piece for only a small Transmute Crystal cost or booster materials, depending on the quality.

  • The “Sticker Book”
    • Under the Collections menu, you’ll find a new tab called “Sets” that categorizes all the dropped Item Sets in the game. By acquiring and binding an Item Set piece to your character, you will unlock the “sticker” of that slot.
    • As you collect more pieces, the progress bars will slowly increase and the Transmute Crystal cost to reconstruct them will decrease, encouraging you to collect all the pieces of each Item Set.
    • The first time you log in to each of your characters, it will automatically detect all bound Item Set pieces they are holding, in the Bank, or from Housing storage, and add them to the sticker book. Be sure to log in with every one of your characters that is holding Item Sets!
    • Keep in mind this new sticker book is not inventory space – you are free to do whatever you wish with the original item, such as selling to a vendor or deconstructing it. You also don’t need to worry about the item’s trait as long as you’ve researched it, or quality if you have the boosters for it, since you can choose those when you reconstruct it.
  • Reconstruction
    • At a Transmute Station, you’ll find a new tab called “Reconstruct” that allows you to effortlessly recreate any Item Set piece you have added to your sticker book.
    • Reconstruction only costs Transmute Crystals when you create the item at the regular quality it drops at, but you can choose to spend additional crafting boosters to upgrade its quality. You also can pick any trait for the item that you have researched for that slot at no cost (not even a trait stone is needed).
    • The cost is variable depending on how many pieces of that set you have collected – you get bonuses to the cost to make it cheaper if you collect more pieces. It costs 75 Transmute Crystals when you only have 1 piece of that Item Set, and 25 Transmute Crystals once you have collected every single piece of that Item Set.
    • Your newly-created item will be marked as “reconstructed” and cannot be traded or sold, but you can deconstruct it to get a small refund of 25 Transmute Crystals.

Transmute Crystal Update
To better enable you to use the new Item Set Collections system, we’ve increased the cap of Transmute Crystals! Now you can hold up to 500 Transmute Crystals (or 1,000 if you’re an ESO+ member).

We’ve increased the number of Transmute Crystals you can earn from most PvE sources, including Undaunted Pledges, LFG rewards, Trial Weekly Quests, and Arena and Trial Leaderboards. We’ve also increased the number of Transmute Crystals you can earn from the Battleground Leaderboards. As part of this, we’ve removed the small chance of obtaining a single Transmute Crystal from simply slaying the Final Boss in a Dungeon.

We’ll be monitoring how Transmute Crystals are obtained and used in the coming months, as well as your feedback, and may make additional adjustments to Transmute Crystal sourcing in the future.

Battlegrounds Updates
In this update, we are testing the re-addition of group queuing to Battlegrounds, where players of group sizes up to 4 can join the queue together and be placed on the same team. Solo players can join this queue, or they can join the solo queue to be matched exclusively with other solo players. With this change, we have also removed specific game types to help promote overall queue health. We’ve also made additional improvements to Battleground matchmaking to help promote better long-term match making.

New Craftable Consumable: Alliance War Skill Boosters
We’ve introduced a new set of consumables: the Colovian War Torte, the Molten War Torte, and the White-Gold War Torte. These items increase the rate at which you advance your Alliance War Skill Lines by 50%, 100%, or 150%, respectively.

  • When can you use these?
    • The War Tortes can be used by any character Level 10 or above.
  • What do these consumables’ boosts do?
    • The boost applies only towards advancing your Alliance War Skill Lines. They do not help you earn more AP, become Emperor, or gain a place in the Leaderboard.
  • What stacks with what?
    • War Tortes will not stack with one another. If you’ve just consumed a War Torte of any kind, you cannot consume another War Torte until the first one’s duration runs out.
    • War Tortes are considered a food for the purposes of Provisioning. However, they do not prevent you from also having a food or drink buff active. This means you can eat a Colovian War Torte, immediately eat a Mistral Banana-Bunny Hash, and you will have both effects active on you.
      • If you have the Chef passive, you’ll make more units of War Torts per crafting attempt. This means that, at maximum Chef rank, you’ll make four units of War Torte every time you craft one of their recipes.
      • If you have the Gourmand passive, the duration of any War Tortes you eat will be increased. This means that, at maximum Gourmand rank, each unit of War Torte you eat will last 50 minutes, rather than the listed 30 minutes.
    • Taken together, someone who is both a fully-ranked Chef and Gourmand creating War Torte for their own use will get a total of three hours and twenty minutes of Alliance Skill boost from a single crafting of the recipe.
    • War Tortes also do not prevent you from having an EXP-boosting consumable’s effect active.
  • How do you make War Tortes?
    • Colovian War Torte
      • The recipe for the Colovian War Torte (the baseline, 50% boost item) can be found rarely in the wilds of Cyrodiil, from a curious, green-glowing book.
      • This recipe requires a new ingredient, Cyrodiil Citrus. These sweet fruits can be obtained by completing quests in any of the five towns in Cyrodiil.
    • Molten War Torte
      • The recipe for the Molten War Torte requires a recipe scroll for the Colovian War Torte. You’ll need to combine that with Chef Arquitius’s Torte Dissertation. This tome can be obtained from Tel Var General Merchants for 500,000 Tel Var stones.
      • The Molten War Torte requires a unit of Colovian War Torte, and a new ingredient, Rubyblossom Extract. This ingredient can be purchased from Tel Var General Merchants for 100,000 Tel Var stones.
    • White-Gold War Torte
      • The recipe for the White-Gold War Torte requires a recipe scroll for the Molten War Torte. You’ll need to combine that with Chef Arquitius’s Lost Thesis. This tome can be obtained from completing a Battleground; while it is exceptionally rare, it is more likely to drop the more victorious you are in battle.
      • The White-Gold War Torte requires a unit of Molten War Torte, as well as a new ingredient, Mourning Dew.  This item is found, very rarely, from crafting resource nodes throughout Cyrodiil.
    • All three recipes require you have your Provisioner Recipe Quality passive at Rank 4, and your Recipe Improvement passive at Rank 6; that is, both must be maxed out.

New PvP Emote
The Rage of the Reach Emote can be acquired by combining 30 Siege of Cyrodiil Merits, available by completing District Quests in the Imperial City, with a Siege of Cyrodiil Commendation, available for purchase from Tel Var General Merchants in the Imperial City.

Character Pathing “Align to Terrain” Option
You can now choose whether a character should Align to Terrain while pathing in your home. This setting is enabled by default and is the behavior you are already familiar with; it does its best to keep pathing characters touching the floor (or whatever may happen to be beneath them.) If you choose to disable this setting, the character will move smoothly from node to node, ignoring obstacles completely. This is intended primarily for flying pets but can be used in other creative ways!

Client Optimization & Stability
In Update 28, we’ve made some improvements to client performance in situations where there are many players using many abilities (e.g. Cyrodiil). These situations are some of the most demanding we have in the game from a performance perspective. Now with optimizations to parallelization, thread contention, and sorting, players in these intense scenarios should see a reduced impact to FPS and therefore a smoother overall experience.

General

  • Fixed a few instances where players you witnessed using a movement ability such as a charge, teleport, or blink could fail to properly animate.
  • Fixed an issue where activating instant cast area-bound abilities could cause your character to stop moving briefly.
  • Made several improvements to Light and Heavy Attacks as a result of the PTS test we held in March earlier this year:
    • Fixed an issue where Medium Attacks (non-fully charged Heavy Attacks) could deal less damage than Light Attacks in some cases, and more damage than fully charged Heavy Attacks in others.
    • Reduced the damage from all ranged Light and Medium Attacks by 10% to ensure they meet ranged damage standards. Heavy Attacks already meet these standards.
    • All Light, Medium, and Heavy Attacks now have a 700ms cooldown unique to their weapon configuration (Dual Wield, One Hand and Shield, etc.) rather than varying amounts between 500ms and 1 second. Cast times of Heavy Attacks have been increased or decreased to ensure their total Cast Time + Cooldown remains the same at this time.
    • All Light, Medium, and Heavy Attacks now dynamically scale with your highest offensive stats.
    • Removed the 200ms delay on Lightning and Restoration Staff Heavy Attacks, preventing some weird hiccups or stutters they could encounter.
    • Fixed an issue where Dual Wield Heavy Attacks would calculate their Sneak Attack damage incorrectly in some cases, producing absurdly high results.
    • Volendrung’s Medium Attacks now properly scale between Light and Heavy Attacks, rather than a flat 5000 damage regardless of charge time. Volendrung’s Heavy Attack damage has been reduced to 7560, down from 10,0000, to meet the normal scaling of a 2 handed weapon.
  • Fixed an instance where using movement abilities could cause you to snap back to your original point.
  • Battle Spirit: Reduced the healing penalty to 55%, down from 60%, to make up for some reductions of Healing Done and Taken we’ve taken out of the game.
  • Item sets and passives that generate Ultimate now require you to be in combat to activate, to help reduce their ability to continuously enter a fight at full Ultimate.
  • Fixed an issue where the Charged Lightning and Bone Wall synergies did not remove their synergies from others when activated.
  • Fixed an issue where activating the Blessed Shards synergy could remove other active abilities, such as Volley, when synergized.
  • Fixed numerous issues with Heavy Attacks sometimes missing targets while strafing and weaving.
  • Pets can no longer be commanded to attack innocent NPCs if the “Prevent Attacking Innocents” game setting is on.
  • Fixed an issue where tether abilities and sets, such as Shocking Siphon or Stone Husk, were not properly treated as Area of Effect Damage for bonuses such as Ancient Knowledge or Major Evasion.
  • Fixed an issue where using some abilities, such as Shield Wall, could desync your Stamina while blocking.

Buffs and Debuffs

All Major and Minor Buffs and Debuffs have been hard coded to go through server validation sooner and more effectively as cached values, rather than abilities that exist on your character. This new system will also properly ensure that no two same buffs or debuffs can ever stack in effectiveness, rather than needing to be individually spot checked on each application. It will also prioritize duration-based sources rather than permanent ones, so you do not need to fear losing their effects. While doing so, we have also properly reigned in the power of these effects into our Set Bonus Efficiency (SBE) standard; Minor effects are now worth 2 set bonuses (previously between .4 and 4.2) and Major effects are worth 4 (previously between 2.14 and 13.3). The new values can be found below.

  • Minor Expedition: Increased to 15%, up from 10%.
  • Major Savagery and Prophecy: Increased to 12%, up from 10%.
  • Minor Breach: Increased to 2974, up from 1320.
  • Major Breach:
    • Increased to 5948, up from 5280.
    • Major Breach now affects both Physical and Spell Resistance equally.
  • Minor and Major Fracture: Yeeted from this plane of existence to embrace its missing other half, Minor and Major Ward.
  • Minor Resolve: Increased to 2974, up from 1320.
  • Major Resolve: Increased to 5948, up from 5280.
  • Minor Fortitude/Endurance/Intellect: Increased to 20%, up from 10%
  • Major Fortitude/Endurance/Intellect: Increased to 40%, up from 20%.
  • Minor Defile: Decreased to 8%, down from 15%.
  • Major Defile: Decreased to 16%, down from 30%.
  • Major Mending: Decreased to 16%, down from 25%.
  • Major Vitality: Decreased to 16%, down from 30%.
  • Major Evasion: Decreased to 20%, down from 25%
  • Minor Berserk: Decreased to 5%, down from 8%.
  • Major Berserk: Decreased to 10%, down from 25%.
  • Minor Protection: Decreased to 5%, down from 8%.
  • Major Protection: Decreased to 10%, down from 30%.
  • Minor Maim: Decreased to 5%, down from 15%.
  • Major Maim: Decreased to 10%, down from 25%.
  • Minor Vulnerability: Decreased to 5%, down from 8%.
  • Major Vulnerability: Decreased to 10%, down from 25%.
  • Minor Magickasteal: Decreased to 168 per hit, down from 300.
  • Major Aegis and Slayer:
    • Decreased to 10%, down from 15%.
    • Fixed an issue where Aegis was additive rather than multiplicative.
  • Minor Courage: Increased to 215, up from 129.
  • Major Courage: Increased to 430, up from 258.
  • Major Force: Increased to 20%, up from 15%.
  • [NEW] Minor Brittle: Increases the target’s Critical Damage taken by 10%
  • Major Brittle: Increases the target’s Critical Damage taken by 20%. Not yet sourced.
  • Minor Cowardice: This debuff has been reworked, and now reduces the target’s Weapon and Spell Damage by 215, rather than increasing their Ultimate cost abilities by 60%.
  • [NEW] Major Cowardice: Reduces a target’s Weapon and Spell Damage by 430.
  • Empower:
    • This buff now applies to all Light, Medium, and Heavy Attacks for its duration, and is no longer consumed on use.
    • The following sources of Empower now last 3 seconds, down from 5 to reflect the change that Empower is no longer consumed:
      • Aegis of Galenwae
      • Might of the Guild
      • Empowering Grip
      • Wrecking Blow
      • Ambush

Now that these bonuses have been reigned in, we have also made sure to keep item sets in their intended SBE range, so we have done a pass on all sets that source these effects to ensure that. While each of these bonuses is normally worth 2 for Minor and 4 for Major, they are worth .5 less than their original value while sourced on an item set, since they are mainly sourced via the abilities and passives in the game. This ensures if you opt to run a set that grants you a permanent major or minor buff, you’ll gain some extra effectiveness on top of that to ensure they aren’t completely wasted if you gain access to the buff from another source. We have not done a full pass on class abilities since the SBE system is generally meant to be designed for non-abilities; that said, we will keep a close eye on class functionality in PvE and PvP due to these changes.

Necromancer

  • Grave Lord
    • Blastbones: Made some improvements to the cooldown duration of this ability, to reduce the chances of it becoming locked out despite the skeleton dying.
    • Frozen Colossus:
      • Removed this Ultimate and the morphs’ Major Vulnerability invulnerability.
      • Increased the duration of Major Vulnerability applied from these to 12 seconds per hit, up from 8. This will increase the total duration to 15 seconds per cast.

Nightblade

  • Assassination
    • Executioner: This passive now restores 500/1000 Magicka and Stamina when it procs, rather than 938/1876 Magicka or Stamina depending on your highest maximum.
    • Master Assassin: This passive now increases your Physical and Spell Penetration against targets you are flanking by 1487/2974, rather than your Weapon and Spell Damage against them by 129/258.
      • Developer Comment:
    • While this passive is now in a much better place regarding its accessibility and use cases from Update 27, the class was performing a bit too well in high end PvE DPS. With the adjustment to Penetration, you can expect a little more damage in non-optimized PvE and PvP encounters against high mitigation targets, while tuning back some of their scaling in high end PvE content and specialized gank builds in PvP.
  • Shadow
    • Path of Darkness
      • Refreshing Path (morph): Fixed an issue where the visuals from this ability’s heal could last much longer than intended.
    • Summon Shade: Fixed an issue where this ability and morphs’ pet could attack innocents in some cases.
  • Siphoning
    • Soul Shred
      • Soul Siphon (morph): Fixed an issue where this Ultimate could aggro enemies, despite dealing no damage.
    • Drain Power
      • Power Extraction (morph):
        • This morph now applies Minor Cowardice to enemies hit, rather than reducing their Weapon and Spell Damage by a unique amount. This will result in a larger decrease in Weapon and Spell Damage, but one that cannot be stacked with other sources.
        • Reduced the base duration by 1 second, but the ability now ranks up in duration of this by 1 second per rank, up to 10 seconds.

Templar

  • Aedric Spear
    • Spear Shards: Fixed an issue where the synergy from this ability could remove other synergies after being consumed.
    • Sun Shield
      • Blazing Shield (morph): Fixed an issue where this ability’s explosion visuals would multiply in intensity with the number of enemies hit, causing your screen to experience level 7 earthquakes and your eyes to be blinded with the brilliance of Meridia. The explosions will now always appear as well, regardless if you dealt damage.
  • Restoring Light
    • Healing Ritual
      • Ritual of Rebirth (morph): Fixed an issue where this heal was targeting the ally furthest from you within its range, rather than prioritizing allies who need the heal.

Warden

  • Animal Companions
    • Feral Guardian: Fixed an issue where this Ultimate and morphs’ special attack, Crushing Swipe, could fail to hit large monsters like Dragons or Titans.
    • Scorch
      • Subterranean Assault (morph):
        • This morph no longer applies Fracture, as Deep Fissure now affects all Armor.
        • This ability now recasts itself after completing, once per cast.

Weapon

  • Destruction Staff
    • Frost Staves have received adjustments to help them further stand out as a Tank and Support-oriented weapon type! Check out each ability adjusted to see what’s changed with the Frost version of the ability.
      Developer Comment:

      • The original intent of the Frost Staff line was to enable Magicka users to successfully tank in PvE and PvP scenarios. Many of the tools provided by Frost Staff abilities either did not hold up to other tanking abilities, or directly conflicted with other Destruction Staff abilities. For Update 28, one of our goals was to update the Frost Staff line to address these concerns, making the Frost Staff abilities more in line with our tanking gameplay while also removing the pain points from the Staff. We also added more overall utility to the Frost Staff skills, giving them more viability as a backbar weapon to compliment support and bruiser playstyles.

        • Applying Chilled while actively holding a Frost Staff now applies Minor Brittle in addition to its other effects. Note that the Staff must be on your active bar when Chilled is applied for this to proc.
        • Ancient Knowledge: Fixed an issue where the Block Mitigation granted from this passive could fail to apply against certain attacks while equipping a Frost Staff.
        • Destruction Expert: This passive now also grants 900/1800 Magicka whenever you absorb damage with a Frost Staff damage shield. This new effect can occur once every 10 seconds.
        • Destructive Touch: Fixed an issue where this ability and the Destructive Clench morph would aggro enemies before dealing damage.
          • Destructive Clench (morph): The Frost version of this morph now taunts enemies for 15 seconds.
        • Impulse: Each elemental type of this ability and its morphs have gained new functionality.
          • Flame Impulse now deals bonus damage that scales based on missing health if the target hit was burning.
          • Frost Impulse now applies Minor Protection to up to 6 group members for 6 seconds.
          • Shock Impulse now deals 5% more damage for each enemy hit, up to 30%.
        • Tri-Focus:
          • This passive no longer causes your Heavy Attacks with a Frost Staff to taunt the enemy.
          • Increased the strength of the Damage Shield granted from Heavy Attacking with a Frost Staff to 12.5/25% of your Max Health, up from 4/8%.
        • Wall of Elements:
          • The Frost version of this ability now applies a Damage Shield to you and 5 nearby group members that absorbs projectiles.
          • Wall of Frost and its morphs will now cost 4050 Magicka at base, rather than 3780.
          • Fixed an issue where the Shock version of this ability and its morphs was not capped at hitting 6 targets, despite having auxiliary debuffs.
            • Elemental Blockade (morph): The Frost version of this morph now also applies an additional, smaller shield on you and group members in the area when it ends.
      • One Hand and Shield
        • Deadly Bash: Fixed an issue where this passive could be active while not wearing a Sword and Shield, which caused your character to fail to bash properly when at low Stamina, making you appear to jitter as if you drank Tamriel’s largest cup of coffee spiked with moon sugar.
        • Puncture: This ability now applies Major Breach rather than Fracture.
          • Pierce Armor (morph): This morph now applies Minor Breach as well.
        • Shield Wall: Fixed an issue where activating this Ultimate or its morphs while wearing item sets such as Frozen Watcher could trigger their effects permanently.
      • Two Handed
        • Berserker Strike: Fixed an issue where this Ultimate and morphs’ camera shake when striking multiple targets would make you experience a brief but violent earthquake. The camera shake is now the same despite how many enemies you hit and is much more tame.

      Armor

      • Fixed an issue where some passives bonuses did not apply to your pets.

      World

      • Fixed an issue that could cause the experience bar for the Soul Magic skill line to display the incorrect amount of current experience for some characters.
      • Werewolf
        • Transforming into a Werewolf in front of NPCs will now properly be considered a criminal act and generate Infamy.
        • Roar and Hircine’s Bounty: These abilities now always apply their Major Buffs while slotting, rather than only while in Werewolf form. This will fix issues where slotting these abilities outside of Werewolf form could prevent you from gaining their effects from any source.
          • Hircine’s Rage (morph): This morph now increases your damage taken by 8 to 5% depending on rank, down from 23 to 20%.

      Guild

      • Dark Brotherhood
        • Padomaic Spirit: This passive now triggers whenever you kill an enemy with the Blade of Woe, rather than whenever you kill a citizen. This means it will now work on non-civilian type enemies if you use the Blade of Woe, but will no longer proc off kills on civilians with non-Blade of Woe means. In addition to these changes, this passive will now have significantly less performance implications than before.
      • Mages Guild
        • Fire Rune: Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs’ screen shake would multiply based on the amount of targets hit, causing your camera to violently shake.
      • Undaunted
        • Trapping Webs: Fixed numerous visual issues with this ability and its morphs.

      Champion System

      • Reduced the Weapon and Spell Critical Chance granted from Perfect Strike and Spell Precision to 3% each, down from 9%.

      General

      • You can now obtain Staves in the Kyne’s Kiss set.
      • Fixed an issue which prevented Restoration Staves from dropping in the Shadow of the Red Mountain set.
      • Fixed an issue where the Raiding Target Dummy did not have Major Vulnerability applied to it.
      • Updated the tooltips for Hircine’s Veneer and Worm’s Ramient to match their actual bonuses.

      Consumables

      • Potions and Poisons that apply Minor Defile now properly mention they also affect Health Recovery in their tooltips.
      • Potions and Poisons that once applied Minor Fracture or Breach have been made into unique bonuses. These values remain at -1320 and -5280.
      • Activating a consumable or other quick slotted item will no longer cancel in-progress casts, and instead will now wait until after the cast is complete.

      Crafted Sets

      • Daedric Trickery:
        • The Major Buffs granted from this set now last 21 seconds, up from 16.
        • Reduced the cooldown of getting a Major Buff to 9 seconds, down from 20. This means if the Mad God favors you, you can have up to 3 Major Buffs active at once from this set, or if he is displeased, only 1. Will you be tempted by his honeyed words?
      • Hist Bark: This set’s 3-piece bonus is now Max Stamina, rather than Health Recovery.
      • Innate Axiom: Fixed an issue where this set’s bonus Weapon and Spell Damage did not apply to special activates from pets, such as Summon Familiar’s damage pulse.

        • Added a 10 second cooldown to the heal.
      • Oblivion’s Foe: Oblivion’s realms have been full as of late with the poor souls affected by this set, so it is being reworked again. Whenever you deal damage with Soul Magic using the 5-piece bonus, you mark the target’s soul, dealing 12820 Magic Damage over 10 seconds. This set will not refresh itself on targets it is already active on and will wait for the duration to end before reapplying.
        • 2 piece: 129 Weapon and Spell Damage

      • Haven of Ursus:

        • Fixed an issue where the shield was not enhanced by the Harmony trait.
      • Healer’s Habit: This set now grants an additional 5% Healing Done when wearing 5 pieces.

        • Increased the duration of Giant’s Might to 15 seconds, up from 10.
        • Fixed an issue where Giant’s Might didn’t have a cooldown, which made it possible to create a situation if it was already active and you Heavy Attacked, you could get stuck in a perpetual state of gaining 0 Weapon Damage.
        • These increases in power are to make up for the fact that bar swapping off the set causes you to lose all stacks, which is intended.

        • Increased the duration to 8 seconds, up from 5.
        • Increased cooldown from this set to 16 seconds, up from 15.
      • Zaan: Fixed an issue where this set was not properly labeled as a proc.

Destiny 2 Update 2.02 Beyond Light Pre-Load Now Live, Here’s What We Know

Guardians, the big Destiny 2 expansion — Beyond Light — is but mere days from launching! To help ease server loads, Bungie has released the Destiny 2 update 2.02 patch this weekend for PS4 owners, and yep, this is the big Beyond Light update clocking in at 59GB!

Note that this patch isn’t out on PC and Xbox One just yet as far as we’re aware.

Destiny 2 Update 2.02 Patch Notes:

Before the big Beyond Light patch notes are officially revealed, Bungie gave out a sneak peek of what’s in the 2.02 patch. Note that this is not the full patch notes, but more of a patch preview.

Archives
Beginning November 10, two new kiosks will be available in the Tower. First up, the Quest Archive will be found next to the Postmaster. Our hope is that this removes some of the confusion when trying to track down the odd quest that you previously discarded. Additionally, this will be the place for any veteran players to pick up the New Light Quest on November 10, if they have a strong desire to experience new player tutorials and the (re-)introduction to the Cosmodrome.
Next up, the Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive will be found by the Vault. Here, players may acquire various Exotics and Legendary Pinnacle/Pursuit weapons that were once available through now-retired quests. As many of these Exotics were tied to lengthy quests or difficult objectives, we wanted to make sure their prices reflected those previous efforts. Players will need an amount of Glimmer, destination materials, masterworking materials, and an Exotic Cipher or Ascendant Shard in order to purchase the Exotic or Legendary which they desire. We’re also introducing a currency, Spoils of Conquest, which can only be acquired when completing raids. This currency will be required for Exotics previously tied to Vaulted raids.
In the past, Exotic Ciphers were very limited in nature. While you can expect one to be available as part of the Season Pass, Xur will also offer a quest to earn one Exotic Cipher on a weekly cadence.
Now, let’s move on to some traditional patch notes…
Crucible
  • Trials of Osiris
      • Trials of Osiris Power level requirement increased to 1210.
      • Added ADEPT weapons and weapon mods to Flawless chest rewards.
      • Additional information here.
  • Maps
      • Added physics blockers to some out-of-bounds areas on Altar of Flame.
      • Added physics blockers to some out-of-bounds areas on Exodus Blue.
      • Added physics blockers to some out-of-bounds areas on Cauldron.
Player Identity
  • Login screens now have a dark background.
  • Updated the full-screen menus to have a dark background style.
  • Player waypoints now display Season Rank, HUD waypoints.
  • Added toggle functionality to the character screen, allowing the player to make a choice between Light and Dark subclasses.
      • Character screen visuals updated depending on player choice between Light and Dark.
Character Creation
  • Changed selection from “Male” & “Female” to “Masculine” & “Feminine.”
  • Guardian head and hair models have been replaced with improved versions.
      • Several color swatches have been changed to better represent the applied color.
      • Player’s previous head selections are still used.
Misc
  • Fixed a bug that prevented online friends from showing up in the roster on Stadia for players with more than 100 friends.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally prevented players from earning progress on bounties when joining an activity in progress.
  • This most notably impacted Iron Banner bounties and could cause players to have their Artifact Power bonus enabled during Iron Banner matches.
A few Sandbox changes that we missed in our Sandbox preview
  • Traveler’s Chosen
      • Reduced muzzle flash intensity.
  • Point of the Stag
      • Increased Point of the Stag’s Max Power Level to 1310.
  • Divinity
      • Fixed a bug that prevented some weapons from dealing precision damage to the Divinity cage (e.g. Eriana’s Vow).
  • Hunter Dodge
      • Increased Hunter’s Dodge cooldown by a few seconds.
      • (E.g. Tier 4, old cooldown: 22 sec. New cooldown: 26 sec.)
  • Anti-Champion Mods
      • Anti-barrier rounds will now penetrate Taken Phalanx shields.
      • All Anti-Champion mods have been shifted to armor, rather than taking a weapon mod slot.
  • Orbs of Light have been changed to Orbs of Power as they can now be consumed by Light and Dark subclasses.

Bungie has announced that the full patch notes will be revealed this Tuesday.

In addition to the patch notes, you can read up on a ton of Beyond Light details below.

Once the patch is released officially (on PC, Xbox One), along with the notes, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Modern Warfare & Warzone Update 1.29 Pre-Load Now Live for Mid-Season 6 Update

For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone players on PS4, Infinity Ward has released the Modern Warfare & Warzone update 1.29 patch as a pre-load for the Season 6 mid-season refresh! Note that this patch can’t be unlocked until Tuesday night (PT/ET)!

This is the expected Season 6 mid-season refresh/update that should bring new playlists, content and more. This patch is quite a chunky one weighting in at 30GB! Note that this patch isn’t available on PC or Xbox One just yet, so don’t fret if you don’t see it.

Modern Warfare & Warzone Update 1.29 Pre-Load Patch Notes:

Modern Warfare & Warzone Season 6 New Maps

The official patch notes are not available just yet, though one thing we’re certain that will make its way is, the switchblade melee weapon! Based on the Season 6 roadmap, that weapon is the only one that’s not yet available in the game. Check it out in the  “In Season” part of the image above.

Also worth nothing: next-gen consoles are coming this week! Chances are, the patch includes stuff for next-gen compatibility, though we can’t say for sure. That said, it has been happening for other PS4 games, so don’t be surprised if we get it for Modern Warfare & Warzone too.

Once we get the full patch notes, we’ll let our readers know ASAP.

In the meantime, if you haven’t checked it yet, make sure to read up on how Warzone will integrate into upcoming Black Ops Cold War, which is set for release this November 13.

First Wave of PS5 Units Have Begun Shipping From Sony

For those lucky enough to pre-order a PS5 console directly from the PlayStation site and are part of the first wave of shipment, you’ll be glad to know that Sony has officially begun shipping out the hardware just in time for the November 12 launch.

In an email update that is being sent out to buyers (including us) the company noted that the orders have officially shipped.

Additionally, for those who may not be home for the package to arrive you may want to know that the package will indeed require a signature and the carrier shipping the console is being handled by FedEx.

On a related note, if your order is shipping from a distribution center that is reasonably close, don’t expect to see it arrive any earlier than the expected delivery date as Sony has instructed FedEx to not deliver to homes until the expected date. This was verified on the FedEx website when viewing tracking information for our order.

If you’re excited for the console, well, then this should help make that more bearable — assuming you manage to pre-order one successfully. Just a few days ago, the first batch of PS5 reviews have surfaced, and we compiled them in one place! For those in Asia, there’s a PS5 event set to kick off this November 11! We’ll be sure to keep you posted if the company supplies an update for the region.

Stay tuned for more PS5 news that’s sure to surface in the coming days before launch.

Game Director Explains Apex Legends Season 7 Battle Pass Changes, Player’s “Best Interests in Mind”

This past week, Respawn Entertainment released Season 7 of Apex Legends. Not only did it introduce a new legend, map and vehicle, but there’s also a revamp on how the Battle Pass system works. For those unhappy with the Apex Legends Season 7 Battle Pass changes, Respawn has commented on it.

In a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), Game Director Chad Grenier explains the reasoning behind the Battle Pass changes, and states they have the player’s “best interests in mind.”

Before I get into the reason for the battlepass change, I’ll start by saying that the team has the player’s best interests in mind, and we are not trying to play negotiation games with our players. Respawn is made up of passionate gamers just like yourself. We also aren’t trying to secretly force you all into buying more battlepass levels. I promise you everyone here on the team are good people, passionate gamers, and just want whats best for the game.

There were really 2 changes to the battle pass, each had its own reason. First, we streamlined the challenge system to reward stars, and 10 stars is a battlepass level. We implemented this change with the intent to simplify how the battlepass works and more clearly indicate what a challenge is worth. The second change was to the difficulty or time investment needed on the challenges. We’ve seen in our data that most players were completing the battlepass about 2/3 through the season and then not having much left do to in the season. We believed that players would enjoy playing the game if they always had something to progress and earn, so we adjusted our challenges to hopefully give players something to accomplish in that final month of a season. This change had the players intest in mind, and was calculated in a manner that would still allow the majority of our players to finish leveling without purchasing additional levels.

The battlepass is about keeping players engaged throughout the season, so we’re not trying to do you wrong here. Obviously when these changes went live we heard your feedback loud and clear, and quickly put in a change that makes the challenges roughly 50% easier to complete, and we have more changes planned in the future to give players more agency on challenge completion. We appriciate your feedback on this change, but also please keep in mind that Respawn always has your interests in mind, so please assume positive intent!

Will we see a rollback to how the Battle Pass worked for the game in the future? I wouldn’t bet against it given how vocal the community has been,

In other Apex Legends news, EA has confirmed that development of the game will be finshed soon, and will launch in 2021!
