State of Decay 2 New Update Brings 60fps to Xbox Series X

A surprise State of Decay 2 new update has been released upping it’s performance and allowing higher frames-per-second (fps) on the Xbox Series X.

While State of Decay 2 did feature unlock FPS on the Xbox One console, it’s performance was rather hit and miss as noted by Digital Foundry. In fact, in their original testing they found that the Xbox One S ran at a higher resolution than the One X, though both consoles never hit 60FPS.

Performance on the Series X was also found to be similar up until yesterday when a new1GB patch that released. From what’s being reported on the internet, and some videos, this  update has introduced an increase in performance that allows the game to finally hit 60FPS.  This is according to Dealer- Gaming, a Youtube channel who has uploaded a new video showing off State of Decay 2 with noticeable frame-rate improvements. Have a watch down below.

While no in-depth analysis was done in this video, for those who have played State of Decay 2 on either the Xbox One or Series X will notice instantly from the video the far better FPS, along with the frame-pacing issue now seemingly being gone. No reports have been found if this update also improves performance on the Xbox One X.

Undead Labs have yet to comment on the release of the update, which is a bit surprising considering the bump in performance it brings. Hopefully we see some more Xbox One titles receiving updates so that they may take advantage of next-gen hardware. This goes without saying that the Series X already adds additional benefits to a number of backwards compatible titles without a need for an update.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 1.15 November 7 Slices Out (Update)

Heads up! Sucker Punch Productions has released the Ghost of Tsushima update 1.15 November 7! Clocking in at just 986MB, don’t expect any new content to be rolled out, as players just got the raid a week ago in a previous patch.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 1.15 November 7 Patch Notes:

Sucker Punch has released the official fixes:

  • One change confirmed by the community is being able to assassinate and critical hit enemies on fire.

Sucker Punch Productions has not commented on the patch just yet, and the PS4 update history only states the standard “General bug fixes and improvements” as notes.

We’re keeping an eye out on the game’s community and will update the post if we hear anything. If you spot any gameplay-related changes or even technical fixes, let us know down below in the comments.

If you haven’t picked the game up yet, I suggest doing so, as it’s one of the fronttunners for Game of the Year here on MP1st! Check out our review where we state, “If Ghost of Tsushima is the swan song game for the PS4, then it ends with a whirlwind of slashes, and it gives Sucker Punch the franchise it’s aiming for that stands toe to toe with the likes of God of War, Uncharted, and the rest of Sony’s impressive first-party studio games lineup. Rejoice, samurai warriors! Ghost of Tsushima lives up to the hype and even surpasses it. This is one Ghost you’ll want to see more of soon.”

Update: Added the official fixes from Sucker Punch.

The Division 2 Title Update 12 Overview and New Content Sneak Peek

While agents got a The Division 2 patch last month, it looks like the devs are already hard at work on The Division 2’s next update, which is Title Update 12, and it looks to be loaded with new stuff! In this week’s State of the Game, Ubisoft talked about The Division 2 Title Update 12, and gave us an overview of what we’re getting when it’s released!

First off, there is no ETA on when the patch will be released. However, even if that’s not known, Ubisoft has given us an overview of new stuff coming with this major patch. Expect new weapons, new gear, a new Global Event, an Optimization Station, and lots more!

The Division 2 Title Update 12 Overview:

Release Date: Unknown

Content

  • New Weapons
  • New Gear
  • New Brand
  • New Exotics
  • New Global Event
  • Optimization Station
  • Global Event Shop
  • Inventory Size Increase
  • Ability to display the Mask anywhere
  • Picking up Skills
  • Gear Mods Filter
  • The Summit Updates

Optimization Station

The Optimization Station will be a new menu accessible via the Recalibration Station and will require newly introduced resource currencies to operate. With it, you can improve gear Attributes beyond their current rolls to their upper limits.

For a price, you’ll be able to top off attributes to be 100% of their maximum value or bring items up to par. High-end and Exotic weapons and gear as well as Gear Set items are all able to be improved through optimization.

Location

Location:

Menu:

  • The Optimization Station is located at the same NPC as the Recalibration Station.

Process

Slot Selection:

Item Selection:

Stat Selection:

  • Open the Optimization Station
  • Select the Item you want to optimize (that includes Exotics)
  • Select the Stat you want to optimize
  • Each Stat is split up into 10 tiers and each tier has a price.
  • The cost of optimization is discounted based on partial progress to the next tier – so optimizing from 3.7% to 4% is cheaper than 3% to 4%. But 4% to 5% will be more expensive than both.
  • Every attribute of an item can be optimized individually, and each attribute’s cost is based on the tier of optimization.
  • You can combine recalibration and optimization – so recalibrate a bad Stat and optimize the better stats.

Optimization Materials

Every optimization will require a total of 4 different resources to complete. The cost of every optimization increases with every tier:

  • Item-Type Deconstruction Materials (Assault Rifle Alloy etc.)
    • These materials are gained from deconstructing other gear of the same type. Only high-end, Exotic, and Gear Set items will give this material.
    • For example, when you want to optimize pistols, you need to gather pistols, deconstruct them and then you can use these materials to optimize your pistol stats.
  • Control Point/Landmark Materials (Field Recon Data)
    • You can earn these from completing Control Points in the LZ, Landmarks in the DZ (they will always be uncontaminated), and the higher floors of The Summit. The amount yielded per activity scales directly with game difficulty.
  • Faction Materials (True Sons Tactical Assessment etc.)
    • These can be found from enemies of the various factions. The amount of this material that drops also scales directly with difficulty.
  • Project Materials (SHD Calibration)
    • These are materials gained from completing Daily and Weekly projects (PvE and PvP). Weekly Projects will give substantially more materials than Daily Projects.

All optimization materials can also be made separately through the Crafting Bench with standard crafting materials. Blueprints for these materials may be found by completing high-alert-level control points, and by completing certain projects.

Exceptions

There are limitations to what can be optimized, however.

Only level 40 High-end, Gear Set, and Exotic gear and weapons can be optimized. (no mods)

Optimized attributes cannot be recalibrated after beginning the process, so make sure you’re working with what you want to keep. Additionally, optimized stats cannot be added to the Recalibration library. Worn, Standard, Specialized, and Superior cannot be optimized and will not grant item-type materials from being deconstructed.

The Summit Improvements

For TU12 these improvements will be added to The Summit:

Challenges

Menu:

Tactical Selection:

Summary:

Rewards:

  • The Summit Challenges are tasks that you can complete while playing The Summit
  • There are two categories:
    • Tactical Challenges are sort-term goals
    • Ascent Challenges are long-term goals
  • You can only activate 1 Tactical + 1 Ascent challenge at a time
  • These challenges can only be completed once per ascent, once you reach level 100 they reset and you can do them again.
  • This is another way to mix up the gameplay and also get the resources you need for the endgame.
  • They are player-specific and not for the entire group.
  • You can select them on the map.

Rewards

  • Rewards rotate per Challenge completed:
    • XP (All)
    • Targeted Loot items (interval)
    • Summit Challenge Caches (interval)
      • Optimization & Recal Materials
  • Milestone rewards: (based on completed Challenges)
    • Blueprint + Spec Points (10th, 20th, 30th)
    • New Exotic Assault Rifle (5th)
    • Named Item Cache (20th)
    • Exotic Cache (30th)

Commendations

With TU12, The Summit got three new Commendations:

Quality of Life Improvements

Loot:

Gameplay:

Directive:

  • Guaranteed Targeted Loot rewards:
    • For each Checkpoint you unlock you will also be awarded a Targeted Loot item based on your selection and scaled based on the difficulty.
  • The Weekly Summit Project just requires to complete 30 floors
  • New Directive “Ragers” that will be added as a 10th Directive
  • More Objectives to the pool
  • Reduced frequency of the “Drone” Objectives
  • Slightly increased chance of Rogue Encounters on Legendary
  • Reduced cooldown between possible Rogue Encounters

Directive Ragers

Killing an enemy fills the Rage Meter of nearby hostiles. A full Rage Meter makes an enemy “enraged” (which grants overheal). Killing an Enraged enemy removes all the rage from nearby hostiles. Rage depletes over time. An empty Rage Meter makes an Enraged enemy return to normal.

Picking up Skills

  • With TU12 you are able to pick up your deployed Turret
  • When the Turret still has power left, it will be added to the cooldown.
  • So when you miss-place your Turret you can pick it up again and only have a very short cooldown.
  • This might work differently for the different Turret Variants

Always Show Mask

  • When you are on the Masks Slot you can click on options
  • At the bottom, there is a selection “Always Show Mask”
  • Activate that option and it will always display the Mask you have equipped.

Inventory Size Increase

  • With TU12 the inventory size has been increased to 150.
  • The Stash Size will remain the same.

New Mod Filters

  • With TU12 you can filter your mods by
    • Offensive
    • Defensive
    • Utility

Global Event Shop

With TU12 there has been a change in how Global Event rewards work:

  • You can earn stars by completing GE Challenges or leveling up while the Global Event is active.
  • These stars can then be spent in a Global Event shop
  • There you can buy different caches (Crafting Caches / Season Caches / Exotic Caches etc) for a specific amount of stars.
  • Spending Stars in the Global Event Store will not impact your Global Event progression
  • Unspent Stars will be lost when the Global Event ends.

Bighorn Buff

With TU12 the magazine size has been increased from 30-40

And that’s about it! Whew! Don’t forget, this is not the complete patch notes or the complete list of changes and new content coming in The Division Title Update 12!

Once we know more details about it, we’ll let yo know.

EA Has Plans to Release “Multiple New Franchises” in the Years Ahead

While publisher EA already has quite a number of franchises under its belt with Battlefield franchise alongside the company’s yearly sports games, it looks like we can expect quite a number of new ones to be announced this coming next-gen.

Speaking during the publisher’s earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced that alongside the publisher’s EA Sports portfolio, the publisher is planning to add “multiple new franchises” in the coming years.

We also have plans to add our core EA SPORTS portfolio with multiple new franchises in the years ahead. In addition to our college esports expansion that we’ve just announced with ING Group, in the weeks ahead we’ll share more about another major new development in our esports program capitalizing on our growing fan base and demand from esports teams, sponsors and broadcasters.

Hopefully, this doesn’t mean that other gaming properties from the publisher will be put to bed to make room for these new franchises.

In other EA-related news, the publisher has announced that it has extendd their partnership with the UFC for 10 more years.

New Black Ops Cold War Prestige System Outlined

Yesterday, Treyarch released details about the first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and even details regarding the player and weapon progression. In today’s info drop, Treyach has blown the lid wide open on the game’s new Black Ops Cold War Prestige system!

Treyatch is going with a revamped Prestige system called Seasonal Prestige!

New Black Ops Cold War Prestige System:

SEASONAL PRESTIGE: OUR DEEPEST PROGRESSION YET

Starting on Day One in Black Ops Cold War, players will begin the traditional progression path from Military Rank 1 to 55 to unlock new weapons, Perks, Wildcards, Scorestreaks, Field Upgrades, equipment, and more… and that’s just the beginning. Beyond this point, your Seasonal Prestige journey begins at Season Level 1.

After completing Military Ranks at Level 55, you’ll enter the Seasonal Leveling progression path and automatically earn your first Prestige at Season Level 1, keeping all of the Create-a-Class content you’ve unlocked already. During the Pre-Season period between launch and the beginning of Season One, you’ll have the opportunity to reach up to three Prestiges, as well as a Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50:

  • Prestige 1 at Season Level 1
  • Prestige 2 and Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50
  • Prestige 3 at Season Level 100

Then, starting with Season One in December, your level will reset with each new Season and your progress will resume from the highest Prestige you achieved in the previous Season. Each Season will offer four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, plus a new Weapon Blueprint to earn at level 50:

  • New Prestige and Weapon Blueprint at Season Level 50
  • New Prestige at Season Level 100
  • New Prestige at Season Level 150
  • New Prestige at Season Level 200

This means you can earn up to three Prestiges before Season One, and up to four Prestiges each Season after that for a total of 25+ Prestiges across all Seasons. You’ll always earn progress toward the Prestige that comes after your current one, and you’ll be able to catch up to the latest available Prestige if you didn’t reach it during the previous Season.

Treyarch has also detailed the new Prestige Master system as well. Players who reach the rank of Prestige Master will be able to change their icons.

If you reach level 200 in any Season, you’ll also achieve the title of Prestige Master for that Season. Your Prestige Level color will change to signify your Prestige Master status, and you’ll gain the ability to personalize your Prestige Icon with Legacy Prestige Icons from previous Call of Duty games that you’ve unlocked (more details on that below).

The journey doesn’t stop there if you want to keep climbing. Once you reach Prestige Master in a Season, you can continue to level up all the way to level 1000 every Season, with milestone rewards to earn at every 50 levels along the way.

With the Seasonal Prestige system, you’ll always have a single, continuous progression path across all Seasons, with more Prestige rewards to earn than ever before.

So, how does this compare to the traditional Prestige system in previous games? To summarize:

  • 25+ Prestige Levels to conquer across all Seasons (including the period between launch and Season One), instead of only 10 Prestiges to earn.
  • Six Prestige Master titles to earn by reaching level 200 in each Season, rather than only one opportunity throughout the entire game.
  • 1000 levels to climb in each Season, for when Prestige Master isn’t enough of a challenge.
  • Milestone rewards to earn at every 50 Season Levels.
  • For the first time, keep all of your Create-a-Class content after you Prestige.

Lastly, there are Prestige Keys and Seasonal Challenges as well.

SEASON CHALLENGES

Also beginning in Season One, new Season Challenges will provide even more ways to earn rewards throughout each Season. These will offer two collections of 20 Calling Cards per Season in Black Ops Cold War (20 for Multiplayer and 20 for Zombies), with new Challenges ungated in both collections at every 10 levels up to level 200.

Once a Season Challenge is ungated, it may be progressed and completed to earn its related Calling Card. After a player earns all Calling Cards in a collection, they will receive an animated Season Master Calling Card as a reward. Collect ‘em all!

PRESTIGING IS KEY

In addition to unlocking unique Prestige Icons with each new Prestige Level, you’ll also earn Prestige Keys as milestone rewards at every 50 Season Levels. At the new Prestige Shop, you can use Prestige Keys to unlock Legacy Prestige Icons from previous games, which can be equipped if you’ve achieved the title of Prestige Master in that Season.

The Prestige Shop will become available in Season One for players who have entered Prestige and earned their first Prestige Key. Prestige Shop content can only be unlocked with Prestige Keys, which are earned by playing the game. Once you unlock the Prestige Shop, it will be available from that point on – and with 1000 levels available per Season, you can reach up to 20 milestones each Season.

It seems Treyarch has found a good compromise this time around with the Prestige system and how seasonal ranks work.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Update 1.09 November 6 Slides Out

As expected given yesterday’s announcement, Vicarious Visions has released the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 update 1.09 November 6 patch, and it adds the Crash Bandicoot crossover and a bunch of other features.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Update 1.09 November 6 Patch Notes:

Worlds Collide with Crash Crossover. Crash is known for his mischievous maneuvers, and as such, Vicarious Visions couldn’t resist dropping him into Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 in a non-traditional way with some marsupial-inspired items from Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, players will enjoy Crash and Coco-branded in-game swag, including nine shirts, three hats and one skateboard deck.
The Birdman Pack Benefiting Charity. Created in collaboration with The Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation), the Birdman Pack features classic and additional boards from Birdhouse and Powell-Peralta not originally included in the game, as well as an exclusive new TSP deck created specifically for charity. This limited time Create-A-Skater 10-deck bundle will be available as DLC* for SRP $4.99, and 100% of Activision’s net proceeds for this pack will help support the construction of public skateparks for youth in underserved communities.
Shred with Each Skater in Solo Tours. Now, players will be able to replay Tours mode with individual skaters allowing them to max out stats with each of their favorite pros. At the start of each Solo Tour, all Goals and Medals will be reset, while current Tours mode will move to “Crew Tours” so previous progress will not be lost.
New Challenge Sets, Tuning and More. New objectives within online Multiplayer, Create-A-Park and Combo Practice will reward fans with plenty of XP and in-game Cash to spend at the Skate Shop, while skilled players will be able to reach Level 100 and earn XP faster. Multiplayer playlists will also be improved for better randomization of Parks and Scores in both Jams and Competitive modes.
Fan-Favorites from Create-A-Deck Contest. Three talented fans won the right to have their art featured as custom decks in Create-A-Skater as part of a recent community contest. Fans can ride these masterpieces in the game now.
If we spot any gameplay changes included that’s not mentioned above, we’ll update the post.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Next Update TU3.0.3 Out Next Week

Ghost Recon players, Ubisoft has announced details regarding the Ghost Recon Breakpoint next update, which is called TU3.0.3.  It will be out on November 9, and will add to the Ghost Experience mode introduced in March earlier this year.

The Ghost Experience update will let players further customize their experience with revamped stealth and AI parameters. Players will now be able to deal more damage in stealth mode and make use of the improved human AI to counterattack. Additionally, the update will feature improved drone behavior, cooking grenade as well as a new diversion tool: players can now throw a bullet casing to create distraction among enemies. Last, players will also be able to activate at will either the Terminator presence or the Rebel faction roaming in the world.

Title Update 3.0.3 will also feature a raid update allowing players to explore Golem Island solo, boss-free and complete dedicated objectives through Easy, Heroic and Solo Exploration modes:

  • Solo Exploration will involve no gear level requirement, feature regular enemy levels and have no raid boss. This mode will have 12 new milestone missions and focus on exploration, with improved navigation between sectors due to more cars and boats being available.
  • Threat Level: Critical (Hardcore mode) will increase enemy levels, give players four hearts that replenish and allow for respawning, and will feature three game modifiers each week. The mode will also include modified boss patterns, so there will be more enemy waves and shorter ability cooldowns. Additionally, four new weapons and five titles will be added to the loot table as exclusive rewards.
  • Threat Level: Low (Easy mode) will lower enemy levels, feature shorter respawn times for players and make enemies visible on the map. Additionally, boss patterns will be modified to have fewer enemies in waves, longer ability cooldowns and no second-phase boss fights. Easy mode will feature regular loot and no unique chests.

This Ghost Recon Breakpoint next update will also introduce an update to progression, adding rewards to Assault, Sharpshooter, Panther, Medic, Engineer, Echelon and Pathfinder classes. Class progression will also be extended through rank 20 and feature over 200 new challenges.

Once the patch is out, we’ll let our readers know ASAP.

EA CEO: Battlefield 2021 Given an Extra Year of Development, Confident in Launching Next Year

In case you didn’t know, a new Battlefield game is set to be released next year. EA CEO Andrew Wilson claims that Battlefield 2021 is an entry in the franchise in a “never-before-seen-scale,” and that it’ll be out in holiday 2021.

During yesterday’s earnings call, Wilson was asked if there’s a risk that the game won’t make launch on time. According to Wilson, they gave DICE an extra year of development time for Battlefield 2021, and that they are confident it’ll be out next year.

Alex Giaimo (Jeffries): So, just curious as you think towards next year in Battlefield obviously that’s a big theme for fiscal 2022. So just curious if you can provide an update about how you’re feeling about the development process? And if there’s any risk a year from now that maybe that game doesn’t launch on time? It would be helpful to get an update there.

Andrew Wilson: As we think about Battlefield next year again you heard me talk about we’re doing internal play testing. We’re starting to go out to our community and get feedback. I was part of the product review last week. We have rallied that entire studio around the development of Battlefield specifically. We’ve given them an extra year of development.

You’ll remember to ensure that they can in fact build a true next-gen vision around that game. DICE is one of the most talented studios on the planet and we’ve been able to add leadership from our EA SPORTS business and David Rutter who understands both live services and the rigor of development. We’ve brought in talent from across the industry who have really bolstered our belief and our confidence in our ability to launch that game next year. So lots more to come in the next couple of months.

This is definitely good news for Battlefield fans. Hopefully, the game lives up to fan expectations.

In other Battlefield news, we ran a poll on which game is the best Battlefield game of all-time, and have a giveaway for it too! Enter and vote that here.

PS5 Asia Showcase Celebration Event Planned for November 11

While Sony is set to launch the PS5 in select regions and countries next week, a huge chunk of Asia is still left in the dark when it comes to PS5 Asia launch plans. That might be changing soon, however, as Sony has announced a PS5 showcase celebration event for Asia for next week!

Accoring to Sony Hong Kong, the PS5 Asia Celebration Showcase will air on November 11 at 11 p.m. HKT, which is 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT. It will be broadcast on the PlayStation Hong Kong YouTube channel, and on the official PlayStation Hong Kong Facebook page.

Fans can expect an exclusive unboxing session with Singaporean singer JJ Lin, and Hong Kong hip hop duo FAMA will also be at the event to “share their gameplay experiences” with gamers.

People tuning in live can also expect to win rewards, with the grand prize being a brand-new PS5 console! There are also other prizes planned, and even a “Participation Prize” which is a PS4 theme!

Unfortunately though, it doesn’t answer the question on when gamers in Asia not in Japan and Singapore will be able to buy the PS5 or at what price. From our last inquiry, Sony just said that they are prepping for launch and will make an announcement once ready.

Hopefully, we’ll get more clarification by November 11.

In other PS5 news, it looks like the console will have an overheating message if it’s too hot to run! Sony has also showcased some of the game’s settings, and tucked away are “Game Presets,” which lets gamers choose settings for their console that will apply it to all the games the owner plays!

Apex Legends Mobile Development Will Be Completed This Year & Will Launch in 2021, JP Second Largest Market

While EA hasn’t been coy about the publisher’s intention of putting Apex Legends on mobile platforms, it still isn’t out outside of consoles and PC even if it was planned as early as mid-2019. That’s about to change soon, though, as EA has confirmed that the Apex Legends mobile version will finish development in 2020!

During the publisher’s latest earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that Apex Legends mobile development will be done by the New Year, and is on track to launch in fiscal year (FY) 2022, which means we’ll see it in 2020! In the same statement, Wilson announced that Japan is the second largest audience for Apex Legends, which is a bit surprising to hear, frankly.

Our live services are positioned to be a long-term growth driver. Having built Apex Legends into an amazing live service with a deeply engaged community, the talented Respawn team in Los Angeles has expanded Apex development to include a full team in our Vancouver location so that we can continue delivering more great content. Japan is now our second largest market for Apex Legends and we have strong plans to continue growth in that region. In addition, Apex mobile development will be complete in the New Year and ready for launch in FY 2022.

Well, there you have it. If you’re tired of Fortnite or PUBG on mobile, Apex Legends should be soaring your way soon. Let’s hope it manages to retain the charm and gameplay of the console versions.

Speaking of Apex Legends, make sure to check out the Season 7 for the game, which features a new legend, new map, and even the introduction of vehicles!

GENERAL UPDATES

Audio

  • Dead hunters no longer play the “healed” sound effect when they stop burning.

Gunplay

Sprinting

  • Refactored controls to allow more fluid transitions between equipment actions and sprinting.
  • Players are now able to sprint as soon as the aim input is lifted, even if a weapon is technically still in the firing process and applying recoil.
    • Previously the delay before players could sprint after firing a shot could only be circumvented by quickly switching equipment. This is no longer needed.
  • Applies to Hunter and Gunslinger controls schemes and all combinations of Aim Down Sights or Sprint set to toggle or hold.

Shooting

  • It is no longer possible to interrupt the firing process right after a shot, while it is still applying recoil.
  • Switching to other equipment is queued and executed right afterward.
  • Entering Dark Sight now follows the same rules as switching equipment in order to prevent recoil cancelling.

Aiming

  • Pistols that enter the Aim Down Sight state after a weapon switch have slightly increased sway, fading out over a short period of time.

Developer Notes:As some of you probably noticed already at this point, we have been looking into the “Quick Swap Mechanic” which became an integral part of the game for some players and has been much discussed in the community lately. We acknowledge that, which is why it will stay in the game. However – like all other mechanics in the game – it must also subject to balancing changes. The changes we made are meant to solve multiple issues:

Players often found themselves unable to start sprinting instantly after a shot was fired because the weapon was technically still aiming until all recoil was applied and therefore locking movement speed. We reworked parts of the system to ensure more player agency over their hunters’ mobility without the need for such workarounds. Overall the controls should feel a lot smoother and more responsive that way.

When we introduced the faster weapon swapping during Early Access, it was to try to remove some clunkiness from the controls. However – unintended by us – this change also gave rise to the dominant strategy to quickly swap to your second weapon after a shot and attempt to score a follow-up hit to finish your target off. While being a skill move, of course, it shifted the power of certain weapons, negating their built-in disadvantages like being a single-shot weapon too much. This strategy was further amplified around the 1.0 full release, where we reduced weapon sway across the board to make the game more accessible for newer players. Some players perfected this quick swap meta to the point that it started feeling abusive and “gamey” in a game that tries to use the rough mechanics and shortcomings of the weapons in a way to balance them against each other.

With these changes, we want to take one step back and reorder this part of the game a bit. Quick swap is meant to stay, but becomes a tad more difficult to pull off – hopefully making it less of a dominant strategy by veteran players and opening up the arsenal more to other options. Players will at least have to suffer the full recoil of the shot before they can change weapons, but on the other hand, they gain a lot of mobility out of the box.

Frag Bomb

  • Adjusted damage falloff resulting in higher chances of survival towards the range limit.
  • Shrapnels that reach players behind full cover only apply Intense Bleeding and no actual health damage.

Weapon Changes

  • Slightly increased the rate of fire for the LeMat Mark II revolver.
    • It shoots a little bit slower than the Caldwell Conversion with regular fire.
    • The fanning speed is comparable to the Caldwell Pax now.
  • Slightly reduced the rate of fire for the Nitro Express Rifle.
    • It is a bit slower now in firing the second barrel right after the first, in order to help with animation blending and the quick swap smoothing mentioned above.

Hunter

New Trait: Necromancer“Using Dark Sight revive a downed partner from a distance, though at the cost of a small amount of health.”

  • Available at Rank 69.
  • Costs 4 Upgrade points.
  • Used similarly to the Serpent trait (25m range, 10s channel time).
  • User loses 2.5 health per second during channeling.
  • Starting channeling will NOT stop the burning state of the corpse-like a manual revive does.

Developer Notes:We like what the Serpent trait brought to the game. It enables players to turn a tricky situation around, and it provokes new tactical decisions even when no one brought it into the match. In a similar fashion, “Necromancer” should make it more difficult to just wait an engagement out for teams that have the advantage anyway. It will require a better understanding of sightlines, positioning, and potential crossing points from all players involved. To keep the feeling of vulnerability during and after a revive we added the cost of health so that commitment is still key.

New Trait: Whispersmith“Reduces noise when selecting equipment.”

  • Available at Rank 32.
  • Costs 2 Upgrade points.

Matchmaking

  • Reduced the maximum matchmaking time for Bounty Hunt matches to 90 seconds
  • New player’s skill level is now adjusted to allow them an easier introduction to Hunt. It remains artificially lower until the end of the Trainee mode.

Bounty Hunt

Weapon Loot

  • There is a chance for weapons to be found in bounty hunt missions now.
  • Mostly but not exclusively low tier weapons (Unlock levels are generally below rank 10)
  • All weapon categories (close to long-range) are represented.
  • Weapons looted are marked as Contrabands.

Developer Notes:We like that players can commit to highly effective loadouts before a mission. However, we also understand that looting weapons from other hunters can sometimes enable players to adapt to new circumstances and open up new immediate strategies. With this change, we want to introduce more situations for players to make smart decisions.

Quickplay

Expanded starting equipment for QuickplayGlobal Changes

  • Added a first aid kit to every Quickplay recruit.
  • Removed First Aid kits from the spawn lists (they can’t be found anymore in Quickplay).

Random Class

  • Added the Specter Compact as possible starter equipment.
  • Added the Nagant M1895 Dual Wield as possible starter equipment.
  • Added the Caldwell Conversion Pistol Dual Wield as possible starter equipment.
  • Added the Nagant M1895 Silencer Dual Wield as possible starter equipment.

Medium Range Class

  • Added the Nagant M1895 Dual Wield as possible starter equipment.
  • Added the Caldwell Conversion Pistol Dual Wield as possible starter equipment.
  • Added the Nagant M1895 Silencer Dual Wield as possible starter equipment.

Short Range Class

  • Added the LeMat Mark II as possible starter equipment.
  • Added the Specter Compact as possible starter equipment.

Training

  • Optimized loading screen hints to better support new players with best practices and advice.
  • Slightly adjusted equipment and outfits of the first free Hunters a new player can choose from.

Training Boss replaced with Butcher

  • Players will now face the Butcher instead of the Spider in the training maps.
    • Basic: 25% health
    • Advanced: 50% health
    • Professional: Normal health.

Developers notes:We realized that for newer players, facing off against the Spider, an extremely mobile opponent while learning the controls and gameplay ended up being too frustrating as their first experience with the game.

The Butcher will allow players to pick up the basics of fighting bosses (making use of weapons scattered around, frenzy mode, dangerously strong attacks to dodge, etc.) while being much easier to hit, allowing them to get used to the combat and still feel the satisfaction of taking down a boss.

We hope that this, amongst the other changes we have been working on, will help to improve the overall onboarding experience!

Leaderboard

  • Player will be shown on the leaderboard only if they meet all those conditions:
    • Logged in within the last 30 days
    • Have at least 100 kill in Quickplay or 100 Kill or Assist in Bounty Hunt
    • Didn’t opt out from showing their stats publicly
    • Not banned
    • Played at least 50 hours

Store

  • Added Springfield Marksman “Archangel” for 400 Bloodbonds.
  • Added Martini-Henry Deadeye “Sacrosanct” for 600 Bloodbonds.
  • Added Martini-Henry Marksman “Oberon’s Hound” for 600 Bloodbonds.
  • Added Nagant Precision “Polar Star” for 300 Bloodbonds.

Miscellaneous

Double of Nothing DLCThe weapons in the “Double or Nothing” DLC have been split up. It is now possible to equip each pistol on its own, and mix and match with others of their type. They will still be shown as a unique weapon when the pair is equipped.

EA CEO: Next Battlefield Game in a “Never-Before-Seen Scale,” Undergoing Internal Testing

It’s common knowledge by now that DICE is hard at work on the next Battlefield game, and today, it seems we’re getting the first few official details regarding it!

During EA’s latests financials report, EA CEO Andrew Wilson commented on how DICE ‘s next entry in the franchise is on a “never-before-seen scale,” and that it’s currently in internal playtesting, which bodes well for the shooter.

DICE is creating our next Battlefield game with never-before-seen scale. The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver on a true next-gen vision for the franchise. We have hands-on play testing underway internally, and the team’s been getting very positive feedback on the game as we’ve begun to engage our community.

In the same report, Wilson confirmed that this new, yet-untitled Battlefield game will ship in holiday 2021, which should shock no one, as the franchise has regularly been released near its rival, the Call of Duty franchise.

This is good news, right, Battlefield fans? Hopefully, we get something closer to Battlefield 3 or 4 than to Battlefield 5.

In other Battlefield news, we are running a poll regarding which Battlefield game is the best of all-time (Bad Company 2 or BF3), and joining it could net you some sweet digital store credit!

Black Ops Cold War Player Progression, Weapon Progression & Operator Integration Revealed

With today’s big news regarding the Season 1 start date for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Activision has packed a ton of Black Ops Cold War news into one blog post. In addition to the Season 1 date, the Black Ops Cold War player progression, weapon progression, and how Operators will carry over from Warzone to Black Ops Cold War have been revealed too!

Ready? This is a huge info dump, though it’s not complete just yet, as the new Prestige system has been mentioned here, but Treyarch will go in-depth with it tomorrow!

Player Progression

Initial Briefing: Worlds have collided! For the first time in Call of Duty history, Season One brings universal and synchronized player progression that works between Black Ops Cold WarModern Warfare, and WarzoneBlack Ops Cold War progression builds on a familiar and similar path to Modern Warfare while incorporating an innovative Prestige system, giving you more challenges and earnable content.

Additional Intel: On November 13thBlack Ops Cold War is set to launch with an updated player progression system. Players will begin by completing Military Ranks, a traditional leveling journey to unlock functional gameplay items. Once completed, Black Ops Cold War players will enter an updated and improved Season Leveling that begins at game launch with the Pre-Season, and which becomes synchronized with all three games at the beginning of Season One on December 10th.

At the launch of Season One in December, the path to gaining XP and leveling up will be shared across all three Call of Duty titles: Black Ops Cold WarModern Warfare and Warzone. This Progression system is both familiar and innovative, allowing you to level up in all three titles no matter which game you play.

Player Progression Begins: Military Ranks and Modes

  • ·      Check the Barracks Menu of each title for a new change: Your Enlisted Ranks (Level 1-55) are now known as Military Ranks. These will be fully synchronized between all three games (beginning at launch for Black Ops Cold War players, and in Season One for Modern Warfare and Warzone players).
  • ·      This universal progression system means that you can level up (and obtain XP) no matter which of the titles you are playing!
  • ·      Progress in the usual manner by playing Multiplayer modes, completing Challenges (in either Black Ops Cold War or Modern Warfare) and Warzone matches.
  • ·      In addition, Black Ops Cold War Zombies shares this same progression too, so you’ll be able to level up no matter how you play!
  • Player Progression Reset
  • ·      To synchronize player progression across all three games, your initial (Military) rank will be reset within Modern Warfare and Warzone at the start of Black Ops Cold War Season One. This reset is synchronized to your current progression level in Black Ops Cold War when Season One begins.
  • ·      Don’t worry, only your XP is reset; everything you’ve previously unlocked remains available (like Weapons, Perks and Killstreaks in Modern Warfare for example).

Player Progression Continues: The Seasonal Prestige Leveling

  • ·      Your seasonal Officer Progression is now known as Season Levels, which incorporates a Seasonal Prestige leveling system. These are fully synchronized between all three games.
  • ·      As you begin Season Leveling, expect an updated interface to this leveling system.
  • ·      Seasonal Progression has been updated with aspects of the traditional Prestige system, allowing players to unlock and use rewards, including some incredibly cool legacy player identity items from the world of Black Ops!
  • ·      Leveling in Black Ops Cold WarWarzone or Modern Warfare all count toward your Season Leveling and Prestige Level.
  • ·      The preferred way to Prestige is by playing Black Ops Cold War, thanks to challenges focused on Black Ops Cold War gameplay, XP events and other advantages planned throughout the Seasons.
  • ·      Remember that a large proportion of this content is earnable or simply free, just by playing one or all of the three games.

More details regarding the new Prestige system, Prestige Master requirements and more are set to be announced tomorrow, November 6!

Weapon Progression*

Initial Briefing: At the start of Season One expect every weapon from Modern Warfare and new weapons from Black Ops Cold War to be accessible in Warzone, including Blueprints and camo variants. Mix and level up weapons both in Warzone and the game the weapon originated from.

Welcome to the largest weapons arsenal ever seen in Call of Duty!

Additional Intel: Every weapon you’ve unlocked in Modern Warfare, as well as every weapon you’re going to unlock in Black Ops Cold War, is planned to continue to be available in Warzone. This includes Modern Warfare Primary and Secondary weapons (including Blueprint variants). The current plan is for Warzone to also include all Primary and Secondary weapons available throughout the lifespan of Black Ops Cold War, including launch and Season weapons, as well as every single Weapon Blueprint. Naturally, this includes the assortment of free weapons you received during every Season of Modern Warfare, just for playing the game.

Note that your Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War weaponry will be shared with Warzone. We don’t currently have plans to remove any weapons from Warzone. You will not be able to use your Modern Warfare weapons in Black Ops Cold War, and vice versa.

In the Warzone Weapons menu, look for visible Black Ops and Modern Warfare logos on every weapon’s menu tile so you can immediately tell where your armament originated. When you earn or unlock a new weapon in Black Ops Cold War, it immediately appears for use in Warzone.

Warzone shares weapon progression with both Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare.

  • ·      Choose an available weapon from Black Ops Cold War or Modern Warfare and use it in Warzone.
  • ·      All XP and leveling counts both in Warzone and the game from which the weapon originated.
  • ·      Work to unlock weapons and attachments for any weapon you like in either game by playing that game or Warzone.
  • ·      What about base weapons that exist in Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare? Expect to be able to access available base weapons separately, with each game’s specific logo indicating the series it is available in, as well as the weapon’s level progression.
  • ·      At the start of Season One, Modern Warfare’s Perks, Lethal Equipment, Tactical Equipment, Field Upgrades, and specific Killstreaks will remain in Warzone.
  • ·      Modern Warfare players can rest easy; current plans are that any Modern Warfare weapons you’ve progressed, along with any unlocks (like the Damascus or Obsidian camos) are retained.

Operator Selection*

Initial Briefing: At launch, take any Operator you’ve unlocked from Modern Warfare or Black Ops Cold War into Verdansk, including any earnable and unlockable skins.

Additional Intel: With the advent of Black Ops Cold War Operators entering Warzone on November 13, expect an Operator select screen with more choices than ever before relating to who you’ll take on your next mission into Verdansk. As expected, Operator access is on a per title basis:

Woods and Garcia, ready for the drop. Take any unlocked Operator from Black Ops Cold War or Modern Warfare and enter Verdansk.

  • ·      Plans are for Operators from Modern Warfare, including all purchased and earned Skins, Quips, and Finishing Moves, to continue to be available in Warzone.
  • ·      All Operators from Black Ops Cold War, along with free, earned and purchased elements, are planned to be accessible once you unlock them in a variety of ways both in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
  • ·      Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare Operators that you obtain are intended to be available to play both in Warzone and the title from which they originate.
  • ·      There is only one exception, the indomitable Marine Corps Master Sergeant Frank Woods is accessible in all three games, though the only skin available in Modern Warfare is the one available if you purchase a digital pre-order of Black Ops Cold War, and that skin is only available in Modern Warfare and WarzoneClick here for more information.
  • ·      Purchase Black Ops Cold War and gain access to a number of new Cold War-era operatives, as well as new earnable and unlockable skins for them, which you can use in Warzone too.
Whew! That’s a lot to take in! Don’t forget, the new Prestige system for Black Ops Cold War will be revealed tomorrow!
