Nightfall – The Ordeal: Lake of Shadows

Modifiers:

  • Nightfall: The Ordeal: Adept
    • Empath: Enhanced radar. Take increased damage from melee.
  • Nightfall: The Ordeal: Hero
    • All previous modifiers
    • Champions: Unstoppable: This mode contains Unstoppable Champions, which cannot be stopped without an Unstoppable mod.
    • Champions: Overload: This mode contains Overload Champions, which cannot be stopped without an Overload mod.
    • Champions: Taken: This mode contains both Overload and Unstoppable Champions, which cannot be stopped without an Overload or Stagger mod, respectively.
    • Hero Modifiers: Extra Shields
    • Grask’s Bile: Incoming environmental damage increased. Knockback damage and distance increased.
  • Nightfall: The Ordeal: Legend
    • All previous modifiers
    • Equipment Locked: You will not be able to change your equipment after this activity starts.
    • Match Game: Enemy shields are highly resistant to all unmatched elemental damage.

    • Famine: All ammunition drops are significantly reduced.

DOOM Eternal August 4 Update to v1.06 Brings Game Improvements

Slayers, if you’re a fan of Battlemode in DOOM Eternal, id Software has your back today! The DOOM Eternal August 4 update or what the studio calls update 2.1 has a host of game improvements, and fixes on all plaforms.

DOOM Eternal August 4 update patch notes:

New Game Improvements for ALL platforms

  • Weapon Quick Switch has been enabled again in both Campaign and BATTLEMODE (Thanks again for all of your passionate community feedback!)
  • Made further improvements to networking latency in BATTLEMODE
  • Added the ability for the Mancubus to shoot after starting a double jump in BATTLEMODE
  • Maykr Drones have been added back in to some loadouts in BATTLEMODE bonus loot drops have been removed from headshots against the Maykr Drone in BATTLEMODE

New BATTLEMODE Balance Updates for PC Only


  • Reduced The Slayer’s Precision Bolt damage in BATTLEMODE against player demons from 400 damage to 300 damage
  • Reduced The Slayer’s starting bullet ammo in BATTLEMODE from 84 bullets to 72 bullets

  • Fixed a rare crash when the Archvile teleported while the BFG was equipped in BATTLEMODE
  • Fixed an issue in BATTLEMODE where enemy hit sound effects would revert to default after installing a new game patch

Known Issues

  • Demon Players may fall through the floor at round start in BATTLEMODE in rare circumstances (Players are teleported back into the map after the countdown timer ends or if a new round begins)
  • Demon Players may observe a dark screen in BATTLEMODE persisting during the countdown timer on the Torment map
  • The Demon Player HUD only displays the first two digits of the cooldown timer for instant resurrect and team heal
  • Unlock notifications for event and series unlock content only display when entering the Rewards menu or when restarting the title

Paladins Update 2.22 August 4 Patch Released

While players of Evil Mojo Games’ Paladins just got the big Radiant Stars update last week, the studio has rolled out a new update today, and as far as we know this is for the PS4 only. The Paladins update 2.22 August 4 patch is now out, and it’s a super small download clocking in at just 100MB.

Fall Guys Servers Running Into Issues, Mediatonic Upgrading Servers

In case you didn’t know, Mediatonic’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is out today on both PC and PS4. It seems the lovable giant blobs are a big hit, as players are throwing a ruckus due to the Fall Guys servers going down multiple times for both the PC and PS4.

On the game’s official Discord, developer Mediatonic has issued the following statement on the game being down, and how they’re BEEFING up the servers:

Update 21 Highlights

  • Fortifying ATLAS: Starting today, join the community in delivering construction supplies to ATLAS Observatory to help unlock events and new cosmetic rewards for everyone.
  • A Colossal Problem: In the coming weeks, you will be able to team up with other Dwellers to take on deadly beasts deep within Monongah Mine in this challenging new Public Event.
  • Meat Week: The biggest Meat Cook in all of Appalachia kicks off August 18 with the return of the Meat Week Seasonal Event.

Fortifying ATLAS

Starting today, you can take part in “Fortifying ATLAS,” a two-part community-wide effort to construct a prospective base for the Brotherhood of Steel. If the community successfully turns in enough supplies during the next few weeks, everyone will unlock events and new cosmetic rewards.

  • A man named Russell Dorsey believes the Brotherhood of Steel are headed to Appalachia, and that ATLAS Observatory in the Savage Divide will make a perfect makeshift HQ when they arrive.
    • Russell is heading up supply gathering efforts. He will ask everyone to help deliver an abundance of raw materials to aid in fortifying ATLAS over the next few weeks.
    • If the community delivers enough scrap of each type in time, all players will earn in-game rewards, including new Brotherhood of Steel themed cosmetics, a Purveyor Super Sale, a Double S.C.O.R.E. Daily event, and more!
    • Additionally, every time you contribute materials, you will receive “ATLAS Donor’s Provisions,” which you can open from your inventory to receive goodies and a chance at rare Plans.
  • Fortifying ATLAS will take place in two parts: Project Alpha, starting August 4, and Project Bravo, which starts on August 27.
    • Each Project has its own supply requirements, collection dates, and rewards.
    • Read our recent article catch all the scrap collection dates and rewards.

A Colossal Problem

  • Please note: Today’s update brings the new Public Event “A Colossal Problem” to the game. However, we are still making some performance tweaks and doing additional testing before we enable the event. We are planning to make “A Colossal Problem” available with a follow-up update in the next couple of weeks.

“A Colossal Problem” is an instanced multiplayer Public Event that will take place deep in the heart of Monongah Mine in the Savage Divide.

  • Once we’ve enabled “A Colossal Problem”, you will be able to meet Maggie Williams in Foundation to learn about Monongah Mine and begin the side quest “Something Sentimental.”
  • Unfortunately, the entrance to Monongah Mine has become blocked. You will have to blast your way inside by dropping a Nuke.
    • After launching your Nuke, a Public Event Icon will appear on the Map and all players will receive a notification that “A Colossal Problem” has begun.
    • If one instance of “A Colossal Problem” fills up, a new one will begin so that more players can start the event.
  • Once inside Monongah Mine, you and your event mates will have a few minutes to prepare.
    • This challenging encounter is tuned for characters who are level 50 or higher, and we recommend teaming up with others.
    • When the prep time ends, you will drop deeper into the belly of the Mine and begin the battle against a towering legendary Wendigo Colossus and some of its closest friends.
    • In addition to enemy creatures, stay alert for other hazards, like falling debris and a massive drill.
  • If you topple the Colossus before the event timer expires, you will be rewarded with some loot, XP, Caps, Treasury Notes, and a chance at new themed items for your C.A.M.P.
    • Don’t linger too long, because Monongah Mine will surely collapse after your lengthy battle. Find a way out of the Mine in time, and you will escape with your life.

Meat Week Returns!

The Meat Week Seasonal Event is returning to Appalachia this month from August 18 – 24. If you haven’t taken part in the past, Meat Week offers great opportunities to earn some Legendary Scrip, claim some loot, and join the community (along with Grahm, everyone’s favorite Super Mutant) for a delicious Meat Cook. Meat Week happens in two parts, and you can read below to learn the basics:

Primal Cuts
  • Grahm only wants to provide top notch fare during his Meat Cook. Join Primal Cuts events in different regions of Appalachia to take down Prime Beasts and gather some Prime Meat.
  • Primal Cuts events begin every 15 minutes in three regions of Appalachia at once.
    • Each features a different difficulty so that low, mid, and high-level characters can all participate.
  • Kill the waves of Prime Beasts before the Primal Cuts timer expires and you will receive a few cuts of Prime Meat as a reward.
    • Be sure to turn in your Prime Meat during Grahm’s Meat Cook events to claim some Legendary Scrip.
Grahm’s Meat Cook
  • To celebrate Meat Week, Grahm is hosting a Meat Cook for all his favorite humans every hour on the hour near Vault 76 in the Forest.
    • Help Grahm complete a variety of activities, like putting out fires, playing music, spinning meat spits, cleaning up after Chally, and more to help ensure his party is a hit.
  • The more successful the Meat Cook, the higher your chances at better rewards from the event.
    • We’ve also added a few new rewards this year, like plans to craft your own Tenderizer, a new Outfit, and more!

Design Updates

  • Ammo Converter: Following community feedback, we’ve made several improvements to the Ammo Converter.
    • We’ve added options to buy and sell 10x and 100x the normal amounts of ammo so that you can exchange larger stacks more quickly.
    • Buying and selling has been incorporated directly into the terminal page for each ammo type, which means fewer screens to click through when exchanging your ammo.
    • We’ve upped the maximum amount of AmmoPoints you can store from 2,000 to 100,000.
  • Legendary Loot: Daily Quests and Events have had their legendary loot rewards updated to include additional items, like The Fixer, Secret Service Armor, and others, so long as you’ve learned the Plans for them.

Quests and Events

  • An Ounce of Prevention: We’ve simplified the “Collect Blood Samples: 0/3” to only require a single Blood Sample from a Feral Ghoul.
    • This quest step frequently caused some confusion for new players and had a bug that could sometimes block progression. This change should make An Ounce of Prevention a smoother experience for everyone.
  • Signal Strength: At the National Isolated Radio Array, we’ve removed the wave of difficult robot enemies that spawn and reduced the overall difficulty of enemies in the area.
    • Signal Strength could be difficult for new characters due high-level enemies at the Radio Array. We’ve dropped the difficulty so that this part of the quest is easier to complete for lower level characters.

Bug Fixes

General
  • Please note: With today’s update, we’ve found that the Forager Ally is not currently providing Daily Quests to players who have this Ally in their C.A.M.P.s. We did not have enough time to address this prior to releasing the patch, and we are working to address this issue as soon as possible.
Art and Animation
  • Animations: Fixed multiple animation issues affecting the Screaming Eagle skin for the Handmade Rifle.
  • Animations: The Clean Sweep Photomode Pose no longer causes the character’s shoulder to stretch backwards unnaturally.
  • Art: Made adjustments to Backpacks so that they no longer appear to sink into characters’ backs while equipped.
  • Art: Adjusted the front sight on the Appalachian Thunder Pipe skin for the Gatling Gun so that it’s more in-line with the crosshairs when aiming down the sights in first-person view.
  • Art: Adjusted the Extra Large Magazine Mod for the Appalachian Thunder Pipe Skin to limit the amount that it obstructs the view when aiming down the sights in first-person.
  • Art: In the Wastelander Photomode Frame, Vault Boy now has a rifle over his shoulder instead of a Laser Musket.
C.A.M.P. and Workshops
  • Ammo Converter: Now correctly disappears when destroyed in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. until the player repairs it.
  • Backwoods Bungalow: Players can no longer walk through the Bungalow’s glass walls.
  • Build: When attempting to build a freestanding object, it will no longer flicker rapidly between two snap locations.
  • Build: The preview for the Framed Captain Cosmos Gameboard now correctly faces the player when attempting to build it.
  • Chicken Coop: Sound effects no longer continue to play after the Chicken Coop is destroyed.
  • Collectron Station: The Fasnacht Collectron now correctly disappears after scrapping or storing its Station.
  • Exploit: Addressed an exploit allowing players to stack multiple traps.
  • Exploit: Fixed an exploit related to scrapping Assaultron Helmets.
  • Fireplace Secret Door: No longer leaves behind visual effects when destroyed.
  • Foundations: Fixed an issue where foundation pieces could be built in invalid circumstances.
  • Lights: Objects with lights now correctly light up immediately after being repaired.
  • Rustic Watermill: The generator version of the Rustic Watermill now correctly requires the player to know the Medium Generator Recipe before it can be built.
  • Scrapping: Fixed an issue that caused crafting to use Junk items from the player’s Inventory and Stash before using their available Scrap. Crafting, building, and repairing now utilize the player’s Scrap and Junk in the following order of priority:
    • Scrap in the player’s Inventory
    • Scrap in the Stash
    • Scrap in the Fallout 1st Scrapbox
    • Junk in the player’s Inventory will be auto-scrapped
    • Junk in the Stash will be auto-scrapped
  • Walls: Fixed an issue where doorway walls could be hard to place under roofs and upper floors.
  • Walls: Fixed and issue where slanted walls could not be snapped to roofs.
  • Walls: Fixed an issue that could allow walls to be snapped to overhanging roofs and upper floors, which could be used to create floating walls.
Challenges
  • General: Implemented an additional fix to address remaining edge cases where Daily and Weekly Challenges could complete themselves automatically.
  • Nuclear Winter: Fixed an issue in which previous limited-time Nuclear Winter Challenges were available and could be still completed past their end-dates.
Combat
  • Exploit: Fixed an exploit resulting from reviving another player under certain circumstances.
  • Exploit: Fixed an exploit allowing Bows to fire much faster than intended.
Enemies
  • Wendigo Colossus: Opening the Pip-Boy just before being Feared by the Wendigo Colossus no longer causes the controls to temporarily lock up.
Items
  • Backpacks: Fixed an issue that prevented players from scrapping newly crafted Backpacks.
  • Bows: The Blood Eagle Bow skin can now also be applied to Compound Bows.
  • Chinese Stealth Suit: The Helmet for the Chinese Stealth Suit no longer incorrectly states that it protects against waterborne diseases.
  • Energy Weapons: Addressed an issue that could prevent energy weapons, like the Tesla Rifle and Flamer, from damaging enemies under certain circumstances.
  • Jetpacks: Fixed an issue allowing an Atomic Shop Power Armor Jet Pack skin to be applied by players who did not own it.
  • Jetpacks: The Captain Cosmos Jetpack now correctly appears in the list of mods for T-65 Power Armor.
  • Lunchboxes: Using more than 4 Lunchboxes now correctly refreshes the duration of the 100% XP buff.
  • Power Armor: The T-65 Power Armor Headlamp no longer shines in the wrong direction after switching between first- and third-person view.
  • Secret Service Armor: Added plans to craft Pocketed and Deep Pocketed mods for Secret Service Armor limbs. They can be purchased for 250 and 500 Gold Bullion respectively from Regs in Vault 79.
  • Secret Service Armor: The Ghillie Suit skin no longer obstructs the player’s view in first-person.
  • Mods: Fixed an issue where the Bow, Assault Rifle, and Brotherhood Recon Rifle did not have “Default Appearance” equipped on pickup.
  • Vault-Tec Supply Packages: Now correctly have a weight of 0.1 pounds.
Mutations
  • Herbivore & Carnivore: Fixed a number of food benefits that were not being doubled correctly by the Herbivore and Carnivore Mutations.
NPCs
  • General: Fixed rare case where NPCs could pick up items a player had dropped in a loot bag.
  • Pathing: Fixed pathing issues affecting multiple NPCs in Foundation.
  • Scavenger Traders: Will no longer be repeatedly downed due to radiation damage when near an active Nuke Zone.
  • Smiley: Smiley now resets correctly every Monday, allowing players to purchase Bullion from him every week.
    • If you are inside the Wayward when Smiley resets, you must exit and re-enter the Wayward for his stock of Bullion to “update.”
  • Ward: We’ve instructed Ward to stay put in his trailer, so you should no longer spot him roaming Foundation.
Performance and Stability
  • Performance: Fixed an issue that could cause client performance issues when attempting to stack many C.A.M.P. objects in a small space.
  • Client Stability: Attempting to replace a Fence in Modify mode no longer sometimes crashes the game client.
  • Server Stability: Addressed an issue that could result in a server crash when loading an exterior cell.
  • Server Stability: Fixed an issue that could cause a server crash when loading a Workshop.
  • Server Stability: Fixed a server crash related to pathing.
  • Server Stability: Addressed a server crash related to equipped inventory items.
  • Server Stability: Addressed multiple issues that could result in a server crash during Nuclear Winter matches.
Perks
  • Adrenaline: Now applies its damage bonuses correctly after enemy kills.
  • Robotics Expert: No longer prevents players from trading with Vendor bots.
Quests and Events
  • Ally: Crash Landing: Logging out and back in after retrieving the Flight Recorder Data no longer prevents the quest from progressing.
  • Ally: Thicker than Water: Logging out during Beckett’s final quest no longer creates a duplicate Watoga Underground Key.
  • Daily: Heart of the Enemy: Can no longer be repeated immediately after completion.
  • Strange Bedfellows: The “Complete Signal Strength” objective’s description is no longer cut off in the Pip-Boy.
  • Vital Equipment: Fixed an issue that could prevent Vital Equipment from progressing if the player killed the Raider Thief before talking to Ward.
User Interface
  • Loading Screens: The S.C.O.R.E. meter and rank-up reward fanfares no longer remain visible during loading screens.
  • Localization: The Legendary Run gameboard’s rules sheet is now correctly translated in non-English versions of the game.
  • Main Menu: On PC, pressing TAB after opening the Main Menu from the Map now correctly returns the player to the Map view.
  • Main Menu: Pressing “Play” before the Main Menu finishes loading no longer places the player directly into Adventure Mode or displays a “Failed to find your selected character” error message.

  • Social: Fixed an issue that could cause the friends list to appear blank after removing a friend.
  • Teams: Addressed an issue causing teams to automatically disband after a Nuclear Winter match.
  • The Legendary Run: Selecting Rank 100 on the game board now correctly displays preview images for all of rewards in The Legendary Run Bundle.
World
  • Cranberry Bog: Fixed a location near the Ranger District Office where the player could sink below the terrain.
  • Nuke Silos: Fixed a location in the Reactor Room where players could get out of world and skip portions of the Nuke Silo.
  • Pathing: Fixed multiple locations in the world where players could become stuck in or near clutter and other objects.

UFC 4 Fighter Ratings From 40-21 Revealed

While we posted about the intial UFC 4 fighter ratings for the first batch (50-41), we now have the list for the rest in one go! This is from 40-21, since we’re expecting EA to reveal the top 20 or top 10 in a much grander fashion.

Without further ado, check out the list below.

Once we get to the top 20, we’ll let our readers know. Don’t forget to check out the new Career Mode shown off in a new video. Speaking of fighter ratings, EA has announced that former champ Daniel Cormier would be the one to tinker with fighter ratings after every major event!

Here are some of the gameplay improvements players can expect from this new UFC fighting game:

GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS

Fluid Clinch Control

UFC 4 introduces Real Player Motion Technology (RPM Tech) into the art of the ‘clinch’, creating a fluid experience driven by positioning and physical context.

Takedown Overhaul

UFC 4 introduces RPM Tech into takedown gameplay as well. With a multitude of new takedown animations, players will feel a larger spectrum of outcomes, driven by user control and fighter attributes.

Devastating Ground and Pound

With the ground and pound overhaul, UFC 4 puts you in more control of postured-up scenarios, giving the striker more tools to aim and pick their spots and the defender access to more tools, like head movement and well-timed counter transitions.

UFC 4 is grappling its way out this August 14 on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Halo MCC Crossplay Coming This Year

Are you playing Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Halo MCC) on Xbox One or PC and want to play against the other platform? You’ll be able to later this year, as 343 Industries has confirmed Halo MCC crossplay is coming in 2020!

This was announced by the studio in the latest Halo Waypoint post, where a list of features planned for this year were revealed:

Unfortunately, no release window was given, though we’re expecting it in one of the major updates to the game.

In other Halo multiplayer news, 343 Industries is hopeful for a beta for Halo Infinite, though can’t say for certain whether we’ll get one before release. Speaking of which, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has been confirmed to be free-to-play, and will run at 120fps.

Fall Guys Crossover Skins With Other IPs Planned, Devs Would Love PlayStation Skins

Developers Mediatonic has confirmed that players can expect to see some Fall Guys crossovers skins of other IPs to appear in Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout.

Taking part in a recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything,) game’s Lead Game Designer, Joe Walsh and another designer confirmed that players on PS4 can expect to see character skins belonging to other IPs on with one dropping in a matter of weeks.

You’ll spot a few costumes in game which you might recognise! 😉

As for which franchise these skins belong to? We’ll thats anyone’s guess, although the lead designer did comment on about the possibilities of seeing other PlayStation icons appear in the game. From the response it seems as if this will likely be a no, at least in the capacity the user was wanting it in. They did at least say that they would love to see PlayStation skins offered to that degree

I can say that we do have some awesome IP costumes that will appear in the store over the next few weeks though, so keep your eyes peeled

Not surprising considering that the PC edition will have some crossover skins with Valve’s Half-Life series. Pre-ordering the title on PC will grant users an exclusive Gordan Freeman skin.

Modern Warfare Season 5 Preload Now Live on PS4, 36GB Download but 120GB Is Required

With Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare promising to be a hefty download, though one that will make reduce the overall file size once installed, Infinity Ward has now enabled the Modern Warfare Season 5 preload on PS4!

Note that this Modern Warfare Season 5 preload isn’t available on Xbox One, and PC, and it seems it’s being handled in waves by Activision, so don’t be surprised if you can’t download it yet. According to Activision, “All PlayStation 4 players will be randomly separate into two groups to pre-download.” You also won’t be to install it right away, it seems (per our screenshot):

How does it work?

All PlayStation 4 players will be randomly separated into two groups to pre-download.

The first group will be able to begin pre-downloading on Sunday, August 2nd, 48 hours before the update goes live.

The second group will be able to begin pre-downloading on Monday, August 3rd, 24 hours before the update goes live.

If you have Automatic Downloads enabled on your PlayStation 4, your pre-download will begin automatically as long as your PlayStation 4 is turned on or in Rest Mode. Please note: Automatic Downloads is only available with PlayStation Plus.

If you have Automatic Downloads disabled, or your PlayStation 4 was turned off, follow these steps to manually initiate the pre-download:

  1. Highlight the Modern Warfare or Warzone tile on the PlayStation 4 homescreen.
  2. Press the Options button.
  3. Select Check for Updates.

For those curious or annoyed at why this isn’t available on Xbox One, Activision notes that Xbox does not support the ability to pre-download, and this is the case for Battle.net as well for Modern Warfare and Warzone.

While the actual downloadable file is only 36GB, players will need more than that in order to download the file. According to Activision, you will need approximately 120GB of free space for the pre-download.

 How much hard drive space will I need to pre-download the update?

To pre-download the update, your PlayStation 4 will need to store the previous update from June and have space for the August update. Approximately 120 GB of free space will be required for the pre-download.

Whatever the case is, make sure you have enough disk space for this, since it’s a big one.

Marvel’s Avengers Getting Spider-Man but Only on PlayStation

Remember the rumor we ran over the weekend regarding Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man being in the game but exclusive to PlayStation platforms? Well, as it turns out, it is indeed happening!

Announced by Jeff Adams, Crystal Dynamics Associate Art Directo via the PlayStation Blog, the studio announced that Spider-Man will have his own unique skill tree to level up, and with Spidey joining the Avengers, his gadgets will be getting a boost from Hank Pym, SHIELD, Stark Industries, and more.

As for Spidey’s looks in Marvel’s Avengers, it’ll be influenced by the original design more than anything else.

 

Of course, there will be alternate outfits for webhead to suit up in as well. Spider-Man will debut via an in-game event which was further detailed by Crystal Dynamics.

A Sensational Celebration

When Spider-Man comes to our stable of heroes, we’ll be marking his debut with an in-game event that will introduce him to the wider world of Marvel’s Avengers.  The event is comprised of a series of unique challenges for the hero to take on, testing his abilities, and yielding some exciting results.  And like the rest of our heroes in Marvel’s Avengers, we will offer multiple cosmetic outfits and gameplay experience options, so you can make your vision of the wall crawler a reality.  

Spidey will join the Marvel’s Avengers roster at no additional cost in “early 2021” on PlayStation platforms (PS4, PS5).

Shocked by this announcement? Personally, I’m not given Sony has the film rights to Spider-Man, and the compay does have a marketing deal with Square Enix regarding the game.

Marvel’s Avengers will fly out this September 4 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC, and the beta will be available next week for PlayStation gamers.

Modern Warfare Season 5 Gameplay Trailer Released to Hype People for August 5

Ready for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone’s Season 5? Ready or not, Shadow Company is coming! Today, Infinity Ward has released the Modern Warfare Season 5 gameplay trailer and it gives us a look at the new Operators coming into the game and more!

Verdansk will never be the same.

The stadium opens. The train arrives. And the battle expands. Season Five kicks off in #Warzone and #ModernWarfare on August 5.

In addition to that, we can see a new train is in Warzone! Infinity Ward is even teasing “new places to play” in Verdansk, and how they’ll be “blowing the roof off!” Of course, if you were keeping tabs of the teases, you know something big is happening to Warzone, and it could very well be tied to this year’s Call of Duty reveal.

In other Season 5 news, the new weapons set to come this August 5 has apparently been leaked, and it’s a new SMG and assault rifle!

Rainbow Six Siege MUTE Protocol Event Starts Tomorrow

Following today’s Rainbow Six Siege patch on consoles that brings gameplay changes, Ubisoft has announced the Rainbow Six Siege MUTE Protocol limited time event, and it starts tomorrow.

This is officially called the M.U.T.E. Protocol, but for the sake of sanity (and easier typing), we’ll call this MUTE. This event brings a fresh take on the Secure Area game mode, and will last for two weeks from August 4 up to August 17.

Rainbow Six Siege MUTE Protocol Secure Area:

In this futuristic sci-fi inspired 5-vs.-5 mode, attackers are flying in and trying to shutdown M.U.T.E Protocol by any means necessary, while defenders hold up in Comm Tower, defending it at all cost. 41 Operators will be available to play, with a few exceptions for gameplay reasons: Twitch, Thatcher, Mozzie, Mute, Maestro, Valkyrie, Dokkaebi, Echo, Goyo, Clash, Montagne, Blitz and Caveira won’t be available.

Even for players who are used to playing Secure Area, M.U.T.E. Protocol’s new game mode is unique, as it is based on a brand-new feature: Morphing. On the attacking side, players will have to secure two areas, and will be able to switch between Operator and Drone forms by entering and exiting Observation Tools. On the defending side, Operators will be able to use bulletproof cameras to travel digitally through the network.

Players will be glad to know that the MUTE Protocol will bring its own Collection of items, featuring exclusive customizations for Jackal, Lion, Ying, Kapkan, Mira, Mute, Oryx and Vigil. There are 26 total items players can nab in total which range from signature items, weapon skins and more.

Players can earn MUTE Protocol packs through a special Event Challenge, purchase packs for 300 R6 Credits or 12500 Renown each.

Blightbound Early Access Impressions – What We Learned Fighting the Blight

Blightbound is an online and local multiplayer hack and slash dungeon crawler created by Ronimo Games (Awesomenauts) and published by Devolver Digital (Fall Guys, GRIS)  which just released as an early access game on Steam on July 29. Before that, we managed to get our grubby little mitts on the game to see how it played. 

Blightbound is a nice stew of gameplay elements from Torchlight and Diablo, with the dark dreary tone of Darkest Dungeon seeping through the artstyle, so if any of those titles sound familiar or tickle a particular fancy of yours, then you are sure to find something to like about this game.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

In Blightbound, three heroes travel out into the desolated world to fight back the abominations unleashed by the all-consuming and all-corrupting blight. If you had a Mage, a Warrior and an Assassin on your bingo card, then you can mark that down as a victory for you, because those are the classic RPG classes you get to choose from. Each has a role to fill; block damage as a warrior, interrupt enemies as an assassin or heal your allies as a mage.

Homesteading

The Refuge is your humble home when not out smiting what needs to be smitten. You will earn coins to level up the Refuge and make it a bit more accommodating, building markets to sell found trinkets, blacksmiths to upgrade weaponry and so forth.

Aforementioned trinkets can also be used to give your heroes a buff. You can also unlock new heroes with new special moves by encountering them in the levels themselves before bringing them back home to the Refuge. You will need all the help you can get, because the levels themselves change difficulty and get harder after every successful mission. This game gets downright unforgiving at times!

A Not So Pretty Picture

The art style of the game is very reminiscent of other games in the genre that deal with Lovecraftian horrors with way too many appendages and eyes where they shouldn’t be. In our playthrough of the available levels in the beta, we managed to battle tentacled witches, centaurs and other hellish creatures. The characters themselves are 2D, but the environment and attacks add a 3D flair to them, with some pretty cool effects.

We had fun dipping our toes in the twisted world of Blightbound and if a Lovecraftian RPG with fantasy elements sounds right up your alley, we reckon you will, too.

Sony Outlines Official PS4 Peripherals on PS5 That Can Be Used

Curious what PS4 peripherals you’ll be able to use on the PS5 once it launches? While there’s no complete list of this just yet, Sony has outlined the PS4 peripherals on PS5 that can be used for official Sony products.

Which existing PS4 peripherals/accessories will work on PS5?

  • Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.
  • The Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5).
  • The DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games. 
  • Both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.

Please note, not all PlayStation officially licensed or third-party peripherals/accessories may work on PS5. We recommend checking with the manufacturer to confirm whether a product will work on PS5 and specific titles. 

As for the controller itself, the DualShock 4 won’t work with PS5 games, which is understandable given the PS5 DualSense has controller capabilities that the DualShock 4 doesn’t have.

For te PlayStation Camera though, it’s all good. Sony confirms that for the PSVR.

Is the PlayStation Camera for PS4 compatible with PS5?

Yes, PlayStation Camera will work with PS5 for playing supported PS VR games. It will require a PlayStation Camera adaptor that will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users. More details on how to get the adaptor will be announced at a later date

Publisher Devolver Digital shared that that this “11-minute epic delves into the creative process behind our favorite little Fall Guys, from the original pitch and classic game show inspirations to character designs and why the key to perfect floppiness is a partially networked ragdoll.”

Fall Guys is out tomorrow on PC and will be free for members of PlayStation Plus. Speaking of which, Mediatonic has explained why the game is releasing on PS Plus first, and even said that there’s a Trophy in the game that’s “insanely hard” to obtain.

GRIDLOCK

If you’ve ever stepped on a Lego…this hurts worse.

By making her gadget a bit more enjoyable to use, we’re looking to make Gridlock players’ lives a bit easier.

  • Lowered Gridlock’s Caltrop deployment time to 9s (down from 13s).
  • Lowered the individual Caltrops deployment time to 0.45s (down from 0.7s).
  • Lowered the range of random deploy variation to 0.05s (down from 0.1s).
  • Added a delay of 0.45s before the deployment sequence starts (previously no delay).

ORYX

The Rainbow 🐐 has goat to dash.

We want to let Oryx make more use of his dash, and added mobility and durability will hopefully make him a bit more fun to play.

  • Using his dash through a soft wall will not deplete all the dash charges.
  • Increased Dash refresh time to 12s (up from 8s).
  • Dash recovery time for all dashes is now 0.5s. (Previous recovery times: soft wall = 1s, enemy = 0.7s).

FUZE

Hide the hostages!

Giving Fuze a bit more presence and utility with an additional charge.

  • Increased the number of cluster charges to 4 (up from 3)

GAMEPLAY

PUSHBACK MECHANICS

To maintain consistency with softwall interactions, we’re giving enemies that are pushed through walls the same feedback as when Oryx dashes through them.

  • When pushed through a wall by Nomad’s airjabs or Oryx’s dash, players will receive the same feedback and rtake the same damage (5 hp) as when Oryx dashes through a soft wall.

BUG FIXES

  • FIXED – Missing anchoring decals from Ace’s SELMA.
  • FIXED – Ace’s SELMA can get stuck when thrown in a certain way at some beams, becoming unrecoverable.
  • FIXED – While grappling through a window or hatch, Amaru can aim faster with her LMG if she times her sprint and ADS buttons just prior to landing.
  • FIXED – IQ’s gadget will not display the outline and distance of Melusi’s Banshees.
  • FIXED – Zofia’s concussion grenades are impacted by external explosions and can bounce away from the target location.
  • FIXED – Flattening the doorframes and windows on all maps.
  • FIXED – Floating and indestructible wooden squares after destroying some walls on Yacht.
  • FIXED – Gunshot sounds are muffled when shooting from inside 1F Technical Seating of Plane.

Next State of Play Announced by Sony for This Thursday

Excited to hear more about the PS5? Well, we don’t have to wait long as the next State of Play is happening this Thursday, August 6! Unfortunately though, Sony has confirmed that there will be “no big PS5 announcements,” which means we can rule out knowing the price and release date of the next-gen console.

Here’s what Sony tweeted just now:

Sony says the episode will be around 40+ minutes, and there’s plenty of gameplay footage and other game updates. Regarding the show, Sony says the focus is “squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem.” So no pre-order dates, hardware reveals or other stuff are coming.

The next State of Play airs Thursday, August 6 at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET/9 p.m/ BST/4 a.m. HKT. Same as always, people can watch it on YouTube or Twitch, or here on MP1st as we’ll be sure to post a livestream link up once it’s live.

What are you hoping to see in the upcoming State of Play episode? Personally, I want to see or hear more about how PSVR will work or whether we can expect a new upgrade for it that’s less cumbersome in terms of connections (wires).

Elite Dangerous Update 1.48 August 3 Flies Out

Frontier Developments has released a new patch for Elite Dangerous and it addresses quite a number of known issues. The Elite Dangerous update 1.48 August 3 patch is now live and you can read the complete patch notes below.

Mining

  • Fixed an issue whereby surface deposits created after cracking a motherlode would flag themselves as depleted
  • Fixed issues related to diminishing returns for commodities in overlapping hotspots

Crashes and Stability

  • Fixed an issue where loading into an instance in a system with a large amount of Fleet Carriers would cause very long load times (potentially long enough to cause a disconnect)

Fleet Carriers

  • Fixed an issue which stopped Fighters being restocked from a Fleet Carrier
  • Fixed a number of issues related to Fleet Carrier positioning:
    • Better enforcement of the 16 carrier limit per body
    • Preventing departing Fleet Carriers from taking up one of the 16 slots from the body they’ve just left
    • Further work to ensure Carriers are positioned away from other nearby body sites, such as other Fleet Carriers

  • When opening the Fleet Carrier naming pop up in the Livery, an additional unwanted character will be added to the start and end of the name. These characters will need to be manually deleted to prevent them being included.

Please note that the above notes are liable to change as adjustments are made and changes are added or removed. Tweaks may be made up until the time of launch.

Infinity Ward Says It’s a “Priority” to Reduce Size of Modern Warfare, Says Season 5 Will Shrink Overall Size

If you’re a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player, you’ve no doubt noticed that the game eats up a ton of disk space regardless of the platform you play on. And with Season 5 set to roll out in the next few days, some might be worried that it’ll take a ton more space.

Well, there’s some good news, and bad news. Production Directot at Infinity Ward Paul Haile confirmed that the Modern Warfare Season 5 download file would be big, but that it will shrink the overall file size.

In addition to that, Haile states that reducing the file size for Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone is a “priority” for the studio. Check out the full statement  from Haile below, in an easier to read format (compiled tweets).

hey all – season 5 is coming soon, and its big. with the update we’re including all the new content for the season as well as optimizing our asset packs.

this means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we’re adding a bunch of new content for the season.

its a priority for us to keep working on reducing the overall size of MW & WZ on your hard drives, but at the same time also delivering new seasons for everyone to enjoy. we’ll continue to work on this and keep pushing space reductions out with future updates.

This is definitely good news, as a single game shouldn’t eat up 200GB of a harddisk.
