Gasmoxia Grand Prix details:
NEW TRACK: Are you ready for Oxide’s final challenge, the most technical track ever assembled in Crash Team Racing? Then prepare to take on Drive-Thru Danger! Not for the faint of heart, this track exists high above the skyline on Oxide’s home planet Gasmoxia and pits racers in the middle of a fast-food war between the planet’s two biggest conglomerates – Nuclear Pizza and Toxic Burger. Existing at the fringes of space, it’s filled with twists, turns and risky shortcuts for the bold. The ever-present gaze of Gasmoxia’s corporate giants hangs over the heads of all racers as they strive to beat the track (and each other) and escape this toxic dystopia!
NEW CHARACTER: As if Oxide’s presence wasn’t enough, he’s enlisted help from the Galaxy’s self-proclaimed ruler, Emperor Velo! Unlock this devious new character in the Nitro Gauge.
NEW TIME TRIALS: Velo isn’t just making an appearance this season, he’s providing a whole new challenge in Time Trials! See how fast you really are by beating Velo’s insanely fast times on each of Nitro-Fueled’s courses.
NEW KARTS: Your intergalactic ride awaits! Unlock three hovering new karts this season: the Void Manta, the Velo Chopper and the retro-vibing Galactic Cruiser.
PIT STOP ITEMS: When in Gasmoxia, do as the Gasmoxians do! Look like a local with a wide array of new Pit Stop items to swag out your racer and kart in the space-adventuring theme of the planet.
CHAMPION KART AND DECAL: Finish in the top 5% of the Grand Prix leaderboards and win the Champion Kart and Gasmoxia signature decal!
Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. We’ll also post any changes to the gameplay if the new patch includes any.

Fan Recreates Modern Warfare Shipment Map in Far Cry 5

Believe it or not, it’s perfectly fine for gamers to be fan of more than one franchise contrary to what fanboys lead people to believe — especially when it comes to shooters. Regardless if you’re a fan of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Shipment map and the chaos it brings, what a user manages to do is impressive all the same.

Reddit user dunscmaps recreated the Modern Warfare Shipment map in Far Cry 5! If you’re curious how he does it, watch the video below for a quick step-by-step guide.

Here’s a look at it:

This is definitely a nice move from a fan, no? If you’re curious how actual developers would fare, we posted a story on how a Halo level designer created his own Gunfight (2v2) map and there’s footage!

If you have any fan-created levels, and such for Modern Warfare, don’t hesitate to reach out to MP1st and we just might feature your creation.

In other Call of Duty: Modern Warfare news, make sure to read up on the Call of Duty: Warzone leaks! We’ve included some must-read articles below.

NeatherRealm Wanted to Develop a Star Wars Game Before Mortal Kombat Success

It’s hard to imagine a world without Mortal Kombat around as the series has nearly existed for three full decades, spanning across many successful (and not) titles in that time. Back then, Mortal Kombat was developed by Midway Games, until Warner Bros. Interactive bought the IP back in 2009.

But even then, it was that game that your parents didn’t want you to play as a child due to the sheer amount of violence. Things quickly picked up for the series as it made countless news headlines, criticizing the title for it’s brutally gory violence. Yet despite all the negativity, it still managed to be a huge success that even the developers themselves couldn’t believe. In fact, the original plans from the Mortal Kombat founders never included a sequel, but instead had them setting their sites on a much bigger franchise at the time.

John Tobias, a name Mortal Kombat fans probably haven’t heard much from since his departure from the studio in the late ’90s, recently took part in the latest episode of Mortal PodKast to discuss some of series history and how the team never expected a sequel to happen.

“I remember having a loose idea of where the story would go if there would be a sequel. We didn’t think that there would be a sequel. In fact, when we finished the first game Ed and I thought “Oh what do we want to do next?” And we really wanted to do a Star Wars game, we were pushing our management to let us do a Star Wars product. But of course, the game hit big and they wanted us to do a sequel”

A surprising turn of events it would have been if Mortal Kombat had never reached the success it had back then, though even then, the series co-founder seemed to have had Star Wars on his mind during the development of the first Mortal Kombat game.

One thing that I thought, specifically with Mortal Kombat. We spoke about Shang Tsung having an emperor in the first game. We mentioned these things without getting into any details and the strength of doing that is we insinuate plots. Players read that stuff and in their mind they start to formulate “wow there’s this other thing here that exist that we don’t know anything about”

I remember being conscious of this on the first and second game, was when I saw Star Wars when I was a kid, they alluded to an emperor and empire, all this stuff that they really didn’t get into the weeds with. It wasn’t until Empire Strike Back that you really learn that there really is an Emperor. As that stuff was revealed to me as a kid, it was mind blowing. So I remember being consious between the first and second Mortal Kombat of wanting players to have that sense of “oh there’s a bigger world” that has been alluded to and give them the sense that this is larger than we thought.

If you haven’t  already, we highly recommend you give the podcast a listen, as the rest dives deeper into the lore of the franchise. Some really cool and interested pieces of information that I personally never knew about the series.

In other Mortal Kombat news, a new patch for Mortal Kombat 11 was released yesterday, which you can read about here.

Marvel’s Avengers GameStop Exclusive Is the “Outback Hulk” and Includes an Action Figure

Just a few days ago, we got the official details on some of different editions for Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. Well, today, it seems there’s another one to add to that list, and that’s with the Marvel’s Avengers GameStop pre-order exclusive!

Priced at $90, the Marvel’s Avengers GameStop exclusive not only includes the game but even a limited edition six-inch “Outback Hulk” action figure made by Hasbro.

Aside from the action figure, there’s also an alternate Outback Hulk skin players will be able to equip in the game as part of the pre-order retailer exclusive.

Will we get more retailer-specific editions? I wouldn’t rule it out since there are more Avengers out there to tie the game with.

Speaking of the Hulk, don’t forget to check out the character profile video released by Crystal Dynamics. We also reported on how Thor has a new look among other things that the studio seems to be doing currently when it comes to character designs.

What do you make of this so far? Is pricing it at $90 fair? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments below.

Infinity Ward References “Toxic Event” in new Modern Warfare Cosmetic Items

While Activision nor Infinity Ward has spoken up about the long-rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale mode (apparently called Call of Duty: Warzone), it seems that hasn’t stopped the studio from teasing players with it via the game’s in-store.

Available now in the in-game store for Modern Warfare is the “Hazardous” bundle, which includes four items. There are two Blueprints available in the bundle, along with a gun charm and a new Emblem that should raise a few eyebrows.

As you can see, the Emblem is called “Toxic Event” while showing a gas surrounding a field, which has been referenced in the new Season 2 intro video. As hinted at by the Season 2 intro, the gas field is what the Modern Warfare battle royale circle of death is called.

This is the first time Infinity Ward has directly hinted at anything related to battle royale, which leads me to believe an announcement is forthcoming very, very soon. The latest rumor that surfaced yesterday is that the mode is set for release in early March.

We’ll keep an eye out for more battle royale teasers or hints! If you spot any, feel free to email us and we’ll credit you for the find.

Street Fighter 5 Update 3.02 Released, Here’s What It’s For

While we got the big Champion Edition update for Street Fighter 5 last week, Capcom has released a new Street Fighter 5 update today. Players will see this as Street Fighter 5 update 3.02, and it’s only at 163MB.

While no official patch notes have been released, based on Street Fighter Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono’s tweet a few days ago, it’s to the netcode issue that’s been plaguing players for a long time.

We hope everyone is excited for the release of Seth and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition this Friday! The team is working hard and wants to let #SFV players know that we’ll be making adjustments to the game’s netcode soon. We’ll share more details later. Thanks for the support!

Players connecting will see that servers are down for maintenance, though it’s expected to run for an hour :

About the maintenance end time [12:00] → [13:00] will be corrected. I’m very sorry.

Hopefully, any netcode issues on PS4 and PC will be resolved by this patch. If there are any gameplay changes, we’ll update the post, though we’re not expecting any.

If you find any gameplay-related changes, feel free to email us or leave a  comment below, and we’ll update the post to reflect that.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Void Edge Patch Notes Revealed

With Ubisoft Montreal already giving us a look at the two new Operators headed to the game in Rainbow Six Siege Operation Void Edge (Year 5), the studio has done more than that today, and that’s with the Rainbow Six Siege Operation Void Edge patch notes!

Note that Ubisoft Montreal has not mentioned whether this is the complete list of changes and whatnot, but given the extensive list we have below, this houses the ones that affect gameplay the most and more.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Void Edge patch notes:

MAP REWORK: OREGON

The map reworks keep coming, and with Operation Void Edge, Oregon gets its turn. With this one, big changes come in small packages, so you’ll have no trouble recognizing the map while you adapt to the balancing.

With an updated look, most areas are more open and structured, but there are also new points of access and rotation. Big Tower now also connects directly to Kitchen on the first floor thanks to the Kitchen Corridor, and a new area in the basement called Freezer leads to the first floor with the Freezer Stairs.

Other access point changes include the removal of the door between Kitchen and Bathroom Corridor (now called Security Corridor), as well as the one leading into Dining Hall from the outside, which is replaced by a connection between Dining Hall and Small Tower. Attic has also changed, opening into Dorm Main Hall with a doorway, but losing its ladder down to Meeting Hall.

All of this serves to make rotations easier and safer for both Attackers and Defenders. Stay alert though, as many more breakable walls have been introduced all over the map.

There are a few more things to take note of when learning the ins and outs of this new iteration, but most notably: the Tower bomb site has been replaced with the new Meeting Hall and Kitchen alternative.

Check out all these changes and more on the test server, and feel free to submit your feedback on R6 Fix.

BARRICADE DEBRIS CONSISTENCY

One of the more impactful changes to note this season is how we approached the behavior of barricade debris. Previously, when partially breaking barricades, there would be a piece of debris that could get stuck in the remainder of the barricade and since this is done client-side, it could put a player at a significant advantage toward their opponent, due to a line of sight being blocked for one player but not for the other.

To avoid this situation and the frustration that comes with it, partially breaking a barricade with a weapon or a melee hit will now create much smaller debris. Additionally, when completely destroying a barricade, the behavior of the debris is improved to minimize occlusion caused by stacked debris on the top of a window sill and the base of a door frame.

ATTACKERS’ DRONE SPAWN

Attackers drone spawn is not random anymore. When playing on attack, your drone will now always spawn on the same side of the building as the one you first chose your operator to spawn from. We expect this change to simplify orientation for new players and to give more control on droning to veterans and organized teams. You can still change your operator spawn point afterwards, based on the intel you gathered during the prep phase.

PLAYER HUB CHANGES

On the menu side of things, the Play Section is getting revamped. The new, reorganized look is meant to makes things easier for you when choosing a Playlist to queue, and the new Playlist Guides will help you understand what every one of them entails.

LESION AND TWITCH CHANGES

Lesion was in need of some balancing, and with Operation Void Edge he gets just that. He will no longer be able to see his GU Mines through obstructions of any kind, or from a certain distance. Most importantly, though, when an opposing Operator steps on a GU, there will no longer be any initial damage, giving them time to take it out before it becomes a problem. However, we have increased each tick’s damage from 4 to 6. Finally, downed operators will not take any damage anymore from Gu Mines, triggering them to no effect.

Twitch is also getting some changes. Her Shock Drone will now start with three shots, but it will have a cooldown system similar to Echo’s Yokai drone. Its firing power has also been reduced to 1 point of damage. All this serves to turn Twitch’s focus to Defenders’ utility, while keeping her drone relevant over the duration of the round.

ASH ELITE SET: LARA CROFT

This season’s first Elite set is a special one. Ash is not in the habit of exploring old, decrepit ruins, but occasionally she’ll don the identity of Lara Croft, and she’ll do the work that entails: jumping headfirst into danger for the greater good.

Explore every corner of every map with Ash’s Tomb Raider uniform, headgear, victory animation, gadget skin for her M120 CREM Breaching Rounds and Launcher and weapon skins for the G36C, R4-C, M45 MEUSOC and 5.7 USG, as well as the Elite Ash Lara Croft charm, all of which will be available soon after the launch of Operation Void Edge.

OPERATORS PRICE DECREASE

Another wave of price decrease is coming! This time, Mira and Jackal’s prices will now be 10,000 Renown or 240 R6 Credits, Lion and Finka’s go down to 15,000 Renown or 350 R6 Credits, while Mozzie and Gridlock’s costs will decrease to 20,000 Renown or 480 R6 Credits.

VOID EDGE WEAPON SKINS

Three new seasonal weapon skins will be available this season, each with their own unique style

First: the sleek Saber Carve, influenced by the historical weaponry of Oryx’s region of origin.

Second: the playful Clog Dance, modeled after the traditional wooden shoes of Dutch culture.

Third: the colorful River Scale, inspired by Dragon Boat Festivals.

Seasonal weapon skins are released upon season launch and can be purchased during that season. Once unlocked, the seasonal weapon skins can be applied to all available weapons and will remain in the player’s inventory indefinitely.

YEAR 5 PASS

And so, our fifth year of Siege is about to kick off. If you want even more content, the Year 5 Pass is for you!

The Year pass includes access to 6 new Year 5 Operators and 6 new exclusive headgears and uniforms for them, as well as multiple exclusive customization items. You’ll also get the same VIP perks as always.

As a thank you gift to Year 4 Pass owners who renew their Pass for Year 5, we also offer 600 R6 Credits, as well as 2 Legendary and 3 Epic Alpha Packs.

PLAYER BEHAVIOR

Optional Cross-Chat

As part of our continuous efforts against in-game toxicity, we are introducing the ability to select more private chat channels for live games.

Chat will be set to ‘Team Only’ by default with this update, but players can select to see All or No Chat via their in-game settings (this option has no impact on the Custom Games).

Our data consistently shows that a very high percentage of Abusive Chat reports are from cross-chat. Currently, in Ranked, Unranked and Casual, close to 85% of reports for Abusive Chat are made against a player from the opposing team. Our aim is to make games a more welcoming experience, and return the focus of the in-game chat to strategic team-based communications.

Abandon Penalty Escalation for Ranked/Unranked

As we’ve seen improvements in connection and server stability, we’ll be re-activating the escalating abandon penalty for ranked and unranked.

BALANCING

Recruit Rework

To improve the Rainbow Six Siege onboarding experience, we’re re-assigning Recruit on a mission to lead and guide our new players. In Y5S1, recruit will have pre-set loadouts for ATT and DEF instead of CTU based loadouts. This will help ease the learning process and make recruit an ideal pick for new players familiarizing themselves with Siege.

Castle

Removed M45 secondary weapon and replaced with Super Shorty

Frost

  • Holographic scope added to Frost’s C1

Goyo

  • Falling onto Goyo’s Volcan only causes it collapse, instead of explode and propagate fire.

IQ

  • When objectives such as Bombs or Biohazard containers are still hidden during the action phase, if IQ detects them with her gadget she will reveal their location to her entire team.

Lesion

  • Gu mines visible to Lesion only when in direct LOS and within an 8 meter distance.
  • Removal of initial Gu mine damage tick.
  • Gu mine damage increased to 6 damage per tick (instead of 4).
  • DBNO players now immune to GU Mines. Being DBNO will still trigger them but the GU mines effect will not apply.

Twitch

  • Twitch Drone: Twitch’s drone will now use a charge system similar to Yokai drones instead of a set ammo count. Drones will start with the maximum ammo count of 3 shots and it will take 30 seconds to recharge a new shot.
    • Drone will start a round with 3 shots (instead of 5)
    • It takes 30s to fully recharge a shot, with a maximum carrying capacity of 3 shots per drone.
    • Drone shot cooldown reduced to 1s (from 2s)
    • Drone taser damage reduced to 1 hp (down from 10). Evil Eyes and Jager’s ADS gadget health also reduced to 1 hp.
  • Increased recoil for Twitch’s F2

Warden

Warden’s Smart Glasses will now run on a charge system and can be activated long as there is more than 20% left of his charge left. Activation lasts 10 seconds and needs 10 seconds for a full recharge.

  • Cooldown removed on Warden’s use of his gadget.
  • Warden can now control usage time and deactivate it manually, with a maximum activation time of 10 seconds.
  • His ability recharges at the same speed than it depletes. When fully depleted, it takes 10 seconds for it to be completely recharged

DMRs

  • Increased destruction for DMRs for faster destruction of barricades, hatches, and soft surfaces.

Vector .45

  • Vector damage increased to 23 (from 21)

Loadout Changes

  • Dokkaebi: Stun Grenades replacing Frag Grenades
  • Maverick: Frag Grenades replacing Stun Grenades
  • Nokk: Frag Grenades replacing Claymore
  • Ying: Frag Grenades replacing Claymore
  • Compensator removed from DMRs

WEAKS AND IMPROVEMENTS

GAME BALANCING

Explosions + Shrapnel Damage

We have reworked explosions and made changes some important changes to how explosion and the new shrapnel damage will work in Siege. This will make it clearer to players when they are damaged due to shrapnel damage from explosives. Damage taken by a player from an explosion is now determined by Shrapnel damage. The new Shrapnel damage will govern who is hit, and how much damage is taken given the player’s environment. It will apply reduced damage based on the number of objects it passes through from the origin of the explosion. Shrapnel damage should be more transparent in providing feedback to players on how they took damage or died. For a more detailed look at how explosions in Siege work, check out our Dev Blog.

Corner Explosions

We’ve improved how explosives interact in corners where there is both a hard and soft wall.

Indestructible Object Interference:

We’ve improved how explosives interact in situations where an indestructible object like a beam can block destruction damage on nearby soft walls.

PLAYER COMFORT

Stay in Drone After Prep Phase Option

Attackers will now have the option to stay in drone observation tools even when Prep Phase ends by selecting the “Drone after Prep” option in the Options Menu.

Drone random Spawn

Attacker drone spawn is now no longer random. Attacker drones will now always spawn on the same side of the building as your first selected spawn point. This change will give attackers more agency and coordination during prep phase, as well as help simplify orientation for new. You can still re-select your spawn point afterwards based on intel you gathered during the prep phase.

Caster HUD Updates

  • Caster HUD Revamp: The new Caster HUD gives the casters the ability to expand all 10 players for a global overview of the game at any given moment, without the need to see the scoreboard or a specific player point of view.
  • Player Cards: Cards can be toggled, allowing casters more flexibility for a specific situation, where they can choose between what we called condensed or expanded views. Condensed cards display the same amount of information as before, with added feedback for drones. You can follow a player point of view without missing any actions on the screen. Furthermore, expanded cards will allow all players’ statistics and operators’ loadouts to be displayed simultaneously.
  • Round Header: By moving player information, we could get more space to keep improving the narration of the game. The header will now display team names and clear defusing states when it happens.

Game Mode Name Change

The Terrorist Hunt playlist will be renamed to Training Grounds to better reflect what our community uses the playlist for. Terrorist Hunt Classic will be renamed to Elimination to more accurately depict the game mode players can expect when entering those games.

GAME HEALTH

Player Report Notifications

Players will receive notifications when a player they have reported has had an action taken against them.

Data Consolidation

To consolidate and reduce the overall game size, we have made some more improvements with restructuring how game data is stored. This means the season patch will be larger than normal.

Player Loadouts

With the start of Y5S1, we’re reworking how custom load-outs are saved in your player profile. If you log in at least once during Y5S1, we will be able to save and convert your custom loadout to the new load-out format. Players who don’t log in at least once during Season 1 will find a default loadout upon logging in come Y5S2.

Night Maps Removal from Custom

To better focus our team’s resources on creating a newer and better Rainbow Six Siege experience, we’ll be removing support for Night Maps from Custom game modes.

Once the patch is out of the PTS and has been deployed, we’ll let our readers know ASAP. Make sure to check out the changes coming to how Ubisoft Montreal handles content drop within seasons right here.

Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Roadmap and Year 6 Plans Revealed, Includes Major Changes

While Ubisoft has already outlined some of the gameplay changes planned for the Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 patch that will introduce Operation Void Edge, that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as Ubisoft Montreal has major changes planned in how they tackle seasons and beyond.

The changes on how seasons are approached will start with a hybrid Year 5. While the two seasons will stay in the current format which includes two new Operators and a map rework, the second half of 2020 will see the introduction of Rainbow Six Siege Year 6, with its new format. In Year 6, each season will now only introduce one new Operator, but will include more in-game free content. Ubisoft lists these as map reworks, a limited-time event, major gameplay changes, and a Battle Pass that will be introduce in each season starting with Void Edge.

Here’s a look at how the calendar looks via the Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 roadmap, and what changes players should expect via the press release.

CORE GAMEPLAY CHANGES

For the future, the focus is on the core gameplay of Siege, fundamental elements that have a direct impact on every player. The following points will be the priority target:

  • Get players more invested int the preparation and support phases
  • Expand player agency
  • Reinvest in existing content such as maps and operators
  • Create content and rework existing content that effects the way players engage with the environment and other players

For example, a smart ping system will be implemented to smoothen gameplay by improving communication in the team, mostly for players who can’t or prefer not to use voice chat. There will also be more secondary gadgets available to all Operators, and many more updates are currently being tested and will release during Year 5 and Year 6.

OPERATORS REWORKS

Reworks are major changes that affect how Operators are utilized and redefine their entire gameplay. In Year 5, Tachanka will be the first Operator completely reworked, and others will follow in the upcoming seasons.

IN-GAME EVENTS

Year 4 was already rich in terms of in-game events with Rainbow is Magic, Showdown, Doktor’s Curse, and Road to SI. In both Year 5 and Year 6, there will, again, be one major in-game event during each season. These events propose a unique gameplay shift, offering a refreshing and innovative experience to all players. In addition, weekend-only Arcade Playlists are also coming to the game. The first Arcade Playlist, Golden Gun, will happen during Y5S1, and more are planned, starting Y5S3.

Other changes for Year 5 and 6 have already been announced:

  • Map ban, to offer players a better control on the map they will play

  • Reputation system, a transparent system where player can get rewards or sanctioned based on their behaviors in-game

Perhaps Ubisoft’s changes to how Rainbow Six Siege handles season is somehow connected to the game’s confirmed re-release on PS5 and Xbox Series X? Your guess is as good as mine.

Are you happy with this change or should Ubisoft Montreal stick to the way they’ve been doing it before?

Media Molecule Has No Estimate for Dreams Multiplayer Mode Release, VR Nearly Completed

Media Molecule’s long-awaited PlayStation 4 exclusive, Dreams is finally out and it’s been a rather huge success with both players and critics alike. Following the steps of their other successful franchise, LittleBigPlanet, Dreams offers players an assortment of tools to create their very own games. And while that’s all impressive, the title is still set to receive some major updates down the road, them being Dreams VR and Dreams Multiplayer mode.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Media Molecule’s co-founder and technical director, Alex Evans had this to say about upcoming content.

There’s a few different angles. VR is in the pipeline and is actually nearly done to be honest. I’d love to get multiplayer in there but we haven’t got a date for that as that’s not nearly done, but that’s one that I really care about as I designed the code for multiplayer from the beginning so I’m confident it’ll come out, I just can’t say when. And we’re a game studio, we’re not tools studio so they’re going to want to get our teeth into some meaty content. So I think that we were going to make more games in Dreams for sure – 100% guaranteed.

As it stands there is currently no multiplayer available in Dreams outside of being able to share one’s project with the community. In their series before, LittleBigPlanet, the games allowed up to four-player co-op or competitive play along with the ability to create levels with friends. It was a huge aspect of the series back then, though given how different Dreams is, it’s understandable that Media Molecules is taking a bit longer to push the multiplayer update out. And in the very least we know that the VR update isn’t too far away from release if they are nearing its completion.

As to how these updates will be pushed out? Alex commented on this saying they aren’t sure how they would package it though hinted that there would be some major free updates down the road.

Dreams, one of the several major PlayStation 4 Exclusives for this year is now officially available.

Report: Call of Duty Warzone Release Date Set for Early March

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare news, a lot of news has leaked regarding the rumored Modern Warfare battle royale mode supposedly titled “Call of Duty Warzone.” While some people might have assumed that it’ll be out very soon, apparently the Call of Duty Warzone release date is set for sometime in March!

In a new report by Videogamechronicles, the site states “sources” that mention the Warzone release date is planned for “early March,” with the site pegging March 10 (a Tuesday) as the prime date for the roll out. It mentions that when the release date arrives, players will instantly have access to the “Classified” portion of the game’s main menu screen.

In addition to the release date, VGC notes that the battle royale mode will be released as a standalone game for free, with the option for players to “upgrade” to the full version of Modern Warfare. Warzone is also assumed to share progression with the current Battle Pass (Season 2) with cosmetic unlocks.

Sources mention that official marketing plans for Warzone will start this week, and there are North American YouTubers invited to visit the studio and capture battle royale footage ahead of the official announcement.

Bear in mind, none of the info listed here came from Activision, so as such, take ’em with a grain of salt, alright? However, we won’t be surprised if this is legit given how the leaks we’ve already gotten.

The Division 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X Ports Not Coming Says Ubisoft

Just yesterday, we reported that Rainbow Six Siege will be headed to the PS5 and Xbox Series X when the new consoles launch (at least that’s the goal). If you assumed this would be the same case with Ubisoft’s other shooter, The Division 2, you’re sadly, mistaken. There will be no The Division 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X ports.

Ubisoft Massive Associate Creative Director Yannick Banchereau confirmed that there won’t be new versions of The Division 2, stating:

“We are not looking at porting it to new platforms.”

“What I can tell you is that we are not making a specific version for those for those consoles, we are very much focused on just working on what we have now and making that as good as possible.”

Now this doesn’t mean that The Division 2 won’t be playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, as the two new upcoming consoles will have backwards compatibility out of the gate. Just don’t expect new, jazzed up versions of The Division 2 this holiday or beyond.

In other The Division 2 news, Ubisoft has revealed the Warlords of New York expansion hitting the game soon. Read up on that and watch the trailer here.

Are you bummed out by this news or were you expecting it? Heck, does it even matter given backwards compatibility is a thing?

Should the Next Battlefield Game Be Bad Company 3?

If you ask Battlefield fans what their favorite Battlefield game is of all time, chances are high that you’ll hear Battlefield: Bad Company 2 included in the conversation in some form or another — and with good reason. The big question now here is: should the next Battlefield game be Bad Company 3?

While we haven’t heard of any news regarding the next Battlefield game, we do know it’s coming. Rumors surfaced back in 2018 that DICE was developing a new entry in the Bad Company series. We haven’t heard anything about that since, but that doesn’t mean it’s not coming. Long-time fans might want a Bad Company 2 remaster more than anything, but given EA really hasn’t been a fan of that, the chances of us getting an all-new Bad Company game is higher than a remake/remaster.

Here on MP1st, Alex Co and James Lara discuss why (or why not) in favor of a new Bad Company game. Ready? Dive in below!

bad company 2

Jimmy Lara:

No

I still believe that the Bad Company series is probably some of DICE’s best titles that they have ever built. Despite both Battlefield Bad Company 1 & 2 being more focused on smaller-scale battles, the scope of options that they offered kept the game engaging, and the amount of destruction was far ahead of its time as maps could easily be leveled, something still unmatched by later iterations of Battlefield. Matches felt as if they held heavier weight on the player as every action seemed like they matter, rather than just being another fodder of an online shooter. The campaigns themselves were pretty fun, mostly because it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously, which added depth to the characters. To this day we see a lot of what Bad Company introduced (Rush, Squads, etc) in newer Battlefield games, so it’s no surprise that fans are holding the series so dearly and demand a sequel. Yet, perhaps that isn’t entirely the best course of action as somethings are better left as a memory.

Look, I’d love a new Bad Company game as much as the next guy, but the Battlefield games as of late haven’t really been on par with where they should be. This does go without saying that DICE is actively working on fixing their issues, but how many releases must we go through just to get the game we should have had a year or two later? How satisfied are the majority of Battlefield fans with the last few iterations? What about Battlefront seeing that DICE is also developing that series? Sure these games are in a much better position now, but why is there a need for all this backlash to make these changes? Clearly the studio doesn’t know what fans are wanting, which shows even more with recent updates to BFV and it’s TTK.

EA strategy all this generation has been to ship what’s broken now and “try” to fix it later. It’s insane for a company as large as they are to even do this, and because of this I just don’t think a new Bad Company game, or even a remaster would get the same loving treatment it got when the originals released. Like many of the studios under EA’s wings, the people behind the studios that originally built these fan favorites have all moved on to other places. I feel that they are a shadow of their former self that are trying to pick up the pieces that are scattered all over the place.

Don’t get me wrong, IF EA and DICE were to release a new Bad Company game or Remaster the old ones, I’d probably be the first in line to get it, but it’ll be with low expectations. I’d love DICE to blow me away again and Bad Company 3 would be the best way to do it, but the state they are currently in I just don’t have much faith in them. Perhaps with Vince Zampella now having a bigger role at EA and helping multiple studios out with their projects, things may eventually turn out differently, all considering that Respawn Studio has been pushing some quality titles out. For now, I think I’d much rather keep my good memories of the Bad Company series as just that, rather than see them brought back half done and half broken.

Alex Co:

I’m honestly conflicted. I want to say yes, but given how high the chances of this doing more harm than good, I’m leaning on a “maybe.” However, there is a middle ground, though! I’d want DICE/EA to remake Bad Company 2 first.

Imagine if DICE pulled off a Bad Company 2 remake/remaster and nailed it? That would be insane and set up the stage for Bad Company 3 quite nicely. But if they did that (Bad Company 2 remake release) and it bombed? Well, then you’d best not tarnish the franchise name even further, no?

Having said all that, I wouldn’t want DICE to do it, but at the same time, I do want that same core Bad Company multiplayer formula. If you think about what made BC2 multiplayer so great, and apply it to today’s shooters, you’d still get (technically) a very good game. Better visuals? Better sound effects? Re-jig the classes a bit? Add tracer darts back, make entire stages destructible, and the list goes on. While some parts of that might not work in today’s modern shooter formula, I would hazard a guess that a lot of those would still be OK.

My main concern is, most of the people involved in Bad Company 2 have moved on from DICE, so whatever it is we get, might not be as faithful to the franchise as we’d like, which in turn, would sour the taste for a lot of Battlefield fans.

Though if you think about it, releasing Bad Company 3 would seriously hype up the fanbase, which both EA and DICE kinda need right now. And if you add in the next-gen consoles into the mix, well, that could very well be an explosive combination that would do very well commercially and critically.

Would you want another entry in the Bad Company franchise from DICE or would that do more harm than good? We want to hear your thoughts down in the comments below!

Marvel’s Avengers Game Characters Redesign Shows New Thor Look and Other Changes

The latest trailer for Marvel’s Avengers is out and judging by the “old” footage shown off in it, it would seem like Crystal Dynamics has heard some of the fan’s feedback and have once again done some Avengers game characters redesign/changes.

When Crystal Dynamic’s Marvel’s Avengers game was first fully revealed at E3 2019, many were quick to criticize the game’s visual, especially with how some of the character models looked. This was mostly directed towards Black Widow’s “Manly” look, which as we saw last year has actually gone through slight improvements. It now appears that after closer examination of the latest pre-order trailer, Thor now has a new hairstyle along with some general improvements to other areas in the game. Take a look down below at the collection of images we created to show these differences.

Quick note: The changes down below may have in fact been added last October, but due to the limited footage the studio had released we only got a small look at the new revised Thor and could not provide a side-by-side comparison. The latest Pre-order trailer shows the exact same scenes that were present in the original 2019 reveal trailer.

As you can see his hair is now styled and also appears to be softer. One could say that the 2019 version bears a resemblance to Thor’s first introduction in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and his 2020 version goes for the style he had in Avenger 2: Age of Ultron and at the start of Thor Ragnorok.

We included this one as it’s the actual in-game model versus a similar scene from the 2019 trailer.

Next is The Hulk.

General lighting has been changed, though that may be explained by the less dense smoke that is now present in this scene. Besides that, there are some minor differences between the 2019 and 2020 build of The Hulk. Like Thor, his hair has been adjusted slightly to give it more details. The “big” difference comes in the Hulk’s chest hair which is now gone in the newer build.

This 2020 build added a focus blur, a very minor change there. The environment, however, is a bit different as the car in the background has more details as does the street. There’s even a very visible puddle (Puddlegate!) of water near Iron Man.

No major changes when you see it as a still image outside of the different lighting. Particle effects do appear to be downgraded a bit when you see it side-by-side in motion, mostly seen in the effect under the carrier. A bit of color was added to the carrier.

An interesting one as the 2019 build featured some very tall hills or mountain ranges in the background. The 2020 build gets rid of these and trades it for taller trees and more man-made structures.

That’s all the changes that we could spot in the trailer, though we are sure there are more smaller ones in there. Sadly we couldn’t get a better look at Black Widows character or Captain American, and for the most Iron Man appears to hold the same visual appearance. Overall we do feel that there have been some improvements (debatable) made, and in the least, it shows that Crystal Dynamics is still hard at work at polishing.  It’ll be even more interesting to see what the team does with the additional months they have received due to Marvel’s Avengers delay. It was originally going to launch this May but has since been pushed back for a September release.

What do you guys think of Thor’s new hair? Did you prefer the old one more or the new one?

How Student Gamers Manage Time for Work and Play

As a college student, you want to succeed in your studies and also have fun with friends while pursuing your hobbies. As a gamer, time management is very important as gaming can be addictive robbing you of time to do other things.

For many students who love video games, time management may be a challenge for them hence they struggle to balance school life and gaming. Many gamers have managed to maintain proper balance and you can do the same. What is required is proper planning and discipline to follow through what you have planned. Here are a few tips to help you balance your work and play

Create and Write Down Your Schedule

This is one of the first things you need to do to manage your time well. Carefully consider your circumstances then create a schedule that will work well with you. Ensure your schedule is specific. Instead of planning to do an assignment in the afternoon, be specific by including the exact time you would like to start your assignments.

As you create the schedule, be realistic and avoid expecting too much from yourself. This may discourage you when you are not able to accomplish everything you set out to do. Be flexible and change your schedule in case of a change in circumstances.

Avoid Procrastination

Strictly following your schedule is important. Procrastination affects other things you are meant to do later on which creates unnecessary pressure when you try to complete many tasks in a short time. It may not be easy at first to strictly follow through the schedule but you will get used to it. Have a reminder on your phone to send you a notification when you need to get started on a certain task.

You can also download a mobile application that helps you track your progress throughout the week or month and also give you the motivation you need to accomplish your goals. If an emergency arises and you are not able to do some of your tasks, you can always ask for help.

Ask for Help

There comes a time during the academic year when the workload increases and you still have to read, do exams and hand in your assignments on time. During such times, you may have little to no time to spend gaming or any other activity. Asking for help from others may reduce the pressure and help you do things on time.

Joining a study group may help you understand things better and do your assignments faster as you share ideas in the group. If you are unable to complete your assignments on time and you keep asking who will do my uni assignment for me?, better turn to professional writers who are willing to help you with your uni assignments. By doing this, student gamers get more time to relax or take care of other important matters.

Make Use of College Resources

This is one-way students manage to balance gaming and work. The resources available to you in school is dependent on the activities you take part in. Some schools have tutors to help you out in subjects you are weak at. E-learning is also accessible for most institutions hence you do not need to go to the school library to access information that you require. This saves you a lot of time that could be used in doing other things.

Relax

Scheduling time to relax is important so that you do not get burn out from your busy schedule. It is easy to overlook relaxation time in order to complete tasks that are behind schedule. However, this may lower your academic performance in the long run as your ability to focus will decrease. To avoid this, set aside a specific time for relaxation each day and follow through with it.

Sleep

It is advisable to get adequate sleep each night, approximately 7 or 8 hours. You benefit both physically and mentally including better memory, a better immune system and you are more productive after getting enough sleep.

Conclusion

Striking a balance between work and play is possible as long as you have it all planned out. Have a written schedule for all the tasks you need to accomplish and avoid letting unnecessary things from interrupting your schedule.

When you are overwhelmed by the tasks you need to accomplish, you can ask for help through professional writers online who will do your assignments on time and according to university standards. Finally, getting enough rest and sleep should also be a priority each day.

Overwatch Cartoon and Diablo Anime Shows Being Developed

With Konami’s Castlevania animated series hitting it big over on Netflix, it seems other video game properties are following the same route. While no official announcement has been made so far, an Overwatch cartoon and Diablo anime have both been mentioned in Activision Blizzard Studios co-president Nick van Dyk’s LinkedIn profile.

According to van Dyk’s profile, Diablo is getting the animated treatment “rendered in anime style,” and is currently in pre-production, and will be released via Netflix. As for Overwatch, van Dyk mentions that he has “developed and sold an animated series based on Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise,” though it doesn’t mention which company the series has been sold to, nor has anything official been mentioned about this.

For reference, van Dyk served as a Producer on the Netfixl original animated series Skylanders Academy, which is based on Activision’s Skylanders franchise.

Note that nothing has been announced by Activision, so for now, treat this with a grain of salt, but don’t be surprised if it pans out soon-ish.

Woudl you watch a Diablo anime? Or what about an animated Overwatch series? I honestly think both would go over well with fans, but I’m more curious with how Diablo could shape up and add to the lore of the franchise.

In other Diabo news, don’t forget that Diablo 4 has already been announced, and there’s even gameplay!

Rainbow Six Siege PS5 and Xbox Series X Confirmed, Crossplay and Cross-Gen Planned

With Rainbow Six Siege already in its fifth year since it launched, it seems Ubisoft has no intention of letting the game die anytime soon, even if we’re on the cusp of the next-generation of gaming with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Those wondering, Ubisoft has just confirmed a Rainbow Six Siege PS5 and Xbox Series X versions as well!

Game Director Leroy Athanassof has confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will be available on day one — whenever that might be.

Why I can’t give you a date is because those dates are, in the end, on the people doing the next-gen consoles. What I can tell you is that we are going to be on [the consoles] from launch. When they will release the consoles; but it’s up to them to agree that. For Siege, our target is to be available right at launch.

While that is already good news for Rainbow Six Siege players, Ubisoft has more good stuff planned, and that’s with the integration of both crossplay and cross-generation play! This means that Ubisoft is targeting PS4/XB1 Rainbow Six Siege players to be able to play with PS5/Xbox Series X players at the same time!

Again, this is more a discussion between Microsoft and Sony. We would love to be fully cross-play — have Xbox players matchmaking against the PlayStation players. We are ready to support that. And hopefully, this will happen because as I said, it’s a general move in the industry, and there is nothing that can prevent that. It’s just a matter of time before it happens.

Unfortunately though, Rainbow Six Siege crossplay is just being planned between consoles, and not for consoles and PC.

I don’t think there will ever be console cross-play with PC. The only way we could do that kind of stuff is by letting you do that if you want to. By default, you’re always with console. But if you want to match with these players, to have better matchmaking, or whatever, and get your ass kicked by a keyboard and mouse, up to you.

Lastly, Ubisoft is also looking into offering cross-platform progression as well, which means your Rainbow Six Siege progress on one platform (say the PS4) can be transferred to another (PC, XB1).

While Ubisoft has no timetable on the cross-play and other stuff planned, the fact that they’ve gone public with these plans means that the game has a long life ahead of it. Mind, it’s not that surprising given we just had our first look at Operation Void Edge’s new Operators, and even upcoming changes.
