DOOM Eternal Gameplay – Watch Over 15 Minutes of Action

Those who prefer their first-person games gory, violent and brutal, you’re in luck! Today, during Quake-Con, Bethesda has revealed our first look at DOOM Eternal gameplay!

Clocking in at 15 minutes (official gameplay footage starts at around the four-minute mark in the video), the DOOM Eternal gameplay shown fits right at home in the franchise given its brutality.

With a redesigned set of armor, and an arsenal of new equipment, your fight against the onslaught of Hell continues. Take on twice as many demons in DOOM Eternal, including fan favorites from classic DOOM titles like the Archvile, Pain Elemental, and the Arachnotron. In our reveal gameplay presentation, we show off Hell on Earth and Phobos, two of many vastly diverse worlds that you’ll visit in DOOM Eternal. Watch as the DOOM Slayer uses his signature weapons and powerful new tools, including the Super Shotgun’s new Meat Hook mod, the brutal new extendable blade, and his shoulder-mounted cannon with flamethrower for devastating blows toward his enemies.

DOOM Eternal will launch this 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta Changes – Here’s What’s New in Week 2

In case you didn’t know, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta is underway on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Regardless if you were part of the past week’s beta or not, you might be interested in the Black Ops 4 beta changes for week 2, and Treyarch has delivered!

Over on Reddit, the studio posted a lengthy message detailing the Black Ops 4 beta changes that’s being carried over from feedback to the second week of the beta. There are stability changes, UI and lobby tweaks and of course, gameplay balances. Check out the entire changelog below.

BO4 Beta Notes
byu/treyarch_official inBlackops4

Thanks to everyone that tuned into our stream – extra special thanks if you tuned into the part that had audio – you’re keepers.

As we all get pumped up and ready for the start of Week 2 of the Beta, there are a number of updates that we wanted to communicate. For as much as we talk about the value of a beta and the feedback that it provides, we thought you’d be interested to know what sort of changes that feedback has yielded to date and how it will impact a better gameplay experience one week after getting it.

General Fixes

Stability & Performance

  • Matchmaking optimization pass.
  • Fixes to reduce a number of network disconnects.
  • Resolved several hitches that were occurring during gameplay.
  • Resolved a number of UI errors that were occurring in the Front End menus.
  • Fixed numerous crashes/freezes.
  • Fix for scoreboard scores and faction icons sometimes getting flipped during killcams.

Maps

  • Performance optimization pass across all maps.
  • Addressed several collision bugs across all maps.
  • Addressed many gameplay-impacting issues (like bad lines of sight) across all maps.

Features

Lobby Timer

  • Reduced “Match Start Timer” to 70 seconds.
    • This timer is longer than usual right now to accommodate map pre-loading in the lobby, which has been added to allow players to spend more time on Create-a-Class customization, Scorestreak selection, and more, rather than spend that time on a static loading screen. We’re aware that there are still cases where this isn’t working as consistently as it should, and we’re working on it.
  • Addressed an issue with the lobby timer restarting to the full time if too many players leave.
    • Now, when the lobby timer is below 10 seconds and players leave/join, the timer will only reset to 10 seconds.

Player Feedback

  • Reduced the amount of flash on screen at the moment of taking damage.
    • We’ve reduced the darkness and duration of the “damage flash” when players take damage. We are working to find the right balance between making sure players understand every time they take damage and keeping the screen clear for gameplay. This is a continued work in progress.

Movement

  • Reduced default jump height.
  • Added tuning that scale down jump height on subsequent jumps to prevent bunny hopping.
  • Reduced default slide speed.
  • Reduced default slide distance.

Spawns

  • Adjusted Domination spawn logic to ensure that players spawn more frequently near objective points owned by their team.

Gear

  • Body Amor:
    • Fixed a bug where explosive damage was not damaging Body Armor or the player wearing it.
    • Addressed an issue where players wearing Body Armor had no flinch when taking damage.
    • Player wearing Body Armor is now dealt a percentage of damage rather than the Armor blocking full damage.
    • Killing a player with Body Armor now awards an additional +25 score per EKIA.
  • COMSEC Device:
    • Further reduced cost to earn Scorestreaks with COMSEC Device for the following:
      • RC-XD
      • UAV
      • Care Package
      • Counter UAV
      • Attack Chopper
      • Strafe Run
      • Strike Team
      • Gunship
  • Stim Shot (and standard Heal):
    • For both standard heal and Stim Shot heal, time to full health has been sped up with an increase to the heal cooldown time.
  • Equipment Charge:
    • All Equipment will charge faster with this Gear.

Perks

  • Dead Silence
    • Increased Dead Silence’s effectiveness versus Acoustic Sensor by reducing the ranges at which Acoustic Sensor can detect a player with Dead Silence.
  • Flak Jacket
    • Reduced explosive damage protection.
  • Cold Blooded
    • Reduced the delay that AI will take before recognizing a Cold Blooded player by a little over 50% – you’ll need to take cover a bit more quickly when enemy AI are roaming.
  • Dexterity
    • Increased weapon hip spread while mantling.
    • Reduced slide duration.
  • Ghost
    • Decreased time that you are protected by Ghost after you stop moving.
  • Tactical Mask
    • Reduced the amount of resistance to 9-Bang, Concussion, Reactor Core, and Fire.
  • Tracker
    • Increased the duration that footsteps remain in the world.

Equipment

  • We’d like to see the balance of gunplay vs Equipment tilt a little further to the gunplay side, so we are increasing Equipment cooldown rates across the board. This will make each Equipment use more impactful, while also leading to less “Equipment Spam.”
  • Combat Axe: Lowered cooldown.
  • All other Equipment cooldowns are longer across the board.
  • Frag Grenade: Increased inner and outer damage to match Cluster Grenade damage.
  • 9-Bang:
    • Increased stun radius.
    • Decreased fire delay.
  • Tac Deploy:
    • Reduced the positive influence on the Tac Deploy. This will allow players spawning on the Tac Deploy to have a better chance at spawning in safer conditions when possible.
    • Reduced the time that a Tac Deploy is active to 25 seconds.
    • The Tac Deploy will now have a maximum cap of 10 spawns. Once 10 players have used the Tac Deploy, it will self-destruct.
  • Reactor Core: Increased damage distance.

Specialists

  • Ajax – Despite his potentially game-changing Ballistic Shield, Ajax has been underperforming in gameplay. To help him out, we further increased his movement speed while using Ballistic Shield, in both standard and Fortify (ADS) modes. This should provide an overall smoother experience and relieve some frustrations of feeling too sluggish.
  • Ruin – Players are flocking to Ruin thanks to his extreme mobility and Best-Play worthy Grav Slams. We’ve bumped up his Grav Slam cooldown to help focus usage and make sure everyone has a nice day.
  • Firebreak – Reactor Core can be very hit or miss Equipment, causing big plays or sometimes ending in a fruitless death. We’re bumping up its damage to provide more consistency and help Firebreak hold his ground. His Purifier also has a bit more fuel to keep those heartwarming flames firing longer.
  • Torque – Torque can definitely be a thorn in his enemy’s side. However, he’s still not up to snuff with the other Specialists. To make him the true master of his domain, we increased the duration of his Barricade and improved damage on its microwave field. This should make Torque more effective at blocking routes, providing cover, and getting kills.
  • Prophet – Prophet’s Tempest needed a bit more oomph to bring it up to the level of our other Specialist Weapons. To start with, we’re decreasing its cooldown so players can earn it faster. In addition, we’ve made its ADS move speed slightly faster to help players line up those shots.
  • Nomad – One man’s best friend is another’s worst enemy, and it turns out that Nomad’s dog, Juneau, is a force to be reckoned with. We’ve slowed down her sprint speed, and she’ll now play with boots… paws on the ground like the rest of us. These changes should also prevent her from launching into an aerial assault when running up a sloped surface. We’ll miss the memes.

Scorestreaks

  • Scorestreak progress is no longer resetting between Domination rounds.
  • Lightning Strike:
    • Explosive damage and radius increased.
    • Tablet will now sweep for enemy positions in the Fog of War when first used.
  • Hellstorm:
    • Cluster bomb lock-on radius increased.
  • Sentry:
    • Health increased.
    • Can be placed while sprinting.
  • Strafe Run:
    • Pathing
    • Cost reduced.
  • Strike Team:
    • Default cost increased.
    • Weapon accuracy increased.
    • Behavior updates to seek out enemies more quickly.
    • Increased health per squad member.
  • Gunship: cost reduced.
  • Mantis:
    • Health increased.
    • Damage increased.
    • Move speed increased.
    • Behavioral changes to seek out enemies more quickly.
  • Attack Helicopter: behavioral changes to seek out enemies more quickly.

Weapons

  • SMG: GKS
    • ADS recoil reduced for increased ADS accuracy.
    • Hip-fire spread reduced for increased Hip-fire accuracy.
    • Improved high damage range.
    • Improved Ammo Pool.
  • SMG: Cordite
    • Increased weapon recoil.
    • Extended Mags: Improved bullets gained.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Gameplay Gallops Out, Looks Incredible

As promised yesterday by Rockstar Games, we now have our first Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay first look!

Prepare to see how melee combat works, how shooting is different from the first game and lots more. The six-minute Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay footage definitely has a ton of info to pick through. What are you waiting for? Hit play and watch Rockstar Games’ upcoming game come to life.

According to the narrator, the next gameplay video will focus on missions, activities, enemy gangs, robberies, and more! Oh, we’ll also see the evolution of sharpshooting using the “deadeye” system.

It’s definitely one impressive gameplay video, so make sure to give it a watch. Prepare to see horseback riding, shooting, fighting, and even some boring, humdrum stuff that makes it plain as day that RDR2 will be a living, breathing world.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available this October 26 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Battlefield V Gets Another Closed Alpha, Launches August 14

Surprise! Electronic Arts and Battlefield developer DICE have announced a second closed alpha testing session for Battlefield 5, which is due to be out in October later this year.

Starting on August 14th and ending on an undisclosed date, the second Battlefield 5 alpha will contain no changes to maps, modes, weapons, or vehicles. So wait, what’s being monitored and tested? According to the blog post by live producer Alexander Hassoon, DICE are looking to mainly test soldier progression speed to find the sweet spot. While that may be the focus, it’s not the only thing they are evaluating during the alpha test.

Gameplay aspects such as map, weapon, and vehicle balance are still being tested so that we can make sure matches are fun, fair, and reward skilled players. We are also assessing our new systems, like attrition and soldier movement, to find that gameplay sweet spot. On the technical side, we’re assessing Battlefield V in a live environment. Think, server stability, backend connectivity, and matchmaking.

Many Battlefield fans on social media are confused as to why DICE would run another alpha test, and to put it simply; it’s to make sure everything on launch goes well. Battlefield fans should know by firsthand experience that when Battlefield 3 and 4 launched, getting into a multiplayer match took longer than needed because the server load was higher than expected. By stress testing their backend, DICE wants to make sure they don’t have any repeat rocky game launches.

For more details on the start of the second alpha, the regions it’s available, the platform it’s on, and a lovely pro tip on how to score an invite if you weren’t in the last one, read below.

How do I get in?

  • If you were invited to first alpha or happened to snag a code, then you’re lucky because you’re automatically invited back to the second closed alpha. For those who didn’t receive a code, you MIGHT be invited, but DICE says those invites will only go to a small group of players.

Pro Tip

You want to make sure to keep your chances high to get a code by going into your EA account and making sure your email preferences are set up correctly. To do this, follow this guide.

  • Head to Origin.com
  • Click on the arrow next to your name in the bottom left side
  • Click EA account and billing
  • On the My Account page, select email preferences
  • Checkmark “Email me about EA products”
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “update”
  • Confirm steps are complete
  • Continue to be wildly inpatient for your maybe chance of getting alpha access

First NBA 2K19 Trailer Wants You to “Take the Crown”

Visual Concepts has released the first NBA 2K19 trailer titled “Take the Crown.” Basketball and NBA fans will immediately notice that the title references not only the NBA Champion (as the crown), but also LeBron James’ jump from Cleveland to the glitzy lights of the Los Angeles Lakers.

As one can expect, the trailer features snippets of gameplay from the league’s top starts including reigning MVP James Harden, NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, The Greek Freak dunking on people, and lots more! Oh, and of course, LeBron has the most screen time which is a given since he is the cover athlete.

Set to come out this September 11, let’s hope NBA 2K19 is a better version of last year’s iteration, and isn’t as pumped up with microtransactions.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta Livestream Happening Tomorrow to Recap Week 1 and Offer a Glimpse at Week 2

While quite a number of PlayStation 4 gamers managed to get their hands on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s beta last week, Xbox One and PC players were left waiting for this weekend to come around before being able to experience it themselves.

Those who missed out have something to look forward to tomorrow, then. Treyarch has announced that the studio is doing a Black Ops 4 beta recap livestream tomorrow which will feature Co-Studio Head Dan Bunting, Expert Game Designer Tony Flame, and Game Designer Matt Scronce. The livestream will be featured on Treyarch’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and Twitch channel.

If you want to see the complete changes Treyarch has made to the beta since it started, you can check ’em out here. The PC requirements have also been revealed, though it should be noted that these are the requirements for the beta and not the full game.

The Black Ops 4 beta is set to commence this August 10 at 11 a.m. PT, though don’t be surprised if Treyarch flips the switch early.

Multiple Diablo Projects Brewing at Blizzard, Hints at Something to Be Shown Later This Year

While it could be a while before we hear anything regarding the next full-fledged Diablo game (Diablo 4, Diablo IV), Blizzard has confirmed that the studio is indeed working on “multiple” Diablo projects!

In a video published today by Blizzard, Associate Community Manager Brandy Camel talks about the future of Diablo. While the discussion talks about the latest season, she also confirms that multiple projects regarding the franchise are underway, and that a reveal could possibly take place later this year.

Report: Next Battlefield V Alpha Time of Availability Revealed

While Battlefield V has an open beta scheduled later this year, a select handful of people are already playing the game due to its closed alpha test. Well, if you’re part of that fortunate group of people, the next Battlefield V alpha time/release is now known!

Over on Reddit, user boomyak posted a screenshot of both the Windows pre-load date and the release date for the alpha.

[BFV] Next Alpha release time confirmed – Aug 14th 4:00am EST – Preload 24 hours earlier
byu/boomyak inBattlefield

Could this be legitimate? Or something related for gamescom given it’s happening very soon? If you’re part of the group of people who have access to the Battlefield V closed alpha, you might want to mark August 14 down just to be sure.

You can read more about Battlefield V’s “companies” and how monetization will work right here.

[Update] IGN Removes Dead Cells Review After Accusations of Plagiarism

[Update]: IGN has released a statement regarding the issue on their Twitter, stating that their internal investigation concluded that writer Filip Miucin did plagiarize, and as a result he was been terminated. You can read the full statement below.

[Original Story Below]

IGN, the most iconic of the video game focused websites, has been accused of plagiarism after YouTuber BoomStick Gaming released a video showing his Dead Cells review compared to IGN’s review. The first example shown didn’t reek of copying, but as the video goes on, the differences slowly melt into similarities to the point of copying.

As a result, IGN has taken the review down and have released a statement on the page where the review previously was held.

“Editor’s Note: As a group of writers and creators who value our own work and that of others in our field, the editorial staff of IGN takes plagiarism very seriously. In light of concerns that have been raised about our Dead Cells review, we’ve removed it for the time being and are investigating.”

No comment has been made from the writer of the review, Filip Miucin, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from demanding he be fired over the incident. However, BoomStick Gaming told Forbes that he does not wish for him to be fired because “it is slightly understandable to seek knowledge from someone who had done multiple reviews before,” but wished that Miucin had not copied his work.

This isn’t the first time IGN has had writers accused of plagiarizing other content creators. In March 2017, IGN Brazil writer Marcus Oliveria apologized after copying and publishing the entire script of Writing On Games’ Breath of the Wild video.

BoomStick Gaming was contacted for comment but did not reply at the time of publication.

Rainbow Six Siege Season 3: Operation Grim Sky First Details Revealed

In a press release, Ubisoft has sent out the first Rainbow Six Siege Season 3 info! Called “Operation Grim Sky,” the new season will feature two new Operators — one American Attacker, and one Defender from Great Britain.

Rainbow Six Siege Season 3 will also mark the first ever “Map Rework,” which is one of the dev team’s key commitments to “enrich” Siege gamers’ experience with the shooter this season.

HEREFORD BASE, an iconic map inspired by the training camp from the Tom Clancy novel and among the first maps introduced during the Rainbow Six Siege Beta back in 2015, was selected to benefit from a full rework in Operation Grim Sky. This rework will include a new visual identity, layout, and architecture. The map will still feel familiar to our players, but with the rework, Hereford Base may be considered a new map.

The full reveal for Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 Season 3 content will be made this August 17-19 during the Six Major Paris event, which is the largest Rainbow Six eSports competition in Europe.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the storm in phase 6 to do 1 less damage than intended.
  • Fixed replication issues caused by interacting with a Guided Missile.

GAMEPLAY

  • The weapon fire position now more closely follows the actual player position when crouching and un-crouching.
    • Shooting while leaving the crouched stance will no longer fire bullets from full standing height until the animation is complete.
  • Crouch does not interrupt emotes anymore and is disabled when emoting.

  • Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle scope-in sounds are no longer hard-panned to the left on Switch.
  • Audio for the rocket incoming sound will now properly play during close range fights.
  • Ambient audio loops will no longer stack on each other and play at once. This was creating a sound phasing issue that sounded similar to a “fighter jet”.

UI

  • The Challenges menu can now be opened in-game.

Job Ad Hints at Guerrilla Games Next Game Will Include Online Multiplayer

While Guerrilla Games might be more known today as the studio that crafted Horizon Zero Dawn, it’s worth noting that the studio made a name for itself first and foremost with the hit long-running Killzone franchise.

With the latest title in the franchise — Killzone: Shadow Fall — being released way back in 2013 when the PlayStation 4 was released, could it be time for the franchise to make a comeback? While nothing’s certain, the highly anticipated Guerrilla Games next game will include some sort of online multiplayer based on a job ad.

According to a job posting, the studio is looking for a user interface (UI) programmer.

“Guerrilla, the Amsterdam-based developer of the PS4 Exclusive hit Horizon Zero Dawn, is looking for a UI Programmer to join its internal UX Team and contribute to developing AAA game UIs.

You have experience shipping network enabled code, online games.”

This hiring coincides with the studio’s hiring of Simon Larouche earlier this year. Who’s Larouche you might ask? He’s none other than the the Game Director for this secret project, and was the designer of Killzone 2’s multiplayer, as well as a member of the Rainbow Six Siege dev team.

Obviously, nothing’s been announced yet so this could all turn out to be nothing, but don’t be surprised if we see a new Killzone entry announced soon-ish. Maybe it’ll be a launch title for the PS5? One can hope.

Tekken 7 Season Pass 2 Features Negan From The Walking Dead and More

Bandai Namco has announced the Tekken 7 Season Pass 2, and while there’s a few returning characters coming back to the fold, the big new addition here is Negan. Yes, that Negan from AMC’s The Walking Dead!

Watch the trailer below for the sneak peek!

Joining Negan as confirmed characters for the Tekken 7 Season Pass 2 are drunken master Lei Wulong and Anna Williams. Based on the look from the teaser and the voice, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan might reprise his role for the game’s version of the villain.

No concrete release date has been revealed for the Season Pass 2 so far, but once we we know more, we’ll make sure to let you know.

What do you expect to see from Negan in Tekken 7? Will he able to use his bat to great effect or will he be a gimmick character in the franchise (much like Gon)?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta Update and Feedback From Treyarch Talks About What’s Next

Well, the first week of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta has come and gone, and with it, a ton of feedback from players. Treyarch has acknowledged the complaints, suggestions and overall feedback, and has offered us a glimpse of what to expect next week when the beta commences and starts for Xbox One and PC.

Before you dive in to the “Day 3 Beta Update,” check out the Day 1 and Day 2 Beta Update posts.

Day 1 – Beta Recap
byu/treyarch_official inBlackops4

Day 2 – Beta Update
byu/treyarch_official inBlackops4

Got the info above? Good. Now, here’s the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta update feedback and what’s set to come next week.

Day 3 – Beta Update
byu/treyarch_official inBlackops4

To all of you in the Call of Duty Black Ops community, you’ve played the living hell out of this game over the weekend, and you’ve provided an incredible amount feedback – the entire team at Treyarch sends its thanks. These last few days have put a spotlight on what it means to be a part of this community, and it’s an amazing opportunity that wouldn’t happen without you.

Alright, enough mushy stuff. Let’s get on with the updates – while you were enjoying your morning chai lattes, we were rolling out a new live update with the following changes:

  • Added Kill Confirmed to Chaos TDM and set it as the Featured Playlist.

  • Fixed several spawn issues that were discovered in Domination thanks to your help.

  • Added functionality to lock the Specialist select mid-match in Search & Destroy to prevent players from dying when switching Specialists during a round in progress.

  • Made numerous stability fixes and performance improvements.

Next week, we have a lot more in store, including new content and a title update that addresses many larger-scale issues, along with additional tuning based on what we’re seeing with performance of content. Here is a preview of what’s to come in the upcoming title update:

  • Scorestreaks

    • We’ve made a big pass at tuning the effectiveness of Scorestreaks that are underperforming. This includes: expanding the Hellstorm cluster lock-on radius, increasing the damage per shell of the Lighting Strike, upping the health of the Sentry turret, increasing the Strike Team’s weapon accuracy, improving the Strafe Run’s plane pathing and increasing the Attack Chopper’s targeting capabilities.

  • Movement

    • As promised, we’ve also made some modifications to locomotion, namely to reduce the amount of bunny hopping + sliding combo moves. We realize how important locomotion is to the feel of the game, so this is always a delicate balancing act and we’re taking it slow, starting with: reducing the global jump height by 5 units; slowing down very slightly the acceleration on sliding; and jumping multiple times in a row will now scale down jump height with each subsequent jump.

  • Maps/Modes

    • A pass at performance optimizations has been made across all maps in the Beta for improved framerate.

    • Made a pass at global spawn improvements in various maps and modes.

    • Updated Hardpoint locations and rotation on Seaside.

  • Specialist Weaponry/Equipment

    • We’ve made some tuning adjustments including reducing overall effectiveness of the K9 Unit while fixing some of its more *ahem* egregious pathing issues.

  • Armor

    • Because we know this is a hot topic, we’re going to address it separately with a dedicated thread. We did say that we wanted to leave this alone until more content is unlocked, and we’ve had more time to crunch the data from all of the content in the game. For now, we are making some early tweaks which we’ll discuss in a later post.

Just because Week 1 is coming to a close doesn’t mean we’re shutting things down. . . we’ll be back with a second week of Beta action starting this Friday (PS4/XB1/PC), which will feature a few new items that you’ll want to jump in to see. We probably shouldn’t reference the new map that you saw in the beta trailer, secret new mode that has been kept under tight wraps, new XP events, and/or new level caps that you’ll see next week, so we definitely won’t do that.

Thanks again for all of your feedback, enjoy what’s left of Week 1, and we look forward to seeing you in a few days for the start of Week 2.

Cheers!

Treyarch

Stay tuned to our complete Black Ops 4 beta impressions once we’ve had enough of the multiplayer shooter. Don’t forget to check back this coming Friday to see the beta up and running again to see what changes Treyarch has made to the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will hit the PS4, Xbox One and PC this October 12, 2018.
