Epic Games Plans to Fix Fortnite Guided Missiles, Peeking & Weapon Swapping

Epic Games has detailed changes coming to the Fortnite guided missile, peeking, and weapon swapping. Confirmed Fortnite developer “EpicEricSW” posted the following details on the game’s official subreddit.

Fortnite Future Updates:

We’ve seen a lot of productive discussions recently and want to provide clarity around the recent changes!

Peeking

In v3.4, we identified an unintended behavior with shooting that affected a small number of players. However, when implementing a fix in v3.5, we unintentionally introduced a bug around peeking over structures and edges. The result of this issue is that you would accidentally end up shooting your own structures. We will be rolling back this change in v3.5.2 this week, and we’ll be taking a little more time to evaluate how we fix the original issue.

Weapon Swapping

We recently introduced weapon equip times. This change was geared towards balancing quick switching between different weapons with low rate of fire (effectively bypassing the drawbacks that make these weapons fair).
After reviewing your feedback, we’ll be making a number of changes in a hotfix later today:

  • Snipers and Crossbows do not benefit as much from quick switching, so we’ll be reverting the equip time changes for those weapons.
  • We will be keeping the delay for the remaining weapons with the new behavior – Shotguns, Revolver, Hand Cannon, and Rocket Launcher. Note: All other weapons do not have equip times.
  • Weapon equip animations will be improved in a future update. These are unfortunately somewhat misleading – it’s possible to fire sooner than the gun appears ready, so they feel more sluggish than they really are. You may notice this on a few weapons.

These two changes are an iterative step in taking another look at our weapon swapping and improving it for the long run. Please share your feedback as we continue to work on these changes.

Guided Missile

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback around the Guided Missile, in particular concerns over fairness and strength of the weapon. We share your concerns, so we’ve put the Guided Missile into the vault while we figure out the next steps for its future.

In other Fortnite news, the game’s April Fool’s Day event was subtle yet fun, there’s a Boogie Down contest that rewards players with their own custom in-game emote, and Epic Games is considering adding a Gun Game mode.

Report: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Won’t Have a Traditional Single-Player Campaign

While Treyarch is gearing up for the official reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 this coming May 17, it seems more info from the shooter is slowly seeping through the cracks, with today’s nugget of info seemingly bordering on megaton category.

According to Polygon’s sources “with knowledge of the project’s status,” there won’t be a Black Ops 4 campaign in the traditional sense, and that Treyarch will instead focus on multiplayer and the franchise’s Zombie mode.

The sources state that as Black Ops 4’s release date approached, it became evident that development on the Black Ops 4 single-player campaign won’t be finished on time, with another source stating that Treyarch has since poured all its focus on the multiplayer mode and in Zombies. Additionally, there’s said to be an emphasis on co-op modes being the potential stand-in for campaign.

When reached for comment, an Activision representative said that the company doesn’t comment on rumor and speculation, and that they’re looking forward to the May 17 reveal.

If this is true, then this is definitely major news as every Call of Duty entry before this has featured a full-fledged campaign. Having said that, it’s become readily apparent over the years that the franchise’s main draw has been the multiplayer, and this has only been hammered home by the series’ eSports focus.

Will this be a deal breaker for you if there’s no Black Ops 4 campaign? Or it won’t matter much given you only play multiplayer anyway?

Don’t forget to check out our latest feature where we list down the top five things we want to see in Black Ops 4.

Monster Hunter World New Elder Dragon Announced, Will Be Available Tomorrow

Killing Deviljho not enough for you in Monster Hunter World? Well, if so, you’re in luck! Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter World new Elder Dragon will be making its way to the game starting tomorrow! Introducing, “Kulve Taroth.”

Set to become available via a game update scheduled to roll out at 5 p.m. PT, there’s also a new game mode included in the patch, along with a new loot system! Check out the trailer and official info below.

New Elder Dragon: Kulve Taroth

With the conclusion of the Zorah Magdaros and Nergigante investigations, the path is now clear for new Elder Dragons to emerge in the New World; the perfect opening for the majestic Kulve Taroth.

Cloaked in a heavy golden mantle, this dazzling threat is fast approaching and it’s up to you and your Hunting Squad to work together and repel it at all costs. Of course, you’ll be handsomely rewarded for your efforts.

The new quest type will be called “Siege” and will have players from the Gathering Hub coordinate in breaking off parts to gain better rewards. Note that this is a multiplayer-only quest, and as such, PlayStation Plus (or Xbox Live Gold) memberships are required.

In this new quest type, we invite all of you up to the Gathering Hub to coordinate your hunting efforts with all 16 players in the lobby. Up to four parties of four hunters each can team up and contribute progress, work together to collectively break more parts, and reap greater benefits of hunting the same Kulve Taroth.

Please note that the Siege game mode balance is the same regardless of the hunting party size, and SOS Flares will be disabled for this special operation. Instead, we advise that you make use of the Search for Online Session function or Squad Sessions to find or build a hub ready to take on this massive feat.

There’s a new weapon loot system that players will need to discover by themselves. Breaking off as many parts of the Kulve Taroth and dealing a ton of damage will help in getting the goods. Now for the armor set, the Smithy already has the a and b sets (provided you have the materials), and there’s also the Layered Armor Set, which you can equip on top of your armor to change the appearance.

According to Capcom, the Kulve Taroth Siege will be available for only a limited time, though it will return at a later (unspecified) date.

There you have it, folks! Once the update is live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Fortnite Skins People Want to See

Skins Players Want for Fortnite

People have an affinity for dressing up as someone, or something, they’re not (case in point: cosplay). This extends to player avatars in any video game that allows customization. Features allowing players to dress up player characters in different fashions isn’t a new thing at all. Today, though, it’s almost always behind a paywall. It’s no different in this game, as player skins are found in the Fortnite item shop.

However, that doesn’t stop players from clamoring for more of these clothing options (which often do little for gameplay – but hey, it looks cool, right?). So, here are a few of the most wanted skins in Fortnite.

Jedi with Lightsaber

Star Wars, the classic movie that featured lightsabers and the Force, has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to the sequel trilogy. Star Wars bridges generations separated by time, and now, players want cool lightsabers and Jedi robes (or Sith robes) to be available as skins.

Who wouldn’t want to run around stabbing people with a sword made of light?

Superheroes/Villains

Aside from being topical (with Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon), skins of popular superheroes or villains would be a popular choice. Think of Black Panther’s sweet vibranium suit, or Iron Man’s iconic armor. Building forts and shooting people has never been cooler.

With both the DC and the Marvel universes to pull from, there’s a vast selection of heroes and villains to use for skins. However, it seems that there are some characters from DC’s or Marvel’s canon that players want more than others. Harley Quinn and Joker, as well as Deadpool, are the most desired skins. Who knows, maybe all of them could be in the works. (If not exactly the same, at least references to them.)

Terminator

Okay, who wouldn’t want to go around in a skin inspired by an unstoppable robot? A Terminator skin would just be icing on the cake for an unstoppable player (at least until they’re stopped), but the idea is no less badass.

Some Bad News, Though

All of the above is highly unlikely, as Epic Games has to buy the rights to use these characters’ likenesses as skins. There could, however, be references without outright copying the characters they’re representing. From a cursory glance at all the available skins, there were a few that looked similar to Overwatch characters. Since there hasn’t been any outrage at those, maybe something similar can be done for these characters.

In the end, it is still Epic Games’ decision to fulfill the players’ wishes or not. Regardless of whether these desires become reality, we hope you’ll still enjoy Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode.

Happy fort-building and dominating!

Summary: Some of the most wanted skins players desperately want in Fortnite Battle Royale. It’s not looking good though, but who knows?
